For several days I have tried to settle on a topic to write and have had absolutely no luck coming up with one with which I felt comfortable. While this was laying heavily on my thought I got up one morning and, as is my custom, entered the shower and began washing and soaking. The hot water was grand and I basked in complete contentment as it gently cascaded down and pummeled my body. As I applied my favorite body wash for men, using it according to direction, my thought focused on how wonderful it was that I could shower and keep clean but wondered what the negative impact would be of not being able to stay clean and practice good personal hygiene. So there you have it. I decided on using that epiphany moment of insight as my point of departure for this article. I am glad I did. It is a worthwhile topic on which to write. What then is the negative impact of a general lack of personal hygiene and an habitually dirty body, on such person’s general sense of well-being?

Where do we look for answers to this perplexing question? I decided to focus on the plight of street people as the most transparent and meaningful examples of the point I wanted to make. I want it perfectly clear that I do not see any causal relationship suggesting an inability to practice good personal hygiene as the cause of anyone having to live on the streets. But I do suggest it is axiomatic that there is a nexus establishing the need to live on the street, as a primary cause of a person’s inability to practice the requirements of good personal hygiene..

Forced to live on the streets or some other place where a person is unable to do what is necessary for good personal hygiene has devastating effects. Here are some of them.

Employment

If such a person had employment when this problem arose, it is unlikely that he will be able to stay employed much more than a week or so following his move into the streets. For who among us will look with charity and patience on someone in the work force, perhaps in the cubicle next to us, filling the available air with body odor?

What are the employment prospects if he did not already have a job? After a week or so living on the street his chances of gaining suitable employment are next to nothing and becoming less and less with each passing day.

Social Considerations

It would be an exceptional host or hostess sponsoring a dinner party that would invite our street person to attend. Even if a close friend, I suggest that no invitation would be issued and the most that would happen is that food might be inconspicuously offered him as a way of extending charity. In the name of brotherly love, he might even be allowed to take a shower. But how many times would he be able to count on that? He would have exhausted his welcome by the end of the first week, if not before. Again, his lack of cleanliness, dirty clothes, the body odor and bad breath that exist under such circumstances are all road blocks that prevent his inclusion in the social network, if any, that he had before this disaster.

Then, too, there are people who for whatever reason are just plain careless and even unwilling to spend the time needed to be clean. This type of person almost by definition becomes a social misfit and loner. Shy and introverted he would typically spend his time alone shutting out the world and others who might normally be actively engaged in his life in some meaningful way.

Medical and Health Concerns

Finally there are any number of medical and general health conditions contracted when living on the street. Lice in the head and pubic areas acquired from the need to use poorly maintained public restrooms and having to sleep almost literally on the ground every night. Colds and the flu become common place as do a number of other medical conditions requiring treatment.

What Can Be Done To Help?

What are some of the things we must do to remedy or mitigate the effects of these life circumstances that are impairing the general sense of well-being of those encountering this problem?

• Updated vaccinations are needed to protect the public health and wherever possible prevent the outbreak of disease.
• Proper sanitation is a must.
• The construction of low cost public housing to put a roof over the heads of homeless people and get them off the streets.
• Those who have the means to look after themselves but don’t should be required to attend a seminar on how to keep themselves clean and healthy.
• For a person that just won’t maintain personal cleanliness there is very little that we can do for him except to make every attempt to instill in him the need, if necessary by engaging the service of professionals in social work, psychology and other disciplines.
• Those with other disabilities have their local public health Department and a number of social and religious entities on which to draw. The Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels and similar programs are widely available to homeless, elderly and disabled people. Depending upon one’s circumstances, education and counselling on how to properly care for one’s self might be available. The Internet, a good telephone directory and the Public Health Department are good resources for identifying locally available agencies capable of providing help to a person wanting to overcome this problem.

The failure to follow good personal hygiene practices will lead to a variety of personal, social and medical conditions that greatly impact upon a person’s sense of general well-being. They also have the potential to cause problems for the general population if allowed to get out hand. Resell Rights Marketing: You can offer resell rights to your product where people would be able to sell it and keep all the money. It increases your product value and helps in building in name because more sales are made than when you sell it just on your own. Helps in branding too.

RSS Marketing: RSS stands for Really simple Syndication and it may be difficult to conceptualize in the beginning. RSS works by RSS feeds which needs to be generated by website. People can subscribe to these RSS feeds and can view the content of the website via their RSS reader. By this people are enabled to receive the content directly on their desktop. This method is quite new as compared to others and has become really popular following spam issues in email marketing.

