Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless-Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set – A Comprehensive Review

As a keen amateur cook and frequent restaurant visitor, I give a lot of attention to the tools and equipment that chefs use in the kitchen. I believe that for households as well as top restaurants, superb quality cookware is needed to achieve the best possible quality of food. As a result, I’ve long searched for what is widely considered to be the best stainless steel cookware that I can use in my own kitchen – and I’m confident I’ve found it in the form of the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless-Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set.

Overview

Cuisinart has been producing the highest standard cookware in the industry for several years now. They are known for the elegant and contemporary design that they imbue in their products, and the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro is no exception to that. The stainless steel pots and pans have an attractive brushed finish on the exterior, while the interior is mirror polished to ensure no reaction of the metal on the food. The set is also equipped with the heat surround technology that is the signature of Cuisinart cookware – to ensure that ‘even’ cooking will be achieved each and every time.

What To Look For When Buying This Type of Product

As a cook with high standards, I only look for the best. The big question here is: what are the things to look for when buying stainless steel cookware?

Stainless steel cookware has to be:

• Highly durable

• Easy to clean

• Have superior heat transmission

• Possess solid handles

Features

The Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set has an aluminum core that provides the essential durability and build quality of this cookware set. The aluminum core ensures even levels of heating that will help the user reduce energy consumption – as heat is efficiently distributed to all parts of the pan and is regulated at the same time. The handles are solid stainless steel which ensures the pots and pans are easy to hold, giving you added balance as you transfer them from the stove to the oven and then to the dishwasher.

Another reason the Cuisinart MultiClad Cookware Set is THE premium cookware set to own is the excellent materials used in their construction – a hard wearing but non-stick combination of both stainless steel and aluminum. It’s hard to find durable cookware that is made of high grade materials these day, and with this set you can rest assured these finely made pieces will last you for many years. They are so well built you could even end up passing them on to the next generation.

The best feature of the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel Cookware Set is that it is easy to clean. No need to scrub too much the bottom of the pots and pans because the even distribution of heat ensures that no food sticks to the bottom that would be difficult to clean out.

The Price

Another good thing about this cookware set is that it can be bought at a very affordable price, making it an excellent investment for your kitchen given its much admired build quality. The Cuisinart MCP-12 MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set costs around $200 on Amazon.com at the time of writing. Free shipping is also included with the Super Saver Shipping option.

What Other Users Have Said About This Product

Out of the 217 users who have provided reviews for the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set on Amazon.com, 180 of them gave the set 5 stars, while 25 of them gave it 4 starts. The rest gave it a varying rate of 3, 2 and 1 stars.

Many of the users of the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro were former users of the non stick cookware set type. I seems en masse they have switched to stainless steel cookware, particularly to our review set, because they like the idea that stainless steel is easy to clean and thus, highly sanitary.

A majority of buyers also like the even heat distribution which is achieved because of the mixture of aluminum into the stainless steel during manufacturing. These even heating levels allowed many users to save more energy when cooking, and also burn less food. Many users also liked the fact that this cookware set is dishwasher safe and oven safe. Perhaps most of all, people liked the fact that the pans are well balanced in terms of weight and size, and can be carried easily with their solid handles – which also has positive safety implications.

Any Complaints?

Since the product is made of stainless steel, some users are a bit concerned about food sticking to the pan, especially if they have not used enough oil or butter. Most of this tiny minority of reviewers are used to having no oil in the pan since they were using non-stick Teflon pans previously. However, this seems a minor concern for only a few buyers – and perhaps not valid at all in the face of so many positive comments on how easy these pans are to clean and how even the cooking surface is.

Where is the Product Sold?

You can purchase the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel Cookware Set on Amazon.com. They offer free shipping on this product and currently provide the most competitive price on this cookware set that I’ve found online.

Oak Vertical File Cabinet – Most Look Like a Versatile Piece of Furniture

Whether you have just started your own home based business or simply have set up a home office to help you keep your bills and other important documents all located in one place chances are you are going to need a place to file your records. Now might be a great time to check out some oak vertical file cabinets. They are perfect for the home office. Setting up an office in your home is a little different than working in an office building. Home offices need to be functional yet blend in with the rest of your homes decor.

