Self-Respect – How to Gain It and Why It’s Important

It is important to have self-respect if you want to love yourself fully and completely. Having self-respect gives you the ability to love yourself for the real person you are on the inside, and not just for your looks or what you do for a living, or what you are able to do. When you have the ability to be proud of you who are, and believe that you have value as a human being, then you have self-respect.

When someone is lacking self-respect they experience feelings of regret, shame, anger, guilt, and blame. They often engage in abusive, self-destructive behaviors due to feeling they have little value and are unworthy. These emotions and behaviors conflict with the ones of honesty, integrity, and self-confidence of a person who has self-respect experiences.

People will give you as much respect as you give yourself. If you cannot respect yourself, others will not respect you either.

Take Care of Yourself First

While it sometimes is necessary to put others needs before your own, if you continuously sacrifice your own needs in order to serve others, it becomes damaging and you are not respecting yourself. You must be able to draw a line between putting your emotional and physical needs ahead of helping and serving others.

Putting the needs of others before your own will eventually take it’s toll on you. Not only is it physically and emotionally draining, it can also be time consuming and costly. In addition, you may be feeling taken advantage of which will inevitably lead to feeling angry and resentful.

You cannot achieve self-respect by tending to everyone’s needs and neglecting your own. It’s actually the opposite that is true. The better you take care of yourself, and the more you tend to your own needs, the more you have to freely give to others.

How to Respect Yourself

Everyone is unique and born with their own set of great talents and personal strengths. In order to respect yourself you need to appreciate your mind, body, and spirit.

This means not criticizing yourself either to yourself or in front of others. Use the rule you learned from childhood and apply it to yourself: if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say it all! Learn to love yourself for who you are on the inside and what you have to offer and contribute to the world.

  • If you find it hard to start respecting yourself, think of how you talk to a small child or good friend. You use gentle tones and kind words to show respect and love.

Respect your body by getting proper exercise, eating a well-balanced diet, and getting the appropriate amount of rest. Respect your mind by constantly improving your intellect, practicing personal development, and being disciplined about what you watch and listen to. Respect your spirit by engaging in religious practice, regular mediation or breathing techniques.

Gaining self-respect is about loving yourself completely. Once you achieve this you can then begin to reach out and meet the needs of others.

For There Is No Respect of Persons With God – Romans 2:11 – But What Is a Person? – Part 1

"No respect of persons with God?" What did Yashua Messiah mean by this statement and why didn't He say that He is: "No respecter of men" , or could it be that He does have respect for men, but not for persons? So from this we could ask, is a person a man or can a man be a person or, as my title question asks, what is a person?

Peter utters the same statement in Acts:

Acts 10:34 (KJV) Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons.

We find this same term in the Old Testament as well:

2 Chron 19: 7 (KJV) Wherefore now let the fear of The LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with The LORD our God, nor respect of persons , nor taking of gifts. (Emphasis mine)

Now before we get into the Holy Scriptural explanations, let's take a look at some dictionary definitions for this peculiar word 'person (s)' because, as per usual, nothing is straight forward nor is it what it seems, and from Webster's we get this as the primary definition:

PERSON, n. per'sn. [L. persona; said to be compounded of per, through or by, and sonus, sound; a Latin word signifying primarily a mask used by actors on the stage.]

As we can see, and, like the words 'Lucifer' and 'gentile', we have a word of Latin origin, the word 'persona', which means a 'mask' as used by actors on stage, so already it's all beginning to look fake, artificial, fictional and false and very different from being a breathing, flesh and blood, man or woman.

Webster's also says this as a secondary definition:

" 1. An individual human being composed of body and soul. We apply the word to living beings only, possessed of a rational nature; the body when dead is not called a person. It is applied alike to a man, woman or child. "

They say here that a 'person' is an individual hu-man being composed of body and soul, but why not say that a 'person' is a man or a woman, ie come right out with it? Answer: because they know that 'person' is not a man or a woman. So is there some kind of agenda at play (pardon the pun) here? Notice that the word is applied to a man, woman or child as an appendage, but is it lawful or even legal to do so? Are our God given rights being infringed upon? If we go a little deeper we get this from the Online Legal Dictionary:

" PERSON, In general usage, a human being; by statute, however, the term can include firms, labor organizations, partnerships, associations, corporations, legal representatives, trustees, trustees in Bankruptcy, or receivers.

