Remember Who You Are

After caring to dying people for over 17 years now, I have come to the conclusion that people are physically dying and awakening at the same time. We spend a great deal of our time defining ourselves in this work and making our way through it through the titles we obtain along the way such as minister, chaplain, counselor, etc… Much attention is placed on what we are. Such actions lead us away from the place we often will attempt to guide other’s to in their dying after long years of experience in the opposite.

I have been to seminary, seminars, conferences, and lectures upon lectures. Much of the talk is on creating modalities of care and techniques on soliciting a certain response from our patients and families who need to “feel” their grief and loss which they are in our care. It seems to me that people want to be who they are and not coerced into a pattern of thinking and feeling taught to counselors and ministers in order to create a certain response we are looking for inside our own selves.

This kind of care is really in essence training others to think and feel the way we have been trained to get others to in their grief. I believe we would get much future with people if we were to help the “remember who they are.” There are many ways to do this. Here are a few examples.

1. Find out what sacred events are the most meaningful to those you care for in grief.

Sacred Events are moments in time that call out one’s attention from the deepest essence of who they are. You will notice this by how one’s attention is undivided and engaged. You will see insight develop in the words reflected back on this experience in inspirational ways.

Sacred Events give vitality to living. You will see someone literally come alive within themselves and seem to never tire of what they are doing. Sacred Events fill the heart with joy and energy.

2. Find out if religious words matter to someone as they are dying or are sacred expressions more what they want to describe the world around them.

The language of the soul comes out is a person’s words. He or she will voice through words what is meaningful in their lives. This may be their church, or it can be their meditation group. A dying patient will give you clues as to what is important to them by how they describe the world around them and their lives in it.

3. Find out if a person is afraid of dying or afraid of the journey into pain.

Our perceptions of dying can go a long way to help us find a peaceful death or fear it all the way. What has been a dying patient’s experience of pain? Has this person been given reason to be confident in the medical field or fear it? Most fears lie in one’s perception of what he or she believes will happen. The unknown is a major factor in all of this as well. A person who once had control to some degree of their life is being taken away.

4. Find out what is a person’s “lived theology.”

A person’s lived theology is not what he or she has been taught to believe philosophically or religiously. A lived theology is a study of life through introspection. Such ponders leads people to a universal wisdom that has been pasted from generation to generation. They are truth’s obtained through experience and held to be sacred. A person can count on their lived theology because is has came through them and not from them.

The path into the sacred is a journey into who a person is. It is based upon sacred events, the stories shared because of these events, and it develops an inner confidence in what cannot die. In so doing, a lived theology is the result. The Bible talks about such a journey of faith as one “not made with human hands.” It is the path into healing because it is a journey into one’s deepest self.

When a dying patient remembers who they are, a sense of well-being swells up inside of them and radiates out as peace. These are the visits when a Chaplain feels as though he or she received much more out of the visit than they gave to it. It is the give and take of spiritual remembering to the point of no longer having to do anything which includes a Chaplain being a Chaplain and a dying patient being with dying because all roles fade into this kind of presence. It is the presence of Holiness. It is the presence of Eternal Life. It is the presence of peace.

How to Attract Salespeople Who Can Deliver Sales Goals

Salespeople who are experienced at delivering sales goals are always in high demand. Therefore, companies need to master the art of hiring competent salespeople as it provides their company with a greater opportunity for success.

With the use of sales recruiters often a last resort, here are some tips for you on hiring salespeople who will make a difference for your company.

1. How to source sales talent

Referrals can work – Referred salespeople can be good as long as you check them thoroughly and not just rely on someone’s word. Sales managers or sales directors will probably know a lot of candidates who they worked with previously. It is about sifting through who would be suitable for their new company and role. Sales team members can also be productive in finding candidates through their field activities.

Advertise on niche sales job boards – Although you can find candidates on popular job boards like Indeed and Monster, you could also try job boards that specialise in sales talent. More targeted marketing through job boards like Sales Job Board can assist you in marketing your job vacancies to the right applicants.

