With the launch of Microsoft’s new “Kinect” add-on for Xbox 360 comes a range of interactive games and fitness programs which by far surpass anything previously available.

There has been a good deal written about Kinect and most of it has been extremely positive. Here I would like to give you a review of Kinect Sports.

Kinect Sports.

With Kinect Sports you can make your own living room into a fabulous sports stadium with track and field events, soccer pitch and even a bowling alley. The cool thing is whatever sport you play, you are the star! There is also boxing, volleyball and table tennis.

Now this is nothing like previous systems. With Kinect you can even apply topspin.

It is very good fun and intuitive, great for parties and family gatherings. Whether you’re going for the winning goal of getting a thumping in the ring, it’s down to you and even as a spectator it really is enormously entertaining.

Details

There is a total of six individual and team based sports – beach volleyball, table tennis, soccer, boxing, track and field and bowling. Each game throwing up new challenges. It is really quick and easy to get right into the game as it is so intuitive.

Solo Sport.

There are several games for the single player with various levels of play for all ages which encourage and challenge all skill sets. Switch to party mode and compete against a friend or get a relay team together and jump in and out to get the best from your team.

Team Sport

“Kinect Sports” places your own avatar in the spotlight so that you can live the dream of world class athletes and sports stars. With that of course comes the press attention and the accolades of your team mates. You can even decorate your avatar with awards and medals for your victories.

Conclusion

It would not be an exaggeration to say this is the most fun I have ever had with an Xbox. The whole family were in hysterics. I can highly recommend the Xbox 360 kinetics games and certainly kinect sports.

Millsberry is an online virtual world game created by General Mills, the food giant. The virtual world is however 2D and not 3D. Millsberry can be played online and is totally free of cost. Once a player signs up and creates an account, he or she has a variety of options to choose from- the avatar’s outward look, the clothes etc. These things can be purchased using Millsbucks, the currency form of the game. Initially every player is provided a certain sum of money, but later, the players have to earn this money by playing different mini games.

Every player’s performance in the game is judged by the following 5 factors- Health, Fitness, Intelligence, Civics and Hunger. In fact, Millsberry is a very educative game- children get to learn to open a bank account, or to send a post at the post office and several other things, which come in handy in life.

However, what excites the children are the options available for customisation of the avatar and all the goodies they can buy once they have enough millsbucks. They can buy their own house, decorate it, make friends and visit their homes. Having said that, the virtual world lacks the X factor as it is two dimensional. One doesn’t ever get a holistic idea of how the place looks like. The navigation is a little rough and there are other technical problems as well. Because of these, the children are sometimes left dejected- they create their perfect house but somehow. It just doesn’t look that great in the game. This problem is compounded by the fact there is no preview option.

The Millsberry mini games aimed at the collection of Millsbucks are interesting. Games like Archery and Solver keep the kids hooked on Millsberry. They lay great emphasis on creative activities like music and photography. Thus, they promote these interests in kids and kids get to develop their skills here.

But again, they come with their own set of problems. The instructions for these games are very unclear and kids are left confused about the rules. Also, the games tend to become repetitive and boring after a point of time.

The plot of the game has weekly stories which are also related to mini games. These are updated regularly but still, there isn’t a central story line running through Millsberry. Nevertheless, the weekly aspect manages to keep the kids curious.

One area that is flawless in Millsberry is the safety aspect. Parents have absolutely no reason to feel worried about their kids playing Millsberry. There is no offensive language, no obscenity at all. But this is a direct implication of the fact there is no communication in the game. Millsberry lacks any interactive qualities and has only educative books. This makes the game a little monotonous. After all, kids love to interact and make friends.

Millsberry also falls short when it comes to the community aspect. There is no sense of social bonding. One would expect it to have a strong community, it being an online game. But there are no chat forums or any platform that facilitates conversations between fellow players. There are only a select few pre-determined phrases which cannot support a normal conversation.

