Profile of Women Leaders

Leadership is based on two words, "pressure and support" and that the leadership is the power to influence people to move in a direction that you believe in your heart is a good direction for most people "(Fennell, 1999, p. 267) Adams and Yoder noted that "evidence from contemporary studies on sex-roles and leadership indicates that men and women, with similar education, career aspirations and training, have basically identical scores on measures of psychological masculinity and femininity." In other words, the traits we assume are important in good leadership can be found among people of both genders.

What makes a leader is a complex question. It includes factors from the environment in which an individual was raised, his or her family situation, and his or her personality traits. . The following discussion is a summary of my own observations plus some of the conclusions of others

According to an overview of research conducted by me, women are a fast-growing segment of the business community worldwide. The leadership characteristics required to make a success in this new reality are very much "feminine characteristics". These characteristics include:

1) Self-confidence, an independent mind-set and a willingness to take risks

2) Ability to balance work and family (most are married)

3) Self-confidence, an independent mind-set and a willingness to take risks

4) About 40 to 60 years old

5) Well educated with high skills in management and entrepreneurship

6) Integration of personal and profession

7) Intuition

8) Social skills

9) Direction

10) Hires competent, trustworthy people (not putting priority on loyalty)

11) See communication and conflict resolution as key to organizational success

12) Men and women tend to lead in different ways.Namely, women leadership strategy is based on family pattern. It means that
women tend to view solving problems differently than men. Women tend to be more holistic in their thinking.

13) Leaders must be conscious of what is perceived by others and develop strategies that are proactive in building success. Marcano (1997) described this as "know thyself" and further stated that it is important to be honest and objective when evaluating your strengths and abilities, as well as your goals

14) Continual professional growth

15) Leaders need to have a clear sense of their own vision and beliefs

Researching – Case study of Serbia
I presented the latest results of researching related to women leaders and their position in the business world, ie how does people look at (divided into sex, ages and level of education) women leaders and if they trust them. My scientific task was to make some conclusions and to point out some special characteristics of Serbia and Balkan region. We can see different opinions related to our questions:
Do you trust to women-leaders? Could they be equally successful in business world like men?

o Methodology

o Interviews conducted from 1.476 people, 726 women and 750 men

o Interviewed people were between 18 and 60 years old

o In the whole structure of respondents 30% were owners

o 73% were married, 19% single and 8% divorced.

o A few key findings are listed below:

o The barriers to women's advancement in business are remarkably similar across Balkan region and the biggest cities in the Serbia- Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis.

o The women respondents trust to women leaders (63%) and most of them prefer to work in some firm where is a woman leader or executive manager. Also they think that the women want to reach the top, and are equally ambitious like men.

o Most respondents (60%) say that Corporate Culture is the most significant barrier to women achieving top executive positions, while only twenty-nine percent (29%) think work / family balance is a significant barrier to advancement and 36% believe that a lack of self-promotion holds women back from achieving top-level positions

o The majority of men in research had negative attitude against women executives. In other words they expressed stereotypes and preconceptions about women's roles and abilities in business. Men stress that women have lack of general management experience, lack of skills and knowledge and lack of role models.

Respondents among men almost gave the similar replies related to our questions as a following:

1.We are here Balkan and we are argue for traditional model of society

2. Women have been fighting for equal rights for nearly all of time and now that they have it expect special treatment because they are females

3.I do not trust women in business and I do not accept them seriously

4.I am afraid of those women

5. I hate feminist community and culture

6. Women must stay at home and be leaders in their families but not in business word. Leader position in business is reserved for men

7. Women leaders are actually men dressed like women

It is very interesting that a great amount of men do not make difference between women leaders and women feminists, who are not very popular in this region. And about 20% of women respondents in the research share mentioned opinion with the men.

About 10% of men respondents are afraid of women domination in the business world, because it could change natural balance between women and men and to decrease traditional role of the men in society and family. Therefore, they would not like domination of the business women in the 21 st century.

It is also very indicative that among young women (18-35) exist the great interest for leadership and entrepreneurship and they more than earlier explore opportunities to reach their professional goals. Namely, they expressed their opinion with the following words:

1. Female owners and leaders have more of a struggle because they are females and no one will take them seriously so they have to push and make themselves known to the world and allow the world to see their capabilities while male owners don't have to worry about the struggle of fitting in and trying to live and work up to societies standards because since they are men they are already have the macho man persona and the alter-ego that men have.

