Children love to take their toys everywhere and this does not stop at the grocery store, dentist, or day care. Many have a favorite stuffed animal that they drag behind them and will not let go even during sleep. These actions comfort them and help them feel safe and at ease even in the strangest environments. As a baby many of the places that we go are very alien and foreign as it is the first time in their lives that they are seeing them. Once they become kids, these toy collections have usually grown just as fast the children themselves. This causes tremendous amount of clutter, and as parents we have to figure out what to do with it all.
There numerous storage options available on the market and they come in all colors, shapes and sizes. I have seen many that have cartoon, comic, and movie characters on them and some are even handmade. There are ones made out of plastic, fabric, wood and other materials which I was not able to recognize. The simple ones such as toy boxes usually tend to work the best and can be found at a very decent price range which should make it comfortable for anyone’s wallet. The last thing you want to do is buy something that will not fit into your budget, and cause you additional stress or anxiety.
Once organized, your child can be taught where their toys go so that you can de-clutter the environment around the house. You can make up a story and say that the particular toy has a home and it should go there otherwise their family will miss them or they will feel said if they do not go home for a long time. It will also help with easy access to toys as the large boxes make it hard for children to find anything. You might find an entire box turned upside down, because the child’s favorite toy was lying on the bottom of it. Some of the more clever organizational furniture even looks like a toy themselves and is great for you child’s imagination. They can imagine that they are a pirate of a ship while learning how to stay organized. I even seen a spinning carousel-style system, which is made out of multiple bins and rotated for easy toy access.
When teaching organization make sure you label the bins or color code them. This will make it easier to find the room for all of the different types of toys. You might want to keep the Legos together, dolls or action figures together, books in one spot, and it is basically up to your imagination. If you want to group your toys by color than feel free to do so as well. There is not rhyme or reason to this except to keep things in their right place and of off the floor. When storing toys it will keep them cleaner and working longer than if they are just laying around the house. This also prevents many of the child’s belongings from getting lost.
