How Foster Care Makes a Difference for the Child and the Foster Parent

Hundreds of thousands of children are placed in foster care each year because of abuse, neglect, death or incarceration of a parent, or behavioral problems among many other sad situations. They need the time and effort of several committed adults in order to grow and thrive.

Though this may sound daunting, there are plenty of advantages for the child and the foster parent. Before considering fostering, one should consider all the ins and outs of the experience and make sure that everyone in the household is on board.

Beneficial for the Entire Family

Contrary to what many believe, foster care doesn’t just benefit the child in need. Everyone in the household can grow and learn from the experience. There are plenty of quotes on “making a difference in a child’s life” and they are all too true. Just knowing that one has made an impact has tremendous effects in the life of the foster parent.

Though it can be hard to let go, and this should be noted. Many foster parents are those who cannot have children of their own, so in a short-term situation after they’ve bonded with the child seeing them go can be heart-wrenching. It’s something foster carers should keep in mind and be prepared for.

On the flip side, if the carers are looking to adopt, often times the agency will place a long-term child with them, knowing it could lead to adoption. Carers go through an extensive assessment in order to have the right child placed in their care.

Safe and Secure

For these kids, a stable and secure environment is just what they need to succeed. Being taken from their parents, family, friends and a home they were accustomed to is very rough for them. Because the goal is to reunite the child, the foster carer should be willing to provide what they need in the meantime. This includes physically and psychologically, preparing them for the next step, and understanding their situation.

Knowing that one has provided this, and helped not only the child but their parents and family to be reunited in love and understanding is a wonderful feeling.

Academic Benefits

In most cases, children who come from an unstable household are falling behind in school. When they enter a stable location, they have minimal worries and can focus on their education.

This is especially true when the foster carer has time to devote to homework and academic encouragement. Many children are very concerned with what’s going on at home be it fighting, poverty or other drama that no child should have to face.

One benefit that is proven through foster care is that most children begin to succeed academically, and the time away can help them focus and get back in the game as far as school successes.

Consider Fostering

Regardless of one’s reason for wanting to foster a child, they have a wealth of resources in order to research whether it’d be a good fit for their lifestyle. A child’s well-being is not to be taken lightly, but if a person can offer a safe, warm and nurturing environment either short or long-term, then they can make a difference.

Though children are placed each day, there are thousands that are still in the system and waiting for someone to open their homes and hearts.

The Peterboro Basket Company – 150 Years of Basket Weaving

#FreelanceWebDesigner #WebDeveloper #WebDesigner

As one of the leading manufacturers of hand crafted wooden baskets, Peterboro Basket Company has established a reputation of high quality among basket enthusiasts. The company is located in Peterborough, New Hampshire and has been in business for over one hundred and fifty years.

One of the founders of this company was Amzi Childs who came originally from Deerfield, Massachusetts. He arrived in Peterborough in 1841 to manufacture lead pipe. Meanwhile, a man by the name of Moses Chapman had erected a building in 1830 that served as a wheelwright shop. Along with a man named Asa Henry, Childs began to weave baskets in the wheelwright shop from 1851 until 1891. In that year, the basket business burned, and was later sold to the McLane Basket Factory that was located in Milford. The Peterborough business was moved there as well.

One of the foremen at Child’s factory was named Henry B. Needham. He had worked at the plant for fifteen years when the fateful fire occurred. After the business was moved to Milford, Needham established his own basket business, the Needham Basket Factory, in Peterborough in part of the White Machine Shop. Two years later, in 1893, Needham built a new building of his own.

His business began to boom, and in 1916 his business was incorporated and became the H.B. Needham Basket Company. In 1920, this company was reorganized to build a new building and was reunited with the Milford company. In 1926, tragedy struck for a second time as the new building of the H. B. Needham Basket Company also burned. The company was reorganized again, and became the present day Peterboro Basket Company.

