Conical Flask

History:

It is also known as the Emil Erlenmeyer Flask, named after its German inventor, Emil Erlenmeyer, is commonly used in laboratories. It is flat bottomed, with a graduated conical base which tapers towards the neck. The narrow, cylindrical neck and the wide, flat bottom not only make it more stable, but also reduce chances of spilling, particularly when shaking the contents. The narrow neck prevents loss due to evaporation. Made of borosilicate glass, these flasks can withstand high (or low) temperatures and are commonly used for heating liquids in laboratories

Definition:

A CONICAL FLASK is also known as Erlenmeyer Flask. It is defined as a type of laboratory glassware which consist of a flat conical bottom with acylindrical neck. The main advantages in an flask are that it is less likely to tip over than a beaker and the smaller neck which slows evaporative loss. It can also be swirled without fear of the contents spilling.

How to use

Requirements:

1. Conical Flask

2. Ring Stand

3. Clamp

4. Funnel

5. Wire gauge

6. Burner

1. Take the desired amount of the liquid you are working with slowly into the FLASK using a funnel. Mix the solution by shaking all the contents. Try to use smaller quantities of solution to ensure more thorough mixing and to avoid spilling.

2. Adjust the FLASK into the clamp ensuring that the grip is firm. Place a Bunsen burner below the CONICAL FLASK and adjust the flask in manner that it lies above the ring.. Place the wire gauge mesh between the ring and the bottom of the flask to prevent the flask from touching direct flames, and gradually heat the solution.

3. Now wait for the cooldown of the flask remove the Bunsen burner, and carefully remove the flask out. Use a clamp to secure the second container into which you want to pour the contents of the conical flask. If you are pouring the contents into a test tube, make sure that it is positioned slightly at an angle away from you. Place a funnel on the container in order to prevent spilling. Remove the rubber stopper from the flask, if present, and carefully pour out the contents into the funnel, checking the graduated scale in order to transfer the desired quantity.

Various uses:

1. It is used for the titration especially of pH. 2 It is used to heat the chemicals with the bunsen burner. 3 It is used for mixing substances. 4 The Another benefit of the CONICAL FLASK wide base is the stability it provides. This is particularly important in the laboratory where the experimenter must often handle highly reactive and even dangerous substances.

Some CONICAL FLASK manufactures in India are:

1. Kshitij Innovations

2. Labtech International

3. Labtech International

4. Nexus Enterprises

5. Naugra Exports

Bolting Mudsills to a Cement Foundation

Do you know if your house is bolted to the foundation? Bolting is a type of seismic retrofitting that secures a home’s mudsill to its concrete foundation. Mudsill is the horizontal wood that sits on top of the foundation. It is the bottom of an exterior wall that connects the frame of the house to the footing.

Mudsills that aren’t connected to the foundation (or poorly connected) will start to move during a quake, along with the walls they are attached to. This motion can cause gas lines to break and electrical wires to pull out. Floors can also be damaged. If the shaking is severe, the entire building may end up collapsing.

When the mudsill is properly anchor bolted to the concrete, it prevents the home from slipping and sliding during seismic activity.

Bolting a home to its foundation became a Uniform Building Code requirement in 1949. However, it took almost 10 years for local government to implement the code. Consequently, most homes built before 1960 have not been bolted to their foundations. Without bolting, an earthquake can shake the home off of its foundation.

You can check to see if your home’s mudsill has been bolted by going into your crawl space or basement and looking for thick bolts across the top of the sill. You should see bolts every 4 to 6 feet. There should also be steel anchor plates connecting the edge of the sill to the foundation’s side.

If you find any rusted bolts, they will need to be replaced. Rusted bolts are more common in moisture-prone areas.

Also look for recessed bolts. When the foundation is poured and bolts aren’t sticking up high enough, the mudsill around the bolt needs to be chiseled to get the nut on. This can make it difficult to tighten the nuts and virtually impossible for any anchor plates to be installed. Recessed bolts should be replaced.

An important point regarding bolting is the depth of penetration into the concrete. There are minimum and standard depth requirements depending on the type of anchor bolts being used. A foundation contractor can determine if bolts are at the proper depth.

Replacing bolts can be difficult because of the tight space. A foundation repair expert will know which bolts need to be replaced in addition to having all of the tools that will be needed to get the job done right.

Bolting is only one part of the retrofitting process. Even homes that are bolted can suffer severe damage from a quake if the cripple walls haven’t been braced properly. The cripple wall is the short wall between the first floor and the foundation. Cripple walls need reinforcement with sturdy materials like plywood. Stucco and wood siding does not provide enough support for the walls.

The best way to find out if your home is properly bolted, is to contact a foundation contractor, a specialist in this area, and ask for a free inspection. Getting help from a foundation repair expert will save you time, money and potential damage from the next big quake.

