Sing Star is a competitive and an innovative music video game series developed for play station consoles. Sing Star games are distributed in two kinds one is with the USB Microphones bundled along with the game and the second is a game alone. The games are compatible with Eye toy and play station cameras that allow the players to see themselves while singing.
The main idea is that players sing along with music in order to score points. The game requires pitch players to sing in the horizontal grey bars that are present which functions similar to a musical instrument with the corresponding lyrics displayed at the bottom of the screen. The game then analyzes a player’s pitch and compares it to the original track and then rates the player based on how accurate the singing is.
The game also includes a variety of game modes, out of which the standard singing mode allows one or two people to sing simultaneously, that, can be done in either competitively or in duet. There is also a “Pass the Mic” mode that allows up to eight players to sing in a series of rounds in two teams. The original Sing Star that was developed for play station 2 also had a career mode.
The games, that were developed for PlayStation 2, differs only in the track list contained on the game disc. The game is basically shipped with 30 songs that is which the maximum that can be accommodated onto a single layer DVD. The games also allows players to swap discs for another Sing Star disc by allowing access to the songs on other versions without the need to reset the console.
There is also powered by a powerful On-line community known as My Sing Star Online that is inspired by people uploading photos and videos of Sing Star parties to some of the famous social networking websites. The game will also record photos and videos of players singing with the Play station eye camera or eye toy cameras which can be saved onto the play station’s hard disk drive or upload it to the Online network. Users can also rate on each others performances and leave comments on other people’s profiles too.