Build an Employer-Profile on the job board – Salespeople like to know more about your company before hiring. They can search the web for information, but it may not assist them in learning more about your sales organisation. Employer profiles are a great way of communicating the culture of your sales organisation, its successes and what career opportunities exist.

Use Social Media – Make it known you are looking for a new salesperson. Social media is great for sharing links to your sales job board advertisement and getting the word out there. In addition, people can pass along your information easily to potential candidates to evaluate your position and company.

2. Post clear and attractive job advertisements

Job advertisements are not job descriptions! Job postings provide an overview of the job on offer and are designed to attract people for a conversation. If you post the actual job description, you miss the opportunity to have great discussions with candidates that may be suitable with some training.

Your advertisements are aimed at millennials. These people are put off by being over formal, demanding specific skills and micromanagement. However, they can read between the lines, so you need to ensure the tone of your advertisement appeals to your audience’s profile. If you want to excel in attracting quality sales candidates, make sure you talk about career paths and company culture. What training is provided, and what flexibility there is in the role.

3. Ditch the ATS (applicant tracking system)

ATS systems are designed to respond to keywords, and the candidates that make it through are the ones with the best match of keywords in many cases. The problem is that sales candidates do not necessarily fit in a box for a job. ATS is great for standardised skill sets but not good at finding that elusive edge needed for selling.

It is time-consuming but personally checking applicants will make a difference to the quality of your interview line-up. You can grade your candidates using bespoke questions on the job board, and then it’s about reviewing their quality of resume, covering letters, how they communicate, and other factors.

ATS’s have value once you have your candidates shortlisted, and a good job board like Sales Job Board will have an ATS system within it for you to use.

In Summary:

Attracting candidates is about marketing on dedicated sales job boards and selling your company and the role on offer. In today’s market, candidates hold all the cards and do 90% of the selection process. Do they want to work for your company? This is a complete contrast to previous times where your company had a pick of potential candidates and would be flooded with applications.

Now, you may only receive two or three candidates if your job ad is well written. Just those who will be a great fit for the role. If you follow these steps, you should succeed. Good luck with your search!

Men Love Women Who Can Cook Because It Makes Women Attractive

Do men love women who can cook more than those women who can’t? Let’s face it, most men love eating but more than their love for eating they want their women to know how to cook not only for this reason. Men find women who can cook to be more attractive and make them proud to tell their friends and family how good their wife or girlfriend can cook.

It is no longer surprising that most men around the world love women who can cook. What makes men attracted to these type of women is because women who can cook can create a lot things in the kitchen that their stomach have been craving for and still look good doing all these things.

Does this mean that if men love women who can cook they will no longer fall in love with a woman who doesn’t know how? The truth is knowing how to cook is only an advantage if men were always given a choice between two identical women wherein one knows how to cook and the other can’t, they will always go for the one that knows how. Now, in a situation wherein no two identical women exist and a man really loves a woman knowing how to cook does not matter anymore. Women can still do a lot of things around the house that men can appreciate aside from cooking. They can clean and design the house and make it beautiful for all those visitors and friends coming.

Now, for women who doesn’t know how to cook doesn’t mean they can no longer learn how to. There are many culinary schools out there wherein they can enroll or they can try working on recipes that are easily accessible on the net. One of the greatest things both men and women can do is men teaching their women how to cook. They can start from simple grilling with their favorite grilled foods on their newest stainless steel gas grills to the most complex recipes. This makes learning cooking more exciting and fun and will encourage the woman to learn how.

I’ve seen a lot of men asking their friends what is wrong with them when they are married with women who doesn’t know how to cook. This is question goes especially to friends whom they know love eating. Most men who goes for women who doesn’t know how to cook will always reply it’s all about love. In fact, one of my cousins is married to a woman who doesn’t cook and he does all the cooking. Well, his wife does all the cleaning and washing and they have been a happy couple for the last fifteen years.

