All You Need to Know When Moving Offices

Are you looking to relocate your office space and in need of some key information and expert advice on the best strategies? Moving offices can be a highly stressful task – you are essentially relocating your entire business – which is why you need to be aware of some do’s and don’ts. Here are 7 top tips to ensure that your big office move is as quick, easy and as manageable as possible:

1. Assessment, objectives and planning

It is key to start by assessing your current and future business needs. Make sure you detail clearly the reasons for relocating as well as the short and long terms requirements and growth prospects for your business in order to map out a relevant office move and plan.

Set up a list of key objectives are clearly detailed and ensure that you gather as much information as possible on the move including contractual details (e.g lease, notice period) as well as financial information to ensure these are in line with your objectives and plan.

2. Choose a suitable removal company

Choosing a suitable removal company is one of the first aspects to consider for the big move. It is key to consider the services provided such as packing, moving equipment as well as insurance, expertise and referrals. It is also important that your main point of contact understands your requirements and specific business needs such as managing expensive or specialist equipment. Don’t just choose the cheapest company that you can find – work out where their specialities lie beforehand.

3. Packing

When packing, it would be best to separate possessions into individual piles. Then, pack those items into separate boxes with names clearly labelled so that items can be easily identified when unpacking. Small objects such as folders and books should be packaged together so they are easily accessible and larger objects such as filing cabinets don’t need to be unpacked, just locked for security and labelled as per department. This will save you a great amount of time when it comes to setting up your new office, so try to pack as little as possible if you can.

4. Storing

If you are thinking of hiring out a smaller office space to the one you are hiring currently, some of your less-used items could go into a storage space facility. You never know when you may need these pieces of equipment, display or marketing materials and furniture again in the near future, so don’t automatically throw them away. Your storage company may be able to give you advice on what would be best objects to put into storage, so you can have access whenever you need to.

5. Backups

Ensure that all of your data is backed up on your devices and computers to prevent the loss of important business information. Although removal companies aim to handle your equipment with the best care, factors such as data can easily be lost. One idea would be to back up business data on a device that isn’t involved with the move so that it is one less thing you need to worry about on the big day.

6. Plan a new layout

Before you move, plan ahead and have a clear idea of your new office layout so you know exactly which furniture pieces need to make the move. If possible, give a plan to your removal company so they can set up your new office easily. In order for this to work out, you’ll need to measure your new office facility beforehand so that all furniture is guaranteed to fit. It may also help to label objects to stay organised.

7. Give a layout plan to employees

Once you have settled in your new space, provide a layout plan to all employees so they are also aware of the new setup and where important objects and facilities are located. Again, use labelling as a guide, so that everyone can get used to the new location as quickly as possible. It may also be worth asking a few of your staff members to assist with the move to give you a head start and co-ordinate the new workspace efficiently.

How To Move Around In Rome

Traveling to Rome can become an exciting adventure. The splendid architecture, beautiful museums and amazing sights make the city stand out against the background of other famous capitals. However, to enjoy Rome’s splendor in full one should know how to move around in the city.

When in Rome do as the Romans do. Thus, you can use public transport which is a rather popular means of travel among the locals. There are over 200 bus lines, let alone the Express Lines dedicated to long distances, the Electric Lines for the city center transportation, the Night Lines running from 24.00 to 5.30 a.m. and the Exact Lines that operate according to a definite schedule. Trams aren’t numerous, but can be a pleasant alternative while moving around the picturesque streets. As for the metro, there exist two lines which intersect at Termini train station. It works from 5.30 a.m. to 11.30 p.m., and to 00.30 on Saturday. Citizens say the subway is the fastest way to reach your destination, yet it has its own drawbacks, like constantly overcrowded trains and too long tunnels.

The prices for public transport vary, generally depending on the distance. For example, the cheapest ticket (Biglietto Integrato a Tempo) costs EUR 1 and is valid for one trip on the subway or up to 75 minutes on ATAC buses. A one-day ticket for buses and metro with unlimited travel (Biglietto Turistico Integrato) is valid from the moment of validation until midnight and costs EUR 4. You can also buy a three-day ticket (Carta Integrata Settimanale) for EUR 11 or a week-ticket, spending EUR 16. Public transport tickets are available at ATAC counters, automatic ticket dispensers and tobacco stores. The rules require to purchase tickets beforehand and to stamp them as soon as the trip started, yet in reality locals and some experienced tourists validate tickets only in case they see the inspector.

Another way to move around in Rome is to hire a taxi. It is recommended to use white taxis rather than yellow and to choose only those cabs that are standing in special taxi stops. The fact is that along with licensed taxis there are many illegal ones which are likely to ask for unwarranted extra-fee. Normally licensed drivers turn on the meter and surcharge only on holidays, Sundays, before 7 a.m. and after 10 p.m. Going by taxi within the city costs about EUR 7-10, while a trip from the airport requires as much as EUR 45 to be paid.

If you don’t like to hang upon unpredictable public transport or to look for a reliable taxi-driver, you can rent a car and enjoy independent driving experience. The best-known car rental agencies are Europcar, Avis, Hertz and Maggiore which have a wide variety of vehicles to cater to any taste. The important point is that a potential renter should be of the full legal age and have a local, or better international, license.

You can rent a bike or a scooter as well. Such rental agencies as Roma in scooter, Scoot-a-long, Happy rent, I bike in Rome and Bici e Baci are known for high standards of services and care for clients.

Finally, if all the above mentioned doesn’t suit you, travel by foot. Not only it’s healthy but also very useful for your cultural experience. Walking around Rome you can truly admire its rare brilliance and feel the inexpressible spirit of the eternal city.

