Covid 19 – What Should I Do?

It has been over a year since the Covid19 Pandemic struck the world. What should you do now? First, I am not a Doctor, I do not even have a background in the medical field. My background is in the security and lock business. I do have a lot of common sense and I can separate the hype from reality.

Unfortunately, it was an election year when this virus hit. That made it political. Both parties should be ashamed of themselves. I honestly believe that if politics were not involved less people would have died. Decisions were made based on politics not what was the best for the American people. That continues today.

The news outlets have also turned political. I remember a time that when you tuned into the news you felt that you were getting the truth with no bias. Today that is also very different, and that difference has also cost American lives. The news media is very quick to report anything without doing their own research. This causes them to give the wrong information to people, again costing lives.

Fortunately, people have caught on to this and now get their news form multiple sources that they trust. Therefore, newspapers are closing down, and people are “cutting the cord” going to what they want to watch by streaming.

So, what should you do Now? Well, it seems that infections, hospitalization, and deaths are going down. The consensus from the Medical Experts is that by fall we should be back to normal, whatever that is. You should do what seems right to you. Use your common sense. Get your news from as many different sources as you can.

In my opinion everyone should get the vaccine. I realize that there has been some resistance from some people. I think that this resistance is age related. Older people over 60 were quick to get the vaccine when offered, after all they were the age group that was dying. The younger generations not so much.

Think of it this way over 95% of every American as been vaccinated against Polio, measles, mumps, and other childhood diseases. How many Children and Babies would have died if their parents refused to get them vaccinated.

As adults getting a vaccine is your choice, do your research, make sure you research multiple reputable sources. Look for sources that DO NOT agree with your position, so you can get a clear picture of the other side. Then make the decision that is best for you.

Cervical Cancer Prevention Measures You Need to Take

The prevention of any illness can be primary or secondary. The previous involves taking action on the determinants of the illness to prevent it from occurring. The second involves the early detection of disease, followed by acceptable interventions to stop its progression.

there has been substantial media PR about the prevention of cervical cancer during the past half a year. Almost all of it has focused on the human papilloma pathogen ( HPV ) vaccine, which has been called a cervical cancer vaccine, though there isn’t any such vaccine available anywhere in the world.

Cervical smears have led to a steady decline in the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer in developed countries which have introduced population wide screening programmes.

Yet cervical smears have scarcely been discussed in the media target cervical cancer prevention. This is despite the indisputable fact that only 43% of Malaysian women have ever had a cervical smear in their lives ( national Health and Morbidity Survey 2006 ) although cervical cancer is the second most typical cancer in women ( countrywide Cancer Registry 2003 ). There is an overuse of cervical screening by ladies who are younger and/or who are at low risk.

The beginning of cervical cancer begins with changes in the squamocolumnar junction of the cervix where the flat squamous epithelium of the exocervix meets the columnar epithelium of the endocervix. The proportion of the cell nucleus to the cell size is increased in the epithelium in the pre-cancer phase of the illness.

There is a correlation between the induction of these changes and HPV infection. The pre-cancer changes are called cervical intraepithelial neoplasia ( CIN ). CIN is graded as mild ( CIN 1 ), moderate ( CIN two ) or harsh ( CIN 3 ). The CIN moves on from mild to moderate to dreadful illness and then invasive cancer over seven to twenty years. There are customarily no symptoms during this progression, which can be perceived by cervical smears.

Cervical cancer has a pre-cancerous phase lasting about 7 to 20 years before the standard cells change to cancer cells. As the danger factors of cervical cancer are known, behavioral interventions can be brought to prevent its development.

Regular pelvic exams and cervical smears would detect most pre-cancerous changes in the cervix. With treatment, the development of aggressive cancer would be stopped. Even if there’s aggressive cancer present, it is going to be perceived at an early, curable stage.

The cervical smear is a screening test that uncovers pre-cancerous cells. This enables doctors to refer those with unnatural changes in the cervix for further inquiry and treatment. It must be emphasized that the cervical smear isn’t a diagnostic test.

It involves taking a small sample of cells from the cervix using a brush or spatula. The cells are placed on a glass slide or into a container and sent to the lab for minute examination.

Cervical smears are recommended for all women, although if the woman hasn’t had sex. The likelihood of cervical cancer in such girls is thought to be low, but it can still occur. Regular pelvic exams and Pap smears should be done once sexual activity starts. The frequency would rely on the findings and the woman’s risk profile.

