African Tribes and How to Make Them

The year 2099, humanity's somehow managed not to blow itself up yet. It's been 96 years since the human genome was sequenced and Dolly the sheep was cloned. Pity that all the sheep went extinct sometime during 2049. The Humans time traveled to the future and also returned in time to catch the latest edition of the Superbowl as there's no Superbowl in the future, the whole of America's overrun with soccer. Artificial Intelligence was implemented but soon discarded after robots with AI started displaying human characteristics like laziness, sleeping too much, asking for a salary amongst other things, contrary the belief that they would take over the world. Humanity's still as close to developing Nuclear Fusion as it was in the year 2016; that is not even close. Cars though have started to run on water which has now proceeded to become more expensive than gasoline.

After successfully colonizing Mars, the inhabitants of the red planet have now started demanding freedom from earth citing over interference by the earth authorities in their day to day affairs. Apple after much protests has finally agreed to bring back the headphone slot it removed during the start of the century.

As humanity dreams about the future, here's a look at its origins via some recipes, featured in the 6th issue of "Genetic Alchemy Cookbook" magazine describing how to create African tribes:

Zulu warrior

Ingredients: E1b1a 55%, E2 21%, B 20%, A 3%, Other 1%

Directions: In a medium bowl, combine the 55% of E1b1a gene, 21% of E2, 20% of B, add little bit of A (around 3%) mix it well, cook until you see spears and voila! you just made a Zulu warrior.

Pygmy hunter

Ingredients: B 56%, E1b1a 31%, A 4%, E2 4%, R1b 4%, Other 1%

Directions: To make a Pygmy hunter you need to blend 56% of gene B with 31% of E1b1a, add small amounts of A, E2 and R1b genes (approx. 4% each), leave for 5 minutes to equilibrate. If unable to get the percentages right, go get a Mathematics degree in the meantime. Preheat oven and bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit, until golden brown. Congratulations! You just made Pygmy hunter.

Bantu People:

Ingredients: E1b1a 60%, E2 14%, B 9%, E1b1b 8%, A 6%, Other 3%

Directions: To make the Bantu people, take a saucepan and pour about 60% of E1b1a and 14% of E2 genes leftover from last night's party. Now in a blender pour 9% B and 8% of E1b1b genes and blend till you can't make out the difference. Pour the blended mixture into the saucepan and sauté till its medium brown. Take care not to burn the same or risk the wrath of the Bantu people. Finally garnish it with approximately 6% of A and 3% of other genes. And voila! You have the Bantu people.

Tuareg fighter:

Ingredients: E1b1b 62%, E1b1a 24%, R1b 13%, Other 1%

Directions: Take a salad bowl and cover the whole surface with 62% of the E1b1b gene. Now in a separate bowl take 24% of E1b1a, 13% of R1b and 1% of other genes and whip them with ample amount of water to create a perfect sauce. Now add this sauce to the salad bowl and toss until fully mixed. And believe it or not you have your personal Tuareg fighter.

PS: If you are unsure about any measurement, feel free to do a Facetime with any Tuareg fighter you know.

Hausa Tribe:

Ingredients: R1b 40%, B 16%, A 13%, E1b1a 13%, E1b1b 4%, Other 14%

Directions: Go to your backyard and fire up the barbecue you got last Christmas. Take a barbecue skewer and fill it up with 40% R1b, 16% B, 13% A, 13% E1b1a, 4% Eibib and 14% of other genes so that you get a really colorful mix. Make sure that you get the measurements absolutely right otherwise the Hausa will be missing a leg. Place the skewer on the barbecue until it's fully grilled. And you sir / madam have a Hausa Tribe.

Del Maguey Mezcal in Oaxaca Keeps on Ticking

Ron Cooper is the grandfather of all present expressions of the global artisanal mezcal boom. He is the founder of Del Maguey Mezcal. For the past several years, when discussion about the history of the modern mezcal movement has arisen, he has been the recipient of praise; from me, and from even some of his competitor brand owners. But since 2017, Mr. Cooper and his line of agave spirits have been receiving unwarranted criticism.

