Discover the Two Sides in Cyprus

Cyprus is an island state divided in two, between Greece (in the south) and Turkey (in the north). A clear division, bounded by borders, which in recent years has led to a different economic and cultural development. And, of course, tourism. To the south is very developed tourism, hotels with well-organized, local restaurants and ports for the boats in the most characteristic. The most popular, Limassol, Paphos, Ayia Napa, Kyrenia, the beach of Fig Tree Bay. This area of the island is very popular with Anglo-Saxon and Scandinavian tourists, but also many Italians who spend their summer holidays on these shores.

In the north, however, time seems to stand still. Here, the island has remained more faithful to its roots and has recently developed over the years. Even from a tourism point of view. The beaches of Famagusta, as wide as the Rio de Janeiro, but as an unspoiled atoll of the Maldives, or Rizokarpaso, the location on the edge extreme east of Cyprus, are already accessible, but does not offer much for the accommodation. Those who spend their holidays in Cyprus, usually comes on these beaches for a day trip, but then returns in the most tourist and fun. Some yard is already beginning to develop and, on the Internet, there are advertisements for the sale of apartments, for those who wish to invest.

The news of the fall of the wall in Nicosia, the last remaining bastion that symbolized the division of the two areas under the control of two different countries, is well to think of a much larger development of that part of the island hidden beaches pristine, wild and isolated

The Importance of the Left Side in the Hammer Throw

The left side is one of the most overlooked aspects of the hammer throw. With the emphasis of strength in our system, there has been a single minded focus on the right side in American hammer throwing. While the right side provides acceleration for the system, the left side must be active to reduce time in single support and allow the athlete to catch the ball sooner. Just like walking, to be a successful hammer thrower, the athlete must find balance between both the left and right sides.

The successful hammer throw must start with proper winds. The winds, are another article unto themselves. After the completion of the final wind, the right-handed hammer thrower settles into his entry position and pushes the ball from 270 through 0 and continues to strive to push to 90 degrees. However, between 0 and 30 degrees, the left side takes over. The left arm stays relaxed and allows the ball to run long around the shoulder axis, while the left knee begins to drive down at 90 degrees to minimize the time in single support and facilitate an early catch of the hammer between 180 and 230 degrees. It is difficult or impossible (depending on whose research you read) to accelerate an implement with only one foot on the ground, so it is important to reduce the negative acceleration that occurs in single support, which in turn allows for a longer double support phase to continue to accelerate the system.

It is important to “let the ball be free” on the left side, with a relaxed upper body, allowing the ball to continue in its natural path, instead of trying to muscle it and pull it out of its orbit. As the weight transfers back and forth from the right to left leg, It is important to balance the force of the right leg with an equal force of the left leg. This is seen by the athlete “digging in” at 90 degrees, staying on the sole of the left foot and attempting to curl the toes down while driving the knee down. The rotation of the system and the drive of the right foot will turn the athlete to 180 degrees where the “digging in” of the left foot caused the athlete to step forward producing the linear acceleration to the turn.

Too often hammer throwers “float” over the left side. This is seen when the athlete rises on the left knee, get onto the side of the left foot, and hangs in single support too long, resulting in over-rotation of the turn.

Submission and Love – Two Sides of the Same Coin

Ephesians 5:22 commands the wife to submit to her husband while Ephesians 5:25 commands the husband to love his wife. But are these two separate things? I don’t think so.

Submission is always an act of love and love is always an act of submission. These are not unrelated commands. In fact, they may be one in the same. Love is not some warm, fuzzy, or tingling feeling that you get. Love is an action that involves submission, or the giving up of something important to you so that someone else may benefit.

John 3:16 says that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. God submitted His Son, Jesus Christ, into the hands of sinners to be tortured and ultimately killed so that these same torturers and murders would have a means to get to heaven. That is love. But it was also a tremendous act of submission.

The Bible says in John 15:13: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Again, we see that this great love is accompanied by an act of great submission. Submission and love go hand in hand.

Even in Ephesians 5:25 where God commands the husband to love his wife, He gave the example of Jesus and the Church: “…even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” Jesus loved the Church by giving up His life for it. Again, we see that love and submission are one and the same thing.

Jesus, while talking to the Disciples, said in John 14:15, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” Thus, one means of loving Jesus is to submit your will to His commands.