The use of cervical smears in widespread population screening in many developed nations has ended in a marked decrease in the incidence of cervical cancer. It’s critical that patients and/or their mom and pop are informed the vaccines provide cover against certain HPV types and not cervical cancer. There are a couple of vaccines available. One vaccine acts against 4 HPV types and the other against 2. They prevent development of the HPV infection. As HPV infection is a big risk allow for the development of cervical pre-cancer, vaccination would forestall some of its development.

Behavioral interventions have an important role to play and they are comparatively economical. Yet they don’t seem to be given the same press as that of HPV vaccines. The misconception of many patients and/or their mom and pop that HPV vaccines are the wizardry bullets to get shot of cervical cancer needs to be addressed by health messages that reflect the actuality of cervical cancer prevention.

In short, there needs to be bigger stress by policy makers and healthcare execs on the proven systems of cervical smears and behavioral interventions if there is to be any important impact on reducing the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer.

The Current Phase Of This Pandemic: 5 Keys

With, over 600,000 deaths, and millions of cases, from this horrific pandemic, wouldn’t it make sense (at least, common sense), for all of us to cooperate with the public health efforts of the scientists and experts, in the area? It never made sense to me, when, some resisted, wearing a mask, making claims, such as it restricted their freedoms/ rights, etc! From an ethical perspective, shouldn’t the greater good, especially, related to overcoming this virus, and its impacts, be the most – desirable, course of action. Besides the obvious, health impacts, this has had, an overall, negative impact, on most areas, of our lives, limiting us, and harming our individual, economic situation! Instead of, celebrating, the introduction of remarkably, successful, safe vaccinations, which, if nearly – everyone, took advantage of, a significant number of Americans, have, thus far, refused to take! Since, the roll – out of these vaccines, predominantly, those, who refuse to be vaccinated, have been, 97% of the serious cases (requiring, hospitalization, or worse). With, that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, 5 keys to why, we are currently, where, we are.

1. Vaccinated, versus unvaccinated: Why should getting meaningful treatment, and getting the vaccine, be a partisan, political issue/ decision? Yet, when we look at a map, of where vaccinations, have the lowest numbers, it almost, consistently, coincides, with the election map, of areas of so – called, red, and blue area! Yesterday, the Governor of New Jersey, stated, in that state, 99.2% of the cases, were unvaccinated, and, national figures, are similar (approximately, 97%).

2. Should we still, wear masks?: The largest percentage of those, who resisted, wearing masks, are the same, as those, refusing vaccinations! Since, children, under 12, and some, extremely – at – risk, individuals, haven’t been (can’t get) vaccinated, those individuals, who make a decision to refuse, are, not, only, risking their own health, but the well – being, of others. Since, many of the variants, spread more quickly, than the original virus, there may be scenarios, where it is, still wise, to wear masks, such as in crowded, indoor situations, schools (especially, with younger children), etc.

3. Variants, such as Delta: Variants of the virus, such as the Delta Variant, are becoming, prevalent! It seems, the vaccinations, largely – protect, against these, especially, against the most serious cases! Therefore, wouldn’t it make sense, for the common good, to prevail?

4. Overall public health/ greater good: Historically, there have been precedents, regarding, requiring most, to get some vaccine, such as polio treatments, measles, mumps, etc! In order for a child, to be registered, in most schools, he must show proof, of receiving several of these! The public health, and greater good, should, and most, prevail!

5. Common sense/ Politics: Although, on many occasions, we have witnessed, that, common sense, is extremely, rare, when it comes to public policies, etc, shouldn’t ensuring health and safety, be a popular, desirable one? Let’s demand, politics, be removed, from safety – type, issues!

The shut – downs, in this country, began in March, 2020, and, have only, been lifted, in many regions, recently (although, some, such as California, have resumed, indoor – mask restrictions, etc)! For the health, safety, and well – being, and to eliminate the damaging impacts of this pandemic, wouldn’t it make sense, for each of us, to do our part, and get vaccinated?

Cat Got Your Eye?

Cats are cute, especially kittens. Many people have one or more cats as pets and let them sleep in their rooms at night. To paraphrase Clint Eastwood, you have to ask yourself: do you feel lucky, well, do you? You are asleep in bed, lying on your side when your cat jumps up and a claw causes a 2 inch laceration of your left upper eyelid. The wound bleeds profusely and as you are getting ready to go to work, you notice purple discoloration and swelling of the eyelid. What do you do? Time to see a physician.

The bacterium, Bartonella henselae, lives in the gut of fleas and can remain viable in flea feces for several days. Fleas transmit this bacteria to domestic and stray cats worldwide. Areas where fleas are endemic have higher rates of infested cats. A contaminated cat claw or bite can transmit this organism to humans causing cat scratch disease.

