White Men are the oppressors we are told by Social Justice Warriors – but as a white male, I am not out to oppress anyone. Now if you want to play victim and use that as an excuse – go for it – doesn’t bother me much – but if you want to accuse me of something that is false, I am going to call you out on it. Hence, this here article – oh, and keep reading because, I’ve been listening to the Social Justice Warrior BS for long enough – and to me it’s all nonsense and just an excuse for not succeeding.

Who said life was supposed to be easy, it wasn’t for me, not in sports, business, politics or in my non-profit endeavors, heck back when I was in school, that wasn’t easy either, and no one was giving away trophies, certificates or free Pop Tarts and Kool-Aide for mere participation. I suppose now they want free $5.95 Frappachinos with Carmel Drizzle on top.

We have a serious problem brewing in our society and it is getting out of control, we now have college and university professors lecturing on equality, sustainability, social justice, racism and yes, White Privilege. These same professors say that President Donald Trump is a rich white man and an example of the problems in America, I guess this time around they were interested in having a white woman president, since the last Black Male President fell short, even as his supporters and academic socialist apologetics attempted to secure his legacy.

If the professors in our colleges and universities are 90-95% democrat and continue to espouse leftist and socialist political viewpoints, then they are politically bias and working for the Democrat Party. Thus, they are akin to a Super PAC and therefore, shouldn’t receive any public funding, nor should the taxpayer’s bailout the delinquent student loans – 47% currently are over 90-days in default, they are delinquent and in the finance sector should be sent to collection and students should be brought to court. These loans should not be bailed out by you and I, the citizens and taxpayers.

Why should we be paying for these professors? The Democrat Party spent nearly $2 Billion between the DNC, Clinton Campaign, George Soros, and their Super PACs – so why not pay all the professors to continue brain-washing college students to vote for Democrats – why are we the taxpayer’s subsidizing their cushy jobs, incredible benefits and pensions, and now we are expected to bailout the student college tuition loan crisis? I just don’t see why we should?

Tuber Magnatum – Italian White Truffle

The Italian white truffle (Tuber magnatum) is found primarily below 600 meters ASL in Northern Italy and up to 900 meters ASL in Central Italy. It is also found in small areas of south-eastern France, in Istria, Croatia, and the Ticino district of Switzerland.

The mean January temperatures in these areas range from -2 to 8°C and mean July temperatures from 18 to 26°C. The mean annual precipitation varies from 500 to 2000 mm, which is spread more or less evenly throughout the year. Though in summer, this rain is usually as thunderstorms.

In Italy, this truffle is found in woods with more or less closed canopies, also in areas with relatively sparse vegetation along stream beds. Host trees include the hazelnut (Corylus avellana), willows (Salix spp.), hop hornbeam (Ostrya carpinifolia), Italian alder (Alnus cordata), poplars and aspens (Populus spp.) and oaks (Quercus spp.). The most productive hosts are poplars and willows.

The Italian truffle is harvested from mid August until the end of December. In August and early September, the fruiting truffles are usually severely infested by insect larvae such as Suillia univittata.

Unlike the black truffle, the Italian truffle is used either uncooked or added to dishes after cooking. The white truffle is used as flavouring for salads or pasta, to retain its delicate and volatile aroma. As the black truffle is usually used in cooked dishes and is harvested between November and March, there is little competition in the marketplace between the two types of truffles.

Tuber magnatum (Italian white truffle) is the most expensive of the truffles. It is considered to be the queen of all truffles while the black truffle is considered king in gastronomic circles.

Large Italian white truffles in excess of 250 gr. and up to 2 kg. usually demand a relatively higher price. The harvesters receive about 60% of the wholesale price. In Italy, to avoid paying taxes on the truffle sales (paid by the seller), as much as half of the crop is sold on the black market.

The Italian white truffle has not yet been cultivated ( artificially inoculated ) on to any host tree yet. So supplies are limited to what can be harvested from natural areas. Even thou in the year 2010, there where reports saying that some scientists were close to successfully inoculating host trees with the Italian white truffle spore or mycelium. So lets hope that this mystery can be finally solved and plant more Italian truffle trees.