Top Ten Tips for Packing and Moving

The exhausting nature of shifting homes often leaves one hunting for quick tips and tricks to make it simpler. Here is our list of the most proven tips for packing and moving. These are simple to follow and have a great impact in making it a stress-free experience.

01. Make a Day-wise To Do List

Listing out your moving details is always the first step. Remember, the sooner you get down to do this, the easier it will be for you. It is recommended to do this at least 4 weeks before the move. It doesn’t have to be perfect and you can keep revising it.

02. Toiletries, Important Papers and Jewelry move with You

This is one of the best tips for packing and moving. Whatever the case be, these three item categories cannot be left to anyone else. Before the day of the move, make sure you pack them and keep them with you.

03. Sell Your Old Clutter

If you have unused things lying about in the house, sell them before you move. With online sale being so easy nowadays, these will sell fast without effort. You will lower your total volume and cover a part of your moving cost.

04. Using Handy-man Services for Specialized Electronics

This is another of the awesome, but overlooked tips for packing and moving. If you have items like home theater, R.O. water purifier or similar complex electronic items, you will need specialized help. These items cannot be plugged off and boxed. Ask the respective brands to provide help.

05. Do Your Research on Packers and Movers

When opting for professional help, research is indispensable. With everyone claiming to be the best at what they do, you will have to get down to brass tacks. For example, ask about their use of packing material like bubble wrap and carton quality.

06. Get a Transit Insurance

Just like you buy insurance for your car, transit insurance is an added security. It does not mean that something will necessarily go wrong, but will stop your wallet from hurting if anything does happen. Always go for it.

07. Pending Bills and Services Disconnection

Before you move out, make sure you pay your water and electricity bills. Also remember to disconnect internet and cooking gas services.

08. Change Address and Ensure Amenities at New Home

You don’t want to start at your new place half ready. Before moving in, make sure all the services which you disconnected from your old home are ready at your new place.

09. Attention to Breakables

Even if you hire professionals, it is your crockery, mirror and your fragile showpieces. You must pay special attention to their packing. If they are all packed into a reasonably small box, better carry them in your car.

10. Categorize Items and Label Boxes

When the move starts, make sure you have a marker pen in hand. As soon as any carton gets packed, mark it with your name, box number and which room it will go in. It will make your life a lot easier when unpacking.

We hope that when you decide to shift homes, you get to use these tips for packing and moving. They are sure to make this complex job a simple affair for you.

Hypnosis Cures Procrastination and Self-Sabotage: Unstuck Yourself, Move Forward!

THE SOURCE OF PROCRASTINATION

This may sound familiar: you want to start a project and want to reach a positive goal. However, you put off getting started, because each time you try taking action, for some unknown reason, you experience feelings of distress, confusion and fear. You try to use willpower, but it does not work. Gradually, you start losing motivation and enthusiasm. And eventually you wind up dreading the idea of starting that project, since it involves too much effort and strain.

The source of procrastination, is a subconscious destructive belief about fear of failure, insecurity, or a feeling of unworthiness and perfectionism, all linked to past negative experiences. If some of these memories are too painful, the mind chooses to repress them.

It may even go back to the time when you were still in the womb, when you absorbed negative emotions, your mother might have experienced during her pregnancy. If you were under the age of 7, considering your mind was not able to filter all information you received, most likely you perceived a harmless event to be distressing. This left a disturbing impression in your mind, and your subconscious brain imprinted it as a negative experience. Today, renowned neuroscientists, including Professor Gary Schwartz, suggest there are scientific based facts, showing that we record such destructive memories and false perceptions, not only in the brain, but in the tissues, organs and cells in the body, as well. These “Cellular Memories,” carry the imprints of every experience which has ever happened to us, and the way we felt about each one, like files stored within a computer.

IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT

You have a conscious intention to change your life in a positive way, but you feel stuck, unable to take the necessary action toward a goal. The positive side is that you are not dealing with laziness, lack of discipline, poor determination, or willpower. There is nothing wrong with you, or your skills and mental abilities. The cause of your delaying pattern, is connected to these destructive memories!

Let me bring a metaphor that will give you the whole picture. You love painting, and you have a dream of becoming a famous painter. However, when you were a child, your school’s art projects were poor, your art teacher often stated that you had no talent, therefore, you could never become a successful artist. You experienced a feeling of rejection! Even though this comment might have been wrong, you perceived it as true. This painful memory was recorded in your brain and tissues of your body, and eventually became a subconscious false belief, even if you forgot all about it and went on with your life!

YOUR INNER ALARM SYSTEM

Now as an adult, all the times you try to take the first step towards this goal, somehow, you feel blocked. Without you being aware of, an alarm goes off in your body, preventing you from taking any action. If you are sabotaging a project and putting off getting started, over and over, you are not doing it deliberately. These subconscious negative patterns are keeping you from moving forward and follow through.

Their function is to protect you from experiencing rejection and failure all over again, preventing you from getting hurt. So, even if you forgot some traumatic experiences, their memories still exist deep within your mind and in your cells. They act like a fear-based, defense mechanism, going off into the body, all the time you try to take action. They are always running in the background, like a hidden computer virus. Each time they emit their protective warning signal, the body triggers the autonomic stress response (“fight-or-flight”). Many harmful stress hormones and chemicals, like adrenaline and cortisol, are released into the body. The immune system is temporarily shut off, to divert the whole available energy toward the external threat. Blood flows away from the digestive system and from the brain, to the muscles, preparing to deal with the challenge. The body reacts as if the threat is real, even if a factual threat does not exist. In a moment like this, it is hard to think rationally, and it is easier to retreat and give up. If this occurs repeatedly, it not only affects your personal success, but in the long run, it has a damaging impact on our health as well.