When there is true love, there is true submission. You can’t have the one without the other. Every time I love my wife, I submit my will to hers. I choose to do something that she wants rather than what I want. She, in turn, does the same for me.

So why then did God word it this way? Why didn’t He simply use the word ‘love’ or ‘submit’ in both instances? I believe God had it worded in such a way in order to appeal the greatest to our natures as men and women.

Women define themselves by their relationships. When a woman is insecure, she often seeks to dominate or control the relationship in order to feel good about it-feel secure. Even during her attempts to control the relationship, she will think she is loving her man. She won’t necessarily see it as anything else. God used the word ‘submit’ because it strikes at the heart of her actions. She isn’t loving until she is submitting.

Men, on the other hand, define themselves by their work or their capacity to perform a duty or role. Most men, however, do not willingly surrender these roles to anyone, man or woman. They tend to say, ‘I can do it myself’, ‘I don’t need any help’, ‘I don’t need directions’ and so forth. When you use the word ‘submit’ a man thinks of surrender. Most men get stubborn when you tell them surrender. But using the word ‘love’, will strike at the heart of a man’s failure. In refusing to budge, or give an inch, he hasn’t loved his wife as he ought to. Get him to love, and he will have submitted. He needs to understand that submission is not an act of surrender, but an act of love.

God, I believe, chose these words to fit best with our nature and particular roles. It merely demonstrates how smart and intelligent God is.

Some Nerve: Which Championship Sides Will Prevail, After a Season of Reluctant Front Runners?

With only five football matches left of the regular 2014-15 Championship season in England, the identity of its winners and runners-up remain anyone’s guess.

This is in stark contrast to last year, which almost resembled a season-long victory parade for Leicester, who won the title with an impressive 102 points. Burnley cantered home behind them, a comfortable eight points superior to nearest challengers Derby. Only the battle for the sixth and final play-off place provoked any cause for excitement, as Brighton pipped Reading on the last day with a late winner at Nottingham Forest.

This time around, an awesome octet of teams each have a mathematical chance of nailing an automatic promotion place, from current leaders Bournemouth (77 points) all the way down to eighth-placed Ipswich (68). While the triumphant two are most likely to come from the current top four, who have opened a four-point gap down to stuttering Derby in fifth, the diffident conduct of table-toppers throughout the season illustrates that no team is more vulnerable than when they’re out in front.

Indeed, leadership of the division has changed hands an incredible twenty times; of the current top six, only sixth-placed Wolves have failed to sit atop the table at any stage. Add long-forgotten early season pacesetters Nottingham Forest, who twice held top spot, for a total of 38 days, and one would be forgiven for picturing the Championship trophy covered in butter, so difficult has it proved to hold on to pole position.

Yet Bournemouth will be hoping to do just that as they enter the home straight, having found their way to the top seven times, subsequently falling from their perch on no less than six. Their domination from mid-December until early February will prove to be the longest of any team’s lofty residence this season, totalling 59 days of their top-of-the-table tally, which has now hit three digits. Derby have amassed the second highest total, with 56 days of leadership divided over three spells. However, a recent seven game winless streak seems to have put paid to their hopes of ensnaring a top two position. While dyed-in-the-(Rams)-wool believers will still hope to claw back a five-point deficit to second place (76 points), realistically Steve McClaren’s team will be aiming to tie down a play-off spot, amidst fierce competition from the three teams around them: in-form Wolves (71 points); dangerous Brentford (70), and resilient Ipswich. (Whether fans can bear the possibility of the same heartache they experienced in last year’s Wembley final, remains to be seen.)

Norwich led the pack twice early in the season, until a prolonged spell of unremarkable form saw a change of manager, leading to an astonishing resurgence under the incoming Alex Neil, a relatively inexperienced (and unusually youthful) option to manage a club with such high expectations. What Neil lacks in management hours, however, he arguably makes up for in success, having taken his Hamilton side back to the top flight in Scotland last year, and then briefly to the summit in their first season there. Having found their way to second place after a run of ten wins in thirteen games, their relatively straightforward remaining fixtures may help to ensure that the Canaries return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Completing the top four are Watford (76 points) and Middlesbrough (75), who met on Easter Monday in a match that saw the latter defeated 0-2 and simultaneously deposed from first position. Indeed, these two teams, of all contestants, have proved to have the shakiest grasp on top spot, having both held it on four occasions, without ever managing to settle in and get comfortable. Middlesbrough’s tally of days at the top numbers only thirteen; Watford’s still fewer – just ten.