Blog Marketing: Blog is an online journal which you can update on regular basis. You need a blogging platform like WordPress or Blogger etc and you can publish at their site or host on your own. Blogs are immensely popular with marketers and are very much loved by search engines. A must for your business.

Social Bookmarking: This is latest marketing buzz. There are online bookmarking sites available which people can use to bookmark the places on the web they like. You can display these bookmarking buttons on your site or blog and people may submit the link for bookmarking if they like your site. Generates good traffic.

Video Marketing: This is even newer. You can upload a video on the sites that allow. People would watch and then visit your site. Theory is similar to article marketing but media used is different. A popular website that allows video upload is Youtube.com.

Paul Klee (1879-1940) was a German painter of Swiss origin, who had the uncanny ability of venturing into diverse styles, ‘Cubism,’ ‘Orientalism,’ ‘Expressionism,’ and ‘Surrealism,’ yet maintaining the singularity of his art. His body of work was remarkable for its ‘dry humor’ and childish streaks, which more or less represented his personal vision of the world. Despite his art being flaked by the critics and Swiss Authorities, it found a lot of popularity in the wider circles of common masses. One of the Klee’s best-known works is “The Twittering Machine.” Currently, a part of the Museum of Modern Art in the New York City, it is a work of oil transfer sketch on paper base with ink, watercolors, and gouache on a 25.25″ X 19″ frame.

Paul’s “The Twittering Machine” is an overly simplistic design that appears somewhat sketchy. Paul has tried to present a blend of Nature’s spirit with the essence of industrialization. It features four birds sitting on their roost, connected to a hand crank (mechanical arm, joined to an engine or shaft), against a commingled background of blue and pink. The blue color signifies night and the pink color is a harbinger of approaching sunlight with the break of dawn. The singing birds, contextually ‘twittering,’ seem to be proclaiming and welcoming the daybreak after a night of darkness and uncertainty. The birds are not represented in their full rounded natural forms, rather in wire-like structures ‘Symbolically.’ The entire setup of birds with their roost is placed over an open pit, where they sing enthusiastically to lure their prey into the pit. This complex portrayal is used as an allegory for the manner in which industrialization uses its bait (the twittering birds) to attract unwitting victims (common people) into its grave-like chasm (fall-outs of industrialization). In the same reference, the crank looks like a ‘lever’ of a music box, illustrating the driving force behind the birds, which propels them to sing. “The Twittering Machine” is a masterwork that mocks the idea of trying to create something better than Nature, in the very face of it.

In this arresting piece, “The Twittering Machine,” an incoherently sarcastic technical looking drawing, in reality is a brilliant embodiment of the cacophony of the modern life, under the guise of industrialization and machination. Paul Klee expressed his penchant for sarcasm on the hypocrisies inherent in the contemporary world, when he remarked that, ‘Art does not reproduce the visible; rather, it makes visible.’

When talking to a MLM prospect or a new team member it is vitally important to discover their primary motivating factor. What makes them want to join your business? Or if they have already joined why did they join?

In order for anybody to succeed in MLM they must have a big enough “Why” – why did they join? What is it that they are trying to achieve? It’s all well & good if they say “financial freedom” is their goal, but what exactly does that mean to them, & why is it so important to them? After all, the phrase “financially free” can mean a multitude of things to different people. Some people may think they have achieved financial freedom if they have their mortgage paid for along with their monthly expenditure such as utility bills & groceries. However others will think they have achieved financial freedom when they can travel the world first class, never look at the prices on menus when eating at top class restaurants or the price tags on clothes. To others it would be sending their kids to private school & not having to worry about not having enough money to provide a roof over their heads.

Of course it’s not always about money it could be that money is not a problem but time is, time to spend with the kids, time to take a relaxing break, time to take their partner out for a nice dinner…

Without knowing what motivates your MLM prospect or new team member you cannot help them reach their goals. I’ve mentioned this in other articles, if you help enough people get what they want then you will get what you want, but how do you do this if you don’t know what it is that they “want”?

