Go On Working And Live For a Hundred Years

After a man retires from job or from business, the main problem he faces is the process of aging. Apart from the problem of loneliness, lack of work, aging appears as a great challenge as well as setback in the life. It comes in the form of disease and degeneration of body. The end of this process appears to be death which is highly dreadful.

In all ages men have tried to win over the process of aging and the fear of death. Ancient Indian saints and sages have given a philosophical as well as practical solution to this problem. The first two hymns of the Isha Upanishad teaches us to be self dependent and to go on working so that man may live for hundred or countless years. Without work man is short lived.

Most of the philosophical literatures have not been truly interpreted. If they are interpreted truly men shall get pure pleasure and joy in life. Longevity shall extend automatically. The two hymns of Isha Upanishad have also not been interpreted truly. Because of my Late Master’s grace I shall interpret them in their purest form. Readers shall find that the meaning is valid for all ages. The fist hymn teaches – whatever living beings inhabit the world here, God resides in all of them. So enjoy what is given by him and don’t seek other’s wealth.

Here it is taught that God lives only in living beings. A living being is the home of God. So don’t search God elsewhere. When a man realises that God is within his Self, he should enjoy what is given by Him only. God has given us this body and life, sense organs to sense and enjoy the outside world; hands and legs to work and earn. By earning and spending upon himself man enjoys the world more. All these happen because God lives within. He should be self dependent and should not depend upon the wealth and earnings of others. One should not depend upon the earnings, donations or alms of others.

In continuation to the first hymn the second hymn teaches – in this way go on working here and desire to live for hundred or countless years. O man! there is no alternative for you than this. when you go on working in this way, nothing sticks to the work i.e. you are are not bound by the work.

So go on working while keeping the policy of self dependence and longevity in the mind. There is no alternative or easy way for man. Work is life idleness is death. By working one dispels aging and fear of death. When one works for self dependence and longevity one’s work remains pure. He is not bound by the work. He remains free and has no attachment for the world. Such a self dependent and free man can live for countless years by beating the fear of death.
