Mesothelioma – What You Must Know

Mesothelioma is a very tricky disease. It is a type of lung cancer and, as is common with lung cancer, symptoms of the disease can take many years to develop.

It is caused from exposure to asbestos. The disease usually lies undetected for up to 30 years after it first develops. Once symptoms are present the disease has already progressed to the late stage when treatment is very difficult. There is little treatment that can be effective in the later stages.

Detecting the Disease

Symptoms of mesothelioma can vary from person to person, which adds to the difficulty in detecting the disease. Symptoms also vary depending on the type. It can be pleural, peritoneal or pericardial. Another issue with detecting the disease is that the symptoms can often be confused with common illnesses like the flu, bronchitis and heart disease.

The best chance of detecting the disease is a careful review of the history of the patient. Discovering previous exposure to asbestos can be the main thing to trigger testing and finally the detection of the disease. Testing that is currently used is quite expensive. Many times doctors will avoid testing unless they have a specific reason to suspect it.

There is research being done to help develop tests for the earlier detection of the disease. These tests would hopefully be able to diagnose the disease early enough for treatment to be effective.

Symptoms

The most common symptoms include:

– coughing

– shortness of breath

– chest pain

– weight loss that is unexplained

– sleeping problems

These symptoms can easily be misdiagnosed. Many of them are common symptoms of bronchial illness or even heart disease. During the time that a doctor is investigating these possible illnesses, the cancer is given time to grow further. This is a costly mistake. Doctors often do not immediately think that it could be mesothelioma unless they know the history of that patient for asbestos exposure.

Treatment

There are three common courses of treatment. The treatments include surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Surgery is the most common option since it allows for removal of the infected area. Lining in the chest and abdomen, part of the lungs or part of the diaphragm may be removed during surgery. Radiation may be used to kill cancer cells that cannot be removed through surgery. Chemotherapy can also be used to kill off cancer cells. No treatment is completely effective since lung cancer can be difficult to treat in general as it spreads very quickly in the later stages throughout the body.

Conclusion

Mesothelioma is a very deadly cancer. It is difficult to detect during early stages when cancer is best treated. It is also expensive to diagnose since tests can be costly. Many doctors will look for other illnesses before ever checking for this disease. This is why if you have been exposed to asbestos and are exhibiting these symptoms then you need to inform your doctor about your asbestos exposure. This is the best chance you have of catching the disease and starting treatment that could save your life.

Rooibos Tea Benefits: 7 Reasons You Should Drink Some NOW

Rooibos tea, from the South African red bush plant, has long provided fast, flavorful relief from many common maladies. Headaches, stomach aches, skin problems, and allergies can all be alleviated through the regular consumption of this herbal tea. But that’s just the beginning – here are seven more remarkable Rooibos tea benefits… so drink up!

Powerful Antioxidants & Flavonoids

Just as air makes metal rust, there are atoms called free radicals that attack the cells of our body. The damage caused by free radicals can lead to a domino effect of aging, illness, heart disease and cancer. The natural antioxidants and flavonoids found in red bush attack and halt this damage, reducing the likelihood of wrinkles, stroke, and heart disease. The plant also contains a particular flavonoid called aspalathin, found nowhere else in nature, which research has shown to have effects similar to Vitamin E.

Healthy Hydration

Black tea and green tea have been making headlines as promoting good health with antioxidants and flavonoids, and Rooibos is fast gaining popularity for the same reasons. Unlike the black and green varieties, however, Rooibos tea is caffeine-free and the naturally sweet flavor typically means fewer (if any) sweetener needs to be added.

Silky Smooth Skin

Staying properly hydrated is only one way of keeping skin healthy and silky smooth. The antioxidant properties of red bush tea fight against skin damaging free radicals. Both drinking and external use of this South African tea benefits skin by reducing inflammation from eczema, acne, psoriasis, and even diaper rash.

Love Your Heart

Drinking Rooibos tea benefits blood vessel health and reduces inflammation, thereby reducing strain on the heart. The antioxidants benefit the heart another way as well; too much oxygen can actually cause damage to the body; this is called oxidative stress. A balance between oxidants and antioxidants is an important factor to deterring heart disease.

A Balanced Beverage

Unlike sodas, artificially flavored fruit drinks, coffee, or alcohol, drinking Rooibos tea benefits your health in many ways. Naturally sweet and calorie free, this tea doesn’t add unwanted calories and it is safe for diabetics. It also contains 9 essential minerals and fluoride, and is very low in tannins.

Something To Smile About

Red bush contains calcium and trace minerals that work to keep teeth strong and healthy. This tea benefits your smile in others ways as well. It contains fluoride that can help prevent plaque formation and the ensuing periodontal disease it can cause.

