Stack and Tilt Golf Swing Instructions

For those who play golf, they are always on the lookout for new methods and ways of doing things that will give them that certain edge over other players and improve their overall game. A new method of swinging, the stack and tilt golf swing, has been hailed as the swing of the future. It’s raw efficiency and consistency has made it popular among many different PGA tour players and has become a very hot topic among golfers everywhere. So it’s no surprise that many different people are wondering and seeking information on stack and tilt golf swing instructions.

Originally this stack and tilt method was thought up by Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett, two golf swing instructors. They are praised and recognized as being extremely innovative and fresh in their approach to the golf swing as we know it. The stack and tilt golf swing gets its name from the fact that it stacks the golfers weight over and the ball therefore creating much better contact.

Although the stack and tilt swing method is rooted in simple principles, it deviates from the normal golf swings that are in use today by most golfers who play the game. The shifting of the golfer’s weight is what makes this method so unique, as opposed to the traditional golf swing which focuses on weight shifting. By using the stack and tilt method, you’re keeping your weight over the ball and gaining back much of the control and efficiency you lose with traditional swing methods. This way your front foot has all the weight on it the entire time, improving your swing dramatically. The largest benefit of the stack and tilt method is consistency and the fact that using this method will send your ball flying farther than any other swing method currently in use. It makes for a good smooth release and more distance as a result. It utilizes the complex aspects of the human body yet it’s so simple to execute.

How To Golf Swing In The Best Possible Way

Every golfer of every level has a golf swing thought! “Don’t think” is a swing thought. The problem is most golfers’ heads are filled with awful thoughts! “Don’t hit it in the water.” “Keep your head down.” How about “Don’t shank it!” Talk about a set up for failure! In our experience, the most effective swing thoughts have very little to do with the mechanics of the swing.

However, they encourage good mechanics. What do I mean by that? Instead of “keep your head down”, the great Nick Faldo said he tried to “watch it”. He was a “witness to the strike”. This allowed him to stay focused on the shot at hand – the distance, the trajectory, the conditions – while this simple thought kept him balanced, centered and on the plane.

Below are more golf swing thoughts that we hope will help

1. A Bird In The Hand Is Like a Bird On The Score Card! Sam Snead once explained proper grip pressure as feeling like you have a bird in your hands. You want to hold it light enough to not hurt it, but tight enough to not let it fly away.

He understood that tension kills a golf swing. And, just thinking about light grip pressure is not good enough. You CAN hold it too lightly. The bird analogy offers a great frame of reference that everyone can immediately relate to. If ever golfer thought “bird in the hands” before every shot, the average score would go down in golf!

2. Drive a Nail In The Back Of The Ball – The simple image of a nail sticking out of the back of a golf ball, preferably from the bottom right quadrant to the top left quadrant, is such a great picture for golf. The idea is to think about driving the nail through the ball. This encourages an inside hit, helping fight the dreaded over the top move that kills so many golf swings.

3. Slow At The Top Of The Swing – Some people like to think of a pause at the top of the swing but that doesn’t always work. The reason is that you can pause, then

snatch the club, tightening up and causing an over the top move. SLOW is a better though.

Or, SLOW TRANSITION. You want your downswing to start slow and gather speed.

Don’t worry; you can actually swing faster at the moment of truth this way. Try swing the club back and forth feeling a nice slow transition. Swing a little faster every time for about 10 swings. You’ll be amazed at how much clubhead speed you can create!

The History of St. Louis Imperial Swing Dancing

There are a total of eight swing dance clubs located in and around the St. Louis area (including M.U.S.I.C. in Collinsville, Illinois) that are members of the Midwest Swing Dance Federation, and all of these clubs are descended from the St. Louis Imperial Dance Club that was founded in 1973. The largest of these sister clubs, the West County Swing Dance Club, has the distinction of being one of the largest swing clubs in the United States with an active membership that totals more than a thousand dancers.