A plethora of complaints about and protests against the purchase of any spirits in the stable of Del Maguey products has enveloped the mezcal industry. Some cantina owners and even novice mezcal aficionados who consider themselves “in the know,” are upset that the mammoth booze baron Pernod Ricard has purchased a majority of shares in the brand. The truth is that but for Mr. Cooper, consumption of mezcal would be nowhere near where it is today, and many of Del Maguey’s detractors would still be drinking pedestrian industrial agave products of nowhere near the quality of the mezcal now available; in the US, Britain, Australia, Mexico, Europe, and even China.

Mr. Cooper began developing the brand in the mid-1990s, when tequila was king and mezcal was its lowly cousin. Since that time no one has matched the marketing brilliance of Del Maguey’s moniker “single village mezcal.” Others have developed different ways to promote the spirit, but were it not for Mr. Cooper they would likely not even be in the mezcal business, and if so, nowhere near generating the income they now produce for themselves, and more importantly agave growers and hard-working artisanal Oaxacan distillers; and given the current mezcal boom, for tourism in the Southern Mexico state where most of the spirit is produced.

The year 1995, when Del Maguey began exporting, marked a dramatic change in the diversity of mezcal products available outside of Mexico. Until then, aside from unaged mezcal made with the espadín specie of agave, “with the worm,” product rested in oak barrels, and perhaps a bit of tobalá, there was almost nothing else around. Look at where we are now, with there being exported from the state of Oaxaca alone mezcal distilled from 8 – 10 different species, with each having between 10 – 20 sub-species. Every one of these 150 or so varietals of agave yields a different nuance.

In a lengthy conversation with Mr. Cooper during the first half of 2018, I asked the hard questions, except of course about the sale price of his interest in the brand; rumors abound of course, but to my thinking it’s no one’s business. Whatever he got and will get, he deserves. He has not given up control of the company, and in fact will continue to call the shots certainly at least well into the next decade. This will assure that the quality of Del Maguey will be essentially the same as it has over the past 20+ years.

Who else in the industry deserves whatever Mr. Cooper is getting? Who else in the industry would require of his purchaser that means of production and tools of the trade remain unchanged? The biggest change will be as a consequence of the Pernod Ricard global trajectory in the spirits industry, which will benefit not only Del Maguey, but the economic fortunes of the naysayers. Yes, demand for the brand will increase, but at least for now the need for increased production will be addressed by building more traditional ovens for baking, horses and tahonas for crushing, wooden vats for fermenting, and copper alembics for distilling; nothing more.

And what about the state of Oaxaca as a tourism destination? Journalists and the US state department are always at the ready to dismiss Mexico as a viable and attractive tourist destination. Every little ruckus anywhere in the country attracts both media and foreign government (mainly US) attention, and fuels the flames of hoards, the curious thing being that they are generally the ones who have never been to Mexico, and relish at every opportunity to paint the entire country with one broad stroke of the brush; “Didn’t you hear, the drug lords south of the border in Mexico are slaughtering people, so you’d be crazy to go to Oaxaca.” It would be no different than the US state department warning against travel to Banff Alberta or Niagara Falls Ontario because of civil unrest in Quebec or Greenpeace protests in the Arctic or off the coast of Nova Scotia.

Oaxaca need tourism to survive, and more importantly to thrive. Mr. Cooper is more so than any other person, or entity for that matter, responsible for the seed of mezcal tourism in southern Mexico, and its continued exponential growth. Other brands have helped the tourist trade in promoting travel to small Oaxacan artisanal distilleries, but it all began with Del Maguey. And the suggestion that the quality of Mr. Cooper’s line of agave spirits has changed since the Pernod Ricard buyout, is outrageous.

We live in a predominantly capitalist world. Other favorite brands will sell out as their owners decide to move on. If you base your buying decisions on distillery ownership and little more as in some instances has been the case with Del Maguey Mezcal, as much as it may seem unthinkable today, what will you have to drink tomorrow?

Being a Reflective Practitioner Can Help With Disruptive Behaviors in Your Classroom

Despite conflicting reports on the state of disruptive behavior in schools, it continues to be a perennial one for all teachers. The statistic shows that in England over forty per cent (40%) of teachers leave the profession within five years of being qualified and students' disruptive behavior of all category and types was one of the most commonly cited reasons for leaving.