So, with only five match days remaining, what further drama might we expect? And who will emerge triumphant? It is certainly difficult to see beyond Bournemouth’s scintillating and successful brand of football – provided they continue to “play the game, not the occasion” and do not experience the kind of jitters one might forgive from a team who find themselves on the verge of gracing the top flight for the first time in their history. Their recent revival against Birmingham, in which they overturned a troubling two-goal deficit to prevail with consummate ease, suggests they may finally be ready to take the bull by the horns. Mirroring Norwich, the Cherries have an eminently winnable set of fixtures for the run-in, placing their destiny very much in their own hands.

Wolverhampton’s late season charge (four straight wins at this moment in time) may convince many that they are ready to storm the play-offs – providing they are not overhauled by another astonishing push from Brentford, this year’s surprise package. Despite the enduring class of Bakary Sako, and the goal impetus provided by new year signing Benik Afobe, perhaps Wolves still lack the all-round quality that would surely be needed to oust a Middlesbrough or a Derby over two legs; indeed, most would agree that the guile and experience of both sides is likely to stand them in good stead when the playing field is levelled and four teams begin anew in pursuit of that final promotion spot. Do not rule out Watford, however, whose three-pronged strikeforce has proved on many an occasion just as deadly as their defence has seemed suspect.

This pundit’s tip?

Bournemouth and Norwich, with Derby to make up for last year’s Wembley woes second time around.

May the best teams win!

Three Poems: Dona Leonor’s Revenge; The Old Moon; Common Sides [All in Spanish/all in English]

1) Doña Leonor’s Revenge

[1627 AD]

Rafael Ortiz’s fate

Was on the plate

Of Doña Leonor’s

When she arrived

In Lima, Peru;

To taste revenge

For the beheading

Of her husband.

And so the plot

…was now played out

(in an alleyway)

As she gutted her trout!

Translated by Nancy Penaloza

La leyenda de:

La venganza de doña Leonor

(1627 después de cristo)

El destino de Rafael Ortiz

Estaba sobre el plato

De doña Leonor.

Cuando ella llegó

A Lima Perú;

Para saborear la venganza

Por la decapitación

De su esposo.

Y entonces el complot

Fue llevado a su fin ahora

(En un callejón)

Como ella destripó su trucha!

2) The Old Moon

The winds, the winds–moments pass

Pass into years, years and more years

And the moon continues to make light

Upon me, with eerie fearless nights…

Under its passing shadows at twilight

She stands alone, looking into my eyes;

At dusk, we linger on, down the path

Like live sphinxes…she follows me:

Looking, looking down, down at me….

There is a time between now and then

I call it forever…and soon…

But that’s between me and you–

Me, and you and the twilight moon.

She has her secret eyes you know

Blinking across sky and meadow

Passing, passing soundlessly…by…

Blinking across meadow and sky!…

Spanish Version

La Luna Vieja

[The Old Moon]

Los vientos, los vientos–momentos pasan

Pasan convirtiéndose en años, años y más años

Y la luna continúa produciendo luz

Sobre mi y espeluznantes noches intrépidas…

Bajo sus pasajeras sombras en el crepúsculo

Ella está sola, mirando en mis ojos;

Al anochecer, nos rezagamos, a lo largo del camino

Como una esfinge viva…ella me sigue:

Mirando, mirando abajo, mirándome a mí…

Hay un tiempo entre ahora y entonces

Llamo a esto para siempre…y pronto…

Pero esto es entre mi y tú–

3) Common Sides [English Versión]

Youth has its age

And age its pride;

One thinks he knows

The other thinks why;

But youth and age

With separate ties–

Have common sides:

Life, death, and quest,

And a hope chest

That never rests.

Estos nunca descansan.

Success and Failure – Two Sides of a Coin

Each one of us wants to live more fulfilling and happy life. Most often, we read many articles, books and quotes explaining the recipe to become successful. Although the words incorporated in them are so motivating most of the times, they fail in making any impact on our lives. Moreover, why it is so? The answer to this question is another question. Yes, do we really observe the depth of the words? No, what we do is we just scan another bunch of words seeking for success.