Imperial Swing got its name from the Club Imperial located at Goodfellow Boulevard and West Florissant Avenue. The building, originally called Imperial Hall, was built in 1928 as a dance hall, bowling alley and restaurant/bar complex. In the 1930s and 1940s, it was the dance spot of Northwest St. Louis, just as Arcadia (later called Tune Town), the Admiral Showboat in Midtown, and the Casa Loma on the Southside, were the most popular dance halls in their respective areas. In 1952, George Edick Enterprises purchased Imperial Hall and George Edick renamed it the Club Imperial. During the early part of that decade, he operated the club as a ballroom with the theme of “a nice place for nice people.” He played “big band” music and catered primarily to private parties. He was able to regularly book guest appearances with popular performers like Stan Kenton and Louis Prima because Robert Hyland, of CBS and KMOX radio, broadcast his weekly “Coast To Coast with Bob Hyland” program from the Imperial Ballroom.

During the late 1950s and early 1960s, Edick realized that the country’s taste in music had shifted to “Rock ‘n Roll” and he used his advertising-public relations firm, to aggressively promote the Club Imperial on KWK, KXOK, WIL and WGNU. The Joe Bozzi Quintet, Jimmie (Night Train) Forrest, Chuck Berry, Dolly Parton, the Monkeys, Glen Campbell, Ike and Tina Turner and a small vocal group now called the “Fifth Dimension” are among the many artists who began their careers at his club. He promoted a “Jitterbug” contest where a couple from the Club Imperial (Teddy Cole and Kathy Burke) won the National Jitterbug Championship. During the “Rock ‘n Roll” craze, Edick held Tuesday “Teen Night” dances, and it was during these weekly dances that a jitterbug variation that became known as the “Imperial Style” of St. Louis swing was born. As the 60s progressed, music trends were changing again. The ‘roll’ started dropping out of “Rock ‘n Roll,” the ‘rock’ got harder, and the teenagers increasingly attended loud, psychedelic music concerts. Because the freak-out beats of their acid rock music was almost impossible to dance to, Edick gradually discontinued all public dances at his club.

In the 1970s, George Edick wanted to reintroduce more listenable and danceable music at Club Imperial and he found that hosting swing contests was just the ticket! He got together with Teddy Cole, the Jitterbug champion who was also a dance promoter in his own right, and they decided to sponsor a yearly St. Louis Jitterbug Contest “Imperial Style” to pick a “City Champion.” These widely publicized contests prompted many of the older, experienced dancers to come around the club again, and Edick sponsored a number of “Salute Dances” to introduce these old timers to the newer dancers. As more and more people began learning the Imperial, they began organizing into small dance groups that met in apartment complexes around the St. Louis area, and George Edick kept in touch with many of their leaders.

In 1973 Al Morris conceived the idea of forming a club, and it was his group that first met at the San Miguel apartments in St. Charles which became the St. Louis Imperial Dance Club. The founders are: Dave Cheshire, Jan Cheshire, Rick McQueen, Joan Fritz, Debbie Dustman (Wheelis) and Veronica Lynch. The new club alternated their dances between Lynch’s apartment complex in South County and the Wood Hollow apartments in West County. Edick contacted the Board and he told them that he was very interested in helping their club to fulfill their mission to keep swing dancing alive. The great promoter convinced them, with a persuasive new adaptation of his original 1950s theme, that their growing club should hold their future dances at his Club Imperial ballroom because it’s “a nice place for nice people who like to swing dance!”

Good mottos never die but unfortunately people do, and on June 11, 2002 George Edick passed away. The building is silent now but it stands, not only as a landmark where Imperial Swing all began, but also as a tribute to a man who, over his colorful, eighty-six-year lifetime, was able to convert his dreams into reality . . . not a bad epitaph!