Most cat scratches are not serious and usually respond to symptomatic treatment by washing the wound with soap and water. Cat scratch infection of the eyelid, however, can rapidly progress to cellulitis around the eye, especially if the person is diabetic, or immunocompromised, e.g., HIV positive or alcoholic. Cat scratches can also infect lymph nodes around the head and neck and inside of the eye, as well.

In significant scratches, or a scratch on the eyelid, treatment includes antibiotics: Zithromax, azithromycin (Z-Pak) for 5 days, or rifampin, doxycycline, or ciprofloxacin. A laceration involving the upper eyelid may cut the muscle that allows the eyelid to move up-and-down. Microsurgical treatment by an ophthalmologist may be needed to prevent eyelid droop. Alternatively, if the wound does not involve the eyelid muscle, a plastic surgeon may be consulted about the need for sutures.

Clostridium tetani spores, which cause tetanus can be found in the soil and in the intestines and feces of cats and other household pets. Tetanus is usually acquired by a laceration or puncture of the skin. So, in addition to antibiotics, a shot of the combined tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccine is recommended for all adults ages 19 to 64, regardless of when the last tetanus or diphtheria vaccine was given. It is especially important to be vaccinated if you have an infected wound. Cat lacerations are more likely to become infected than dog lacerations.

Flea collars are more effective for the head and neck of the cat than for the tail end. Cat owners should know the risk of flea infestation and be forewarned.

The Inquisition of an International Hero

While the British General Medical Council (GMC), the equivalent of a U.S State Medical Board on steroids, is taking Dr. Andrew Wakefield to task for daring to suggest that autism could be caused by the MMR vaccine, the number of children with autism in the U.K. continues to climb.

On July 8, 2007, researchers from Cambridge University’s Autism Research Center in London released a report estimating that one in every 58 children (not just boys) in the U.K suffers from “some form of autism disorder” compared to previous estimates of one in 100.[1] The reality of that statistic should make one gasp: Nearly two percent of the citizens of the U.K. will become mentally handicapped adults.

The current population of the United Kingdom is estimated to be nearly 61 million.[2] Two percent of the population, more than 1,200,000 adults, eventually be living on drugs to manage their behavior. In twenty years, more than a million persons will be taken from the ranks of teachers, engineers, shop owners, doctors, lawyers, policemen and firemen. In addition, a significant portion of the population will be employed to care for adults incapable of caring for themselves.

Many adults with severe autism could live very long lives. Some may have asthma and others bowel disorders, but unlike children with a true genetic disorder such as Down’s syndrome, autistics could live well into their 70s or 80s. Who will care for them? Feed them? Bathe them? Who will wipe their bottoms? Persons with autism have not lost their health; they have lost their minds. What if one in 58 children were suddenly going blind or becoming deaf? If vaccines were the suspected cause, would doctors robotically continue to vaccinate and explain away the travesty by announcing a desperate need for more seeing-eye dogs and cochlear implants? How much destruction of human life is necessary before the medical profession stops genuflecting to a methodology that should have become a relic of history, similar to leaches and blood letting?

The United Kingdom is a relatively small country. What will its society look like, with 1.2 million autistic adults in its midst? Imagine this as the opening scene of a movie, set in 2037:

…The opening camera shot scans a British street, typical and narrow, bustling with activity. As the camera zooms in, it becomes apparent that something is disturbingly wrong. Dozens of adults with blank stares are wandering aimlessly through the streets flapping, drooling, and shouting frequent, unintelligible words. Shopkeepers are concerned for their safety as these over-sized, unemployed adults, mostly men, bang on doors and nearly break windows, searching for food and shelter. Overwhelmed social workers do their best to keep these strong, frightened creatures under control…

This science fiction story may become a reality show in a few short years. Perhaps Dr. Wakefield had a similar vision of the future as he tried to stop the triple-vaccine jab from ruining the future of his country.

Several years ago, Dr. Wakefield and I were speakers at an autism conference in Dallas. On Saturday evening, Andy delivered the keynote speech at a dinner that doubled as a fund raiser for the sponsoring organization. I remember his words, and his stately British accent, as clearly today as the night he spoke them.