For this piece, a disruptive behavior is any that presents a barrier to other's learning or inhibits the achievement of the teacher's purposes in the classroom. This definition is useful in that it helps to make a distinction between the types of behaviors occurring in the classroom and those which may occur in other settings, such as workplaces and correctional facilities, which may include actions such as protests and riots. Having said these, here are some ways that a reflective practitioner may attend to such behaviors in his or her classroom.

Reflection-on-action before action.

Before they occur, use some time to reflect on unwanted behaviors you may confront in your classroom or school. This is integral to being proactive in reducing these common recurring behaviors. Strategies for managing common recurring behaviors such as talking while the teacher talks and distracting other learners attention, refusing to follow directions or displaying aggressive behaviors will emerge when you employ reflection-on-action before action ie, 'frame' the 'problem', critically think about the students, context (classroom), personal knowledge and experience of strategies used to reduce disruptive behavior and the overall strategy used by most teachers in your particular school.

Reflection-in-action.

While you are in the throes of a disruptive behavior, reflect-in-action. Strategies for managing common recurring behaviors such as those listed above will emerge when you 'frame' the 'problem', critically think 'on the spot' (reflection-in-action) about your students, context (classroom), personal knowledge and experience of strategies used to reduce disruptive behavior and the school's overall policy on managing disruptive behavior. Also, strategies for managing crisis or violent or confrontational behaviors such as a student using tools in a workshop to fight with, or a student arguing with you, threats to other learners, listening to music on a headphone when he / she should be listening to you and challenging your authority will emerge when you 'frame' the 'problem' critically think 'on the spot' (reflection-in-action) about the students, context (classroom), personal knowledge and experience of strategies used to reduce such disruptive behavior and your school's overall policy on managing disruptive behavior.

The strategies suggested in this piece are anything but simple, for what is required is careful consideration, together with a process of disciplined intellectual criticism combining research, knowledge of context / classroom and balanced judgment (critical thinking). This implies there is the need for you to 'make time' for reflection which may be a difficult undertaking for an already busy teacher like you and those who may be 'less reflective'. However, with the appropriate support, you could be encouraged to see and appreciate the value of engaging in these activities.

Managing Child Behavior Problems – 7 Dont's in Behavior of Children

Are you concerned about managing your child behavior problems?

Do you know if your discipline methods work?

Are you worried as to whether you're disciplining your child in a way that will help him to become a responsible adult?

There are things that help and others that will hinder you attempt to use positive discipline in a productive manner.

Don't reward the bad behavior of your child. It is so easy to do this especially when it makes life easier. Managing child behavior problems isn't about telling your child that if he stops his bad behavior he'll get a reward. What happens in these circumstances is he keeps exhibiting this behavior to get the rewards on offer for stopping his bad behavior.

Don't give in to your child's bad behavior, his whining, tantrum or misbehavior Doing so teaches him that this kind of behavior is appropriate way to behave to get what you want. This is encouraging him to continue to behave in this manner to get what he wants.

Don't argue with your child about any discipline strategies you are implementing. Managing child behavior problems means you ignore his protests and just follow through immediately with what you have said you're going to do.

Don't instigate bad habits this can be easy to do especially when you are tired. Remember habits are harder to break than to start and can make discipline harder.

Don't focus on the negative behavior of your child all the time especially when trying to change behavior. It is much better to offer positive discipline reinforcement than to make the negative behavior your focal point. It is much better to say "I like that you put all of your clothes away," instead of saying "I like that, for once, you finally got around to putting your clothes away without my asking."

Don't punish in anger as this will send your child the message that the way to deal with anger is to punish someone. Learning about managing behavior problems mean you learn how to deal with your anger before you punish your child, take a step back and learn effective strategies for calming yourself.

Don't set a bad example to your child. You can do this without even realizing what you are doing. Remember children learn more from your example than they do by what you tell them. Spend some time actually thinking about the example you are setting for your child. Managing children's behavior and stopping misbehavior is best done by you setting a good example.

Instead of implementing the don't do the opposite and change things.

What Do California Notaries Do?

Do you have a document in your hand you need to have notarized and have no idea how to locate a notary or what one does or charges? Our notaries are here to assist you every step of the process. Keep in mind a notary in the United States has a much different job role than in other countries. We are not lawyers and cannot give legal advice.