General Mills has also used Millsberry virtual world to advertise their own products. All the food products that can be bought in the game carry their logos. These products are ridiculously over priced and this reportedly bothers parents. They believe that since everything is so expensive, children tend to get obsessed with collecting money. They are solely driven by consumerist tendencies. However, this is one of the minor problems.

Thus, Millsberry is cute and enjoyable for kids. But it has its share of technical and thematic problems which need to be looked into.

However, any class can use the helm, body armor, gloves and belt, but only a Necromancer can make use of the class-specific Shield. Unlike some other Sets, each individual item from Trang-Oul’s Avatar is decent and gives relatively good bonuses.

Analysis: Chaos Armor usually has a very high Strength Requirement, but the Requirements -40% mod makes this armor more accessible.  The 40% Faster Run/Walk is rare in body armor, but couple this with a pair of nice boots that has a good Faster Run/Walk bonus and you’ll be flying around the place. Add to that a very nice +40% to Poison Resistance and +100 Defense vs. Missile, and you’ve got a decent body armor. Wear two other items and you even get a whopping +50% to Lightning Resistance.

Amylopectin is usually found in strains of short grain rice, and its presence is characterised by stickiness on cooking. This starch is highly digestible and not advisable in diabetic diets.

In general, though white rice is of many types and strains, it is mostly starch and is best eaten in limited quantities.

Basmati, the queen of fragrance

This long, slender, fragrant grain is so special that patent wars have been and are being fought over its production. The word ‘Basmati’ itself means ‘fragrant’ in Hindi.

Nutrition-wise, it is no different from any other polished white rice. Yes, it contains amylose as its starchy constituent, and that’s the reason the pulaos and biryanis that are cooked with Basmati have beautiful, separate, long grains giving off the most delectable smells. Compared to the short grained rice varieties, Basmati has the better kind of starch.

Basmati is also more expensive than other rice strains. This fact makes it prone to adulteration. Buy a trusted brand which will give you the best value for money.

Going brown

When only the inedible outer husk of the rice grain is removed, you get brown rice. This is a whole grain with ALL its nutrients – minerals, vitamins, fatty acids, and starch- intact.

There are many benefits to eating brown rice:

It has a low glycemic index, yet is nutrition dense being filled with essential vitamins, minerals, and fibre. This makes it a better choice over white rice for diabetics.

Brown rice is rich in selenium. It is also good for maintaining a healthy cholesterol profile because it contains essential fatty acids. Brown rice, thus, benefits the heart.

Brown rice is full of fibre and is slow to digest. It makes you feel fuller for a longer time, and that’s why it’s an important part of a weight-loss diet. It is also a good digestive aid, preventing constipation and colitis with its higher fibre content.

Brown rice stays fresh for approximately six months. If you are slow to use up your supply, refrigerate it.

Germinated brown rice: seeds of health

This is unpolished brown rice which has been allowed to germinate. Experts recommend soaking brown rice for 4 to 20 hours in warm water (30-40 °C). It can also be soaked for longer hours in cooler water. This activates the germ in brown rice and increases the levels of essential amino acids like gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

Soaking brown rice reduces its chewiness and makes it softer and tastier to eat. Remember to discard the water from the soaked rice and cook in fresh water to avoid the smell that develops on soaking grains.

Germinated brown rice adds to the health benefits of eating brown rice.

GABA is good for preventing neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease.

What to eat, what to eat?

There is a whole lot of speculation, tons of advice and innumerable diet fads doing the rounds these days. All of it is supposed to boost health and well-being.

Don’t be misled by the ‘no carbs!’ chant. Carbohydrates are essential to a balanced diet. EXCESS carbohydrates are not.

In 1986, a comedy called Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, which takes place in Chicago, was released. It stars Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller, Alan Ruck as Cameron Frye, Mia Sara as Sloane Peterson, Jeffrey Jones as Ed Rooney, and Jennifer Grey as Jeannie Bueller. It is produced by John Hughes (The Breakfast Club) and Tom Jacobson (Uncle Buck). The director is John Hughes.