Another reason men love women who can cook is because they are reminded of their mom who does all the cooking for them when they were small. Another is the saying that the “best way to man’s heart is through his stomach”. Although these are true there is one more simpler reason why men loves women who can cook. For them it means their family will be taken care of. I’ve heard one of my friends say, I can do the house cleaning and washing. It is an easy job to do compared to cooking meals in the kitchen. Washing clothes is as simple as placing all the clothes on the washer and turn those buttons. Switch on the vacuum, run it on the carpet, curtains and floors to get all those dust and that’s it.

You see men are much simpler in nature than women with their minds more focused in providing and protecting for their family. The truth is men believe they were created for this reason alone. It all traces back to history. Cavemen during the early ages go out to hunt for food to provide for their family. Women on the other hand stay at home, take care of the children, do all the cleaning and cooking and when their husband come home they have something to eat.

The simplest reason why men love women who can cook is because they are attracted with the idea that someone will be there to cook what they always crave for and more. But, more than anything else they need to be satiated.

Who Advertises On Satellite Radio?

The clock reads 3:00AM as Jason puts the last stamps on the tiny boxes of pet food samples he is sending out to potential new buyers of is organic dog food. He’s exhausted, yet a feeling of excitement has him wired as he stumbles to a puffy down comforter and collapses.

He knows he needs rest, yet the thought of where his business is heading keeps his mind racing.

Jason is a small business owner who manufactures a boutique dog food line out of his home town in Missouri. It’s a blend that he has fed to his own race dogs for years, and how as put it on the market for national consumption.

Being a small business owner, Jason did not have a massive budget for marketing and getting the word out about his dog food. He knew that if the brand was going to grow it would need to reach a national audience. That is why he chose to advertise on satellite radio.

Jason had listened to various pet related shows on satellite radio for years before he ventured into business for himself. He had no idea what the costs would be to advertise on such shows. When he contacted a satellite radio advertising company he was presently surprised to learn that on some shows the airing of a commercial was as low as $60.

Once he had an affordable air plan in place, Jason wanted to make an offer in his commercial that the listeners couldn’t refuse, so we offered “free dog food”. A free sample of his dog food to anyone who called or visited his website. Not knowing what the demand would be he allotted some extra time on the weekends to put the orders together. Jason was blown away when in the first week of the commercial airing he had a list of more than 300 people who wanted to try the product.

Will all of them be repeat customers? probably not, but a good percentage will likely be. Especially if Jason follows up and delivers the customer service he is proud to stand for and helps educate every new customer on the benefits of the product he is sending out.

Jason is a perfect example of the small or medium-sized business owner who is working on a limited budget yet needs to reach a national audience with a product or service. These are the type of businesses that satellite radio advertising can be perfect for when matched to the correct show while presenting a “can’t refuse” offer to the consumer.

Conservatorships – Who Protects the Conservatee?

In California, a “conservatee” is someone who is mentally incapacitated and unable to make sound financial and/or healthcare decisions. A “conservator” is the person appointed by the court to handle these decisions. But sometimes, a conservator creates an unnecessary conservatorship and financially exploits the elderly conservatee.

How can this happen when court authorization is required and the court is supposed to be monitoring the activities of the conservator?

Here’s an actual case: A conservator files a false accounting with the court, claiming that he personally interviewed, hired and paid for a particular woman to provide caregiving services for the elder (conservatee). An accounting is required to inform the court of all of the conservatee’s assets, income, liabilities, and disbursements every year (or two years).

The truth is that this purported caregiver was never interviewed or hired by the conservator.

The conservatee is not represented by legal counsel, and the law does not impose a duty on any family members to investigate possible inaccuracies contained in the conservator’s accounting to the court. The court does utilize probate “examiners” who review the conservator’s accounting, but the examiner’s role is limited to checking on, for example, whether the required accounting information is set forth in the proper format required of the court.

The examiners are not “investigators”. They do not have the time or resources to telephone every single person (and company) – that the conservator has listed in the accounting – to see if they actually provided caregiving or other services to the conservatee.

