Drywall Repair – How to Make an Extra $300, $600 and More Per Week Specializing in Drywall Repair

If you have been a house painter for very long you have undoubtedly come into some form of drywall repair on every interior painting job. As a matter of fact, if you don’t get good at mastering drywall repair, your painting jobs will not be as professional as they could be.

In this article I want to reveal how small drywall repair jobs can mean big profits for you. I am talking about making $350 to $500 on average for just 7 – 10 hours of work. Each job is different of course and may turn out to be just a $200 repair or maybe a $1,500 repair.

The fact is that when it comes to drywall repair people always call someone to do the work. As a house painter I know that most people think they know how to paint and the keyword here is “think”. But when it comes to things like drywall repair they go running home to momma.

And this is why you can make good money doing small repair jobs like plumbers and electricians do. The things that most people are unskilled to do themselves are simple and easy for us that decide to specialize in them.

Some people have the money but lack the time and would rather have someone else do the work anyway. 99% of the time though, people just don’t know the trade. Drywall repair is a secret art. As for the ones that attempt to repair their own drywall themselves, the job always turns out lousy.

Where is the target market for getting business? The answer is residential, light commercial, rental properties, etc. As a house painter you can be limited to a higher end market if you wish to earn professional painters wages. But no so with drywall repair. Your market can be low end to high end simply because of the tremendous profits in smaller jobs that most people can afford.

Most of the time you get calls from people when they have water damage. Sometimes it is from reckless teens roughhousing. I had one job where bees ate a hole in the ceiling. I would say that 95% of drywall repair is from water damage and half of that can be from bad plumbing, a leaky shower that needs to be re-grouted, etc. A leaky roof is usually the other reason.

Sometimes you can get jobs hanging and taping small projects like a garage or part of a basement. You don’t have to take on these bigger projects though. Many times people want to sell their house so they are motivated to fix their walls or ceilings finally.

You may ask yourself, if drywall repairs are so simple how can I get good at doing them? First, You need to learn how to duplicate a few common textures, which is easy once you figure out which tool was used to make it. You will also get repairs for common drywall holes of all sizes, which includes plaster (thin set and lathe). And you will need to know how to repair loose tape seams.

And believe it or not, that’s about all there is to successful drywall repair. These techniques are hidden to the public but easy for you and I. If you ever have seen what homeowners try to do to repair their own drywall you will know instantly that this is an easy profitable business.

Here is the amazing part. Most drywall repairs that I see look awful. Yet the homeowner seems happy with it. The job looks like someone came in and slopped a little mud on the ceiling and left. Yet the repair guy ran off with something like $200 and the homeowner for some odd reason usually thinks the job was done O.K. I have seen this too often.

On a serious note though, doing good professional looking work at affordable prices will give you tons of referrals and repeat business. If you can learn the basics of proper drywall repair and even do a little touch up painting afterward you will do just fine. You can indeed earn $30 – $70 per hour due to the nature of the work.

How can I get business? Shopper guides, classified ads in places like Craig’s List, local online ads, small Yellow Pages ads, word-of-mouth, etc. Why should I start a small drywall repair business? Is there a big future in it? Yes for two reasons. First, self-employment is becoming the new work force and secondly, home repair will always be with us.

Who can do this type of work? Anyone who loves to restore things can do well. People who are gifted at home repairs, house painters, drywall, etc. Anyone who learns a few secrets to successful drywall repair.

MLM Business – How to Earn $100,000 a Month Your 1st Year

This may sound like an outlandish claim, but this is not the high end of what top producers in the network marketing industry are making. This is just a number based on what many of you aspiring top producers would like to make to feel very successful with your MLM business, and to feel comfortable with their future.

Last night I was blessed to meet with Mr. Mark Yarnell, a legendary figure in network marketing. He revealed to me how to earn $100,000 per year your first year in MLM, and within that conversation the “10 landmines to avoid” that will destroy your chances of doing so. Today we are going to cover what you have to do, or “How To Earn $100,000 A Month Your 1st Year” in your MLM home business.

