Should I Buy a Taser, Stun Gun or Pepper Spray?

Over the years I have received many requests from personal safety device seekers asking if they should buy a Taser, stun gun, or pepper spray. They always seem to be wondering the same thing. I typically interpret their question as this, “Which one of these non lethal defense products will provide me with the most protection?” or “Which one should I buy?” Rather than steer those individuals to my favorite option – the X26 Taser – I do my best to explain to them the pros and cons of each of the three options listed above.

In this article, I’ll do my best to provide an honest evaluation of each option. I’ll also try to show examples of how each choice may affect personal safety in the real world. After looking through all options hopefully you’ll be able to decide which option is right for you and your family.

First, we will examine the pros and cons of owning a stun gun for self-defense. Let’s start with the bad news. The biggest con that I can think of with relying on a stun gun to protect yourself is proximity. Whenever possible, we don’t want to be any closer to the enemy than we have to be. The range of a stun gun puts you in close proximity with the bad guy so this is definitely a con.

Now realistically, it is going to be difficult for many people to recognize from a distance that they are in danger so a stun gun may prove useful so long as you can get to it before the attacker gets his hands on you. One pro for stun guns is that if used properly, a stun gun should at least disorient your attacker. This will hopefully provide you with enough time to make your escape. Regardless of which of these tools with which you choose to defend yourself, the name of the game is flight. Do whatever you have to flee the scene and then call for help.

Now on to pepper sprays. There are several pepper sprays on the market to choose from. Everything from Mace Police strength sprays, Mace night defense products to Vampire pepper sprays, you have many self defense options. One of the biggest benefits of pepper sprays is they extend the useful range from close proximity to a few feet. This puts valuable space between you and you’re attacker. This “safety zone” unfortunately also may create a huge con. In order for pepper sprays to be effective, you have to hit your attacker with a direct shot to the face. Anything less and you’ve just poked the bear. The last thing you need is an even angrier assailant coming at you. If you want pepper spray to be effective for self defense you will need to invest a good chunk of time perfecting your aim.

Finally let’s talk about Tasers. Believe it or not, I’m not going to go for the hard sell here. That is not my intent with this article. My intent rather is to inform you of the pros and cons of each personal safety device and let you decide which one is right for you. I think you’ve probably guessed by now what I feel is the biggest pro of using a Taser. You’re wrong! There are actually two that I find of equal importance. The first you probably guessed. Tasers give you a 12 to 15 foot buffer between you and your assailant. However there is another pro that I bet you overlooked. Not only do Tasers have an extended useful range but they also greatly increase the size of the target. Remember, with stun guns the attacker has to be within arm reach and with pepper sprays your intended target is only the size of the human head. That’s not a very big target even if you’re aiming at the noggin of the most narcissistic criminal.

If you’re using a Taser, you now have the entire body to aim for not just the head so accuracy becomes a much smaller issue. In newer models such as the Taser X2, you are even able to see where you’re going to hit your target. The X2 features dual lasers to pinpoint precisely where each probe will contact your assailant. It also has a backup shot feature so if for some crazy reason you miss, you get another shot. Like everything in life there is a down side – or con – to using a Taser. There are actually a couple.

The first con is the associated cost. Buying a Taser is going to be the most expensive option, even if you buy it at a cheap price. It may be a good idea to spend a little extra on additional cartridges because just like using pepper sprays, you’re going to want to get good at hitting close to where you’re intending to hit. Another down side to using an X2 or X26 Taser are the hoops you will have to jump through to attain one. In several states it will require you to have a CPL (Concealed Pistol License) while in others a background check will be all that is needed. Many states do not differentiate between Tasers and stun guns so these steps may be a con associated with stun guns as well. Do a quick search for your states laws regarding non lethal weapons to see what you’ll be up against.

I hope this article has given you some insight into the level of protection each self defense device may offer you and your family. Whichever option you choose, be sure to arm yourself with plenty of training. Stay safe out there and God bless!