Swingers Lifestyle Guide – How to Get Started

Getting Started

If you are like many couples today who are looking for something a little more adventurous, you have probably wondered how you can get started in the swingers lifestyle. There are more and more couples looking to spice up their relationship and swinging is a great way to do it, but there are a few caveats to be aware of. Before you decide to start swinging make sure you and your partner are completely secure in your relationship and lay down strict rules that you both will adhere to under any circumstance. If you can do just these two things then you will have a great time in the lifestyle without ever hurting your partner’s feelings. Remember, communication is the cornerstone to any good relationship and the same goes for swinging.

Swingers Websites

The easiest way to get started meeting other swingers is via the internet. There are many websites out there that promote swingers dating, but very few that are actually any good. You need to choose a site that has been around for several years and has good customer support to help you with any issues that may arise. The best swingers sites will also have plenty of pictures, videos and very few fake profiles. There are free swingers sites out there but for the most part they are full of fakes and they will be a big waste of your time. In the arena of swingers websites you definitely get what you pay for. The most important thing is to be honest when setting up your online profile and only use current and clear pictures of yourself. Since privacy is an important issue it is OK to either use photos that don’t show your face or use photo editing software to remove your face. The worst thing you can do is lie about your age, weight or any other factors that will eventually be exposed when you meet up with other couples. The best rule of thumb is to always be honest.

 Swingers Clubs

The next best way to get started is to go out to one of the local swinger’s clubs in your city. This can be a little intimidating at first but just be yourself and initiate conversation with a few people and before you know it you’ll be making new friends. You will find that swinger’s are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. In fact some of the people you already know are probably in the lifestyle, so be prepared if you see them in the club. Most swingers clubs are BYOB so make sure you bring a bottle of your favorite alcohol and drop it off either at the entrance or with the bartender depending on the club rules. Once you meet another couple or single you like you have two options, you can either go into the on site playrooms or leave and go to a hotel or your house. Both of these are good options and you’ll figure out which one works best for you.

Private Parties

Once you have been active in the lifestyle for a little while you will probably start receiving invitations to private house parties. These types of parties are great because it is a more relaxed setting and it is generally a more comfortable environment than a club. These types of swingers parties operate like any other normal party with one exception; if you find another couple you are attracted to you can head off to one of the bedrooms with each other. You can also find private parties listed in Craigslist or other social networking sites such as yahoo groups.

Types of Swingers

Now that you know how to meet other swingers you need to know the different types of swinger’s. The soft swing is generally the best way to get started. The same room soft swing is when two couples are intimate in the same room with their own partner. Girl on girl only is when the girls get together and play while the guys either sit on the sideline or play with their own partner at the same time. The soft wife swap is when couples switch partners mainly for oral stimulation and then go back to their partner for full intimacy. These types of swingers make up a large part of those in the lifestyle and the soft swing is a great way to get started. The more advanced swingers usually go for the full swap where partners are fully exchanged.  No matter how you decide to get started swinging don’t be afraid to ask more experienced swingers for advice. The swinging lifestyle is certainly not for everyone, but it can be very fulfilling and provide a lifetime of fun for you and your partner.

Whips in Movies (Or, Get a Rope)

The other day while talking with some friends the subject of whips came up. Someone asked me, “Does it seem like more people contact you about buying a whip soon after they’ve seen a whip in a recent movie release?” The answer is always “yes.” Without a doubt, whips featured in movies create or rekindle an interest in whips among movie-goers. People who are avid whip-crackers decide it’s time for a new whip, while some who’ve never cracked a whip or had little interest in it, now feel like they’d like to give a shot at learning to handle a whip. So, movies featuring whips means an increase in whip sales among whipmakers.

Unfortunately, though movies have helped much in stirring an interest in whip-cracking from time to time, they do account for some impractical uses of whips. One of them… swinging or climbing with a whip.

Flashback: Indiana Jones swinging across the seemingly bottomless pit with his bullwhip wrapped around the wooden beam overhead.