2. Women have to fight harder and be stronger if they want to live and work in a man's world you have to adopt to the surrounding don't expect a man to be a gentlemen and hold the door open for you, don't expect him to do anything out of the ordinary that a man would do for a female because in a sense you should be getting treated like his fellow counterparts and not expect differently. In order to fit in with the men you have to in a sense think, work and act like them meaning don't think that they will treat you like the female you are. You have to be strong not every man that you encounter will treat you like this but in order to show off your strengths you should expect this.

3. It's extremely obvious that women have come a long way as successful professionals. Life in the workplace has become much more diversified as an increased number of women have made their presence felt in many industries and professions. The female task force has expanded with exponential strength, and thus has its dire importance in the professional world. Whether they like it or not, men have to accept, once and for all, that women are marching up the corporate ladder confidently and with full speed ahead.

4. Women used to be much more "quiet and passive" in the workplace due to the relatively small number of female employees in comparison to males. Women today, on the other hand, have begun assuming their positions by using all their God given powers of intelligence and organization. Warren Farrell, author of Why Men Are the Way They Are, explains that men are jealous of the "beauty power" that allows women to get certain things based on their physical assets. Perhaps it's less that women use their beauty, and more likely that men judge them based on their physical beauty

5. The reasons that people start and lead business among women is to bring in and focus on a clientele of mainly women. Most times women start business that deal with products that women use, such as clothes, makeup and home products. The most successful companies run by women are ones that use women's special skills. These special skills are style, fiscal sense and public relations. Their strengths as business owners are their public relations and the clientele they bring in. There weakness as business owners is the overcoming of sexism that exists. There biggest fear is finding clientele that will due business with a women .. I think these men feel this way because they are insecure.

6. I simply think that women just became even more smarter. Speaking from a personal point of view, I know that being happy and successful are very important to me. They go hand in hand. Most of the women I know feel the same way. I believe that as the years progress women will be involved in an even bigger part of the economy, because young girls are going to follow their female role models.

7. Personally I feel that some high qualified positions are better suited to a women because men have humungous ego problems

8. I personally think that women can do whatever men do sometimes better. there have always been a glass ceiling for women in the work force however, many women are getting closer to this ceiling and some of them has at least attempted to break through this ceiling. the reason many people think that women are not capable of being in the work force is because of the connotation that has been here for like for ever, "women should stay home and take care of the home".

9. We need to stop complaining about how much work we have or how hard it is and just complete. The more we complain about the work, the more the man is going to say that things should go to how they used to be in the old days, which was The man works and when he comes home he gets treated as if he is something golden and special while tlelign us we are worthless. The woman can not go to work because she needs to stay home with the children and cook and clean the house. I am glad i live in this century because honestly i do not know how I would've been able to live up to those expectations

At last we can conclude that the woman is now much more motivated and ready to reach their professional dreams and be leaders, not only in Serbia and Balkan region, but all over the world then they once were. Until recently, entrepreneurship was considered by many to be the last bastion of male dominance in the business world. This is no longer true. More businesses are now being started by women than are being started by men. However, there are still a lot of men who don't think women should be in these positions and hold no respect for them at all. As time goes on, women are going to be a bigger and bigger part of the business world, and these men are just going to have to accept it and face a reality check, because no matter what they feel and how much they are against it , the world is changing and it's going to happen regardless of how they feel.

How I Reversed the Aging Process, Restored My Health, and Lost 40 Pounds

Ninety days before my sixtieth birthday, I began to experience some health issues that really concerned me. I didn’t feel good, my head pounded for weeks on end, I had zero energy, I was fat and my blood pressure had skyrocketed to 183 over 100. Those rock-hard pectoral muscles I once possessed now were flabby and bounced up and down as I walked. I was starting to look like I needed a bra. That’s not a good thing for a man who was once proud of his athletic ability and masculinity. I was beginning to experience some angina and was worried that I might have a heart attack or even a stroke. I felt my body was starting to decompose and when I awakened each morning, I was so tired I had to drag myself out of bed. I had chronic fatigue and needed to take a nap everyday.

How had I gotten this way? As a young man, I had competed in basketball, track, football, Olympic-style bicycle racing and boxing. At one time in my life, I was in good enough condition to jog twelve miles and, as a weightlifter, I had bench pressed more than 400 pounds. I was a professional boxing trainer for twenty years and spent several hours a day in the boxing gym working with professional athletes. I had the background and knowledge to be healthy and in great shape. But I wasn’t.