Today, the business is still family owned and operated, and employs a large number of Peterborough’s Cambodian population. The company also has the Peterboro Factory Outlet Store that is housed at the same site that the manufacturing facility is. Inside, a team of artisans craft these homemade baskets with the same care that Amzi Childs did. Unlike other basket companies such as the Longaberger Basket Company, the Peterboro Basket Company does not offer tours of their facility due to insurance requirements. The company does, however, offer a video that shows the process in which these baskets are made.

The Peterboro Basket Company offers a variety of baskets for every occasion. Their most popular items include a beautiful knitting basket. This item has a lid and solid legs built onto the bottom that allows you to set these baskets anywhere that you are planning to work. Measuring 17″L x 11 ½”W x 13″H and costing $59.95, this basket can be a useful addition to any household.

Another popular item that is available from the Peterboro Basket Company is the Peterboro Traditional Magazine / Storage basket. This item is the largest in the Peterborough line and allows for easy carrying due to the presence of two swing handles. This model also has two legs that are on the bottom that are crafted from Appalachian White Ash. Measuring 20″ L x 12″W x 11’H and costing $39.95, this basket can be used for storing magazines or for toting a huge picnic lunch to your favorite park or beach.

Christian Pen Pals

Pen pals are people who correspond on a regular basis by writing letters even may be to a different country. Pen pals are grouped into various categories. One such category of pen pals is Christian pen pals. There are many clubs of Christian pen pals. Christian pen pals may correspond through post mail or online. If people want to initiate contact with Christian pen pals, it is advisable for them to get membership online instead of putting up various advertisements. This is the easiest way for Christian pen pals to correspond with each other.

At present, Christian pen pal clubs are generally based online. It is advisable for the people interested in these clubs to get membership online by registering on the sites available. By registering on these sites, people are protected from spam mail. This was a major issue with most Christian pen pal clubs on the web.

In case, a member forwards any ungodly mails the recipient of the mail is expected to forward it to the section that deals with such sort of abuse. A special section deals with abuse and ungodly mails. In this case, the member will be warned or banned. This club of Christian pen pals sends only those messages or letters that are solely related to the religion, its norms, and the Bible. For people to attain membership in these Internet clubs, they have to pay a registration fee. To get registered on these sites they can pay by credit card. This is the most convenient way to pay on the web. These clubs permit more than one person on a single membership fee. They offer a family discount as well. These sites provide a poverty affidavit. This option is for the people who cannot afford paying the fee. Under this affidavit, these people attain free membership.

There are other ways by which people can become members of Christian pen pal clubs. They can apply through newspapers and magazines. Christian pen pal clubs still exist today, even with the rapid pace of technological development.

How to Avoid Crisis – Breakdown Before Breakthrough

I have noticed that often humans have to go through breakdown before their behavior is changed for the better. Why is that? I believe it is because we are not likely to change if we are comfortable or unaware. Unfortunately, it often takes a crisis to wake us up.

My client Gladys, a 55-year-old woman, was living a very stressful life. She did not sleep well, ate whatever she wanted, and took her children to any classes or events they wanted to go, without considering herself. Her wake-up call was cancer.

After many painful, scary months of medical treatment and counseling, Gladys changed her diet, took much better care of herself, and did more of what she loved to do. Of course, she was terrified to die or get cancer again. However, I told her that if she learned from her crisis, she did not need another wake-up call.

Gladys recovered in a shorter time than the doctors predicted and is still cancer free. She became conscious of how to take care of her body and reduce her stress.

Melinda, a 60-year-old professional, was struggling for many years in her relationship. In fact, she came to me very depressed after she discovered her partner was having an affair, and he had moved out.

I helped Melinda raise her self-esteem, and deal with her anger constructively. We also practiced saying her truth in a loving way. She then reunited with her partner and they are doing well. It took the break-up for her to work on her issues. and learn what it takes to maintain a loving relationship–high self-esteem and good communication.

When I had visited my friend Larry, a 48-year-old man, I noticed that he had gained a lot of weight, ate whatever he wanted, and was eating large amounts of cream and sugar in his coffee. Larry thought it was funny how I would avoid those and other things in my diet. He was also very stressed about his work.