HEALING THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM

Here is the tricky part: merely becoming aware of an unconscious fear or a negative memory, does not resolve your tendency to procrastinate. Neither can you get rid of these inner fears and insecurities, by simply applying willpower, commitment or discipline, which are functions of the cognitive, rational brain. The subconscious mind is much more powerful and stronger than the conscious one. It runs your actions, even if you are not aware of it. It always prevails over the conscious mind!

So in order to resolve your procrastination problem, you need to heal the root cause. You need to reprogram the wrong “software” stored in the computer of your mind and body. You need to heal those negative, limiting beliefs, and transform them into healthy, positive ones! There are successful and scientifically proven ways to achieve this:

1) The most powerful and effective way to reprogram the negative subconscious conditioning is using Hypnotherapy. It allows you to reach the subconscious mind directly, and communicate with it in its own language. Through hypnosis you can neutralize destructive memories and false beliefs which trigger the body’s stress response. You can replace them with positive, true beliefs, completely re-hardwiring the brain.

2) Another way to reach some results, is considering of taking very tiny bits of actions. For example: your goal is to exercise every day to reduce weight. Imposing these unrealistic expectations on your mind, will trigger the stress response in your body. To avoid this, and at the same time take some action, you can start by putting your gym clothes on, (do not put your running shoes on yet), as if you were to go to the gym. But instead stay home, keep your gym outfit on, and eat breakfast as regularly. Do this for few days. After few days, your subconscious mind has become familiar with this new routine, and since further action was taken, it feels safe. Next time, after putting your gym clothes on, you can also put your running shoes on, and still stay home for few days. Now, after putting your outfit and shoes on, you can take your car keys out of your purse, and place them near the door.

Then continue with your breakfast or your morning chores. If you have some gym equipment at home, you can wear your gym outfit and shoes, and take your breakfast to the treadmill. Step on your treadmill and eat your breakfast, without switching the machine on.

Even if you have taken small new actions, your subconscious mind does not feel threatened, and there will be no stress response. Do not be impatient. Eventually, after many microscopic actions, you will reach the point when you will feel subconsciously safe and comfortable to go to the gym, so you can start exercising for real, and enjoying it. This will feel like an inspired action, rather than an unpleasant activity. You have succeeded to reprogram your beliefs in your subconscious mind.

3) NLP and visualizations are also effective way to reach results. You can do a visualization, every night before going to sleep, visualizing yourself at the gym, exercising, feeling totally safe and enjoying it, until you feel that something has shifted, as if a block has been cleared!

Once that your subconscious mind has been re-hardwired, you will feel and start to act differently. You will feel positive, enthusiastic, inspired, motivated, confident of succeeding, when thinking of a goal that you want to reach! Rather than dreading to take action, the idea of moving forward, will feel like fun!

It brings you a sense of peace and relief, rather than of effort. From that point on, you will feel as if you are moving downstream, with no strain or resistance. You will notice that small synchronicities will start to manifest, around you. You will start to attract little miracles regularly, positive things and people will show up in your life, all conspiring for you and helping you to move forward, toward your dreams! It will feel as if you are on the right path! All the other steps will follow effortlessly.

How to Move to a Mountain and Snowboard Everyday

So, you’ve decided you really like snowboarding. You’ve been riding at your local resort/hill every chance you get and you want to take it to the next level. You may have just finished school or be in between jobs, whatever the case, you have the winter off and you want to snowboard everyday. Here’s how you do it.

Where to go?

One of the major decisions you’re going to have to make right off the bat is, if you don’t already live in the mountains, where you will move to. This article is assuming you are moving to a ski hill as there are several other options for snowboarding everyday but that is a topic for another for another time.

First off you are going to have to decide if you will be travelling to another country. If you are in a place like Australia, which happens to be host to a lot of travelling snowboarders, you will likely be travelling. That’s not to say there are not ski resorts in Australia. Here’s a list of a few popular countries for snowboarding and what they have to offer.

Canada

Arguably, the best snowboarding in the world. Canada’s cold temperatures and typically wet climate make it a winter wonderland. The peaks of western Canada boast some of the deepest powder on earth and you have lots of great resorts to choose from, all which receive annual snowfall over twelve meters!. The mountain communities of Canada are used to travellers from abroad coming to work and play at their homes so you will find it easy to make friends and meet fellow snowboarders. If you are into going where the action is you might choose to live and work at a resort like Whistler, or Big White. However, if you like things a bit more quiet where the powder stays fresh a little longer you may want to try Whitewater, or Kicking Horse. If you want to go riding in Canada make sure you bundle up because it can get chilly at first but once you are used to the cold you start to crave it, it means better snow conditions!

United States

The US has many great resorts similar to Canada as they exist in what could be called the same mountain ranges (some mountain ranges run through both countries). Being a bit further south, the climate is warmer, although, can be comparable at elevation. There are some big mountains in the western United States that receive annual snowfall also in the 12 meter range. Some of the resorts here see a lot of action due to tourists and a large local population. Jackson Hole is a great place to ride with huge annual snowfall and lots of night life. The resort usually sees over half a million skiers per year! Alta ski resort in Wyoming is a high elevation resort that receives big snowfall and is one of the oldest resorts in the US! There are many great resorts to pick from in the United States if that’s where you choose to ride.