That’s when I decided to do something about my condition. I read my Bible and began to study the Old Testament dietary guidelines. I changed my diet and began to eat the healthy foods mentioned in the Word. I combined my diet with conditioning techniques I had used to train champion boxers. I accidentally developed a revolutionary new diet and conditioning system that produced amazing results.

All of the health problems that I suffered from disappeared in just a few weeks after I implemented these diet and exercise principles. My body literally began to reverse the aging process. I lost 40 pounds, reduced my blood sugar, increased my cardiovascular fitness level, and my blood pressure dropped from 183 over 100 to that of an 18 year old, (116 over 66). My body became lean and muscular again. I was a couch potato before, but now I am healthy again and can run for an hour or go 10 rounds in a boxing ring. If this program can do that for a 60 year old man, imagine what it can do for you.

Benefits of Past Life Regression

Past Life Regression is valuable and the only source for clearing / healing traumatic experiences in prior lifetimes, which otherwise holds us back from full actualization in this life, and / or is causing distress. Additional benefits are activating creativity or a valuable talent that was actively expressed before but has remained latent or unrecognized in this life.

Past Life Regression can be the sole focus of a hypnosis session or it can be initiated within the context of an alchemical hypnotherapy session. A session may include other experiences in addition to visiting a past-life, such as a regression to the past of this life, etheric plane communication, inner guide work, and / or life between lives work. The methods frequently overlap – both EPC and Reframing can occur in either this life or a past life. Inner Guides can be contacted during any of the other techniques. Alchemical hypnotherapy's name stems from alchemy – usually thought of as the science or art of transforming base metals into gold– but the ancient alchemists were primarily concerned with transforming the human spirit (with the façade of "chemistry" serving to protect them from persecution ), and contacting past lives was basic to their process. A key part of the process is loving, accepting, or making peace with things as they are (or as they were in the past life), thus freeing the energy of transformation.

The benefits of Past Life Regression include the following:

Clearing / healing trauma: This is the most common aspect of healing in past life regression. When trauma is encountered, options include running and changing, rescuing the past-life self (PLS) and bringing him / her forward to the present, or viewing the trauma and the life as a whole from the perspective of the Higher Self.

Healing overt acts (the past-life self as the perpetrator rather than the victim): Healing involves the PLS experiencing remorse (assisted by one of several methods as needed), either receiving the forgiveness of the victim (s) or performing an appropriate atonement , and obtaining forgiveness of the present-life self for the overt act (s).

Contacting creativity: Most of us have had a variety of talents and desirable attributes at different points in our many past lives. We can journey to one or more lifetimes (with or without first naming a talent or attribute we would like to contact) and bring forward either the attribute itself or the PLS (who becomes in effect an Inner Guide).

Rewriting past-life contracts: Part of our karma involving another person may stem from a promise or agreement made in a past life with that person, such as "I'll never leave you." After contacting the lifetime where the contract originated, the past life practitioner, together with an Inner Guide of the client (usually the Higher Self) ascertains whether there exists any outstanding debt or obligation, if so performing an appropriate atonement, and then revising the contract in a way most supportive of the client's present needs.

Grounding / Affirming: While this benefit of Past Life Regression seems inconsequential – it is the most profound and significant reason for engaging in the process. Many clients after having completed several Past Life Regressions state they feel more grounded in who they are; now they understand why they have certain characteristics, passions, desires, values, talents, concerns, etc. and can use the information to live a happier and more balanced life in the now.

People frequently ask – "What if I only think the information is a past life, what if I am only making it up?" There are checks and balances to know if the information is truly a past life. However, if it is truly made up – it is still valid, if the person benefits from the 'made up story.' In reality all of our life is made up as we go along. Didn't you make up the story that you wanted to go to college – become a doctor, lawyer, etc, get married, have children and grow old with your partner – and then you are doing / did just that. So what if you made up a past life that benefited you in this life – who has been harmed? No one has been harmed. I rest my case.

Suggestions for Developing an Anti-Bullying Culture in the Workplace

This paper provides three significant but interrelated factors toward the development of an anti-bullying culture in a formal or bureaucratic organization. It suggests that legislative reform, via education, mediation and restoration or restorative justice, once instituted can go a long way toward reducing the occurrence of workplace bullying. However, legislative reform is central. Education, mediation and restoration are the pillars upon which reform should be based. Arguably, legislative reform requires promoting a national anti-bullying agenda that results in an anti-bullying culture in all workplaces. In addition, to examining legislative reform, education, mediation and restoration, it will define workplace bullying and identify three effects of workplace bullying, namely individual, social and economic or financial.

