Starships In The Near Future

Are you among those people who are great fan of watching science fiction genre movies? If you are then of course you know about the biggest titles ever featured in this category. The Star Wars franchise is so far the most popular and almost already generic term which has even become a household common adjective to most. Star Trek is another famous title that comes close to the present reality than Star Wars, where earth still exists and the existence of planets and interstellar infrastructure are not yet that complex or convoluted. New titles of science fiction also touched the memory of patrons and lovers of this genre. The Avatar is among the newest science fiction epic that swept the cinema industry. Other titles that also made their marks are Dune Series, Serenity, and Starship Troopers.

Let me ask you then, what is something common in these titles? Can you identify the connection among the titles I have posted? The common idea or element behind these science fiction films is that it features interstellar voyages. Interstellar means traveling from one star or solar system to another. Therefore, all of these films feature ‘star ships’ in their usual environment.

What are star ships then? They are vessels used in traveling through another solar system. It has been already widely accepted in the cosmic scientific community that there are hundreds of galaxies beyond our own. Think of star ships as the 15th century ocean-sailing Imperial galleons during the Age of Exploration. However, what these star ships is neither massive canvas sails, steam, coal, or crude oil. What fuels interstellar vehicles called star ships is the element called antimatter.

Since the discovery and application of positrons, the counterpart of positive electrons, research of the antimatter has been heightened to such extent. Only recently, it has been announced that scientists have already found a way to create and even store antimatter in larger quantities than ever known.

The reason why antimatter is believed to be the source of fuel that makes interstellar travel possible is because antimatter is considered to be the element possessing the most concentrated energy. If thermonuclear bombs only uses 1 percent, antimatter uses 99 percent more concentration. Most scientist who succeeded in these findings believed that antimatter is no doubt the only candidate to achieving the unthinkable.

Sooner, when large quantities of antimatter can already be stored, and its element already scientifically proven to be applicable in actual usage, then humanity will embark on another discovery. After all, during the Middle Ages, European peoples believed that going beyond the Straits of Gibraltar is unthinkable as all ships will descend to the bottomless void at the edge of the world. They were proven wrong by bold brilliant navigators who became the pioneers of the Age of Exploration. The same might be happening now, where scientific theories and postulations are often thought outlandish due to the indulgence of fictional media and reluctance of the neoconservative religious communities. History repeats itself. The same thing could be said in the matter of human discovery where interstellar voyage seemed to be among the biggest highlights. But what lies in the future still remains to be seen.

Vintage Designer History, Jean Desses

Jean Desses, was born in Alexandria, Egypt (although his ancestry was in fact Greek) in 1904. He originally studied law, before taking an interest in design and taking up work with a well known Parisian couture house called Maison Jane. He eventually opened his own atelier in 1937, although he didn’t become very well known, until after the war had ended.

Early on it was quite obvious that his own family history and back ground had influenced the way he designed. His technical complexity was very similar to Vionnet and Balenciaga, in that, it was all about sculptural aesthetics. He was a master with his 2 preferred fabrics, chiffon and mousseline.

His dresses often featured intricate pleating and beautiful draping, which covered structured formal bodices. He also, often featured, full skirts swept back at different angles, all resulting in visually stunning, beautifully elegant pieces.

These weren’t the only materials he used however, he was also extremely adept with other materials, such as rough tweeds and dress wools. When he wasn’t focusing on gowns, some of his favorite features were, voluminous sleeves, dropped shoulder lines and draped collars.

Jean Desses designs were extremely popular among the Hollywood elite and much of the European royalty. He designed the wedding dress for princess Sophia of Greece to her marriage to Prince Juan Carlos of Spain. (Juan Carlos. doesn’t get any more Spanish than that!)

In 1951, Vogue called his latest collection of dresses, the ‘Fords’ of his career and indeed they were! (Jennifer Lopez wore one to the 2006 Academy awards, Renee Zelleweger wore one to the Oscars in 2001 and Kirsten Davis wore one to the snore fest that was the SATC2 premier).