One such quote I came across says, “If you really want to succeed in life, form the habit of doing things that failures don’t like to do.”we cannot judge any person by merely looking at him. However, we daily come across three types of people in our life. The one who are satisfied and famous, second who are unsatisfied and deprived and the third, who try to do something new every day, fails in achieving it by end of the day and then make a try again in a different way. What will you rate these three type of persons? Let me guess, the first one is a successful person and other two are failures. Here it is where we make a big mistake.

  • People who are preserving their possessions by the fear of losing it and showing that they are thoroughly satisfied and enjoying life are failure.
  • In addition, the persons who see the past, have excuses and wishes but do not have guts to make it happen are the failures.

Here is where we find the answer to the quote above. The only thing, which failures do not like to do, is to make a TRY. Trials play the flip part of the coin, the coin of life. Trials may be tragedy or triumphs, but one good thing you can assure about it is, you will learn something from it, if it works, be happy and keep going with your experience because, triumphs don’t come without efforts; and if it don’t then stop yourself from repeating the same mistake, try to analyze where you’re going wrong.

Most successful people have never searched for success actually, in fact, they are the busiest people around us because they just did things, which they loved to do and believed that they can do, and in doing so, they made many mistakes and came across many failures. However, the only different thing they did from others was, they tried to learn from their mistakes and avoided repeating it. That is the best quality of a successful person.

If you want to be successful, you need to learn how to turn your negatives into positive.

  • Your failures are the opportunity to begin again. You may find many obstacles that will set you back and disappoint you but, you need to overcome it and move on.
  • You need to keep your eye on what you want and not the other way round. Failures are just the events and never a person, until he quits or give up, you need to persist your aim until you have satisfaction of doing your job well and you attain your ultimate objective.

CONCLUSION:

Believe in your potential, try to do things in a different way, don’t fear of making mistakes, increase your failure rate learn from them and keep going because success and failure are two sides of a coin. Always remember: Every success story is also a story of great failures.

Choosing the Best Sides, Drinks and Desserts to Go With Pizza

Ah, piping hot pizza! Some folks could live on pizza alone, never eating anything else. The average American devours an amazing 23 pounds of pizza each year, and even more pizza if they live in a college dorm. And while pizza is definitely an American (and global) staple food, there are certain side items, beverages, and desserts that seem to be custom made to go with this favorite culinary treat.

Sides

Pizza is a filling meal in itself, but adding side items to your pizza delivery order can make it even more special. The most commonly requested side items to go with pizza include:

• Appetizers, like bread sticks, chicken strips, mozzarella cheese sticks, cheese bread, grilled eggplant, Buffalo wings, quesadillas, potato skins, nachos, calamari, coconut shrimp, or steamed clams. The type of appetizer that you choose will likely depend on the type of pizza that you order.

• Salad. A simple green salad is a great accompanying side item to go with your Issaquah pizza, but you can order a more robust salad as well. From chef’s salad to a plain garden salad, you can bone up on your veggies while enjoying a perfect side dish to go with your pizza.

Drinks

Many folks prefer the old stand-by drink for washing down their delicious pizza meal – soda. Soda, whether in cola, citrus, root beer, or other flavors, is an ideal beverage that can also be purchased in diet form for those who are watching their waistlines. Fruit juices are also a good choice that is a bit of a break from the norm for those who are big soda drinkers. The healthiest drink of all to have with your pizza is sparkling mineral water, which has no calories at all. For those who prefer a beverage with a bit more head to it, there’s always beer, either in tap or from a bottle. And for the sophisticate on your list who wants to enjoy their pizza in true Italian style, wine in a favorite vintage can really cleanse the palette at the end of the meal. Wine a bit too much? Enjoy a wine cooler instead for fewer calories and less of a punch.

Dessert

Some say that dessert is the best part of the meal, while others say that desert is entirely overrated and that they can’t afford the calories! Dessert adds a pleasant end to any meal, especially when served with a hot cup of coffee or tea. Pastry desserts like baklava are always a popular treat when eating Italian. Baklava is a golden pastry with flaky layers that are separated only by syrup and walnuts. Tiramisu is another Italian favorite. This rich cake is drenched in espresso and layered with a mousse made from mascarpone cheese and then topped off with cocoa sugar. From ice cream to cheesecake to pie, there are many desserts that fit the bill for topping off your pizza meal.

