NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is a great persuasion tool to use. NLP involves using a few simple but effective tricks to influence people around you. It is a tool that works because it is a technique that resonates with the subconscious mind. When a person’s subconscious mind has taken notice of you, they are more likely to not only like you, but agree with you and follow through with your suggestions. There are many different ways you can use NLP as a persuasion tool.
Names
Saying a person’s name during conversation is just one way to use NLP as a persuasion tool. When you say a person’s name, you automatically form a connection with that person. In today’s society, it is common for people to be “bad with names.” Don’t make the mistake of letting someone’s name slip out of your mind! Pay attention during introductions and make a conscious effort to remember people’s names. Then, during conversation, use names! This will make the conversation more personal and the person will feel a stronger association with you than they would otherwise.
Mirroring
Mirroring or mimicking your subject is also a great way to use NLP as a persuasion tool. Verbally repeat or recycle some of the words your subject uses. If you notice that your subject has a habit of adding the phrase “You know?” at the end of their sentences, then you can start adding that phrase to the end of your sentences too. You can also try repeating the words a subject says. For instance, if your subject says “It took three hours to get there,” then you can repeat the words “three hours!?” in exasperation. This is a normal thing for people to do in a conversation so it won’t seem out of the ordinary. Mirroring is a great NLP persuasion tool because it makes the subject unconsciously believe that you are similar to them.
Assumptions
Another great technique for NLP as a persuasion tool is to use assumptions. If you are trying to use NLP as a persuasion tool to get a lady to go on a date with you, you would assume she already agreed to go on the date. You would never ask her “Do you want to go to the movies?” Instead, you would say something like “What type of restaurant should we go to on Saturday night?” This assumes that the woman has already agreed to go out with you on Saturday. People are a lot less likely to disagree with things they are already assumed to be doing. NLP is a great persuasion tool. You can use NLP by saying your subject’s name, mirroring their words, or by using assumptions. All of these things affect a person’s subconscious mind, which is the hot place to be when it comes to persuasion.