Desses continued to operate his clothing house into the 1960s. He did not find the changing times of fashion difficult to adjust to, as his skills lended them selves well to using stiffer fabrics with simple silhouettes. However due to failing health, he closed his couture house in 1965 and retired to Greece, where he passed away just 5 years later. His work and influences were passed on to many other designers, including his two rather well known assistants, Guy Laroche and Valentino Garavani.

Of course anyone in the fashion world is familiar with these 2 names. Valentino would go on to open his own house in Rome in 1959 and LaRoche in Paris in 1957. Both of these men have often referenced Jean Desses as a huge inspiration to them and their collections. The most obvious being, the shade Valentino called Valentino red after Jean Desses started to favor a similar color in his later collections.

Diving Through The Collapsing Wave

Diving Through The Collapsing Wave ©2020 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC

After a year and a half of commuting to New York to care for my brother who’s had a stroke, the exhaustion caught up with me and I put a pause on my regular ezine/blog posts and you tube videos. I felt like I was saying the same thing over and over again.

I thought I’d start up again in February but the Coronavirus swept across the world, and it seems I was in front of it. The first reported cases in the US were in the Seattle area in February, and I attended a large gathering at the Seattle Center on February 22nd. Then I flew to New York City just as a single case was reported there. On March 1st I flew to Spain, and over the seventeen days there I got to witness the city of Madrid shift from being rarely casual about the outbreak (“there are only 400 cases in a city of 4 million”, to completely locking down on March 14th – people were not even allowed out to exercise. Only one person in a car. You could be fined 50-600 euros for being on the street if you weren’t going grocery shopping for essentials.

I flew back to NYC on March 17th and self-isolated for 14 days. I thought I only had a cold but now with better awareness of the symptoms am convinced it was a mild version of COVID19. While in NYC my sister in law came down with much more recognizable symptoms, and I was there a full month helping her recover and doing my best to keep my disabled brother from catching it.

I’ve been on Vashon Island since April 16th (did not leave the house at all for the first 14 days) and feel like I’m only just getting my head above water.

It’s been an intense few months and it ain’t over yet.

Regardless of what city I’m in, the fear is palpable whenever I go out. I’ve been hesitant to give a spiritual perspective on what is happening, feeling that neutrality could be mistaken for being disconnected or in denial. Also, if I’m so good at what I do, why am I in this parallel Universe? Why haven’t I changed, fixed, or manipulated this hologram?

Here’s the thing – this is all part of the Consciousness shift. What is breaking down, what is disintegrating in our lives whether physically or emotionally, is because greater Consciousness is coming into form.

Now I used to resist the doom-and-gloomers who said, ‘not everybody is going to make it’. And yet, wow, we’re seeing an awful lot of death in a short period of time. But a way to look at it is, there is no death, our loved ones have just left their physical forms for the loving embrace of greater Consciousness. There’s no good or bad about dying or the amount of time you spend in one lifetime in physical form. Also from my “5D” perspective, there are parallel universes where their bodies are still alive. And as Consciousness we’re always connected, whether we’re together in body or not.

My interpretation of “5D” isn’t that we’re all going to shift into it, one of my favorite astrologers thinks that means death. What I have found is, as I experience myself as Greater Consciousness coming more into my body that my reality feels lighter and more fluid. Time is malleable. Grounding is different. Physical reality is less dense. It’s like going from dialup to wifi.

As Consciousness, I’m in total agreement with what is going on, even as my personality rages against it. It’s not about superimposing a rosy vision on what is. It’s more like observing as a city or neighborhood or world goes through an upgrade. Telephone poles get taken down, sewers gets dug up, squalid tenements get condemned.

Right now it’s very glaring that this is a world of opposites. The loudest and weakest are in power, the old paradigms they’re fighting so hard to continue imposing are fading away. What is emerging, I see, is a new, internal sense of empowerment, that we are all inherently and uniquely valuable. As we expand in our awareness, the old definitions are fading away as well, in terms of gender and sex.

It ain’t easy, and it won’t be over in a minute or a month, this transition will continue to unfold.

