You Cannot Fight Spiritual Battles With Physical Weapons!

We are living in perilous times. It is crucial that in order for us to be victorious in life, we have to understand the type of battle we are fighting. And in order to win this battle, we need the help of God because, “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12). It is vital that we understand that we in a spiritual warfare. When know what type of war we are fighting, we know what weapons to use. Unfortunately, many Christians fight spiritual warfare with physical weapons.

We Wrestle against the Spirit Realm

We are in a spiritual battle. Paul says, “Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:11-12). You are a soldier in a war and in order to win you are going to need all the armor God has provided for you. The items of your equipment to fight this battle can be found in Ephesians 6:13-18, as follows:1. The Belt of truth 2. The Breastplate of righteousness 3. The Shoe of the preparation of the gospel of peace 4. The Shield of faith 5. The Helmet of salvation 6. The Sword of the Spirit 7. All Prayer

1. The Belt of truth During biblical times, men usually wore loose clothing that hung down below their knees. Before doing anything-strenuous work, they would gather up their loose garments above their knees and fasten it with a belt around their waste. That what we must do as well, gather up and fasten out of the way anything that would stop your freedom to follow Jesus. The “belt” that enables you to follow Jesus is God’s word, and it is applied in a very basic and practical way.

2. The Breastplate of Righteousness Think of the breastplate as protecting your most critical and vulnerable area–your heart. If only most of us can really grasp this, it will save so many people from getting their hearts broken. That is why the bible says, “with the heart”–not wit the head–“one believes to righteousness” (Romans 10:10). We are also warned to “guard your heart” (Proverbs 4:23 emphasis added).

3. The shoe of the preparation of the Gospel of peace Just like you are able to move from one place to another with your cell phone, it’s the same thing with your shoe. It makes you mobile. You must be available to God any time or place to share the Gospel with those God put in your way. This will teach you to make yourself available to God whenever or wherever and however.

4. The Shield of Faith A shield is use to protect your whole body, but it’s only effective when you learn how to use it. You too must learn to use your faith as a shield to protect your whole person–Spirit, soul, and body–from Satan’s fiery darts. Not only will the shield protect you from the flaming darts, it extinguishes them.

5. The Helmet of Salvation The helmet protects another vulnerable area–the head that is the mind. It’s not safe riding a bike/motorcycle without a helmet because if you get in an accident, that helmet can save your life. That’s why it’s so important to protect it because Satan will attack your mind more than any other part of your personality.

6. The Sword of the Spirit–the word of God Knowing the word of God is so important as mentioned earlier. Having the bible on your bookshelf will not protect you. God’s word becomes a sword when you speak it through your mouth in faith. Do what Jesus did in Mathew 4 when Satan tempted him. He answered him back by quoting scriptures: “it is written…” it is very vital that you learn how to do the same thing.

7. The Final Weapon–Prayer You will be surprise how much prayer changes things. Through prayer you can pray for someone who lives in another continent, or state. I have heard of story after story from people who prayed for their family, relative, or friend from different countries as well as states and God answered their prayer. Never under estimate the power of prayer. Nevertheless, it takes discipline and maturity to learn to use such a powerful weapon. In other words, you have to pray everyday, even when you do not feel like praying.

Know your Authority in Christ “Then Peter said Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk” (Acts 3:6). Peter knew that the God He serve is a God that can do anything.Because of the Birth, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, we have been given all the authority to overcome the works of the enemy. However, not too many of us know how to use that authority. When begin got understand that, “Greater is He [Jesus] that is in you than he [Satan] that is in the world” (I John 4:4), your life will never be the same. When you know that, “You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you” (Phil. 4:13), you will keep serving God. When you understand that, “NO weapon formed against us shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17) you will have no reason to be afraid of the devil.”And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” (Matt. 28:18). It gets me exited to know that Our Heavenly Father has all the authority in heaven and earth.

