High Protein Diet Plan – How to Structure the Best Diet For Building Muscle Mass

Having trouble gaining muscle mass? You’ve probably tried all sorts of garbage hyped by bodybuilding magazines as “the latest breakthrough” for great muscle gains, but have you really sit down and structure a high protein diet plan in order to incite positive changes with your physique? Before I cover my way of structuring the best diet for building muscle, it’s essential that you sink in a couple of important points beforehand:

1. You’re required to eat about 5 to 6 meals spaced out every 3 to 4 hours, day in day out, otherwise you can forget about having a strong and lean body.

2. Realize that the best diet for building muscle mass involves consuming the appropriate ratio of protein, carbohydrates, and essential fatty acids or generally known as the “good” fats.

So to put on more muscle size, I’d recommend a daily caloric intake of 50% protein, 30% carbohydrates, and finally, 20% fat. Don’t subscribe to the common belief that a high protein diet plan may interfere with the proper function of the kidneys. Remember you’re not planning to lounge on the couch, watching TV while nibbling on junk foods all day. You’re goal is to put on weight by increasing muscle size and the only way to accomplish this is to go on a high protein diet plan. Alright I’m going to stop jabbering now and let you in on how I plan the best diet for building muscle.

Meal Structure 1:

The most important meal of the day, breakfast – 1 scoop of whey protein, 2 whole eggs, 1 mug of low fat milk, a bowl of oats, and a capsule of high-potency multivitamin = 44 grams of protein.

Lunch time – A cup of brown rice, 3.5 oz grilled chicken with 2 egg whites plus mix veggies, and vitamin C = 36 grams of protein.

The third meal – 4 whole eggs, a scoop of whey protein, a cup of pasta and a tablespoon of flaxseed oil = 48 grams of protein.

Dinner – Tuna in water sandwich along with an apple or banana plus vitamin C = 30 grams of protein.

Pre-Bedtime meal – 1 scoop of whey mixed with a large glass of low fat milk, a small cup of yogurt and 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil = 32 grams of protein.

Meal Structure 2 (workout day):

Breakfast – 1 scoop of whey protein, 1 lean burger patty with 2 whole grain bread, an apple, 1 multivitamin plus a tablespoon of flaxseed oil = 44 grams of protein.

Lunch – A cup of brown rice, 4 oz of stir fry beef with 2 whole eggs, mix veggies and a vitamin C = 40 grams of protein.

Pre-workout meal – A scoop of whey with milk, a bowl of oats and a banana = 32 grams of protein

Post-workout meal – 1 and a half scoop of whey along with a glass of lemonade for spiking insulin through the roof! = 36 grams of protein

Dinner – 3.5 oz chicken breast strips with 1 baked potato, mix veggies and vitamin C = 30 grams of protein.

Pre-Bedtime meal – Another scoop of whey protein mixed with milk, a quarter cup of cottage cheese, a piece of whole grain toast and of course, a tablespoon of flax seed oil = 39 grams of protein

I weigh approximately 175 pounds so I’d try to consume at least a gram of protein per pound of bodyweight on a daily basis. The first meal and second meal nets a grand total of 190 grams and 221 grams of protein respectively. As far as I’m concerned this is the best diet for building muscle. This kind high protein diet plan has served me well so far, and you may use it as a guideline for structuring your very own mass gaining diet.

Online Weight Loss Programs – Go or Not To Go

Nowadays we do everything on-line: we are shopping on-line, dating, reading books, studding and getting degrees, communicating with family, friends, colleges trough chats, emails, on-line calls, we are doing business conferences and meetings through Skype and even watching TV on-line. It looks like our life is getting more and more virtual. Fitness has organically integrated in this new virtual culture as well. It’s a paradox how a physical activity could be so well channeled through such intangible realm as internet. However online weight loss programs are part of our today reality and they definitely make our life much easier and dynamic. And they work!

I remember my excitement of having videotapes with Cindy Crawford fitness trainings years ago. To have a great work out in front of your own TV in privacy of your own room, when you don’t need to go anywhere! Just make a time for yourself and dedicate it to exercising and not to commute to the sports club. It was so refreshing! As for a busy mom those days these video tapes with a good quality professionally designed fitness programs were an encouraging opportunity for me to stay in shape. And it was precisely what helped me to get back to shape after my pregnancy and birth of my daughter.