A few years later, Larry needed major heart surgery. He is now being conscious of what he must do to maintain a healthy body. It took his crisis to make the changes to his diet, exercise more, and think positive.

To wake-up before you have a crisis, I suggest that you learn what foods are healthy for you, exercise appropriately for your age and physical condition, make sure that you are sleeping 7-8 hours a night, and let go of whatever is causing you stress in your life. Also, learn how to release negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones. You do have the power to stay healthy and safe.

Renaissance Science and Education’s Cult of Fear

Maria Montessori, the molecular biologist Sir C P Snow and the engineer Buckminster Fuller, warned that modern science must be reunited with the Classical Greek life science Humanities in order to prevent the destruction of civilization. They stressed that the obstacle preventing this was an inadequate understanding of the second law of thermodynamics. Fuller balanced that law with his synergetic biological energy derived from the Classical Greek world view. Fullerene fractal logic has now been used to establish a new life science in defiance of the present fixed world view. Fuller considered that the catalyst for avoiding oblivion would be via the Arts. It can be argued that the Western educational system is actually preventing the new balanced understanding of the second law, which Montessori referred to as the greed energy law, by employing a culture of fear, in particular concerning the second law of thermodynamics.

Firstly, the existence of a more general culture of fear within the Australian educational system is now a common knowledge concept. Leading up to the June, 2010, removal of the Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, allegations of organized greed within the educational system concerning billions of dollars allocated for the construction of school buildings were continually reported by the national newspaper, The Australian. On June 30th a front page story reported that a 14 million dollar task force established to investigate the issue was unlikely to hear complaints about the schools stimulus program from 110 NSW principals. The investigation team could not offer those principals “anonymity” and they were consequently silenced by a “culture of fear”, emanating from the NSW Education department.

Secondly, a far more serious aspect of coercion within the Australian educational system was alluded to within a Higher Education article published by The Australian on March 8th 2006, entitled ‘Muzzling of Science’, written by Professor Julian Cribb, Editor of the R&D REVIEW at the University of Technology in Sydney. Professor Cribb wrote “Publish or perish used to be the mantra by which the researcher lived or died. Today, according to an increasing number of eminent scientists in unpopular fields, Australian researchers can do both”. He defined ‘unpopular’ as “any of those fields of science liable to produce evidence unsettling to the fixed world-view held by governments, business, special interest lobbies or that most anonymous and unaccountable of research controllers, the stakeholders”. Professor Cribb explained how reprisals were being enforced, noting that once enacted, it is hard in science to find another job that isn’t in a taxi.

The second complaint about a culture of fear within the Australian educational system is directly relevant to the second law of thermodynamics because that law entirely governs the fixed world view controlling university education in Australia. In 1996 the Australian government was taken to task in an Open Letter to the United Nations Secretariat for committing crimes against humanity because of that fact. A several year peer review investigation by the United Nations University Millennium Project, Australasian Node, resulted in a official endorsement of that complaint on September 5th, 2006.

The expenditure of 14 million dollars in Australia to investigate general greed allegations within the educational system is a paltry figure compared to the tens of millions of pounds sterling spent in England attempting to discover new technologies from Sir Isaac Newton’s unpublished more profound physics principles to balance the mechanical description of the universe. Newton’s balanced world view was in defiance of the present fixed world view. Classification of the balancing physics principles as a criminal heresy by some people can be considered as part of the fear culture that will not tolerate challenges to the present fixed world view, which is governed by what Montessori called the greed energy law.

The growing unsettling evidence supporting numerous challenges to the fixed world view’s understanding of the second law of thermodynamics can be considered to represent an attempt to bridge Sir C P Snow’s widening culture gap between modern entropic science and the negentropic life science of the Classical Greek Humanities. From the evidence presented within this article we might well consider Buckminster Fuller’s consideration justifiable, that it will be up to the artistic creative thinkers of the world to prevent

the unbalanced second law bringing about the destruction of civilization.