He told the story of his journey from a classically trained pediatric gastroenterologist into the world of autism. Parents implored him to examine their children who had developed autism and severe bowel disorders soon after receiving the MMR vaccine. Was there a connection? Colonoscopies were performed and the tissue samples from the each of the children surprisingly contained vaccine-strain measles virus. In 1998, he was the lead author in a paper published in The Lancet which concluded, “We did not prove an association between measles, mumps and rubella vaccine and the syndrome described…Further investigations are needed to examine this syndrome and its possible relation to this vaccine.”[3]

It was impossible to predict that this single, observational paper would lead to years of vile phlegm being spewed at him for the mere suggestion of an association between a vaccine and autism. He concluded this part of his story with a reflection that, had he foreseen the onslaught that was to follow, perhaps he would have treated the children without fanfare and without publishing his findings.

The personal and professional attacks began shortly after his case report was published. Undeterred, his research continued. He told of a time when he hand-delivered well-designed studies to a top Merck executive, imploring him to examine the data that strongly suggested an association between the measles virus and autism. In a follow up conversation with this very senior executive, Dr. Andy asked, “Did you bother to read any of those studies I gave you?” The Merck executive flatly replied, “We don’t have to.”

We don’t have to? Does that mean Merck makes the rules about the MMR? Does that mean Merck can defy the research? One thing was certain: The good doctor had poked a stick in the eye of an unfriendly giant named Merck. The giant joined forces with his powerful buddies in the Public Health Department and British National Health Service. Together, they worked every angle to ensure that any connection between the MMR vaccine and autism would not be accepted.

At the close of his speech, Andy directly addressed the conference speakers and the activist parents in the room. He chose his words carefully and delivered them with laser focus. He asserted that those who work tirelessly to expose the truth about vaccines are the last hope for seriously ill, vaccine-injured children. “We must continue,” he said, “no matter how difficult the road, no matter how serious the consequences. We must fight for these children….because if we put down the flag and surrender when the going gets a little bit tough, who else will do it? Who will dare pick up the torch and carry it forward if we quit? There will be no one…no one. And the next generation of children…and the next…will be forever lost.” The profoundness of his words hung in the air; there was no movement for a very long time. Each person knew, unequivocally, he spoke the truth. One by one, the hands came together. The applause crescendoed to a roaring, well-deserved standing ovation.

That night in Dallas was in November, 2003. The dogged determination of many to expose the truth about vaccines is beginning to make a difference. The world is waking up as the problems are no longer anomalies. Parents are questioning the once-size-fits-all vaccination policies dictated by the minions of pharma. Moms and dads are standing firm, resisting the pressure from White Coats to vaccinate. They are refusing to inject their precious babies with more than 100 vaccine antigens prior to kindergarten. They are deciding that their children can be healthy with plenty of sleep, exercise, clean hands, fresh water, and good food.

Whistleblowers and brave hearts are more often executed than honored for their courage. By refusing to recant his scientific findings to save his license to practice medicine, Dr. Wakefield is facing the tyranny of medical power. Barbara Loe-Fisher, co-founder of the National Vaccine Information Center, described it this way: “The spectacle this British Medical Inquisition is creating for the world to see will have repercussions far beyond the martyrs it will make. People are not stupid and they will not soon forget that medical doctors inside and outside of the British government so feared one man’s scientific discovery about vaccination that they felt they had no choice but to destroy him and anyone who stands with him.”

Keep up the good work, Andy. Your bravery is an inspiration for all of us to continue to warn others of the real culprit behind the global autism epidemic. Thanks to your steadfast determination, parents are wiser and children are healthier. To thousands around the world, you are our hero.

Quick and Easy Ways To Naturally Prevent and Treat Colds, The Flu and Sinusitis

When flu time arrives, we’re besieged with the pressure of whether or not to get the flu shot. If you find yourself wondering if there are any real alternatives out there, then this article is for you.

Homeopathic vaccinations are an attractive and highly effective alternative to conventional vaccinations. According to Dr. Isaac Golden (Head of the School of Holistic Medicine in Australia), homeopathic vaccinations have historically a 90% + success rate.

Homeopathic vaccines are normally taken sublingually (under the tongue) or in water, and the dosage contains a diluted yet potentized amount of the vaccine or remedy. This allows you to assimilate the remedy without shock or side effects. It triggers your body’s natural defense mechanism which begins to manufacture anti-bodies that in turn will combat the actual flu virus.

Keep in mind that no one system of vaccination can provide a 100% guarantee of protection – lifestyles and predisposition affects that.

If at any time you’re doubtful on what choice to make, research everything you can find on regular vaccines and natural alternatives, then go with your instinct – your mind has a powerful influence on your health – in the end you must do what resonates with you.

