I was sent the eBook version of this book by the author’s assistant, Dee who asked me to read it and provide a review. Although I didn’t think I had ever read a Christian Suspense Novel before, I agreed because I admire others who are open-minded and felt I could do the same by stepping away from the type of books I normally read. It is a very well-written and researched book, and whether or not you agree with the Christian aspect (which is only subtly referred to in the book) it is highly entertaining and well worth reading.

When I need a break from reading books on spirituality, self-improvement or true near-death experiences, I usually grab a biography, horror/mystery novel (Stephen King is one of my favourite authors – how spiritual are his books?) and occasionally a true crime/murder paperback that I borrow from my brother. I had never considered Christian Suspense as an alternative, and honestly never even knew there was a category for these types of books. Dark Liaison by D.I. Telbat certainly constituted a break from my normal reading habits, however I was not disappointed and will read the next novel in the series and let you know what I think about it as well.

I would compare Dark Liaison to a James Bond movie (have never read any of the Bond books so can’t compare to them) or a non-violent spy thriller. The author has written a book that includes suspense, numerous identity changes, semi-mild violence and enough tension to keep you reading to the end. The book is set in the United States, and several middle eastern countries. It has been well researched and the author is very familiar with the conflicts that occur daily in these places.

The plot concerns the leader, Corban Dowler of C.O.I.L., the Commission of International Laborers, which is a non-political, Christian organization dedicated to providing Christian supplies (bibles, pamphlets, hymnals, prayer leaflets, etc.) to people in countries who are persecuted because of their Christian beliefs. They also send volunteer missionaries to these countries, and attempt to rescue those who are imprisoned and in danger of death because of their beliefs. To kill another human is not in their mandate, so they use several ingenious methods of dealing with their foes that are non-lethal, such as fast acting nerve serums on darts, gum with similar paralyzing effects and cigarettes with chemicals in them. Their guns have only pellets with nerve gas in them that release their fumes on impact (similar to a paint-ball gun), causing their foe to become unconscious for twenty minutes or so. This allows them to be bound and gagged so they can carry out their orders, whatever they happen to be. A major drawback to their weapons of choice is that they need to get very close to their enemies in order for them to be effective, as they are not accurate from long range.

As part of their Christian beliefs (although not all so-called Christians believe or practice this) to avoid killing another human at practically any cost, their weapons are all non-lethal. Their biggest challenge is that their enemies do not have the same beliefs, and are ready, willing and have the capability and the weapons to kill the C.O.I.L. members whenever the opportunity presents itself. In fact, these are the orders given to several of their enemies and many are paid handsomely if they achieve the desired result. When engaging your enemy with non-lethal weapons (here, chew this piece of gum while I watch you pass out!) and the enemy has guns with bullets, bombs and knives, you are at a distinct disadvantage. The C.O.I.L. teams rely upon careful planning and the element of surprise, however they don’t always come away unscathed. Not all enemies are inept marksmen so they do get shot every once in a while, and many of their missionaries are killed before they can be rescued.

In Dark Liaison there are several story lines, however the author takes the time to explain each in enough detail so that you can easily follow each of them. Although they are all related to the central plot, you will find yourself wanting to get back to one of the sub-plots so you not only get to the outcome, but you also find out how they tie in together. If you are a fan of suspense and thriller novels, you will certainly enjoy the twists and planning that has gone into writing this book. I am not going to explain the plot in detail, but it involves the rescue of a Christian lady from a middle eastern prison, an assassination attempt, the kidnapping of a family and lots of bad guys passing out from various forms of nerve gas or serums. And as promised, our heroes do not get away without their fair share of bullet wounds and other injuries.

I would definitely recommend Dark Liaison to any fan of the spy/thriller/suspense genre. Whether you are Christian or not, this book has been very well written, researched and edited. The Christian aspect is certainly present but it is not overpowering and the book can be enjoyed as a suspense novel on it’s own merit. You may well guess that the good guys win out in the end, however I believe that is the case in all of the James Bond stories, so why should this be any different? I am certainly glad that i was approached to read this book, and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the C.O.I.L. series, Dark Hearted which is due out early in 2012.

Laughter and love,

Rick Fess

Set sail for a distant island with a young boy in search of a friend in this I-spy adventure. The rhyme and repetition encourage easy learning, and the surprise at the end will delight young readers. The book is suitable for little people to read alone for ages 4-7 or reading together, baby-4 years old. It’s a beautiful picture book written by Stella Blackstone with charming verse and gorgeous pastel illustrations by Nicoletta Ceccoli that truly depict sparkling ocean colors of blue, opaque turquoise and green. The full-page colorful illustrations of seascapes remind me of beautiful places in Greece or perhaps Italy.

In a spectacular seascape, a young boy sets sail for a distant island where he finds a special friend waiting for him. Who could it be? Young kids like surprises and the ending to this story is indeed a happy one. Children will delight in pointing out the animals and objects that the little boy spies along his journey.