Can this be done? Sure it can. Should it be done? Only if you absolutely needed to escape from a booby-trapped temple that’s falling apart and caving in around you. A whip can be used to swing from, though every whipmaker who takes pride in the whips he builds for a living will tell you, as do I, that a whip isn’t made for the purpose of swinging over chasms or rivers or from building to building. It is made to crack. If it’s used for any climbing or swinging, there’s a good chance of damaging the whip. Here’s just three ways in which a whip can suffer damage when used for swinging or repeated climbing:

1. Separation of handle & core.

2. Breaking of strands, either internal or external.

3. Stretching of strands, weakening their strength & causing gaps in the plaiting.

A good bullwhip is built in layers. I won’t go into depth on whip construction, rather give a simple breakdown on a whip’s components. A bullwhip starts with a handle & an attached core. Over this is usually a plaited (braided) layer of strands, whether leather or nylon, to a pre-determined length. Next, there’s usually some form of bolster covering this plaited portion. Another layer is plaited over this with a specified number of strands to another pre-determined length & longer than the first layer of plaiting. From here, another bolster or plaited layer can be added, depending on the desired thickness of the whip when it’s finished.

The internal components of a whip are integral to how a whip handles & cracks. One particular area of concern, when it relates to bullwhips, is what is known as the transition zone, or transition area. It’s that particular juncture where the solid handle & the core of the whip meet. Some whipmakers make this area very stiff with the binding of each layer of construction, usually with artificial sinew or waxed thread. Some whipmakers simply rely on the tightness of the plaiting to keep this area strong. This area receives much stress when a whip is cracked. It also would receive even more stress if a whip were to be held by the handle when using the whip to swing or climb. This area’s strength can be greatly compromised if the whip is used for swinging or climbing, even separation of handle from core.

More damage that could befall the whip is a strand or two breaking on the whip from excessive force. This can happen either on the inside of a whip; which would most likely never be known unless in fact the whip broke through completely at that point; or it could happen on the outer layer of the whip, showing more readily. This now makes for an ugly looking whip.

The least amount of damage that I can think of happening to a whip that’s used for swinging or climbing would be stretching. I don’t believe that a whip that’s used for swinging or climbing will definitely be ruined and unable to use for its intended purpose of cracking. Yet I do feel that the strength of the plaiting will be weakened to an unknown degree when used for those activities and the whip’s life-span will be shortened. Once the whip is stretched to a good deal, it has changed dynamically, both in function & esthetically. Will it still crack? Most likely, yes. Yet there may be gaps showing between the individual strands of plaiting. Again, this causes the whip’s appearance to look rather ugly.

In the movies, when a character swings from a whip, it’s usually not a finely crafted whip that he’s swinging from. Rather, it’s a cable that’s been covered with braiding to appear as a whip. Usually the handle end has some type of coupling or fastener that clips onto a harness or belt the actor is wearing. Even if there is no attachment, still the whip being used is not likely a whip at all. Safety is a top priority when stunts are performed and a cable is stronger than a whip.

Many, many times customers ask me how much weight will one of my whips hold. Right away, I know where they’re going with this. They want to know how much a whip can support in safely swinging or climbing. I always say that a whip is designed to crack and not to be used for anything else. Of course, if you’re facing a survival situation, and a whip is the only thing to use to climb up a high wall or fence, or swing over a pit, anything is fair game when it comes to saving a life. Otherwise, get a rope.

Widen the Arc of Your Golf Swing to Add 25 Yards to Your Drives

Driving the golf ball farther is largely a function of maximizing clubhead speed through impact. If you want to add 25 yards or more to your drives, one of the most effective swing thoughts you can have is to focus on a wider swing rather than a taller swing.

The Ceiling-to-Floor Golf Swing

Imagine swinging your driver in a room of your house (no furniture, of course!). Most golfers waste club head speed with a swing that is too vertical – that is, their swing is focused on going from the floor to the ceiling to the floor again. The vertical golf swing is narrow and very up-and-down, and its shape resembles a “V.”