Hypnosis and Speed Dating – 2 Easy Ways to Hypnotize Your Date in a Heartbeat

In this article we are going to look at hypnosis and speed dating. If you aren’t familiar with speed dating, it’s simply ALL about making a good first impression…and FAST! (as you only have about 8 minutes to do it before you move on to the NEXT date.) Conversational hypnosis is a VERY powerful tool to make all of the dates you “meet” on your speed dating excursion POWERFULLY, hypnotically and inexplicably attracted to you! Read on.

Body Language Modeling

One of the easiest ways to establish rapport in ANY scenario is through body language modeling. Nowhere is this MORE powerfully evident than in speed dating scenarios. If she leans left….you lean left. If he uses his hands to talk….you DO the very same thing! It’s a subliminal thing – but VERY effective in bonding beneath the surface. Remember, MOST of the science of love (and lust!) takes place on a subliminal level, and body language is a powerfully erotic dance between two people, that if you can MASTER…you are MORE than half way there!

Pattern Interruption

Simply looking for small, subtle ways to use interruption behavior is VERY powerful in a speed dating scenario. The handshake induction, for example, was one of Erikson’s most POWERFUL tools when he taught and lectured about NLP and conversational hypnosis. Where is a BETTER or more appropriate place to try this but in THIS atmosphere? It’s perfect! You are going to be shaking EVERYONE’S hand anyway – and of course you want to be memorable to boot.

This is a made for TV perfect way to use the power of something a LITTLE bit out of the ordinary when shaking hands, and then in that BRIEF moment where the subconscious of the subject (your “date”) is a little confused, uncertain and VERY receptive….you simply IMPLANT a powerful statement of positive suggestion. It’s FAR easier than these words can convey of course…and if you are already practicing this regularly, you know what I mean!

Homemade Bodybuilding Recipes Tips

When you decide that you will become a bodybuilder with such great figure you are committed to mind about your diet. This includes the commitment to take tasteless soy or whey protein powders. No doubt that you will be bored at certain point you run your regime. But if you have big passion on it you will ignore your tasteful ego and simply sacrifice it for better future.

In the other side, people who are used to take flavored protein shake powder spend such enormous amount of money and will get bored eventually. If you take the protein shakes on daily basis the boredom will surely strike you. This can be depressing for some people when they try to add some other ingredients to make the shakes taste better.

When you are bored with this, all you need to back on the track is a blender and creative bodybuilding recipes.

Before we begin, let’s agree that our focus is not only making tasty protein shakes, but also making one’s coping the dieting requirements. It is crucial so that we can be wise when picking the ingredients for the shakes.

So, what are the best ingredients to make this healthy and delicious shake? First of all, I would like to recommend you to take as many natural ingredients as possible. Canned products, processed ingredients, and kinds of these are not great option, so leave them. For example, you want to purchase the fresh pineapple instead of canned pineapple. The natural version is always better in your diet.

In such healthy bodybuilding recipes, you can focus on the ingredients that will boost your shakes protein profile such a nuts. I am sure you will know the good proportion of nuts you should add without making the shake thicker. You can also add some whey powder as well.

The next tips for your bodybuilding recipes has thing to do with the way you will take the shakes. Sometimes it is pretty annoying to spoon your shake than drinking it. But such consistency is pretty common. Well, if you have your own recipe, it is of course different. It is great idea to add some liquids like water in order to decrease the tense consistency of the shake. And you will be having a nice mouth-watering shake to make your day.

Last but not least, you need to evaluate and examine the nutritional information for each ingredient you are about to add to the shake. This can be cons of your own recipe, but it does not hurt to spare your time to examine at the first time. Then the next you can stick to “fixed” recipes.

The Power of Eye Contact

On the last day of a recent “Bad Boy With A Heart” boot-camp here in Sarasota, Florida, I took my students out to The Tiki Bar for lunch.  We all sat at the bar.  I placed myself at the end.  I do this on purpose.  I always sit in the best place… the place that actually separates me from everyone else.  So, if a girl walks by, I have the opportunity to hit eye contact with her… which opens up the possibility to actually get to know her.

About 10 minutes after we sat down, a group of 3 girls and 2 guys walked up to the other end of where the students were sitting at the bar.  One of the girls was super cute.  My student sitting on the end started going against everything we were talking about all weekend.  He fell into his old way of thinking (what the “community” taught him) and started throwing openers and banter lines out to the girl standing next to him.

I was watching him totally mess up this interaction the entire time… shaking my head.  The girl he was talking to was shaking her head as well.

Meantime, I was hitting eye contact with the super cute girl that was behind them.  After her group ordered their drinks, they walked to a table and sat down.  Super cute girl conveniently placed herself where she could see me so we could continue to hit eye contact.   Her companions sat in spots where I could not see them from my seat.