Do not give up, but keep fighting! “And a champion went out from the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, from Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. He had a bronze helmet on his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail, and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of bronze. And he had bronze armor on his legs and a bronze javelin between his shoulders. Now the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam, and his iron spearhead weighed six hundred shekels; and a shield-bearer went before him. Then he stood and cried out to the armies of Israel, and said to them, “Why have you come out to line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and you the servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me. If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will be your servants. But if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall be our servants and serve us. And the Philistine said I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together. When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid” (1 Sam. 17:4-11). Sometimes your situation will seem hopeless. You might even get discourage because things do not seem to be getting any better. This was the situation the Israelites had with the Philistines. They could not see any way how they were going to defeat Goliath (a one-man army). However, God had a different plan in mind–David.

When all hope seems lost, when you have prayed and cried and cried and prayed nothing seems to be happening, do not give up but keep on praying and crying. Many of us loose our spiritual battle because we give up too soon. Your situation may not look hopeful at this moment, but if you will only keep on praying, God will come through for you.Something happens when you pray continuously. It lets God know that you need His help. It lets Him know that you are not a quitter but a fighter. Satan hates it when you pray because by praying you are doing a massive damage to his kingdom. “Then David said to the Philistine You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands” (1 Sam. 17:45-47).

Because of David’s courage, God delivered Goliath into His hands. Never in a million years would any of the Israelites army have though that a young boy would defeat a lion or a giant. However, God knew what He was doing. Regardless of how young you are, when you hold on to Jesus and not give up in spite of what you go through, there is no limit as to how far He will take you.

How Physical Therapy Can Keep You Youthful

Believe it or not, the aging is reversible. We do not say that you can escape all the effects of the passage of time, but you can slow the aging process by keeping your body youthful. Physical therapy helps people stay fit throughout their lives.

Stress Relief

A prolonged situation of stress causes our body’s reserves to gradually deplete, causing us to become more and more vulnerable to certain diseases. We can really define stress as a series of uncontrolled responses of our organism to any requirement, which occurs in both positive and negative situations. In these situations, the body acts by activating a series of emergency mechanisms fundamental to the survival, especially in hostile environments.

Really stress is nothing more than a state of alarm, of constant tension that forces our body to give maximum and that eventually ends up exploding somewhere, usually in the form of some kind of illness or health problem. Physical therapy is one of the best treatments that we can follow in times of stress. Physiotherapists exclusively help their patients to relax, always trying to maintain a balance between mind and body.

When a person suffers a period of psychological stress, physical problems such as muscular contractures, migraines, digestive problems, ulcers, etc. will appear in parallel. On the other hand, because of the important link between the two areas, when one of them is altered, it can also be helped from the other. That is, when a person has a mental disorder, it can be favored by a physical therapy.

Better Sleep

All studies and research have shown that sleeping an average of eight hours a day is highly recommended for staying youthful, but what happens when we spend much more time sleeping? If you do not have an adequate sleep routine, you may be at risk of aging prematurely.

Physical therapy can help prevent sleep disorders, through hydrotherapy, thermotherapy, electrotherapy or lymphatic drainage, thus constituting an “ideal” method of relaxation, especially when applied to the face, head, and neck.

Improved Blood Circulation

Physical therapy promotes proper blood circulation. Most of us do not use many muscles correctly. In addition, improper postures and tight clothing prevent optimal circulation of the blood. Physical therapy improves blood circulation in your body which brings many positive results including a glowing skin and better hair.

When you suffer from poor circulation of blood, the first affects you notice in the legs. Thus, you begin to suffer from swelling and tired legs. Poor circulation occurs when the limbs are not able to properly pump the blood back to the heart, as they must make a great effort by acting against gravity. There are several treatments that your physiotherapist can perform to help you improve your blood circulation.

Combat Depression

Anxiety and depression are something that is becoming more common. However, there are multiple treatments and therapies to treat them. Physical therapy can be very helpful if you want to reduce the symptoms of these disorders. Physical therapy and massage help to curb depression. According to several studies, a professional massage, such as those offered at conveys a sense of comfort, help people to reduce depression and improve their ability to adapt to positive life changes.