What To Take To Prevent The Flu:

1) Influenzinum, the homeopathic flu vaccine,is usually prescribed by homeopathic physicians during the course of flu season. The dosage is tailored for you based on your constitution and whether or not you you’re susceptible to catching colds and the flu. See a homeopath to get dosed or use Homeocoksinum or Oscillococcinum as a precaution

2) Take 2,000 mg of Vitamin C capsules daily (for adults). This will boost your immune system. Vitamin C has proven to be a powerful virus fighter. Children can take 500 mg of Vitamin C daily, especially during flu season.

3) Take 2,000 IU of Vitamin D daily for adults and 400 IU daily for children, especially if you live in areas which tend to get less sunshine during the winter months. South Asians in particular have more melanin levels which limits the body’s ability to produce Vitamin D3.

4) Drink 2-3 litres of plain water spread out over the day and add a pinch of sea salt to meals. This will help thin and flush out mucus and decrease sinus congestion as well as balancing cell integrity to keep your system healthy on a daily basis. If you don’t drink this recommended amount already, then increase your daily intake of drinking water very slowly until your kidneys have had a chance to catch up. As well, never drink a litre or more of water at one sitting. Coffee and alcohol are dehydrating, so enjoy in moderation and hydrate afterward!

5) Take daily multivitamins (both children and adults).

6) Make sure you get at least 8 hours sleep a night.

7) Do your best to keep your working hours (including computer, blackberry and iPhone time) limited to a healthy work-life balance.

What To Do if You Catch the Flu:

There are two over-the-counter homeopathic kits which are great to keep in your home health kit: Homeocoksinum or Oscillococcinum. They are good for both adults and children. They match general flu symptoms: aching, fever, headache, stiffness, shivers, cough, runny nose and congestion. These remedies have been proven to cut the flu short and lessen the symptom intensity if taken within the first 48 hours of symptoms.

1) Homeocoksinumor Oscillococcinum. Dose: The contents of 1/2 tube under the tongue, then repeat two to three times, 8 hours apart (so 1.5-2 tubes to be taken in total). Repeat the next day.

2) For children with nasal symptoms during the flu, use a natural nasal spray containing sea water, such as HydraSense mist. A 2008 study in the Czech Republic showed a significant improvement in flu nasal symptoms for children using such a spray.

3) Take 1,000 mg of Vitamin C every waking hour for the first 2 days (or until loose bowels are experienced), then wean down to 3,000 mg daily until the end of April. After April, wean back down to 2,000 mg a day and maintain at this dose.

4) Take plenty of liquids. Avoid anything with sugar, although fruits and hot water+honey+lemon is fine.

5) Ginger tea is excellent for boosting your immune system. Chop an inch or two of fresh ginger and heat it on High in a full saucepan of water. Once it boils, let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, then strain and drink as is or with some honey. Caution: It’s spicy!

Homeopathy works beautifully if you have already contracted the flu. There are many effective remedies such as Gelsemium for the classic flu when the weather changes. However as most people have slightly different symptoms other than the general symptoms, for best results it’s recommended to see a classical homeopath who will prescribe a remedy based on your full symptom picture. As well, continued homeopathic treatment will raise your defenses naturally, leading to less susceptibility and a healthier overall system over the years.

Where to find homeopathic flu vaccines:

Most homeopaths offer flu vaccines (along with travel and childhood disease vaccines). Look for a classical homeopath in your area and consider treating your family yearly. Homeokoksinum and Oscillococcsinum can be ordered online or picked up at most health stores.

Sinusitis (Sinus Infection and Inflammation):

It is very common for sinus sufferers to experience sinus congestion, inflammation and infections along with cold and flu symptoms. They can also be triggered by allergies and the infections may be either viral, bacterial or, more commonly as reported by The Mayo Clinic, fungal.

Some tips to keep your sinuses clear:

1) Follow the steps for preventing the flu above.

2) At the first sign of congestion, use a neti pot, Grossan sinus irrigator, Sinupulse irrigator or a saline flush like hydraSense or Neilmed to irrigate your nostrils. They are very effective when used right away.

As sinus symptoms are generally chronic and come back repeatedly, a homeopath can work with you to treat any underlying condition. If you aren’t able to locate a homeopath in your area, use my tips above and visit my website for more ideas.

Things You Didn’t Know About Travel Vaccinations

When you travel abroad, planning for your trip needs to include vaccination against dangerous diseases that exist in other parts of the world. There are many countries that will not allow you entry unless you are vaccinated against certain diseases. If you are not vaccinated against these diseases, then your dream holiday could be over before it even begins.