Because the clubhead cannot go through the ball into the floor, the vertical swing has to expend swing speed through a cast from the top or an early release. Whenever either of these symptoms happens, the clubhead reaches its maximum velocity before it ever contacts the golf ball.

The vertical golf swing can be caused by a number of factors:

  • Picking the club up with the hands to start the backswing;
  • hinging the wrists too early in the backswing;
  • not turning the shoulders;
  • reverse weight shift or spine angle change; or
  • lack of a pivot or weight shift on the backswing.

Fundamentally, however, the vertical golf swing usually has a “hit the ball” focus rather than a “swing to the target” focus. It may be possible to address any swing flaws simply by changing the focus of your golf swing rather than trying to fix the swing flaws directly, because if the underlying focus does not change, the symptomatic flaws are not likely to go away.

The Wall-to-Wall Golf Swing

Contrast the vertical golf swing with the wide golf swing. With a wider golf swing the golfer feels like they are trying to reach the walls of the room rather than the ceiling and floor.

The golfer who tries to reach the walls of the room develops a “U” shaped swing rather than a “V” shaped swing. The U shape allows the club to accelerate through the ball all the way to the target, maximizing clubhead speed through the ball and therefore increasing distance.

With a focus on a wall-to-wall swing many swing “flaws” fix themselves. A U-shaped swing will help the shoulders turn, reduce or eliminate early wrist hinge, make the weight shift feel more comfortable and natural, and eliminate spine angle changes.

Address the Fundamental Issue: Swing to the Target, Not the Ball

More fundamentally, however, the wall-to-wall swing can help the golfer change the focus of the swing from hitting the ball to swinging to the target. It is far more effective to make a swing change by addressing the fundamental underlying cause than it is to treat the symptoms.

One caveat: the wall-to-wall swing requires maintaining your leverage position and making a good pivot. The hips should not move laterally. It is not unusual when changing to a wider swing to see golfers sway (the lateral hip motion) rather than turn. Therefore when making the change to a wall-to-wall swing, consider working in tandem on both the wider arc and a better, more leveraged pivot. Switch back and forth every 3 to 5 practice shots between the wider arc swing and the leveraged pivot swing until the two work seamlessly together.

A Wider Golf Swing Means More Distance

Widening your swing arc can improve your driving distance 25 to 50 yards. Thinking “wall-to-wall” rather than “ceiling-to-floor” will produce a “U” shaped golf swing that will increase clubhead speed through the ball and simultaneously address many common swing flaws. When done in tandem with an efficient, leveraged pivot, the result will be effortless power and consistently longer drives.

Golf Downswing – Here is the Real Secret

Where does the golf downswing start? With your arms and your shoulders, or your feet and legs? You will find disciples of both schools of thought, however more golfers will agree that the lower body begins the downswing. There have been enough studies done to verify that this is the best starting place for the swing. Now pay attention here. When we talk of the lower body, we are not necessarily talking about the legs and feet.

If you are like me, you have done everything from swinging the left knee outward, to kicking the right knee toward the target, to sliding both knees toward the target. It seems that all of these movements start the club swinging in a different direction but not necessarily in the right direction. Let me give you a word of advice here: When you concentrate on starting the swing with your legs, you will more than likely overdo or exaggerate the movement and end up with a big slide or bump that throws the body out of sync and destroys the downswing. When you focus on any one part of your body, the tendency will be to overdo the movement in that area. If you overdo the leg and hip action, you will ruin your swing.

Starting the downswing with the lower body is as simple as moving the center of gravity toward the left side. Your center of gravity is your belly button.

Here is the secret that helped me get it right. Imagine that twelve o’clock on the clock face is directly in front of you. As you are completing the back swing, the belly button is moving toward the right heel. Now while the club is still moving backward, begin pushing your belly button toward the ten o’clock position. You can do this rather forcefully and not overdo the legs and hips.