This paper agrees with international scholars that bullying involves an abuse of power in work relations between superior and subordinate staff. However, it recognizes that bullying can take place when coworkers or peers collaborate to intimidate, threaten or harass another whom they perceive to be different or deviant in some significant way from their group. For example, some working class men have been known to bully colleagues whom they perceive to be physically weak and unsuited to physically demanding tasks that they are expected to perform. Also, it may have to do with their perception that deviants violate masculinity norms of toughness and the possession of physical strength.

Workplace bullying can take many forms. They include verbal and physical threats, sexual harassment, ostracism or isolation, petty tyranny, public humiliation, wrongful blaming and shaming or unsubstantiated accusations of incompetent. Overworking employees by assigning tasks unrelated to their job description is another example. Bullies or higher ranking employees may be motivated by their favorable relations with persons higher up in the organization such as the chief executive officer, chairman of the board of directors or even their immediate supervisor. Bullying will take place when bullies feel insulated from adverse action if found guilty by a jury of their peers.

It is proffered that the effects of workplace bullying can be extremely severe with catastrophic consequences for the individual, family and organization or workplace. Individuals suffer whether they are victims or perpetrators. It must be stated though that victims suffer more than bullies in significant ways. They include mentally, emotionally, psychologically or physically, based on the severity of bullying. Families of victims also suffer when the bullied withdraw socially or hit out and make them scapegoats. Workplace bullying can lead to strained social relations as coworkers often take sides. Frequently, the majority take the side of the supervisor for fear of victimization. Financial effects may impact the organization negatively. It is well-known that employees who are bullied persistently take more time off from work, either sick or business leave. This puts additional pressure on their colleagues who have to fill in for them. It also means fewer man hours and lower productivity. The net effect is lower productive efficiency and capacity. The negative effects of workplace bullying make it imperative that a strong resilient anti-bullying culture should be developed in each workplace.

The state or government should take a leading role in the development of an anti-bullying culture. Cogent and effective legislation should be reformed only after the collection of empirical evidence gathered by scientific research on workplace bullying is undertaken. Decisively, there must be collaboration between organizations and the state to ensure that valid and reliable data are collected in quick time. The Ministry of Labor or its equivalent should be tasked with responsibility for collecting quantitative and qualitative data on workplace bullying. Data should include frequency, victim and offender social characteristics, management or reduction strategies and anti-bullying education for employees. The Ministry of Labor should ensure that national anti- bullying programs, policies and procedures are reformed and re-implemented in congruence with the reformed legislation. Within organizations a bottom up approach should be adopted via meaningful consultation involving all stakeholders such as management, workers and trade union representatives. They should be mandated to formulate mechanisms for implementing state policies, programs and procedures within their industry or organization and workgroups.

Education is the main catalyst for cultural change. All employees, including the newly recruited, should undergo training in bullying recognition, reporting and management, that is, established grievance procedures. The main objective of anti-bullying education is to ensure that allegations of bullying are taken seriously and that no employee who alleges victimization is subject to additional victimization as a result of his complaint. In addition, all employees should attend at least one anti-bullying seminar annually where they will become sensitized to the deleterious effects of bullying and the best ways of managing, containing, reducing or eliminating it in the workplace. Furthermore all workplaces should display clearly, literature and pictures that effectively promote anti-bullying.

Mediation should be an accepted alternative dispute resolution technique in the development of an anti-bullying culture that emphasizes fair treatment and freedom to report bullying. Mediation should be the first step. If it fails, litigation should be the next course of action. Mediators that are highly trained, skilled and independent should be recruited to assist in disputes resolution where attempts at resolution within organizations have been unsuccessful. Sessions should be well structured so that victim and perpetrator can communicate each other respectfully in an environment of trust and mutual goodwill.

Finally, based on severity of bullying, disputants should agree on an appropriate form of restorative justice. A number of options should be available. Apologizing is the primary choice. A meaningful apology can act toward mending broken relationships spoilt by workplace bullying. However, depending on the extent of victimization disputants may have the power to decide whether financial compensation or counseling is most appropriate. Financial compensation can result from settlement between disputants if it was established that the bullied suffered financially as a result of victimization. Alternatively, the victim should have the right to seek redress in an industrial court where work disputes are arbitrated. Counseling will assist perpetrator and victim. They may need self-esteem building and therapy. Cognitive, solution focused or person centered therapy may be adapted as appropriate to assist in bringing about emotional or psychological health. In cases involving family and workgroup trauma, appropriate group based therapy should be undertaken at no cost to the victim.