With seasonal changes, especially with the arrival of winter, it is common for some people to feel depressed or sad. Occasionally, these emotions can be aggravated by depression, especially in those people who have previously suffered a mental trauma or physical illness. How can we know if a person is depressed? The most characteristic symptoms are usually sadness, the desire to cry frequently, not to sleep or rest well, negative and repetitive thoughts, apathy, lack of enthusiasm and motivation, etc. Physical therapy can help you fight depression.

Cardiovascular Health

Physiotherapy exercises help you to stretch muscles and improve cardiovascular fitness along with relaxation techniques to relieve muscle tension and anxiety. Contrary to this it helps you to fight heart-related diseases.

Better Fitness

To stay young, you need to be in good shape and for that, you need to follow a fitness program. But routine workout and sports practices require a good physical conditioning. Injuries are undesirable and unpleasant affect in our lives. The injury can be accompanied by pain, discomfort and even the inability to continue training. Physiotherapy can be a great help to fight injuries and improving the mobility and fitness.

Hormonal Balance

Hormones work together in a complex system of delicately interconnected relationships like a symphony in an orchestra, if a single instrument is out of tune it does not work, or imposes on others and can endanger the whole presentation. Hormones that are not finely balanced result in our body’s suboptimal health and therefore an impact on our quality of life, as well as showing a wide variety of symptoms and conditions.

After an injury, pain is what you suffer from. If the injury was severe, the pain may also be severe. For pain reduction, your therapist may recommend manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercises to help you get rid of joint and muscle pain. Aside from this, the therapy will also help you prevent the pain from coming back.

Regaining Balance

After an injury, if you became bed-ridden, it may be hard for you to maintain your balance while walking. Physical therapy can help you regain your balance so you can prevent falls. Apart from this, the exercises will enable you to boost your coordination.

Avoiding surgery

After an injury, the doctors will decide if you need surgery. Since surgery involves complex procedures, you may want to avoid it if possible. Physical therapy reduces pain. As a result, you don’t have to opt for surgery. Even if you have to get surgery, the therapy will help you get stronger for the procedure. Afterwards, you will be able to recover faster.

Improving mobility

A stroke will make you lose your range of motion. The reason is that it weakens certain part of your body. On the other hand, if you work with a physical therapist, you will be able to move around your house more easily. You won’t have to rely on others to get out of bed and go to the washroom. You will be able to perform these functions on your own.

Recovery from injury

The professional will customize the treatment to treat your specific problems. As they say, not the same treatment can be given to every patient. So, you will be suggested exercises that will be suitable for you.

Prevention of Falls

Prevention of falls is the biggest benefit of physical therapy. Since the exercises will help you maintain your balance, you will be able to walk properly, which will prevent falls throughout your recovery period.

So, if you have been looking to recover fast after an injury, we suggest that you hire a good physical therapist.

Physical Pain: Can Trapped Emotions Cause Physical Pain?

When one experiences some kind of physical pain or tension it can be normal to just see it as the body reacting to something and that some kind of external solution is needed to deal with the pain.

And this is a natural consequence of seeing the body as separate from the mind and something that often acts in strange and unexpected ways. Ways that will be forever out of one’s intellectual grasp and that the pain just needs to be removed or numbed and then everything will generally be back to normal.

Options

There is all kind of options available now to remove this pain; from tablets, to patches, drinks and certain kinds of exercise for instance, as well as many other things. Sometimes these methods will last for a short time and at others they will last even longer.

Perhaps one could remove their pain completely through doing this; it can all depend on many factors. It could also be possible to remove one kind of pain and as time goes on, another kind will appear somewhere else; this time it could be a lot stronger and no longer be removed through the usual means.

Avoidance

And as it is human nature to avoid pain and to seek pleasure, it is not much of a surprise to see this approach in the western world. In other societies, in the east for instance, a different approach is often taken.

So as soon as the physical pain appears, one will do all they can to put it to an end. One then returns to their normal level of comfort or even feels slightly better. This then enables them, in most cases, to return to their life without the body’s discomfort.

Health Care

When one goes to their doctor or to a pharmacy to seek assistance for their physical pain, they are not necessarily going to be asked what else is going on for them. The pain is typically going to be seen in isolation and not as a part of something more.

So the experience one has had at an emotional level up until this point will not be looked into; it will generally be overlooked. One might be asked what they have been doing physically or what they have eaten recently, but very little else.