A corporation is a "person" for purposes of the constitutional guarantees of equal protection of laws and Due Process of Law.

Foreign governments otherwise eligible to sue in United States courts are "persons" entitled to institute a suit for treble damages for alleged antitrust violations under the Clayton Act (15 USCA § 12 et seq.). "

Have you noticed the omission of the one crucial word from the above legal definition ? MAN. It says a hu-man being by statute, but not MAN. Then it lumps hu-man beings in with 'firms' and all manner of other abstract bodies including corporations and foreign governments, no less, so what's going on? Gross deception is the answer to that.

So are you saying that a hu-man being is not a man? Yes, absolutely. The word 'hu' from the Hebrew / Gaelic and Hebrew / Old English tongues means 'serpent', so a 'hu-man' is a 'serpent man' with his origins from Eve and The Devil in The Garden. A hu-man is no son of Adam, so not a man.

The Legal Dictionary then goes on to say:

" PERSON. This word is applied to men, women and children, who are called natural persons. In law, man and person are not exactly synonymous terms. Any human being is a man, whether he be a member of society or not, whatever may be the rank he holds, or whatever may be his age, sex, & c. A person is a man considered according to the rank he holds in society, with all the rights to which the place he holds entitles him, and the duties which it imposes. "

Notice first how they contradict themselves for in one breath they say a person is a hu-man being by statute so thereby created by legal fiat and in the next breath: "Any hu-man being is a man". Moreover, the word 'person' is applied to men and yet it says "In law, man and person are not exactly synonymous terms". So 'man' and 'person' are not the same thing and yet the word 'person' is applied to a man and he is then referred to as a natural person, which is an oxymoron. So how does this work? Well it tells us, doesn't it? " A person is a man considered according to the rank he holds in society, with all the rights to which the place he holds entitles him, and the duties which it imposes.

Right, let's keep in mind here that the primary meaning of the word 'person' is a mask or false face – a fiction and yet it is being applied to a man as if to make him something else and this something else is then given a rank which he then holds in relation to a society. What is this society called and does it even exist in reality? Furthermore, with this applied personage and rank within a mythical society come rights and entitlements along with imposed duties. We can see, too, that titles are also involved and all to embellish those fictional ranks within an equally fictional society, I presume. Now these titles range from the all important 'Mr' and 'Mrs' right down to the bottom of the heap Prime Minister or President (here I'm being deliberately facetious). So what is this all about other than one huge masquerade – a fake or a lie?

Are you beginning to see why God is no respecter of persons? I do hope so, but let's continue, because we need to check this out Scripturally along with unravelling the usual satanic agenda shenanigans of the Freemason and Cainite-Judeo-Christian Religious KJV translator's.

The word 'persons' can be found 56 times in 54 verses of the KJV and the word 'person' can also be found 56 times in 54 verses of the KJV. Coincidence or contrived? I will leave you to answer that, dear readers.

Furthermore, the word 'persons' is italicised three times and the word 'person' is italicised eight times so this means that in eleven instances the translators have openly added the words 'person' and 'persons' to the original Hebrew or Greek text when translating into English.

Matt 22:16 (KJV) And they sent out unto Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in Truth, neither carest thou for any [man] : for thou regardest not the person of men.

Out of all the verses containing the words 'person' or 'persons' I have chosen Matthew 22:16 because this verse says it all. Notice, first of all, the italicised word 'man' which was added by the KJV translators, so I have removed it with square brackets as it was / is an erroneous agenda based addition. Then we have the term: "The person OF men". This makes two things very apparent: 1) The word 'of' can mean 'without' or 'to separate' so we have: "The person without men" or the person that is devoid of the man and 2) Yashua Messiah holds no value in the 'person' for He does not regard them and He does not regard them because He cannot see them. Why would He, they're only a façade, a mask, a fake and a lie.

Here is Matthew 22:16 from another source, ie from Young's Literal Translation:

Matthew 22:16 (YLT) And they send to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher we have known that Thou art true, and The Way of God in Truth thou dost teach, and Thou art not caring for anyone, for Thou dost not look to the face (mask or façade) of men. (Brackets mine)

Romans 2:11 (KJV) For there is no respect of persons with God.