This paper sought to examine the development of an anti-bullying culture in the workplace. Even though anti-bullying legislation exists there is need for reform and effective enforcement consistently. All workers must be sensitized to the individual, social and economic hazards of bullying. Workplaces must become safer places for all regardless of gender, rank, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other socioeconomic characteristic that leads to perception that a worker is vulnerable or disadvantaged.

How to Grow Your Biceps and Triceps – Getting Bigger Arms

All guys who are into fitness and who have ever been into action movies want big arms or have wanted to have big arms at some point in their lives. In fact most guys work out their arms first when they first join the gym, it just one of those testosterone driven things that have not been seeded out by evolution if you believe in that sort of thing. Big arms are a sign of masculinity and guys like to show how alpha they are by the size of their guns.

The mistakes we make when it comes building big arms

One of the first workouts we guys do when we first join the gym is the bicep curl; it does not really matter whether it’s the barbell or the dumbbell curl. We have the misconception that doing bicep curls is all that is needed to build monster arms. Yes at the beginning your biceps will respond and grow because of beginner gains (anything you do at this point stimulates growth since you were not used to it), but soon beginner gains stop and you have to find other ways to bring about growth and you will notice that your arms are not as big and thick (width wise) as you would have liked them to be.

The other thing we don’t do is we do not work out other body parts, which is a really bad move because if you want to look the part and proportional you have to work out other body parts. Imagine Arnold without his big chest and shoulders to back up his huge arms, he would not have looked the part and he definitely would not have won the Olympia or gotten the role of Conan the barbarian.

The third thing we do is that we over train and do not give our muscles enough time to recover and grow, doing the same workouts and working out the same body parts day after day. In the beginning this is usually your biceps so you do not get the maximum growth you expect from the amount of work you put in.

And finally we do not eat good food (healthy) or drink enough water instead we drink too much coffee, juice (not fresh juice), fizzy drinks and alcohol. Sipping on cola and other such drinks the whole day is not going to do you any good, and drinking beer (too much as in binge drinking for college and high school guys) is counter-productive. Drinking water will do you much good. Eating junk food will not help you build lean muscle mass, in fact because you will be eating more because you workout, eating junk will also add to the amount of fat you gain.

How to get big arms:

Getting big arms is about more than training your biceps it is about training your whole arm which includes your triceps as well, if you work out your triceps your arms will be bigger because your triceps are bigger than your biceps ( haven’t you ever wonder why triceps have ‘tri’ and biceps ‘Bi’ as a prefix).

Furthermore you should train your large body parts as well as this will help make your arms bigger because training you large body parts like your back and legs helps to release hormones that make you grow more and help you become stronger. This can be done by doing exercises such as squats and dead-lifts which workout your whole body.

A guy with big arms and no chest and shoulders never look good so it will be at your best interest to focus on those body parts as well, not only will it make you look better, stronger but it will help your other body parts recover because you will train each body part on a separate day. This helps avoid over-training, your body will get enough rest and it will recover and grow.

Drinking lots of water will allow for your blood volume to increase and improve the transportation of nutrients to your entire body. Proper nutrition will make sure you minimise fat gain and you maximise muscle gain because your diet will help to repair and build new muscle cells.

So you see getting big arms is not only about curling weights, there are other factors that influence whether you grow and how much you grow in terms of fat and muscle gain. If you follow these guidelines to growing your arms you will notice the difference in your body and strength levels in the following weeks.

How to Increase the Size of Your Testicles

Although most men are content with the size of their testicles, some men wonder if it is possible to increase the general size of their testicles. Many men see bigger testicles as a sign of masculinity, and power. Men particularly are interested in not only larger testicles but a larger penis as well because they feel it completes the total package.

So, can you actually increase the size of them? It actually can be done through a surgery that is in its very early stages of being done. That doesn’t mean you can run right to the hospital to get it done now. It is still being studied and only performed on certain people. How the surgery works is that the surgeon inserts a small amount of fat to your scrotum to make it appear larger. The scrotum is actually an elastic sac that can stretch whether you have smaller or bigger testicles. The scrotum also moves in an up and down motion which helps with ejaculation.

When a man starts to age they often have the “shrinking” of the testicles which means that they do indeed begin to look smaller. Of course with the shrinking, it can cause a man to be embarrassed and often self conscious about still having sex with their partner. With this surgery though, the layers of fat cells are inserted to make it look significantly larger, giving the man back his confidence as well as the look of larger testicles.

