DVD Movie Rentals – Advantages of Online Movie Rentals

You don’t have to wait in line or leave your home to rent DVD movies online. You can take as much time as you want browsing online databases for movies and films of interest. You can do everything from the privacy of your home or from anywhere as long as you have access to a computer and an internet connection. After you’ve selected the movies that you want to rent, you just click a button and the DVDs are sent to your home for you to view and enjoy. After you’re done with them, you simply return them to the movie rental service via a prepaid mailer.

Compared to renting from a shop offline, online DVD movie rentals are far much cheaper. You’ll get better prices and you can easily compare different services using an online shopping comparison search engine. This can save you money as well as help you get a service that best suits your needs. Some rental shops have online versions where they offer web only prices. You would have to sign up from their website in order to benefit from the cheaper prices being offered.

Another advantage is convenience. With internet rentals, you don’t need to go out to the store to get your favorite movies. Just logon to their site and browse and select titles online from the comfort of your own home or from anywhere. The movies you select are posted to you for free and you can return them by post for free too.

Most online movie rentals services don’t charge any late fees or set due dates. You can keep them as long as you want! They don’t impose any dates by which you have to return the DVD’s that you take out. This means also that there are not late return charges. Watch your DVD’s without fear of a charge for returning them late.

Another great benefit using an online DVD rental service is that you get a much wider and larger selection of movie titles to choose from. Some sites have collections upwards of 100, 000 titles so there’s definitely more movie titles to choose from on the internet than from your local shop. This means you will have a better chance of finding those rare to get movies and films.

Probably one of the best things about online rentals is the fact that almost all the services offer a completely Risk Free Trial period for new members. They will let you try their service before you join and it will cost you absolutely nothing.

Most Disturbing Movie Sex Scenes Ever

Sex scenes in films are normally romantic, sensual and steamy. Sometimes they’re a little awkward, sometimes funny or amusing, and sometimes a tad disturbing. Then there are the scenes that are just downright disgusting.

In honour of Universal Pictures’ The Change-up, which is out on Blu-ray and DVD from 23rd January, these filthy sex scenes are exactly what we’re celebrating. In the film, Mitch (Ryan Reynolds) has a weekly rendezvous with Tatiana (Mircea Monroe), a 9-months pregnant woman he apparently met at childbirth class. While she’s lovely, the scene is anything but as she charges into the flat demanding wild animal sex.

Feeling quite sorry for Dave (Jason Bateman), who is trapped in Mitch’s body at the time of the encounter, we decided to trawl through the past two decades and relive other films that made us wince, cringe, and cover our eyes.

10. Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, 2004

Kumar (Kal Penn) shows the world just how intense a love affair with drugs can be as he moans in pleasure during sex with a giant bag of weed. While seemingly every stoner’s dream come true, it’s questionable how this asexual bag of marijuana is able to do much without any actual body parts.

9. American Pie, 1999

In one of the most classic sex-with-an-inanimate-object scenes, we cringe as Jim (Jason Biggs) is caught by his dad having sex with his mother’s freshly made pie. It forever changed the meaning of warm apple pie and made us ponder the similarities between baked goods and sex.

8. Jack Frost, 1996

Jim’s American Pie crush Shannon Elizabeth was previously crushed by a killer snowman in this cult classic, most notable for its hilariously poor acting. While intended to be a frightening rape scene, the result is a sordid sexual encounter between a snowman and a teen girl. Besides the fact that Frosty looks like a giant marshmallow, the grossest part is probably that he is poking her with his carrot nose.

7. Good Luck Chuck, 2007

Having women literally lining up to sleep with you probably sounds like heaven to most men. Chuck (Dane Cook) learns it can be the opposite when you’re doing it with the type of freaks that are more focused on praying to God the Saviour than pleasing you, or have a tattoo that reads George W. above her, um, bush.

6. Step Brothers, 2008

Dale (John C. Reilly) is taken by surprise in the men’s toilet when his step brother’s wife goes stalker crazy and demands sex. After hopping onto his bits and thrusting back and forth in a way that oddly resembles a woodpecker, she tells him to ‘Stay golden, pony boy’ before lifting a leg and taking a wee in the urinal. Dale thinks it’s incredible, which it kind of is if you’re into quick, woodpecker sex and women that wee like men.