Mark Yarnell, the source of these awesome MLM success secrets, has made more than $30 MILLION in this industry, so he has at least a leg or two to stand on. Think about a more contemporary top producer like Mr. Jeffery Combs, who has done single months in network marketing of over $400,000. It is absolutely doable.

Mark made an interesting comparison regarding income or performance claims. Say you went to play for a pro team as a new player, and you went through a sort of orientation process. Does the coach say to you, Hey you see that player on the bench? He’s never played in a single game, but he gets paid $200,000 per year. If you practice really hard maybe you can be as good as him one day.

Absolutely not! He’s going to say, see that player there? That’s Michael Jordan. He starts every game, scores X number of points, and makes $18 million per year. If you commit to practicing really hard maybe you can be better than him and make more money than him, one day.

Yet, in our industry regulators don’t want us to mention what it’s possible to make. Isn’t it crazy that FTC regulators want us to only talk to you about the 97% of people who never make more than $10 per week with their MLM business? What a sad thing to aspire to. I don’t know about you, but I was looking at the top producers to determine what was possible for me, when I set my personal goals for my MLM home business.

I’m focusing on MLM home business success, not failure. You should be as well.

So what do you need to do? As always, when I meet with the true professionals in this industry, they distill it down to simple steps that require some work & consistent action.

I. Ask yourself, “Would I recruit my mom into this company”?

  • Your core values have to match the company you’re getting into.
  • You need to believe in your opportunity 100%.
  • If your core values do not align with your vehicle, you WILL sabotage yourself before you get to the big money & success. It can not be just about the money.

II. You need to look at the size & potential of the market sector your company and products are in.

  • Are the products something a huge percentage of people use regularly, or does just a small percentage of people use them. Is it a small niche or massive market?
  • Your best potential lies with products that have a huge & growing market, products you would buy regardless of whether you are involved in the business opportunity.

III. You must spend two hours per day at professional relationship building, every day, 5 days per week. This is the lifeblood of your MLM business.

  • In the MLM business, you are paid to do only two things. Recruit team members and retail product.
  • Professionals get paid, amateurs do not. You must treat network marketing as a business, not a hobby.

IV. Decide to get to $100,000 per month. Decide how long you will take to get there – One, Two or Three Years.

  • Based on 20 days per month, you need to present to 30 qualified prospects per day, to get to $100,000 per month in one year.
  • Based on 20 days per month, you need to present to 20 qualified prospects per day, to get to $100,000 per month in two years.
  • Based on 20 days per month, you need to present to 10 qualified prospects per day, to get to $100,000 per month in three years.
  • With anything less than 10 people per day, & you reach a point of diminishing returns. Decide on one, two or three years to get to $100,000 per month.

If you want to get there in one year, as we discussed in the title of this post, you have to get your presentation in front of 30 qualified prospects per day.

What is so powerful about this is that it’s a simple enough step-by-step process for anyone to execute. There are no barriers to entry. It doesn’t matter your education, your family status, your financial situation. Anyone can do these steps.

It does require hard work and commitment. The reason 97% of network marketers never get to this level is because don’t execute. This is why most people never achieve this income, even with these MLM success secrets handed to them.

$200 Per Hour Opening Cars — How To Become A Lockout Specialist

If you haven’t yet locked your keys inside your car, you will someday. The odds are heavily against you, because this is one of the most common slip-ups to haunt the civilized world. Personally I’ve done it no less than ten times myself over a period of, say, twenty years…and I’m a Locksmith!

Now, how can you turn this into a benefit?

If you happen to be looking for a high profit, super interesting career you could do a lot worse than to consider becoming a Lockout Specialist. I know whereof I speak, because as a working Locksmith since 1983 I’ve opened (literally) countless vehicles and I’ve had many instances where I made upwards of $200 per hour over several hours at a time. I can recall one incredible day in which I serviced twenty-three lockouts, at an average price of $40 and an average labor time of 10 minutes per vehicle — for most of a day. This was near Christmas in 1995, in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was self-employed and doing very well as a full service Locksmith, but the bulk of my business during Holidays has always been in the form of lockouts.