Sweet Dreams And Calm Tummies

Babies of South Africa are frequently given this healthful tea to provide relief from digestive troubles and to help them sleep. Healthy or ill, these children reap the same benefits as adults from red bush tea: antioxidant protection, improved hydration, and better dental health.

Red bush tea can be found in many supermarkets, health food stores and from online distributors that specialize in this unique tea. Try Rooibos tea today for a lifetime of benefits and good taste!

If you don’t do keyword research before you construct a website, you are truly building in the dark. Wordtracker helps me to understand the market before I jump in with both feet.

The Anatomy of Tea

Like all plants tea, also known as the Camellia sinensis plant has various distinguishing characteristics. Tea bushes are actually considered an evergreen. Unless continually pruned back for cultivation purposes, they can grow over 30 feet tall. Tea farmers, however, are well aware of this fact and keep the plant under control to aid in harvesting.

Tea Leaves

The leaves of a tea plant have an oval shape and alternate on the bush. Most branches have an average of 10-11 leaves on a 12-inch branch. The length can be about from one to twelve inches, and the width twice that. The plant yields blossoms with stamens that also get harvested for tea.

Tea leaves have a leathery, smooth texture and, at the adult stage, a dark green color. They have four lobes with seeds inside each leaf. Tea leaf seeds remain dormant until they’re ready to sprout based on the environment. Tea flowers grow both singly and on leaf axis. Both leaves and flowers become part of commercial tea.

Plant Cultivation

Tea thrives in the subtropics, particularly areas that receive at least 50 inches of rainfall annually. While the plant can survive other environments, including high elevations, the most stable plants require that amount of hydration.

India vs. China

Different tea cultivators often have different cultivating regions. Assam comes from Northeastern India, while Darjeeling grows in the Himalayas. Nilgiri grows in even higher elevations than the Darjeeling. The gentle nature of these teas makes them very suitable for blending with other types. The Chinese tea bush is smaller in stature, generally growing to about 9 feet tall. Its native to this region and the oldest tea culture to be discovered.

Soil

Tea grows best in slightly sandy soil that offers acidity.

Best Parts of the Plant

Flushes, or the first 1-2″ of a mature tea plant, are considered the very best part of the tea bush. During a good season, tea plants produce new flushes every 7-10 days, but the first flush is considered the highest quality tea. Each subsequent harvest has decreased value to connoisseurs.

Tea Names

A tea may be named according to the region from which it comes. More commonly, however, its given color designations like green, black, and white. These designations have nothing whatsoever to do with the anatomy of a tea bush, but rather with how it gets processed. Black tea is highly oxidized compared to white tea that’s barely handled to avoid any type of bruising.

What Makes for Good Tea?

Chinese sayings tell us that the best tea plants are those that grow in the high mountains. This idea may tie to the positive nature of mountains in Feng Shui philosophy. More scientifically the mountains shield the tea bush against both mist and too much sunlight. Just like grapes and wine, the growing environment affects tea quality heavily, as does the talent of the processor. Generally, however, the Spring Flush is favored for the best quality teas of any color or processing technique.

How to Prepare a Personal Injury Settlement Brochure

Thoroughness is the key when preparing a settlement brochure or demand package to attempt settlement of an injury case.

Here are 32 tips gleaned from over 20 years experience that comprise a checklist or template to make sure your booklet is as complete as possible.

(Note: in this checklist the “settlement brochure” is sometimes called the “demand.”)

1. Order PIP/MedPay payments ledger from your insurance company (the company of the car you were in at the time of the accident.)

2. Receive the PIP/MedPay payments ledger.

3. Check the ledger for any other doctors, clinics, prescriptions etc. that you had overlooked.

4. Make a complete list of all of your doctors, hospitals etc.

5. Request impairment rating or final narrative report letter from one of your treating doctors.

6. Obtain all Medical Bills.

7. Obtain all Medical Reports and records.

8. Mail or fax to your employer a LOST WAGES REQUEST LETTER. This asks your employer’s human resources department for:

1) your hourly wage at time of accident, and

2) how many hours were missed because of the accident.

9. Once you have received lost wages information from employer, calculate lost wages.

10. Check dates of service on ALL medical bills, prescriptions, reports, records, etc. Make sure bills are current and include all services to date.

11. Arrange medical bills in chronological order, keeping all of one doctor’s/clinic’s bills together, then list each doctor/clinic, and total expenses from that clinic, on MEDICAL SPECIALS SUMMARY in same order. Note: in injury cases, medical bills are known as “medical specials.”