5. Team America: World Police, 2004

In this controversial sex scene (nine edits had to be shown to the Motion Picture Association of America before they would approve it), we see puppets go at it from every possible angle their plastic bodies will allow. While their creepy smiles don’t change at all during the romp, their positions do quite a bit – with each one making us wonder more and more what the heck we’re doing watching disturbing doll sex.

4. The Hangover Part II, 2011

While we don’t actually see the sex scene between Stu (Ed Helms) and the Thai transvestite he has emotional sex with while black out drunk, our imagination is free to conjure up some pretty dirty images. What we do get to see is Stu’s priceless reaction as ‘she’ reveals her private parts and he comes to terms with the fact that he made love to a she-he.

3. The Change-Up, 2011

Dave (Jason Bateman), while trapped in Mitch’s (Ryan Reynolds) body, is seduced by a very pregnant and horny woman, who is expecting her weekly sex session. She lunges toward him, her enormous nude belly leading the way, and attacks the repulsed Dave-as-Mitch. Yes, pregnant women are beautiful, but not when you can see their baby’s foot protruding through their enlarged stomach. The next scene isn’t much better, as Mitch-as-Dave is privy to Dave’s naked wife taking a massive poo on the toilet.

2. Bad Santa, 2003

Billy Bob Thornton shows us a side of Santa we never wanted to see when he engages in anal sex with a prostitute in the dressing room at work. The scene pretty much destroys the visions we had as children of jolly old Saint Nick and his sweet Mrs. Claus.

1. Kingpin, 1996

Roy Munson (Woody Harrelson) opts for repulsive sex with his landlady in lieu of paying rent. Post sex, as he is projectile vomiting in the toilet, she questions the relationship between good sex and a good crap: ‘What is it about good sex that always makes me have to crap? Guess it’s all that pumping. Pump and dump.’ How poetic.

How to Attend a Movie Premiere

Ever wanted to rub shoulders with celebrities such as Britney Spears, Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan? Did you know that tickets for most movie premieres are often free and available to the general public? Many people have heard about movie screenings or see celebrity snapshots from the red carpet in fashion magazines. However, the quest to attend one of these events often remains a mystery. Here are six VIP tips to ensure you find tickets and seats inside world premieres and advance movie screenings.

1- Know where to look.

Movie screening locations will be advertised in the entertainment section of local newspapers or online. Newspaper ads will require you to RSVP to an email or pick up the tickets from a physical location. Online movie screening recruitment companies such as Movie Filler provide information, news and a movie screening locator about free movie tickets to screenings and movie premieres.

2- Check back frequently.

If you thought discount airline tickets were tough to get your hands on, wait until trying to get movie screening tickets. Although tickets are generally free, they have a tendency to sell out quickly. Checking websites that distribute screening tickets on a regular basis provides a higher chance of reserving a ticket. In addition, make sure to sign up for any electronic newsletters to keep informed as new screenings are posted.

3- Update personal information.

Make sure any personal information you provide is updated and correct. Tickets are often distributed based on specific demographic. Having your information correct will increase your chances for getting invited to world premiers and movie screenings you would actually want to attend.

4- Plan to arrive early.

Movie premieres and screenings are often overbooked to ensure that the theater is full. Those that arrive early will have the best chance to get available seating inside the theater. A general rule of thumb is to arrive around 60 minutes before a movie screening and at least 120 minutes before a movie premiere.

5- Leave camera phones in the car.

When it comes to piracy, studios take no chances. Recording devices will not be allowed into movie screenings. There will usually be several security officers performing a search as you enter the event. If you have a camera phone, they will ask you to return it to your car. Avoid losing your place in line and make sure to leave it in your vehicle.

6- Prepare your review.

Audience interviews won’t happen at every screening. However, if you see a film crew, be assertive and volunteer to be interviewed. Remember to be as descriptive as possible when describing your thoughts about the movie and steer away from one-word answers. After the shoot, monitor online video sites like YouTube and MySpace Videos, then brag to your friends.

A Review of the Movie Blind Side

I recently watched the movie The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock. It was a chick flick that would benefit everyone. The short answer is that I would give it 4 1/2 stars. If you want to know why then keep reading.