The Main Paintball Gun Parts – Know Your Weapon

If you are involved in the sport it is important to know about the main paintball gun parts. You need to understand the components of your marker to ensure its successful working and to facilitate its cleaning and upgrading. Beginners can be over whelmed by terms such as: bottom line adaptors, quick disconnect feed necks, CP micro drops and magic regulators. Essentially, most paintball gun parts will fall into one of the following main categories; body; hopper; tank or barrel.

The largest of the paintball gun parts is the main body of the marker. This comprises the bolt and the trigger frame. Bolts help to reduce the ammo breakage caused by a slow feed. The body parts can be detached from one another to incorporate upgrades and accessories. Best not to attempt this until you have become familiar with your weapon.

The body of the gun is fairly standard across the models. The main difference is in the placement of the trigger. The further forward the trigger is placed, the easier the marker is to handle with one hand and the lower the profile of the body. Guns with lower profiles are more successful in the field; markers with large bodies provide a bigger target.

The next of the main paintball gun parts is the hopper. The hopper, or loader on a marker stores and loads the ammo. Between 40 to 300 paintballs can be held by different hoppers. The speed, weight and reliability of the gun are greatly affected by the hopper type.

Stick feeds are generally used on pump action markers. They are the least sophisticated and reliable of the hopper types.

Gravity feeds are also a simple and cheap option. However, they are prone to jamming problems causing ball breakage or blockage in the hopper.

Agitating hoppers have a propeller inside the container which prevents the paintballs from jamming. They have a quicker firing pace than the previous loaders.

Force feed hoppers are used by professionals or tournament playing paintballers because they can keep up with the required loading speed. The device is spring loaded, or powered by a belt system. It captures the paintballs and forces them into the marker. They are the most sophisticated, reliable and expensive of the hopper types.

Another of the main paintball gun parts is the tank. Paintballs can be propelled in different ways and the tank contains the propellant. Markers typically use CO2 gas or high pressure air (HPA). The terms “nitrogen tank” and “HPA” tank mean the same thing.

CO2 gas was the original propulsion material. Early guns were powered by small CO2 cylinders which were good for about 15 shots. These evolved to 12 ounce CO2 tanks with a 200 shot capacity.

HPA tanks can be either high or low pressure. The regulator on the tank controls the output pressure. Some tanks have preset pressure outputs, others are adjustable. HPA is generally more reliable than CO2 and does not need an evaporation system in order to fire.

The last of the main paintball gun parts is the barrel. As the barrel determines the speed, distance and accuracy of the paintball, it is a crucial part of the marker. Barrels come in a variety of types distinguished by their length, bore and texture. Generally, the longer the barrel, the more accurate the shot as the paintball has more space to stabilize before leaving the barrel. Longer barrels will fire more quietly than shorter models, but they need a larger burst of air to propel the ball.

There are different barrels for different types of game scenarios. The sniper paintball gun is an example. It can be fitted with a scope to put the target in a clearer line of sight and a red dot laser light to add realism. Some guns allow you to change the barrels to change the whole make up of the gun.

The instruction booklet accompanying your gun will show you the different paintball gun parts and how to change and maintain them. Although paintball guns are durable, small working parts will have to be replaced occasionally. Paintball guns are designed to be upgraded so they can evolve with the abilities of the players using them. This saves the player having to buy a completely new gun as they become more accomplished. Paintball gun packages will include all of the essential paintball gun parts and accessory kits are also useful.

Heat Gun Safety Checklist – How Not To Burn Yourself

The multi-utilitarian heat gun is an extremely popular tool used in crafts, construction, the automotive industry and much more. To work the heat gun efficiently and safely, the instructions must be read thoroughly. Heat guns eject hot air which may even reach 1300° F; hence it is crucial to understand how to operate the heat gun so that precaution may be taken against the risk of serious burns.

Heat guns are generally held in one hand while the other hand can be used to complete the task that is being undertaken. A mandatory safety measure is to wear gloves that provide protection from accidental burns. The gloves used should be able to resist burns and guard the hands from the hot air that blasts from the nozzle as it can easily be misdirected.

