You feel a rush of excitement after learning how to make money on AdSense. Through its unique program, you earn commission not on leads or sales, but rather clickthroughs. So, on the surface, it would seem to be the perfect backup for your current affiliate website. Ultimately, if your affiliate campaign fails, you still get a chance to make some money.
Yet, there are many successful affiliates who don’t agree with putting AdSense and affiliate ads together. They believe that both campaigns need to be separate. Why? Well, to them, the making money on AdSense is not really worth your time. True, it pays per click, but the money is still less than what you would get if you actually generated a sale from an affiliate ad.
However, there is a bit of hypocrisy here. The same affiliates that would say don’t have AdSense on your site are the main ones promoting their sites through EzineArticles. And, unlike many other article networks out there, Ezine does NOT give you a portion of their commission. If someone finds their AdSense more enticing, you lose that person as a clickthrough.
But despite all this, thousands of affiliates, (including myself), have been able to acquire decent traffic through EzineArticles. And much of this traffic has resulted in sales. In fact, EzineArticles is so lucrative, there are MANY Internet marketers who have been able to earn a full-time income with their network. And, as more people discover the affiliate world, this number is poised to grow even more.
So, if people can be successful on a network that has no shortage of AdSense ads, why do so many affiliates feel uncomfortable putting AdSense on their own pages? In my opinion, I think they get too skewed by numbers. Granted, getting a $27 commission on whatever widget does seem more appealing than getting 50 cents from AdSense. However, what people don’t realize is that in order to get a sale, you need more clicks in general. And even then you still may not get a conversion. At least you get the ability to make money on AdSense from more passive Internet surfers who are more interested in getting free information than taking real action.
However, there is a way you can have the best of both worlds. What you would do is place a snazzy affiliate banner at the top of your website, (instead of AdSense ads). This would get them at least notice your main item of promotion. From there, include AdSense on the right and left sides of your content. Conclude your layout with a text-based URL pointing the user to the site you promoted in the banner. If your visitor is still interested in the item, they will go on and visit the site. Otherwise, they will click on your ads, giving you a chance to still make money on AdSense.