It is important to make a distinction here, to avoid confusion. I am not proposing that you will make that kind of money day after day. There will be average days, and there will be busy days. But if you set up a business, in a fairly large city or base yourself at least near one, you stand to make unconscionably easy money once you get settled in and your business becomes visible. Opening locked cars is as easy a profession as ever has been conceived. It takes some skill, of course, and you will have to do some studying before you break out the lockout tools and advertise yourself — but compared to many other professions it just can’t be beat for simplicity. You will also have to do some homework with respect to legality. Some states require Lockout Specialists to be registered Locksmiths, but most do not! This is something you have to determine before you take another step.

If you find that you are living in a jurisdiction that requires registering, it is not that difficult to do. You will have to gain a wider knowledge of Locksmithing, but this certainly is not a detriment as it will likely lead to a fantastic career that goes well beyond opening locked mini-vans. If on the other hand you are fortunate enough to be living in an area in which Lockout Specialists can be licensed without having to be full-fledged Locksmiths, the path to a cushy career sprawls before you.

I started my business in Salt Lake City when I was 37 years of age. Up until then I had never so much as dreamt of being involved with locks, car openings or keys. I was in dire straights, having just lost most everything I owned through a business failure that occurred as collateral damage from a divorce. Someone suggested I go door to door and sell “door viewers” — those little peepholes people put in their front doors. This actually worked well, but only because at that time I had no bills (everything got disposed of). After a while I was being asked to install locks. I started doing that and was buying deadbolts at a local Locksmith shop one day when the guy behind the counter, who by then had gotten to know me, suggested I start a Locksmith business. I thought he was kidding me, seriously. But he told me that Locksmiths make incredible profit from most everything they do, especially doing lockouts. He sold me a few tools — which in Utah is perfectly legal (or was at that time at least) — and also a small book on opening cars.

That was a turning point in my life. I went on, within six months, to taking on small Locksmith jobs and teaching myself. I put a small ad in the Yellow Pages, hoping against hope I wouldn’t go bust in the first few months because those ads can’t be canceled, and I soon realized there was enough business out there that I was opening cars almost every day. I got better at it the more I did it (there were nightmare jobs in which it took me hours to open a single car, but that was in the very early days). Eventually the calls started coming in quite regularly and I started making good money, doing something I enjoyed. The feeling of helping others who really need your specialized service is a great one, and knowing you are working for yourself and no one else is beyond description.

I had to do all this without a road map. There was nothing available to beginners in those days, not like there is today. The explosion of information that is the Internet has made all the difference. I wish back in 1983 I’d had the advantages available to career seekers today. There are many self-help manuals and DVD courses now that can teach you to set up a Lockout Specialist business, or a full-fledged Locksmith business. The prices are surprisingly affordable, and the information in at least some of them is staggering. In many cases, you can actually earn certification by purchasing one of these courses.

It is worth considering if you like the idea of working for ten minutes, assisting a motorist in need, and putting up to $50 or $60 dollars in your pocket for your trouble.

How it is Possible to Make a Living and Earn $50K Or More Per Year Playing Craps

Are you dissatisfied with your job? Do you feel you should be earning more but do not know what to do? Let’s assume a person earns $25 per hour working 8 per hours per day. This equals $200 per day. Working 5 days per week equals $1,000 per week. Working 50 weeks per year (take two weeks off for vacation) equals $50,000 per year. Not a bad income for most people.

For argument sake, let’s assume I can make $25 per shooter playing craps. Taking it further, making $25 per shooter, betting on 8 shooters per day equals $200 per day. On average there will be approximately 15 shooters per hour at a craps table. In other words, you can make in one hour or less what a person earning $25 per hour makes in a day. Think about it for a moment.