Heat guns are often used to soften matter so that it can be molded into any shape desired or stuck to another object. During the heating process usually a lot of dangerous fumes are emitted so a well ventilated work area is essential. When painting or using adhesives most people forget the hazards of toxic fumes produced by these materials when they get hot. Hence a well ventilated room is desirable.

If the heat gun is used recklessly it may cause the handler severe burns. The heat gun may look like a hair dryer but is definitely not one, so it should never be directed at hair, skin or clothing for any cause. The heat gun must be handled with intense care and constant attention must be given to where the hot air is being directed otherwise it could lead to fatal accidents.

If one uses the heat gun responsibly then this tool can provide an immense number of benefits from its various uses. While using the heat gun you must be alert and agile because you do not want to end up with burns neither would you like your object to be burnt.

Top Factors to Consider When Purchasing Airsoft Guns

For all those who are looking to get into the sport seriously, purchasing the airsoft gun is perhaps the most crucial decision. It will play a significant role in playing the game smoothly without any hassle. Major reason for which this game is extremely popular is the adrenaline rush, thrill and the excitement that this game provides which can only be achieved with the right gun. However, purchasing the gun is no mean task as several factors need to be considered to help you nail the perfect gun for purchase. Some of those factors are:-

Determine the purpose of the gun

The types and specifications of these guns vary tremendously. Thus, it is imperative to ascertain the purpose for which you intend buying the gun. The various types of airsoft guns include sniping, covering fire, CBQ, support gunner, etc. For instance, the small CQB guns are easier to pop in and out of all corners while the snipers, despite being bulky and expensive are very powerful. The type and amount of airsoft ammunition it can hold is also crucial. For instance, an assault rifle with a high capacity magazine is ideal for covering fires whereas support guns come with hard, but heavy-hitting light machine guns. Getting a clear idea of your approach to the game will help you to buy the right type of gun.

Check out the price

It is important to decide on a budget of the airsoft gun before you buy one. The budget allocation should not only depend on your affordability but also the extent to which you intend to get involved in the game. There is no need to invest an enormous amount of money of you just plan to indulge occasionally. Initially, it’s best to opt for a cheaper version. It is because the gun tends to break while you are learning the ropes. Once you have got your game right, you can always go for the advanced and expensive model.

Power

Sometimes people make the mistake of opting for the models with the greatest amount of power in their budget. While the importance of the power cannot be overstated, they need to fit your bill. Moreover, the cheaper versions can never match the power of the expensive models though they make up for it by allowing you to make close range shots. It becomes important as the accuracy increases because of it which is what counts.

Velocity

Get the velocity level of the gun determined and then find out if that velocity offered is appropriate or not. The level of velocity must be according to the age of the user. Often this information can also be found at the rear side of the box in which the gun is packed. This advice has been given by the professionals. It also helps you in determining the speed of the gunshot.

Reliability

You cannot afford to skip on examining the overall reliability of the gun. This may look inconsequential, but different airsoft guns are known to have different reliability records. Thus you must verify beforehand that the airsoft gun you are considering buying can provide a consistent rate of fire. This difference occurs because of the different materials used in making the gun like plastic or metal which directly impacts the reliability of the gun.

Safety

While purchasing airsoft guns, safety must be given top priority. One must understand that airsoft weapons fire projectiles which can cause injury. It is best to check with local government or law enforcements and know about the legal restrictions on non-lethal weapons and their accessories. For instance, some jurisdictions require airsoft guns to be fitted with bright orange tips at the end of the barrel to help identify the weapon as being non-lethal. Often the gun tips can be interchanged with tactical colored versions to determine the teams before game play. They can later be switched back.

With these precautions, you can rarely go wrong with the purchase.

Why You Should Own a Biometric Gun Safe

The ideal protection of your valuables, especially hand guns is the best made through Biometric gun safes, which are also termed as fingerprint gun safes. It is basically a challenge to find the best suitable biometric gun safe, which suits all your requirements and satisfies its purpose of giving safety and make your valuables fully secured. Fingerprint technology has undertaken one more integral application by these safes.