The perspective that the body is separate from the mind and therefore acts however it wants is supported by just about every area of the western world. In recent years, genetics has taken over as being the reason why the body does the things that it does.

Powerless

There is then the kinds of thing what someone has eaten or if they have done something that was physically strenuous for example and then there is the genetic component, but other than that, there is very little else. So it would be normal and even expected for one to end up feeling powerless and that they have no control over their body.

One is then nothing more than an observer of their body and what it does or does not do. And when one lives in their head and is cut off from their body, there is not much chance of another point of view. Of course one could read about their body being as much as who they are their mind, but this is merely an intellectual understanding.

Emotional Disconnection

When someone has a friend that causes them too much pain or when there is a certain place that causes painful memories, it is common to no longer see this person or to go to the place. This is done to protect oneself from the pain and as this person and place is not part of oneself; they can be cut out of one’s life.

The same approach can be utilized when it comes to emotional pain. Here, one becomes cut off from their body as a way to avoid pain. But while people or places can be removed from one’s life, the body cannot be. This will always be there, regardless of whether one has removed their awareness from it.

To the mind, this emotional pain could no longer be there, just like the friend who one doesn’t see or the place one no longer goes to. So the mind can live in this delusion and yet the body is still carrying these emotions and feelings.

Trapped Emotions

These could have built up from what has happened during ones adult years and what took place when they were a child and a baby. Over the years they can become pushed into ones vital organs, muscles and bones and while one might no longer be in touch with them, they will appear in other ways.

And one way they can show up is through one experiencing some kind of physical pain or tension. Through one being cut off from their emotions and feelings for so long, when this does start showing up as pain it can be confusing. This is partly due to the time delay and the fact that it can take a while for emotional pain to change into physical pain.

Triggers

So one could experience something or even eat something, and these trapped emotions and feelings will be triggered once more and physical pain will ensue. This is because the body wants to release these emotions and feelings to restore inner balance and harmony.

However, if one is taking tablets or something similar to remove the pain, they are also missing out on what the body is trying to communicate. And this information can be far more profound than the fact the body is in pain.

Areas Of The Body

And different areas of the body can carry different feelings and emotions. The chest can relate to the following feelings: rejection, abandonment, grief, betrayal, emptiness and hopelessness. And in the stomach area it can be to do with: fear, powerlessness, control, shame, guilt and feelings to do with survival.

These are just some areas and there are others that can carry different feelings and emotions. And what is going on within these vital organs can define how ones legs and arms feel; such as feeling cold. Having this emotional build up creates strain on ones organs and this can impact the body’s equilibrium.

Awareness

Trapped emotions and feelings can be released with the assistance of a therapist or a healer who will allow one to face them and gradually release them. And as this happens, ones physical pain can begin to disappear.

Body Language – Ten Stages of Physical Intimacy

One of the things I get asked so often as Sex Appeal and Sexual Confidence Coach is: “How do I know when it’s time to take things to the next level?”

Here are ten silent speech steps leading from first advances to getting physically intimate. Hopefully next time you know what to look out for and how to respond. Remember, with body language, look for clusters of behaviour rather than one isolated move.

1. Eyeing the body. When a formal encounter becomes more friendly, gaze drops from the upper business triangle (right eye – left eye – nose and back to right eye) to the lower parts of the face and upper parts of the body. Be alert for this shift which sometimes involves the other person changing his or her body posture including moving back slightly to take in more of your face.

2. Eyeing the eyes. As intimacy increases and so does the amount of eye contact, resulting in those long soulful looks. A refusal to return eye-contact in this erotically charged moment sends a message that you are not certain or are uninterested.

3. Hand touches hand. Contact is usually light but lingering. It may also be disguised as accidental touching or socially accepted behaviour like placing hand beneath the elbow to guide him or her through a crowded area.

4. Hand touches shoulder. Once again this message can be hidden within a socially accepted behaviour. Up to this point either side can withdraw from the encounter and pretend it didn’t happen. If you are the one who made the advance you do not lose too much pride. But once this silent speech has been crossed there can be no going back without suffering a severe blow to your pride.