The movie had lots of opportunities to become very tense and dramatic and blissfully they didn’t take it in those awful directions. The base premise of the movie is bad enough because it highlights the dreadful conditions of many inner city kids and their complete lack of education and opportunity. They come from such horrible conditions and are lucky to make it out alive.

For “Big Mike” the story started off poorly as he’s shuffled from one foster home to another and then is mercifully picked up by the Tuehy family and it blossoms into a true family relationship.

After watching the movie I felt a bit low. Low because I would love to help others the way the Tuehy’s helped Mike, yet I have so many issues of distrust and misgivings, and just sheer laziness. I’m hoping movies like this one will motivate me to do more for those who have less.

I also decided from the first second she came on camera that I love Sandra Bullocks character. She’s tough, go-getting and works hard for her family. She may seem like a clueless southern belle, but she’s far from it. I want to be her. She has money, taste, class and generosity. Her outlook on life is positive and she works to change the world one person at a time. I would love to hang out with her for an hour or a year.

I recommend that everyone see this movie to gain perspective on what life is like for the less advantaged. It will hopefully teach a lot of us to stop taking so much for granted to give more to others.

Finding Movie Reviews Online

When you are thinking about seeing a certain movie but don’t know if it is any good, you will want to look online for movie reviews from those who have already seen it. Going on sites like rottentomatoes.com will give you an idea as to what the critics think about the movie you are thinking about seeing. When you look on sites like these, usually there will be an audience rating and a critic rating which is presented in the form of a percentage. If the movie that you are considering has a low overall percentage with either viewers or critics, that’s not necessarily a reason to discount seeing it.

In order to find out whether or not a certain movie is worth your time, looking into a few movie reviews only from individual viewers and professional critics is probably a good idea, just so you will be able to get a sense of what they think about it. People whose job it is to review movies can identify all of the hallmarks of a bad film, which is why it’s something a good idea to look at their opinion. To get an idea as to whether or not these reviews will be helpful, try looking at ones for movies you have already seen so you can a feel for just how spot on they actually are. If you find that a lot of the movies you like have bad reviews on a particular website, you might not want to use it.

Lots of movie buffs are wasting their hard earned dollars going to these terrible movies when they really should just taken the time to view a movie review site. Now you can be one step ahead of the game by getting an honest movie review from others who have seen it by simply going to one of the many movie review sites on the Internet.

The Movie "Pretty Woman" and the Law of Attraction

Pretty Woman is the movie that made the brilliant Julia Roberts, famous. It is an excellent movie to discuss the Law of Attraction. What one focuses on, EXPANDS and everything that comes to us, we attract through our EMOTIONS, or often called, our VIBRATION. Julia plays the role of Vivian, a woman who is prostituting in order to make enough money to pay her bills. She lives with Kit another prostitute. Right from the start of the movie, it is clear that Vivian so WANTS more in her life.

The concept of WANTING is integral to the teachings of the LAW OF ATTRACTION. Everything that we WANT (or ask for) is always given, ASK AND IT IS GIVEN. In order to receive that which we ask for, we must get into high positive emotion and trust and know that it will come forth.

In the beginning, Kit has just used their rent money to pay a pimp and Vivian is furious. When Vivian confronts Kit, Kit says, “don’t irritate me,” Vivian responds by saying angrily, “irritate you, irritate you, I just saw a girl being taken out of a dumpster, don’t you want to get out of here! This sets the audience knowing that she believes there is much more for herself in life and that her present situation is temporary in her mind.

Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) is an unhappy very rich man, who is, as he states, “screwing” people for money. He is introduced by not having a good time at his own party. He decides to leave in his lawyer’s car and go back to his hotel. As he is driving past the spot where Vivian and Kit are hustling that evening, he is having trouble driving the Lotus Supreme that he has borrowed. Vivian just happens to know a lot about cars and as she approaches him to solicit him as a customer, she offers to show Edward the way to his hotel for $20. One can see her fiesty nature in this exchange. She has a confidence that is strong and she speaks with clarity.