In this verse we encounter another problem where the meaning has been changed to "partiality in general" but is this correct? Let's look at Strong's for clarification:

G4382 – Respecter of persons – prosoÌ „poleÌ„ psia – pros-o-pol-ape-see'-ah – From G4381; partiality, that is, favoriteitism: – respect of persons.

G4381 – prosopoleptes – pros-o-pol-ape'-tace – From G4383 and G2983; an accepter of a face (individual), that is, (specifically) one exhibiting partiality: – respecter of persons.

G4383 – prosopon – pros'-o-pon – From G4314 and the visage; from G3700); the front (as being towards view), that is, the countenance, aspect, appearance, surface; by implication presence, person: – (outward) appearance, X before, countenance, face, fashion, (men's) person, presence.

The same verse from Young's Literal Translation:

Romans 2:11 (YLT) For there is no acceptance of faces (masks) with God. (Brackets mine)

In the above we can see how the agenda of the translators has been served and the real meaning of 'persons' hidden via dissembling and disingenuous behavior. In Truth, this word 'persons' has nothing to do with partiality at all but, rather, everything to do with Truth or falsity. What this means for everyone is the question as to whether you are a mask – a person, a fake, a falsehood, a lie or a man or woman?

In part two, I will continue with the context issues of Romans 2:11 and give some more Scriptural examples of the mythical person – the mask of which God is no respecter.

Respect – The Key to Delegation

Delegation is based on respect. You need to respect the person to whom you delegate. They, in turn, will not want to do the tasks, unless they respect you.

The best way to delegate is in person . Giving someone a task face-to-face is ideal because you can get a sense of the person you are dealing with. You can tell if someone is happy to do a task for you, or if they are actually resentful. Establishing the bounds of your delegating relationship is important.

When you ask someone to do a job in person, it is best to do it two ways: orally, and in writing. This way you both know what has been said and the expectations are clear from the outset. Make sure that you both know the what, when, why, and how of the situation.

One reason to avoid asking people in email or on the phone is that it feels impersonal. You are asking a favorite, and it behooves you to be polite and take the other person's reaction into account. You will be unable to gauge their reaction if you are not in person.

If you must delegate over the phone or via email, however, be sure that you do it politely. Get feedback from the person to whom you are delegating.

Politeness is a must for all areas of delegation, regardless of the medium of communication. Always ask someone to do something, never demand. Often, the input that you receive from someone who you have asked to do the task is very helpful. Remember, you asked them to do the task for a reason: they are able to do it easier , better , or faster than you can. So be aware of their opinion and the suggestions that they have to offer.

Remember, we all have strengths and weaknesses. Try to coach people on their weaknesses, and respect them for their strengths. Ask them to accomplish tasks that accentuate their strengths. This is a question of properly using human resources. Don't give the task to Bob when Sue will get it done faster, better, and easier.

Sometimes delegation is a long-term investment. If you take the time to train someone properly now, it will save both of you time and hassle in the long-run.

Attitude is everything! Respect makes delegation a useful tool for you, and makes it less of a chore for others.

It is important when delegating to give effective feedback.

One of the most important elements of feedback is saying Thank You . This is not only common courtesy but common sense. If the people that you trust to complete your projects feel underappreciated, they will no longer want to do the task that you assign to them. Even if they do continue to do the work, they will be resentful or apathetic towards it, and as such, will not do a good job. So remembering to say a quick "Thanks!" is not only polite, but also important.

Police Officers – Training, Respect and Martial Arts

Despite tremendous personal risk thousands of brave men and women join the ranks of law enforcement every year. While most of the general public claims to support men and women in uniform, for the most part it is little more than talk.

Police officers have to deal with everything from irate citizens to terrorists, and any number of strange and violent incidents which no other civilian occupation encounters. Millions are spent to train police officers, but they still don't receive the expert training that they need. Weapons and combat martial arts training have been cut to reduce budgets and to make room for "sensitivity" training. This lack of training has resulted in an increased level violence in our streets, and increased criticism of the police.

Police officers deserve our respect, and they also deserve better training. It isn't necessary to spend millions doing research, though; techniques have already been developed through the research and hard work of others. Over sixty years ago, William E. Fairbairn and his associate Eric Anthony Sykes patrolled the streets of Shanghai, the toughest city on the planet; in order to survive they developed their own close combat techniques for police officers. They modified these practical, easy-to-learn self defense techniques for the military, and in WWII used them to train Special Forces personnel and secret agents.

