How To Remove Red Stains From Your Carpet

Removing red stains isn’t easy and they don’t always come out even with proper cleaning, but here is your best chance for ridding yourself of these unsightly monsters.

To remove red stains, you need some lemon ammonia, white terry cloth towels and a clothes iron. With the carpet still dry, apply enough lemon ammonia to completely cover the red stain. Using a spray bottle to apply the ammonia works best.

Take your white towel and completely saturate it with cold water and wring out some of the excess water. Place the towel over the red stain and apply the iron to the top of the towel for about 20 seconds.

Lift up towel to see if the red stain has faded in color, if it has, spray more lemon ammonia to the stain, wet your towel again and apply the iron to the top of the towel. Make sure that the towel is larger than the face of the clothes iron to prevent your carpet being burnt.

If after two or three times, the red stain hasn’t faded in color, then you will not be able to remove the stain from the carpet, you best solution would be to have the stain repaired with a new piece of carpet.

If the stain does fade and is mostly removed, it would be a good idea to rinse the carpet with clean water and blot it with a dry towel. Do this a few times to remove as much of the ammonia residue as you can.

Never apply the iron for longer than 30 seconds at a time, especially if the carpet is light in color or it is a berber carpet. Hopefully this will help you to remove your red stains and make your carpet and home look better.

How to Remove Spyware and Adware

What is spyware and adware?

Spyware serves as a major type of malicious software that can secretly download and install itself on computers as a legitimate component hidden in freeware or shareware applications and attempts to capture personally identifiable or other sensitive information about you on purpose to transmit it to the third party, generally without providing you with adequate notice, consent, or control. Sometimes, however, spywares such as keyloggers are installed by the owner of a shared, corporate, or public computer on purpose to secretly monitors the computing and extend well beyond simple monitoring. Spyware programs intends to gain illegal profits through tracking your Web browser activity to gather various types of personal information, such as Internet surfing habits, passwords of email addresses, ID codes and credit card numbers, sites that have been visited.

Adware, which is also known as advertising-supported software, is an Internet jargon used to represent the hidden file combined with a host application that is provided at no charge as long as the user agrees to accept and automatically and secretly displays, downloads and installs advertisements to a computer for tracking the shopping and surfing habits of users. Adware may add mysterious links to your favorites and desktop, or often generate your home page and your search engine to sites that earn income from various advertisers without appropriately obtaining your consent. This income is dependent on the amount of people visit the adware site, or the amount of people click on the links or advertisements at the site. Adware may not hurt your PC by itself but it is regarded as a nuisance when it pops up. Adware can infect your PC through slowing your PC to a sluggish crawl by secretly using RAM and CPU cycles, slowing your Internet connection by using bandwidth to retrieve advertisements, increasing the instability of your system because many adware applications are not programmed well.

How to remove spyware and adware?

1. Use an antispyware scanner and removal tool

In response to the widespread of spyware and adware around the prosperous online market in cyberspace, more and more computer technicians with some extensive knowledge of commercially-available anti-virus and firewall software enter the spyware removal tool industry on purpose to solve the problem. A powerful and reliable spyware removal tool comes with comprehensive and customizable solution to quickly find out and permanently remove any spyware, adware and other unwanted programs that is known to change and modify computer settings, resulting in deteriorate system performance, slow connection speeds, strange home pages, mysterious error messages, display annoying pop-up ads, change Internet settings, or track and apply your private information without your consent.

2. Update Your Spyware Removal Tool Daily

To update your spyware removal tool daily proves to be a crucial part for effectively keeping spyware and adware at bay due to the fact that the spyware and adware producers apply their extensive knowledge about spyware removal tool to develop their “product”. To keep your spyware removal tool up-to-date, can also say that, to updates your antivirus program database. When you open your spyware removal tool to look for a button or tab to update the spyware database and do this on a regular monthly basis before scanning your system.

3. Turn off System Restore.

Before taking actions to clean out the spyware and adware in your PC, you should turn off the system restore on purpose to prevent your PC from infecting again. To turn System Restore off, follow these steps:

1. Click the Start button, right-click on Computer, and then go to Properties.

2. In the left pane, click System Protection. If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

When you visit websites, beware of the applications or pop-up they want you to download. Almost all of the freeware and shareware applications come with license agreements. To effectively keep any spyware, adware or some other unwanted files at bay, you should read the license agreement as careful as you can because it may infiltrate into your system through your acceptation of license agreement.