The main concern is about selecting a best safe for your needs. It is a wiser option to choose a little ex
pensive safe, rather than saving a few bucks and getting a cheaper quality safe, which does not have durability and also gets malfunctioning of programs.

Here are several points given, which can help you to find a good biometric safe for your security constraints:
Back up key, you need to make sure that the biometric fingerprint safe used by you has a back up key. A biometric reader can require some of the extra swipes, before it recognizes the correct fingerprint. It is vital to have a stored key backup, for dealing with the emergency accesses the safe. You need to keep this thing in mind, if you are planning to use fingerprint technology for a gun safe at home. The better will be the backup strategies, the qualitative approach will be followed by these logic driven safes.

AC Power adapter, you are advised to add an AC power adapter to ensure the safety of a biometric gun safe and make it more reliable for your usage. A safe which runs merely on a battery is less reliable as there can be some issues with battery and moreover, in that case, you will not be able to do anything, when you will be struck up in emergency. A separate power source is necessary to add up to the peace of mind of owner and making a surety that it will work, even when the battery is discharged or gets any problematic issue.

Use customer reviews, this will always be an important issue in choosing a right kind of safe. You need to research on these safes and consult some unbiased customers, who can really help you to learn some pros and cons about these safes. Genuine reviews and comments will always aid you in making a right selection of the product and make you adopt a wise decision for the same.

Physics Behind the Paris Gun

The Paris gun is also known as the Pariskanone, and was first used on March 23, 1918. This new German attack gun was one of the most powerful weapon that was used in World War 1. It was surprising to many people that fought in World War 1 because of the physics behind the German weapon. The power of the shell and the tube together can be so powerful that when it fires it can damage lots of items. It was so powerful that it had enough power to kill 260 Parisians and many buildings in France. These casualties were not common in the 1918’s and was a propaganda success for those in Germany. Many people also did not think that the Germans were able to pull this off.

The technology behind the weapon is very unique. The tube was about 380 mm and the barrel was about 34m. The firearm weighed 138 tons and can propel a shell with a velocity of 5,260 feet per second. This was a successful invention during World War 1 because no other weapon can shoot as far and be as precise. The physics behind the Paris gun is that it uses velocity, acceleration, and projectile motion. Velocity and acceleration are needed in physics because it shows the speed of an object and a moving object that has the capacity in gaining more speed.

The Paris gun is an example of projectile motion because the shell can be launch above the Earth’s surface, called the stratosphere, and descend in a curved path because of the law of gravity. Inside the Paris gun the tube fires the shell up to 25 miles using projectile motion. Keep in mind that the tube of the Paris gun is about 380 mm long. The shell travels in the air in a U-shape then returns to the ground due to gravity. With this type of motion the shell is most likely to cause more destruction because of the gravity acting on the objects in the pass. Gravity plays a big role with the Paris gun because with a projectile like this there is one main force that acts upon gravity. The more force the shell has the farther it will travel with the help of velocity and acceleration. The Paris gun uses Newtons first law of motion which determines the direction the shell can go. France was not prepared to see what Germans can do.

Keep Your Gun Safe: Clean and Store It Properly

Gun safety is about more than keeping the gun locked up tightly when it is not in use or storing the gun and ammunition separately. Failing to clean a gun properly after use can interfere with its operation, putting you and anyone around you at risk when you discharge your weapon.

The number one rule of gun safety is to always unload your weapon before you begin cleaning it. Check to make sure there is no ammunition in the gun and remove its magazine or clip. Never put your finger near the trigger when disassembling the gun. If there is ammunition in the gun, remove it and set in an area away from the cleaning area. Cleaning solvents will destroy ammo if spilled on it. Better yet, lock the ammo in a gun storage area while you clean the gun so that no one can access it. After unloading the gun, keep the barrel pointed away from you.

