As an individual raised with little opportunity to develop social skills, I had a particularly difficult time with the dating scene. On the rare occasions you hear a lot of negatives, keep going until you discover a positive.

In China, a lion is regarded as a guardian creature. The Chinese use these powerful beasts as protection as well as to ward off harmful and evil spirits. Lion Dancing is the most popular folk dance in China. Without going through the ceremony of Kai Guang, a new lion should not be used In lion dance tradition. Kai Guang or Dian Jing means eye dotting or eye opening. This is a ceremony where a special chosen person is assigned to dot the eyes of the lion. Chinese stores usually have a Buddhist, Taoist or ancestral altar or shrine. In front of this altar, the new lion is laid out. Originated in China one thousand years ago, the lion dance is categorized into two major styles, Southern and Northern. Many television shows give us a look at how the courts of the world work. They actually involve four characters only. The guilty person, or rather the alleged guilty person, because you’re innocent until proven guilty.

Then there’s the prosecutor, usually the state. This person defends justice and must prove that the accused is really guilty. The judge is the one who must eventually decide whether the charges against the accused have been proven or not.

And then there’s the attorney. In TV series they are usually presented to viewers as being very confident. I think you need an outgoing personality to give your everything to have an accused walk out of the courtroom free, guilty or not.

That’s exactly what Jesus does for all His friends and family in the courtrooms of heaven. And the one truth above all else is that all His clients are guilty. Each and every charge brought by the prosecutor, or to put it in Biblical terms, God’s law, against the accused, is true.

All of these cases agree that the accused, that’s us, are guilty and, therefore, we deserve eternal fire. But then the attorney, Jesus, gets up and walks to the bench where the Highest Judge, God, is sitting.

He says nothing. He shrugs, half lifts His arms, palms out, as if saying: “Yes! It’s all true!”. But then the Judge sees the holes in the Attorney’s hands and knows the Attorney has already paid the penalty for the accused.

Without saying anything further, the Judge lifts the gravel, taps the bench and says softly: “Not guilty!”. Everybody clap, hug one another, laugh and cry, because God’s grace and Jesus’ death on the cross are more than enough.

25He’s there from now to eternity to save everyone who comes to God through him, always on the job to speak up for them.

Wow, how can we who believe in Jesus not wait for this to happen? How wonderful it will be to hear that gravel hitting the bench and you hear God says to you: “Not guilty!”

And you don’t have to be afraid that Jesus will retire from being your attorney and that when you get to the courtroom, you’ll have to be satisfied with a second-in-charge priest or prophet. Jesus will be there for ever and ever, for all eternity, to defend every friend, every brother and every sister who believe in Him.

How fortunate are we who believe in Him!

So, go and live out in the world. Go and tell everybody that you, who are one of the biggest sinners, has an Attorney who wins every case He takes on.

Astor Piazzolla’s Milonga del Angel is a track that is adored by many. Astor Piazzolla named this song after the title of his 1993 album which carries the same title. The Milonga is a type of music that immediately precedes the tango music and the tango dance. Therefore, many references to milonga often refers to a type of dance similar to the tango but is executed more softly than the original tango. To accompany this lighter form of dance, the Milonga often starts slow and sentimental to reflect how soft the feeling and emotions should be. The Milonga del angel was meant to attract a large American following. Therefore, Astor Piazzolla wanted to compose the music building upon the most recognizable aspects in music by many Americans.

The album’s stealthy style is no different than the sensual music that is often produced by the famous Milonga. The Milonga del angel is just as complex as beautiful as the original Milonga. There are many elements that make up this beautiful arrangement. Some of these elements that invoke the emotions sought out by the composer includes: strummed bass chords, violin lines, piano chords, a bandoneon and an electric bass. With all of the elements working harmoniously together, there are times where it may seem as if the listener is in a small Jazz pub. Astor Piazzolla purposely composed the music to invoke this exact feeling. Not only did Piazzolla record this music to reflect hints of Jazz, he loved Jazz so much that the entire record had small underlining hints of Jazz.

Saint George, Minister for the Environment, had been summoned by King Freddie to investigate the problem of a baby Hungarian woggalog, hatched in the royal menagerie, who refused to eat Marmorgugelhupf cake. The door opened quickly to reveal an alert and grinning Jack, happy to see his master safely home. ‘Ah, I see you’ve brought the court jester,’ he quipped.

While they sat eating their Gloucestershire shepherd’s pasties and Winterbourne wafers, George decided to start quizzing Jack on the problem of the day. ‘A woggalog that won’t eat cake,’ exclaimed Jack, ‘now that is serious.’

‘Yes, we must find an alternative pacifier,’ said Merlin, ‘and George thinks that you might be able to suggest something from your seafaring days.’

‘It’s a funny thing,’ said Jack, ‘but ever since the PS came back with the Marmorgugelhupf cake I had a feeling that I had seen something like that before. I puzzled about it for a long time until one day the memory came back.’

‘What was it?’ chorused George and Merlin.

‘I told the PS about it at the time.’

‘Yes, but what was it?’

‘It’s fufu!’ said Jack triumphantly.

‘Fufu?’ yelled the PS and PM, ‘What’s fufu?’

‘Fufu is very big in the Gold Coast,’ said Jack. ‘Everyone eats it.’

‘But what is it?’ insisted Merlin. ‘What’s it made of?’

‘Dunno,’ said Jack. ‘Looks a bit like bread dough before the baker puts it in the oven.’

So, let’s be honest with one another. To stay on the narrow road is not easy in today’s world. Well, there are those fortunate ones for whom it seems to come easy, but for most of us it’s a constant battle.

The devil knows exactly what our weak points are. He keeps hammering at that exact point with a small hammer, hoping to break down the wall one time or another. And often these are not those so-called “on the wrong side of the fence” matters.

No, it can be things like just work harder. Spend more time realising your dreams. Just work a little bit harder for the next bonus. And without realising it, we drift away from God, because so many other things in our lives become more important than Him.

It’s also true that some things creep softly into your life. Without you realising it, they grow into an addiction over the years and suddenly you have a problem.

I want to say again, it’s not easy to walk in the middle of the road. We get angry quickly and say and do things that aren’t right. Our business is under pressure and then we’re forced to do things that aren’t right.

Sometimes our marriages and relationships go through hard times and then we look for solutions in the wrong places, ending up with a big mess. There are probably thousands of examples of things that do not form part of the world of light and that we face every day.

What do you struggle with?

It’s not that easy.

We must realise that it’s hard, that it drains your energy, and, yes, sometimes that it’s a major struggle to stay on the straight and narrow. 11So let’s keep at it and eventually arrive at the place of rest, not drop out through some sort of disobedience. We must strive, try our utmost, do everything possible, work our fingers to the bone, to ensure that we don’t miss our goal.

It’s a full-time job. The world is like a magnet trying to pull you away from and off God’s way. We must know that. We must be prepared for that. We must take it into consideration. We must be armed against it. And when the temptations cross our path, we must root it out of our lives completely.

Yes, we all know and believe whole-heartedly that Jesus has already prepared our place in heaven and that we don’t have to do anything to walk into heaven. Jesus has already done that for us on the cross.

However, we need to be on our guard against being blinded by the world and taking the wrong turns. It’s a fight between life and death. A constant battle. May God’s Spirit help us in this battle, because we’re simply too weak to do it on our own.
