My Wife Does Not Give Me Love, Respect, Or Sex – Why?

Recently, a man said the following to me:

“I am so frustrated! No matter what I do, my wife does not give me love, respect, or sex.

I constantly do nice things for my wife. For example:

o I let her sleep in everyday

o I clean house nonstop

o I take care of the children (the roles between me and my wife are switched)

o I tend to her hand and foot trying to make her feel like a queen

o I try not to let her down in anyway

o I tell her she’s beautiful multiple times every day

o I’m always complementing her on how intelligent she is

o I don’t get mad and call her names or say hurtful things

o I support her a lot as well as helping pay the bills

o I am currently going to college so I can start a new career and support her and the children better financially

The list can go on and on. I do all of these things and more — all out of love and because I want to. I do it out of love and because I want to make her happy.

I’ve always had this strong belief that If you’re with someone you should do your best to always keep them happy and I guess me doing everything she asks for is my way of trying to do just that — to love and keep her happy — and that is my true motive.

But, I figured since I do those nice things (because I want to) she should feel the same way — as a 50/50 type of thing — and that’s what I DO NOT get from her.

You know, no one wants their efforts to go unnoticed and under appreciated. All I really want is the same love and respect FROM my wife that I GIVE her. The sex is just a bonus I crave — LOL!

So hopefully, you can now see why I’m so frustrated. After a while it feels like I’m just being taken advantage of and taken for granted.”

This sad story is one that I’ve heard enumerable times. And, it’s understandable why husbands like this guy are so frustrated.

After all, it’s only logical that when a husband is nice to his wife that she should be nice back to him, right?

Well, it may be “logical” but “logic” is NOT what drives a woman’s heart or desires.

Let me tell you the cold, hard truth…a woman can only SURRENDER her heart and her desires…she can only GIVE her love, respect, and sexuality…to a real MAN…one that she LOOKS UP TO AND ADMIRES.

And, there are a thousand and more ways that a man can think, behave, and operate such that he causes his wife to NOT look up to him or admire him.

Granted, the husband may do all kinds of nice things for his wife on one hand. But on the other, he’s failing to operate in a way that causes his wife admire him.

Consider yourself. In each of the roles, facets, and aspects of who you are, do you operate in a way that inspires your wife to look up to you and admire you?

Is your mode of operation such that your wife can take you seriously? Can she take you as a man who is a serious contender in the game of life?

If someone were to privately ask your wife to name a few men that she considered to be REAL MEN, would your name be on her list?

By way of example, many a young husband has thought himself to be funny and entertaining and all the while, he was completely ignorant of the fact that he was turning his wife off towards himself. While he’s doing all kinds of nice things for his wife and while he’s being entertaining (he thinks), HE is creating a reaction and a response in his wife such that she will not give him love, respect, or sex back.

The kind of man that a woman can admire enough to give her heart and desire to him is one who is never silly or foolish. Sure, he knows how to have fun, be fun, and create fun and at the same time, he’s grown-up enough…he’s mature enough…to have important, serious, and meaningful things going on in his life. He’s LEADING his wife somewhere meaningful and important…not leaving all the leading up to her while he sits back and plays the clown.

Now, this is just one example. Like I said, there are a thousand more examples that could be given of how men inadvertently turn their wife off.

There is good news however. When a wife isn’t interested in giving her husband love, respect, or sex, it simply means that the husband needs to learn some important lessons about masculinity and manliness.

And, if he’ll learn them pronto…before his wife gets tired of being turned off by him and finds another man…he can turn his wife’s negative attitude towards him completely around so that his wife WANTS to share her love, respect, and sex with him.

Screenplay Theory and Techniques: Characterization – Creating Main Characters the Audience Respects

This article takes an in-depth look at how stories work and what they are made of. It draws inspiration from evolution, psychology, sociology and human behavior to work out why some stories communicate so much to so many people, from different backgrounds, creeds and cultures, and what makes a universally well-received story or screenplay. In this article we study the often overlooked element of storytelling – characterization.