Now internet made it even easier and offers a wide variety of online weight loss programs. They usually come along with lots of useful nutritional information, weight loss meal plans, lists of healthy foods and recipes, fitness tips, videos, lifestyle advises – all in one site for our convenience.

In spite some people can say that Internet is a substitute of a real life, I am so grateful for this fantastic new tool of communication and knowledge available on our fingertips anytime and almost anywhere. You can learn anything on-line! It’s a huge benefit of nowadays. So, let’s use it wisely, in fullest and for the best.

I, as wellness professional myself that runs Fitness Centers and Spas for years, probably should be worry about internet intervention into my professional field, but I realize that it is natural and inevitable process. As well I should admit that it was helpful for me too. I personally use and benefit from online weight loss programs. They give me freedom to build my own workouts on my preference. Being very independent and curious by nature I prefer to choose my routines myself and to decide when and how to schedule my workouts depending on my priority list. Of course, it could be a challenge of commitment here, because in case of online weight loss program you and only you are responsible to follow up and stick with the program till you achieve your weight loss or fitness goal. Yes, we still may need motivation, but we can use forums on the online weight loss program site and reach for support as well give out a support for others (which work for me as magic giving me strong boost of determination to press forward in my own program).

My first reason why I am a fan of online weight loss programs is because they are absolutely time saving. They also help to prevent any boredom because of lots of variety available in there. Today excellent trainers and nutrition experts put together their conceptual fitness programs and we can learn first hands from them. For fitness and wellness professionals opportunity to create and lunch online programs is a way to reach for more customers, while for us, customers, is an advantage to have precious advises and practically personal fitness coaching for so much more reasonable cost. We have access to same professional knowledge, same wisdom, but saving our money and time! For me it looks like win-win situation.

So, what to expect from online weight loss programs and how to choose?

Programs could be designed for a specific goal, sex or age group, specific health condition, or they could be more versatile. Begin with Google search, checking out 3-4 different programs. Read couple reviews about them; see what other people have to say. Check references of the author of the program. Also, remember that a good one program will always have a money-back guarantee, so it will be no risk involved in case you figure out later that you don’t like it. Look for the program that has chat or forum available for you could communicate with other folks may you have any questions or need some support and encouragement. Some programs offer a membership which is a very good option, because you will be a part of a virtual community with similar goals and challenges where you can share your experiences. These types of memberships are dynamic and regularly have updates with new information available on site. After considering all the above, choose the program that you feel more affinity with.

Just one more advice: once you choose your program, focus and stay with it for a while until you learn well all materials and went through all recommended techniques and routines. Don’t jump from one program to another without completing them, it could create confusion and discouragement and lower your chances to get the results you are looking for. There is no rash here; new programs will be always available online, waiting for you to be ready for the next step.

Resource Diabetic

Millions of people live with diabetes throughout the world. While there are medicines that help to control blood sugar levels, your diet plays an integral role in how well your diabetes is managed. It can be difficult to make major dietary changes after receiving your diagnosis, especially if you are not a skilled cook. Resource Diabetic is an option to help you to fill in when you cannot eat a nutritious meal. It is a complete liquid diet that you can consume in place of healthy meals when you are too busy to prepare food or something else is preventing you from a meal.

MANAGING YOUR BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS

The foods that you eat are a major component of your blood sugar management program. If you are taking your medicine but still eating a diet high in sugar and carbohydrates, you will have difficulty maintaining healthy glucose levels. When you check your blood sugar levels throughout the day, there are different goal levels depending on what you have been doing before checking it. The following are considered to be ideal blood sugar levels for diabetics:

• When you are fasting, your blood sugar should be under 100 mg/dL

• Prior to a meal, your glucose level should be 70 to 130 mg/dL

• One to two hours after eating, the ideal level is under 180 mg/dL

• At bedtime, your sugar levels should be 100 to 140 mg/dL

• Prior to exercise, your target should be under 100 mg/dL if you are using insulin

• When your doctor runs an A1c test, it should be seven percent or lower

These are general guidelines for diabetics. When you are first diagnosed, your doctor may give you different target numbers. For example, if your blood sugar level was very high when you were diagnosed, your target numbers may be higher than this. However, once you start getting your blood glucose levels under control, they will be more in line with these figures.

