I was a follower of Gerard Diamond's "Guns, Germs and Steel" theory of the colonization of the Americas. But lately that theory has come under attack and the main culprit is the cocolitzli virus. This virus is a local virus, native to the Americas and it is deadly. Dr Francisco Hernadez, a Spanish physician in Mexico at the time of the conquest, in his writings never named the disease. He listed the symptoms but never named the disease. If it was smallpox or the plague or one of the other diseases from Europe he would have known the disease and said so. But since he didn't name the disease Dr. John S. Marr MD an Historical Epidemiologist assumed he did not know what it was. It was a new disease, native to the New World. But the Aztecs knew about it and they had a name for it, the Cocolitizli virus or the great pest. It is estimated this virus killed 16 out of every 20 people. It was deadly. There were 2 outbreaks one in 1545 and the other in 1576 then it vanished. It is estimated to have killed around 17 million people.

Now fast forward to New Mexico in 1993 there was a strange deadly disease that was killing people very fast. It turned out to be a new strain of the Hanta virus that had first surfaced during the Korean war. Now this virus is also deadly. But the main difference between these two viruses is the one in New Mexico was transmitted from the rodent, a deer mouse to humans. While the Cocolitizli virus ended up, epidemiologist historians surmise because of how many people were killed, that the virus was transmitted from human to human. If the Hanta virus goes human to human the human race has problems. Well it has already gone human to human once in Argentina there was an outbreak in 1998. There it went from patient to doctor and to wife and husband. We were lucky it died out before it did any serious damage to the human race. Because it died out so fast the host rodent was never found.

Now we will go back in history to the native Indians living in the South Western desert areas of America. The same area were the Hanta virus came back to life in 1993. The Indian peoples who live in the southern desert regions of the USA have a saying, "If a mouse walks over your bedding burn your bedding, and if a mouse moves into your house you move out. " They had been plagued by the disease for generations, but for modern man it was a new disease. This disease is like the Cocolotozli virus the local peoples knew about it but Spanish did not.

Also it might have paid a part in why the Native Indians left the desert areas. One of the unexplained migrations from early America is why did the Indian people pack up and leave their beautiful cities in the southern desert areas of the USA. There might have been a mice plague leaving the Indians with two choices – stay and die or leave so they left. The main reasons put forward so far are the usual ones, overpopulation with global warming equals famine so they left for greener pastures. The main problem with this theory is, if you are starving you can't walk very far. Also being humans we don't like to just up and go, well I don't.

The archaeological record shows that they had what looks like the ritual burning of their homes meaning they weren't coming back. I would say the ritual burning had more to do with the mice having moved in, so it was time for the native peoples to move out and on. If there was a mice plague and they saw mice everywhere they would have an incentive to leave. The local Indians would have been aware of the connections between the mice and the disease and they would have realized that to survive they would have to leave. Actually it is a mystery where they went no one seems to know. Knowing about the mice and keeping out of their way has been passed down from generation to generation. It is possible to have started in antiquity so the saga of mice and men continues to this very day.

A number of health issues can plague people, making mobility and physical activity difficult. Orthopedic surgery may be the prescribed treatment to resolve some of these problems. Skilled surgeons perform these operations on patients every day, some of them more often than others.

Joint Replacement

Joint replacement may involve a number of different joints such as the knee, shoulder, ankle, or hip. Spinal Surgery

Many issues can affect the spine, necessitating an operation. Back pain is a common complaint for many people. Sometimes this pain is associated with reduced physical function such as walking. A physician will likely recommend less invasive treatment options prior to orthopedic surgery. However, if these treatments fail, then an operation may be the prescribed course. Common procedures include spinal decompression and spinal fusion. With fusion, the physician attaches vertebrae to control the amount of stretching that occurs between nerves.

ACL Reconstruction

The anterior cruciate ligament is responsible for stabilizing the knee. If an injury occurs, this ligament could rupture. The treatment to repair the ligament involves removing the torn ACL and replacing it. The replacement ACL could be made using tissue from the patient, or the doctor might use tissue from an organ donor. After inserting the new ACL, screws or tendon grafts will hold it in place.

Arthroscopic Surgery

When joints cause problems for people, doctors may need to explore them to diagnose the issues and recommend treatment. To perform this diagnosis, a physician will use arthroscopic surgery. Common joints for exploring with an arthroscope include the hip, knee, and shoulder. The arthroscope is a small tube with a light and lens on the end. Weird phobias can vary from very common to extremely rare. I will be discussing some unusually irrational fears.