MAIN CHARACTERS WE RESPECT

A trait that all stories which do not work as well as others share an absence of is having main characters that we don't respect. What do we mean by this and what is the relevance of having characters that we can respect, understand and identify with?

  • The main characters in a screenplay drive the narrative, through their actions and decisions. People will not engage with characters that they don't understand or respect and consequently they will not understand or respect your screenplay.
  • In order for audiences to get emotionally involved with a story, they have to be able to project a part of themselves onto your characters. If they don't respect their views and approaches, they cannot project themselves onto the story, and will be uninterested in what happens.
  • Without understanding or respecting the approach to life that the main characters take in your story, there can be no empathy for them, and so people will not empathize with the characters' plight.

Being able to identify with, sympathise with and engage with the characters in your story, is one of the most important elements to writing a screenplay, and so many films, even with enormous budgets, don't focus enough on creating characters that people can understand and relate to.

IMPERFECT CHARACTERS

By no means do your characters have to be perfect, however. They can be criminals, alcoholics, adulterers or even murderers, and we can still engage with the story, but we have to be able to understand why they do the things that they do and more importantly respect the way they do it; to respect their approach to life. That is why in all good films, even when you have characters who perform morally ambiguous acts, if they have a redeeming trait, for example an underlying set of morals or circumstances which justify the way they behave we can still project ourselves onto them, respect them, and empathise with them.

EXAMPLES OF GOOD CHARACTER INTRODUCTIONS

Study the way the authors and filmmakers have taken the time to introduce the main characters in the following films.

  • Jack Sparrow in the film Pirates of the Caribbean
  • John MacClane in the film Die Hard
  • Tyler Durdan in the film Fight Club
  • James T. Kirk in the film Star Trek
  • Philip Marlowe in the film The Big Sleep

Also watch how you can also create great characters over the entire duration of the film, as shown in The Aviator's main character, Howard Hughes, The Shawshank Redemption's Andy Dufresne and TE Lawrence in Lawrence of Arabia.

Many of these characters are far from perfect, but we respect why and how they do the things they do.

Get Her To Respect You More

The issue of respect in a relationship comes up a lot, and that's because mutual respect really is an important ingredient for a happy romantic relationship. We men, we need to be taken seriously, we need to be listened to, we need to be followed, satisfied and appreciated.

And when we're not … guess what? We feel disrespected.

I personally feel disrespected when I am lied to, refused, interrupted, not taken seriously, ignored, cursed, made intentionally jealous, promised something and not delivered and so on. All of these, when done by the girl I love, make me feel disrespected, and they'd probably make you feel disrespected too.

Why Women Tend To Disrespect Men

Now, the reality is that even some of the most loving and caring women could sometimes say or do something than could offend us. And that's because they behave in the way they 1) are used to, 2) feel like in a specific moment, 3) or want to test our reactions.

But no matter what their reason for second class behavior is, it is not a beneficial factor for your relationship to accept it. You as a man need to set some boundaries and not accept second class behavior from your love partner.

Why? I have two simple reasons for you:

1) Because you lose her respect and also her attraction along the way.

2) Because you indirectly encourage her to continue disrespecting you, and thus create more pain and suffering in your relationship. And both of these reasons unavoidably lead to painful breakups.

How To Get Her To Respect You More

So what do you do? My best piece of practical (and no theoretical bullshit) advice for you is to: point out any and all situations where she behaves in a unacceptable way and let her know that you don't approve of her behaving in such a way. As simple as that.

But of course, you have to do that in a calm and collected manner so that she doesn't feel like being in a relationship with a dictator.

As the saying goes " you have to teach others how to behave with you ", and that's exactly what you have to do in a relationship – educate her to behave in a way that makes you feel happy and satisfied, rather than accepting behavior that makes you feel uncomfortable and frustrated.