This rich warm wood is not only functional but is a beautiful piece of furniture as well. Oak Vertical file cabinets come in two and four drawer models and will look great anywhere. The really nice things about these cabinets is that since they are oak, you can easily match them to your desk, computer stand and other office furniture so that everything blends together to create a beautiful yet professional looking office.

The drawers slide out easily and they are sturdy enough to hold your files without getting weighted down and sticking like some. Which means that when you need to retrieve a file in a hurry you don’t waste valuable time fighting with the drawers to get them open.

While these are not the least expensive on the market they are certainly worth the initial investment. They are sturdy, made to last and with proper care can last the entire time you own your business and still look as attractive as the day you purchased them. Even more importantly wood furniture never goes out of style so it will always look up to date no matter how much other office styles change.

In fact, Oak vertical filing cabinets have become so popular that many manufacturers of budget furniture are now making them from pressed board. While some of these may have the look of oak they lack the durability of the real thing. Many of these budget models may last only a few months to a couple of years under constant use.

Metal filing cabinets are durable but look out of place in the home office. Metal may work well in the more impersonal confines of a major office building but they simply lack the warmth and personality needed for a home office, making them stand out garishly against the rest of the decor and striking a discordant note.

While there are many other types available on the market, oak vertical filing cabinets really are the perfect choice for the home office. The rich warm look of wood blends in with any decor from rustic to sophisticated, you can easily match them to your other office furniture. They have the durability you need and the look you want all at a reasonable price.

Baby Wall Art – A Beautiful Piece of Art Work

Ball wall art or baby bedroom decors are beautiful pieces of art work that can help brighten up a nursery or kids rooms aside from the fact that it also help stimulate the eyesight of babies and can engage a child’s imagination. These art decors are good pieces of gift items for babies during their baby shower and christening; for toddlers and kids for their birthdays or a surprise gift for a job well done. Are you somebody who’s trying to decorate the room of your baby or children? Here are several types of baby wall art and baby bedroom decor to choose from.

Canvass wall banner, canvass art, framed art, personalized art, wall hanging letters, growth charts, name plaques and tiles, personalized plates, birth certificate tiles and peel and place wall art stickers. Canvass wall banner and canvass art comes with decorative nails and grommets in four corners for easy hanging. You can choose from a wide array of designs suited for your baby or children. The color of the room is also another factor to consider when buying a canvass wall mural. Framed art and personalized art are also another type of art decors for your baby/children’s room. All of these wall art decors should be fun, whimsical and full of imagination.

Bedroom decors for babies/children’s are also a must for rooms intended for them alone. A lot of parents and/or expectant parents want to give their kids the luxury of owning their own things. Their own bedroom is their sanctuary and we would like them to feel that it is a place where they can just be them. There are several nursery and room decors to choose from. For nursery room you should have a diaper stacker, crib mobile, cribs, Moses basket, caddy, baskets and bins. For children’s bedroom you can have glide and rockers, growth chart, memo boards, stools, kid’s rocking chair, tables, desks and chairs. For both rooms must haves are clocks, laundry hampers, storage and shelves, toy chest, rugs for kids, window valances, lamps and lighting, and art for kids such as wall hanging letters.

In decorating your child’ room or nursery room you will always have to think of the necessity of every art work or room décor that you will place there. Can they really use it? Look for pieces of room decors and art works that are durable for the baby/child’s safety and protection. Ask for assistance and opinions from the sales associates of the store. They can give you a sound advise which products sells like hotcake.

As a parent we tend to buy, buy and buy more especially when we see new infant/kid’s items in the mall. We sometimes forget that we no longer have the space where we could place our purchase. Be careful to over decorate the room. Make sure that the baby/kid’s room has enough space to walk around and roll over his/her room. After all it’s their sanctuary where they can just be them.