Playing craps professionally requires you to avoid distractions, maintain mental discipline, adhere to precise rules and techniques, and to control your emotions. The greatest reward as a professional is the freedom to “work” your own hours and to be your own boss.

Playing craps as a business avoids typical problems and/or costs. For example, it requires no accountants, bookkeepers or attorneys to operate. You will have no collection problems with receivables, no inventory, no advertising, no “customers” and no employees, which means you do not need to contribute to employee benefits or taxes. Playing craps as a business requires no insurance, licenses, dues or registration. There are no “competitors” playing craps professionally. If anything, you have a commonality with other players at the craps table – – to take money from the casino, not each other. Caveat: Playing craps is gambling! There are no fool proof systems, strategies or methods. You will not get rich overnight. There will be times when you will lose money. How you handle these loses will determine if you will be successful or not. Success requires a lot of patience.

All of this sounds great right? Wrong. Here are some problems with the logic. First, unless you live in Las Vegas, Laughlin or Reno, Nevada you need to live in a geographical area where the local casinos operate craps tables. Phoenix, where I reside, does not. So there is a cost and expense to travel to Vegas to play craps.

Second, you will not win on every shooter. So you need to have a large enough bankroll to withstand some losses. An adequate bankroll is $2,500 of money you can afford to lose. Having an adequate bankroll is a must to ensure you have a proper psychological attitude. Herein is the problem because most people play not to lose instead of playing to win.

Third, the majority of people who play craps do not have the discipline to stick with a betting strategy or to be satisfied with earning $200 per day, let alone per hour. Greed has turned many winners into losers.

Fourth you need to have a betting strategy wherein you can make $25 on each shooter while minimizing your risk of loss. So you need to understand the basics of the game and then some. There are many different betting strategies that will allow you to win $25 on a shooter. Some are better than others.

If you are going to play craps to make a living treat it like a business. Operating any business requires operating capital. Most businesses fail if they are under funded or do not have a written business plan with specific objectives and how they will meet these objectives. Likewise, if you do not have a sufficient bankroll to play craps, you will fail. Also, if you do not have a written plan with specific goals and how you will achieve them, you will fail. If you do not understand these concepts, please do not risk any money attempting to earn a living playing at the casinos.

Several keys to help you succeed include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Stay at the craps table for short periods of time. Take breaks often to avoid getting tired. Longer stays at the table increases your exposure to potential loss.

2. No system is fool proof. Craps is a game of chance. You can and will lose money. You must maintain discipline and proper money management. You cannot get greedy playing craps. Set daily goals and adhere to those goals. If you win your daily goal, leave the casino. If you lose your daily limit, stop playing and leave the casino. The casino will still be there tomorrow.

3. NEVER GAMBLE WITH MONEY YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE EITHER EMOTIONALLY OR FINANCIALLY. NEVER BORROW MONEY TO GAMBLE.

4. Never gamble when you are depressed, unhappy, tired or not feeling well. You must be able to focus and concentrate on what you are doing.

5. Never increase your bets when you are losing.

6. Never drink alcohol or take drugs when playing craps. Again, you must be able to focus and concentrate on what you are doing at the tables.

7. Keep an eye on your bets and make sure the dealer has made the proper bets for you. If you call off your bets, make certain the dealer has used the “off” button to indicate so or has taken down your bets. Make certain the dealer has paid you correctly. If you do not catch the mistake in time, it may cause you to incur a substantial loss. Dealers are people, they make mistakes.

8. Treat dealers with respect and courtesy. Tip or “toke” dealers. You generosity will pay off in the long run. My experience has been that if you treat dealers with respect and courtesy and tip them they will watch out for you and they will take care of your bets.

These are only a few points to help you be successful. There are plenty more keys that will help you be successful.