And that's what she should do too, she should let you know any time she does not like something in your behavior. This way you'll both know each other's boundaries and you'll make sure to respect them.

Divorce – Done With Dignity and Respect

I'd like to think that with nearly 5 million divorces in the UK since the 1980s (about 150,000 per year) we'd be starting to hear stories of what worked and what didn't when a couple went through their separation. I'd like to see a culture of sharing wisdom with the next generation; knowledge filtering out to men, women, families and lawyers about how best to navigate the divorce journey. I'd like to read in magazines and blogs, accounts of couples who put their children and wellbeing-for-all at the center of their decision to shift from nuclear to extended family and that actually they made the subsequent life changes with ease and with a feeling of control and empowerment.

As yet, I'm really not seeing that information making its way in the mainstream media, however, I am meeting more and more couples who want a respectfully separation and a working co-parenting relationship going forward.

They're in agreement that living together is not bringing out the best in themselves or their children

They don't want to invest £ 5000 – £ 25,000 in joint solicitor and lawyer fees when a divorce can be simply mediated and cost-effectively processed (and with the saved fees they can each holiday for a week in the sun!)

Here are the Top 3 suggestions on how to go about a peaceful divorce process:

1. Reject the myth of 'divorce as a battle'

Choosing to separate because a marriage is no longer the best working model for a partnership or for parenting can be very liberating. The tradition model is one of conflict and battle and even when a couple can see the sense in divorce, often by the time they've each hired a lawyer to 'protect their best interests', the subtle suggestions of' you could get more; you've been mistreated; your children might be taken away 'will drive a them into panic, blame and more legal-fee spending.

A more peaceful and up-to-date way of divorcing is to plan for a series of conversations (difficult at first perhaps – but they get easier) based around a concept of 'more for all and less to none'. A couple and their children (age appropriately) can all be involved in these. Over a number of weeks and months a respectful and clear plan and time frame begins to evolve. Once that's defined for everyone and all are in agreement, only then does the formal paperwork and reasons get passed to a family lawyer to be filed through the courts.

2. Manage your expectations: commit 6 months to the process

The right mindset from the beginning is the trick to divorcing peacefully and in a reasonable time scale. There can be many mediated group and 1-2-1 conversations to be had during this time; each helping to clarify the wisest arrangements for both parties in relation to children, living arrangements, finances, work, re-training (if one parent requires extra support to up-skill to work for more income in the future), separation of possessions, holidays, pensions and future flexibility to re-negotiate the terms.

Will the transition be painful? – it's different for everyone, but probably. Keep in mind that it will ease in time (especially if couples priority compassion) and then remaining in a dissatisfying marriage for another 1-5 years before you get to this point creates extended hurt anyway.

3. Trust that conscious co-parenting is in your children's best interest

Children sense tension in a household even if they can't put it into words. They can end up being emotionally better off in the long term once their parents agree to step up, communicate and make some changes. It might be that, through some mediated conversations, some new skills and knowledge are learned and a marriage takes on a new lease of life and everyone is happier (it happens!); and it could also be that separating whilst keeping the children's best interests at the center of the changes brings similar happiness over time too.

For sure this is not a simple subject and relationships are different for everyone. Life is long and it's a good principle to re-confirm that you have many choices of how the future can be.

Martial Arts and Respect – What Not To Do

When you train for any discipline under the banner of martial arts, you will no longer put yourself first. In fact, part of the training is about defending yourself, but more so about defending those who cannot defend themselves. You will find a lot of opportunity in helping others when you focus on others in regards to your training and it will be very evident if you train in the correct manner. There is a mental side to the world of fighting and it should instruct you on how to treat others with respect, even if they are an opponent. There’s no honor in dismantling someone into detriment, but rather focusing on changing the situation and controlling the chaos. The following lessons learned are to highlight what not to do when studying martial arts as it is part of the respect that you will need to have for yourself and others as well.