Banana Cream Cookies – A Bite-Sized Piece of Pie

I remember feeding my two little brothers a lot of banana baby food when they were small. It is no wonder that children like bananas. They are high in carbohydrates or sugar and are an excellent source of energy. Your average banana has about 105 calories, but it also has a lot of good things. It is high in vitamin C and in B6, high in potassium and high in dietary fiber. It is very low in sodium and in saturated fat and has no cholesterol. It comes in its own convenient wrapper and it’s a great addition to smoothies. Best of all it is one of the least expensive fruits in your grocery store.

With this recipe you don’t have to wait until the banana ripens. It is better, in fact, if the banana is not too soft, since you will be folding in slices of it at the very end.

If you like banana cream pie, you will like this easy, flavorful recipe. It calls for ¼ cup of whipping cream. Whipping cream has a fairly high quantity of milk fat, usually between thirty to thirty-six percent. Light cream has between eighteen and thirty percent, depending on the company that makes it. I have used half and half to make these cookies, which comes in at ten to eighteen percent. It works well, but the flavor isn’t quite as rich and creamy. I’ve also noticed that the cookies dry out faster when I use less milk fat, so use your own judgment. My husband likes them even with the half and half.

Beat an egg with 2/3 cup of brown sugar for 3-4 minutes. If you don’t have brown sugar, use white sugar and add 2 teaspoons of molasses. Now that I know that brown sugar is just white sugar with molasses added back in, I never buy brown sugar. That way I never have to worry whether it will be hard, just when I need it for a recipe. I vary the amount of molasses depending upon whether a recipe calls for light or dark brown sugar. Figure about 1 tablespoon of molasses per cup of white sugar for light and 2 for dark.

Add ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract and stir in the ¼ cup of whipping cream (or half and half) and 1½ tablespoons of vegetable oil. Separately, whisk together 1¾ cup of flour with 1 teaspoon of baking powder. For those of you above 5000 feet, use ¾ teaspoon of baking powder. Add the flour mixture to the rest and chill the dough.

While it is chilling, turn the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Take a banana and slice it lengthwise twice into 4 long strips. Then cut the strips into ¼ inch pieces. Gently fold the banana pieces into the dough. Drop by cookies scoops (about 1 tablespoon of dough) and bake for 16 to 18 minutes until the cookies are light brown puffy balls. You can grease the cookie sheet, but parchment paper is better, since it won’t add calories. These won’t spread, so you can put more of them on a sheet. The recipe makes 25 cookies. Each tablespoon-sized cookie is about 75 calories with whipping cream and no powdered sugar.

You can dust the cookies with powdered sugar after baking to make them more festive, but it isn’t necessary. Also, I’ve been told that cognac goes well with this cookie. If you are making them for adults, try using cognac instead of the vanilla extract. You can also add a pinch or two of nutmeg to the recipe for a more adult flavor. These are best right out of the oven, but I store them in the refrigerator because of the cream and find that they seem to disappear.

Weight Reduction and Strength Benefits of 3 Piece Forged Wheels

Forged wheels offer many benefits over other rim types in terms of weight and strength. Upgrading to a 3 piece forged rim can improve overall vehicle performance by reducing weight and increasing strength, while giving your car unique styling. The advantages of 3 piece forged wheels can be attributed to the way the rims are constructed.

All forged wheels begin as blocks of high strength, aerospace quality T6-6061 aluminum. The aluminum blocks are then taken to a large forging machine where they are compressed under intense pressure to form the shape of the wheel. This process of compression creates intense heat, thus giving the aluminum a very dense grain structure without any imperfections. Due to the density of the wheel, less material is required in order to meet certain strength requirements, resulting in a lighter overall weight. After the shape of the wheel is stamped out in the forging machine, it is then taken to a CNC milling machine where surplus metal is trimmed off.

The forging process is the key to the weight and strength advantages of 3 piece wheels. When 3 piece wheels are manufactured they go through the same forging process except, instead of being just one piece, 3 separate pieces are made then secured together. There are a number of different parts to a 3 piece wheel: the wheel face, the outer hoop (outer barrel) and the inner hoop (inner barrel). After each piece has been manufactured, the inner and outer hoops are joined together using an airtight Silicone RTV seal. Then, the wheel face is fasted using perimeter bolts.