A while back while playing in the waves at the beach, I learned not to turn my back to the ocean when a giant wave came towards me. You just dive through it to the other side. As these waves of change come towards us, face them, take a deep breath, and dive through them. Reality will be a lot more fun on the other side.

The Agile Solopreneur

Solopreneurs who possess agile professional skills bring to the organizations with whom they work urgently needed expertise, often limited to a specific assignment and for a predetermined length of time. Agile Solopreneurs provide great insight, heightened productivity and relevant experience to countless mission-critical projects.

Agile innovation first swept through the Information Technology sector and greatly increased success rates in software development, improving product quality and speed to market. Agile management techniques are spreading to other industries and Solopreneur consultants ought to be aware of what is involved, both as regards the ways your clients and prospects may buy into agile practices and how you might incorporate certain agile methods into your consultancy.

More so than in the past, business ventures now exist in highly dynamic conditions. Customer priorities and technological advancements are known to change rapidly. Keeping a finger on the pulse of new developments and innovating or adapting as necessary the company’s products and services in response are essential. Marketing strategies, advertising buzz words and sales strategies operate on short-term cycles that fit the parameters of social media platforms. This fast-moving environment demands the stewardship of leaders who command agile skills. But what does agile mean in practice?

Agile does not mean doing the usual thing, only faster. Darrell Rigby, a partner at Bain & Company consulting and Hirotaka Takeuchi, professor of strategy at the Harvard Business School and CEO of Scrum, Inc., a consulting and training firm, describe agile business practices as containing the following elements:

  • Scrum: Creative and adaptive teamwork that solves complex problems.
  • Lean development: That focuses on the continual elimination of waste.
  • Kanban: That focuses on reducing lead times and the amount of time needed to complete a process.

Agile management practices are particularly well-suited to strategic planning activities, marketing campaigns, resource allocation decisions and supply chain challenges. Agile works best where complex problems can be broken down into modules and assigned to specific teams. Examples of ideal conditions in which to apply agile innovation or methods include:

  • When the solutions to an obstacle or challenge are unknown
  • When the specifications of a product in development may be subject to change
  • When the scope of work to be done on a project is not precisely known
  • When cross-functional collaboration is presumed to be vital and time to market is sensitive

In order to expand (or at least maintain) one’s billable hours, Solopreneurs would be wise to acquire agile skills (books, blogs and certifications are available) and promote your proficiency when selling intangible B2B services to prospects. Decision-makers at organizations that are faced with a mission-critical project, challenge, or opportunity may feel more confident about hiring a Solopreneur who can bring agile methods and problem-solving approaches to the table.

External Solopreneur consultants must always present ourselves as being dependable, trustworthy, capable and able to meet or exceed the clients’ expectations by way of the cutting-edge skills that we possess. In this way, we make hiring managers and project sponsors feel that they’ll appear trustworthy and capable to their peers and superiors when they bring us on board. In this way we can build and sustain a viable consultancy.

On Tech-Kids (Ages 3-9) Spending 2 Hours Daily on a Screen

Be a Digital Parent

Today, kids under 9 spend more than 2 hours on mobiles and tablets, says a reputable recent survey online. This tendency of screen-addiction for kids between ages 3-9 shows a sharp rise in 2011-when kids of the same age group used to spend 15 minutes per day on their screens. However, with a high 200% increase in screen time usage in 2017, this is creating a high alarm among parents and has become a viral issue on social media.

Why do Kids do it?

The survey indicates that the possible reasons could be many, some logical and some forced.

  1. Enhanced digital awareness over the years can be one big reason.
  2. It is the age of technology and innovations. The technological revolution has swept away everyone, including kids under the age of 9.
  3. The schools arrange special technology classes, proper practical usage of mobile/tablet devices, also plays a vital role.
  4. The parents do not pay heed on fixing this ever growing issue, where their small kids/toddlers can use these devices.