There’s lots of other countries you can move to if you want to snowboard all winter but we won’t get into them in this article, just do a quick Google search of an area that interests you.

Okay so you’ve picked the resort you want to live at now lets talk about some of the other choices you are going to have to make.

How much money will you need?

Ski resorts are expensive places to live, they’re resorts so they have to charge a premium on everything in order to extract as much money as possible from all the tourists and families that visit every year. That doesn’t mean that you can’t be a smart snowboard bum and live on a budget that enables you to ride more fresh powder than most people can dream of. The lifestyle that you choose will ultimately determine how much riding you do. Let’s look at some of the essentials.

Lift Pass

This is the whole reason you are going. If you want to ride lots, you’re going to need a season pass, you have a couple of options. You can buy one for between $750 – $2200, depending on the resort you choose and ride until your heart’s content. You’re other option is to work for the resort. Most places will give you a seasons pass and take payment for it from your paycheque gradually over the course of the season. This is sort of like a payment plan for people who can’t put up the cash and are planning on working while there. The only problem with this option is that if it snows 30 cm and you call in sick to go slash pow, they will suspend your pass for the day and you will be stuck at home while your friends have the time of their lives.

Season Pass = $1000 (common smaller resort pass price)

Housing

You will likely be renting a room in a large chalet or mountain house with a bunch of other travelling snowboarders. This is the only way most people can afford to live full time at a resort as renting your own place can cost several thousand per month. Typical rent for a room in one of these shared houses is around $500 US per month. Some places you will be paying another $50 in utilities so let’s call it $550. Assuming you will staying an entire season you will probably be showing up Mid November and staying until Mid April.

5 months x $550 per month = $2750

Food

Another annoying thing essential to human survival. Food on the mountain is overpriced just like everything else. There are usually small grocery stores but they will set you back about double what you would pay for the same product in the city. If you find a ride down to the city that is close to your mountain you can buy food cheaper there but typically you will be paying resort prices for groceries and if you are eating out much you can say good bye to your funds rather quickly. If you live off cases of instant noodles you can save a lot of money but let’s assume you want to eat a balanced diet while you are breaking down your body, snowboarding everyday. Groceries for a single person will typically run you about $75 per week.

20 weeks x $75 per week = $1500

Going out

Although it doesn’t seem like it, this is likely going to be your biggest expense. You’re living at a resort, people are there to party, not to mention, everyone is transient so people are more willing to step outside their comfort zones. You will be living in a house full of new friends and there will always be something going on. You will have to choose your nights out wisely because this one factor can be the deciding one in how much you have to work to get by instead of slashing fresh pow. A typical night out will cost you about $100 if you do some pre drinking at home and don’t get too fired up. Some weeks you might have two of these nights some weeks, one. Let’s average it out and say 1.5 nights out per week.

30 nights out x $100 per night = $3000

These are just essentials, there are always unexpected costs but this will give you a good idea of what it takes to live at a mountain resort and snowboard everyday.

Total for 5 month season = $8250

Now that we know the numbers we should talk about your two most obvious lifestyle choices since they will be the biggest factor effecting your season. Although not available to everyone, the thing to do that will afford you the most fun and freedom is to save up $10000 to cover all of your expenses and have all the free time to do what you want. That means riding when you want, going out whenever you feel like it and most of all never missing a pow day! When you live at a mountain, it’s all about the powder days. Things can get tracked out quick and it really sucks when it snows and you have to go to work. Watching friends and all the other random people have the time of their lives, while you can’t participate, will give you a burning feeling like no other.

That brings us to your other option, the one most people in your shoes take. Get a temporary job at the resort your moving to. This has it’s perks as well such as meeting people, earning money and perhaps getting to learn a new skill. Not all businesses on the resort land will be part of the resort itself. Although, if you go to work for the resort you won’t have to worry about buying a pass as the resort will provide you with one. Typically this will be on a payment plan that they will automatically take off of your paycheck. Just remember, if you are getting a “free” pass through your job, they will be in complete control. Any powder days that you decide to call in sick will see your pass suspended for the day rendering you unable to ride anyways.

Many of you can’t save up that much money and will be forced to take a job if you want to do something like this. In that case, the job you choose will also play a major roll in how much you get to ride. Night jobs are great because you can ride during the day, if you can get up. You could take a cheap course and become a ski/snowboard instructor; then you would get paid to be on the snow. Only, you wouldn’t be doing what you want to do and hitting the spots you want to hit, you would be teaching mostly beginners the basics all day. Just make sure you choose wisely, some of the best jobs are the least sought after.

Many people spend a large portion, or even their entire lives living and working at ski hills. This is just a short guide and peak into this lifestyle, there is much more to write on this topic. If you do this, even for just one season, you won’t regret it. It’s something you’ll remember for the rest of your life. You will meet tons of amazing people and make great friends, party like a rock star and snowboard everyday. If that sounds like one of your dreams then what are you waiting for?

Tips for Office Relocation – Move Like a Pro

Moving an office is not a piece of cake. It is stressful and challenging. This is because it involves both employees and leadership in the process. There are different levels of complexity when it comes to moving your office and most of them are, usually, unknown. When you encounter these complexities, stress, and chaos begins.

If you want to make your office relocation smooth and stress-free, organisation of work is the key. By focusing on organising everything, you can facilitate a successful move. A good office move begins long before the actual moving day. You must keep in mind that it is not just the equipment, documents, files and furniture that you will move. This process will affect your employees and staff. Here are some of the tips that will help you to move your office successfully.