Edward invites her up to his penthouse suite. At first, she is only going to stay an hour, then the evening and then Edward invites her to spend the week with him for $3000. “I will pay you to be at my “beckon call” for the whole week, he declares. For both of them it is a business venture. Their romantic relationship begins the first night.

Their first evening together, Edward works all night. In the morning Vivian says,”You don’t sleep, you don’t drink, you don’t do drugs, what do you do Edward? “What do you do?” she asks. “I buy companies and sell them, then, I break the companies up into pieces and sell them parts off. Parts of a company are worth more than the whole.” Vivian then comments that he actually does not sell anything or make anything. This begins the process for Edward of being more conscious of what he actually does. It creates a dissonance inside that was not evident before. Where is the meaning for him in what he does?

Vivian’s entrance into the world of wealth and beautiful things that she has been WANTING, begins. She is given money by Edward to buy clothes and jewelry, that transform her into an even more gorgeous woman. The whole week is filled with activities that only people with money enjoy. Her ease into abundance clearly shows that she has already been seeing herself as abundant. It has been part of her plan for a long time.

The understanding that something never just come forth into one’s experience, it has been “being manifested” for a while in one’s mind and emotions. This is how the Law of Attraction works, everything is created in thought first before it manifests.

In the beginning, Barney, the hotel manager, sees Vivian walking through the hotel dressed as a prostitute. He calls her into his office to scrutinize her for her “inappropriate behavior.” He elicits her frustration during this meeting because she has just been denied service in some clothing stores because of how she is dressed. Being moved by her distress, he calls his good friend, Bridget, who works at a women’s clothing shop. Bridget is kind and relaxes Vivian, as she assists her in outer beauty transformation.

As a viewer, seeing Vivian’s transformation happen so quickly is exhilarating. It shows her confidence and her self-esteem bloom.

Edward Lewis’ unethical and unkind business practices show themselves at the dinner with Mr. Morris and his grandson David. Morris, another business man is in financial difficulty and has to sell his company, even though he does not want to let it go. Mr. Morris and David both abruptly leave the dinner early because they are so upset with Edward’s practices of tearing up companies and selling the pieces and mostly his arrogance.

Later that evening, Vivian says, “I think you like Mr. Morris.” She begins to become his conscience. Edward has obviously not been feeling good about his work because he is quick to dismiss her. He replies, the truth is, it is really totally irrelevant whether I like this man or not, I will not let myself get emotionally involved in business, insists Edward”

Vivian shares “when I’m with a man I just stay numb, I don’t get involved……I don’t get emotional when I am turning tricks, I don’t kiss on the mouth. When I’m with a guy, I’m like a robot, I just do it.”

Edward replies, “You and I are such similar creatures Vivian, we both screw people for money.” His realization that he has attracted someone with similar vibration is clear. Also, his discontent about who he is increases. Edward’s transformation and new desires begins as Vivian heightens his awareness of what he does for money It is clearly beginning to trouble him. As well, his affection for Vivian is becoming stronger.

One evening at a polo event that he takes Vivian to, Edward ends up telling Stucky, his lawyer, that Vivian is a hooker. Stucky makes a very unkind remark to Vivian, when they are alone and Vivian is furious with Edward. Her anger is refreshing and empowering for her and here Edward realizes that he has crossed a line that is unacceptable. Just before she is about to go into the elevator to leave the apartment, he comes and apologizes to her, promising never to do something like this again, admitting, “it was stupid and cruel. He also admits he was jealous of her talking with David Morris.”

“You hurt me, DON’T do it again,” she firmly states. After this encounter, they begin to gain a much better understanding of each other and their love begins to blossom. Vivian shares how she got into being a hooker and comments that “if people put you down enough, you start to believe it.” He replies,”I think you are a very bright, very special woman.”

Obviously, they both have been asking for a love relationship of great significance because they have attracted each other. It is fun to watch the unfolding of their love. I like the humor, mixed with affection that is displayed.

Edward begins to soften into who he really is, behind the tough business man façade. He starts to play, have fun, be light and fall in love with Vivian. And at the next business meeting with Mr. Morris he invites him to go into business together and build ships with him. “I know longer wish to buy your company and take it apart and I find myself in unfamiliar territory, I want to help you!” Mr. Morris says “I am proud of you” to which Edward replies, thank you.”