This forward pull while still completing the backswing will further extend the arms for a big arc and increase the X-factor you have heard so much about. The hips and legs will be moving in support of this move, but will stay in control. Simply allow the extended arms and club to sling forward in response to the pull of the belly button.

If you want to see a perfect example of this, go to the nearest baseball park where the six to eight year old kids are playing and watch those perfect swings as the belly leads. You will see lots of perfect little golf swings here. If these youngsters stay away from instructions about right and wrong positioning, they will maintain perfect forward swings.

You have a perfect golf downswing inside of you just begging to be set in motion.

A Brief History of Swing Dance

Swing is a very energetic and unique dance. It can be simple or complex, but you can be assured it’s always fun. There are many different styles or versions of it, each with distinct characteristics. As its name implies, it is known for its swings, lifts and spins that can sometimes be quite complicated. It’s a quick dance that requires a considerable degree of physical fitness. In this article we’ll take a quick look at its history.

The history of swing begins with the history of Lindy hop. Lindy hop originated in the late 1920s in New York and reached huge popularity in the 30s and 40s. It has its roots in the Charleston and Foxtrot and was danced to what was at a time called jazz music. Jazz music was also known as swing music and the dances danced to it became known as swing dances. Lindy hop got its name after Charles Lindbergh, the famous aviator. It is still danced today.

In general, the term swing refers to a group of dances that were developed in the 20s, 30s and 40s of the last century. With the rising popularity of jazz music many different forms of dances like Lindy hop evolved: Jitterbug, Balboa, East coast and West coast swing, Boogie-woogie, Collegiate Shag, St. Louis Shag, and Imperial Swing, just to name a few.

Although originally danced to the swing style of jazz music, you can dance to a wide variety of music styles, from country and pop to rock and roll. As music changed from the 1920s so did the dances. Rock and roll music brought, well, rock and roll. Rhythm & Blues music brought Imperial Swing, Carolina shag, and so on.

Like jazz, swing grew out of the African American communities. With the help of American soldiers during the WWII, it spread all around the world. Today, it is one of the most popular dances enjoyed worldwide.

Swinger Lifestyle 101 – Swinger Etiquette Rules To Live By

We all want to have fun with the people we meet, and the best way to achieve this is by adhering to good old-fashioned manners. Here are some swinger etiquette rules to live by to be sure you have the best time possible:

  • The Golden Rule: “NO Means NO”. Anyone may say “NO” for any reason at any time, even if you are in the middle of a swinging encounter and have changed your mind and want to stop it right there. If you are in a situation that makes you uncomfortable, just say “NO”. Do not jeopardize your happiness and satisfaction with this lifestyle, or that of your partner by doing something against your will, just because you are afraid to say no. The friendliest way to say it is, “Oh no thank you, but thanks for asking”. Be honest initially, and you will avoid any misunderstandings. Don’t forget that people’s attitudes change, and maybe sometime in the future you may meet again with a different opinion.
  • Always treat one another with respect. After all, this is a party! Besides, you do not want to be rude or judgmental, because you would not want it to happen to you. If a single gentleman talks to you and you are interested in swinging with couples only, that doesn’t mean you can’t be nice to him. He’s a person just like you, so just politely let him know.
  • Do NOT take personal offense if you are rejected (and it happens to everyone, including women). Rejection is a very personal thing, and it’s almost as hard to reject as it is to be rejected. Being honest with each other is crucial, and who knows? You could end up with a great friendship if you handle the situation right.
  • Deal with jealousy head on! It is a normal reaction. Remember that this is strictly a physical and recreational pleasure, not an emotional one. Discover what triggers jealousy in your relationship and work it out together. It may mean modifying your activities, but your relationship together is not worth jeopardizing over swinging.
  • Always let your partner know she/he is number one. Arrive together and leave together. Take time to caress your partner and touch base often to help him/her feel secure.
  • Be kind, thoughtful, and sensitive. Use your common sense and good judgment when you are involved in a swinging situation. All swingers, including single males and females have feelings!
  • Honor any and all prior understandings & rules you have made between each other, and be sure to COMMUNICATE with each other openly and honestly so there are no misunderstandings about your rules.
  • Respect the guidelines you set as a couple and communicate them to prospective partners. Open and honest communication is imperative to forming relationships. Don’t forget to respect the guidelines of others, and don’t try to talk them into changing the rules because you don’t happen to agree with them!
  • Pay attention to body language. There is more to interaction than words. Consider the body language of the person you are talking with, and it might tell you more than the conversation you are having! Be sensitive to the person and you will know what makes them uncomfortable or happy and excited.
  • Demand absolute discretion and be worthy of the same. Discretion is paramount in this lifestyle and privacy is imperative! Never, ever discuss details inappropriately. Everything you do, everything you see, MUST remain private. There is a saying, “Everything you see here, and everything you hear here must remain here when you leave.”
  • Swinger House Parties – Swinger Etiquette Rules For A Private Swinger House Party