THE IDEAL MACRONUTRIENT RATIO FOR DIABETICS

When your doctor prescribes a diabetic diet, the primary focus will be on sugar and carbohydrates. The general population should get about 45 to 60 percent of their calories from carbohydrates. However, some research is suggesting that people with diabetes should aim lower regarding their carbohydrate intake. Your doctor will give you a daily carbohydrate goal that works with your current level of blood glucose maintenance.

When you consume carbohydrates, your body breaks them down into sugar, so they increase blood glucose levels. Simple carbohydrates like sugar and white bread, break down quickly, essentially flooding your body with sugar. Complex carbohydrates, such as whole grains and beans, digest far slower and they contain fiber. You will not get the acute spike and plummet of your blood sugar levels with complex carbohydrates, making them a better choice for managing your sugar levels.

Protein and healthy fats are the other two macronutrients that are important for diabetics. These do not cause significant changes with your blood sugar. However, they are imperative for overall health. The ideal range for protein is 10 to 35 percent of your daily calories. With healthy fats, you should get about 20 to 35 percent of your daily calories from these sources.

WHO SHOULD CONSIDER LIQUID MEAL REPLACEMENTS?

Nestle Resource Diabetic is ideal for several situations. It functions as a meal replacement when you are unable to eat a healthy meal. You can also use it to help you to transition to a diabetes-friendly diet. The manufacturer recommends resource diabetic as a viable meal replacement for breakfast since it allows you to start your day with a lot of critical nutrients without causing any spikes in your blood sugar levels.

Whether your blood sugar levels are managed well, or you are recently diagnosed and working toward an ideal glucose range, this diabetic meal replacement is beneficial. It is also recommended for people who have stress-induced high blood sugar levels and glucose intolerance. If you are prediabetic, your doctor may recommend a diabetic protein powder to help to bring your levels down so that you do not progress to full-blown diabetes.

This diabetic powder can be used orally or via tube feeding. You will add 210 milliliters of water to seven scoops of the powder to create a liquid. Since it is easy to consume, it might also be recommended for diabetics who just had surgery and cannot handle full solid meals during their initial recovery. Since it does contain protein, healthy fats, minerals and vitamins, resource diabetic provides all of the nutritional support needed for this purpose.

WHAT IS THE NUTRIENT BREAKDOWN OF THIS DIABETIC MEAL REPLACEMENT?

This Nestle diabetic meal replacement powder is meant to replace whole meals, so it has a diverse array of nutrients. Each serving gives you approximately 18 percent of your daily protein needs. The protein is 50 percent casein and 50 percent whey protein. You get about 40 percent of your daily fat needs from this supplement. The sources of fat include saturated fatty acids, polyunsaturated fatty acids and monounsaturated fatty acids.

You get approximately 25 grams of carbohydrates with each serving. It also provides 4.5 grams of fiber with each serving. Fiber can help to slow down how fast your body absorbs sugar, helping to keep your blood sugar levels steadier throughout the day. This diabetic nutritional powder has all of the essential nutrients that your body requires each day. It contains three other important nutrients, including taurine, l-carnitine and choline.

L-carnitine can be especially beneficial for people with diabetes. Some research shows that it reduces insulin resistance and may improve sensitivity to insulin, allowing for greater control over your blood glucose levels. One study shows that it may reduce blood sugar when consumed daily. Taurine may have a similar impact on your blood sugar. Research shows that it may reduce fasting glucose levels. Choline might aid in improving your body’s tolerance to both insulin and glucose to help you control your blood sugar levels.

ARE DIABETIC LIQUID MEAL REPLACEMENTS SAFE?

This specific diabetic powder is nutritionally diverse and dense, making it ideal for most people with diabetes. If your doctor recommends that you only use this diabetic liquid meal replacement for a specified amount of time, they will monitor you regularly. It is important that you are getting sufficient calories and consuming this meal replacement as often as your doctor recommends. Since it does not contain a high fiber content, if you are not getting fiber from other sources, your doctor might recommend that you also consume a liquid fiber supplement to get enough of this nutrient.