Award-winning artist Nicoletta Ceccoli’s radiant illustrations spill off the pages with their dramatic ocean scenes and vibrant tropical hues. In 2003, An Island in the Sun received the Book of the Year Award Finalist, ForeWord Magazine.

What I like best about this book is its simplicity in nature’s vast visual, the ocean. Plus, the charming text of Stella Blackstone’s repeated verse of spotting familiar objects through a telescope. Whether you enjoy the sport of fishing or sailing or just leisurely strolling along the seashore picking up sea shells and then diving under one of the ocean’s waves, only to dry off on the sand laying in the warm of the sun… you’re sure to feel happy and content to have sailed to An Island in the Sun and have spent a fun-filled day at the beach. ***** stars.

“My husband left me and I feel all alone, can I still get my husband back?” Many wives have been asking this question on getting back their husbands. Is this still possible if the husband left for another woman? How about if the husband left and says he only wants to be friend?

Well, it is not uncommon for you to want your husband back after split up and I have seen many couples successfully got back together more loving. You should think long and hard about the way things were before the marriage became shaky.

Think about the problems in your marriage with your husband. What problems contributed to the break up? List down the things that you will do to improve on your situation. Another question to think of is, “do you know about his thinking and needs?”

Don’t be upset and get too desperate if he doesn’t show interest in getting back together. While this situation does make it harder for you to get back your husband, it is still possible to win his heart if you know how to open up the communication with him again. If he says it is better that both of you remain as friends, take a step back and let loose of the situation for time being.

When both of you are having enough space and time, both parties will naturally be able to calm down and think carefully about the marriage. Start your relationship with him all over again and learn how to know each other just like you have knew him only recently.

Once you get him onboard and willing to communicate with you freely, you can turn your situation around and get him back to your side.

Many wives will often think that this is the end of their marriage when the husband left them. It is normal to think this way, but you can still get your husband back when you follow the correct ways to change the problems.

Do you know what the latest development in wireless security cameras is?

The latest revolution in security cameras doesn’t involve the sensor or the lens, it involve the transmission signal.

Wireless security cameras are now going WiFi.

Looking at the latest technologies, it is no surprise that WiFi is welcomed in to this field. Many wireless surveillance cameras are now available to make any surveillance system highly efficient and functional.

A wireless security camera can perform many functions such as remote viewing, motion detection and recording, and the best of all is that it is battery operated.

To understand why wireless surveillance cameras have become so popular, you must first understand what WiFi stands for and its functions.

WiFi is short for wireless fidelity refers to a set of wireless networking technologies and more specifically referred to as any type of 802.11 network, 802.11b and 802.11a and dual band. The word WiFi was built by an organization named as WiFi alliance. A product that undergoes the WiFi alliance analyses is given the name WiFi certified.

WiFi is a wireless technology that handles the networking/communication between devices. WiFi is caused by Radio waves that are transmitted from an antenna and WiFi receivers pick them up. These signals are then broadcasted to the device with WiFi connection.

WiFi equipped consumer electronics range from automobiles, cameras, computers, camcorders, mobile phones, video games, GPS systems, DVD players, printers, and many more. Security cameras now have joined the growing list of WiFi devices. The reason is attributed to many homes now having WLAN (WiFi local area network). You would just have to connect the wireless security camera to the network to give coverage of wider areas.

In WiFi surveillance cameras, the video signals go over a wireless LAN and then to a video server or PC. You can install a WiFi surveillance camera much faster than a traditional wired security camera. Perhaps the biggest advantage is that the WiFi security camera can be remotely controlled by laptop or phone with Internet facility and the picture quality is uninterrupted. But the disadvantage lies in the security of the video transfer. If it is not encrypted, it can easily be tapped and create security problems.

How are WiFi surveillance cameras better than regular wireless RF security cameras?

RF wireless surveillance cameras use radio frequency wireless technology similar to some high-end cordless phones to transmit and receive wireless video signals. It has many advantages such as being mobile and can be set up anywhere. A major drawback of wireless RF security camera is that the radio signals used to transmit video can be interrupted by electric motored products such as AC, fluorescent lighting or cordless telephones which affect the picture quality.

Where should you use a WiFi surveillance camera?

A WiFi surveillance camera is made for indoor use, whether for a company or home use. It must be placed at locations with minimum RF interference.

What do resellers need to be wary of when listing WiFi surveillance cameras? As a seller of WiFi surveillance cameras, you must list the compatibility properties of these cameras with the different types of networks like 802.11b or 802.11g WiFi networks. This helps the customer make an informed decision and avoid unnecessary problems of refunds and returns. You become a trustworthy seller as opposed some sellers, who claim that the surveillance cameras are WiFi enabled but they use radio waves for wireless transmission and create network issues for the customer.