The method of cleaning a gun varies from model to model. You should leave the action open and the ammunition stored separately. If the gun has a bolt, you should remove it before cleaning. Wipe the bolt with solvent, then use a soft cloth to clean the solvent and any grease off. Dry the bolt, apply lubricant and set aside. You’ll need to clean the bore, or the inside of the gun’s barrel, next. Coat a bore brush with the solvent, then scrub inside the bore to remove grease. After you’ve scrubbed the bore, you will need to remove the loosened grease with a patch or rag. Soak the patch with the solvent, then run through the bore. Depending on how dirty the gun is, you may need to use several patches to get it clean. You will know the bore is clean when the patches you run through the bore are no longer covered in grease. Use a clean patch to apply a thin layer of lubricant inside the bore. Depending on the type of gun you have, you may also have to clean the chambers in the same fashion. Clean the remaining parts of the gun using the same method, then put the gun back together. Leave the gun unloaded.

Remember to always handle a gun as if it is loaded. Before putting the gun in storage, put a cable lock or safety device on it. The safest option for gun storage is to place the gun in a pistol lock box, the set the box in a locking safe. Ideally, the safe should have some sort of climate control feature, as temperature fluctuations and humidity can cause wear and damage to the gun. Keep the ammunition and cleaning supplies locked away separately.

Solvents and lubricants are poisonous and should be kept out of the reach of young children. Store them in a high cabinet. Put poison stickers on the bottles and teach your children to avoid any bottles with the stickers. Store the keys to the gun safe and the keys to the ammunition storage out of sight and out of reach as well as separately. For example, put the keys to the gun safe on the top shelf of your bedroom closet and the keys to the ammunition storage in the back of a drawer in another room. For gun safety, you need to inspect it after you finish shooting and before taking it out again. Look it over for cracks or signs of wear. You may want to clean the gun, especially if it has been in storage for a long time.

A Pistol Gun Case Is Just About As Valuable As the Gun Itself

Police officers and other law enforcement agencies are the only ones that are allowed to carry weapons on them out of a protective case, or now anyone who holds a permit. Most other people will need a legal type of gun case. So the bigger percentage of people who own licensed weapons will need to have a pistol gun case in which they can carry their weapon when they are moving about from area to area. Even people who do not have a permit, will require some type of case to keep there weapon safe, when not in use and not in a holster. This is where a pistol gun case comes in handy.

It should be in your best interest as a gun owner to protect your pistol from the elements of the weather and environment. A pistol gun case that is of very good quality can help to achieve this goal and also allow you to transport your firearm safely and without any damage. Plus a pistol carrying case will protect the weapon from dust, moisture and any damage caused by traveling. A gun or pistol that is well taken care of will also extend the life of your gun and allow this otherwise expensive investment to work well over a extended period of time.

Pistol gun cases made of metal are the most sought after, and one can consider the ones made of aluminum is wanted because of the weight factor. Such pistol carrying cases are meant to hold the firearm and keep it from moving, while it is being transported from place to place. This is achieved by having customized holders or soft foam that holds the weapon firmly in place in the case. Most pistol cases are also filled with a foam that is very dense and able to protect that investment caused by any accident of the case. Most cases also allow a lot of other items that you want to protect to be carried in them. The best of cases are also moisture resistant and thus can be carried in any weather condition.

Different as with a soft pistol case, the hard pistol cases are more expensive but if your valued item needs to be in a safe, secure place then spending on a better case would be a good choice. Compared to a cheap case made up of cheap quality materials, when the case is of the best quality you can get, be rest assured that the item is safe inside. As a final point if you are finding it very difficult to find the right choice of a pistol gun case it is better to shop on the internet, as they give a wide range of stylish cases with good discounts. They also give a very detailed description of the case which helps you to identify if that is the one that is right for you. Manufacture brand matters a lot so spending some extra cash for the right brand would be highly advisable in the long run to keep you happy and satisfied for many years to come.

Why Buy a Non-Firing Gun? – 4 Reasons it Makes Sense

Since I had two different people ask me recently why anybody would buy a gun that didn’t fire and couldn’t be made to fire, I figured it was a fair question that deserved an answer. Here are four reasons why:

(1) There are many legal restrictions on the sale of real guns.

