Importance of Interior Design in Designing Dream Home

Everyone has a dream house to live in-spacious, well-lit and comfortable across seasons. Though there is a dream, most owners do not care about the interior design of the house. However, the design is vital for those who want to make their homes lively and decorated. The designers have a crucial job as it requires technical know-how, professional skills and most importantly, creativity on building, space, architecture and the client’s current or intended lifestyle.

Why is Interior Design in high demand?

The designed homes stand out from the rest because of their aesthetic value and because it will feel like having more space with proper designing. A residence can have the room of a studio apartment if its interior is designed correctly and comfortably lit. Poor design makes a larger house look like it is out of space. Interior designers are highly demanded to create spaces, improve their efficiency and functional usage, and improve the lighting effect, colour effect, textures, patterns, size and more. Additionally, designers are experts in selecting and fitting equipment.

Good designers understand the needs of their clients and try to bring their dream home to life. They can design the house according to the traditions or specific demands of the clients. Moreover, a house with good interior design will fetch higher bids when sold, and not everyone has the skill to design a home.

Importance of Furniture in Interior Design

Furniture for designers is the same as books for librarians. Interior designers use new or existing, built-in, ready-made or custom-made furniture in their projects. In the terms used by interior designing, the ‘function’ or what an object will be used for determines where the furniture will be placed. Each piece is made with the user in mind. The function determines the furniture and furnishings necessary for a particular space.

Furniture is an essential component in ‘space planning’ and circulation. Circulation refers to the movement of people through objects, and furniture is placed to ensure adequate space for movement.

Furniture is used to provide a good sense of order, and interior designers use two or three-dimensional furniture while also looking for the perfect shape, size, texture, and colour. The principles of design are incorporated while arranging furniture. For example, furniture can be set by its size and space, repeated furniture is organised according to rhythm, unity by blending furniture with a particular setting like a fireplace, and emphasis or keeping furniture as the focal point.

Why is Well-Designed Furniture Necessary?

Well-designed furniture settings make the house more functional, reflect the owner’s house style, and make home spaces more spacious and luxurious. Furniture responds to the needs for comfort and utility. Furniture creates a new, adjusted perspective of the entire space, offering mediums to view other objects in lines of mass and weight of the items. Moreover, furniture in well-designed houses classifies spaces around the house according to their utility.

The Off-Color Dictionary of Turkish Slang — Frikik (Free Kick)

Our Off-Color Dictionary got started when our Turkish nephew, Yanki, suggested (back in 1996) that we prepare a page of the most commonly heard Turkish language swear words. If we left them out, he advised, our coverage of ‘Practical Turkish’ would be incomplete. How could Turkish language learners cope, he pressed, without a basic knowledge of everyday Turkish swear words and slang?

And so he persuaded us that you can never get a comprehensive feel for a language unless you are familiar with its off-color slang. (This is especially true of a language like Turkish, in which off-color words may be intermingled with ‘polite’ everyday speech, without the blinking of an eye. The word boktan springs firstly to mind, for example.)

And here’s one of our favorite off-color Turkish colloquialisms…

  • frikik (free-kick) — when, for example, a woman exits a car in a skirt and accidentally (?) opens her legs to expose her undies, the man who observes the event is said to have been awarded a ‘frikik’. The term originates from the soccer term, Free Kick — and is equally applicable if the man catches a glimpse of exposed breast when a woman accidentally (?) bends over too far in front of him.

As an off-shoot of frikik, there is also:

  • frikige yatmak — [for a man] to wait in a convenient place to get a frikik; lit. to lay down for a free kick

    and

  • frikik vermek — [for a woman] to award a frikik, on purpose;

lit. to give a free kick
  • Illustrative Examples:

Hülya Avsar is a favorite Turkish female star of stage, screen, and TV. Besides being personable, talented, and pretty, she’s… ummm…sexy — which just multiplies her legion of fans. And Hülya’s frikik ‘antics’ inspire her sister celebrities — who emulate her, on purpose.

So when actress-model Hande Ataizi began slipping from the celebrity headlines she decided to take action — in the fastest way she knew how… The other night while she was out bar-hopping with her latest flame, she wore a silk micro-mini dress — and upon departing the bar-scene to return home, she gave photographers what they described as “The Frikik (Free-kick) of the Year!“

Tiffany lighting provide a dual feng shui affect. Tiffany lighting provides vibrant illumination as well as colorful, decorative style. Create ambiance and a relaxed atmosphere in your home by combining feng shui principles with Tiffany lighting.

Feng shui suggests a multiplicity of light sources as the way to induce better feelings. Multiple light sources in a room allow the eye to see depth and contour more easily, which means optimum visibility. Tiffany lighting is just one of many lighting options that you may use for your feng shui influenced lighting needs.

    Types of Feng Shui Elements:

There are five elements in feng shui design. They are fire, wood, earth, water, and metal. Each element represents aspects of the human personality.

    ‘Wood’ represents health and vitality.