The story centers around a 17-year-old boy named Ferris Bueller. One day, he pretends to be sick in order to miss school and have some fun. His parents are easily fooled while his younger sister Jeannie is not. As soon as his parents and sister leave, he gets up and starts to enjoy his day off. He calls his best friend Cameron Frye and asks him to come over with the car, but he really is sick. Finally, Ferris pushes him and Cameron reluctantly agrees. Then Ferris tries to get his girlfriend Sloane Peterson out of school by having Cameron pose as her father and call Ed Rooney, the dean of students, and tell him to release her because her grandma has just died. Rooney, thinking it’s Ferris on the phone tries to catch him in a lie. But Ferris calls Rooney on a different line. The dean tries to apologize, but “Mr. Peterson” wouldn’t have it. He starts giving Rooney a hard time.

Later on, Ferris and Cameron arrive to pick her up in one of Cameron’s father’s cars, which Ferris made him take instead of his own car. Together, they all take off into downtown Chicago to have fun. Jeannie, having seen Sloane waiting outside of the school, goes to Rooney’s office to tell him Ferris is faking it, but he is not there. He has gone out himself to bust Ferris and make an example of him. His younger sister heads home to confirm that Ferris is gone. After she does, she tries calling their mom but cannot reach her. Rooney, meanwhile, breaks into the house just after she hangs up. Jeannie, thinking that it’s Ferris, quietly goes downstairs. At the same time Rooney hears Jeannie in the hall and believes it’s Ferris. They both jump out and startle each other. Jeannie kicks Rooney in the face after not recognizing him. She calls the police and they come to pick her up for making a phony phone call.

Meanwhile, Ferris and his friends have left the car at a sleazy garage. Unknown to them, the two employees there take the car out for a joy ride as the three friends are enjoying Chicago. After picking up the car, Cameron realizes that there are many more miles on the car’s odometer than he remembers, so he panics. Ferris’s best friend, then, goes into a trance and later comes out of it when he falls in a pool. They try to run off the miles by running the car backwards but it doesn’t work. In frustration, Cameron accidentally kicks the car out the back window of the garage. He finally decides to take a stand against his uptight father and will take the heat for what happened to the car. Ferris drops his girlfriend off at her place and realizes that he has five minutes to get home before his parents do. He takes a detour through some backyards and when he finally reaches his backdoor, Rooney is waiting there hoping to bust him.

One of the most interesting characters in the film is Ferris’ best friend Cameron Frye. Cameron is an uptight teenager whose father has misguided priorities and pushes his son around. What Ferris may have been trying to do when taking Cameron along was show him that “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” In the beginning, Cameron is hesitant to leave his house and join Ferris because he might get in trouble. But he goes anyway and, later, allows Ferris to make him borrow his father’s car. Later on after he comes to after falling into the trance, he realizes that he can’t hide from his father forever. After the car is destroyed, he takes a stand against his father and finally appears liberated.

A personal favorite scene is when Ferris sings “Twist and Shout” in front of the entire city of Chicago. He does this because Cameron had told him that he hadn’t seen anything good that day so far. Everyone, including Sloane and Cameron, dance to the song and the viewer can’t help but sing and dance along with them. This scene adds a great musical element to the film.

To wrap, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a great feel-good comedy and widely seen as one of the best movies of the 1980’s. It is highly recommended.

Writing articles online can be a difficult process. To make it easier, I have broken it down into three segments, and written a step-by-step method of systematically going about writing the article. The three main points are defining your audience, defining your topic, and finally writing the article. With this three-step approach, articles become a pleasure to write!

The first step in writing an article online is to define your audience. It’s important to specifically define your audience when doing any sort of marketing – which is essentially what you are doing when you are writing an article. An easy way to define your audience is to ask yourself a few questions about your “avatar.” An avatar is the epitome of what your perfect reader would be. Knowing several key things about who you want to reach and targeting the article more to that person helps you connect with your audience. This, in turn, creates more of a response from the article. For example, my title is “How to Make Money Online Writing Articles.” I would assume the majority of the people who will read this article are not professional marketers and are looking to get started in the industry. Also, if they are looking to “make money online” they must be, in some way, looking to improve their life. Whether their goals are to be with their family more, make more money, or are just looking to start a business and be their own boss.