Again, the examiners – and ultimately the judge – must rely upon the representations that the conservator has made – under penalty of perjury.

What’s the result? Unfortunately, if no family member or loved one shows up at the hearing and makes an objection, the court will approve the accounting, and this approval usually includes an award to the conservator for his/her requested fees.

The court’s order will then become “final” if no challenge has been made within the prescribed time.

There is one exception, where a challenge to the conservator’s acts may be made after the court’s order has become final. Probate Code Section 2103 allows a later challenge if it can be shown that the conservator obtained the final order by conspiracy, misrepresentation, fraud, or the intentional ommission of a material fact. Gee … That sounds wonderful. There’s an axiom in the law that states: “For every wrong there is a remedy”.

Unfortunately, the appellate courts that have interpreted this statute conclude that the types of fraud must be “extrinsic”. What does that mean?

Hmmm …the “actual” fraud was the conservator’s false representation (contained in his accounting) that a particular woman was hired and provided caregiving services to the conservatee. Remember: the court’s approval of the accounting did become “final” because no one timely challenged it.

The “extrinsic” fraud must be something else – something “outside” the actual fraud. What could that be?

Well, the cases that have interpreted Section 2103 say that it means something like: Telling the conservatee not to attend the court hearing (for fear that the conservatee might object when he learned the truth about the phantom caregivers). Or arranging for the conservatee to be at a restaurant (out of the city) when the court hearing is held. This way, the conservatee would have been intentionally kept in the dark about the actual fraud. This type of deceit is “extrinsic” to the actual fraud.

But where the court has already found that the conservatee is mentally incompetent, and has no attorney, who is the “extrinsic” fraud to be committed against?

The Elder Abuse and Dependent Adult Civil Protection Act (EADACPA) was passed (with numerous amendments) to add additional protections to the vulnerable elderly – not to limit any rights.

Without legal counsel, and without an interested family member present to stand up for the elder, who will protect that conservatee?

Unfortunately, this issue, and the effect that EADACPA may have by possibly superceding Section 2103, has not been raised with the appellate courts to date.

Stay tuned.

Who Needs Magnesium?

Well now, that’s a question isn’t it?

Until the other Sunday I would have said vaguely,

“Oh well, I suppose everyone, to a degree.”

Then that Sunday, I got up, had my breakfast and got ready for church. All the time having the uncomfortable feeling that I was going to keel over. –

What?

Weird, but what worried me, was that I had started feeling a little light-headed as well, dizzy, you know, as though my brain was swimming around inside my head, not knowing what to do with itself. Which I admit, had begun to feel just a little scary.

I think it came to a head though, when I took a walk looking for a church closer to my home, to which I could walk rather than taking the car. But that day, instead of going up the drive, noticing that the car park was full, I decided the service had probably already started so, not wanting to walk into a place where I didn’t know anyone, I headed back home. Instead of going inside, sitting down with a Panadol and a cuppa, I just collected the car keys and drove to my usual church. Also fairly new to me as I had only been living here for a few weeks.

Afterward, I went to lunch at a nearby café with some of my new friends, where I again started to have problems staying upright. On telling one of my companions, she told me of a relative of hers who had experienced something similar. As he is a farmer, it put him in mind of ‘The Staggers’, suffered by cattle when they’re lacking in magnesium. He told his doctor and was advised to try a Magnesium supplement.

Now, until a few weeks earlier, I had been taking a supplement that actually included magnesium, but I had run out of tablets. The main supplement in the tablets was turmeric not magnesium. At the time I just thought, oh well, I’ll get some more next fortnightly shop. Naturally enough, as this was just something I had bought because I thought it could be good for my health, it really wasn’t something I thought important. So I simply forgot next shop, telling myself when I remembered (after I got home of course), no worries, I’ll just get some next shop instead. Needless to say, I forgot then too. ï Š

However, after my Sunday “episode” I made sure to buy some magnesium tablets and began taking them daily. Within a week I seemed to be back to normal, so again, forgot about the matter. Although I did keep taking the tablets.