The Pitt-Jolie-Aniston Debate – A Tale of Two Tees – Who Sides With Whom and Why

The debate continues over the exact nature of the relationship between Mr. and Mrs. Smith stars, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and what role their “friendship” played in the collapse of Pitt’s marriage to Jennifer Aniston. As women choose sides, the controversy has turned into a tale of two tees as women buy t-shirts to show their support.

T-Shirts for Team Aniston and Team Jolie

Cashing on this controversy, is Kitson, a business savvy boutique that’s selling baseball T-shirts that say “Team Aniston” or “Team Jolie.” The $30 trendy tees, made by White Trash Charms, were recently featured in People magazine. Women can now show the world where their loyalties lie. So far Team Aniston is in the lead.

Who Chooses Which Side And Why

Have you ever wondered who chooses which side and why? In a recent interview with Brittany Schaeffer of the New York Daily News asked my opinion about the type of women who support Angelina, those who support Jen; and why women choose the sides they do.

Read on for my assessment of the players on Team Aniston and Team Jolie:

Team Aniston

Women who support Jen by wearing the Team Aniston tees tend to be

o Scorned wives, ex-wives, and single women who have been cheated on in the past. With an estimated 38 to 53 million female victims of infidelity, it’s no surprise that Team Aniston tees are currently outselling Team Jolie tees by a margin of 20 to 1.

o Women who feel Angelina deliberately seduced Brad away from Jen, even if she didn’t actually sleep with him – yet.

o Women who blame Angelina for the split between Brad and Jen.

o Women who view Angelina as a predator with a hidden agenda that included seducing her co-star in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. (Angelina admits that she always falls in love with her male co-stars.)

o Women who identify with Jen’s sweet, innocent, girl-next-door image.

o Women who believe Angelina’s self-described role of being a shoulder for Brad to cry on was all a part of her scheme to snare him.

o Women who are convinced that showing Brad what a wonderful mother she is, was part of Angelina’s strategy to win Brad’s heart — especially since children are his hot button.

o Women who feel that Jen got a raw deal in all this whole affair.

Team Jolie

Women who align themselves with Angelina by sporting the Team Jolie tee tend to be

o Women who identify with the mistress or the “Other Woman”

o Sexy, sultry, seductive types, or women who identify with these traits.

o Women who subscribe to the theory of “put your man first and do whatever it takes to keep him.”

o Women who fault Jen for putting her career ahead of her husband.

o Women who feel that since Brad felt so strongly about having children, Jen should have given him a child. Since money was not an issue, they could have easily hired a Nanny so Jen could continue to pursue her acting career.

o Women who feel that if a woman doesn’t do the things necessary to hold onto her man, then she deserves to lose him.

o Women who feel that Angelina was not to blame for Brad and Jen’s divorce.

o Women who feel that Brad and Angelina make a better ( sexier, more interesting) couple than Bran and Jen.

Meanwhile, the tee shirts are selling like hotcakes, as women choose sides and show their support. And the controversy is boosting box office sales for Mr. and Mrs. Smith, which remains among the top 5 summer movies. Team Jolie tees showed a brief surge in sales the week Mr. and Mrs. Smith was released, but Team Aniston tees still hold the lead. (They’re on back order right now, so if you want one, there’s currently a 2-week wait.)

Nobody Blames Brad

What’s interesting to note is that hardly anyone is holding Brad responsible for his role in the situation. Most people overlook the fact that regardless of the state of Brad’s marriage at the time, he made the final decision on how far to let the situation with Jolie go. Much of the blame for the split rests squarely on his shoulders. He obviously saw the situation developing, but did nothing to put a cap on it or to sever the growing friendship between himself and Angelina Jolie.

Pitt continues to maintain that he and Jolie are “just friends.” But new photos of them as a couple seem to pop up every week. The most recent ones appeared in People magazine. Maybe Brad needs a T-shirt that says “We’re Just Friends” to help him get the message across. Meanwhile, Angelina continues to insist that she and Brad never had sex. How about a T-shirt for her that says “We’re NOT having an affair.”