Don’t Show Off

You’ve learned how to control your body, you can stretch and you can hit someone very fast. That’s not for you to go around chopping and hitting people. There’s no honor in going around your place of work chopping at people and showcasing your superior skill-set. The honor is found in quiet, stability, and discipline. There’s nothing worse than someone constantly showing-off around town and trying to be funny or showing that they know more than others. Use your skill when necessary and don’t show off in an inappropriate manner.

Be Serious When Training

If you’re going to learn martial arts, you’ll need to respect your body, the bodies of others, and the training facility that you’re in. Whether you’re in a back alley garage or you are in a prestigious school, you need to treat it with respect. When training, you should not laugh and joke about, focus on what you’re doing and learn through motion. If you don’t know what is going on, if you get lost, don’t use that as an excuse to crack wise, or to laugh. Respectfully ask for instruction, and do so with respect. Disciplining yourself in training is not a sprint, it’s a marathon, take your time, be serious.

Tell Your Friends To Respect Your Training

Some people will find out that you’re training within the martial arts and will immediately ask you to show them some things or will start to puff their chests at the bar. If they are putting you in situations where you may be hurt, or they will be hurt, it’s time to have a talk. Do not allow anyone to use you and your training as an excuse to disrespect you or themselves. You’re not training so that you can go around town beating up anyone that gets in your way or your friend’s way. Your friends should respect your wishes and you should respect your training enough to keep them from interfering with your life in an inappropriate manner.

How to Automatically Make a Man Respect You a Lot! Men Only Commit to Women They Truly Respect

Women are taught very young that if they let men go too far, they will be labeled with a bad reputation. They are cautioned that it is better for men to respect them, instead, because respectful girls are the kind that men choose to marry.

Having a man's respect is important. It adds value to the relationship and to your own self-respect, as well. Here are seven tips on how to make a man respect you.

Self Control
Have you ever seen someone totally out of control, whether due to anger, alcohol, drugs, or emotions? It isn't pretty, is it? No, and men don't think so, either. Have enough self-control to handle yourself and life's lessons. It is okay to drink, but not too much. It is okay to be hurt or angry, but deal with it maturely.

Don't Be a Gossip
Girls talk, everyone knows that. However, we have all known the true gossip, the one that talks about everyone and has no loyalty to anyone. Men defend each other and stick together. If you constantly kiss up to your best friend and then diss her when her back's turned, your man will lose respect for you and the way you treat other people.

Have Skills
Men like to brag on their women to their friends about their skills and talents. They also enjoy reaping some of the rewards of those skills, for instance cooking. Men seeking a mate have been told by their mothers for years to marry a girl who can cook. It comes in handy along with the ability to clean house, do laundry, sew, garden, and so forth.

Handling Finances
Men respect women who can handle money. Men also respect women who have their own money. Have some financial sense, keep money saved up for unforeseen events, have an IRA account, and maybe even start a stock portfolio. He'll be impressed.

Show A Little Kindness
Men admire women are giving to others and not self-centered. By working toward this goal, you'll be a better person. Participate in non-profit organizations, join clubs that help special kids or the elderly, pick up groceries for the elderly you know, adopt a stray animal, or volunteer at the humane society.

Honesty is the Best Policy
Don't start out on the wrong foot in a relationship by being dishonest. Once you've lied to a man and he finds out, it takes him a long time to trust you again, if he ever does. Just as your mom always told you, honesty is the best policy, even if it hurts or causes you shame or difficulty.

Don't Be Too Easy
Men do not respect women who give it up too fast. The first thing they think of is that you are this way with every guy you date. Take it slow, gain his respect. Good sex is worth waiting for, and the longer he desires you without having you, the more valuable the prize and he'll respect you for waiting.

Respect Works Like a Boomerang

Respect is a boomerang; it always comes back without any doubts. Want respect? Then better give respect? Earn respect. This is universal truth applicable in our daily life. Be it your family, friendship or professional matters, our daily dealings with the people revolve around this philosophy. Doesn’t this looks very simple? As a simple five words statement it may look easy, but the practicality to this needs persistent ingredients of love, patience, care and wisdom.