5. Arm encircles waist. This signals a desire for far greater intimacy. If this is accepted then things move pretty quickly to the next step…uh-um!

6. Mouth Touches Mouth. Once a kiss is exchanged, kissing chemical information is passed on from one person to the other. Kissing adds another sense to the encounter besides smell – that of taste. Taste is not just about saliva but also about body temperature.

The temperature of a normal, healthy human being is 37° C ( 98.4° F), but skin temperature is always lower than this and varies according to our emotional state. When we are anxious or afraid this temperature drops. If we are relaxed or sexually aroused, the temperature increases. During the more intimate stages of a sexual encounter, the fall in body heat sends a message to our sexual partner who interprets it – usually correctly – as lack of interest, dislike, unease or disapproval. People who are emotionally cold are also likely to be physically cold. When a man or woman is described as “hot stuff” or we speak of a “warm embrace” it may well be almost literally true. As they become more passionate “hot people” really do get hot and their partner reads this – correctly – as revealing their emotional state as well.

7. Hand caresses head. Usually women tend to reach for the head before men. Hand caressing head indicates increasing trust between two people because heads are extremely vulnerable – only those we feel close to can touch without us jumping or protesting.

8. Hand fondles body. This is either through clothes or probing under them. Some people close their eyes to concentrate more on their senses of temperature and smell. But keeping eyes open and maintaining eye contact is even more powerful. Not only are you you using your visual, touch, sound and taste senses you also are using the smell sense.

During physical intimacy, not only is sense of smell powerful in evoking emotions, it is also becomes more sensitive to the unique signature smell of our sexual partner. Odours act powerfully on the nervous system arriving at the part of the brain responsible for memory and for preparing us for pleasurable experiences.

The best advice when anticipating this stage of physical intimacy is to use any perfume sparingly and to allow natural body odour to work for you by not disguising or covering it with man-made products. The better feel each of you has for the other as a person, the more easily and happily it will happen.

Guys: Let her become familiar with it. Women especially those who are not taking the oral contraceptive pill have a far greater sense of smell and are drawn to the fresh male odour any day.

Ladies: Let him smell you. Encourage him to smell you around your period. Its the closest your body comes to estrus or heat.

9. Mouth caresses body. When this stage is reached, sexual intercourse is very likely to take place – under the right circumstances.

10. Hand caresses genitals. At this stage the only remaining stage is genital – to – genital contact.

Just two more things about body odour:

1. Sniffing in your partner is a highly sensual affair, however that bacteria fertile breeding ground with the unpleasant acrid penetrating and pungent stale smell of unwashed body is likely to counter any benefits from pheromones. To produce more of that clean body odour, take a good shower before you start exercising and skip the shower after. After you’ve built up a sweat, let him/her get to know your natural odour.

2. When two people sniff each other out, there is a period of time – on average lasting for around 18 months to three years when the chemical is produced in the brain in large quantities and during this period passion and sexual activity is at its height. What keeps us hooked up is the other person’s individual body scent. But like all good things, the positive effects wear off after a certain period of time. Divorce rates peak at around four years into marriage.

Belly Dancing for Fun and Physical Fitness

Belly dancing students have a lot of fun learning the movements of this beautiful art form of dancing. It is a fun discipline because both students and dancers enjoy this form of freelance dancing. This dance is unlike repetitive exercises which are boring and make you feel that you are laboring grudgingly.

The dancer stretches, tightens and releases, flexes and contracts, and vibrates muscle tissues in order to accomplish the various movements from selected areas of the body. While interpreting the rhythms she is burning body fat. toning muscles, and redistributing the body’s appearance for a personalized physical fitness. There is so much fun having the body freely move and respond to the exotic music that a person wants to keep dancing.

Exercising to music or dancing is appealing because physical, mental, and psychological satisfaction can be gained by marking time with your favorite rhythms. The proof of one’s accomplishment is reflected in the mirror. Wearing a beautiful costume which enhances your figure is an added boost to making a woman feel beautiful.