In his book “Questions are The Answers” Allan Pease* describes a great method to find out people’s primary motivating factor. Ask your prospect or new team member “do you know why people start a Networking Business”? If they say “No” then you simply say “let me show you”. If they say “yes” you ask them to tell you why, listen to what they have to say & when they have finished you ask “any more” They will say “no” then you say “let me show you” and you produce the following list;

Extra Income

Financial Freedom

Have Own Business

More Spare Time

Personal Development

Helping Others

Meeting New People

Retirement

Leave a Legacy

Then ask them the following questions;

1. WHAT IS YOUR NUMBER 1 PRIORITY?

2. WHY DID YOU PICK THAT ONE?

3. WHY IS THAT IMPORTANT TO YOU?

4. WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT HAVING THAT OPPORTUNITY?

5. WHY WOULD THAT WORRY YOU?

Make sure after every question that you listen to what they have to say without interruption or comment, just go through the questions one after the other in the order above. When you have finished you will have identified their primary motivation.

You can now tailor the rest of your talk to describe how your MLM opportunity can help them get exactly, what it is that they want. Don’t be surprised if some people become emotional when going through the above questions, after all you are delving deep into what is important to these people & what motivates them. The reasons are often very personal & so some people will inevitably become emotional.

Finding out someone’s primary motivating factor is essential if you want to help them build a successful MLM Business, if you fail in establishing their “why” then it is very unlikely that you can help them & in turn yourself to succeed.

Romeo Santos has had many hit songs with a group called Aventura and as a solo artist. But to truly understand him one needs to trace his background from the beginning to the present.

He was born Anthony Santos in the Bronx, New York City in 1981. His father is Dominican and his mother is Puerto Rican. He grew up near Yankee Stadium and is fluent in both Spanish and English. Romeo has said it was a nice neighborhood in the sense it was mixed African-Americans, Puerto Ricans and Dominicans and everybody knew each other.

At home his mother had an influence on him musically. Romeo said “she had a beautiful voice and played romantic Balladeers like Jose Jose and Julio Iglesias.”

His older sister Laura is his personal manager and said he was a quiet kid but he liked to sing. Even when he was playing with toys he would be humming.”

At 13, Santos joined the choir at his Catholic church so he could meet chicks that he really liked. He said that “he realized he joined the choir for all the wrong reasons when he started getting compliments about his singing. From then on Music became his mission because he felt this is the only thing I’m great at.”

When he was 15 he began to develop a passion for Bachata music and said that “many of the songs didn’t have a good reputation and the lyrics were quite vulgar and negative.” That all changed when in 1999 he formed a group with three of his relatives and named it Aventura.

Through trial and error over a lengthy period of time they experimented with Bachata music and finally got the sound mix they wanted. It was smooth and more contemporary. As they proceeded to sing their revised Bachata styled music it began picking up steam. The group sold 1.8 million albums and had several top ten hits. Since Romeo was the group’s lead singer, composer and producer his status as a super-star became more credible.

As one analyst said “Romeo wrote words that were plain-spoken and ones that people could identify with.” It should also be noted that Romeo penned some lyrics that read like steamy soap operas. This was demonstrated with Aventura’s first worldwide hit titled “Obsession.”

A little known fact that tells a lot about his mother’s character was the following: While Aventura’s star was rising he broke up with the girl he had been seeing since high school only to discover she was pregnant. His son Alex was born in 2001. Romeo said that “he was immature and for the first year and a half he made excuses for not making a commitment and wanted to focus on his music.”

It took a while for his dear mother to make him understand that he had to “man up” and he did. He bought a house for his ex-girlfriend and Alex. He has grown close to his son who is now 14 and interacts with him as a good father should. How lucky Romeo is to have a mother who has the character to remind her son that he has to do the right thing on the crossroads of life.

In 2011 he gave notice that he was leaving Aventura to start a solo career. Two years after doing so he featured Usher and Lil Wayne on songs with English lyrics that are the closest he has come to mainstream R&B. “I’m reaching a huge audience” Romeo said, ” I’m doing what artists like Beyoncé are doing in terms of selling out stadiums. The difference is my audience speaks Spanish.

In 2014 Romeo sold out two nights at Yankee Stadium and did it alone rather than like other name artists who needed to get a fellow celebrity singer to partner up with them to fill the house.

In the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards Romeo Santos took home 10 awards including Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the year, Producer of the Year, Hot Latin Songs artist of the year, and Top Latin Album of the Year for Formula, Vol 2.

During the ceremony Romeo made a special comment to Marc Anthony saying that he had the great privilege of recording with Marc and he was like a brother to him. The fact that Romeo did that pleased me as Marc Anthony is one of my favorite singers. Marc is REALLY a GOOD singer. So I’m happy that Romeo gave special thanks to him.

Finally it is with confidence that I say the kid from The Bronx in New York will have a brilliant career given the success and guidance he has had.