By upgrading to forged 3 piece wheels, both a vehicle’s performance and style can be improved. The forged manufacturing process creates a very strong and durable rim because of the dense grain structure of the wheel. The dense forged aluminum is without tiny bubbles, cracks, and air pockets, leading to a high-strength, corrosion-free, reliable wheel. The density also allows for less metal to be used, thus reducing the overall weight of the rim. This low weight reduces the unsprung mass at the wheel hub, increasing vehicle acceleration, braking, handling, and overall fuel mileage. Vehicle styling can also be enhanced with 3 piece forged wheels. This type of rim can be customized with many different finishes, colors, and widths to create the perfect fitment.

Aftermarket forged wheels can be a great upgrade for your vehicle. 3 piece forged wheels are the best choice for those looking for a high-strength and lightweight rim while offering unique styling.

Right on Cue! – The History of the Cue Stick

Cue stick, billiard stick, shorty cue, jump stick. Every wonder how the cue stick got its name?

History:

In the 15th century outdoor ball and stick games ( e.g. golf, croquet) evolved into indoor ball and stick games. Players used an item similar to a golf club called a mace. A mace was similar to a golf club with a long cylindrical body and a flat wide foot. It was used to shove the balls around on the table rather than striking a ball. Players however found difficulty when the balls were up against the rail cushion; they improvised and turned around the mace and used the tail end to strike the ball. The name cue actually comes from the French word “queue” meaning tail-end.

By 1800, the cue was being used by only “skilled players”. Novice players were required to still use the mace because the skilled players felt that the novices would miscue and inadvertently damage the cloth.

Types: There are many types of cues; the one piece cue, the shorty cue, the two piece cue, the three-piece cue and even a four piece cue. The one piece cue is generally found in pool halls. The one piece cue is a straight cue made of a continuous piece of tapered wood. They can range in size from 36″-60″, however there is a cue called a “shorty cue”. A shorty cue is a one piece stick that is 36″-52″ in length and used on tables where there is not enough stroking distance to use a 57″ cue. Two and three-piece cues break down into two or three pieces. A four piece cue is usually a “jump cue” or “break cue”. Cue sticks can also be differentiated by game such as; Pool, Carom and Snooker.

Parts: Typically there six parts to a cue stick.

Shaft– The cue stick as a whole can be referred to as the shaft. All sticks are tapered at the end. They can be either pro tapered or European tapered.

Tip-Tips can be either slip-on, screwed on or glued on.The can range in hardness from very soft to very hard. Softer tips will wear out quicker than hard tips, but will hold chalk better than the hard ones.

Ferrule– Is found at the end of the shaft. It is primarily used to hold the tip in place and to prevent the shaft from splitting.

Joint-In two piece cues the joint is where the two pieces attach.

Butt– The butt of the stick is where the majority of the weight is located. They can weigh anywhere from 16oz-22oz.

Bumper-The rubber end of the stick. The bumper protects the butt from damage.

Materials: Most cues are made from hard rock maple wood. However, you will find that most snooker cues are made of ash wood.

Famous cue makers include: Balabuska, Lucasi, Meucci, Joss, Jacoby, and Dufferin to name a few.

Convert Lumber Pricing From Per Thousand to Per Piece

It used to drive me crazy trying to figure out how to calculate prices per thousand and then convert it into per piece. It was so tedious and after awhile, just plain irritating. So I designed a quick little spreadsheet on Excel that would calculate the answer for me and I must use it at least a dozen times per day, if not more.

Now that I’ve got a nice clientele, they are always asking me to convert pricing for them so I decided to do two things. Put up an interactive calculator on our website so that they can do it themselves AND write an article helping others that find themselves in the same boat.

So let’s give an example and then how to convert it.

You need a truckload of 2x4x8′. You phone around and get quotes on the material. The best quote is $250/M for 20 packages (294 pieces per package). What is that per piece? So how much is it for the whole load EXACTLY?!?