How to Remove Corrosion From Stained Glass

Corrosion on stained glass is commonly referred to as white mold. It appears on the lead or solder lines, leaving the stained glass piece spotted and unattractive. The corrosion or white mold is frequently the result of flux residue that was not thoroughly removed.

One method used to remove the corrosion is to scrub the art glass piece with cleanser. This will remove the corrosion, but it may also cause scratches on the glass.

The best way I have found for removing the corrosion is to use baking soda. Baking soda is not as abrasive as cleanser and will not scratch the glass.

You will need a small scrub brush or very fine steel wool. First dampen the scrub brush or steel wool with water. Then liberally sprinkle baking soda over the piece. Using the dampened scrub brush or steel wool, scrub the glass piece vertically, horizontally and in a circular motion.

Once all the corrosion has been scrubbed off, thoroughly rinse off the baking soda and dry the art glass piece. If the piece had a patina finish, you may have to re-patina the piece. This will depend on how much corrosion had accumulation on the piece.

After the piece is completely dry, use a finishing compound to protect and polish the art glass piece.

This process works very well, though it takes time, work and reapplying finishes. If you have a stained glass piece with corrosion, you really do not have a choice. For future reference, you can avoid corrosion from occurring by properly removing flux when constructing your next piece.

The common cause of corrosion is flux. Never leave flux on a piece for more than a few hours. There are a variety of commercial flux removers that you can use. Be sure to follow manufacturers’ directions.

I have found CJ’s to be a good commercial flux remover. Following manufacturers’ directions, I liberally spray CJ’s on one side of the glass piece. Using a soft scrub brush, I scrub the glass in a circular motion, then, rinse the piece with water. Then, following the same procedure, do the other side.

Using baking soda and dish soap is an alternative for commercial flux removers. First, sprinkle the piece with baking soda, then apply a small amount of dish soap to the piece. With a soft, damp scrub brush use a circular motion to scrub the piece. Rinse with water and then do the other side.

After the piece has been cleaned and rinsed with water, pat the piece dry with a soft clean cloth and let it air dry. Once it is completely dry, patina can be applied. The last step is to apply finishing compound to both sides.

Do not rush the cleaning and finishing. A good cleaning and finishing will save you time, work and expense later.

Blood, fluids, chemicals and solvents, ink stains and the daily special from the cafeteria, are common sources of frustration when they wind up on garments. Having to replace permanently stained specialty garments can be very costly, as can dry cleaning.

Here are some of the most common stains and instructions for removing them. Most stains respond best when treated immediately, if time permits, but the reality of working in a hectic, fast-paced environment means that stain treatment usually happens at home. The supplies used are readily available at drug stores and in clinical settings.

Blood, vomit, bodily fluids, meat-based soups – Since they are protein based, this category of stains responds best when treated immediately. Blot as much of the stain with an absorbent paper towel/tissue as possible. Place additional absorbent material underneath garment.

1. Moisten sponge or cotton ball with enzyme-based cleaner such as Biz Bleach, apply and leave for 30 minutes then flush with water

2. Next, flush with ammonia/water solution (1 tbsp/1 cup), flush with water and blot.

3. Follow with white vinegar/water mixture (1:2 ratio) flush and blot.

4. For additional removal or extra whitening, apply bleach with hydrogen peroxide (3%) using a medicine dropper, add a drop of ammonia solution then flush with water before adding to the regular laundry cycle.

Pen ink stains

2. Applying firm pressure, blot stain.

3. Continue to blot as long as ink transfers to blotter, while keeping stained area moist with glycerine.

4. Flush with water.

5. Apply mild detergent solution (liquid hand soap/water) with several drops of ammonia. Continue to blot and flush with water.

6. If stain persists, apply chlorine bleach with dropper. (DO NOT allow bleach to remain more than 2 minutes)

7. Rinse with water after each bleach cycle and use white vinegar solution to remove excess chlorine from bleach, followed by a flush with water.