12. Check for prescriptions. Add to MEDICAL SPECIALS SUMMARY.

13. Have any of the doctors predicted a specific need for future treatment? If so, add amounts to bottom of MEDICAL SPECIALS SUMMARY. (Place a copy of future medicals documentation in future medicals section of demand.)

14. Read medical records and reports to identify any problem areas. (In reading, if another doctor/clinic is mentioned check on it to see if there are more medical bills.

15. Organize medical records and reports in reverse chronological order.

16. If this is an uninsured/underinsured motorist case, gather information that is evidence of existence of an uninsured or underinsured motorist.

17. Obtain liability or jury verdict research. Note: if there is an issue as to liability it is helpful to enclose legal research that supports your position. This may be obtained from a law library.

18. Draft DEMAND LETTER. This is the cover letter for your brochure that summarizes all of the information.

19. Type DEMAND LETTER, MEDICAL SPECIALS SUMMARY, FUTURE MEDICALS SUMMARY, and LOST WAGES SUMMARIES.

20. Proofread DEMAND LETTER, MEDICAL SPECIALS SUMMARY, FUTURE MEDICALS SUMMARY, and LOST WAGES SUMMARY. Check date of accident on accident report against the date in letter.

21. Check verdict amounts in comparable verdicts with what is typed in demand letter.

22. Check spelling on medical terms, and on doctors’, clients’ and adjusters’ names.

23. Check to see that all dollar amounts and numbers are correct numbers.

24. Check all dollar totals with an adding machine. This may seem trivial but your accuracy will reflect on your credibility.

25. Check names and amounts on MEDICAL SPECIALS SUMMARY and compare them for accuracy with the amounts on the actual bills.

26. Place divider sheets in appropriate places so as to divide the demand package into sections.

27. Finalize DEMAND LETTER, MEDICAL SPECIALS SUMMARY, FUTURE MEDICALS SUMMARY, and LOST WAGES SUMMARY.

28. Make sure letter is signed before copying. Copy entire demand package; make an EXACT copy of what you send to the insurance company.

29. Make sure divider tabs are “in” for each section and are labeled in both demand and your copy.

30. After copying the demand package, go through it page by page to make sure that every page got copied, and that pages are facing up. Be sure highlighted items get highlighted on copy.

31. Mail or hand deliver the demand package/settlement booklet to insurance company.

32. Calendar for follow up in five days with adjuster. You want to make sure the package arrived. You also want to ask the claims adjuster how long it will take her to review it and get back to you with a response.

Summary

The care and thoroughness of your settlement booklet will be reflected in the size of the offer. Build credibility and trust by being complete and accurate. Good luck!

Commercial Financing for Special Purpose Business Properties

Funeral homes, assisted living facilities, campgrounds and other special purpose properties represent one of the most difficult commercial loan situations which will be confronted by a business owner. Unique properties are not easily understood by traditional lenders, so the most common solution involves finding a non-traditional lender for funeral home financing as well as commercial financing for other special purpose properties. Such non-traditional lenders will be appropriate for purchase situations as well as refinancing and new construction.

KEY REASONS FOR DIFFICULTY IN ARRANGING COMMERCIAL FINANCING FOR SPECIAL PURPOSE PROPERTIES

(1) By definition special purpose properties are not similar to other commercial properties. This makes many lenders uncomfortable due to the likely difficulty of finding another owner for a unique commercial property should it be necessary due to a loan default.

(2) For funeral homes and many other special purpose commercial properties, most of the business value is represented by non-real estate assets. With traditional commercial lenders that focus on commercial real estate loans, it is almost impossible to get a loan based on the real estate value and the business value. For example, it is not uncommon to have a situation in which the real estate for a funeral home is valued at less than one million dollars while the overall business value is in excess of three million dollars.

(3) Because commercial financing is so difficult to arrange for special purpose properties such as funeral homes, assisted living facilities and campgrounds, sellers of such properties are generally willing to provide substantial seller financing to assist the buyer in acquiring the business. However, many traditional lenders do not recognize or accept seller financing as a means of reducing down payment requirements for special purpose properties.

(4) Many lenders simply do not understand the business complexities associated with a special purpose property. As a result, it is not uncommon for these lenders to attach onerous and expensive requirements such as business plans and environmental reviews. In most cases such lenders do not even want to make the business loan but will use undesirable loan requirements as a means of appearing to approve a loan when in fact they have disapproved the loan by adding commercial loan terms that they do not expect a commercial borrower to accept.

