The Salt Lake Temple is the most photographed, most painted and the most recognized temple in the Church of the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There are many paintings of this temple. Some of these paintings are portrayed at night when the spires of the temple glow white and the temple body has a warm orange glow. There are others that show the city in an earlier time with horses, coaches, and buggies. On the temple recommend and other church literature about the temple a line drawing of the Salt Lake temple is used to represent the temple.

A well known Mormon artist Doc Christensen has recently created a day-time painting of the temple with a view looking up towards the spires. In the clouds is a silhouette of Savior’s face.

There are many paintings that have been turned into puzzles by a Utah company called Dowdle Folk Art. The Salt Lake Temple has so much history behind it that members of the church are familiar with so artists can paint the temple on temple square in different eras.

Because the temple is so well known for its Christmas lights during the holiday season other artists have tried to capture this time of year by painting in snow and lights.

Because the Salt Lake Temple is rich in history and beauty, it is a great subject for photographs and paintings. These in turn appeal to a large audience because it is an icon well beloved for members of the LDS faith.