Until I didn’t, ran out and thought to wait until next shop, well you know the saying, those who don’t remember their history, will keep getting the same results. A few days of nodding off when I sat in a comfortable chair even through the day, then the return of the head swimming issue, sent me off to the chemist pretty darn quick.

But – it also sent me to the computer and my second favourite occupation, in depth research. I quickly found that people may not actually need a magnesium supplement if they eat some servings of nuts, seeds, whole grains, beans, leafy veg, milk, yoghurt and fortified foods, which are all good sources of this item. Even water (tap, mineral, bottled) can provide it. Though unfortunately, many of us do not take all the foods that will help us, do we?

And for me the question that follows, is – WHY do we need it? –

Did you know that the Mayo Clinic reported that Magnesium supports muscle, nerve function and energy production, synthesises proteins, DNA and RNA. Like some antibiotics and Osteoporosis drugs. As well, antioxidant glutathione contributes to structural bone development and helps increase calcium absorption.

Also, that just 1 ounce of raw almonds contain 20% of your daily magnesium requirement. And who doesn’t like almonds? OK. I know there are some who don’t and even some who are allergic, but for many of us YUM.

Magnesium plays a role too, in our metabolism, cells use magnesium to transport calcium and potassium ions across the cell walls.

On the other hand, low levels of magnesium have been linked to Osteoporosis, anxiety, depression among other conditions, as well as ADHD.

Magnesium is sometimes recommended as a supplement to help treat people with high blood pressure, some chronic conditions, Diabetes, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Heavy drinking and Alcoholism have been shown to sometimes result in chronically low magnesium levels, as do conditions such as Crohn’s, and Celiac disease. Older adults (like me ï Š) can be prone to having lower levels than young adults. Partly because the gut often becomes less efficient at absorbing magnesium while our kidneys can become less efficient at retaining magnesium. Plus, Type 2 Diabetes can cause the kidneys to excrete too much magnesium leading, (surprise, surprise) to a magnesium deficit.

Several long term studies have found a correlation between high magnesium levels and a lower risk of heart disease, sudden cardiac death and Ischemic heart disease, (National Institute of Health Office of Dietary Supplements). This also helps to prevent strokes. An analysis of 7 studies, including one of more than 200,000 people, found that an extra 100mls of magnesium daily, reduced stroke risk by 8% – (February 2012 review in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition). Very positive findings.

Side effects of the supplement can include

Nausea, cramps and diarrhea

Can interact with certain medicines, diuretics, heart medicines or antibiotics.

Patients with Diabetes, intestinal disease, heart disease or kidney disease should check with their doctor before commencing a course of treatment.

Overdose signs can include nausea, diarrhea, low blood pressure, muscle weakness and fatigue.

As with many medical remedies, very high doses can have dire effects.

There was so much more information revealed through my research, but all things considered, including the disappearance of the original symptoms I experienced from before I began taking my magnesium supplements, I truly believe, that keeping watch on one’s health after beginning a course of magnesium, providing one takes note of any adverse effects, is a good way of increasing the magnesium in the body and aiding health and fitness.

So, to my original question – Who Needs Magnesium? –

I would have to say – Probably everyone.

The FE and the PE – Who Takes Them?

Engineers
There’s good news, and there’s bad news. The good news is that some engineers don’t need to take the tests — the bad news is that the rest do. The majority of FE and PE exam takers are civil engineers, who regularly work with public systems and construction documents. Electrical engineers who design power systems and mechanical engineers who design HVAC systems are some of the other engineers will also most likely need a P.E. license. Generally speaking, engineers whose work will in some way affect public safety need to concern themselves with the exams; civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers are the primary takers of the FE and PE exams. An example of an engineer who may not need certification would be an electrical engineer who design computer chips or low-power embedded systems.