Gaining weight is very easy while losing weight is very hard and complicated. To inspire you my dearest readers, I will share to you a weight loss success stories before and after of some of my friends. Their stories will help you get motivated to lose weight and to stay fit and healthy.

REUNITED LOVE OF EMMA

Emma has shown me that having a fat body can really turn around. She made a remarkable transformation from being fat to fit. You just have to bring the proper ingredients then you’ll get the remarkable result. So what are the ingredients by the way? You’ll find the ingredients to one of my friends who experienced weight loss success story before and after.

BEFORE

During her college days, she was pretty and sexy. After graduating, she immediately got married. When she got pregnant, she ate a lot of food. I mean a lot. After the pregnancy, she gained weight. From 143 lbs., she gained 44 lbs. She never noticed her weight gain because she was busy taking care of her daughter. She was happy by that time. One day, their family decided to go to the beach and have fun. They took pictures, swim, and enjoyed the heat of the sun. When they finally got home, Emma viewed their pictures. She was shocked to see her once sexy body turned into a not so sexy body. She deleted the photos. Not only that, her husband suddenly went a bit cold to her. Later on, she found out that her husband was cheating on her. Emma felt very sad and insecured. She wanted her husband back and she wanted her body back so badly.

DURING

Feeling so badly wounded and motivated to lose weight, Emma started to watch her diet. She started by eating small meals frequently, increasing her fibre diet and protein intake, as well as lowering her fat intake. After wards, she also started exercising by doing brisk walking every morning for about 40 minutes per day. She also included aerobics in her routine as a cardio workout. Every week, Emma monitors her weight to check if she lost a pound or so. She became so conscious with herself and she wanted to be fit, healthy and sexy once again. Her motivation was so strong that he made it through all the way. Her very heavy 187 lbs weight became 143 lbs now.

AFTER

After the vigorous exercise and strict diet, Emma achieved her target body. Her strong will to change as well as her great deal of discipline made her body ever sexier. Not only that, her husband noticed her beauty once again and they were reunited once again and much sweeter than ever.

REALIZATIONS

The ingredients in Emma’s weight loss story were having a proper diet plus exercise. But don’t forget the most important ingredient is dedication. A great deal of dedication and perseverance is really needed to attain your goals. That is the largest factor in weight loss. No matter what happens, you have to be strict in following it and never give up. By following those ingredients, maybe, you will be the next one to share your weight loss success stories before and after.

Home Schooling – A Lifestyle Adventure – A Novel Review of Serena’s Serenity

Are you a head-over-heels home schooling, mountain climbing mom? Maybe you’re a mother-or possibly a grandma-of one or two preschoolers. Perhaps you are a career woman and desire to be a stay at home mom. You may even be a young lady facing a bright, uncharted future. Are you a grieving parent over a sick child or an empty place at your table?

Serena’s Serenity will surprise you! This is a crisp, modern novel for all comprehending age groups. You’ll feel for Serena as she sobs over her daughter’s grave. Maybe you will cheer her on as she works under a difficult boss. If you’ve ever had financial struggles, this easy-to-read format will catch your sympathetic eye as you “watch” Serena improvise to make ends meet in order to be reunited with her twin daughters. How agonizing it is for Serena, as a home schooling mom, to be kept from that special task of making new memories every day with her children.

We all have dreams. Join Serena at the suspenseful piano competition in New York City and applaud at the duo announcements. Will her cherished lifestyle be reclaimed? If you aren’t a home schooler, you will discover in a fun way some of the technicalities behind the scenes. Serena isn’t alone as the chapters progress, either. There are several other key characters’ lives in which you’ll become engrossed with as well.