I continued to hit eye contact with super cute girl.  A few minutes went by.  Then, one of the guys in the group came up to me and told me that his sister was talking about me and wanted to meet me.  (The power of the eyes at work!)   I talked to him for a few minutes… just chillin’ like I always do… no jumping up and getting all excited (which most guys would do).  I just acted like I didn’t care to really meet her.  While we chatted, my coaches took the students back to the seminar room.  I stayed behind.

Once they were gone, the brother called his sister over and everyone else came up to the bar.  I walked over and started talking to super cute girl… with whom I had been consistently hitting eye contact while talking to the guy.  It was so simple.  I said, “So you wanted to meet me, huh?” as I looked into her eyes… not thinking about anything else.  Instant connection.

Then, one of the other girls asked me if I knew that guy that was at the other end of the bar.  I said “Yeah, he is a friend of mine.  Why?”  They all laughed.  She started talking about the pickup lines he was using on her.  She went on to tell me what he said but honestly I don’t remember what it was.

She said, “Wow!  Now, I’ve heard them all!”

I laughed along with them.  Then, the girl I was talking to asked me to go with them to hang out at some party. Obviously, I couldn’t because I had to get back to the boot-camp.  So, I told her I had to get going.  She offered me her number.  I said, “Here, I will write mine down.  Give me a call if you would like to hang out some time.”

The point is that while everyone is sitting and eating like they normally do, I am picking up women… like I normally do.  There were no stupid pickup lines.  There was no approach anxiety.  (Heck, there wasn’t even an approach!)  There was no frustration or negative thoughts going through my head.  It was just purely natural… the way I always meet women.

You can pick up women like this all the time.  It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing… as long as you’re aware, laid back, chill, and comfortable in your own skin.  But most of all… you’re just having a good time wherever you are.

With my instruction, my student who messed up the interaction has since stopped using those lines by internalizing the correct Magnetic Mindset and has improved immensely. He realized that is not the way.

3 Benefits of Using a Test Sieve Shaker for Particle-Size Analysis

The automated test sieve shaker plays an important role in many Quality Control programs. Quality managers from a wide range of manufacturing settings, including those found in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, chemical and food processing industries, rely on mechanized test sieve shakers to ensure that the products they produce are of consistent quality and composition, regardless of when or where they are produced. This is because these shakers are the key to conducting effective particle-size analysis using sieve testing methods.

The first automated test sieve shaker was introduced to the market in the early 1900s. Prior to that time, sieve testing was a manual process which relied on human input in order to ascertain the relative size and distribution of particles within test samples. During testing, laboratory technicians had to “tap” or shake them by hand in order to separate larger particles from smaller ones in their quest to determine the overall composition of the sample being tested. This process was tedious, time-consuming and highly susceptible to human error.

One problem with this manual method of sieve testing was that it was virtually impossible to control and regulate. For example, some testers would shake the test sieves more vigorously than others. This, in turn, would cause excess static to build up on the test screens and lead to inconsistent final results. In addition, the amount of force applied to the sieves by a single individual would often vary throughout the testing process. Again, this type of discrepancy could interfere with the outcome of individual tests.

Without question, the fluctuations associated with manually shaking test sieves led to a number of challenges in terms of collecting meaningful data. Fortunately, the introduction of the automated sieve shaker has alleviated many of these concerns for Quality Control professionals.

Here are 3 Benefits of Using an Automated Test Sieve Shaker for Particle-Size Analysis:

  1. More Consistent and Accurate Results. The first mechanical test sieve shaker was designed to replicate the hand motions used in manual testing scenarios. By automating this process, test sieve shakers are able to provide a much higher level of continuity throughout the testing process. As a result, they can produce more accurate and repeatable results regardless of when or where a test is performed.
  2. Increased Efficiency. Manually shaking test sieves is both time consuming and labor intensive. A mechanical sieve shaker is able to replicate and replace the human input needed to perform this type of testing. This means that more material can be tested in less time and with fewer resources invested.
  3. Cost Savings. Employing humans to conduct these tests represents ongoing costs in the form of wages and fringe benefits. In addition, downtime related to illness or personal absences also translates into lost productivity and increased opportunity cost. The modern shaker is both reliable and durable. As a result, it doesn’t require a lot of expensive maintenance or need replaced often. Over time, these factors can translate into substantial cost savings.

Based on these reasons, it is easy to see how the automated test sieve shaker has vastly improved the use of sieve testing to perform particle-size analysis for Quality Control purposes.

Vibratory Finishing Machines For the Glossy Finish

Finishing machines are used for the finishing process that is carried out on parts for the purposes of cleaning, deburring, polishing and separation of parts. There are many types of finishing machines. The two important and widely used ones are the tumbling barrel machines and the vibratory finishing machines. In the tumbling variety, a huge barrel holds the parts and finishing media, compounds and water. In the vibratory finishing machines, there are usually tubs or bowls that undergo a shaking action at a particular speed. The shaking action is caused by a shaft that is attached to the tub or bowl.