There are many “professional” craps players. You do not generally hear about them because they are very quite about what they do for a living. They do not boast or brag. They do not draw attention to themselves. Most professional craps players are earning more than $50,000 per year. I have met them and I have played with them. The key word is that they are professionals who know what they are doing. So be careful. The entire point of this article is to make you aware that it is possible to make a living playing craps.

Mark Yarnell – 5 Tactics For You To Make $100,000 Per Month In A Twelve Month Period Or A Bit Less

Just Who Is Mark Yarnell and Why Should You Really Care?

Mark Yarnell is a superstar in the Direct Sales Industry. Just in case, you’re not familiar with Mr. Mark Yarnell I’m gone bring you up to speed real quick. Not only is Mr. Yarnell the best-selling author of “Your 1st Year In Network Marketing” and “The Lotus Code,” but he’s an international business leader with over twenty years of active Multi Level Marketing experience and a short while ago Mr. Yarnell and his better half Valerie came out of retirement to help others create emergency retirement cash during this downwards economy when baby boomers that are supposed to be retiring are running out of cash and being pushed to go back to work.

Mark Yarnell Certainly Is The Man 100 Grand

Mark Yarnell has built a profitable world wide distribution enterprise of much more than 300,000 marketing associates in twenty-one nations and is the first and only Networker to serve as Contributing Editor to Success Magazine. I very likely would’ve attended college if I was aware Mark Yarnell along with Dr. Charles King of Harvard University launched the first certification course in Multilevel Marketing taught at the University of Illinois, Chicago also in Seoul, Korea since 1993. Mr. Yarnell was named the Greatest Networker in the World by Upline Magazine, been indoctrinated into the Direct Sales Hall of Fame and has founded and endorsed a wide variety of non-profit organizations.

Understandably Mark Yarnell Is Truly a Regarded Advocate of the Multi Level Marketing Industry

Now because we got the particulars dealt with let’s discuss how you can reach $100,000 a month in 1 year or less. Just a couple days ago I was privileged to be on a personal webinar with Mark Yarnell and some other Top Income Earners and as always I was taking vigorous notes. I have had a lot of success in this business but I haven’t made $100,000 in a thirty day period, as of yet (notice I said “yet”). However, Mark Yarnell has generated 100s of millions of dollars on a monthly basis and Mr. Yarnell was kind enough to expose what Mr. Yarnell calls “The Strategy To Bringing in $100,000 Per Month In A Year Or Less,” and here it goes for you in 5 Simple Steps that I put together for you.

5 Secrets To Generating $100,000 On A Monthly Basis In One Year or Substantially less

1) Core Value Match – This is tremendously essential. Ask your self, “Would You Bring Your Mom Into Your Business?” If your answer is “No,” get as far away from that program as possible. You have to always make sure your companies’ morals and standards are aligned with your morals and standards.

2) Market Section – Contemplate 2 Questions: How sizable is the market segment? And what kind of competition do you currently have in that sector? Timing and positioning is truly essential.

3) Proficient Relationship Establishing (2 Hours Each And Every Day, 5 Days Each Week) – Mark Yarnell said, “The significant difference between a professional and an amateur is amateur’s don’t get paid.”If you’re doing anything outside of the two hours phone calls making phone calls and connecting with prospective customers online), you’re a novice.

4) You’ve Got To Decide on If You Want To Get To $100,000 Monthly On A 1, 2 or 3 Year Method:

– 1 Year Strategy: Communicate To thirty Individuals Each Day About Your Business venture(20 Day Month)

– 2 year Strategy: Talk on the phone To twenty People Per Day About Your Business venture

– 3 Year Strategy: Talk To 10 People Per Day About Your Business.