Inappropriate Friendships Can Ruin a Marriage

Directly or indirectly, Brad’s “friendship” with Angelina seems to have been a contributing factor to the collapse of his marriage to Jen. Inappropriate friendships with members of the opposite sex can undermine a marriage even if there’s no sex involved. The Pitt-Jolie “friendship” is a perfect example of that. Whatever the exact nature of their relationship, it’s obvious that the two are very close. Inappropriate friendships like these can lead to emotional infidelity, which can be just as destructive to a marriage as the real thing. And sexual infidelity is usually not far behind. I think what we really need is a T-shirt that warns everyone “Today’s inappropriate friendship is tomorrow’s extramarital affair.”

How to Be Successful: Overcome Perfectionism and Procrastination – Two Sides of the Same Coin

Perfectionism and procrastination are usually considered separate, unrelated topics. However, when examined closely, they are more like kissing cousins than casual friends.

Procrastination is an obvious block to success and accomplishment; while the other, perfectionism appears as one’s desire to present quality and accuracy. More often than not, they both serve the same purpose… preventing you from achieving your goals and dreams. Let’s take a closer look to see what I mean.

Perfectionism… the power play of the ego! I’ve had my own issues and experiences with perfectionism. One thing I’ve learned about it is that viewing something as ‘perfect’ is relative to where we are at a particular time in our growth and awareness.

I’m still working on totally overcoming it, but now I’m much better at realizing when I’m giving into it. It was an obstacle to being and presenting my best self for a long time. When I learned to let go of it and allow my inner self to express ‘me’ as I am, things began flowing much better, and I accomplished a lot more.

When I look back at some of the work I once thought was ‘perfect’, well… it doesn’t look so perfect now. I’ve grown and evolved; and my beliefs and perceptions have changed.

While most of my work still makes me proud, other projects appear under-developed or unpolished. And, some of it makes me say to myself… ‘what was I thinking when I wrote or did that!’

For example, I started writing a book a few years after losing my son. It seemed so enlightened and powerful at the time. I spent years re-writing, revising and trying to ‘make it perfect’.

I had so much to say and I wanted it to be just right. In the end, I never published it. I worked on it for years, but it was never completed. To me, it was never the shining example of perfection I wanted it to be.

Now when I look at the manuscript, I regret that I didn’t complete it and let it be published. I had a message that was never delivered. Those I wanted to help, never got to read what I was offering, which means we all lost the benefit of that missed opportunity.

Now let’s take a look at procrastination. Simply put, this is the one habit that will stop you in your tracks. We all do it, even successful people procrastinate. The difference is they’ve learned to recognize it and have developed techniques to control and overcome it.

Procrastination shows up in many ways. When it comes time to work on our projects and tasks, we subconsciously look for, and find every excuse in the world to avoid doing them.

In the office, we take bathroom breaks, visit with fellow employees, get coffee, make phone calls, maybe surf the net! At home, we play with the kids, walk the dog, do house work, water the plants, make phone calls, and yes, surf the net… do you see where I’m going with this?

Now, it’s okay if you procrastinate occasionally; and don’t beat yourself up about it. But, you must recognize the signs when you’re doing it and take steps to stop it before it stops you.

While perfectionism appears to be a positive attribute and is perceived as something to be admired, procrastination is widely recognized for what it really is… an obstacle to your success.

The bottom line is whether you’re a perfectionist or a procrastinator the end result is the same… you miss deadlines, fail to complete projects and achieve your goals and dreams.

If these time-wasting, energy-consuming behaviors are allowed to continue unchecked, you’ll end up feeling frustrated and defeated at every turn.

No matter how talented and capable you are, you’ll never realize your full potential until you master and control these behaviors.

So, what’s the answer? It’s simple, though not necessarily easy. First, learn to identify which behavior you’re exhibiting, and when.

Are you continually re-working, re-writing, and revising projects which cause you to miss or postpone deadlines? That could be a sign of perfectionism.

Instead, put your best effort into completing your project, make reasonable revisions and release it as complete… on time. When you’ve done your best, you know it and the feelings of success and accomplishment are your rewards.

When you’re procrastinating, you have difficulty even starting a project. You get knots in your stomach, feel anxious, restless and even guilty.