Lawyers
Surprise! Those who pursue a legal career of any discipline are already being treated to a veritable banquet of exam cuisine. But those special few who want to practice in the lucrative, in-demand field of patent law without a technical degree might find themselves with an additional serving on their plates. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has certain technical requirements for anyone who wants to take the registration exam for patent law. Those without a technical degree have a couple options:

  1. Accumulate a certain number of university credit hours in an appropriate technical discipline, or
  2. Pass the FE exam

Those who have already graduated and don’t have the time or money to go back to school really have no choice but to pass the FE exam (or else tragically abandon their childhood dreams of an adventure-filled life in patent law).

More Engineers

Of course, even if you don’t need to be certified, you can certainly still become a Professional Engineer for the fun of it. And by fun I mean usefulness. Even if a P.E. is not required, those who receive a license can enjoy a couple other benefits.

Consulting
Engineers who choose to pursue a consulting career and aren’t necessarily represented by a professional engineering company will have stronger credentials and appear more knowledgeable and professional. In addition, engineers who leave the industry to do independent consulting will have to take the FE/PE in order to advertise themselves as “professional” or “licensed” engineers.

Job Stability
In today’s fast-paced, ever-changing world, the boogeyman of job instability could leap out of the closet at any time. Those who wield a P.E. will have something with which to fight it off. Even if you don’t need a P.E. for your current job, if something happens (knock on wood), and you find yourself looking for a new job, having a P.E. could open certain doors that might be closed otherwise. Already having a license also means one less thing to think about when transitioning between jobs — convenient!

Expert Witnessing and Investigating
Licensed P.E.s can be called upon to provide professional opinions on various engineering problems, such as causes of structural failure or electrical fires. Solve crimes; save the world!

To register for the exams, or for more information about the tests, visit the NCEES website.

Younger Writers VS Older Writers with More Wisdom – Who is Better?

The question comes up every so often with writers as to who is the better author? Who has more wisdom? Who writes more words per day, per week and whose words carry the great depth of understanding, wisdom or knowledge? One might say that the older writer is far superior in such regard, but are they really? You see as a younger writer, I just have a hard time buying into such logic.

Indeed, although I would not of course need any of the those Viagra Pills to perform or do the higher mathematics, I duly note the older gentleman’s experiences and expertise as well and merely ask, let’s examine the score board as you say: Stats, real world knowledge, success, numbers, etc.

For the writing, it seems I am new at this only been writing for two-years, but still in that two-years I have done what would take another 10, which is about the ratio of my other endeavors, perhaps maybe even a bigger gap now that I think about it. I average between 4,000 and 16,800 words per day.

So my contention is that not every young man is young, dumb and full of piss and vinegar to no avail, there are standouts who rise to the occasion and it is obvious who they are, as they stand out above the crowds, there are always anomalies in society and social groupings.

An older gentleman is on one side of the spectrum, I on another, and thus I think that as long as they produce good content, essays, books and articles they should be good enough to stand on their own accord without the AARP lobby helping them. Because, quite frankly an older and more experienced writer ought to be able to handle themselves on the keyboard or in the writing profession and stand on their accomplishments.

Who Stole The American Dream? – A Book Review

When Burke Hedges wrote the book ” Who Stole The American Dream” he had no way of knowing at that time what was going to come in the economy and job market in America today. Just how does what he said in the early 1990’s help us almost 20 years later. The jobless rate is high, higher than it has been in years, there really does not seem to be job security maybe even less than what he stated in the book at the time of printing. How big of role should network marketing play in today’s world and how can you get involved?

What is the American Dream? Is one of the first questions asked in the book. Maybe it is a little different for everyone but a common thread seems to be financial freedom, to be able to do what you want when you want. The sad truth is that at age 65 nearly 95% of all people are dead, dead broke, still working, or dependent on family, church, or state. That means only 5% are financially independent upon retirement. What happened to the American Dream?