“Nothing Less and No Substitutes! The Law of Diminishing Intent”

5) You Have To Gain knowledge of How To Recognize The Landmines and Stay clear of Them. Primarily, remember to keep it very simple. “Simplicity is Evidence of The Most Advanced Teachings.”-Mark Yarnell

How To Write Many Articles Per Day

Article writing can take time and effort and if you don’t know what you’re doing, chances are you’ll get stuck. So what could you do to write several articles per day? Many people who enter the online arena give up because they don’t see results after submitting a few articles. Well, you won’t see results from just a few articles. You have to write and test article traffic conversions… write and test again. It’s a simple process…

Here’s what you need to do in order to write several articles per day:

First, you need to find a time in the day that you are more likely to be motivated. You see, you’ll have different motivation levels at different times of the day. And if you want to succeed with article writing, then you need to find the perfect time for you. I find that writing in the morning is perfect for me. This is because I’m well rested and ready to take massive action in my business. So find the time that works best for you, and write those articles!

Second, plan ahead. Do you really think that you’ll be able to write several articles per day if you don’t have a plan? Well, I don’t think so. So what could you do to develop a plan? I suggest that you research your topic and find out what people are searching for. Then you’ll have a better idea how you can meet their needs. Once you know what people want, you’ll easily be able to write several times a day and increase your traffic.

Third, write only about what you know really well. If you were to try and research every day and come up with new topics to write about, you would never get anything done. So make it your priority to write about what you know. Trust me… this makes it much easier to get things done.

Fourth, write your articles with a conversational tone. If you’re having a difficult time writing many articles a day, you should lighten up a little and write from the heart. You’ll be surprised at how well this works. Just think of something in your topic that you enjoy and write about. Include your personal opinion on the subject and ask your reader’s questions. This will make your articles more interactive and easier to write.

Hope you like this article. To your writing success!

How Many Calories Do You Burn by Walking?

The calories you burn by walking depend on two factors: your weight and the distance you walk.

Ideal for people of all ages, walking is kinder to your joints with most people being able to walk comfortably for a longer period of time than if they were to run.

Remember too, the heavier you are, the more calories you burn doing any activity, even sedentary ones.

Based on your weight in pounds and walking at a speed of 3 miles per hour (20-minute mile), you burn calories at the following rates:

130 to 140 pounds – 3.5 calories burned per minute or 70 calories per mile

145 to 155 pounds – 4.0 calories burned per minute or 80 calories per mile

160 to 170 pounds – 4.5 calories burned per minute or 90 calories per mile

175 to 185 pounds – 5.0 calories burned per minute or 100 calories per mile

190 to 200 pounds – 5.5 calories burned per minute or 110 calories per mile

205 to 215 pounds – 6.0 calories burned per minute or 120 calories per mile

So for example, if you weigh 150 pounds and walk at an average speed of 3 miles an hour, you burn about 4 calories per minute. Walking 30 minutes a day 5 days a week burns 120 calories a day and 600 calories a week.

If you fall outside this range, for every 10 pounds add or subtract 0.5 calories. For example, if you weigh 235 pounds and walk 3 miles per hour, you will burn 7 calories per minute. Walking 30 minutes a day 5 days a week burns 1050 calories per week.

Expressed as calories burned per mile when walking:

weight in pounds 100 120 140 160 180 200 220 250 275 300 pounds

2.0 miles per hour 57 68 80 91 102 114 125 142 156 170

2.5 miles per hour 55 65 76 87 98 109 120 136 150 164

3.0 miles per hour 53 64 74 85 95 106 117 133 146 159

3.5 miles per hour 52 62 73 83 94 104 114 130 143 156

4.0 miles per hour 57 68 80 91 102 114 125 142 156 170

4.5 miles per hour 64 76 89 102 115 127 140 159 175 191

5.0 miles per hour 73 87 102 116 131 145 160 182 200 218

If you work with metric:

2.0 miles = 3.2 kilometers

2.5 miles = 4.0 kilometers

3.0 miles = 4.8 kilometers

3.5 miles = 5.6 kilometers

4.0 miles = 6.4 kilometers

4.5 miles = 7.2 kilometers

5.0 miles = 8.0 kilometers

Walking 3.0 miles per hour is referred to as a 20-minute mile

Walking 3.5 miles per hour is referred to as a 17-minute mile

Walking 4.0 miles per hour is referred to as a 15-minute mile

Walking 4.5 miles per hour is referred to as a 13-minute mile.