Inform All

After you have decided to relocate, the most important thing is to inform everyone about it. It is crucial that you keep your employees informed to avoid problems and conflicts. You must communicate it to them properly through emails, meetings or other effective modes of communication. Choose a relocation time and day after discussion with employees to keep it smooth. You must also inform your clients and other important parties about your relocation.

Involve Your Employees

Involve employees in the relocation process. This will not give you support and help you need but also gives them enough outlets of expression and interaction about relocation process and the new space.

Build Stronger Communication

Communication is very important if you want to overcome confusion and havoc. By focusing on strong communication, you can prepare your employees for the change and also help them overcome any fears regarding moving to a new place.

Divide Responsibilities

After discussing every aspect of relocation with your employees and explaining them the rationality behind the move, you need to divide responsibilities. Make small groups and assign them to work that they need to complete for relocation. Discuss new roles and responsibilities during the whole relocation process.

Choose a Reliable Office Removalist

Once you have finished planning your office relocation internally, it is time to seek some professional help. Trusted and reliable removalists help in making the whole relocation procedure smooth, fast and stress-free. Professional removalists help in adopting the right approach and carry out the whole process in right way. With latest equipment and resources, they can move your office without causing any damage or loss.

Removalists are very helpful in case of office relocations as it reduces the chance of missing documents and other important things. This is possible due to the efficient planning and using right methods. Hiring a reliable and trustworthy office removalist in Sydney will cost you’re a lot but it will be worth much more than what you actually spend. And it goes without saying that a removalist company takes the burden of stress off your shoulders.

Plan to Move? Ask a Relocation Astrologer

More and more people are contacting me these days for an astrology reading because they want a new lease on life. That new lease might include a better place to live, start a home business, make money, or retire.

Sometimes they’re just fed up with the area where they live, the people they work or associate with, themselves for staying there too long, the quality of life or lack thereof, and they want out of Dodge NOW.

Astrology is one perspective on finding your best city, location, or place here or overseas. It’s not the only one. I want to point that out. Checking your daily horoscope for entertainment is one thing, making a major life change – that’s another story.

This article is from notes taken just recently from a conversation between relocation astrologer Cait Benten – that’s me – and my friend Christine Troward.

Cait, what can people expect from a relocation astrology reading?

When you contact me, I know you want to find your best city or location in which to work, have a successful career, perhaps start a home based business, raise your family in safety, or retire and so one of the first questions I’m usually asked is, “What is relocation astrology? What is it you do?”

What information do you need to do a relocation astrology reading?

Relocation astrology begins with your birth chart – what we astrologers call your natal chart. Where were you born? What was the EXACT time of your birth. Check your birth certificate. I spend long hours moving your birth chart to find what appears to be your best places in the world to live. It’s a long, exacting, and tedious process, and it takes many hours to find the best places that are a match to your natal chart.

What about those inexpensive computer programs? What are their limitations?

A computer program isn’t going to find what I’m looking for when I work on your astrology chart. There are too many variables and computer programs aren’t intuitive. This is why I interview you and ask what you’re looking for in your life, all this happens before I begin your astrology reading which I record and send to you. You listen, then we follow that up with a session where you ask me all your questions.

As I understand it, your astrology readings don’t tell people they have to move to a certain place to be successful.

I’ll tell you up front that even your most favorable location will present its own unique set of challenges. Oh that life were perfect! Before you visit or move to a certain place, I’ll encourage you to count the costs.

Relocation astrology is not about packing up and moving merely because I tell you “This appears to be your most favorable location.” I’ll encourage you to COUNT THE COSTS before you move. Are you ready for what will be a major life change? Each move I’ve ever made has required a settling in and adjustment period and I’m sure this will also be true for you.

Moving requires a lot of planning and thought before packing your things and going somewhere, doesn’t it? Moving becomes even more complicated if you’re moving overseas, although more and more Americans are retiring overseas.

You’ve moved now! Getting settled into your new area is only the first phase of many new things to deal with including a decision that may include purchasing a home, registering your vehicles, finding where schools are located, and it’s so much easier if, when you move, you already have a job lined up, unless you’re retired. If retired, how much are you going to miss seeing your children or grandchildren? Some handle this issue better than others.

Do you use Astrocartography or Vedic Relocation astrology in your work? I notice lots of people like to have their Astrocartography chart done.

I know both systems but over the years I’ve incorporated the best techniques I’ve come across. I rely on my intuition and higher wisdom though when looking at a difficult chart. That’s the only way to break through what seems like insurmountable obstacle in a person’s astrology reading.

Do you ever get the sense people want you to make the decision about what they do for them?

I won’t do that and neither will any other reputable relocation astrologer. Check my disclaimer page at http:www.astro-earth-relocation.com and you’ll see where I’m honest in telling you that “WHEREVER we move our EMOTIONAL SELVES travel with us.” Some people, more than others, will need medical, financial, and emotional counseling and I urge you to use these professional resources if your life situation requires such assistance.

The other day a woman said to me, “I want you to send us to a place where my husband doesn’t do drugs any more.” I pleasantly but firmly had to tell her “Your husband makes his own choices in life. I refuse to be responsible for whether your marriage does or does not work.”

As a relocation astrologer I’ll tell you that our lives, no matter where we live, become what we determine to make of them. The wonderfulness of an area is dependent on you and how you treat others as much as how they treat you. Wherever you go, there you are.

A new location, however, may provide you with a new lease on life. Maybe it is time, after all these years, to get out of Dodge City and find a place you appreciate and where you are appreciated.