How thrilled I’ll be if you are as encouraged by my heartfelt book as I have been through the years by Janette Oke’s and Laura Ingalls Wilder’s series. Laura and her sisters were often home schooled though it wasn’t worded so in their day. Isabella Macdonald Alden, the instrumental aunt in Grace Livingston Hill’s early developing career, also had a positive influence on me throughout my teenage years. Mrs. Alden’s pen name was “Pansy.” The history I like best about her was that she was born in Rochester, New York… where I grew up…and was often home schooled by her father. Her mother was Myra Spafford Macdonald, the daughter of Horatio Gates Spafford. Mrs. Alden’s grandfather is best known for penning the hymn “It Is Well With My Soul” after his four girls were drowned at sea-only his wife having survived.

Belle married Pastor Alden in New York and continued to write about characters who were unswervingly committed to following Christ. Also a teacher in the Chautauqua assemblies, this author served as a role model to me. May this information edify you to treat the “rocks” in your “road” of goals as “stepping stones.” II Corinthians 4:7 says, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”

As another author/preacher whom I respect said, “God doesn’t want special people with special powers. He just wants ordinary saved sinners that God loves that are willing to minister-not lifted to heights of pride because we’re so spiritual! We must glorify Christ, not us.” May Serena’s Serenity serve to do just that. Frequently, we as humans become too absorbed in our own lives than to think about others in positive ways. I trust that you’ll be refreshed to keep on keeping on.

I’m grateful to be a home schooling mom as pioneering women have been down through the centuries. Have you ever studied out how famous Presidents had been taught at home? What an avenue for Christian parenting to develop the wonder in children’s lives!

Because of Christ,

Mrs. Lisa Moravek, authoress

Q & A: Reuniting With a Lost Love

>1. Who are the prime candidates to rekindle a romance?

The most successful rekindled romances were lost lovers who had been 17 or

younger at the time of the initial romance — first loves — and had separated for

situational reasons, like “parents disapproved,” “moved away.” “went off to college,”

etc. Age of the couples didn’t matter — if they were 18 or 95, the romance worked

the second time. In fact, the older they were for the reunion, the better their

chances of success.

>2. Is Lost & Found Love successful the second time around?

Yes! In my sample of 2000 people worldwide, ages 18 to 95, 72% of them reported

that they are “still together” with their lost and found lover. And these weren’t just

“good” romances; these were wildly sexual, soul mate reunions. Absence really does

make the heart grow fonder!

>3. What if the couples had been “first loves”?

First loves had the highest “stay together” rate — 78% are happily reunited, and

remain blissfully in love over their many years of marriage.

>4. Are rekindled romances more intense than other loves?

Yes. I asked participants to rate the emotional involvement of the rekindled

romance, as compared to all their other loves in the past, and 71% of them said that

this was their most intense romance of all. Additionally, 61% of the participants said

that the rekindled romance started faster than any other romance in the past, and

that the sexual involvement was the BEST (63%).

>5. Why does rekindled love endure?

The couples grew up together, they spent their formative years together, and many

of the first loves reported that the lost love became “the standard” for all their other

romances. They knew each other well – they attended classes together, knew each

other’s families and friends, shared roots and values. It is these similarities that

form the strength of the bond. These romances are, at their heart, friendships as

well as romances.

>6. Isn’t there some research that suggests that this love might have a biological

component?

Yes. Remember that expression used for teenagers, “ranging hormones?” When

teens are in love for the first time, hormones like oxytocin and vassopressin are

released when the sweethearts are sexually excited. These chemicals form

emotional memories in the brain, stored in an area called the amygdala. When the

lost lovers meet again, those memories are released by the familar sight, smell,

touch, sound of the long lost lover. The feelings are comforting and familiar and

also very sexually arousing!

>7. Why should this book be “required reading” for parents of adolescents?

The most common reason why these romances broke up the first time was “parents

disapproved.” Not only disapproved — many of these couples were forcefully

broken apart by the parents, with threats to their children, or manipulations such as

hiding letters from the sweetheart. When these couples reunited, they were very

bitter and angry at their parents (dead or alive) for costing them many years when

they could have been happily together. Many missed their childbearing years

because of this breakup. And why did the parents react that way? They just “didn’t

like the person” their child was dating.