The reason you burn more calories per mile at very low speeds, ‘museum walking’, is because with each step you stop and start without momentum driving you forward. At the other end of the spectrum, walking at very high speeds of 4.5 miles per hour using a race-walking stride and arm motion, more muscle groups are brought into play, resulting in you burning extra calories with each step.

When you start out and wish to burn as many calories as possible, do so by gradually walking further, rather than walking faster.

When you feel ready to work on your speed, for optimal fat burning, walk for 30 minutes at a pace where your breathing is noticeable but you can carry on a conversation in full sentences. This would be 60% to 70% of your maximum heart rate.

If you want to increase your pace even more, learn how to race-walk. The unusual gait enables you to walk at speeds in excess of 5 miles per hour, building shapely muscle (especially your butt and legs), resulting in you burning more calories even when resting.

Many people, including cardiologists, say you burn the same number of calories running a distance as you do walking it; the only difference is the runner would do it in less time than the walker.

Runner’s World report differently. They say according to tests carried out by them, running is harder and burns more calories than walking for speeds less than 12-minutes per mile. But at 5 miles per hour and faster, walking burns more calories than running. The reason for this is probably because walking at very fast speeds forces your body to move in an inefficient and unnatural way, boosting your heart rate, oxygen consumption and calorie burn.

Whichever option you choose, walking is an excellent form of exercise. Do it regularly, most days if possible.

Both obesity and inactivity are growing problems. Walking five or six days a week improves your aerobic fitness, strengthens your bones, helps fight disease, enhances your psychological well being, reduces stress, increases your metabolism, strengthens your muscles, increases your flexibility, improves your respiratory function, and helps your concentration and memory.

Regardless of your weight and age, when walking becomes a habit, it clearly improves the quality of your life.

Fan Calculations – Measure Airflow with CFM

With one formula, you can find what fan is right for your home. This is the formula for fan CFM: Cubic feet per minute, more commonly known as CFM is calculated by the following formula: air speed (feet per minute) X area (square feet)=CFM. Not everyone is going to take a look at CFM, but for those who do it is a helpful tool. In simpler words than that of the formula, it is the amount of air a fan moves.

The amount of air depends on some other factors as well, such as the diameter and shape of the blades, speed at which the blades turn (revolutions per minute or rpm), horsepower (hp) of the motor, and overall fan design. These combined factors establish the air moving capacity of a fan. Fan capacity is measured in terms of the cubic feet, and again, this is how CFM (cubic feet per minute is determined.)

CFM and RPM are the two most important things to look for in a fan, so that you are guaranteed correct and effective operation. If you only know the RPM, and not the CFM, or vice versa, you should feel confident in your fan purchase. As long as you know one of the calculations, you are ensured of a well-working fan. However, if you are not satisfied with these calculations, this is not the only criteria one can use for evaluating fan performance.

One of the main qualifications, second to rpm and CFM measurement is noise level or decibel rating, followed by the next qualification of vibration. Look for fan noise levels rated in sones or decibels. Check these if the CFM or RPM still leave you unsettled about your fan choice.

A standard measurement of airflow indicates how many cubic feet of air passes by a stationary point in one minute. The higher the number, the more air is being forced through the system. The volumetric flow rate of a liquid or gas in cubic feet per minute equals the CFM, and one CFM equals approximately 2 liters per second.

Fan manufacturers base their measurements on a standard measurement with clean, dry air at a density of 0.075 pounds mass per cubic foot, barometric pressure at sea level of 29.92 inches of mercury, and a temperature of 70°F. These standard measurements are used to determine SCFM: Standard Cubic Feet Per Minute.

With the use of CFM and RPM, you can make a more educated choice when choosing your home ceiling, exhaust, or table fan, and know what you are getting!