When does a person feel disrespected? When we are either forced, ignored, threatened, mislead, mocked, betrayed or being laughed at. In everyday life we coördinate with many new faces. But, 90% of your day is spending time with familiar faces. Be it your office space or family; the most common relationships for us are parents, children, wife / husband, brother, sister, close friend, boss and your immediate sub-ordinates. As you grow the importance and connection level with these people differ. Any of the relationship that changes one’s emotional behavior (emotional dis-balance) while interacting with you, is actually in fear relationship with you. FEAR forces us to move out of our comfort zone, thus we start behaving abnormally. In comparison, respect is natural. Our amicable behavior and attitude with our relationship forces the person to respect you NATURALLY. It comes from natural inside that is our heart.

There are two kinds of respect modes. First one is respect as an obligation that is also called FEAR. This is a mandatory type of respect that you give to someone within legal, natural, ethical or professional boundaries. Be it your parents, your boss or your customer. You may give them a forceful respect; else you are aware of the consequences. Respect through fear is short earned. It quickly converts into disrespect, if not handled properly with touch of respect. Therefore on our relationship (say as a father) scale of ten, we may by on scale of two as fear and scale of eight as respect. We need to set these scales very carefully in our life, especially with people who are into a long-term relationship with us.

The big question, how can one earn respect? When are we respected? When our views are heard? When we get appreciation? When asked for options? When we are not dodged or diplomatically handled? Now when do you think that this can actually happen to us? Simple, when we give the same to the other person who deserves it? Be it our parents, our children, wife, husband, colleagues or bosses. The more we practice this behavior the more we will get the same from them. Either you would be loved or respected. It therefore creates a win-win situation with your relations.

Last but not the least, if you respect other, it will never degrade you in the eyes of other people. This is a negative perception that we all normally create out of this behavior. We usually think that if I give respect to the others, they will take advantage out of this behavior of mine. Believe me this is just a perception. Practice respect, it will surely open many closed avenues of your LIFE.

How to Make a Guy Respect You Again – Learn How to Turn the Situation and Make Him Respect You

There are several reasons why a guy can lose respect for you. Perhaps you treated him badly in the past. He might have seen a character trait of yours that he didn’t particularly like. Maybe, however sexist it might sound, you slept with him too soon.

So what’s a girl to do when this happens? Here are a few techniques on how to make a guy respect you again.

1. Learn to like yourself first…

To get and keep a guy’s respect, you have to be able to like and respect yourself. No matter how cliche it seems, being yourself is the best way how to make a guy respect you again. Remind him of the original qualities that attracted him to you in the first place. Show him that whatever came between you in the past was only an aberration, and not a norm.

2. A Mind of Your Own…

You are entitled to your own opinions, and he will respect you again if you are able to convey what you think without being rude or offensive. You don’t have to go along with everything he wants. The key is to learn how to disagree nicely.

3. Live Your Life…

It is also necessary to let him know that while earning back his respect is important to you, your life wouldn’t stop on account of it. Continue on with your life while he is deciding whether or not to give you his respect again. He will admire this strength in you.

4. Time and Space…

After stating your intentions to win his respect back, you have to give him some time and space to mull it over. Do not be constantly in his face about the issue. There are many ways to show that you want him to respect you again without being too forward.

5. Honesty…

When you’ve done something wrong, it’s best to admit it to yourself and to him. Being able to recognize your mistakes or your weaknesses is one way to make a guy respect you again. Tell him how you genuinely feel, and this will inspire him to do the same. This way you’d know what he wants from you for him to be able to respect you again.

6. Patience…

After a guy has lost respect for you, gaining it back can be quite a process. Do not give in to frustration nor give up too easily. If you truly want a guy to respect you again, you should be prepared to wait and do whatever it takes.

7. Give Respect…

The last thing for you to do to make a guy respect you again is to give him respect. You have to understand that the decision is not easy, and ultimately, you would have to respect it even if it isn’t what you wanted.