Do you find that some people are set in their ways and resist any suggestions, which is what they are, suggestions only, that you see as a good location to in their chart.

When you call me for a relocation astrology session I’ll use everything I know to help you find your best place or city. I’ve had a handful of clients who, after I searched and searched for days finding a match for them based on the movement of their natal or birth chart would say, “I don’t like that place.” “My children won’t like it.” My husband says the people in Tucson aren’t friendly.” I’ve heard people make judgments about places they’ve never been to, a case of being too opinionated about areas they know nothing about.

It’s odd to hear a relocation astrologer admit this but there have been a handful of people I’ve done astrology charts for and there is NO one best place for them to live and I’ve told them that. Maybe there’s a second or third best place where they would have a very good life, so just know I’ll be honest with you about my findings.

If I tell you Santa Barbara looks favorable based on your natal or birth chart and you say, “Not Santa Barbara,” or “Oh no, not Austin, Texas,” then, after I’ve pointed out all your best geographical areas I’ll say “Use your intuition then. There are no other places I know to send you.”

Why do you think relocation astrology is a valuable tool, even though you’ve told me on other occasions that it is only one of many tools that might be helpful to a person looking for that next place to call home?

Even though I’m a little more expensive than some other astrologers, I’ve been unbelievably busy since starting Astro-Earth-Relocation five years ago, so I don’t solicit or advertise for clients any more.

Reputation is everything?

It helps, but you only build a reputation by doing great work for your clients. Most of my business is now word-of-mouth recommendations from former clients.

Do you tell people they must move to find success or love, make money, or be happy?

No. Nor do I tell them they have to make this move by such and such date. I do tell my clients to ask themselves, “What would happen if you were happy now and didn’t move at all? Would that disappoint you?” Some people are restless for change. That’s not a good reason move. Happiness is an inside job; you have to provide your own inner cabin pressure no matter where you live.

I’ll close my article about relocation astrology, which I do hope you’re curious enough to try, just to experience this kind of unique astrology reading, with a quote from my friend James Clayton Napier uses to open his marvelous article Business & Career: Know Your Ruling Star which you can read on the web:

“Know your Ruling Star. One man [or woman] is better received by one nation than another, or is one welcome by one city than another. He finds more luck in one office or position than in another, and all though his qualifications are equal or even identical. Let each man know his luck as well as his talents. Follow your guiding star and help it without mistaking any other for it. Know how to transplant yourself. There are nations with whom one must cross their borders to make one’s value felt.”

How to Move From Obscurity to Limelight

One of the most remarkable stories in the Holy Bible can be found in the book of Esther Chapter 2:1-16, where we witnessed the transformation of an orphan into a queen. It all began with the ouster of queen Vashti from the palace in Shushan by King Ahasuerus. This story carries so much positive lessons and encouragements for those who desire to succeed in life.

Every step you take will make or mar your destiny

The path to greatness cannot be seen with the physical eyes, but as we rely on the unfailing guidance of the Holy Spirit, our ways become distinct and sure. That was exactly what happened to Esther when her uncle brought her from her home town to Shushan. It was a divine step that brought her close to her destiny.

If she had not left her home town at that material point in time, her place would have been taken over by someone else. At each stage in our journey towards of desired goal in life, the need to absolutely trust in God for direction cannot be compromised. I have seen individuals spending thousands of dollars to travel to foreign countries in search of greener pasture and all they got was repatriation.

Only God knows your beginning and ending

I have seen paupers becoming kings and Kings becoming paupers. God is the one who can lift up and at the same time, lift up. He does this so that mankind will know that he has sovereign power over all creation. Who would have believed that an orphan will become the favorite of a King? It was just impossible to believe, but with God nothing is impossible. He knows our ending from our beginning.

God is always ahead of your enemies

I am always amazed whenever I see people spending hours casting out perceived demons and enemies from their life. Why worry over something which has already been taken care of? The Almighty God has gone ahead of our enemies and will frustrate all their plans concerning our life!

Mordecai saw Esther as a threat to his evil plan and ambition and hatched an evil plan to eliminate the people of Israel. He never knew that his plan was already exposed by God. The instrument of destruction he built for Haman and his people was eventually used to terminate his life.

When God favors you, men will equally favor you

The favor of God is a vital instrument to our accelerated progress in life. Favor will transform a man from nobody to somebody within a split second. Esther obtained favor from God and when it was time for the beautiful maiden to appear before King Ahasuerus, she never bothered about making up her face with artificial beauty items. All she took along to the palace was the favor of God which made Ahasuerus to favor her above her contemporaries.

Demetra Reid is on the Move!

Great leaders look within themselves, before they look beyond themselves. In her quest to make an impact on others, Demetra Reid has become a great leader. A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Reid is a Registered Nurse and earned a Master’s of Science degree in Health Care Administration. She has operated in this capacity for more than 11 years while serving as the CEO and founding member of the international organization, w.o.m.e.n. EO, Inc. for the last two. She is also a four-time author and penned the dynamic children’s book, “Alice’s ABC’s.” The book is so insightful and charming, it was recently recognized as “Parent’s Choice” and earned distribution in several U.S. university bookstores.

A forward-thinker by every definition of the word, Reid charismatically operates as an agent for change for her family, organization, and individuals on issues which concern them. Demetra’s devastating and spirit-testing experiences earlier in life groomed her for leading and inspiring her organization and readers today. Creatively, she helps them navigate through transitional experiences and identify strategies to connect them to their successes. But, it’s her ability to articulate a vision in such a way that ignites enough passion, that others pursue and manifest that vision. It simply leaves people in awe. I had the opportunity to sit down with Demetra Reid. We discussed her values, her organization, her love for empowering others, and of course, her children’s book, “Alice’s ABC’s.”