I checked to see how these couples fared a second time; ie, if the parents broke

them apart, were the parents “right” and they broke up a second time? Half of the

time, they broke up again, and half of the time they stayed happily together. And

they is no way to predict, no way for parents to know what’s right for their children.

It should make parents think twice before they break up first loves.

>8. What can teenagers learn from this book?

I hear from a lot of teenagers, males and females, who are broken-hearted because

their first loves just “dumped” them. Some say they are suicidal. From my research,

we learn that these are true loves, important loves, that should not be belittled. And

teens should be comforted by the fact that the breakup may not be forever. The first

love might comes back some day. Don’t sit around and wait for that, but keep it in

the back of your heart as hope for the future.

>9. Instead of reconnecting with a lost love, what about finding a long lost friend?

It’s really the same thing. In fact, many of my couples really weren’t in romances the

first time. They were just friends — sometimes very young friends, like 8 or 9 year

olds. The shared roots are the important part; old friends make us feel comfortable

and we can talk about old times. It’s very healing to reunite.

>10. Is there anyone who should avoid seeking a Lost Love?

Yes. If one or both members of the couple are married to someone else. don’t go

there! Don’t even look up the person to say hello. Even good marriages were put in

jeopardy by lost loves. The people just didn’t realize that the feelings come back

VERY strongly.

And if the person was abusive in any way the first time, forget a reunion.

Personalities don’t change. The couples in my study who succeeded with a happy

reunion had been situationally pulled apart the first time; they did NOT check the

box “we weren’t getting along well.”

>11. What is your first piece of advice to anyone who is considering finding a lost

love?

These are very intense romances. Before you begin any dialogue with a lost love, ask

yourself if you could handle whatever occurred — a rejection, a romance, another

breakup with that person. If the answer to any of these is “no,” it’s best not to try.

But if you are single, divorced, or widowed, it might be the best thing that ever

happened to you.

Creed The Bass Player’s Best Observations From The Office Sitcom

Since the show aired its final episode nearly five years ago, both the actor and his fictional character have reunited with his old band. The group in fact just played most of their classic hits at a local venue, where many in the crowd were much younger than one would expect for a band that last had a Top Forty song almost fifty years ago.

Many of the milennials, I presume, had attended primarily to see the bass player, who is known to them as Creed. He became a familiar face while starring in The Office, a sitcom that ran for the first decade of this century.

Although the role was minor, Creed Bratton had some of the most memorable scenes during the show’s run. Therefore, the younger folks at that concert may not have been familiar with the Grass Roots hits like “Two Divided By Love” or “Midnight Confessions” or “Sooner or Later”, but most of them would very likely recognize these bits of dialogue from the man whose exact job in the office will forever remain a bit of a mystery.

Here are six of my favorite credos Of Creed, the unsung star in The Office.

Yum, smells like somebody’s making soup

Bratton uttered this remark after entering the work area where everyone had been nauseated by the malodorous surprise best friend Todd Packer had left on the floor for regional manager Michael Scott (played by Steve Carell).

He’s not carrying a wallet, I already checked

This observation came while sales agent Dwight Shrute (played by Rainn Wilson) was practicing CPR on a dummy, wondering aloud if the model was an organ donor.

This airs tonight? If my parents see this, I am toast

“A.A.R.M.” is the title of an episode from the last season, where Jim convinces Dwight that he needs to have an assistant to the assistant regional manager.

I run a small fake I.D. machine from my car with a laminating machine I swiped from the sheriff’s office

While the employees are reaching out to the youth of Scranton, a horde of teenagers seem to be very familiar with Creed for the reason he discloses in the above quote.

Just go right up and kiss her. Have I ever stood you wrong, Jim?

It would not have been good advice anyway, but here Creed is actually offering it to Andy and not Jim.

You ever notice you can only ooze two things, sexuality and pus

No one could ever clearly explain what led Creed to utter this observation, nor would most of us really want to find out.