Why Kids love spending time on the Screen

In the eyes of a kid under 9, life is just cartoons, games and fun apps. How can they miss out on their favorite TOM and Jerry cartoons, animated movies, exciting games and above all, just for the sake of adventure, they love it. These colorful cell phones and tablets appear attractive and fun to them. They are too young to “think” about the merits and demerits of technology. They just love the idea to have the world on their palm, play video games, and watch their favorite characters like Spider-Man, Superman to be alive with one tap on their screens. One cannot deny the fact that they are spot on in having their own fun time, however, without monitoring from the parents, this fun time could quickly turn into access to inappropriate content-accidentally it may seem.

Parents have a say about this

According to the survey, 80% of the parents confirm that these digital kids love to spend more and more time on their screens. They like to toggle between games, children movies, animated movies, some study apps and the list carries on. These parents are a bit wary of this challenging situation, where their younger kids are frequently using these devices.

A striking survey result

In a shocking study of last month, much of the children (ages 8-11) enjoyed their Tv or video game in the comfort of their bedrooms. They spent massive time on watching TV or playing video games. This fact influenced their study, dinnertime, lunchtime and of course bedtime, leaving the parents scratching their heads on this marvel of technology.

Software apps come to rescue AGAIN

Thanks to the Software industry, we have a solution.Such perplexing situations demand prompt and perfect solutions. A parental control app can monitor, track and also give parents control over kid’s device. Kids under the age of 9 can learn Daily Time Limit by exclusive parental apps like FamilyTime or Qustodio features, where parents can set a daily time limit usage for the devices. It will change the life of a parent peaceful, and at the same time, the kids can learn responsible screen time usage.

Micro Reality Racing: What Is All the Excitement About Micro Reality Stock Car Racing?

Have you ever been at a fair, festival, company picnic, or other indoor or outdoor gathering of people and seen a huge racetrack that is about the size of a two car garage? Did this racetrack have a huge crowd of people around it screaming their lungs out with excitement? Perhaps this racetrack was under the canopy of a huge inflatable tent with a checkered flag design on top? When you moved in closer to see what the excitement was all about, did you find four to six 1/10th scale Sprint Cup Replica NASCAR cars being driven by remote control from full-sized steering wheels? If so, then what you have witnessed is Micro Reality Racing action. Micro Reality Stock Car Racing is an attraction that has been around for about 15 years and it has quickly swept the nation as one of the most addictive amusements for kids ages 3 to 83. It was invented in Atlantic, Iowa, by three brothers known as the Namanny Brothers. They took a great money-making idea that they invented and decided to mass produce it so that other entrepreneurs could have the opportunity to create a great part-time or full-time income providing racing excitement to patrons at public and private gatherings of lots of people.

There are different formats that a Micro Reality event may have. The three main options are pay-per-play, private event rental, and fundraiser. A pay-per-play event is one where the Micro Reality Racing business operates as a vendor, sets up the track in a public place, and charges each individual racer to pick a car and race for either a set amount of time or a set amount of laps. A typical race would be between 2 and 3 minutes or 12 to 15 laps. A typical charge to race would be between 3 dollars and 5 dollars, depending on the type of event, the region, and the demographics of the crowd. Sometimes vendors will offer multi-race discounts, such as two races for 5 dollars. Typical venues for pay-per-play events are fairs, festivals, shopping malls, car shows and carnivals. The main drawback to this type of event is that the racing revenue is dependent on several factors, such as weather, location, and crowd turnout. Although the potential is there to make a significant amount of income from events lasting anywhere from 2 to 14 days, there is also the possibility of losing money, in the event that the revenue does not exceed the space rental, fuel, lodging, insurance, payments to helpers, food, and other expenses the business will encounter.

A private rental is when the Micro Reality Stock Car Racing track is hired out by a party planner or event coordinator to appear at a specific time and place to offer the patrons of the event unlimited racing for the duration of the event. Instead of being paid per race by the event patrons, the Micro Reality business is paid by the organizers of the event or by the event coordinator to provide unlimited racing for an agreed upon number of hours. This type of arrangement is better for the Micro Reality Racing business owner, as the money is guaranteed and he is usually paid an up-front deposit of 50%, with the balance being paid at the conclusion of the event. With a satisfied event coordinator, the Micro Reality track is guaranteed repeat business for years, if the event is annual. The event planner will also schedule a well-run operation for other functions they have planned throughout the year. There is also a good potential for referrals to other event coordinators. The types of events that private rentals are used for are birthday parties, corporate hospitality events, company picnics, team building retreats and church outings.