Not enough long term information is available right now though, so they are limiting this procedure to men who are not interested in becoming parents, because there is no conclusive proof that this surgery does not stop or lower a man’s sperm count. Also, they are unaware of whether or not adding another layer of fat to the scrotum will hinder being able to find testicular cancer in some men. As the studies continue they are learning more and more about this surgery which gives hope to the men who would consider this a great option for them.

There Are Four Types of Mama’s Boys and Four Types of Daddy’s Girls

Mama’s Boys have been getting a lot of attention these days. The issue with them is showing up on blogs, the entertainment news shows, and even a new reality show called “Momma’s Boys” (produced by Ryan Seacrest). A producer approached us to see if we had a client and his mother who would appear on a national morning show! We couldn’t oblige because the kind of mama’s boy they were looking for and the type these others are putting their attention on is a kind of mama’s boy we have never met. And we are the mama’s boy-daddy’s girl experts!

The type of mama’s boy getting the most attention these days is the one we call “The Apron Strings Boy.” This type can blind people to the reality that mama’s boys come in a variety of personalities. There are at least three other types of mama’s boys. They might surprise you but you will recognize them. There are also at least four types of daddy’s girls. You will recognize them too. You know, you rarely find a mama’s boy without a daddy’s girl! Understanding the following types can help you get a handle on how to improve the romance you share with your adult mama’s boy or daddy’s girl.

When a mama’s boy travels incognito, chances are he is The Bully. His machismo and dominant personality can make you think twice before calling him a mama’s boy. However, if he uses verbal or physical aggression to push against the women in his life, he is a mama’s boy! Mama’s boys, through no fault of their own, lost the opportunity to bond with their fathers, learning that their power comes from within. As a result, they spend their lives either pulling on or pushing against the women in their lives in order to confirm their masculinity. A woman cannot give a man his masculinity no matter how hard either of them tries.

The Apron Strings Boy that we have mentioned is the man who, whether single or married, will not make a decision to act without his mother’s input or approval. He is comfortable with his mother’s influence in his life. Whereas his wife or girlfriend finds his mother to be interfering, he will defend her activity in his life. If you place him in the position of having to choose between you, his mother will win.

Some mama’s boys have so much feminine energy that we call such a one The Nurturing Man. This man is comfortable being “Mr. Mom.” He loves nurturing the women and children in his life and is the number one reason we say being a mama’s boy or loving one can be a very good thing! The challenge here is that he still needs to be respected as a man and his wife needs opportunities to let down, relax, and be the receptive one. Role reversal works best when both individuals fully agree to it and have the option of spending time in the traditional roles.

The fourth type of mama’s boy is the soft male. This man is challenged when it comes to taping into his masculine potency and taking action. Because he needs his woman’s permission to act, he most exemplifies the mama’s boy who pulls on his woman to get a sense of his masculinity. Rather than being either the masculine or feminine energy in the relationship, he is most like an insecure teenager who cannot quite make the leap to adulthood.

A woman can be a daddy’s girl because she either tried to take his place with her mother or her mother’s place with him. This explains why a woman estranged from her father can still be a daddy’s girl. Here, we begin with The Tom Boy. She is the one who loved sports, camping, cars, or other masculine interests in childhood. She identified with her dad then and still does. As she works to please him and take care of him through her life choices, she tends to be successful out in the world. However, her fixation on him undermines her success in romance.

Another type of daddy’s girl is The Little Princess. This woman can come across as feminine and very much in love with herself. It isn’t true self-love, however, because she does not know how to get fulfillment from within. Seeking it outside herself, she believes she will be happy when her man figures out how to please her. Her self-centeredness and belief that the world revolves around her reveals that she is daddy’s little princess.

Any type of daddy’s girl can express her desire to take care of the men in her life through bullying, submissive, or martyred ways. However, The Longsuffering Wife is the daddy’s girl type that stands the greatest risk of being taken for granted and suffering deep resentment in the process. She puts everyone ahead of herself, attempting to be the great earth mother. She asks entirely too much of herself, trying to be the kind of mother and wife that would make either or both of her parents proud.

The fourth daddy’s girl is The Father Knows Best Girl. She is the one who cannot make a decision without her father’s input or opinion. She believes no one will love her the way he did. If he is no longer a part of her life, she pines for his influence. If he was affectionate, she pines for that as well. If he was dismissive, she longs to prove to him that she is his girl after all. Like The Soft Male, this woman is stuck in a kind of adolescence, unable to make the leap into full adulthood.