Examples of Destinations Requiring Inoculation

Some of the most popular holiday destinations for Europeans have strict travel vaccination policies. Here are a few examples:

  • If you wish to travel to Turkey, then you need to have an up-to-date vaccination for Tetanus and Hepatitis A. And while it is not required, it would also be a good idea to get inoculated against Hepatitis B as well as rabies.
  • If you are planning to holiday in India or Egypt, or even countries in Africa, then you also need to be vaccinated against Yellow Fever.

The point is, you will need to get vaccinated if you plan a trip to other parts of the world. If you wish to know which vaccines you need for your trip, you can check on websites such as FitForTravel and AdultVaccination.org.

If you are still not sure about which vaccinations you may need, it is best to speak with your local clinic or your GP, who can advise you on this matter and even administer the vaccination for you.

Important Reasons Why You Should Get Vaccinated

Besides the fact that the country you are planning to visit requires you to be immunised against certain diseases, getting vaccinated could also save your life. It is also the responsible thing to do since not being vaccinated could make you a carrier of a dangerous disease that could put other at risk.

Here are some important facts that you need to know about why you should get travel vaccination:

  1. If you do not get vaccinated and are unfortunate enough to contract a disease, you could end up not being covered by your travel insurance.
  2. A lot of insurance companies include conditions in their policies that state that if you do not get the required or recommended inoculations and medicines for your chosen destination, then you would be in violation of the policy. This would mean that your insurance claim would be denied.
  3. The average cost of Medical Claims is more than £1000. Added to that, treatment costs of tropical and other dangerous diseases can go into the thousands. Furthermore, if you need to be repatriated, then so costs go up exponentially.

When Should You Vaccinate Yourself?

You should get vaccinated several weeks before you are scheduled to travel. This is because there are some vaccinations that need to be administered well in advance of your trip for them to be effective by the time you depart.

At the end of the day, you need to ask yourself whether not getting vaccinated is a risk you are willing to take. It is not only dangerous to your health but could also leave you broke.

Serosurvey Vs Herd Immunity Vs Vaccination In India!

The 4th Serosurvey done by the apex medical body ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) in June-July 2021 taking in over 28,000 samples in 21 states has shown that about 70% of the people of India (including children) have antibodies, that is to say, relative immunity against COVID-19 infections-which is a big jump from the 3rd survey done in January-February this year that showed only around 21% of people having antibodies. However, the ICMR study does not distinguish antibodies developed through natural viral infections or through vaccination in terms of numbers. Coming after the disastrously uncontrollable COVID-19 second wave which is yet to subside the result is extremely significant: it definitely shows a light of hope in terms of India coming closer to developing herd immunity, because earlier in 2020 experts said that at least 80% of population of any country must develop immunity to achieve herd immunity; and that around 70% of people of India are hopefully not going to have the serious type of the disease, thus reducing hospitalization and possible fatalities and possibly diminishing the impact of the feared third wave. But the fact remains that at least 400 million of India’s population are still susceptible to infections, dominated by the more infectious Delta variants, which puts the much hyped vaccination drive in India in poor light.

Now, the argument offered against trying to go for herd immunity (including the Government of India) had been the fact that at least 80% of people would have to get infected and in a country like India even with a lower fatality rate of around 1.5% the number of deaths would be huge and immensely unavoidable. We seem to see that the horrid second wave that nobody prepared for has nearly achieved that goal, costing possibly millions of lives. We know the official numbers: about 32 million of Indians have so far got the infections of which around 0.42 million (4.2 Lakh) died; vaccination has been done in more that 410 million people so far in terms of only the first dose, and fully vaccinated people represents only around 8% of the population. Even if we take into account all the people taking at least one dose and adding to that the naturally infected people that would account for only around 440 million people, officially of course, which would leave a huge chunk of population that has developed antibodies apart from the 400 million susceptible people (India’s population is now around 1.35 billion, and it is not known how. We try to offer our arguments on this apparent paradox (may not be for experts) as to why this could have possibly happened.

There was a recent international study that said India’s COVID-19 fatalities have been grossly under-reported, and in actual terms it would be 3.4 million in the best case and 4.9 million in the worst scenario which says in volumes about the possible actual infections that raged across the country. Although, as usual all the way, the Government had stoutly denied this, there had also been disputes regarding death figures in states like Madhya Pradesh where the said difference to the actual figure shown amounts to nearly 0.3 million (3 Lakh), in Uttar Pradesh there were no accounts of the number of dead bodies floating in river Ganga which scenario also applies to the state of Bihar, and in Gujarat the numbers of deaths have been allegedly tampered with several times and in Karnataka. The state-wise data of the 4th Serological Survey present a very interesting picture in this context.