With that disclaimer in place, let us educate you on just what a notary is and what the notary can do for you. A notary is an impartial third party, with no vested interest in the document or documents you are presenting them with. What this means is the notary is not named within the document itself and has no financial interest.

The notary's job is simple. You personally appear before a notary (the person named in the document and signing it), present proper photo ID and sign the document in the presence of the notary. DO NOT sign the document prior to appearing before the notary. As notaries, we are not interested in the documents content, but will look at the document for obvious blank areas (which will need to be filled in or crossed out). We will note the type of document in our notary journal, along with your ID information and the date and time. That's all a notary does.

Once the document is signed, we will sign and stamp your document, provided there is correct notary language. If correct notary language does not exist, we will attached a sheet with the correct notary language for California, sign and stamp that sheet.

The completed notarized document will be presented back to you, the client, and a fee will be collected. Below are the fees a notary in the state of California can charge:

Notarization with Acknowledgement – $ 10
Notarization with Jurat – $ 10

Certified Copy Power of Attorney – $ 10
Per Protest of Non-Payment – $ 10
Per Notice of Protest – $ 5
Recording a Protest – $ 5
Per Deposition – $ 20 *

* Does not include $ 5 Oath and $ 5 for Certificate

Keep in mind that the above fees are defined by the Secretary of State of California and may not include all fees charged by a notary public. As some notaries offer mobile notary services, those service fees are considered additional fees. Also note that not all notaries charged the same fees for services such as mobile notary and some are more qualified in understanding your document needs.

Some documents which cannot be notarized such as vital records (birth, death and marriage certificates). If your vital record has a doctors signature at the bottom of the page (name followed by MD) and you are planning to use this document outside the US through a process called an Apostille, the doctor's signature will need to be verified prior to the Apostille process. This verification can ONLY be done through the County Clerk for the County in which it was issued. A notary cannot simply place their seal on the document.

5 Ways to Cope With a Jealous Wife

Jealous wives can be a terrible liability. For some women where this trait is especially strong, it can be a great source of embarrassment for their husbands. Indeed, the green-eyed monster is a two-edged sword.

On the one hand, it’s great to know she cares enough to be jealous, but one the other hand her constant nagging every time another woman pays you the slightest bit of attention can be a real pain in the neck.

The reasons for a woman’s jealousy can be wide and varied. If her jealousy is the result of your behavior in the past – which may or may not have resulted in infidelity – then you have a much harder job of trying to stop her jealous ways. And, if even now you behave in a flirtatious manner around other women despite your wife’s protests, then your task is going to be virtually impossible.

On the other hand, her jealous reactions to women around you may be nothing to do with you. You may be the ever-loving, faithful husband who has never put a foot wrong in his entire married life, yet a woman smiling at you in a shopping mall can send your wife into fits of apoplexy.

So, what are some of the best ways to cope with a jealous wife?

1. Keep telling her that you love her

It might be a bit of a drag, but if you regularly affirm your true love for your wife, then she may exhibit fewer signs of jealousy. Try to keep the romance alive as it was in the early stages of your life together, and she will tend not to consider every contact you have with another female as a threat to her hold on you as her husband. A jealous woman is always keen to be made a fuss over. Moreover, if your total focus is on her, you will have less time to be distracted by the attentions of other women.

2. Don’t comment on other women

If your wife asks your opinion about the appearance of another woman, try to deflect the question onto another topic. Try and give the impression that the way another female looks holds absolutely zero interest for you.

3. If she makes a scene in public, walk away

It is quite common for overly jealous women to make a scene in public if they think you are showing an interest in another woman, no matter how innocent. If she starts raising her voice in a shopping mall, for example, beat a hasty retreat to the car park or bathroom while she cools off.

4. Seek professional help

Sometimes the guidance of a professional relationship therapist or counsellor can make a big difference in showing your wife that her jealousy is unfounded.

5. Give her an ultimatum

If her jealousy becomes worse over time – to the point where is might damage your relationship – then you have to give her an ultimatum to calm down and change her ways, or you will be forced to take action. Sometimes a strong and jealous woman will respond to this more forceful approach. Only resort to this if all other avenues fail.