Muscle strength enables a dancer to complete twenty and thirty minute dance sets. Her legs, arms, body torso, and head are in constant movement which keeps her smiling and happy with not a care in the world while dancing.

Benefits of muscle strength:

1. The walking, skipping, sliding and shuffling movements offer bone strengthening for feet, ankles, and legs.

2. Shoulder, chest, and arm movement strengthen bones of the upper spine.

3. Abdominal movements condition the center area of the spine

4. Pelvic tucks and other similar movements strengthen the muscles of the lower spine.

5. Strengthening the spinal muscles affords flexibility and corrects spinal alignment ensuring good posture.

6. Working the muscles helps to burn fat resulting in a lean and toned body.

Another fun part of belly dancing for physical fitness is wearing parts of the costume. By wearing the bra, belt, hip scarf, a pair of harem pants or a skirt, it will make you feel beautiful as the movements are being performed. However, the major reason for wearing these items as practice garments is to be able to see and correct dance movements.

Practicing these belly dancing movements will require focusing and viewing feedback from a mirror helps to confirm the accuracy of the movements. However, the benefits of losing weight and toning the body without boring repetitive labored exercises are a welcome surprise when dancing your way to physical fitness.

Libido, Love and Physical Pain

Libido is that delightful urge within us to seek physical, emotional and sexual pleasure and orgasmic release. Love nudges us to reach out to our desired partner. Love helps us to feel invincible, as if we can conquer all obstacles and overcome all difficulties. But pain can stop us dead in our tracks.

Pain has sometimes been called the 5th Vital Sign. When we feel pain, especially sharp, shooting, spasmodic and intense pain, most of us can only focus on one thing – relieving or getting rid of the pain. Once in a while, after an intense athletic workout, after an unexpected fall or injury, we may experience temporary pain which causes us to avoid sexual intimacy for a brief period of time. And usually our relationship does not suffer from such a brief hiatus.

But what happens when pain becomes the norm, when our body hurts most or even all of the time? What happens when we have difficulty turning our head, bending our spine or our knees, or supporting our body weight with our arms? What happens when severe body pain blocks our desire for sexual relations?

When our body is screaming in pain, desire for sex is usually not a very high priority. What we crave and need is to find a way to ease the pain. This is where love and nurturing can help us to overcome all obstacles. A loving partner can touch, massage and soothe our aching muscles, joints or overall pain.

Pain takes on a life of its own, demanding attention and respect. if we honor the pain and look for ways to diminish it, our natural libido can resume its rightful place in our life. When your body is in pain, do NOT ignore it and keep trying to please your partner at your own expense. Be open and honest. Talk to your partner. Share your fears and discover together whatever works to alleviate the pain.

Sometimes a warm bath or jacuzzi will help enhance your passion, especially if you share the experience. The warm water and vibrating sensations can help you and your partner experience sensual delight.

Get yourself moving. Sometimes pain begins to decrease as you walk and stretch and get circulation flowing into the aching body parts. Sometimes rest and relaxation and sleep are the best solutions.

If certain physical activities, such as sexual intercourse, are agonizingly painful, then explore with your partner some new ways to find pleasure together. Open communication, a sense of physical and emotional safety, and a relaxing environment (soothing music, dim lights, pleasant scents in the air, soft pillows, warm blankets) along with loving eye contact, kind words and gentle touch can help your brain bypass the pain signals. Sexual arousal enhances the release of feel good hormones and pain relieving endorphins. Sometimes just getting into a sexual encounter can help your pain temporarily diminish.

Pain is part of life. It affects all of us at some point in time, especially as we age. Pain can be unpleasant and certainly has the potential to limit our range of activities. But the pain does not have to interfere with, block or preclude the enjoyment of sensual and sexual pleasure. In a loving relationship, we can find a way back to pleasure, and sometimes that is the actual solution to eliminating the pain.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a condition that physical therapists see quite often.

Though it is normally thought of as a wrist condition, CTS can actually affect your entire arm. Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by pressure on your median nerve. Although repetitive hand motions can result in CTS, they are not the only cause. Other diseases can also lead to its development. Regardless of its cause, surgery is often recommended as a treatment for CTS. Fortunately, surgery is not always necessary. Physical therapy alone can help most patients with CTS manage their symptoms effectively, relieving pain and restoring the normal use of the arm.