CONCLUSION

Having options for nutrition is important when you are a diabetic. It ensures that you have meals that will keep you satiated without causing major spikes in your blood sugar. Before using Nestle Resource Diabetic, talk to your doctor. They will help you to determine if it fits well with your diet and your blood glucose management goals. Moisture For Mealworms

Like all insects meal worms need a moisture to thrive and reproduce. There is a ton of info out there on the web on this subject. In our years of breeding insects we have tried all the methods of providing moisture. Adding water directly to the substrate will cause mold and kill your colony. We have worked out several methods to successfully provide moisture to our meal worm colonies.

First you can use a simple paper towel folded in half or quarters, add some water and squeeze out the excess. Place the paper towel on the top of the substrate. This can still cause mold. So you need to leave the top off the meal worm tray. Check the meal worm colony frequently and make sure there is no mold. Now the best way to provide moisture is from sliced vegetables. We have been using potato slices or whole carrots.

The meal worms get their moisture directly from the vegetables and receive nutritional value as well. In a few days all you need to do is dig through the substrate and remove the dried vegetables. In the last few years we have discovered what we believe is the best moisture source there is.

The nopal cactus (opunita streptacantha). We slice the nopal cactus pads into strips and place these on top of the substrate. When the worms are finished the only thing left is the thin skin of the cactus. This species of cactus has few thorns and the few there are can be removed easily with a knife. We have had absolutely no problems with mold and have found that the meal worms consume the cactus before any other moisture source. If you have access to nopal cactus we strongly recommend trying it as a moisture source for your meal worms.

Vegetarian Diet Plan for Weight Loss You Need To Know

Consumption of fewer calories than you burn can lead to instant weight loss on any diet type. Most vegetarians who are keen on weight loss mainly focus on taking in whole foods and fresh vegetables. Nevertheless, in order for a vegetarian to quickly lose weight, moderate calories intake and body exercise is still required. Basically, a vegetarian diet should follow exactly the same healthy eating protocol as a diet that includes meat. It is quite difficult for a vegetarian to come up with a healthy meal plan. The most important thing is to ensure that you get enough nutrition with fewer calories. However, a vegetarian diet doesn’t always promise weight loss.

Vegetarian Diet Types

Elimination of likely high calorie foods such as fatty meats and processed meat is one of the advantages of a vegetarian diet. A vegetarian diet does not contain animal flesh and even in some cases any animal products. Consumption of dairy products, eggs and plants foods is known as a lacto-ovo vegetarian. A lacto vegetarian only consumes dairy products and no eggs. An ovo-vegetarian consumes only eggs, but no dairy products. A vegan is one who only consumes plant foods. All these types of vegetarians can lose weight. However, ovo-lacto vegetarian needs to be particularly attentive to avoid baked delicacies made with eggs and butter and full fat dairy.

The Origins and Importance of Main Courses

For those influenced by European culture, the main course, (known sometimes as the entrée in North America [but not elsewhere]) is typically the most important course of the day’s most important meal.

In a European-style formal meal the main course is the primary or featured dish on the menu of a multi-course formal meal. Typically the main course is the most complex and substantive dish on the menu and typically features meat or game with vegetable and starch accompaniments.

In formal dining the preceding courses act as a way of preparing for and leading up to the main course which is considered to be the gastronomic apex of the meal. The succeeding courses are intended to calm the stomach an the senses after the main event.

In restaurant dining the main course is typically preceded by a light appetizer a soup or a salad and followed by a dessert or a cheese course. However, a structured formal meal can contain many more courses than this. An example might be a fruit course followed by a soup then a salad, a fish course, the main course, a sorbet then the dessert then a cheese course and finally coffee.

Extended dining was probably developed by the Etruscans and from there the practice travelled to Greece. However, it was the Romans who began splitting this extended dining experience into separate courses and it was they who first introduced the main course (the Primae Mensae in Latin) which was preceded by several starter recipes (gustatio) and followed by desserts (secundae).

The Romans introduced this dining method into Gaul (now France) and by the Middle Ages it had become standard practice in French cuisine to divide formal meals into different and successive courses. As French cooking methods pervaded the courts of Europe this formal eating system became the epitome of dining and forms the basis for our formal dining systems even today. If should be noted, however, that the entrée (literally entrance) was the starter or appetizer in formal French dining and this is the sense in which this word is used everywhere but North America even today.