Italian white truffles are commercially canned and bottled but the aroma changes in this process. When the truffle is preserved, they are quite inferior to the fresh truffle. Cans and bottles of Italian white truffle may also contain other morphologically similar species such as Tuber dryophilum, Tuber borchii (bianchetto) or Tuber maculatum. Italian white truffle oil is widely sold in upscale delicatessens. Sadly, most of these truffle flavoured olive oils have never seen a truffle. The truffle aroma is usually being derived from added chemicals. Despite the high demand and the high prices prices, the production of the Italian white truffle, like the black truffle, has declined over the past 100 years.

The Black Truffle

A subconscious method that is valuable within a quit smoking session involves a journey to a big white castle. The journey starts by having the client imagine they are in a lush green field and that my voice will be with them as they travel.

You walk across the field until you enter a forest; you feel the leaves and pebbles under your feet. You notice the texture of the bark on the trees and enjoy the dappled light as it filters through the canopy.

Fortunately you have all kinds of cleaning equipment so you get to work, and soon the sun is shining through the sparkling windows onto the pristine marble walls and the rejuvenated timber floors.

You feel proud of your efforts to return the castle to its former glory, so you turn to leave back through the curved wooden doors and across the drawbridge. You turn back one last time to admire the castle and you notice a flag of victory fluttering on the breeze on the flagpole.

And an eagle soars majestically on the thermals high above the castle walls.

You feel a deep sense of satisfaction as you walk back into the forest. Moving easily along the path you breathe the cool fresh air deeply and your lungs expand more than they have in years.

After a time you find yourself once again in the lush green field. The gentle warmth of the sun on your face, a cool breeze on your neck and a feeling that you have been set free from the grip of a fierce beast, and that your body is already beginning to heal.

As you stand comfortably and confidently you sense that you are rewriting your future and restoring the health that was being slowly etched away by your old ways.

As this tale concludes I wonder what it may mean to you.

Over the James river and through the woods of Dinwiddie County to grandmother’s house we went for the holidays. The pecan pie alone was well worth the trip!

My grandmother, “Meme”, found her pecan pie recipe printed in The Progress-Index on Wednesday February 26, 1964 and was said to be “Mrs. Landon B. Johnson’s Favorite Pie” (typo and all). The recipe is actually the masterpiece of Zephyr Wright, the Johnson family’s White House cook.

White House Pecan Pie

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter

1 cup sugar

1 cup dark corn syrup

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

3 eggs

2 cups coarsely chopped pecans

Fluted unbaked pastry shell in a 9-inch pie pan or plate

Allow the butter to stand in a covered medium mixing bowl at room temperature until it is extremely soft. Add sugar, corn syrup, salt and vanilla; with a sturdy hand rotary beater or mixing spoon, beat until thoroughly blended. Add eggs and beat gently just until blended. Fold in the pecans. Pour into pastry shell. Bake in a moderate (375 degrees) oven on the rack directly below the center rack until top is toasted brown and filling is set in center when pie is gently shaken – about 40 to 50 minutes.

Pastry edge should be browned and the bottom pastry a pale gold. If top of pie gets very dark toward end of baking time, place a tent of foil over it. Cool on wire rack. If desired, serve with unsweetened whipped cream.

I make this pie every Thanksgiving and Christmas because it’s absolutely delicious and brings back memories of holidays spent at Meme’s Farm in Ford, VA.

Coincidently the Eight Virtues also link closely with the teachings of Buddhism in its Right Eightfold Paths. The 8 Virtues follow the rank of importance below:

1] Filial Piety – Filial piety is the most important virtue among the eight virtues and it is the origin of all good deeds. Without filial piety, it is like a tree without its root, or the water without an origin. Charity begins at home and this is true. If a person cannot be good to his parents, then most likely all other good things done by him are not real or have ulterior motives. Devotees of Tao are always asked whether they have the filial heart of “Zeng-Zi” (Confucius’s disciple, renowned for his filial piety. Zeng-Zi is one of the four Confucian Saints and the author of the Confucian classic Da-Xue ‘The Great Learning’ around 500 BC).

2] Brotherhood – It is the kind of care and concern found among siblings. They are brought up under the same roof and have gone through many experiences together, be it hardship or happiness. Hence, siblings are closely related just like our hands and legs. The elder being generous and lenient, the younger being enduring, then there will be brotherly love and the family will then be harmonious and prosperous.