Once Carpal Tunnel Syndrome has been diagnosed, if your doctor recommends physical therapy, your therapist will begin with some education and exercise. The education will mostly revolve around how to take care of your wrists going forward, as well as instruction on any exercises your therapist recommends you engage in at home. He or she will also lead you through some exercises right there in the office intended to increase your muscle strength. As always, heat and ice packs are often used during this process in order to make it more comfortable for you. Your therapist may even visit your work site in order to assess it and recommend adjustments to your daily routine.

If surgery is recommended, you will probably still need physical therapy as well. In fact, assistance in post-operative recovery is one of the physical therapist’s most important roles. A lot of the techniques we’ve already described will also be utilized in this type of case. In addition, there will be some scar management, which will help to make sure that your skin remains supple and flexible. When you’re first beginning to recuperate from your surgery, it may feel like you may never be able to use your hand and fingers normally again. Rest assured, you will, and your physical therapist will be right beside you every step of the way.

As I mentioned before, patient education is one of the benefits of physical therapy. When it comes to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, a lot of that education will pertain to ways to prevent this disease from becoming a problem again in the future. Reducing the use of force, taking frequent breaks, and maintaining a neutral wrist position are all important preventative measures. Though physical therapists are wonderful people, you probably don’t want to see them any more than you have to.

If you or a loved one is suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, contact a local physical therapist.

Llama and Alpaca Normal Vital Signs and Physical Examination Parameters

– Heart rate: 60-90 BPM, found by listening (ausculting) with stethoscope at fleece-free area under elbow. Heart rates can be increased due to exercise/exertion/excitement, stress, fever, or pain. Arrhythmias are common in SAC’s-generally no big deal.

-Temperature: Varies from 99.5 to 102F. Neonates are unable to thermoregulate and have a wider temperature range. Ambient temperatures can greatly influence body temps. SAC’s are prone to heat stress and care must be taken to ensure cooling systems (shade, misters, and fans) are utilized.

– Resting respiratory rate: Varies from 10-30 BPM, can be difficult to hear with stethoscope due to fleece. Watch for rise and fall of chest/flank area or place hand in front of nostrils to feel warm breath.

Respiratory rates can be increased due to exercise/exertion/excitement, stress, fever, illness (ex. pneumonia), obstruction, or pain

– Mucus membranes and capillary refill time: Check non-pigmented areas of the gums, should be light pink, moist and when pressed with the fingertip color should return in 1-2 seconds. Vulva may also be examined if pigment covers entire oral cavity.

– Temperament/attitude: Each animal will be different so your observations are vital! Be aware of “normal” behaviors for individuals as well as the herd. Watch for isolation, failure to compete at feeding, excessively quiet animals, sudden aggression…anything unusual

– Body condition: Ideally animals should be weighed throughout the year. Fleece can hide even a severely emaciated condition, so a thorough palpation of the body (esp. bony parts) should be performed as able.

– Gait: Is the animal moving all limbs normally in the walk, pace, trot and gallop? Failure to weight bear on a particular limb likely indicates pain or injury.

-Conformation: When evaluating for health pay close attention to head and neck carriage. A weak, sick or depressed SAC will hold the head lower (extended) or arch it back over the thorax.

– Eyes, ears and mouth: Eyes should be wide open and clear. The globe should be smooth. Squinting and tearing are signs of a problem. Ears should be in a normal position and move according to stimulation. A drooping ear (esp. with a head tilt) or foul odor indicates a potential problem. The mouth should be symmetrical and functional. Observe animals during feeding to ensure normal chewing and swallowing behaviors.

– NOTE: Everyone (!) should own a thermometer dedicated to animal use. Additionally know where it is, and be comfortable using it. An inexpensive stethoscope may also be handy. Always have basic wound care supplies on site (betadine or novalsan scrub, triple antibiotic ointment, vet-wrap, non-stick pads, saline eye irrigation, clean washrags or towels…) if you have multiple animals discuss common medications you may want with your veterinarian.