It is clear that Edward is moving into his true self, the loving, kind and powerful man he truly is. Vivian has inspired him into his kindness. The day before their deal is up, Edward says “I’d really love to see you again. I’ve arranged to have an apartment and a car and some money and any number of other things arranged for you.” It is then that Vivian reaches clarity and shares her dream of what it is that she really WANTS. “I want to be loved by a handsome prince, I WANT the whole package, the house, the white picket fence, the husband, everything. She realizes that she will not settle for less than the entire dream.

In a conversation with Kit, who came to the hotel to visit her, Kit realizes that she has fallen in love with Edward. In their conversation, the the only person that they can think of that it has fully worked out for is “Cinderella.” They both laugh. In the last scenes Vivian says to Edward “you made me a really nice offer and now everything has changed, you changed that and now I WANT more.” Edward replies “I know about wanting more, I invented the concept. The question is how much more.” Vivian says “I want the fairy tale.”

Edward says “impossible relationships.” Vivian leaves saying to him “I think you have a lot of special gifts.” This is a wonderful moment where one realizes that even though he has all the money, it is not what really matters. This is not what brings true happiness and joy.

When Edward gets driven to the airport with the same driver who drove Vivian home the day before, he ends up stopping to buy flowers and then asks the driver to go to Vivian’s with opera music blaring in the background. Vivian hears the music and as Edward climbs up the steep stairs to her apartment with the flowers in his mouth and says, “so what happened after he climbed up the tower and he rescued her,” she replies, “she rescues him right back.” A statement expressing her own self-confidence and sense of empowerment and clarity on exactly what it is she WANTS, having been willing to lose it all with Edward if the whole dream was not in place.

Two people are now in alignment with Source Energy and their deepest desires. Both Julia Roberts and Richard Gere do a wonderful job in this movie. Their acting is exquisite. The LAW OF ATTRACTION is the process of desire, reaching for that which is WANTED and then calling it forth with our thoughts and emotions, until it feels right to act from inspiration. I delight in how the movie makers here have created such a great story.

What Is The Symbolic Message Behind This Movie

Disney’s big-budget adaptation of the best-selling novel “A Wrinkle in Time” falters in many of the same ways the book does- but there was one major change made in the movie from the novel. The film’s version of events strips away explicit mention of God or religion, instead trimming down the central conflict to one between “evil” and “light.”

Though the film adaptation has several critical flaws – namely pacing and an off-kilter wobble between too much exposition and then not enough – the removal of L’Engle’s religious overtones leads to a key issue.

By removing the religious themes, the movie version of “A Wrinkle in Time” loses part of its narrative arc. This leads to a confusing storyline and muddled message when it comes to the antagonist and the purpose of the celestial characters of Mrs. Who, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Which.

Christianity is integral to the book version of “A Wrinkle in Time”

Author Madeleine L’Engle, who died in 2007 at age 88, spoke about the importance of her own Christian faith as it relates to “A Wrinkle in Time.”

“If I’ve ever written a book that says what I feel about God and the universe, this is it,” L’Engle reportedly wrote in her journal. “This is my psalm of praise to life, my stand for life against death.”

Calvin (Levi Miller) and Meg (Storm Reid) travel through the galaxy together. Disney

The core story the “A Wrinkle in Time” book is the journey of Meg and Charles Wallace Murray as they try to find and rescue their father.

A friend, Calvin, helps them along the way. The trio is guided by three mysterious beings – Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which – to a dark planet called Camazotz where Mr. Murray is being held by an evil force.

The three Mrs. Ws are mysterious beings who materialize in different forms and have different uses of language. At one point, Mrs. Whatsit transforms into “a creature more beautiful than any Meg had even imagined [… ] she was a marble white body with powerful flanks, something like a horse but at the same time completely unlike a horse.”

Later, the children watch as a star battles the evil shadow – the “Dark Things” which the Mrs. Ws tell the children they need to fight in order to save Mr. Murray. Charles Wallace realizes that Mrs. Whatsit was once a star too, and lost her star-form after battling the Evil.

Mr. Murray (Chris Pine) has been imprisoned by the evil force. Disney

As the Mrs. explain the Dark Thing as an evil “power of darkness,” they tell the children that fighters have been battling the Evil in the universe for many thousands of years.