The slogan "Don't let your training end at the academy door" is good advice, but few seem to heed it. Police departments have high physical standards for a new recruit, but with the exception of a few elite units, there are almost no requirements for officers once they're on the job. In Japan police officers take part in combat sports like judo, karate, and kendo and benefit greatly from the combat conditioning they receive. Police officers need explosive power and functional strength to have an edge in street fighting [http://www.topsecrettraining.com/martial-arts-fighting.htm]. Combat self defense training has been watered down, leaving officers to rely on technology and brute force. The average street cop has more equipment at his or her disposal than ever before, but that isn't necessarily a good thing.

Marksmanship is another area of police training that is neglected. While many officers know how to shoot, they aren't prepared for an actual gun battle. In order to survive a firefight an officer needs to be trained for combat, not competition shooting. Close combat expert Colonel Rex Applegate analyzed data from police shootings in the decades following World War II and found that police officers missed their intended target eighty percent of the time. According to recent studies officers are doing even worse, with criminals shooting slightly better.

The methods that helped win WWII and keep the peace can help police officers again today. Those who put on the uniform and take the oath to become police officers are a special breed, but you don't have to be one of them to know that things need to change. While those in leadership positions often just throw money at the problem and hope it goes away, they should rather try something useful and encourage their local law enforcement to re-stress the fundamentals. As police officers better understand how to do their jobs, they will develop stronger and more positive relationships with the community. Police officers are warriors for justice, and like all warriors their training must be continuous.

Respect Through Words

No one would reasonably feel good when being humiliated, put down, or spoken to in a demeaning manner, and rightfully so. As leaders, a most fundamental respect for our team members we can give is simply to speak to them with dignity.

In the perspective of our team members, it is essential that we do so, as it preserves their self esteem as they interact with the team and allow them to perform their tasks confidently. In the perspective of the team in general, it is essential that we do so, as only when the team members trust that their work and ideas will be positively accepted and evaluated will they step out and present their views, which is absolutely critical for the team to improve as a whole.

Respect involves being careful with the words we say. It requires us to present our truthful view in a way that is constructive and objective, rather than a manner that has no positive benefit and may only cause self doubt and embarrassment to team members. A useful way to construct our comments would be by using phrases such as "It may be better to …", "It would help if you …", or "You may improve by …" This immediately sets your comments to be in a solution frame, making what you say solution oriented rather than problem oriented, as we all know that dwelling on the problem would take us no where near the solution. As Einstein succinctly puts it, "The same thinking that gives us the problem would not give us the solution."

Respect also involves being sensitive to the tone of voice we use. It requires us to be mindful of HOW we say what we say, for the same sentence, said under the conditions of different vocal inflexions may give rise to radically different meanings. For instance, the words "Good job!" when said to commend someone, would mean exactly the opposite when said in sarcasm.

Miller was a manager in a paper production factory. Being the typical unreasonable and proud boss, Miller was notorious for his incredulously insulting comments that he threw at his subordinates should they fail to meet his expectations. In one instance, he commented that an employee was "born without a brain" as he failed to clinch a deal, and in another case he remarked that an employee was "too poor to afford a clock" when he arrived late for a meeting. Often, Miller's employees could be seen sulking for hours after a verbal lashing from him.

This bad leadership habit finally turned on him when Miller made a mistake in the figures that was presented to a major potential client. His team members all noticed the discrepancy immediately, but they were too fearful of being verbally abused should they say something wrong that they stayed silent rather than pointed it out. This led to an uproar when the client realized the difference too late, and the company had to pay a huge compensation sum.

While workplace leadership explicitly implies the necessity of managers and subordinates, we should always bear in mind that in spite of the hierarchy, everyone in the team are fellow colleagues, and it is crucial that we maintain respect to keep the relationship harmonious and healthy.

R – E – S – P – E – C – T: Four Tips For Teaching Your Child Respect

One of the most important things you can teach your child is respect. Teaching a child to be respectful is not as difficult as it may seem. The best way to teach respect is to show respect. But first, we must understand what it means to show respect.

Respect is an attitude. It is a response to others that may be verbal and non-verbal. Respect is the attitude of admiration or esteem – to hold in esteem or consider well-regarded – towards others, oneself and one’s possessions. A respectful child takes care of belongings and responsibilities, and a respectful child gets along with peers, parents and figures of authority.