If you recognize yourself or someone you love from these descriptions, you can use the information here to understand yourself or that loved one better. This can give you a measure of patience with behavior that may have made you feel like pulling your hair out before now! You can see where you need to lean in the direction of wholeness as well. Without making him, her, or yourself wrong, how can you encourage the independent adult within to show up once in awhile and then celebrate that?

Mama’s boys and daddy’s girls are everywhere! Learning how to get along with respect and cherishing, and learning how to grow ourselves up a little more, is the secret to greater happiness.

I Bleed PINK

“Where the walls are not the boundaries, but the protective power;

Where the ribbon is the strangling weapon of Beauty;

Where the color of her lips doesn’t lure, but scare the Beast away;

Where the nails with all its polka dots, notches and scars the bad flesh and dumps it off in the garbage of sins;

Where the drink isn’t sparkling sensual hues, but is washing the Social mind;

Where the color keeps my fear away; I’d love to bleed PINK.”

‘Pink’ is a girly color, and there is no logical reasoning behind it, except for yet another scholastic, authoritative information by our society; in fact, boys wearing ‘Pink’ is a stigma; it tarnishes their masculinity. The shade which beautifies the roses and marks the flesh as fresh; the one that sweetens the candy floss and bubbles the blood of the sacrificial goat, becomes just another metaphor for effeminate qualities, thanks to our well-versed and extremely intellectual society.

The ambiguity of ideas related to Pink have been well narrated in a scenic version by Shoojit Sircar and Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. The story is quite simple and predictable; revolves around three working women of current time, sharing a flat on rent, free of personal and social biases, in short, having all the characteristics of the so-called ‘outgoing and adamant’ women rather than independent and individualistic women of society. As a matter of fact, they get into trouble with some rich, influential chauvinistic guys, and hence follows a molestation episode with an elaborate trial session (which is the real part of the plot) of course, of the girls, not the guys.

The girls file a complaint, and in return, they are made to stand on the deck with contradicting charges against them. The idea seems familiar? Yes indeed it is; we have faced such stark, realistic court room sessions with women, in graver situations like Rituparno Ghosh’s Dahan(1997), B.R. Chopra’s Insaaf Ka Tarazu (1980), Tapan Sinha’s Adalat O Ekti Meye(1982), and not to forget the real story of Suzette Jordan, the victim of Park Street incident in 2012. The above mentioned fictions as well as the true incident, draws a verisimilitude of ideas, where the victim herself was asked for the testimony of her character, in the medical examination room, in the police station and finally in the court. Rather, the film showed what its trailer showed, unlike films like Drishyam, which had already revealed the story through its trailer, but had kept something ‘yet to know’, through its plot structure. Besides, the questions asked and raised today are synonymous to those asked 30 years back, so what has changed? But in spite of this being true, Pink (2016) stands out among them, in various aspects-

1. The story is framed in a contemporary society, the characters are relevant, they are real, and have the ability to fight their fears. It is true, we are scared to take a step forward opposite crime; the unjust seems quite demonic.

However, not only the brave girls stand up against their fears, but also an old man, who had lost all hopes for himself and his profession (because of his inappropriate psychological disposition), gets an opportunity to prove his expertise, and he does so proficiently, fighting his fear in the process. Here comes the excellence of Sree Amitabh Bachchan who subtly manages to give his expressions as a willing, yet, weak person. (due to age and disturbed mental health) When the court room session begins in the second half, we expect that Amitabh Bachchan will hit on the prosecution immediately, but unfortunately, the old Mr. Sehgal has the finesse of a lawyer, but lacks the confidence to present his case, due to the long time-gap, and disconnection from practice, he gradually develops and musters himself through the proceedings which is a commendable thing to note.

2. The film bridges the gap of mentalities between the past and the present; it falsifies the notion that people from the past generation have orthodox ideas about social norms which is basically a promotion of patriarchy; in this film, a 74-year old lawyer Deepak Sehgal believes and stands by the three young girls, for truth, justice and righteousness, while the majority of so-called the present learned, enlightened contemporary society, is still in the darkness of rotten assumptions, regarding what a girl should do and what she should not.