Everyone has something that makes there stomach knot, hair rise, and toes curl however a small amount of people are repulsed and horrified of things that most would consider absurd.

For these people everyday life can become very difficult to deal with when they know they have to face something so terrifying to them others would see minuscule.

The purpose of this article is to open awareness to these problems that plague people and to guide those who do have these and others types of anxiety disorders they are not alone and help is available.

I will list some phobias and talk a little about each in detail:

Pseudodysphagia-

Simply put the unprovoked fear of choking, to the point where swallowing becomes very uncomfortable and even terrifying for no rational reason. Just thinking about this normal body function can induce panic attacks. This can be problematic when people suffering form this will not eat. There are other medical problems that can make it painful or fearful to swallow so it is important to see a doctor, so they can make sure the cause is not another serous problems.

Kinemortophobia-

The fear of the living dead or “zombies”. This might sound like a weird phobia but is a more common phobia then most people realize. This is mainly due to the fact that horror movies and voodoo legends are surrounded by tails of the undead roaming the earth. Most people with this fear are not taken serous. Like any other type of anxiety, if the mental stress makes it hard to concentrate or too difficult to live life like you once did do not be ashamed or embarrassed to seek help.

Coprophobia-

A very peculiar dread of feces. Understandably majority of people do not enjoy touching, smelling or being around feces. However people with the fear of feces avoid any situation involving excrement, including going to the bathroom, which can cause serous problems.

Trypophobia

A fear of small holes such as sponges, wasp nest, cereal, and any other object with small holes in it. Now this is not an official phobia, that does not make the fear unrealistic. Holes aren’t the only things trypophobia consist of. It may also included bubbles, warts, buttons and various small round objects. This is rarely talked about so the awareness is low.

The Best Chemical Used To Fight Malaria Is DDT.

The best chemical used to fight malaria is Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, commonly known as DDT. First world countries adopted DDT as the go-to chemical used to fight malaria, typhus, body lice and the bubonic plague. The United States and Europe eradicated malaria after World War II. But today, malaria still infects 300,000,000 people every year in developing countries – more than all the lives in the United States. It kills as many as 2,000,000 people every year – that’s the population of Houston, Texas. A father, mother or child dies every 15 seconds because of malaria. Nearly 90 percent of these victims are in sub-Saharan Africa but hundreds of thousands of cases are also reported in India, Brazil, Columbia, Guyana, Peru and the vast majority are children and pregnant women.

If DDT continued to be the chemical used to fight malaria the world would have eradicated this disease and many beautiful lives would have been saved. So why was it banned? The sad truth is people at the time wanted to control the population of the world because they thought it was overcrowded. First world countries were afraid of their own food security so instead of creating efficiencies within our supply chain they decided to eradicate people.

Population Control

Fears of overpopulation and running out of resources popularized opinions to ban DDT as the chemical to fight malaria. After DDT was banned other harmful chemical were used in its place. These new chemicals were proven to injure and kill people. The chairman of the Environmental Defense Fund, Dr. Charles F. Wurster, was quoted saying that these other substances “only kill farm workers and most of them are Mexicans and Negros” and that “people are the cause of all the problems. We have too many of them. We need to get rid of some of them and this is a good way as any” (See Published records on Hearing before the Congressional committee on Agriculture, Serial No. 92-A, 1971, pages 266-267).

The Environmental Defense Fund was one of the primary special interest groups that drove many of the U.S. policies to ban DDT.

U.S. Polices have Killed Millions of People

The U.S. policies to ban DDT started in the 1970s have been responsible for the death of hundreds of millions of people in Africa. In 1986 the Secretary of State George Schultz stated that the US cannot participate in any programs where people use DDT. They threatened to cut funding to all African countries that continued using DDT as a chemical used to fight malaria and other vector borne diseases. That one decision caused the death of hundreds of millions of people in Africa and the world.

There is no more important human right than to live. Without life, all other human rights are irrelevant. Somehow, America’s and the world’s malaria control agencies often forget this. Somehow, in too many cases, they seem to let politically correct ideologies supersede basic humanitarian goals.

The greatest frustration in a Christian’s life is not being able to get what they believe to work in their lives.

You’ve got people who have studied and believed that it’s God’s will to heal them. They know from scripture that Jesus bore our sicknesses and carried their pains and by His stripes they’re healed, but they just can’t get it to work.

They know they ought to be changing, to be transformed into the image of God but the only image they’ve become is the image of the person they were before salvation.