COMMERCIAL LOAN SOLUTIONS FOR SPECIAL PURPOSE PROPERTIES

For a business borrower facing the situation described above, the highest priority should be to locate a non-traditional commercial lender that engages in the following commercial loan practices:

(1) Openly welcomes special purpose properties and routinely finances such properties.

(2) Provides commercial financing for both the business and real estate.

(3) Accepts substantial seller financing.

(4) Does not add special requirements to the business loan for special purpose commercial properties.

(5) Has a history of making loans for the specific type of property under consideration.

(6) Can accommodate both small and large commercial loans for special purpose commercial properties (for example, loans as small as $100,000 and loans as large as $5 million or higher).

Popular Nursery Rhymes and Their Origin

As a kid, we have always enjoyed singing nursery rhymes at our preschool. But do you know when were our favorite rhymes first published and their origin? Let’s learn about the origin of popular rhymes and when were they composed.

Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush

“Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush” is a one of the kids’ favorite nursery rhyme and singing game. The rhyme was first recorded in 19th century by James Orchard Halliwell as an English kids’ game in the mid-19th century. Historians believe that the song originated with female prisoners at HMP Wakefield. They took a sprig from Hafield Hall, which was then nurtured and it grew into a fully mature mulberry tree. The prisoners exercised around this mulberry tree in the moonlight. Till date, there is no evidence to support his theory.

Some historians also associate the rhyme with Britain’s struggle to produce silk. The mulberry trees were a key habitat for the cultivation of silkworms, so they grew the tree in a large scale. In nineteenth and eighteenth centuries, Britain tried to compete with China’s silk production but suffered a huge loss as mulberry trees were too sensitive to frost and all withered. The traditional lyrics ‘Here we go round the mulberry bush / On a cold and frosty morning’ is therefore considered as a joke about the hurdles faced by the industry.

Baa Baa Black Sheep

“Baa Baa Black Sheep” is a popular English nursery rhyme. Several theories are associated with the origin of the song. It is popularly believed that it is a complaint against Medieval English heavy taxes on wool.

Hickory Dickory Dock

“Hickory Dickory Dock” is a well-known nursery rhyme in English-speaking world. Few experts came up with the theory that the rhyme originated as a counting-out rhyme. In the nineteenth century, Westmorland shepherds used the numbers Hevera (8), Devera (9) and Dick (10). Another popular theory related to its origin is that the “Hickory Dickory Dock” song is based on an astronomical clock at Exeter Cathedral, which has a small hole in the door for the resident cat to catch mice. That’s really interesting!

Mary Had a Little Lamb

“”Mary Had a Little Lamb” is one of the kids’ favorite nursery rhymes. It is a delightful tale of Mary and her little lamb, who followed her to school one day. It is a poem by Sarah Josepha Hale and is inspired by a real incident. A young girl named Mary Sawyer had a pet lamb that she took to her school at the suggestion of her sibling.

Pruning Roses – Crucial Tips on Rose Pruning For Mediterranean Climate Gardeners

The mild winters common to Mediterranean climates means that pruning woody plants in general, and roses in particular, ought to be carried out differently than in cold, temperate climates. This includes both when and how to prune roses bushes.

The reasons for pruning are the same however, irrespective of the climate. These are principally, to induce better flowering in terms of both quantity and quality, and to remove old growth for the purpose of encouraging juvenile growth. The possibility of enjoying the beauty of a rose bush for years to come depends largely on this last point.

When to Prune Roses

In mild winter climates, it is important not to prune too early in the winter, because the combination of warm spells, together with the act of pruning, induces buds to sprout and grow, only for late frosts to wipe out the juvenile tissue. This is not only a source of fungal and bacterial infection, but also is liable to weaken the rose plant in general. As rule of thumb, prune about 6 weeks before the date when frosts are unlikely to occur.

How to Prune Roses

Unlike in cold climates, there is no need to prune the roses hard to the ground. This only wastes valuable energy. Instead, it is often sufficient to remove between a third and a half of the shrub’s height. Preferably, one should cut into young branches, at growing points (buds) that are facing outwards.

New growth does not always develop from old wood, so if all the bush’s main branches are old, it may be necessary to prune higher up the plant, on secondary branches. That is why new growth should be encouraged by clearing old branches at the bud union. (The woody swelling between the roots and the branches)

3 Points to Remember

*While most cultivated rose varieties flower on the current year’s spring growth, some species roses, especially those that originate from continental climates such as in Central Asia, flower on growth that started in the previous spring. The consequence of pruning in the winter, whether at the beginning or at the end, is therefore, to remove all the flower buds. This is invariably the reason behind the common complaint – “my roses never seem to flower!” With such roses, pruning should be delayed until the plants have finished flowering.