3. Director constantly intrigues our senses with contradictions and open-ended situations. The film has been named PINK, which is a creative contradiction to the operative thought process of society, that the color symbolizes weakness, coyness, submission, grace, elegance and anything delicate. From the ironic title, we know that what it is going to show will be completely opposite, and it IS the story of bravery, courage, uprightness and all qualities that mean strong. Minal’s molestation is kept a ‘?’, and I think this has been done on purpose to keep us on our toes, the open-ended nature of this incident has been harped on with the cinematography, as well as through dialogue delivery of barrister Sehgal, who mistakenly calls it ‘raped’ first and then corrects it to ‘molested’, so that we as audience, are unsure of what the fact actually is, whether she is raped or molested? Also the open-ended beginning of the movie, where the actual event of the rock concert night is never clearly shown, until the end, tickles the audiences’ thought process.

4. Unlike the other films, mentioned above, this one shows a positive beginning for the society; justice is finally served; please note, the Pink saree of Dahan, became a weak point for the court proceedings, the Pink rays of sunset in Gopalpur, marked the shameful and humiliating ordeal of an enlightening, but defeated woman in Adalat O ekti Meye, but the Pink bra of Minal made all of us proud as women, it fought back with courage and enthusiasm; it preserved lives, and that is how the film is different, in spite of being same.

Pink is different because it shows fight back. Minal doesn’t succumb to her fate but hits the bottle on the brat, which is a great thing; The instinctive fear to move, the fear to stand up, the fear to push and the fear to hit hard that a woman absorbs within her, when she is being badly touched by a male, has been obliterated in this film. A girl for the first time, doesn’t submit to the patriarchal beliefs, but hits them hard till they bleed badly; the courage to break the bottle is important; when you are being attacked, the natural defence mechanism is important; the consequences will follow; now imagine, if Minal had given up strength in the resort room, and had got raped, would that save her any social humiliation, than she was having now, after being charged of attempt to murder? No. The things would be all the same; the society would taunt her and question her character even then, history proves it; so why not fight and face it! Give the thrashing and then pay for it, rather than get trampled and yet pay the price. Death should be of glory and not of shame; “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.” – Mark Twain

Women, you should keep the fire ignited within, so that you can fight with honor before you die; fear will try to scare you, but never retreat, never retreat the battle of life, use the color Pink as your strength, as your weapon to behead all the ugly minds brutally.

Male Breast Cancer – What is it, How is it Detected, How is it Treated?

Abnormal cell growth patterns in the breast or cancer of the breast occurs mostly among females and is rare among males. It is estimated that for every 100 breast cases, one involves a male victim. The good news is survival rate of both male and female cancer patients has been increasing, especially if the malady is detected in its early stages.

For obvious reasons, cases of male breast cancer can be easily detected among men as they have lesser breast tissue mass compared to women. In a physical examination, the masses of tissue abnormally developing in male breasts could be easily detected. Nevertheless, the fact that the breast tissue among males is lesser also means that the cancer growth detected may have already spread to a wider area. Men are also more likely to ignore small chest lumps as early signs of the disease because of its rare occurrence among males and may only seek for a medical opinion when an abnormal tissue mass has considerably grown in size. There is also the macho factor wherein some men may show reluctance to have their breast lumps checked on some misguided concern that their masculinity could be put into question. This paradoxical situation is very similar to men who suffer from the more common male disorder called gynecomastia or male breast enlargement.

As indicated earlier, the signs of male breast cancer are also similar to those found among a female afflicted with the dreaded disease. Abnormal lumps appear in either of the breasts. Bleeding of the nipple may also be experienced, which indicate that the cancer may already have reached the lymph nodes, and wherein immediate medical intervention is needed. Another sign to look out for is an abnormality of the skin surrounding the area of the lump.

With breast cancer’s rarity among males, general screening of men for the disease isn’t usually practiced unlike among women who are advised to have yearly breast checkups after age 40. The cause for both cancers of the male and female breasts has not yet been fully established. For males, several risk factors have been identified. One is genetic, with some studies showing that males at risk are those who have several female family relatives afflicted with breast cancer. Other risk factors include exposure to radiation and high estrogen levels which may result from obesity and cirrhosis of the liver. Men with these high risk factors are often advised to undergo mammography and/or genetic testing. Other diagnostic methods include breast ultrasound and biopsy.

There are several steps that may go into male breast cancer treatment, and the specific method applied may depend on the type or stage of the disease. Mastectomy or removing the breast surgically, followed by radiation and chemotherapy are the ways of treating breast cancer. These procedures, essentially the same as those used in female sufferers, should be discussed closely between the doctor and the patient. Also up for discussion prior to actual treatment patient preparation for the treatment or operation, possible side-effects and the expected prognosis or outcome of the procedure.