SOPA and PIPA: A Lethal Sister Act?

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA) are burning up the internet with controversy and stimulating lynch mobs of protests. SOPA and PIPA have been successfully subdued with much help from many tech connoisseurs who have jumped on the bandwagon of opposition against these US bills. With so many people now deciding to oppose these groundbreaking federal laws (even some who were initially heavy supporters) without knowing exactly what they are about, who is being left out or benefiting the most if they take effect. Let's journey through what birthed these piracy laws as well as how they could positively and negatively affect the tech world.

Definitions of Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA)

Also known as HR 3261 and the Enforcing and Protecting American Rights Against Sites Intent on Theft and Exploitation Act (E-PARASITE Act), the technical wording for the bill according to Wikipedia:

"SOPA is a United States bill introduced by US Representative Lamar S. Smith (R – TX) to expand the ability of US law enforcement to fight online trafficking in copyrighted intellectual property and counterfeit goods [from non-US based websites). the requesting of court orders to bar advertising networks and payment facilities from conducting business with infringing websites, and search engines from linking to the sites, and court orders requiring Internet service providers to block access to the sites. include unauthorized streaming of copyright material, imposing a maximum penalty of five years in prison. "

Created by Senator Patrick Leahy (D – VT), PIPA is defined as "a bill presented in the US Senate which would enable the US Justice Department to act against websites anywhere in the world if they were thought to be breaking US copyright laws" according to the Macmillan Dictionary.

The Benefits of SOPA and PIPA

Since Sean Parker and Shawn Fanning caused a piracy uproar with Napster in the early 2000s, all eyes have been on the protection of content on the web. Now the government and dominant media and copyright organizations are attempting to implement SOPA and PIPAwhich would give copyright holders more protective power over their work especially from foreign-based websites. Limiting foreign copyright opportunists is the main goal of these two piracy acts but the fear of major website information hubs and search engines like Wikipedia and Google is that it won't stop there. The Internet is now the e-commerce and virtual-information battlefield between alleged good and evil of the World Wide Web.

Supporters of SOPA and PIPA

During Fall 2011, a tremendous number of trade associations, businesses, professional and labor organizations signed a letter urging Congress to begin legislation to stop foreign-based sites from copyright infringement. Most large media companies and copyright / trademark organizations are also for it – Recording Industry Association of America, Copyright Alliance, Disney, National Cable & Telecommunications Association, Comcast, Motion Picture Association of America, Universal Music, Viacom, the Screen Actors Guildand Warner Music to name a few.

Above all, SOPA and PIPA's biggest cheerleaders are US Congressional and Senate seat holders. However, the White House has stated, "any effective legislation should reflect a wide range of stakeholders, including everyone from content creators to the engineers that build and maintain the infrastructure of the Internet."

Deflectors of SOPA and PIPA

Not all government leaders are supporting SOPA and PIPA. Senator Scott Brown (R – MA) and Senator Ron Wyden (D – OR) have actively expressed how the acts conflict with freedom of speech. Online Protection and Enforcement of Digital Trade Act (OPEN) is the proposed alternative bill to PIPA which states:

"OPEN Act is a bill introduced in the US Congress by Senator Ron Wyden (D – OR) and Representative Darrell Issa (R – CA) to protect creative ownership in America while securing the open, accessible Internet you deserve."

The historical Internet blackout enacted by Wikipedia which "prevented kids from doing their homework" reported a website but intended to show their displeasure for the two acts. Google took it a step further and posted a petition that millions of people signed in protest. Sites like Wikipedia and Google fear that the "prevention of foreign-based site piracy" will quickly infiltrate US based sites too that the government may "assume" to violate SOPA and PIPA.

From Protection to Protest

From the inception of SOPA and PIPA to the avid protestors, the sister acts have lost some appeal from a lot of their initial supporters (many of them due to the backlash from the public) and has been halted by the government. The voice of the people has never been louder through the wielding of the Internet. The Madison Tool which is associated with OPEN Act, hopes to help the public govern what should be regulated on the Internet – not the government.

Trumpets of the Last Judgement

Manifold are the interpretations and understandings of the concept of the last Trumpet when the dead shall be raised. To understand this we must follow the grand plan of the book of revelations which discusses it. And the only work that can give us the basis of understanding is the work In The Light Of Truth The Grail Message by Abd-ru-shin. Through this, certain misplaced signposts will be put back.