Below is a classic Roman Primae Mensae recipe for:

Pork Chops with Sauce

Ingredients

750g pork chops

100ml white wine

4 tbsp liquamen (fish sauce, use Thai fish sauce)

4 tbsp water or broth

4 tbsp cider vinegar

4 tbsp olive oil

Method:

Heat a frying pan, add a little oil and cook the pork chops until they are nearly done. Set the chops aside and clean the pan.

Add the remainder of the ingredients to the cleaned pan and place the chops in the liquid. Bring this to the boil and continue cooking the chops, turning them occasionally, until they are done. Place the chops on a the plate and cover with the sauce.

Serve with steamed leeks and fried squash.

Build Muscle – Top Post-Workout Foods to Build Quality Muscle Mass and Gain Weight

If you’re heavy into your workout program that’s designed to help you build muscle and gain weight, chances are you’ve looked into the nutritional factors that will come into play with this goal.

Unfortunately though, many people are still struggling to get their post-workout meals right, which can in fact cost them success when trying to build muscle.

The post-workout meal is going to be so critical because essentially it’s at this time that the body is ‘primed’ to be building muscle and is least likely to gain fat. Therefore, you want to optimize this opportunity to build the new mass, without seeing a corresponding fat gain.

Furthermore, your anabolic hormones are also optimized at this point, which will really serve to enhance your weight gain.

This said, here are some top post-workout carb sources you should be considering for right after you finish your workout.

Sugary Cereal

While many people think you need to stay away from sugary cereal, right after a workout it can actually be a fantastic source of fast acting carbs that will replace your muscle glycogen. In addition to this – it’s fun!

Any time you can increase the desire to eat when trying to build muscle, it’s a very good thing.

Perogies

Next up is a common food you eat during holiday dinners, but often gets overlooked for post-workout

meals. Perogies are actually a fantastic source of carbohydrates and don’t contain all that much fat themselves.

This makes them an optimal choice – plus they’re fairly easy to transport to have on the way home from the gym.

Sushi

For all you sushi lovers out there, this is also a good food to eat after your workout. Again, that sticky rice is going to be a fast-acting source of carbs, which is essentially the primary thing you want at this point.

While some varieties of sushi will have some protein, this is definitely not a bad thing as you need a good amount of protein in the post-workout meal as well (in fact, you likely will want to add an additional source of protein to be really sure you meet your needs).

Ice Cream Sandwiches

Finally, the last uncommon post-workout food that people overlook that does work well is ice cream sandwiches. Believe or not, these can definitely help with your muscle building abilities as they are also relatively low in fat but high in glucose – which refills that muscle glucose quickly.

Further, these are nice since they’re cold, which is typically what someone who’s just finished a hard workout will want.

So, next time you’re stuck for ideas for post-workout meals, be sure you keep these in mind.

Eating and Drinking Don’t Mix

While eating your meal, for the most part, do not drink with it.

This dilutes the stomach acids and digestive enzymes. It is best to drink 20 minutes before your meal – this helps uptake of nutrients and move bowels.

If you feel your mouth is just so darn dry while eating, that is likely due to being:

* stressed while you eat,

* eating in a rush,

* not being aware that you are eating

* secretory glands not functioning well due to drinking during meals [conditioned not to secrete]

If any of those explain you while eating, try to adjust. Your secretory glands will regain proper function once you train yourself not to drink during meals.

If you absolutely cannot avoid drinking during meals then:

* avoid cold drinks

* drink warm to hot teas

* avoid milk during meals

Drinking cold mucousy milk during a meal is like spraying foam on a fire. It totally kills it. The Chinese call your digestive system the triple burner. It burns from below and that fire works its way up properly digesting your foods. Cold milk and beverages douse that fire.

We had a patient come in to the clinic with chronic constipation for years. She was improving but not rapidly. She happened to stop by my website and read information about avoiding drinks and especially cold drinks during meals. Once she changed this, she now goes 2 times a day!

Simple.

Give it a shot.

P.S.