Network Marketing is a term that almost everyone has heard but maybe it has been linked to other terms like pyramid scheme, Ponzi scheme, multi-level pyramid could all be things stated about the network marketing industry. Did you know that the multi-level pyramid it a natural structure and every oragnization that distributes goods and services is a pyramid shape with multi-levels? According to the book American businesses, government, education, and even churches are pyramids. Pyramids like anything can be good or bad. There are both legal and illegal pyramids and what makes it a scheme is when the value stops flowing down. Carlo “Charles” Ponzi created the largest money taking scheme making a name for himself when ever a bi rip-off takes place it is now called a Ponzi Scheme. The book goes on to state the largest pyramid scheme in the world is legal and it was created by the U.S. government and is called Social Security.

Burke goes on to explain how charities and education are helping to steal the American Dream. Big charities are non-profit for you and me but huge profits for the hypocrites that run them. Just when you though that you were helping kids or cancer research you have now found out that the directors have taken hundreds of thousands for themselves and added perks like luxury vacations with your donations. Not just a pyramid scheme but illegal, unethical, and immoral.

Next he gets into education. Colleges and universities are big business and should be judged by their production. About 90% of all graduates are not working in the field that they went to school for in the first place. If not for endowments these institutions would not survive. If they were forced to operate like a real business they would go bankrupt in a year. What other options are there?

Many people choose to open their own small business to try and reach the American Dream. The fact is that 90 percent of all conventional small businesses failing the first 5 years and of the ten percent that make it past that only a few make it past ten years. It is harder and harder for small businesses to be successful in the market today. Franchising is another option but you have to have such a substantial amount of money to buy one then add the real estate and equipment. The profit in this type of enterprise is not that great for the amount of risk and headache involved. Most who own a franchise eventually like to have more that one to actually make a decent profit. These options do not sound like the picture of the American Dream either. There must be a choice left for the average American to reach their dream. There is and that is what we are going to talk about next.

Network Marketing is what the author believes to be the best option for anyone to build their American Dream. As the world changed to did our shopping habits and options. From the first general store,to the 5 &10 department stores,to shopping centers and malls, to franchises, to network marketing. It is all about the distribution and how the network marketing model is saving the companies money. The networking model saves the company by eliminating in house sales force and the huge amounts spent on advertising. One of the best things is that it is a cash business they only pay the distributor after the sale has been made which is so important and is why the parent company can pay the successful home based business owner such high commissions.

There are people from all walks of life in the network marketing field and companies the sell almost anything you can get in a store. Anyone who is willing to build a business and wants to get paid for what they do should take part in network marketing.Th 80-20 rule takes place in just about everything meaning 20 percent of the people do 80 percent of the work. Are you ready to be part of the 20 percent? Burke goes on to explain exactly how the networking is structured and how our government tries to block anyone from finding out how much people really are making as networkers. Is this to keep us from reaching the American Dream? The book goes on to talk about building a multi-level business.

Since this book has been published much has changed in the MLM field. Many companies offer web sites to help to build a business and social networking has exploded the networking industry. How has that changed things in the last 20 years? You are no longer limited to the few people that you personally know. The sky is the limit when it comes to marketing on the internet. Find out how you can become part of the network marketing industry, build your business online with the latest techniques and build your American Dream. Who Will Become Wealthy in the Information Age?

As you know, we’re now well and truly in the
Information Age. It began about 10 years ago. In fact,
many economists say it began in 1989, with the Fall of
the Berlin Wall (and the start of the World Wide Web).

To understand who will become wealthy in the
Information Age, first we need to understand how the
Information Age differs from the Industrial Age (born
about 1860, died about 1989).

In fact, let’s get a complete overview and go back to
the Agrarian Age.

In the Agrarian Age, society was basically divided
into two classes: the landowners and the people who
worked on the land (the serfs). If you were a serf,
there wasn’t much you could do about it:
land-ownership passed down through families and you
were stuck with the status you were born into.

When the Industrial Age arrived, everything changed:
it was no longer agriculture that generated most of
the wealth, but manufacturing. Suddenly, land was no
longer the key to wealth. A factory occupied far less
land than a sheep farm or a wheat farm.