Your second step, once your avatar is created, is to define your topic. Remember to keep your avatar in mind when doing this. You’re topic should trigger the curiosity of your avatar. (Side Note: Yahoo is very good at this. I always find myself reading some article about Tyra Banks hair or something completely random and thinking “wow, why am I reading this?”) A question always works well, or a “how to” as it requires them to read the article to gain the information. If you have more of a statement like “Internet usage is up 30% over last year!” it mostly tells the story in the title. People are much less likely to read that article as they feel they already know the bulk of it. Your topic, or title, should also take into consideration the key words you are going to use. If your key words are going to be “how to make money online” (this is called a long-tailed key word, which is recommended) then you should make every effort to put that in your title. Key words, or tags, for this article could be “how to make money online “, “writing articles”, “how to write articles”, etc. The title directly plays into these key words.

The third step, surprisingly enough, is to write the article. Doing all the research in the world and coming up with millions of catchy, wonderful titles does nothing if you don’t write the article. Some people find this part the most difficult. I find that a lot of the time, in life in general, people are so concerned with doing something well, or efficiently, or perfectly that they forget to do it at all. If you are not a great writer, I can assure you that you will be a better writer after writing numerous articles. A few tricks to writing an article are as follows:

1. Write out 3 main points you want to discuss in your article, make them 1 sentence long each.

2. Write out several (3-5) sentences that go along with each main point. These three “segments” of your article will become the three paragraphs.

3. Write 3-5 sentences to sum up your three main points. This will become your introduction.

4. Write 2-3 sentences summarizing what you discussed. This will become your conclusion.

Writing articles can be challenging when looked at as a whole. Having success in anything is a matter of systems. Once you create a system, or use one that already exists, things become much easier. In articles, or in anything in life, break down big projects into the sum of it’s parts. I will end this article with a quote that will help validate my point: “Perseverance is not a long race: it is many short races, one after another.” Turn your article (long race) into many parts (short races) and you will succeed!

Second Life is a virtual reality world which is used by people to meet others, create things, buy and sell items, work, try things out that they cannot in real life and basically create lives that mirror their dreams.

One of the biggest dreams a lot of people have is that of finding a love partner they can connect to on a deep level. In Second Life this can include having meaningful and deep romantic and sexual relationships. This is such a popular pastime that some of the most visited sites in Second Life are romantic clubs and hideouts.

But there are three things you must not do if you are thinking of dating someone, whether for a long term relationship or one night stand.

1. Not bother checking the person’s age.

There is no way to know someone’s age by their avatar. A 12 year old could be walking around in a fully adult looking avatar and a 50 year old can be in a 4 year old looking avatar. So how can you verify that the person is an adult and you are not about to commit pedophilia?

Right Click on the person’s avatar, go to Profile and see if they have the words, “Payment Info Used”. If they do, it means that the person has a credit card or other form of payment method linked to their account. Although never 100% certain, in most cases this will mean the person is an adult because most kids don’t have payment capabilities for their Second Life accounts.

Another way is to have a plot of land that you have configured to only allow age verified adults into. The Second Life age verification choice is not visible in the person’s profile, but they cannot enter a parcel that is age verified only. However, most people in second life never bother to age verify themselves in Second Life. I myself never bothered to do it. And if the person did not register payment information in their account, which is free and easy to do, then it is less likely they will not do the age verification. However, if you are serious about someone you can always ask them to do the payment and age verification so that you can have peace of mind. If they are serious about you, then they will be happy to do it.

2. Not verifying their real life gender.

I was quite surprised to find out that most of the players in Second Life are in fact men. Someone gave me and estimate of 80% men and 20% women. There is no way I can verify these numbers but I do know that there are men walking around as women and women walking around as men. I myself have met two men who were women in real life.