If you’re doctor told you to drink during meals – then by all means, listen to ’em. Also drink plenty of water while you take your fiber supplement. If you don’t you’ll have a big bunch of fiber sitting like concrete.

Why Has Dining Out Become Part Of Our Lifestyle And Culture?

There was a time when dining at a restaurant was considered a special treat that people did once in a while. However, today more people are dining out than ever before. In fact, dining out has become a part of our lifestyle and culture. Just why has dining out in such establishments as restaurants and pubs become so popular?

The trend of dining out more has a lot to do with our changing lifestyles. Today, more people are pressed for time and cooking a full course mean just takes too long, particularly for families. People are eating out because they are too tired and would rather have a quick meal. As well, they do not want to have to clean up after cooking and serving a meal. They also don’t have to figure what meal to make and shop for the food and ingredients. Fortunately, many restaurants have followed the trend of families dining out and are starting to offer healthier meals. It gives people the chance to sit down, relax, and talk with each other while waiting for their meals.

Another reason why more people are dining out in restaurants is there are such a wide variety of menu choices ensuring everyone will find something they like. This is very beneficial if there are children as there is no need to worry about them getting upset because there is nothing they like on the menu. And, there will be meals that are not typically cooked at home which is a real treat. It can make you feel good as you just relax and enjoy being waited on throughout the whole meal.

You can choose restaurants that make your favorite traditional foods and you do not have to spend hours preparing it. Or you can go to restaurants that serve ethnic food which is a big treat as you can try new dishes. When you dine out, you can dress up and go to a fine dining restaurant, or go to a much more casual establishment. There are no dishes to clean up after your meal and no hot kitchens. If you have had a stressful day, there is nothing more relaxing than going out to a pub and just kicking back and letting your self unwind. Whether it’s cozy, family, romantic, or casual, there is a restaurant to suit every mood and taste. Restaurants are a place to relax and forget about the daily grind of life. They are a place where you can chill and express your opinions and thoughts.

When you dine out, someone else cooks for you, serves you, clears the dishes, and washes them too. You get to experience delicious meals you can’t get at home. It is a great way to spend time with the family. It is no wonder why dining has become part of out culture and lifestyle. So why not, get some friends, or your family, or your coworkers together, and go out to a great restaurant and enjoy some great food and fun.

Best Leopard Gecko Foods – The Four I Feed My Leo

Now that you have decided to buy a Leopard gecko as a pet, what are the best leopard gecko foods available to feed them?  Since your new pet is an insectivore, the obvious choice is going to be insects.  Which insects offer the most nutritional value for your Leo but also do not cost you an arm and a leg to buy?  Four different insects come to mind when thinking about different Leopard gecko foods.  They are crickets, meal worms, locusts, and wax worms.  Sounds yummy doesn’t it?

The Cricket

Crickets are the best choice in feeding your Leo because they are readily available and provide a very nutritious meal.  There are many different kinds of crickets to choose from.  A few different types of crickets you could feed your pet are: Brown crickets, Black crickets, or Banded crickets. Each of these types of crickets are high in protein and fat that provides excellent nutritional value. I would only recommend using crickets bought from a store because wild crickets might be covered with insecticides or fertilizers which will cause your reptile to become ill.

Meal Worms

This is my second choice for leopard gecko foods that are high in nutritional value.  Meal worms are readily available and provide a nice fatty snack for your pet. Meal worms were the number one food for these reptile until crickets become more popular.  Still today, many breeders will only feed their offspring meal worms because of they are easy for young ones to eat and provide excellent nutrition.

Locusts

Locusts are a sweet treat for your Leo.  Locusts being on the more expensive side of leopard gecko foods, along with crickets and meal worms, they are more of a delicacy.  Locusts are high in protein which is great if you want to fatten up your pet, but when given as the sole food in their diet, you pet becomes kind of “addicted” to thee treats.  If you decide to feed your reptile locusts, make sure to only feed it once every ten days so that it will still eat its healthy foods.

Wax Worms

Can you say fatty. Feeding your pet wax worms is like feeding your child a Twinkie. These worms are so filled with fat that once eaten, your pet will quickly become addicted to the taste and want nothing else if given to many. Save these as a special treat to show your Leo how much you love them!