The book of revelations can be divided into five major parts:

1. Introduction and letters to the churches

2. Opening of the seals

3. Sounding of the trumpets

4. Pouring of the wrath of God

5. Postscript: The Millennium and beyond.

Interspersed within these are explanatory visions that permeates the past, present and future.

The opening of the seals, which is closely linked with the writing of the Grail Message (the book of seven seals), started during the nineteen twenties. Before this, the Fatima prophecies had to first come to alert mankind of what is coming. Too bad the messages from the radiated picture of the Primordial Queen is being hoarded and distorted.

The aim is to warn mankind of the impending judgment. The eldest of them, Lucia dos Santos, was told to announce the third Fatima prophecy at the beginning of the trumpet sounds during the early sixties. But she was never allowed to.

The opening of the seals resulted in upheaval-natural disasters, The 1929 economic crash, the second world war, and so much more. At the same time a new spiritual knowledge entered the world that explained creation and brought the road map to salvation.

According to the book of revelations, immediately the last seal was opened, seven angels with seven trumpets stepped forward to blow their trumpets. This was preceded by an earthquake (Chile earthquake of the early sixties?). At the blowing of the trumpets, the catastrophes that happened at the opening of the seals intensified. So much that shook the world-the 9-11crisis and its attendant war on terror and increased suicide bombing, the 2008 economic meltdown that resulted in ouster protests in many countries and occupy protests in many others plus the Greek debt crisis-all these are but the trumpet sounds warning us that when the angels will pour out the wrath of the almighty, a much higher trouble awaits mankind. As at now, as the sixth trumpets rages, the angels of wrath are taking position for the final onslaught. And the last trumpet will be accompanied by an earthquake and hailstone falling from the sky.

People misunderstand what the last trumpet is all about. It is the appearance of the Sign of the Son of Man as recorded by Mathew, when, according to him, all the kings of the earth will wail. It ushers in a period of tribulation that has never happened since the world began, nor will it ever happen again. It is the coming comet prophesied by various prophets. It is also the time when, according to Islamic lore, the Mahdi will come with Isa to cleanse the world of evil. It is also the period of the yoga in Hindu lore. Of the time no body can predict with accuracy. Hence the grand planetary alliance of 2012 which coincides with the mayan end date may only indicate that the time is very near. But he who trusts in the almighty will be helped and protected during the purification.

History of African Poetry Content and Form

Content

The content of African poetry, is made of themes that emanate from the African background. This background, as you will recall, consists essentially of experiences of colonial and post-colonial eras. The details of these experiences involve firstly a clash of cultures which featured in the initial colonial contact between Africa and the West. Western culture, which was the culture of the colonialists, was superimposed on the African culture of the colonized. A clash of cultural values emerged as the African culture resisted this superimposition.

This cultural clash became a ready theme or element for many African poets. Okot p’Bitek explores it well in the two poems he wrote “The Graceful Griraffe cannot become a Monkey” and ‘My Name Blew like a Horn among the Payira.’ p’Bitek protests against the superimposition of the White culture on African culture.

Exile and alienation are two important elements in African poetry that resulted from colonial contact especially in areas of Africa colonized by the French. For example, Senegal. In these places, the French practiced a policy of assimilation whose aim was to turn the Africans into black Frenchmen. These Africans imbibed so much of the white culture of the French that they virtually lost their identity as Africans. The result was that they were alienated from their African roots and, as it often happened, went to live in France, thus exiling themselves even physically. Senghor in ‘in Memoriam’ and ‘I will pronounce Your Name’ protests vehemently against this experience.

Do not be misled into thinking that African poetry is made up of only themes that concern Africa and Africans. That is, themes that are localized. Some African poets write about themes that could apply to any part of the world. The example we have here of such universal themes is in ‘Soyinka’s ‘Telephone conversation’ which deals with the issue of racism and his ‘post mortem’ which deals with the theme of death. The poet’s response to these issue is that racism is irrational and a hateful evil. Death in Soyinka’s view is unfathomable and therefore not worthy of man’s consistent but futile probe.