Respect, unlike mathematics or grammar, is an abstract concept. There is no step-by-step model to apply to teach a child respect. Just as the best way to teach a child how to love is to show love, the best way to teach respect is to show respect. Children model the behavior of the adults in their lives. Keep in mind the saying “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

When a child experiences respect, they know what it feels like and begin to understand how important it is. Start early – start to teach your children as soon as they may begin to understand what you say to them. It is always much more difficult to show and teach respect to a teenager who has not really been held accountable.

While your child is learning respectful behavior patterns, it is essential to modify inappropriate behavior. If your child does something that is not respectful, take time to point out, in quiet and non-threatening ways, that their behaviors towards others or you are not respectful. Always begin that dialogue in a safe manner for them and build upon their strengths. Be sure to offer them alternate ways in which the situation may have been better handled.

Let’s take a peak:

Four-year old Chloe is on school field trip to the aquarium. Her mother is one of the parent chaperones for the trip. The field trip has Chloe’s mother feeling a bit uneasy due to Chloe’s outbursts in most situations. Mom fears that Chloe will have a tantrum in front of her teachers and demonstrate how little control she has over Chloe.

The trip proceeds smoothly until Chloe discovers the gift shop. She eyes up a huge blue dolphin that she states will need to come to sleep with her tonight. Chloe’s mother proceeds to explain to Chloe that the dolphin is quite expensive and she will need to pick out something less expensive.

At that point Chloe begins to call her mother names such as stupid, and dumb. Chloe’s mother is often uncomfortable to confront her daughter when she is showing disrespect towards others. Not knowing what to do, and being caught between embarrassment in front of teachers and her feelings toward her daughter, she takes Chloe by the hand and leads her to the lobby.

The response to Chloe’s behavior is crucial in successfully modifying inappropriate behavior. The scene can be played out in one of two ways:

Accepting inappropriate behavior: If mom is not aware of the ways to deal with disrespectful behavior, Chloe will most likely be spoken to in a harsh manner: threatening her future freedom (“If you don’t stop right now, you will never go on another field trip again) or bargaining in an attempt to stop the incident (“If you stop calling me stupid, I’ll buy you the dolphin”). Neither response will teach Chloe the respect that she will need as she encounters similar situations in her life. If the parent responds in a manner that shows the child that their behavior is acceptable, the child will not modify their behavior and will continue to act inappropriately.

Modifying inappropriate behavior: If mom is comfortable confronting her daughter and has handled these types of behaviors in the past with Chloe, she will quietly lead Chloe out to the lobby and sit her down in a safe space. She will review the trip and tell her what behaviors Chloe demonstrated today that were exemplary and then discuss the behaviors that were less then acceptable. Chloe’s mother will then discuss ways in which Chloe could handle her feelings in a more positive manner. The discussion ends with a gentle reminder that respect must be a part of how they treat each other and that Chloe will have the opportunity to have a new toy or treat upon her next positive behavioral display. No threats, no bargains… just an honest discussion about how the child behaved appropriately and which actions were not appropriate.

Respect requires:

1) Early Introduction: Introduce the concept of respect early (as soon as the child is able to understand when being spoken to) by identifying positive and negative behavioral patterns.

2) Model: Show your children how to respect by interacting respectfully with your spouse and with others.

3) Awareness: Talk with your child at those times when they demonstrate behavior that is less then respectful. Showing them in the moment is most beneficial.

4) Build On Strengths: In discussions with your child, begin by building on the strengths that they have shown, the positive behaviors in which they have engaged, and how to improve the undesired behaviors.

Always ask for assistance when unsure of how to proceed.

An Advertiser’s Responsibility To Respect Social Sensitivities

An advertiser is required to produce advertisements to market and promote the product(s) of the firm he is employed by. The medium of advertisement can be print, electronic, or the most current medium, social media. However, it is not easy to advertise any product or service and there is a heavy responsibility of following number of guidelines and requirements that apply to the entire advertising industry.

It is the responsibility of every advertiser to ensure that the advertisement(s) that he produces are in line with marketing ethics and that the sentiments of the viewers are kept in mind during the brainstorming and production phases of the promotional video, print advertisement or social media campaign. Social sensitivities have to be given due consideration so as to avoid any backlash from the masses upon the launch of the campaign.