With the Industrial Age came a new kind of wealthy
person: the self-made businessman. Wealth no longer
depended on land-ownership and the family you were
born into. Business acumen and factories were creating
a new class of wealthy person. But it still required
enormous capital to build a factory and start a
business.

Then came the World Wide Web (in about 1989) and
globalization. Suddenly, everything changed again.

Factories (or real estate) were no longer necessary to
run a business. Anyone with a website could start a
business. The barriers to wealth that existed in the
Agrarian Age and the Industrial Age were completely
gone. People who could never have dreamed of owning
their own business were making millions from their
kitchen table.

Of course, the Information Revolution didn’t begin
in 1989.

It began in 1444 when Gutenberg invented the printing
press in Mainz, Germany.

But the printing press (newspapers, magazines,
paperbacks) belonged to the Industrial Age, not the
Information Age.

The printing press is a ‘one-to-many’ technology. The
Internet is a ‘many-to-many’ technology. And that was
what changed in 1989.

The Industrial Age was about centralization and
control. The Information Age is about
de-centralization and no control. No government and no
media magnate controls the Internet. This is the
crucial thing to understand about the Information Age.

As we moved from the Agrarian Age through the
Industrial Age to the Information Age, there’s been a
steady collapse of the barriers that kept one section of
society wealthy and the other section poor.

In the Information Age, literally anyone can become
wealthy.

So now that we have a clearer picture of how the
Information Age differs from the Industrial Age, let’s
ask that question again: ‘Who will become wealthy in
the Information Age?’:

(1) People Who are Self-Taught

To explain this better, let’s go back to the Agrarian
Age and the Industrial Age, and the Transmission of
Skills.

In the Agrarian Age, skills were passed on from father
to son. If you wanted to learn how to be a blacksmith
you had to be a blacksmith’s son. If you wanted to
learn to be a stone-mason, you had to be the son of a
stone-mason.

With the coming of the Industrial Age, all this
changed. You could go to University and learn whatever
skills you wanted. Knowledge was freely available.

But in the Information Age, the Transmission of Skills
is changing once again.

The skills necessary to succeed in the Information Age
are not being learnt from our parents (as in the
Agrarian Age), nor are they being learnt in schools
and colleges (as in the Industrial Age). Children are
teaching their parents computer skills. And many of
the entrepreneurs who start hi-tech Internet companies
have never been to college.

The millionaires (and billionaires) of tomorrow
probably won’t have a college education. They will be
high-school drop-outs, self-taught people.

(2) People with New Ideas.

Again, it’s the people who are able to think outside
of the existing structures who will become wealthy in
the Information Age. Often, it’s just a Simple Idea
that launches people to success in the Information
Age.

Take Sabhir Bhatia, for example – the man who invented
Hotmail. Bhatia was a computer engineer working in
Silicon Valley. He had no previous business
experience, whatsoever.

But one day, while he was driving back from work, a
friend called him on his cell phone and said that he
had an idea: What about starting a free, web-based
email service? Bhatia knew this was the idea he’d been
waiting for. He told his friend to hang up immediately
and ring him at home on a secure line.

Three years later he sold Hotmail to Microsoft for
$400 million.

(3) Writers

The third group who will become wealthy in the
Information Age are Writers.

In the Industrial Age, Writers depended on large
publishing Houses to get published (remember that the
printing press is an Industrial Age technology – it is
centralized and controlled). And the Publishing Houses
took the lion’s share of the profits.

In the Information Age, Writers are doing their own
publishing – and keeping most of the profits
themselves. Indeed, Writers are flourishing on the
Web – mainly through eBooks and Ezine Articles.
But even if you don’t write eBooks or Ezine Articles,
if you own a website, you are a Writer.

Why?

Because the Internet is basically a written medium. It
favors writers, people who are able to communicate
effectively through the written word. Remember, it’s
not the graphics on your website that sell, it’s the
words you use.

In the Information Age, we’re all Writers!