African poetry covers very many themes, both local and universal, depending on the experiences Africa and Africans have gone through.

Style

In terms of style, African poetry is written mainly in free verse which is common among many modern poets. It is not written according to any fixed rules, forms or conventions. The form which African poetry takes is governed by the subject – matter that are treated. Free verse allows for freedom of expression and style.

Instead of using rhyme, rhythm, metre or other fixed forms to enhance their meaning, African poets employ other poetic devices in skillful ways that enable them to achieve the same effect as those achieved by the use of fixed rules and conventional forms.

On a final point: Remember that we are not saying African poets do not use devices like rhyme, rhythm, meter, sonnects etc. They occasional use these devices but they do not particularly make them convey the meanings of their poems as they make the devices we have just discussed embellish their meaning.

The Real Women’s Movement

When I was a little child, the ERA became a big issue in America. I remember my mother went door to door to have petitions signed AGAINST this women’s movement. I remember one of the opposing statements against the ERA was that if we, as women, were to become equal with the men of the world, we would have to step down. In saying that, I personally believe women and men are equal if they are kind, good, and honorable people. Each have individual and unique roles. But if the men these women want equality with are quick to evil, then to be equal, women would have to step down.

Does that mean I am against women? No, I am a woman, I am stalwart in my support of women. Does this mean I do not think a woman should have equal work for equal pay. No, I believe in equal pay for equal work whether man, woman, black, or white, respect should be given for equal work and equal pay. After that, what are the benefits of equality? What are some of these women asking for?

A real woman’s movement would not search out every area where they feel unequal to a man. A real women would search for every area where she could be a strength and uplifting to a man, a husband, a father, and especially to a child. She is not concerned about doing all that a man can do, she is concerned about doing all she can do to help the people in her life be better, safe, protected and raised with love and stability.

A real woman does not protest to kill her babies, a real woman protests to save her babies! A real woman protects, nurtures, and loves her children and guides them right. Women brought every person that lives on this earth into the world. Her role is a divine role and no real woman would protest for the right to kill any child. If you want to see the power of a woman, go after her children. She will rise up to protect them at all costs.

I have given birth to 6 children. One was a still born child at just over 4 months. There is not a person on earth who can convince me, a mother, that those babies are not individuals and alive in the womb. When I lost my still born, I went to the hospital before my baby died. There was still a heart beat when I arrived. I had to lay in the bed and wait. I knew, as that baby’s mother, when my baby died. My heart was broken and I knew that life had left the baby’s body. I felt it physically and I knew it spiritually. There is a living person inside of a mother the moment it is conceived, and real mothers know it. It is a God given obligation for every woman to protect her babies at all cost. It is degrading to call any group with a contrary belief, a “Woman’s Movement”.

A real woman is virtuous. Why stand, protest, beg and require respect from men when you are willing to hand yourself over to them without any thought of your personal virtue, then ask for the freedom to have an abortion if a baby is the consequence of that reckless behavior? That is undeserving of the title “Women’s Movement”. Real women are virtuous.

Congratulations to the ERA movement, it has made great strides in its efforts to obtain equality. Now, it is everyone’s right to cuss, spit obscenities, and leave home and family for someone else to raise your children. Now it is the right of all people to go to war and fight, to hold a gun and run at the opposition. And soon, our little girls will have the right to be drafted into war. America will be so safe with our teenage girls holding down the front lines with a gun in their cute little hands. Congratulations, you did it! All people have every right to their body and no matter what life resides in the body, you have a legal right to kill your baby. You have a right to go out and protest. I see you screaming obscenities, your behavior and posters are degrading to women and embarrassing. I saw one woman stand and flex her muscles and scream out, “I’m mad, I’m real mad”. She was little and it looked ridiculous, a man could flick his finger and knock her over. But, no matter, you are so free. You have stepped down. But, do not call your movement a “Women’s Movement” for it does not deserve the title.

Real women, are still focused on raising their children, fighting for the rights of their family and making this world a better place. They are focused on high moral values and doing what is right, kind, and good. Real women know their incredible value and do not need to degrade others to build themselves up. Real women are still here and in great numbers. As real women we are not in favor of the so called “Women’s Movement,” for it is a downward slope and we real women refuse to get on that slide.