The level of immunity or rather seropositivity rate shown by Madhya Pradesh is to the extent of 79%, the highest in the country, almost achieving herd immunity. Doesn’t this example show the extent of possible unreported infections as well as deaths that would amount to unimaginable figures? Similar scenarios are also seen in Rajasthan (76.2%), Bihar (75.9%), Gujarat (75.3%), Chhattisgarh (74.6%), Uttarakhand (73.1%), Uttar Pradesh (71%), Andhra Pradesh (70.2%), Karnataka (69.8%) and Tamil Nadu (69.2%). However, out of these states there have not been any controversies so far regarding actual numbers in Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Andhra Pradesh. The states of Odisha that has been seeing continuous and exponential daily infections, Punjab, Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Haryana have seropositivity rates in the sixties. These states have been bearing the brunt of infections from the beginning of the pandemic.

Interestingly again, the frontrunners in the pandemic spread, Kerala and Maharashtra have lower immunity rates, in fact, Kerala has the lowest rate of 44.4%, and Maharashtra having the highest number of infections and deaths in the country has 58% immunity. It can be explained this way: Kerala that started the pandemic in India had been handling the situation very well with effective measures and protocols thus protecting a large number of their people, also having the highest rate of vaccination in the country; but, some aberrations later on, in terms of mainly religious appeasement, more and more people are now getting exposed to the virus and at the moment it is accounting for half of daily national infections; in case of Maharashtra the state has been maintaining the highest level of transparency both in terms of daily infections and deaths-always revising the numbers adding the backlogs, and therefore, here the official numbers are not very different from the actual ones. Assam has also a lower seropositivity rate of 50% that can be largely because the state, along with other states of the north eastern region, had been relatively spared in the first wave, but the second wave led by the Delta variant has been ripping them apart.

A bit of personal experience should ideally be added in support of our projected scenario of a possible achievement of herd immunity at least in some of the states in near future. I would like to rate the municipal authorities in Maharashtra as the best, always visible, proactive and visiting or surveying every house in every locality for possible signs of infections and on finding immediately arranging tests, and on someone being found positive sealing the building instantly enforcing strict measures. The state has its own reasons in terms population density, travels, business and congestion for having the worst spread despite its most efficient control. Even then, I have first knowledge of many residents hiding or not testing their infections and if those were mild getting recovered without anyone knowing-with some of them observing strict isolation while Covidiots moving around infecting others, almost knowingly.

This unfortunate syndrome of hiding the symptoms of fever, cough or even loss of sense of smell and not going for RT-PCR tests have been most visible in several other compromised metro cities or towns where the municipal officials are hardly visible and infections being handled behind closed doors across colonies and buildings. I have felt this and witnessed this, and even now it is happening, though to a much lesser extent as the positivity rates in most parts of the country have fallen below 5%. The impact of this syndrome could well be imagined in the vast rural areas where there were no medical facilities even if some wanted to get tested or treated. The case of the asymptomatic carriers is also to be accounted for.

If we are indeed approaching the attainment of herd immunity as we have put forward the reasons for, then this is being done the hardest way-at horrible cost of lives and livelihoods. Had the Government of India taken the vaccination drive, started in January 2021, much more seriously, devoting all the doses for its citizens, and had it heeded the warnings about the second wave and taken strict measures we could have approached the same situation most scientifically and effectively. The risks are not over even now: 400 million people are still exposed to the virus and vaccination has still not picked up despite the promise, the hype, chest-thumping and boasting. We also don’t know if the second wave has ebbed and the third wave started, because the daily numbers are falling or rising daily. Hope good sense prevail among all the governments in view of the fact that the most infectious Delta variant and the still unknown quantity called Delta Plus are still around and can still create havoc, at least in the vulnerable states.

SImilarities Between Homeopathy And Vaccinations

Although, most of the rest of the world, has a medical/ health system, based on more of a wellness approach, than we do, in the United States, we, often, accept certain traditional approaches, without asking many questions, while refusing, to even consider, others, which we consider, alternative! The reality is, while the actual administration, of homeopathy, and vaccinations, differs in several ways, there are specific similarities, which, should not be overlooked, or minimized, Shouldn’t the primary goal, of any health care, be, enhancing and improving health, and happiness, and strengthening our immune systems, so we are resistant, to many ailments, diseases, etc? Today, there are some, who consider, themselves, anti – vaxers, who resist using, even, tried, and proven treatments, for the greater good, as well as one’s own health, and well – being. These include treatments for measles, mumps, smallpox, etc. Others state, they believe, homeopathy, and homeopathic remedies, are false treatments, although, in most of the rest of the world, are considered, and recognized, as an essential part of an overall treatment regimen. With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, why, both vaccinations, and using homeopathic remedies, correctly, and, as indicated, make sense, and, are, in certain ways, based on similar premises.