We all want to have fun with the people we meet and the best way to achieve this is by adhering to good old-fashioned manners. Here are some swinger etiquette rules to live by to be sure you have the best time possible and that you’ll be invited to the next party:

  • Always arrive at the party on time. Being punctual is more important at swinger parties than at most other social gatherings. If you are running behind, call and let the host know that you will be late so they can go ahead and start the party while waiting for you.
  • Arrive at and leave the party as a couple. Unless prior arrangements have been made with the host beforehand, arrive and leave the party as a couple. It is frowned upon by most hosts and other swingers at the party to leave his/her partner at the party as a single.
  • Follow parking instructions. The hosts know what they need to do to stay on good terms with surrounding neighbors, and this includes making parking arrangements. Wrongful parking and blocking traffic is not only illegal, but a good way to set the neighbors off and dissolve any good terms they previously had with the hosts.
  • Do not bring valuables. Always keep money, jewelry, and other valuables to a minimum.
  • Come clean and fresh. Take a shower, brush your teeth, shave, clip and clean your fingernails, and take care of any other personal hygiene items that need to be done. If you turn up a mess, it is not likely that you will be invited to the next party.
  • Follow the host’s rules. Rules are meant for each and everyone at the party to follow to unsure that everyone will have a great time.
  • Don’t be a bedroom “cruiser”. If you need to open a door to see if there is a bed available for you to use, do it quietly. Do not disturb the swinging enjoyment of others by talking loudly, entering another activity without an invitation, or watching without consent. These actions are considered rude and offensive. Pulling back curtains, turning lights on, and going into private swing areas to see if you can get involved are major breaches of swinging etiquette.
  • Never bring illegal drugs and or substances. This is not only violating a basic rule of swinging etiquette, but you will subject yourself, other guests, and the hosts to prosecution for possession of illegal drugs.
  • Drink alcohol wisely. If a party is BYOB (bring your own booze), only consume what you bring. Only drink as much as your body can handle. Nothing is more disgusting than having to clean up the mess if you drink too much. It’s also very embarrassing if you can’t perform when sex is called for!
  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke in any non-designated area. This will not only affect others at the party, but it will also create a mess and more importantly, a fire hazard. This is one of the most violated rules of swinging etiquette, and one of the most likely to make you an unwelcome guest.
  • Do not take pictures. Taking pictures at a party can arouse strong opinions and feelings, so make sure you have specific approval from each guest before you point your camera, or else your Kodak moment might become a catastrophe.
  • Do not gossip. Do not to talk about anyone who is not present at the party. If you are discussing an experience that you were displeased with, do not talk about those who were involved in a depreciating manner. This will only cause those listening to wonder what you say about them when they’re not around.
  • Do not overstay your welcome. Younger guests, especially those without children, have a tendency to hang around until dawn. Even though your hosts have gone through a lot of trouble to show you a great time, they may not always be complimented by your staying all night. If over half of the guests have left the party and you have not been specifically invited to stay longer, take that as a hint and leave.