You simply can’t buy a “real” gun, or can’t buy the one you want in many instances, because there are restrictions on purchasing them in many countries, and even some states or municipalities in the United States. Non-firing replica guns are legal to buy and own without any restriction in most of the United States and in many countries of the world, and don’t require any sort of license or permit. If you want a firearm to protect life and property or to use for hunting and target shooting, obviously the non-firing type doesn’t make sense. But what if you just wanted a classic .357 Magnum with an 8-inch barrel to display as part of a collection, or maybe the sleek Walther PPK, like James Bond uses in the movies? Except for relatively few places where replicas of “modern” firearms are banned due to their realistic appearance, you would be able to buy a totally realistic, non-firing replica of either of those classic handguns.

(2) Non-firing replicas can be safely displayed in your home or office.

Non-firing replicas do not fire, and cannot be adapted to do so. Their barrels have metal plugs inside, and while they are made of metal that approximates the weight and heft of a real gun, they are not made of the kind of high-tensile steel required to withstand the pressure and hot gases of a gunpowder charge. Moreover, the chambers and clips are made a non-standard size so that real bullets won’t fit them, as an added safety measure.

So long as they are handled sensibly by responsible adults who display them as collectibles or use them in reenactments, living history performance or film productions, they are completely safe.  “Safe” means if you want to practice your western quick-draw in front of a mirror, you won’t accidentally shoot yourself in the foot with a replica Colt .45! If you really want to unleash your inner Wyatt Earp, get yourself a frock coat, brocade vest and a replica of a Tombstone Marshal’s badge, and join one of the many quick-draw  groups in the U.S. and other countries and test your draw against other would-be “gunslingers.”

“Handled sensibly” means because they look so authentic, you don’t take them out in public and wave them around where a cop or somebody might mistake it for the real thing and shoot you. Of course they should be kept out of the hands of children, too, for the same reason–and also because loading mechanisms and other metal moving parts in a quality replica can pinch or mash little fingers.

(3) Real antique firearms are usually difficult or impossible to find, and they cost a lot more.

Despite the number of them that were captured and brought back to the United States during both World Wars, a real Luger P08 Parabellum for sale is difficult to find. A thorough internet search yielded only two for sale, priced at $3107 and $6214 U.S. A search for a real Broomhandle Mauser C96 yielded only one, and it was $3650 U.S.

If you go back even further in time to look for an original 1861 Navy Colt, you can certainly find them, but be sure to bring your checkbook! At a recent on-line auction, a mint 1861 Colt Navy, still in the wood presentation case with powder flask and other accessories, went for over a million dollars! Of course that Colt had belonged to the officer in command of Fort Sumter at the outbreak of the Civil War, which surely added to its value, and you can certainly find 1861 Navy Colts that sell for a lot less that that. But unless the gun had never been fired (which likely puts it in the high-dollar category), it probably wouldn’t be wise or safe to try firing it, as it would be impossible to tell the condition of internal parts, how it had been maintained, etc. So when it comes to antique guns, just because you bought a “real” one doesn’t mean you can fire it, and anything in mint, fireable condition is going to be expensive.

Vintage rifles, such as the octagonal-barreled 1860 Henry (like the one Quigley used in the movie “Quigley Down Under”) are nearly impossible to find. Even a modern, firing reproduction of the 1860 Henry sells for around $3,000 U.S.

Realistic, non-firing replicas of these same historic guns cost a small fraction of what you can expect to pay for a real one. Best of all, ‘rare’ and ‘scarce’ are not a problem. Everything from the elusive Luger P-08 to a Brown Bess Musket from the American Revolutionary War is easy to find, at a price that is affordable for almost any budget.

(4) Quality non-firing replicas are historically authentic and have working mechanical parts.

A quality, non-firing replica is the closest thing you can get to a “real” gun.   They have the heft, weight and handling “feel” of a real gun–everything except the bang and the bullet.  When we say “quality”, we’re not talking about those chunks of plastic resin molded and painted to look like a gun. Quality replicas are made of metal and, in the case of models with wood grips or trim, it will be real, oiled and polished wood (usually walnut) just like a real gun. “Ivory” or “pearl-handled” grips will probably be a polymer imitation, but in appearance, feel and action, replicas will closely resemble the genuine article, right down to the action of real moving parts in the loading and firing mechanisms.