Nowadays thieves and frauds are attacking more on houses than on offices and shopping malls. The reason behind this is that, offices and malls are installing high end alarm and security systems so as to save their costly items from frauds. Even a small item cannot be taken out from the shop and even if anyone tries to do so, the security system will detect and the cameras will point out the person stealing the product.

High end security systems come with alarm systems, fire alarms and spy cams. The combination of these devices ensures that the particular area is not attacked by burglars and the belongings are saved. But if you want such security to your house then it might become a costly affair. If you try to install all these devices in your house, it will cost you more than installing normal burglar alarms. But to ensure hundred percent securities some people pay money and this amount is worth too. If you are looking for an alarm system for your house then there is no need to buy the spy cams as there is no need of cams in house. Only the combination of alarm devices and fire alarms is enough. Fire alarm is a compulsory device which you have to install in your house for hundred percent securities.

Even now high end burglar alarm systems are being easily cracked by thieves without making any noise. So it is your duty that you buy a genuine and working alarm system which will ensure full security and so do not think about money when it comes to save your costly things in house. The basic circuit of a burglar alarm system consists of electric wires, chips and sensors. The sensors senses any motion on the entry points and gives a loud sound by which the owner comes to know about the trespassing and can act accordingly. Most of these alarm systems are directly connected to nearest police station so that whenever any fraudulent activity is suspected, the police of that particular area will act as soon as possible making it possible to catch the burglar.

Do you think that your boyfriend is cheating on you? Do you want to be able to catch a cheating boyfriend, but you just need a way? Would you like to have the truth behind all of the lies? If you want to be able to catch a cheater, then I strongly urge you to use these 3 methods to find out once and for all if your boyfriend is cheating on you….

Step #1: Make a fake profile online- make sure it has photos, and is believable. Flirt with your boyfriend from there, and see his response. If he wants to talk more with you, asks for a phone number, more photos etc, then he is definitely not loyal to you and is probably sneaking around behind your back.

Step #2: Get one of your friends to flirt with your boyfriend. Since a man will often cheat on you with someone you actually know, having one of your friends that you trust do this is a very good way to test the waters! You can either have her text him or call him and flirt, and if he has a positive response, you will know then that he is a cheater.

Step #3: Use reverse phone lookup to find out who he is talking to- collect all of the numbers from his cell phone, either by taking what is there already, using a cell phone spy to get deleted data, or pressing *69 to get the last number dialed. Once you have all the numbers, enter them into the reverse phone lookup, and it will tell you the name, address and other information of the person whose number it is.

Jorge Luis Borges is an acclaimed author of Latin American Fiction. He is known for the style of presenting his works through the literary device of magic realism. Throughout his works, he is fascinated with incoherent magical gaze of time, the multiple realities existing in labyrinths and he is adept to write commentaries on imaginary books which do not exist.

In the Garden of Forking Paths, the protagonist is a spy and the story is written on the backdrop of World War 1. His task is to transmit a secret message to his German counterparts. He is being pursued by Madden. He takes a journey by train to the house the renowned Sinologist Dr. Stephen Albert. There the discussion revolves around an unfinished book written by the Father of the protagonist. In the book multiple plots exist. For example: in one situation a man is a friend and in another an enemy and then rivals meet and shoot each other and then escape. The surprising part of the story is that the protagonist shoots Albert and then gets arrested by Madden. Borges reveals in the end that he is able to deliver secret of the bombing of a certain town by the Germans.

The narrative structure of the story is a straight forward one, going from the beginning to the end. The story follows the traditional lines of storytelling. The plot is not a very convincing one and reveals the struggle of the literary author to create it.

The protagonist who is a spy rather than being true his tradition is portrayed as a person who is interested in Literature. He is constantly contemplating about and incoherent manuscript of his ancestor, a created labyrinth. The author’s interest in labyrinths is a paradoxical fictional ambiguity. Is there a ‘trace’ of meaning when one over throws or delves into the semantic structure of meaning. One comes to the emptiness of sign and what alone rests is a literary adornment. The writing of the authors resembles more of a commentary than a work of fiction.

The meaning of time is contemplated fictionally. Borges attributes multiple conjectures of time. First of all, there’s time in the book which is linear one. Then there are many time zones of fiction where time is a made into an antic comic gesture of literary playfulness. For Borges, time is like Zeno’s arrow, though moving, is stationary at every path. Yes, Borges has given to us the literary aspect of time, the internalized one that revolves around the ontology of being a human one of experiences. The time of Borges resembles that of the surreal painter Dali’s melting clocks.

Though not many tropes are created, Borges goes to the extent of suggesting the metaphor. The whole story revolves around the symbolism of a metaphor. People, birds, sun rise, labyrinths and even time become metaphoric intrusions of the author’s creativity. The story becomes an imaginary encyclopedia where fictional space is imaginary as well as resting on an exaggerated hyperbole of the real.
