To make this step easier, couples can have sex using a special type of condom, which can be provided along with the tester. After which, they can dump the semen that is collected in the condom into the cup. Then, the semen is allowed to sit in the cup for at least 15 minutes but not more than 12 hours so as to allow it to liquefy. Next, a dropper is used to draw semen from the sample, which is then transferred into the test cassette together with a few drops of blue and clear solution that is provided. The semen is allowed to soak up for a minute, then a comparison of the test with a pre-colored blue circle is done. This test is repeated so as to compare two results.

If the color of the test is lighter than the pre-colored blue circle, then the concentration is lower than the standard set by the World Health Organization. However, if it is pretty much of the same color as the circle, then the concentration is pretty much the same as the standard that has been set.