There are a number of social issues which tend to rouse strong feelings if portrayed in a wrong way. These include issues regarding social, cultural or racial discrimination, gender bias, as well as issues pertaining to mental and physical health. The scope of social sensitivities also covers explicit content and censorship issues. The responsibility of a marketer is to avoid attracting any negative feedback from the viewers of advertisements by respecting unsaid boundaries of all aforementioned social sensitivities.

Social, cultural or racial discrimination refers to highlighting differences between social classes, or different cultures and races, that too in an inappropriate manner. It is the responsibility of an advertiser to ensure that the work that he produces along with his team should promote equality and should not encourage differences which do exist in the society but are unhealthy. Making one social class, culture or race seem more preferred or important in comparison to others can hurt the sentiments of people and also worsens social situations as it may cause a lot of debate and could possibly result in widespread protests by the masses. Such a situation will naturally harm the reputation of the firm that came up with such an advertisement.

It is important for advertisers to be aware of their responsibility to minimize gender biases. If they are not able to contribute towards reducing the perceived precedence that boys/men have over girls/women in patriarchal societies than they should at least not indulge in making such notions appear as if they are acceptable norms that need not be changed, but further encouraged.

When it comes to issues regarding mental and physical health it is the responsibility of an advertiser to spread awareness of such problems, and to avoid portraying individuals with health concerns as being socially inept. They can highlight the challenges that disabled people face in a positive light and show scenarios which give confidence to such people, but advertisers are required to respect the sentiments of mentally or physically challenged people by refraining from displaying contempt or insensitivity towards their plight.

The most important responsibility of an advertiser is to ensure that the advertisements produced by him and his team are not immoral or indecent in any way. The clothing that the models wear as well as their behavior and choice of words should all respect the local norms with regards to decency. Any explicit content should be censored in an unobtrusive way so as the meaning of the advertisement is not vague.

If an advertiser is conscious of each of the above mentioned aspects, then he would be fulfilling his responsibility of being an ethical advertiser. Shouldering complete responsibility of respecting social sensitivities will ensure that the advertiser produces quality campaigns. This will in turn create a positive image of the advertising agency as well as their clients, which is the primary aim of an advertiser.

Why it is Difficult to Earn RESPECT

From today, an 18 year old at the start of his adult life will be spending the next 25 years of it in prison in the UK for killing another man who he said paid him no ‘respect’. Yet another Black youngster is behind bars, his freedom and potential dramatically cut short like the life of his victim. Bradley Tucker shot unarmed Peter Woodhams after Peter had already been knifed by someone in Tucker’s hoodie gang. He lost his life trying to stand up to the bullies.

According to the judge, Bradley “perceived disrespect”. He feared loss of face in a challenge that he perceived from the man he killed – a challenge to the standing he felt he had in the eyes of the people whose respect he sought. Gang members tend to talk about getting ‘respect’ from each other and others. They believe that the negative acts of wounding and killing should encourage even more ‘respect’ and save face. But they will always fail in getting the desired result because of a misunderstanding of the word respect and a lack of awareness of how it is acquired. Respect is a positive word. It has nothing to do with negativity or negative acts. So one cannot get respect through negative behaviour. One can probably get a temporary feeling of satisfaction and power, but no real respect. There are also six dimensions of the word respect.

At the heart of respect is sensitivity to others and their feelings. By demanding respect, or bullying others into showing it, that goes against the grain of earning that respect because there is no sensitivity. We are all automatically entitled to respect by virtue of being living, thinking human beings. Respect is thus automatic in the first instance for who we are and proclaim to be. However, maintaining that respect is the difficult bit because unless the six dimensions of respect are in place (curiosity, attention, dialogue, sensitivity, empowerment, healing), we are likely to withhold respect from that person and treat them with either contempt or disdain, especially through ignoring them or resisting their attempts to draw our attention or engage in dialogue.

Reasons for Joining Gangs

Most important, real respect begins from the self. If we have no respect for ourselves, we cannot expect it from others either. That would be a difficult thing to do. For example, someone being a murderer, yet expect to be treated as though he hasn’t committed a crime, is contradictory. He is a criminal. Until there has been a successful rehabilitation for his action, he will always be perceived in a negative light and denied the respect he seeks.