20 years later they’re still the same; they haven’t conquered their thoughts, or their desires that plague them. The same torments and fears are still there. They had a bit of a change after they got saved, but unfortunately the same sins that plague most people before they were saved seem to make their way back to take up residency once again.

Galatians 5:4 says that “You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.”

If you’ve got something tormenting you and you can’t get free of it – Christ is of no effect to you.

If you’ve got some sickness you can’t shake. If you’ve got no joy or peace in your life, if you’ve got some habitual sin you can’t get free of, then Christ has become of no effect in your life.

Simply put you no longer have contact with Christ in your heart and His divine nature and power is having no influence upon your life. When it’s all of us and none of Christ we loose all connection to the saving power that is resident in our spirits.

Some people think falling from grace means you’re not going to heaven, but it’s really just reaching the place where Christ is of no effect to you.

In defining grace, we need to find out what grace is not.

1.Grace is not God’s ability to overlook sin. Paul refuted that in Romans 6:1-2 “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

Grace is God’s ability to get you out of sin.

2.Grace is not God’s ability to accept you where you are, that’s God’s mercy that makes him able to do that.

The bible says about the New Testament, that mercy and grace have kissed.

While God can accept you as you are, His grace becomes your ability to change.

3.Grace is not unmerited favor. If I were to buy you a car as a gift, you wouldn’t tell your friends that I gave you unmerited favor. You’d tell them I bought you a car. Although the gift was unmerited favor, that’s not what it is, that’s how it came to you.

Grace is the divine influence that works on your heart to conform you to the image of His Son.

Unsolicited e-mail to people on your network has become the modern day technological plague. It’s mainly a nuisance, but also a security risk that creates an entry point for viruses on your network. Not only does it consume bandwidth and server space, but it also decreases productivity due to required, daily user maintenance. The result: lost time and money.

In the end, it is a matter of personal preference and deciding which solution best fits the needs of your organization.

Music is wonderful when listened to in the right manner. Many, however, turn the volume up to an extraordinary level because they want to hear it above the background noise, or because the thumping of the rhythm makes them feel good. Whatever the cause of it loud music is extremely damaging to the ears. Usually it is not until one gets older that the problems start and they can be quite horrendous.

The worst thing is tinnitus that generates constant ringing or noise in the nerves that is not related to anything in the environment. It is a malfunction of the hearing mechanism and the main cause is loud noise.

This can be from chain saws; music; drills; machinery; rock concerts; and so on. A friend of mine acquired it from being in the army and the guns he had to use. It is doubtful whether soldiers would be compensated for this condition when it occurs after they leave the service.

People who work with loud noise are risking their hearing and many do not know it. While it is common to have it playing in shops the assistants are unaware of the risk they are taking. Likewise, customers who have to put up with it while shopping are also in danger.

This is a general health hazard and one that governments and the medical profession should be advertising in order to prevent it causing a plague of deafness in the community. Yes! I did say deafness because my brother was in music and is driven crazy with the condition and is now deaf in one ear with reduced hearing in the other.

There is no need to play music at such a volume as to risk ear damage. More publicity should be given to the side-effects and the young especially should have explanations given to them in school so as to be aware of them.

You may never have heard of Paul Ehlrich or Thomas Malthus unless you have an interest in the Economic Principles of Scarcity. In fact Malthus died back in 1834. His Principle the Malthusian Catastrophe however lives on. Mr Ehlrich published a couple of best selling books between 1968 and 1971, including ‘Population Explosion’, ‘Eco-Catastrophe’, (that word again!), and ‘the End of Affluence’. At the time they were the best selling environmental books to date, selling millions of copies.

So well regarded was his work that he received the ‘prestigious’ Macarthur Foundation Genius Award in acknowledgment of his ‘wisdom’. Why the parentheses you ask?

Well, remember the aforementioned Malthus? He was the chap that declared in volumes of scientific rhetoric, that the price of societal improvement and welfare was impending doom, manifested as epidemic, pestilence, plague and starvation. You see the principle of scarcity states that in a world of limited resources there can be no place for aspiration to achieve. Presumably we should live in huts and embrace a life of privation and subsistence. Happy times!

Paul Ehlrich inhabits the same doomsday world as Malthus. His best selling books that garnered him his reputation including his ‘genius’ award, predicted apocalyptic disasters on a scale never before seen. Hundreds of millions would starve to death. Famine, plague and societal disintegration would become the norm. Indeed the world as we know it would collapse like a house of cards. When will this happen, you might ask? Ehlrich was remarkably specific. During the 1970’s!

I must admit to being perplexed as to the predictions his vanquished competitors came up with in the ‘genius’ award, if he won!