Fran Briggs: Good morning, Demetra. Thank you for making the time to meet with me today.

Demetra Reid: Thank you for having me. It’s always a pleasure.

F. B. Tell us about the genesis of your women’s organization, and why you think it has been received so well.

D. R. Within the word, w.o.m.e.n ., EO, Inc is an acronym. It stands for We Own Mentor Empower Nurture, EACH OTHER. It has been embraced by so many because – well, look at the name of the group – we do just that! We take people as they are and do not try to change or judge them because there is at least one of us who has been through the same thing. We listen. We relate to. We understand. Sometimes that’s all someone needs – a willingness to listen and understand.

F. B. You have a decentralized group with members from three continents – all of whom are very cause-driven, hard-working, and creative. With so many worthy global initiatives today, how do you determine which ones to support?

D. R. Great question, Fran. Yes, we are invited to partner with several causes, groups, and joint business ventures. The focus is to prioritize, rationalize, and maintain our perspective on the vision of w.o.m.e.n., EO. Actually, we have a multitude of priorities including assisting women who have been affected by domestic violence, rape, and incest. Another priority is to reach out to children. There’s nothing that lies closer to a woman’s heart then her children, right? Well, our organization is concerned with the very things that touch a woman’s heart. Self esteem also remains a priority. What do we do to build and maintain self-esteem among women?

Many times, just supplying one tool can alleviate a multitude of other issues. When women feel good about themselves, they recognize what real love is, as opposed to co-dependent emotions. Real love does not hit, harm, or abuse. Correct? I realize I’m asking someone who knows the answers but sadly, so many women today, do not. I want so badly for women to begin learning about self-love at an early age so that they can develop healthy love habits. We provide counseling, consulting, and mentoring – in a cost effective manner. Some of the growth questions we are asking as it pertains to the organization include:

Can we reach masses – span the globe by providing teleconferences?

Can we reach masses – span the globe and impact children and women who may be homeless by investing in care packages to send out?

Can we reach the masses by holding conferences?

My answer is, “yes” – unequivocally – to all of these. It’s a viable investment with a huge return. I am looking forward to bringing in experts from the fields of personal and business development, rape crisis, behavior health, planned pregnancy, teen run-aways, and many other disciplines for our conferences. Our state ambassadors sent us the top three issues for women in their respective states. It is from their own perspective, or formal research. Domestic violence, homelessness, job assistance, and business development mentoring were identified as priorities. Other concerns included the need for additional shelters for battered women, run-away youth, and pregnant teens. There are so many needs, all of which span the globe.

F. B. You’ve been directing w.o.m.e.n. EO, Inc., for a couple years, now. Did it take time to get a feel for the culture of your group?

D. R. Absolutely! We have diligently worked and re-worked the roles and responsibilities of the board, ambassadors and members. It has been a journey because this is truly, a not for profit organization. Everything that we do – teleconferences, planning, meetings, and newsletters – is all on volunteered time. The women who are in our group are extremely dedicated to the cause. They have such a passion about the mission of the group – which, again, is wrapped up in our name: We Own Mentor Empower Nurture, EACH OTHER. They take ownership, mentoring, and empowering personally. We have wonderful women in place for getting to our destination. Although there are many women who are out there and truly want to help, some have come and gone because the ‘price’ of helping is expensive! Lots of time, lots of commitment, and lots of energy with little recognition is involved, here.

One has to evaluate their motive. It takes a village to reach who we are trying to reach. We all have ideas, and it takes all of us to execute those ideas. I love everyone who has crossed our path. Some have left, and then come back. That’s because they have a burning desire to help others that just will not leave. I thank everyone who has met with us; we would not be here today if not for them. I am even grateful for the individuals and organizations who turned us down as far as partnering with us. At least they now know about us and what we are trying to accomplish. The seed has been planted. (laughing) I’m rambling; aren’t I?

F. B. (Smiling) No. Not at all… Demetra, few people realize that you personally mentor or consult with more than 100 individuals over a year. When do you make time for you?

D. R. (Laughing) This is my time. With my history of suffering from emotional abuse, physical abuse, depression and a several suicide attempts – I have to reach out.. It’s almost like breathing – if I don’t, who will? That’s how I feel sometimes. For example, when my phone rings, I may say, ‘I’m tired, right now.’ But then I’m quick to think about how it was with me. If I would have had someone to talk to, maybe I would not have stayed in such an abusive relationship for so long. I also recognize that I am grateful for the one who did reach out to me and taught me that my life was worth living. See, I had that special someone on the other end of a phone one day who made me contract with her to call her if I ever thought of taking my life again. She made me feel like my life mattered. I realize some may think this sounds funny – or even hypocritical coming from a Christian – but I’m human. I was in a bad place, but I do believe the Lord uses people and puts people in place to move us from one place to another. I’d like to think of myself as that medium – that vessel that help others make it from day to day.

F. B. Many women – those who are single, have children, and little income in particular – are vulnerable to a form of discrimination that marginalizes them from the rest of society. What are some of the ways which you show this group that there are better opportunities, and a better life for them?

D. R. I refer them to business-oriented women like yourself. (Smiling) I smile – but I’m serious. These women just need direction, education on the ‘how tos’ and the right steps that will lead them to their goal. What better way than to let them speak to women who have succeeded in what they see as being, ‘just a dream’? We have women in our group who are entrepreneurs, publishers, authors, life coaches, college students, police officers, publicists, IT specialists and from many other professions. Many are single, divorced, but successful women! My job is easy; I just direct and put people together. And, it works.

