For many years, regardless of one's political beliefs, and loyalties, nearly everyone agreed, these concepts were necessary, core components of the American way of life. However, in the last few years, many of our public officials, seem, focused on serving their core supporters, followers, personal / political agenda, and self – interest, rather than protecting these. If / when, the US, no longer stands for these principles, what does that represent, to the rest of the world? How can we maintain our standing / standards, as the champion of human rights, everywhere, when we begin to lose our credibility, by only, talking – the – talk, instead of walking – the – walk ? With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, whether freedoms, liberty, and justice, for all, is merely rhetoric, or what differentiates us, in a positive way, from the rest of the world?
1. Southern Wall: Isn't it interesting, since most Americans (all, except the Native Americans), can trace their heritage, to immigrants, President Trump's emphasis and support for his Southern Wall, seems to run, contrary, to common sense ! Since this wall, according to experts, is ineffective, inefficient, and costly, and conjures – up an image, which often related to persecution, and eliminating rights, why do Trump's core supporters, buy – into his rhetoric, and empty promises, about his reasons for focusing on this? While, in these crazy times, we need, to maintain security, and protect our citizens, at what expense? As the late, George Carlin, famously articulated, when he discussed, the risk of going too far, in that direction, after the atrocities of 9 – 11 – 01, The terrorists win , meaning, he explained, if we don't protect the basic principles, which make our way of life, special, then, we've gone astray!
2. Priorities: When we look at the apparent defined of this administration, we should recognize, the focus is on, certain segments of society, instead of the common good! What does it say, about us, if we support, and permit, any official, who emphasizes, personal / political agenda and self – interest, instead of strengthening, and improving the way of life, for all of us?
3. Appointments: Whether it is appointing judges, and justices, with a clear agenda, or, choosing individuals, whose motives, appear contrary to the expressed purpose of specific cabinet positions, it should be apparent, the American way, of life, is under attack!
Wake up, America, before it's too late! Human rights, civil rights, our environment, climate change concerns, sustainability, and protecting all our freedoms, rights and liberties, are under attack, and, if we don't address these, seriously, today, we may not like what the America , of tomorrow, looks like!