A fund-raiser is similar to a pay-per-play event, but there is usually a revenue share between the Micro Reality Stock Car Racing business and the event coordinators. The revenue share will be anywhere from a 90/10 split up to a 50/50 split. At this type of event, sometimes the track owner and event coordinators will agree to use a ticket system so the revenue can be tracked.

A Micro Reality Racing System consists of 18 modular track sections that are similar to folding tables with only two legs. There are twelve 15 degree Curved sections and six straight sections. The track can be configured up to 9 different layouts, anything from a small 10′ x 10′ circle all the way up to a 25′ by 30′ Indianapolis Brickyard layout. There are also various oval, superspeedway oval, and asymmetric layouts that can be set up. The cars are adorned with replica NASCAR paint schemes, and usually between four and six cars are raced at one time. The drivers operate the vehicles from behind full-sized steering consoles that are wired with radio controls on the inside. Most successful track owners also track laps with a digital lap counter. Some vendors use a computer and lap counting software which displays race statistics on an LCD monitor.

There are many different ways that a Micro Reality Stock Car Racing system can entertain the crowd at your next event. Although there are many variations in events and venues, the one thing that will be consistent among them all, is the high-level excitement in the crowd and the Micro Reality Racing participants.

PSP Game Downloads Hot Tips

PSP game downloads have swept across the PlayStation community like a storm in the past couple of years. Sony PlayStation portable units have been faithful companions to so many kids and teenagers of today. In terms of popularity, it is almost synonymous to games, just like music is to iPod. But before you start to download games for your PSP unit, there are some things you need to know about playing those PSP game downloads.

Our computers run on an operating system, ie Windows or Mac. Unlike PCs, our PSP units run on PSP firmware. This is the core operating system of the PSP that gives your PSP the ability to play games, video and audio. The firmware is installed in the flash disk of your console. Sony would occasionally release new versions of firmware to add more functionally to your console or to troubleshoot some bugs that are inherent in older versions.

However, you may not be aware that only the older versions of PSP firmware such as version 1.00 and 1.50 can allow you to play PSP game downloads. How do you check out your PSP’s firmware version? Simply take a look at the system software information in the system settings menu. Newer versions come with firmware versions higher than 2.00. If you just bought a new PSP, then there is no need to check if it supports the PSP game downloads.

This feature is a security-protection feature to prevent any user from running unauthorized software on their PSPs. While it does have its merits in expanding the functionality of your PSP, it can be crippling if you plan to play some older console games such as Nintendo, Game Boy Advance, Sega Genesis games or PSP game downloads. You may not be aware also that Sony only allows you to upgrade your firmware to higher versions. You cannot reverse the process once you upgraded your PSP. This inability sounds more like a double-edged sword to a lot of people.

Some software designers have been working hard behind the scenes for years before they came up with ingenious ways to overcome this problem. The solution is in the form of PSP emulators. PSP emulators are software that can read and run game programs that operate on a different architecture, ie console unit such as Nintendo. There are so many emulators out there, free or paid version that can easily “convert” your PSP to play any kind of console game and PSP game downloads, new and old, proprietary or non-proprietary.

Did you know that there are now many PSP game downloads sites that offer you lifetime access to their huge vaults of PSP games, music, movies, software, etc? Learn more from my blog on how you can join the millions of online users who are downloading PSP games right at this moment as you read this article, without having to spend more than the cost of a pizza meal for the family.

Tips for Hosting a True Texan BBQ Party

As the saying goes ‘Everything is big in Texas’, the Texan BBQ Party is no exception. You do not have to go to Texas. Stay where you are and we offer you swashing ideas for a Texan BBQ Party.