The vibratory finishing machines come as large floor models (that can be fixed to the floor) or as smaller bench models (that are fixed on tables or benches). When the machine shakes at a high rate of speed, it causes the parts and the media to rub against each other thus resulting in cleaning and polishing. Using the vibrating machines, it is possible to get a very precise cutting of burrs and parts. They are also very effective in removing debris and dirt lodged in nooks and crannies, like a bore for instance. This sort of cleaning is not possible in a tumbling barrel. Vibratory finishing machines are ideally suited for use on delicate and intricate parts; also for large and bulky surfaces like wing spans – because they have high speeds combined with very short strokes. This provides powerful finishing but at the same time places very less stress on the parts. Vibratory finishing machines can be automated or semi automated quite easily and are good for continuous or batch processing.

Finishing or deburring media are materials that provide an abrasive action on parts to aid in the finishing process. They can be natural or man made. They come in different shapes and sizes depending on the requirements. When media is used in finishing machines, they accomplish finishing tasks like cleaning of oils, grease, dirt, grime etc and deburring of jagged edges or removing extra material from parts. Natural deburring media like walnut shells and corn cob media are made from naturally available material – they are non toxic, environment friendly, reusable and cost effective.

Man made deburring media like ceramic media and plastic deburring media are used for heavy and aggressive finishing. They come in different shapes and sizes. Some of the standard shapes found in the deburring media are cones, cylinders, pyramids, three headed stars, triangles etc. These shapes aid in polishing and cleaning hard to reach recesses in the parts. Depending on the shape and size of the holes in the parts, the shape of the media is chosen. If the part has a complex design with many corners having different shapes, then a combination of media shapes can be used to achieve uniform finish in the parts. Companies having a vast experience in the finishing industry generally have the expertise to find tailor made solutions to any deburring requirements.

The Solar Plexus Chakra

Hello!

This week we are moving into the third chakra, the Solar Plexus. This chakra is very much about individuation, and our place in the world. When we are balanced in this chakra, this manifests as being connected with others, without losing ourselves in the other, and remaining aware of our ultimate aloneness.

The Solar Plexus chakra is situated just below the ribs, and is related to the organs to do with digestion – the liver, the stomach, and the pancreas. Conditions that are often related to a third chakra imbalance are digestive issues, allergies, crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome and diabetes.

When we are imbalanced in this chakra, we can often feel as though we are victims in our own lives, powerless to change our situation and stuck. (I think this emotional stuckness is often reflected in the physical stuckness of elimination which can lead to the diseases talked about earlier to do with digestion.) The root emotion below all of this is often unexpressed anger. As well as manifesting in terms of powerlessness (which is associated with a deficiency in this chakra) it can also manifest as an excess: being power-hungry, aggressive and controlling others.

The balanced position in this chakra is one where we have a healthy, balanced sense of our own worth, we are confident in ourselves and our abilities, we are disciplined, without it veering into over control, and we can be spontaneous and playful.

In terms of healing this chakra, it is often my sense that it is about bringing movement to the stagnant, stuck energy. Shaking and free form dancing are very good for this; other exercise such as running or swimming is also good, but there is something about the unpredictability and spontaneity of shaking and free-form dancing that I feel is particularly good here.

A physical cleanse can also be good. I remember doing a 5 day herbs cleanse, which involved drinking herbal “shakes” 4 or 5 times a day, and not eating. I felt afterwards physically lighter – as though the cleanse had allowed me to release a “layer” of negativity that I had been carrying round with me. (If you’re interested in this, it’s good to talk with the suppliers of this type of products before using them, particularly if you have an existing health condition.)

Energy healing and the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) can also be helpful here. Sound healing, chakra balancing and colour healing can help to balance the Solar Plexus chakra. More specifically, an inner child healing or a relationship cord healing can help the person heal the event or events which led to the imbalance in this chakra. Often, this will be the time from 18 months to 4 years (including the terrible twos!) – when the child is starting to feel separate from the mother, and yet needs the assurance that she is still there. Often, the child can feel that the parents will impose on him; this can lead to unexpressed anger. An inner child healing can be a safe place to express what it wasn’t possible to express at the time.

Similarly, EFT is very helpful for going back to a childhood event that remains in the energy field, and is influencing our behaviour still, and letting go of it.

Finally, as with the other chakras, chakra balancing mediations are helpful. The balanced colour of the Solar Plexus chakra is a bright yellow. And the balanced sound is “OOOH.”

So, the next post will move into the territory of the heart chakra – the bridge between the lower three chakras we have already looked at, and the higher three chakras (throat, third eye and crown.)
