Which one? The agony of choice! One thing is for sure they both look great with the beautiful aluminium design. The operating system is the same for both computers which is of course great and one of the reasons so many people are buying mac’s. They designed the operating system based on Unix, the operating system birthed in the sixties.
So the question is which one do you go for? The lightweight and portability of the MacBook air or the superior performance of the MacBook pro. It’s a tough choice, the air does come with Solid state drives as standard now which gives it a noticeable performance boost, when you launch programs.
The pro on the other hand while it comes with ordinary hard drives as standard, can be upgraded to use solid state, but it has other features not found in the MacBook air – more usb ports, firewire, a DVD drive, better screen resolution, graphics processing, and the most important a better processor.
Personally I am a more heavy user and so the pro suits my needs and requirements better. For a start the firewire port, but also the processing power. If you are the type of user that just surfs the web, checks emails and especially travels a lot then the Air is probably the choice for you. Perhaps it’s a good idea to take a trip to an apple store and check out both. There of course many excellent articles online and advice to be found. One things for sure I don’t think you will regret either choices.
Now just recently there has been a new entry or update into the MacBook pro models by Apple. They have updated the whole range with five new models. Two thirteen inch, two fifteen, and one seventeen. Though really it is actually six because you can upgrade the processor of the top level fifteen inch model. The thirteen inch models have got fairly spectacular updates in their processing power moving from Intel core two duos to an i5 and i7 respectively. So now we have a powerhouse and reasonably portable little laptop. Strangely the current MacBook Air has better screen resolution available than the thirteen inch pro models.
So I think this is going to make the choice a little bit more difficult. Anyone who is looking for a bit of a punch in their computer is going to be very tempted by the I5 and i7’s.