Here’s the formula on how you calculate per piece.

Step 1 – Get the board feet per piece. (See my other article – “Board Feet? How to Calculate”)

Thickness X Width X Length / 144 (Make sure to change the 8 foot to 96 inches (8×12))

2 X 4 X 96 / 144 = 5.33333

Step 2 – Take the price per thousand (or Per M) and divide by 1000.

250 / 1000 = 0.25

Step 3 – Multiply the board feet in step 1 by the answer in step 2.

5.33333 X 0.25 = 1.33333

Your answer is $1.33 per piece (Rounded down of course).

Okay, are you still with me? Good! Now how much is the total truckload? Well, there are two ways to go about this. You can either take the long road or the short cut (which is more accurate). I’ll explain both.

Long Road – This is now taking 20 packages and multiplying by 294 pieces which will give you 5880 pieces. Now take $1.33 and multiply 5880 and you have your answer of $7820.40

OR

Short Cut – In step one simply include the amount of packages and pieces in your calculation.

2 x 4 x 96 x20 x294 / 144 = 31,360 and multiply it by step 2 (0.25). You have your answer of $7840.00

NOW, you will notice that there is almost a $20 difference? That’s because in the first calculation we rounded down all those decimals to just two. That adds up over 5880 boards (by $19.60 to be exact!) So you definitely want to use the shortcut now that you know how.

So one last question. Why do lumber companies quote per thousand? Simply because of volume AND multiple sizes. It’s much easier to give one quote on 2x4x8, 2x4x10, 2x4x12, 2x4x16 at $250/M then having to calculate all the different sizes and them ad them together or quote each size individually (there may be ten different sizes on the truck!). Also, if the truck is heavy and a package has to come off, the lumber company would have to re-quote all over again when it was already painful to do it just the first time!

There you have it. Hopefully this now gives you a clear understanding of how to calculate and convert per thousand to per piece. Oh, one last thing, if you’re really stuck and still can’t get the calculations, simply visit our website and a free calculator program can be found there!

How to Buy Furniture One Piece at a Time

Not everyone has the budget to go out and buy an entire furniture set all in one go and not every furniture store will hold a set for a long period of time which is why it is wise to learn how to buy furniture one piece at a time. It is not a bad thing buying only one piece at a time as this allows you to keep yourself in budget and not put yourself into debt.

There are instances where you begin purchasing a certain furniture set one piece at a time but the designs could go out of style by the time you are nearing the end of your set so if you are considering buying an entire set consider to have the money put aside first or be prepared to have multiple pieces put together.

The best way to get through buying furniture piece by piece is by buying exactly what you need at a time. When you are in need of purchasing a couch and have the funds for it don’t go out buying a new washing machine instead as you need the couch and you may already have the washing machine but felt you wanted to upgrade. By setting yourself guidelines you will make the entire process much easier on everyone involved.

It is advised to buy furniture up to the best quality that your budget will allow as then you can make the furniture last longer and not find yourself having to repurchase the same piece of furniture in the near future causing you to have to put off the purchase of another piece.

The benefit of purchasing one piece of furniture at a time is that you could find yourself getting some great deals, especially if the pieces are being sold individually in hopes to get rid of the extra pieces of sets. This can be a great way to cut costs and allow you to purchase other pieces even sooner then you expected so look for these kinds of deals if you are purchasing furniture one piece at a time.

It can be frustrating learning how to buy furniture one piece at a time but it can also be a lot of fun. You can have the opportunity of finding great pieces that may not go together perfectly but really let your personality shine within your home. Buying furniture one piece at a time isn’t a bad thing even though it may be harder to do so be adventurous and find yourself some great deals because they are out there.

Throwing a One-Piece Wine Goblet on a Clay Potter Wheel

A clay potter wheel can be used to create a unique wine goblet out of a single piece of clay. Wine goblets which are put together from separate parts often lack unity of form, whereas a wine goblet made from a single piece of thrown clay makes for an integrated object which has heft and balance in the hand, and an appealing visual elegance.