1. Vaccinations: Before we had vaccinations, many individuals risked death, and suffered debilitating illnesses. Since these vaccines, have become common – place, we’ve witnessed a dramatic decrease in the incidence of these diseases. However, in the past few years, diseases, such as measles, which seemed eliminated, have resurfaced, because of those, who believe rumors and unproven safety allegations, and have refused to have their children, vaccinated. The concept, or principle, of most vaccines, is to introduce, a very small amount of a specific disease, so, our bodies, enhance their immune system, and develop an immunity, to these. This, also, explains, why, those who has certain diseases, such as measles, become immune to further exposures.

2. Homeopathy: Most medical systems, unlike ours, use homeopathy, and specific homeopathic remedies, under the auspices and direction of a qualified health practitioner, as the first recourse. They use both allopathy, or conventional medicine, as well as alternative approaches, in a wellness approach to health care. Homeopathy is based on introducing minute amounts of a specific ailment, in order to create a greater degree of resistance, and immunity. When diseases aren’t life – threatening, or require acute actions, the result is addressing the cause of the illness, rather than merely, covering up, or focusing on the symptoms.

Since both vaccinations, and homeopathy, both introduce minute amounts of a disease or ailment, in order to build and create immunity, why do so many Americans, take vaccinations, for granted, but have doubts, about homeopathy? Do yourself a favor, and learn, as much as possible, about wellness alternatives, and discuss these with your health practitioner.

Are You Armed Against Cervical Cancer?

Cervical cancer is the primary cause of cancer-related deaths in developing countries

In India, cervical cancer is the most common woman-related cancer, followed by breast cancer. About 122,844 new cervical cancer cases are diagnosed annually (estimations for 2012). It mostly affects middle-aged women (between 40 and 55 years), especially those from the lower economic status who fail to carry out regular health check-ups. The early stages of cervical cancer are asymptomatic, later stages may present with abnormal vaginal bleeding, foul-smelling vaginal discharge, low back pain, bleeding and pain during urination or pain during sex. Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is now a well-established cause of cervical cancer. Several cofactors associated with HPV persistence are smoking, promiscuity, long-term oral contraceptive use and other sexually transmitted infections like HIV. At least 50% of sexually active men and women get HPV at some point in their lives which usually resolves spontaneously; however, only 3-10% of women develop persistent infections, and are at high risk of developing cervical cancer.

Tools for prevention:

Lifestyle Changes

Avoid multiple sexual partners, delaying first sexual intercourse, reducing tobacco use.

Since early detection predicts better prognosis, one of the most effective ways of preventing and controlling cervical cancer is regular screening by Pap Smear, VIA and early diagnosis.

Screening

Screening by cervical cytology Pap smear (scrapings from the cervix) has lead to marked reduction in cervical cancer incidence. The test is not considered for women below the age of 25 years and over the age of 65 years. A 3-yearly examination is recommended for women between the ages of 25 -49 years while for the age group between 50-64 years a Pap smear once in every 5 years is recommended. The problem with pap smear screening is its low compliance among Indian women.

HPV Vaccines

Prevention by vaccination is emerging as the most effective option. Among the several strains of HPV infection two strains: HPV 16 and 18, account for more than 70% of all cancer cases worldwide. HPV vaccines that prevent against HPV 16 and 18 infection are now available and have the potential to reduce the incidence of cervical and other anogenital cancers.

The currently available vaccines are safe and efficacious. The protection is seen only when the vaccine is given before infection with HPV, the vaccine should be given prior to sexual debut. The vaccine should preferably be introduced to parents as a cervical cancer preventing vaccine and not as a vaccine against a sexually transmitted infection. The HPV vaccination is therefore of public health importance.

Two vaccines licensed globally are available in India; a quadrivalent vaccine (GardasilTM marketed by Merck) and a bivalent vaccine (CervarixTM marketed by GlaxoSmithKline). These vaccines do not protect against the serotype with which infection has already occurred before vaccination. The bivalent and quadrivalent vaccines available are prophylactic, not therapeutic.

Prevention is better than cure. This saying does not seem to hold good for Indians as far as health care is concerned with only around 10 per cent of adults opting for vaccines

Treatment of established cervical cancer

Cancer in very early stages may be removed surgically. In later stages, radiation and chemotherapy maybe employed alone or after surgery