3] Loyalty – When we perform any task, we must be truthful and sincere. The task must be rational and legal. We must give our best to complete the task and be impartial. There should be no false declaration when we are reporting or speaking. By being righteous, we are not afraid to let people see what we are doing. We do not do anything discreditable so as to be upright and honorable. We are said to be loyal when we are able to face God or Deities, country and society, parents and spouse with a guiltless conscience.

4] Trust – The word “trust” means having faith in another person’s words or character. The success or failure of a business or career is also based on trust. There is a saying, “A word once spoken cannot be taken back.” This means that what is said cannot be unsaid. If we want to gain trust and respect, then we must keep our promise to others and be earnest in our performance of duties. There must also be unity between word and action. With these, trust will then prevail.

5] Etiquette – It is the display of refined and courteous mannerism. If we are impolite, we are degrading ourselves and also lose the respect from others. Our status and personality can be expressed through politeness. He who is polite will more likely be modest and upright, being courteous to the elders and benevolent to the younger. If we treat others politely, others will treat us likewise. We shall not do anything that will offend public decency. Confucius said, “See no evil, hear no evil, say no evil and do no evil.” By observing these Four Don’ts, etiquette will prevail. Without it, this world will be in total disorder. Therefore, we must be mindful in our conduct and at the same time, show respect and love for others. In this way we will have a sound and healthy character.

6] Righteousness – It is the act of being just and upright. In anything we do, our actions must always be in accordance with our conscience. Although there are temptations around us, we must stand firm by our principles. Anything desired must be obtained through the right course. If we obtain wealth unscrupulously by harming others to benefit ourselves, then retribution will come to us sooner or later. Thus a superior man does not crave for ill-gotten wealth, but instead he is generous in helping needy people and relieving distressed. He will not only be respected by the people, but also bring honor to his ancestors and set good example for his descendants.

7] Integrity – It means to be pure and upright in our actions. A person with integrity does not have selfish desires and evil thoughts. He does not do things that are against his conscience. He is honest with friends and is a responsible person. When dealing with money, he is conscientious and meticulous. He does not indulge in sensual pleasures and is an upright gentleman. Thus, to uphold integrity, we need to exercise greater self discipline.

8] Shamefulness – Everybody has a sense of shamefulness. A person who understands shamefulness will be honest and just in his undertakings. If a person does not know about shamefulness, most likely he may not have an upright mind and actions. We have to be mindful in our speech, action and thoughts so as to refrain ourselves from depravity. We should avoid doing things that may arouse suspicion, thus creating disgrace and embarrassment and ultimately ruin the reputation of the family.

Our thoughts are the seed of good or bad fortune; we must then rectify them according to the Eight Virtues if they are wrong. If we lose our humanity, we are actually no better than animals. Filial piety and brotherhood are the basis of humanity and cultivators must first practise them. If we are filial and obedient, deities and people around will respect us. God and Saints will be happy when the other virtues are practiced and there will be no evil and crimes.

On the first virtue, my Heavenly Teacher JiGong said, “When a mother raises a son or a daughter, she would never consider what the child can give her in the future before she offers her care. Since she has given birth to him, she only knows of loving him and caring for him. She also understands clearly that he may disappoint her when he grows up, but she still misses him and takes care of him, even to the extent of taking on his guilt and dying for him. Dying for him without resentment and without regret – this is the heart of a mother, and this is exactly the heart of Buddha.”

If you do not follow the proper step, you will just end up ruining the board itself. First you have to do in removing the tape is you have to remove it slowly with a pair of tweezers. This is to lessen the sticky part that will be left on the white board. After that, wipe the surface with a dry clean cloth or a soft tidy towel. You have to clean the writing area first so that the next steps will not leave a mess.

Now, after cleaning the white board, you can now apply the cooking spray on the areas where there are sticky part of the tapes are left. The cooking spray is a type of oil that is used to lubricate the tapes from the white boards. After applying the cooking spray, just leave it for a few minutes, usually one to two minutes. This is to let the lubricant adapt itself to the tape so that it can be easily removed. After leaving it for a few minutes, you can now wipe the sticky part away from the surface by using a cloth or towel soaked on warm water.

White boards also need maintenance. You have to keep it clean to make it more useful and functional. If there are cases like you have to post a printed announcement on the white board and you are not good in cleaning the tapes off of it, then it would be better if you use a good quality tape that does not leave a sticky mark.
