Newlywed Marriage Advice

Marriage is a giant step for any young couple. People say all you need to do is get over the first year hump and you should be fine. I found it is not just 1 year, but a minimum of 2 years, at least it was for me and my wife. There will be many adjustments you will need to overcome for your marriage to blossom to how you have always pictured it would be. I have been married for going on 7 years now and am happier then ever. Keep in mind, my wife and I did go through a lot of problems as newlyweds, due to other reasons that I will cover later. Trust me, being a newlywed, you will have many compromises, but it will all be worthwhile in the future.

If you are reading this, you must be second guessing why you have gotten married in the first place, truth is, everyone does. You start to find you may be becoming like how your parents were, but that is normal and is just the way life goes, you don’t think your parents were always how they were when you were growing up, do you? Bottom line, life goes on and people do change. Just remember, you got married because of love for one another and want to spend the rest of your life together.

I found through my own experiences there are 6 key points a newlywed marriage must know and do to have a successful marriage and stay in love:

1. Communicate With Each Other

Communication is key for any type of relationship. You must be able to talk to each other about anything. Don’t be afraid to open up about anything. Chances are you are starting to find out you did not completely know everything of your partners past, but are slowly learning more and more. Which brings up trust, trusting each other will make or break any type of relationship. You and your partner must keep good communication. Sometimes it is good to even just take a day a month just to sit and chat about what has been going on with work, friends, past relationships, etc….Never keep issues bottled up in you, that will lead to so much more problems in the future.

2. Break You Routine

I found that boredom was a key influence on me questioning my marriage. It is just so easy to fall into this trap as well. Change it up sometimes. My advice for newly weds is do not get too comfortable with each other. This sounds bad, but you do need to keep spice in your marriage, not just the same thing everyday, you will get bored.

3. Wait To Have Children

This is the main key reason why my marriage almost did not make it. Yes, my wife and I did have a child prior. I decided to do the right thing and be a great father. We did have a rocky start, but it all worked to the best. We have no regrets now, but it was a rough road in the beginning. You need to know, with children, comes a lot of responsibility, compromise, and financial burden.

4. Stay Close With Friends

Don’t lose sight of friends and family, after all, most of them were probably with you before your mate. Once a week have nights out away from your better half, you need some space between each other. You can go through life with just bottled up, get out and have some fun with friends.

5. Look Good For One Another

Keep up with the way you look and feel. You don’t want to send a signal to your partner that you just don’t care about yourself anymore. Don’t let yourself go, stay sexy for each other, it will pay off.

6. Save Money

Today’s economy is hard to even save a penny. But, you must, many newlywed marriages go down due to financial stress. Extra money will help for unexpected things you will not need to stress over. Trust me; you will need money saved if you do plan on having any children in your future. We found out the hard way.

Remember, every newlywed marriage will go through problems; it something new and you must learn from it and just never give up when it gets tough.