To begin, take two pounds or so of clay and center it into a 5″ tall mound on the throwing wheel. Since the bottom of the wine goblet must be trimmed to about 3″ diameter it is a good idea to leave some extra clay at the bottom while throwing. Slow down the wheel and open the clay mound down to approximately 2″ in the center. It is important to seek a correct balance in size between the cup and stem, otherwise the wine goblet may become top-heavy when it is filled. Additionally, making too large a cup will not leave sufficient clay to form the stem; and a stem which is too thin can warp in the kiln since it is unable to support the weight of the cup. Generally speaking, the cup should be less than half of the height of the finished wine goblet. After centering the clay and opening it, define the cup’s inside and outside; and compress the inside bottom with your finger to align the particles of clay and to avoid S-cracks. Then pull the cup’s side up to its final shape, flaring the lip slightly but not too wide (which permits too much wine to flow out at a time). Calipers can be used to check the correct diameter and height of a little over 3″. Then use chamois to finish the cup’s lip.

Next form the stem. You can use a throwing sponge to maintain a lubricated clay surface. Again, slower throwing wheels are used for this part of the process. Gently and slowly force the clay up the stem applying equal pressure with both hands to opposite sides of the stem. Don’t use more than a couple of pulls since this overworks the clay, which makes it liable to cracking. Then, undercut the base with a wire and water, and slide the wine goblet off of the bat. After allowing it to dry for several hours, place the wine goblet back on the center of the wheel and straighten it up if it is not vertical. Air dry overnight to hard-leather stage, at which point it is easy to manipulate and trim the wine goblet to perfection. You can flatten the bottom with a trimming tool so that the base of the wine goblet parallels the wheel head. Start trimming the foot, and only when that is complete begin work on trimming the wine goblet’s stem. Starting at the foot, peel any asymmetrical clay from the stem to make a symmetrical, perpendicular, and smooth stem. Turn the wine goblet right-side up now and then to study how the finished goblet will look and what further trimming needs to be done. Then with a finger or moist sponge finish the stem surface. When you bisque-fire a wine goblet permit the kiln to heat slowly until the first 212° F (100° C) is reached. Be careful of kiln ventilation, and do not stack goblets in the kiln.

Learning Chess – Chess Game Piece Roles

Whether you are brand new to playing chess or if you have been a chess player for awhile now, knowledge is power when it comes to improving your game. Therefore, having a true understanding of both the names and the proper usage of each chess game piece is very important. To win a game of chess, you need to carefully come up with a great strategy in order to beat your opponent. Therefore, playing chess is not only a great way to keep your mind sharp but it is also a lot of fun!

As you are probably already aware, the game of chess is played between two people. As with most any board game, you both alternate taking turns. One player will use all the white pieces, and the other player will then use all of the black pieces. The way the game of chess then works is that you each take turns moving one game piece at a time, and the person that manages to capture the enemy king is declared the winner of the game.

Next, let us take a look at each individual piece. First, there is the bishop. The bishop game piece can only be moved in a straight line diagonally. However, there is no limit to how many numbers of squares it can be moved. The rook game piece most often looks a lot like a small tower. You can move the rook either vertically or horizontally. As with the bishop, there is no limit to how many number of squares the rook can be moved.

The queen is considered by many to be the most powerful piece in chess because the options with the queen game piece are practically limitless. You can move in any direction you choose with the queen game piece whether that be diagonally, vertically or horizontally, and you may also move the queen any number of squares that you would like. As with the queen, the king game piece can also be moved in any direction. However, the king piece is somewhat limited as it can only be moved one square at a time.

The knight is usually easily recognized because it often looks like a horse. The knight piece moves in a rather strange pattern. This pattern is somewhat difficult to explain, but some say that it can best be described as making an L-shape. The knight is also the only game piece that is allowed to jump over other game pieces.

Last but certainly not least, there is the pawn. In the game of chess, pawns are commonly referred to as the weakest game pieces. One reason for this is they are somewhat limited in their movement, as one is only allowed to move a pawn piece forward and not backwards.

Best of luck, and I hope that you enjoy learning how to play chess!