“Jesus! Why of course, Jesus!” Charles Wallace yells when Mrs. Whatsit tells the children they know who the best fighters have been.

Meg and Calvin chime in with other fighters, including Leonardo da Vinci and Gandhi and Buddha.

Later in the book, Meg and Calvin are struggling to explain what the Mrs. beings are. Finally Calvin finds the words, and calls them “angels” and “messengers of God.”

As Meg gets closer to facing the evil (also called “IT”), she is told that God has called her to his purpose by both Mr. Murray and the angels.

Mindy Kaling plays Mrs. Who in the movie version of “A Wrinkle in Time.” Disney

Before Meg re-enters Camazotz to face IT for the final time, Mrs. Who leaves her with the following quote from Corinthians:

“God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called, but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are.”

The movie skips over the religious themes and generalizes “good vs. evil”

Instead of relying on a message from God or using the Mrs. Ws as stand-ins for angels, the movie version of “A Wrinkle in Time” generalizes the idea of evil spreading throughout the galaxy.

“IT” is jealousy, fear, and anger, and the Mrs. Ws tell the children that it must be fought by warriors of light and good.

Mrs. Whatsit transforms into what looks like a flying plant-goddess instead of a white horse-like figure, and the topic of stars (or Mrs. Whatsit being a former star) is never invoked. The children also never refer to the Mrs. Ws as angels or messengers of God.

In the movie, Mrs. Whatsit changes into this creature instead.Disney

In the book, Mr. Murray tessers, or sends through time and space, Meg and Calvin away from Camazotz after he realizes IT and the hypnotized Charles Wallace are about to imprison them all.

Once they are safely on another planet, Meg confronts her father’s cowardice and chooses to go back alone to save Charles Wallace.

In the book, that’s when Mrs. Who tells Meg the Corinthians quote about God being wiser than men.

But the movie skips this sequence, instead making it so Meg is simply left behind with Charles Wallace. She comes to realize on her own that loving not only herself but Charles Wallace will bring him back to her. Love in the face of evil is the ultimate weapon.

The story never quite comes together because of the narrative changes

Though Meg’s journey to finding self-worth is a valuable narrative, “A Wrinkle in Time” fails to fully explain anything that’s going on. Not only is the IT made entirely abstract (whereas in the book IT takes the form a disembodied brain), but the reason the children have to fight IT is also obscured by prose about “being a warrior of light.”

And with the removal of the Mrs. being angels or messengers, their role is also muddled. Where did they come from? They simply say they heard a call in the universe, but how? Why? Have they done this before? What is their real form?

These questions are skated over in the books, too, but Calvin’s declaration that they are angels brings a much-needed piece of clarity. Without this section in the movie, their presence is compelling but ultimately lacks explanation.

Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey) is one of the beings who helps Meg in her journey. Disney and while Meg’s arc in the movie is rightfully highlighted, the entire third act falls apart because it’s not made clear what she’s fighting.

In the movie, Charles Wallace becomes trapped in IT’s control during a confusing sequence on a colorful beach where the children are met by the Man with Red Eyes. But the disembodied brain version of IT is never shown. Instead, the evil version of Charles Wallace becomes the main antagonist for the remainder of the movie, making it both confusing and more creepy than some might be expecting.

Though DuVernay and the screenwriters had no obligation to keep the Christian themes in the movie, the changes that they made seem to have warped the pacing and clarity of the story.

By taking out the religious reasoning behind the Mrs. Ws appearance, and removing the physical manifestation of IT, the movie version of “A Wrinkle in Time” was left incomplete. The biblical inspirations could have (and should have) been replaced with a more cohesive plot that carried the film to its final climax.

As critics continue reacting to “A Wrinkle in Time” with disappointment and confusion, it’s not hard to trace the movie’s issues back to the narrative shifts made.