People join gangs for a variety of reasons but the key one is to foster a sense of belonging, an essential part of the confidence triangle. Most gang members will be low in self-esteem and the stronger ones will have a craving for power. Not being able to use that power in positive ways in the wider world, they will use it negatively to feel better about themselves. In such groups, where the only glue holding members together is the desire to belong and feel wanted, the achievement they crave is likely to come in deviant acts to maintain that feeling of power and desire for ‘respect’. Yet that is not the basis to earn respect because there is no self-respect already in place. Instead, members are likely to expect others to like what they reject – themselves. They will also be expecting others to condone negative acts which are likely to be part of their rituals and affirmation process. Yet those very acts merely serve to alienate the wider public and form a dubious base for their efforts to impress other members. In such a negative situation, how could Bradley expect to get the respect that he himself denied others?

Bradley Tucker is another tragic youngster who thinks he can earn respect by force through the maiming and killing of another person. But he lost respect for himself when he became a member of a deviant gang and began his reign of terror against his neighbourhood. He said he only meant to scare his victim. I am inclined to believe him. But what obviously got in the way when he pointed the gun at defenceless Peter Woodhams was that feeling of power again, the sudden realisation of the heady power to snuff out a man’s life to prove a point, while momentarily forgetting that he was robbing himself of a life too.

Your Wife Has Lost Respect For You – How to Regain it Back Again

Your wife has lost respect for you. You irritate her whenever you talk to her and she criticizes you all the time. You can see signs that your wife has lost respect for you. How can you regain back your respect again?

If she has lost respect for you, she will not listen to you as well and it seems like your words hold no value. Even if you try to intimate with her, it is either she does it unwillingly or she tries to avoid your request.

You may appear to be overly compromising just because you want her to respect you again. Perhaps, you have been trying all kinds of ways just to please her. Instead of doing that, take some time away from each other, this is to give your wife and yourself some space to breath and also to think of the problems in the marriage.

Another thing that you want your wife to respect you again, you should never be too demanding in your request. This will only make your wife detest you further especially when she feels stress about this marriage.

Respect Your Enemy

Bowing before a fighting match is a Japanese Martial Arts tradition. China is the origin started this practice. This practice can be seen in any fighting art, in Asia, not just in Japan. Western chivalry carries same spirits and overlaps the principles. Basic principle in bowing to one’s enemy before fighting is to show respect to his enemy.

There were some Samurai Leaders who did not respect their enemies in Japanese history. One Local Lord who almost unified Japan in 16th Century was one of them. He destroyed and changed Japanese Ancient Regime. In this sense, he is noteworthy figure in Japanese history. His approach, however, to his enemy, was with hatred and destruction. He attacked a temple, killed all priest, and burned down the temple. He did the same to Ninja village. According to the history, he drunk Japanese Sake with a cup made by his enemy leader’s skull. He was like Earl Dracula, the Japanese Version.

On the other hand, there were some others who gave full respect to their enemies. A Local Lord in the backside of Japan repeated fierce fights against his enemy over a mountain area territory in early 16th Century. He respected his enemy so much that he had sent salt and saved his enemy and his country, when his enemy suffered from lack of salt because of stopped supply.

Why did a Samurai need to respect his Enemy? Why they had bowed, before they fought for their lives? By bowing and showing respect to his opponent, they were sending wordless message to his enemy. Their messages were like the followings:

I respect you as a Samurai. I promise you that I will fight you under rules of Samurai fighting. I promise that I do not do anything disgraceful to win. If I win and you lose your life, I will not disgrace your body, soul, and family. I will respect them as I respect you.

In other words, the one fighting under Samurai spirit must be philosophical, spiritual, ideological, and strong in giving this message. They must be fighting for the reason they believe to be right, to the extent that he can kill or die. This concept defines the base for Samurai fighting spirit. They fought just for righteousness. They did not fight for any disgraceful reason.

An interesting fact is that Samurai, who respected their enemies, and fought under righteousness and justice in their history, had rewarded with somehow happy ending. On the other hand, ones, who did not respect their enemies, who fought for their own aims and greed, had tragic results. Betrayal of his own subject killed this Japanese version of Earl Dracula before he unified Japan. The family of Samurai, who sent salt to his enemy, survived long and chaotic period.