Mustard

1. Remove excess mustard, being careful not to smear stain

2. Apply liquid hand soap/water solution with dropper then blot.

3. Apply vinegar/water solution (1:2) then blot again.

4. With dropper, apply enzyme-based cleaner solution (Biz Bleach, ½ tsp. to 1 cup warm water), blot then flush with water.

5. Apply bleach with dropper to dissolve last traces of mustard. (DO NOT allow bleach to remain more than 2 minutes)

6. Rinse with water after each bleach application.

7. Apply white vinegar solution to remove excess bleach, then flush with water.

Lipstick

1. Apply paint, oil and grease remover (available at hardware stores) or dry cleaning solution, if accessible. Blot then repeat the cycle as long as stain is being removed.

Be careful not to spread the stain or to reapply to fabric (use clean blotter each time).

2. Apply detergent solution with dropper and add a few drops of ammonia. Tamp with brush then blot and flush with water.

3. Next apply detergent solution with dropper and a few drops of white vinegar. Tamp with brush then blot and flush with water. Allow area to dry.

4. Sponge with alcohol.

5. Apply bleach solution with dropper to remove last traces of stain. Follow each bleach application with a water flush. Apply vinegar solution to remove excess chlorine from bleach, then flush with water before adding to laundry.

So the next time you get a spill or stain on your labcoat or uniform, don’t fret, just following these simple instructions to keep your uniforms clean!

Total Body Detox – How to Remove THC From Your Body?

Tetrahydro cannabinol or THC is a nerve toxin that is mainly a component of marijuana. The component is extremely dangerous for one’s health and is equally tough to remove from the system as it attaches itself to the fat cells in the body. The component can cause severe mutations in the cells that it comes in contact with and is better removed from the system as early as possible. Here is how one can get rid of the THC deposits:

1. Quit The Life Threatening Drug

Marijuana addiction for sure has its ill-impacts on the system. The most common THC induced problems for the health include speech difficulties, a rapid heart rate, paranoia and even death in extreme cases. The best way out is to quit marijuana intake altogether. While the addiction could not be so easy to quick for all, THC removal is the best precautionary step one can take.

2. Undergo Colon Cleansing

A regular colon cleanse routine can detox the entire system and remove all traces of THC from within. Supplements meant to achieve that end are easily available at national retail brands like Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, and GNC. Pick these and get rid of the toxins at home. But you would need to repeat the process on a regular basis to keep the system cleansed.

3. Herbal Alternatives Would Be Of Greater Help

You would certainly not want to stuff your system with other chemicals in a bid to flush THC from your system. But opting for chemical supplements would spoil your system further. Go for herbal detox supplements then. Cranberry juice and water are the best natural detox options. Further supplements composed from 100% natural agents could do you a lot of good.

Colon cleansing is the best method to flush out all traces of THC from your system. The process removes other chemicals, parasites and wastes from the system too. Just be sure of getting hold of the best colon cleanse supplements and bidding goodbye to the harmful THC component would be a very simple task.

How to Remove Rust From Concrete

Your driveway and sidewalks are prime locations for rust stains to buildup. In many cases, if you were to use some form of driveway cleaner or rust cleaner. You would either have to settle for an industrial-grade acid that, more often than not, damages everything on its tracks.

Trying to remove rust stains from concrete can be frustrating especially if they’ve been there for quite a while. Oxalic acid has been proven successful for eliminating most rust spots. There are also some household cleaners such as “ZUD” and “Bar Keepers Friend” that contain oxalic acid.

Here’s how to remove rust stains from cement using oxalic acid:

Mix a pound of oxalic acid bleach with a gallon of water. But before using your homemade rust stain remover, make sure to place tarps or plastic coverings onto the areas near the driveway where water runoffs could occur. Oxalic acid bleach tends to kill the vegetation it comes in contact with.

With the protective coverings in place, dip a mop or large sponge into the bucket and wipe the oxalic acid bleach solution to remove rust stains on cement, whether it’s your driveway or an exterior of your home that needs cleaning.

Allow the solution to remain on the rust stains for two to three hours. This will provide more than enough time for the oxalic acid to remove rust stains from the cement. Then brush the affected areas with a stiff bristled brush or broom. Then rinse the treated area with a garden hose.