Hammers cock and will strike the chamber with an audible “click” when the trigger is pulled. Clips insert and release (you can even get dummy “bullets” to load into some models.) Cylinders rotate, and/or swing out, depending on the model.  AK-47 assault rifle replicas can be field-stripped and cleaned like a real one, and are often used for training, for that reason. . A quality replica is heavy, and has the heft, look and feel of a real gun. How cool would it be to display a realistic replica of Wild Bill Hickock’s engraved 1851 Navy Colt on your desk, or hang a realistic copy of Dan’l Boone’s famous Kentucky rifle on your wall? You can find a replica of almost any famous pistol or rifle with a quick search on the internet.  Non-firing replica guns are great conversation pieces, and a piece of history you can hold in your hands.

The Perfect Paintball Gun – Magazine Marker Vs Hopper Fed

How does one pick the “Perfect Paintball Marker or Paintball Hopper for the Perfect Paintball Gun”? There are so many choices it is enough to make the paintball player’s head spin. There are so many variables to taken in to consideration:

1. Will the Paintball player be playing on an outdoor field, in the woods, or in an indoor arena

2. Next, one of the biggest concerns is how affordable is the gun and Paintball Gear for the paintballer.

3. Will the gun or Paintball gear be used on a regular basis or the use of the Paintball Gun and Paintball equipment be used only occasionally.

If the buyer is planning to use the Paintball gun on an ongoing basis, they need to purchase a higher end gun to avoid the gun jamming and creating issues the paintballer does not want to put up with during competition. Plus the higher end Paintball gun will give the player added satisfaction in the performance of the gun.

Two ways to load a gun is the old standard “Hopper Fed’ or the newer ” Magazine fed” Paintball marker. Several paintball companies are manufacturing military markers and the marker’s magazines. So real looking are the magazine markers they can mistaken for real rifles. This is the newest way to play Paintball…military style.

The magazine is low profile and players love this because they can be stealth and camouflage their movements on the battlefield without giving up the players and the players position.

When the gun is encumbered with the hopper, the hopper often will give away the players position on the field. The player becomes an easy mark to be picked off by the enemy. One drawback to the magazine is the inability to hold as much ammo as the hopper. Therefore the player must carry extra magazines and the Paintball gun needs to be reloaded more often than the gun with the hopper.

Magazines are positioned a little bit behind and below the gun. This allows the player to be able to peek over the bunker and shoot. Hoppers stick up and are an easy target for the enemy.

The new magazines can shoot 1,800 balls per 68 Cu of air. This leads to serious competition. The player in the Paintball field often is part of a team. And the team wears matching uniforms. The uniforms are often customized depending on players use for them. Paintball gear is concealed in the woods, exactly military camouflage style. Combatants wear camouflage as well. All of this gives the tournament the feel of a real military engagement. The combatants have extra paintball gear, hoppers, barrels, magazines and other Paintball equipment that can be separated and switched as the conditions of battle require.

So, which is the players favorite Paintball gun…the hopper or the magazine…maybe both? There is the dedicated “woodballer” that only will use magazines. Those players want their Paintball guns and Paintball Gear to be as authentically military as it can get. The most popular right now is the magazine marker. At times these games last for days. Duplicating World War II battles require tons of ammunition. In this case the player will be toting both hoppers and magazines. This requires the gun to be a Splitfire Paintball gun option. Warriors can use both actions. But for the short mission the magazine is sufficient.

During the heat of battle the magazine fed Paintball Gun could jam if the magazine fails. This fear is realistic. So the hopper fans stick to their old faithful Paintball Gear.

If you are a weekend Paintball player and you haven’t gone fanatical, the hopper is the easiest and most used marker. An added benefit to the hopper is the affordability factor. Because tactical paintball has had enormous growth in popularity the magazine fed markers will not fade away.