Set the backdrop

Texan BBQ Party will be a fun – frolicking experience for you and your guests. To be swept in the mood of Texan style party forgo the fancy flatware and get to the down-home approach. So set the stage for the Texan mood at your backyard.

Start with a dress code of faded blue jeans or head-to-spur fringe to keep the guests in a Texan frame of mind. You may bring out some posers with naughty slogans like – ‘high noon until the cows come home’ or ‘eat barbecue without a napkin’ etc. Spread a desperado décor by turning your backyard into tumbleweed-strewn dust bowl with straw on your deck or patio and hay bales for guests to sit. Cast-iron cookware, dinner bell, cowboy boots, saddles, horseshoes, bedrolls, wagon wheels, dried chilli pepper, rope, Texan flag and many more of your innovative ideas to bring the right mood. A county toe-tapping music by Texas born country artists is a must, without which it would be a big bore.

Unfold a red checked or denim tablecloth. For napkins, make some colorful bandanas tied with rope or even sheriff’s star work wonderfully at your Texan BBQ Party. Make ‘guest name cards’ to place on the tables, which makes them feel special. Add decorative centerpiece on clay pots with cactus or hide a pot in an old pair of boots and some fresh flowers in the pots.

A Texan’s mouth waters like the Colorado River for a slab of spareribs or a hunk of corn bread. The food turns attractive with mouth-watering varieties of special hot sauce. For adventurous guests add tortilla chips and funky salt and peppershakers. If possible keep the drinks in old styled washtub filled with ice.

Fun at the BBQ party

Guests may be unknown to each other. Bring in fun and break the ice with a dance lesson. Invite guests on the floor barefoot or with cowboy boots for a line dancing class.

Texas Hold’em is a fast and funny game of 2-10 people. The objective is to finish with the best poker hand and win the pot.

Cattle Corral is steer roping. Position a pint-sized wrangler a few feet away and try catching the cattle.

Squirt-gun-showdown to set a lit candle or an empty soda can and get your guests to shoot a water pistol to either knock out the flame or the can first.

Just because sun sets, it does not mean fun has to end, set up a campfire, which is legendary with Texas cowboys, and invite someone to strum a song on the six string to reach to the climax of Texan BBQ party.

Live Green Screen Software Added Value To The Chroma Key Process

Live green screen software is an important tool for any movie maker or photographer, whether you’re a professional or just someone who likes to play around with editing their home videos or photos. There are many people who feel intimidated to use Chroma Key or Green Screen because they think it’s too difficult or complicated to apply on their work. However, that’s completely false because the Chroma Key process is actually pretty easy to use and doesn’t require expensive and complicated equipment. All you basically need is your own camera, backdrop, chroma key lights and green screen software.

The live green screen software phenomenon has swept its way for the past decades and has only grown increasingly popular. With blockbuster movies which are largely dependent on the Chroma Key process to make their movies into life like ‘in your face’ big productions. It is also credited to cutting back production costs by allowing directors to film within their studios instead of expensive locations in other countries. The same thing can be applied to anyone who wants to use this technology for home use. You will invest a little on some equipment, but in the long run it will serve you well on your projects.

Besides the live green screen software, you should invest on good equipment as this will aid you in the long run and not cause problems that may affect your work. There are two different kinds of screen studio kits in the market; (whether it’s green or blue) a thin material who has more sheen or the matte one with thicker padding.

The latter is better because it has fewer wrinkles and will not affect your image background during the editing process and not only that, but it also absorbs light better. The shiny material allows the light to bounce off towards your subject and may cause some light spillage. You can either use a green or blue screen, but green is widely used because it is not commonly found on the human body.

Another important and crucial part when using your Chroma Key process is your lighting system. Your chroma key lights should be placed on both sides of your screen and not directly towards your subject as to not cause light spill and angle your lights downward. In the past lighting produced higher temperatures making it quite uncomfortable with the actor to work in.

Today, the lighting system, produces less heat is light weight and is more energy savings. What you will be able to produce with the live green screen software will give your work a more polished and professional look, and if you are using Chroma Key process in your business it will increase sales almost immediately.