National Lampoon’s Vacation (Movie Review)

One of the funniest movies of all time, National Lampoon’s Vacation tells the story of a bungling middle-class man’s quest to provide his family with the ultimate family vacation. Complete with a series of laughable diversions along the way, and great casting that provides for a number of hilarious supporting characters, Vacation is a cult comedy classic. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo form the perfect married couple comedy duo with a banter that is simply magical, and the comic screenplay is well-written with sequence of never-ending laughter…

When Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) decides to take his Chicago family on a trip to Wally World, his wife Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), along with kids Rusty (Anthony Michael Hall) and Audrey (Dana Barron), try to convince him they should fly. But Clark is intent on taking the new “family truckster” (a brand new lemon he recently purchased) on a cross country drive so as to “see America” along the way. Clark wins the argument, and the family sets off on a nefarious and unforgettable excursion across the Fruited Plain. With a non-stop series of disasters – beginning in the driveway – the Griswold family struggles to deal with hubcap thieves, their Cousin Eddie, vibrating hotel beds, a dead aunt, a tortured dog, and Clark’s insistence on viewing the world’s largest pile of dirt.

When the Griswolds finally reach the end destination of Wally World, Clark and Rusty race to the entrance against the background music for “Chariots of Fire”. But to Clark’s dismay, Wally World’s notable moose character informs them that Wally World is closed for repairs. Flying off the handle, and intent on giving his family the best vacation ever, Clark purchases a handgun and barges into the park. Forcing a security guard (John Candy) to take his family on the various rides via gunpoint, Clark triggers a massive display of police authority on behalf of the local SWAT team…

Sporting hilarious supporting appearances by Randy Quaid, John Candy, and supermodel Christie Brinkley (a Ferrari-driving blonde whose infatuation with Clark threatens to breakup the Griswold marriage), National Lampoon’s Vacation is the quintessential comedy classic. If you’re one of the few people on earth who has managed to miss this one, then I definitely recommend going out and renting it right now. Rated R (by 1983 standards; minus some brief nudity, it would rate as PG today), Vacation is a film you can feel comfortable watching with your children. After all, I saw it when I was five, and I turned out all right! What Makes A Good Movie

Art is reflection of our society and life and movies are often regarded as modern expressions of art. They make us laugh and cry and we often love to quote them, they edify us enlighten us.

Every year numerous movies are made in the entertainment industries but all are not liked: some top the charts while others are kicked out of the box office. Some become the hot topic of discussion for the critics while others just escapes their notice, in short some get a thumps up while others a thumps down.

But how many of these, which get a positive feedback, are actually good movies? Well it is not that simple to answer, as it seems. The topic is very much subjective. What seems good to some may not be the same for the others. What appears enjoyable to a few others might be enjoyable for others. Then what exactly is a good movie? To generalize it, we can say that those movies, which are liked by the mass and not by some class category of people, could be considered as a good movie. But what are the traits that are needed for a movie to qualify as a good one. First of all a movie should provide good entertainment. They are of course others:

Touch our feelings: A movie should touch our heart and make us talk or think about it instead of just becoming a time pass. It should have the capacity to teach and inspire us and provoke us emotionally.

Educative: It should be able to let us know about something new. Nowadays movies are considered to be one of the most effective educational tools used to teach or educate people regarding certain issues. In short a good movie should have some educative value for the masses.

Mirror of the society: A good movie must also provide some elements of encouragement and inspire people towards successfully overcoming barriers. Movies are regarded as the mirror of life. Every story of a movie is more or less inspired by our life, by what happens around us.

But this is not all; there are some other factors also which contribute in making a movie, to be considered as good. Following are the points:

The Plot: This is the most important part of the movie. Without a good plot a movie fails to attract and retain the viewers in the theaters. Even if they were drawn to it initially for some reasons, people would loose interest sooner than later.

The Characters: The second most significant factor of any good movie is the characters of the story. Without them there would be no story and no plot. Characters should be such, that the audience likes them. Be it a positive character or negative one. They should have some qualities to which the people can relate.

Actors: We need good actors to make a good movie. Actors, who can justify the characters and make them, come alive in front of the audience. They must be able to portray the characters well so that people say that the characters are made keeping them in mind. They should blend themselves into the characters.

Script: Without dialogues movies look dead. Script is the life of movies so they should be very strong and appealing. They can even make people come and see the movie repeatedly.

Last but not the least, visual display of a movie with beautiful scenes and sceneries can also influence and draw people to the theaters.