But, once you move through the procrastination and complete a milestone or a task, you feel relaxed, satisfied and motivated. This gives you a sense of success and accomplishment and raises your self-confidence.

Now that you know how to recognize which behavior you’re exhibiting you’ll be able to decide which actions to take. I said the answer was simple, but not necessarily easy.

The truth is you are the solution. And how you handle these challenges is up to you.

Taking action requires will power, focus and self-discipline. Make the decision to change the self-defeating behaviors of perfectionism and procrastination and choose to experience success and accomplishment instead.

Make a plan. The next time you start to procrastinate, stop yourself; take 3 deep breaths and do something related to your project or work.

When you see perfectionism rising, set a deadline for completing a phase or milestone, and stick to it. Give it your best, then allow it to be complete and move on to the next phase or project.

As with all things in life, it comes down to making choices. You can choose to continue experiencing the limitations and resistance of perfectionism and procrastination, or embrace the freedom and exhilaration that comes with achievement and success.

Procrastination and perfectionism, or success and achievement; which of these two kissing cousins would you rather have in your family? Choose wisely… you’ll be spending the rest of your life with them. Perfect!

Neither Side

Those two words can mean different things. Think of two people or two groups who argue with each other about a subject, a proposal, a theme, a law, or most anything. Someone or some group that is not aligned with either of those distinct people or groups might be a compromiser, a peace maker, or might distract them by introducing some point or argument different from the two options that are being discussed.

In politics, compromise is normally proposed by a politician from one or the other of the two sides. But, that situation does not fit my article. An outsider might do it, but within the outsider’s core principles, does he or she really have no allegiance to one or the other side? Difficult to tell.

During War, sometimes an opposing nation switches sides to became the other side’s ally (in order to survive, in order to become favored by the stronger side as war develops, or to punish their original ally for not being true to an important promise made to them). That situation does not fit my article either. “Neither side” is an absolute (unrelated, neither qualified nor diminished) statement of position. It literally means that “I or we will not support you,” and it is said to each side. Can you think of an example of that? Can you understand how either (or both) sides can work with a third-party who proclaims that he, she, or they have a side of their own?

Even writing or saying that presents a difficulty. By definition, a side is left or right of center. A side of a house is a wall, and a wall only makes sense if there are at least 3 (usually there are four) complementing walls that complete the building, along with a floor and roof. A side begins at the edge of something that is in the middle. One side opposes another side. Look at the title again. Just because the person or group belongs to neither of two sides, it does not necessarily mean that he, she, or they is a side at all. I have found one clear example of who is the object of “Neither Side.” Web Search Joshua 5: 13-15.

Joshua, Moses’ Second-in-Command, was In Command when this happened because Moses was dead. Moses had led the Hebrew people out of bondage in Egypt, as God had commanded him. God had remained close, had regularly communicated with Moses, and through Moses, he had worked tirelessly to shape the Hebrew people to be the nation that he had promised to Abraham. For forty years, these people fell short of being worthy to receive God’s promise of land to dwell in as a nation of God’s people. Literally, they wandered, falling short of deserving, until they all died. Joshua was of the next generation, born to experience the wandering as it happened. Joshua’s generation was all about listening to God and doing what he commanded.

So, imagine that you are Joshua, leading an armed Hebrew force into Canaan (the land that was promised), full of faith in God, ready to take the city of Jericho, and you encounter this daunting warrior who draws his sword on you and tells you that his allegiance as the Commander of God’s Army of Angels is on, “Neither Side, plus get your shoes off because God is right here!” Now, think about today, about your country. Have you heard someone say, “God is on our side?” Do you see what an arrogant and incorrect thing that is to say?

Joshua wrote the Book of Joshua, a summary of his 20 years of leadership of the Hebrew people. The Book was made available (many copies) after Joshua’s death, around 1399 BC. He understood how important it was for the Hebrew people to always be on God’s side. Had he lived to see it, Joshua would have had profound regret that the Hebrews would again behave in ways that were counter to God’s purpose, and that their suffering would be greater than that of their enslaved ancestors. Yet, God would send prophets to tell them that a Messiah would come one day to show them the way back to him. Consider reading the entire Book of Joshua in order to understand the beginning of the time when the Hebrew people became the chosen people of God. This was the Alpha of that nation which links to the Omega of the Nation of Israel today.