Electrical Pentobarbital Anesthesia With Respect to Pacing

A recent study tested the role of the chemical Ang II on cardiovascular tissue by applying it (along with electrical currents) to 24 dogs.

An electrical cardiac stimulator is first used on 24 mongrels with pentoarbital anesthesia inducing a blood pressure of some 100 mm/s. AERP is found to be paced at an uninhibited level and the saline group has an endogenous atrial effect that can be monitored only by a femoral vent structure.

Drug infusion of an Ang II blockade on an electrical modelled solvating matrix derives a mongrel assessment that begins and ends in a random order. This process continues for over 30 minutes and has a pacing of up to an hour when combined with electrical interference and tachyphylatic drugs.

Saline controls respond to stimuli such as diastolic electrical thresholds and S1/S2 intervals at pharmacological autonomic systems. Cardiac Fukuda simulators have square wave impulses of 1-2 m/s impulse derivation.

Thresholds continue to the limits of canine endurance with frequency of the AERP blocked by the electrical current.

One of the key conclusions to draw from the preliminary testing is that the tachyphylactic phenomenon has its basis in an atrial electrical Ang II stack and this has a severe impact on the time parameters placed within each of the AERP shortening matrices.

Another conclusion we can draw is that cessation of pacing has a severe effect on the nervous system within the cardiac structure of each dog. Levels of candesartan and captopril remained similar to experiments involving electrical currents at twice the strength and can be thought of as near-independent from this chemical cocktail.

When Ang II levels reach some 153/+- 7, the rate of cardiac impulses shortens to a level consistent with experiments on various tachphylactic phenomena. Pacing has a derivation similar to the baseline of a systolic pressure system and this can be combined with the earlier conclusions to indicate there is no infusion pressure when electrical systems have their highest cardiac current form.

Shortening of the electrical remodelling under AERP states has a closed-chest form that has implications not only on canine superstructure but the muscle growth of adolescent humans.

Candesartan levels are directly correlated with the introduction of electrical system form and this has an increase in all but the lowest values after only 10 minutes with in each group, a significant increase on the minor form of the electrical products.

How To Gain Respect At Work

Respect is defined as “a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability” (“respect.” Dictionary.com Unabridged. Random House, Inc. 05 Sep. 2010). Most people talk of respect in a generalized sense (“I respect my boss.”). But in the workplace, a generalized respect won’t really cut it when things like promotions or raises are on the line. Use the second part of the definition and strive to gain respect at work for a quality or ability.

You can focus on your own strengths or weaknesses and improving one or more. For example, if you are particularly strong in time management, then you can continue to develop this area. The positive is that it will be easier to stand out and gain respect if you are already string in that area. The downside is that you may become pigeon-holed into that area, and not recognized for other strengths you may have.

You can also strengthen a trait that upper management considers valuable. Here are 5 traits that generally make you more promotable:

1. Leadership. Study this area and decide how you personally want to develop your leadership traits. Some people define this as charisma, some define it as the ability to get people to follow your direction. There are many examples of leaders. Pick one that fits your personality and focus on making it stringer.

2. Stress management. Management wants to promote people who can be relied on. If you crumble under stress or pressure, you are not reliable. Select a stress management system that works in all situations.

3. Time management. “Under budget and on time” are the happiest words to your bosses. Manage your time well, and the people above you and on your team will respect you.

4. Constant education. Demonstrate that you are always educating yourself about all aspects of your job and your career. This means the technical aspects of your position right now, and about the position you wish to hold in several years.

5. Team building. Companies like to hold on to talent and develop new talent. Demonstrating that you can do both these tasks increases your value to the company by leveraging your worth.

Respect is too often interpreted as “being afraid of” or “being intimidated by.” True respect is having co-workers and upper management see and value the unique qualities you bring to the workplace. The key to how to gain respect at work is to develop and show off your value.