If there are still rust stains remaining, apply the oxalic acid bleach solution a second time onto the affected areas.

Finally, wet the concrete driveway with the garden hose and drop two to three drops of dish detergent onto the affected areas. Scrub the areas you’re treating with a broom, then rinse soap away with the garden hose.

But what if the oxalic acid doesn’t work? What are your options?

Then you can try using trisodium phosphate or TSP. This is a powder that can be found at most home improvement stores and paint stores. Mix half a cup of TSP with half a gallon of hot water, pour it over the stain and let it sit 15-20 minutes. Then scrub with a stiff bristled brush and rinse with water. Repeat the procedure a few times if necessary.

But if your attempts to remove rust stains from cement doesn’t bear fruit, then you can use an etching solution by mixing four (4) parts water to one (1) part muriatic acid as a last resort. Bear in mind that this method actually eats away the cement surface material. So you’re not actually cleaning the concrete, but removing the cement that the rust stain has bonded with.

Of course, this is just a last resort. When you remove some of the cement, the surface is weakened and becomes more susceptible to chipping and scaling. You can correct the situation by putting a coat of clear concrete sealer on the surface of the driveway.

It is highly recommended to exercise extreme caution with products that contain acid. Wear rubber gloves and safety goggles and keep clean water nearby in case of accidental splashes.

Inexpensive Skin Tag Removal at Home

Got a tag on your body but don’t want the expense of having it burned, frozen or cauterized off by a licensed professional? Well, the good news is that there are several ways to remove a skin tag at home inexpensively and all you have to lose is the time it may take. One word of warning though; removing a tag naturally, like using a home remedy, may take a few days to a couple months for it to work. The good news is that the only thing it will cost you is time and if you have the patience, then some of these remedies may be the solution to your skin tag problem.

How to remove a skin tag if you have absolutely no money

I personally don’t know how effective this is but have heard a lot of people who have tried it claim that it works. Duct tape. The procedure is simple. You simply cover the tag with duct tape every night and it eventually falls off.

The reason why this works is the adhesive in duct tape irritates the surrounding skin around the tag and it eventually forms a scab and falls off.

Another creative way (and one that some dermatologists actually recommend as an alternative to freezing or cutting the skin tag off) is taking a piece of string and tying it around the base of the tag. The tag needs blood flow to continue to grow. With this method, you are cutting off its need for existence. This route can take a couple days to a couple weeks to work.

Visio 2007 – Removing Text From Milestone Shapes in a Timeline

If you use Microsoft Visio to create a Timeline to give a visual representation of a project, you will normally include milestone shapes at significant key phases. Visio inserts dates automatically into the events and milestones in the timeline, but this is not always required.

Visio Timelines

Timelines can be created by choosing the Schedule template category and choosing metric or US units. They can be extremely useful where an overview is required rather than a detailed project plans. They are often given to non-technical people, or senior management panels to provide a clear visual indication of duration, events and significant phases within a project. I recently had an enquiry from somebody who had a timeline that was to be used more than once. Her situation was that the timeline would be used across several different markets, and at several different times, so although all the stages of the project would be identical in each case, the timings would not.

Protected Text

This lady had tried to remove the date label that Visio automatically inserted on the milestone shapes, but had met with a dialogue box telling her that due to shape protection and/or layer properties it was impossible to complete her request. She had tried several different methods of deleting this text, including using the backspace key to delete the text, opening the shape data window and even formatting the text, but eventually asked for our assistance. Luckily we were able to help.

The Shape Sheet

When Shape Protection prevents the editing of certain features it is often necessary to open the Shape Sheet, and this was the course of action we suggested. I told her to select the milestone shape on the timeline, and with the shape selected to click on the text label so that that became selected instead. With the label selected she went to the Window menu and clicked Show Shape Sheet to open the Shape Sheet in the bottom half of the window.

By scrolling down through the information held on the shape sheet she was able to find the Miscellaneous category. She searched through this category until she found the HideText command which has a TRUE/FALSE option beside it. The default is set to FALSE, but by double-clicking the cell containing the word she was able to open the drop down box and select TRUE. Pressing ENTER confirmed her selection and removed the text from the milestone shape. Once the change had been implemented, she was able to close the Shape Sheet window and was then able to use the timeline as she intended.
