Review :
Street Kings features on a Los Angeles police officer, Tom (Keanu Reeves), mourning on his ex-partner, Terrance’s death, gunned down by street mobs that’s robbing a store. He then went off on his own to seek revenge on the two mobsters that killed Terrance, however these actions of his has brought attentions from the internal affair police department.
In this movie, Tom’s unit Chief Officer, Wander (Forest Whitaker) had been very good to him, he helped Tom cover up some mess he made during the lookout for the two mobsters, and advice Tom to stop searching for them. Tom ignored the advice while continuing his lookout along with Detective Diskant (Chris Evans), whom is assigned to follow up this murder case. After a hefty long search, Tom finally realise the reason his unit colleagues trying to stop him from further investigating, and eventually found out the man behind play all the time…
Although Street Kings has many similarities following the Director, David Ayer’s previous movie “Harsh Time” in terms of the city outskirt atmosphere, but this time it shows a more in-depth, extreme, and also darker side of a developed city. The storyline has many major turning point. which is heart-throbbing, and it took a very effective way to showcase the major authouritiy, execution, and bribery elements in a city.
In this movie, Keanu Reeves’ serious act brought up the character Tom being a good cop, however chosen the wrong side of authority. Although Diskant (Evans) didn’t play much of a greater role is Street Kings, but his duel with Reeves is certainly a plus point in this movie.