F. B. How would you like your tenure as president of w.o.m.e.n. EO, Inc. to be remembered?

D. R. A job well done. I would like for people to see that in all things, I tried. That is my life’s mission. Serving as president of w.o.m.e.n,EO, Inc. is certainly being true to myself; I want to make a difference.

F. B. Demetra, you are living an amazing life which includes dozens of accounts where you have defied and conquered incredible odds. At what point did you decide to choose writing as one means to illustrate this?

D. R. Great question, Fran. I have often started and stopped journals in the past. I try so hard to maintain one as it helps tremendously with getting things out of my head – especially the things I worry about. It almost seems that once I have these items on paper, I worry less and sleep better. That is how I use my writing, as a tool and means for expression.

F. B. When are you most happy?

D. R. When I am spending time with my daughter who is growing up! She will be 17 this month. I enjoy seeing her become such a wonderful young lady. I enjoy hearing about her hopes, dreams, and deepest fears. It does a Mother’s heart good to know what her children are afraid of so that we can help them face those fears at a young age. I also try to build up her self-esteem. Sometimes young ladies that grow up without a Father figure will look for male affirmation in other places. I have prayed and prayed about that. I prayed that she would be well-rounded with having a Mother stand in the role of Mother and Father. That is what makes me happy – being with Kala.

F. B. Demetra, you’re also an author having penned a children’s book which is being promoted in American universities, as well as three adult inspirational books this year. How has the reception been from the readers?

D. R. It has been overwhelming! I really enjoyed being a contributing author in Volume I and Volume II of How to Jump from a Ferris Wheel and Land on Your feet, and writing my first poetry book, No Reason Or Rhyme … Just Thoughts Over Time.

Each of these drew from the mentoring and empowerment sides of me. I hoped to reach women who have been – or are currently – in the same situations – depicted in the book. I want to let them know that whatever the situation, ‘its okay.’ ‘Its okay’ because when you do feel low – then, what better time to begin feeling better? I also contributed in an e-book titled, Guide to Life Coaching. This book was compiled by Lydia Proschinger and includes contributions from life coaches who share their processes, methods and successes. I was honored to be a part of this project and hope that many will come to recognize the strength and positive enhancement that comes with having a life coach.

F. B. Can we expect to read more books by Demetra Reid in the future?

D. R. Oh, Yes ma’am! The sequel to Alice’s ABCs, which is titled, Alice’s 123’s, is scheduled to be released in next year. The latter is about what happens when Alice goes on an adventure. I’m so sure there are many more to come.

F. B. Many authors have at least one favorite author. Do you have one? If so, who is it, and why?

D. R. I love Patricia Cornwell, James Patterson, and Mary Higgins Clark. I guess the common thread is the mystery side. I like a book that can take you away and these books do that; they make you leave your own life and enter someone else’s.

F. B. Was there ever a time when you second-guessed your faith or ability to write a book that people would pick up and actually read? If so, how did you overcome it?

D. R. I second-guess that every time I pick up a pen to write and every time I think of how words should flow. I contemplate on the best way for them to be written. I imagine it’s how I think when I speak to people as well – I play and replay my words, sentences, and paragraphs before I speak. I want to make sure my point is clear. You know, words are alive; they are sent out with a purpose whether it be for good or for bad. The Alice series has the objective to teach. The poetry book that I wrote was meant for good and has a goal to make the reader smile. I would love to see both of these make their mark. The only way to ensure that, is to receive feedback so, any and all feedback is welcome. I can not wait to get the other books out!

F. B. I read Alice’s ABCs, and I love it. With so many wonderful children’s books out there today, what makes yours’ definitively distinctive?

D. R. (Smiling) Because it’s Alice! Alice is not unlike most children today; she’s rambunctious, mischievous, smart, sassy. And, she is looking forward to teaching your children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews their ABC’s, 123’s. The artwork illustrated by Dena Deffenbaugh is outstanding. Alice does not have a distinctive face and is absent of features – that was intentional. She can be anybody’s child. When a child begins to read the book, they easily fit into Alice’s shoes. I’m also looking at making an Alice doll so the reader has something to actually hold on to after the book is closed.

F. B. That’s exciting and epitomizes your enthusiasm for your projects. What’s next for Demetra Reid?

D. R. Oh, I want to expound on my writing and grow the women’s group – in Jesus name! And one day, hear from groups and groups of women who are walking and talking in faith, hope, and real love. I guess you might be referring to the baby steps that it will take to get to this point, huh?

F. B. Sure, ‘baby steps’ works, here. What are they?

D. R. Well, the first ‘baby step’ will be to start off with a meeting of the state and continental ambassadors. In doing so, we will look for sponsors and partners to assist in our cause. Additionally, w.o.m.e.n., EO is looking forward to hosting a national conference – it’s a goal for each and every year – bringing the states and continents together in one space to touch each other spiritually, mentally and physically. It’s important that we know that even with our individuality and in our uniqueness, we are all the same. And, I am happy to announce that we have sponsored two orphaned young girls from Rwanda. Our aim is to grow this ministry so that we can continue to assist them with their education and their self-esteem.

F. B. Demetra, it was both an honor and pleasure to interview you. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to accommodate me.

D. R. Again, it has been my pleasure. You have been a joy to speak with, someone of your stature – someone whom I consider a mentor. Continue to be blessed, Fran.