In a previous article I asked ‘Is Truth a Myth?’ and facetiously postulated that truth is entirely contextual and biased by our subconscious belief and value systems, which are largely a factor of our cultural up-bringing.

Hindsight is a great ally when predicting and forecasting outcomes.

At the other end of the Truth spectrum is Julian Simon, who won a famous bet with Ehlrich, that resources actually drop in price over time and therefore are not scarce, and by predicting that contrary to the assertion that we live in a world of scarcity, we actually live in a world of untold abundance.

The air is cleaner. We use less land to produce more food, thanks to the ubiquitous Corn Economy that accounts for so much of our food and packaging.

The real hero of the 20th century may be another unheralded character: Fritz Haber. It was he who managed to extract Nitrogen from the air in the form of Ammonia, the consequences of which form the basis for the abundance most Western countries enjoy today. That one innovation allowed mass fertilization to occur and the evolution of the Corn Economy.

The point is not to gloat over the misguided predictions of past scholars, but it is interesting that negative doom and gloom catastrophe and impending apocalypse is easier to sell than the more likely script, which is that the power of innovation to replace and refine our technologies is inevitably more likely.

All innovation starts with the seed of a ‘what can we improve’ question. Doomsayers prefer to build their audience on the Principles of Malthus and Ehlrich.

Nerubian Vizier

This is a particularly interesting beast that is considered to be a half-humanoid and half-spider. These characters are said to be the main rulers in the underground kingdom of the Nerubians. The Plague Eruptor is a type of walking corpse that works to spread devastation in the areas in which they visit. These terrifying characters are all part of the dreaded Scourge army that is working to destroy anything and everything in their path. While this type of character is incredibly violent, super fast, and has an unbelievable amount of strength, these characteristics are far from the most frightening ability that they have. These monstrous characters have nodules that contain the plague. When the nodules burst, it rapidly spreads the ominous sickness.

Shovel Tusks

The Shovel Tusks resemble what we know as the common moose, the only difference is that the antlers that they have on top of their head is curved back and they have tusks that they use to dig for food, and even protect themselves. These beasts have been said to be extremely territorial over their space, and will stop at absolutely nothing to protect their area from invaders.

Wendigo

These beasts are actually humanoid creatures. It is a tall creature that is relatively dense in size and works to protect the area that it resides in. In addition to this, there are two dangerous horns that actually emerge from the head of this ferocious beast. While it does reflect that of the standard orc, it is covered in fur to protect itself from the immensely cold temperatures and stands an average of about ten feet tall. While they are good at masking their location, and often reside in caves, they seem to lack basic intelligence, but have a violent temper.

Flesh Giant

The Flesh Giant is an immense creature that is literally created from an assortment of flesh pieces. In some instances, it is not uncommon to see that part of the overall composition of the beast is mechanical based. The pieces that make up the composition of this creature have been obtained from many different corpses. These beasts are enslaved to the individual that they serve, and exhibit a massive amount of strength.

Taunka

In World of Warcraft’s Wrath of the Lich King, is a type of tauren that has adjusted to the cold climates that it lives in. Their home rests in the frozen wasteland to the North known as “Northrend”. While it is believed that their demeanor is largely due to the fact that they have learned to survive in the harshest conditions, it is important to know and understand that this type of creature has recently allied with the faction of the Horde.

Jormungar

The Jormungar is a very interesting beast that will be in the Wrath of the Lich King by World of Warcraft. This particular beast is especially aggressive. In times past, it is believed that these creatures served the Nerubians in the way of heavy labor and slave like work. However, when the empire of this people collapsed, these creatures made their escape to freedom. They are strong, and can adapt quickly to their environment.

Magnataur

These creatures are quite massive in size. The upper part of their body reflects a giant, while the lower part is that of a mammoth. These creatures are relatively strong, can adapt easily, and have been known to eat their own if the case calls for it. Often described as plain out “mean” this is a misunderstood beast that has had to work diligently to survive in the toughest of times.

Iron Dwarf

The ever-popular Iron Dwarf is a Dwarf that is composed of metal. It is common to see the cities and items that they create crafted of metal as well. It is believed that they are both dwarf and titan.

Unknown Beasts

The “Unknown” Beasts are that of the:

o    Darkfallen

o    Proto-Dragon

o    Ice Troll

Until the actual release of Wrath of the Lich King, little is known about the characters. Here, you have been introduced to the Wrath of the Lich King Bestiary by World of Warcraft. It is important to know and understand these beasts so that you may engage in productive game play once you experience this expansion for yourself.