*Climbing roses are liable to regress to their non-climbing origins, if branches are shortened too much. Pruning should be restricted to deadheading spent flowers, or entirely removing one or two old limbs.

*Rambling and other species roses are more valuable for their shape, texture, and form, than for their brief period of flowering. Shortening branches, which is suitable for cultivated varieties (hybrid teas, floribundas e.t.c.) spoils the bushes natural shape. In such cases, it is better to thin old wood, by cutting out branches completely.

Nostradennis – Prophecy Comes Alive in Our Time

These recently discovered prophecies of the 14th Century monk and mystic, Nostradennis of Greenville, are here presented for the first time. They were found in a mayonnaise jar on a shelf in the men’s room of an old monastery. Their uncanny references to present day circumstances are just short of astrounding. Who says Prophecy does not come alive in our time!

“And behold shall a bush burn in the desert and many shall be perplexed and afraid that a bush could could speak and become a King of fierce countenance and big bucks.

And betimes shall the season come when appointments by the people of men, most congressional shall be made, and it shall terrify the King of the West and vex him most sorely.

Diebolt on de door shall he close and only those of the King shall be accepted, though their end seem near.

And in the time when the Witch of November be blowin, shall the King bring forth vexations of spirit to the people so that appointments by the people of men most congressional shall not be for now. Postponements shall abound along with wickedness most foul.

A code of Red shall the King most fierce declare upon the people and the Eagle shall smell a rat, though the rat shall yet live for yet a time, times and some more time.

And the people of the King of the West shall languish and cry bwaaaa, bwaaa, bwaaa unto the King and shall hear them not. ‘Please kill me not’ shall they utter but with scorn shall the bush burns in the desert mock them.

Those that speak for the people shall say naught…

And the King shall chuckle…

And betimes after the great postponement of appointments by the people of men most congressional, shall arise, from the East, a Great Bird to infect the Eagle, though it be planned so to be.

A great sickness shall come upon the Eagle, at the behest of Cardinals aflockin and the people shall be very ill. And the Eagle that flu so proudly shall flee to it’s home and wait till the sickness be past. This shall occur when the King of West shall near the end of his time come and yet not want it so to be.

Code of Red shall he declare so that it be not that a new King can come. So he must yet abide a short time more. And the people shall pray that Thy new King can come, and their will be done, but it shall not be, for the Bush that burns shall declare it not time for New King Can Come and so it cometh not.

And the people of the King of the West shall languish and cry bwaaa, bwaaa, bwaaaunto the King and he shall hear them not..nor shall he care for them betimes.

Those that speak for the people yet naught shall say nor shall they defend the people from the King most fierce.

And the King shall chuckle and prosper…

And with codes of yellow, orange and red shall the King beguile the people make them oft afeared.

For in afearness shall the power of the King lie.

And the King, with clothes most new, as of an Emperor shall utterly fail betimes. Those who Rove in the desert of bushes that burn shall also fail betimes and condi-mints shall not be found on beds made wherein the King must now lie.

And then comes the end when the people shall see salvation most needed. The Eagle shall once again to her senses come and fly not flu, nor of other birds that flu be afeared. The cardinal, yeah truly, not even peckers of wood shall torment the Eagle and she shall be free.

And the people shall not cry bwaa, bwaa, bwaaa again no more forever, from where the sun now stands. And they will rise again on eagles wings and be free

And those that spoke not for the people shall repent of her sins and of the people beg forgiveness.

And men of congress, shall be of and for the people once again. Exterminator and terminators shall not prosper, nor shall liars rule the people.

And the King of the West, when inquiry shall be made of the poopage he hath caused, shall say…”It be not my problem” as oft he spoke when ruler of parts south and west he gave up to be King.

But behold, his problem it is and none shall his advice or counsel seek when to the private sector he is banished. For what can a King, who burned as a bush so badly in the desert and freedom most precious to the people mocked, do for us? For in the day we hire the ex-King, shall our profits languish and be false profits you betcha believe it.

And the King of the West shall be no more a pox upon the sons of men. The Lion shall dwell with the Lamb and the little child shall lead them…Neither shall they learn war anymore…And common sense shall return a second time betimes again

Thus let it be said..thus let it be written…thus shall it be..Amen.”

I, Nostradennis on the River Saluda, do declare these things that must shortly come to pass. I drink not the fruit of the vine nor of any weed or mushroom partake, but have revealed for true what mine eye hath seen betimes and all my friends say “prophecy on dude.” Even so come…Amen again.

Whoa……..is that not spooky? Nostradennis…a man ahead of his time!