Use green and brown colors to create an inspiring atmosphere. Place up-lighting, like a Tiffany Hanginghead Dragonfly Torchiere, to “uplift” an area that is dark or a room with a low ceiling. Well-lit areas encourage the flow of positive energy.

Decrease the chance of clutter accumulating in shadowy areas by making the living areas of your home well lit, especially the corners.Strategic use of Tiffany lighting can make a room look bigger simply because it is well-lit.

     ‘Earth’ represents nourishment and stability.

Use yellow and neutral tones in table or floor lamps to generate a relaxing, intimate mood in the room. For example, a Tiffany Martini Mission Table Lamp provides mellow Tiffany lighting.

    ‘Metal’ represents clarity and precision.

Metal is expressed in white and grey colors. It is excellent for feng shui use anywhere in your home, especially to contrast brighter colors. Use tiffany lighting to spotlight features in your room, such as flower arrangements, paintings and plants.

White color may be used as an all-white scheme in certain feng shui area or it may be used more as an accent. A Tiffany Lily White Accent Lamp is a popular favrile design.

    ‘Water’ represents ease and abundance

In addition to blue, black is used to express this element.  Using Meyda Tiffany lighting in this area is an ideal choice, since glass is symbolic of water.

By using a variety of lighting solutions, like Tiffany lighting, you can create a balanced, harmonious atmosphere in your home.

Does Lighting Matter When a Marketing Consultant is Transacting Business?

Research has shown that there are things a marketing consultant can do on a first time, face-to-face meeting that will make a great first impression and build rapport when transacting business. Knowing do’s and don’ts may save a sale from getting away. Lighting is a very important factor.

    Here’s why…

There are some things that work well and there are some strategies that are lucky, intuitive, or whatever.

The first thing that I would recommend: Whenever you meet people, especially at a restaurant, always arrive early and sit at the back of the restaurant, facing every other human being in the restaurant.

The person who’s coming to meet you will be obligated to sit directly across from you, and the only thing that they can see is you.

They might be able to hear stuff happening in the background but they couldn’t actually see anything; so you have 100% of the attention and essentially a perception that you’re totally in control of the environment.

The second thing is that, if you have a choice of where to take people, there are some things that we factually know are more likely to sell.

If you take people to a restaurant that has dimly lit lights, the probability of getting yes at the end of your proposal, presentation, whatever it is, is significantly greater than if you take a person to a restaurant that is well lit.

    Why is that?

Because when lighting is down, the pupils expand in size. So when you look at your prospect, you see pupils that are large and unconsciously, nobody necessarily tells us this in school, we just know this from looking at babies that babies always have these big eyes, they’re happy.

We literally have all these powerful, wonderful associations to huge eyes.

When you look at a person in dim lights, their eyes are really quite large. And there is a feeling that people get inside, a sense that they’re comfortable, that things are good, that this is okay, I like this person, they like me.

Talk about tactics, that’s one of my all time favorite tactics, is that combination of dim lights and seating position in a restaurant. That’s worth 50 dollars if people would just do that.

When choosing a spot to meet, invite your client to a softly lit ambiance is your best bet for a new beginning. End of story.

Christmas Wreaths – History, Tradition and Uses

Evergreen wreaths at Christmas time are a familiar sight on doors, above fireplaces, and on homes. Wreaths have been in use for many hundreds of years, even before the birth of Christ. Many historians believe that the first wreaths date back to the Persian Empire, when royalty and members of the upper class wore diadems, or fabric headbands adorned with jewels. Other cultures would later become fascinated with this tradition, picking it up and adapting it for themselves.

About 800 years before the birth of Christ, Greeks began to recognize the winners of their Olympic games by crowning them with wreaths made of laurel tree branches. Years later, when the games moved from city to city, branches from local trees were used to make these victory wreaths for the winners. During the Roman Empire, military and political leaders wore crowns of leaves and greenery. For example, Julius Caesar was crowned with a wreath made of fresh laurel branches and leaves. The transition of the wreath from a head adornment to a wall decoration is believed to have occurred when athletes (or perhaps victorious military leaders) returned home, and they would hang their headbands on their walls or doors, as a trophy of their victory.

The Egyptian, Chinese, and Hebrew cultures were known to have used evergreen branches as a symbol of eternal life, because the conifer trees stayed green throughout the winter months. After the birth of Christ, the Christmas wreath made of evergreen branches came to symbolize the triumph of life over the long winter months.

The Advent wreath also became a popular holiday tradition after the birth of Christ. This decoration was usually placed flat on a table and was used to count down the four weeks immediately preceding Christmas. Traditionally the wreath was constructed with four candles in a circle and one candle in the middle. The four outside candles were purple or violet, and the center candle was white. Four weeks before Christmas, the first violet candle would be lit. The following week, an additional candle would be lit, and so on, until the white center candle is lit on Christmas Eve or day, signifying the arrival of Christ. A brief prayer was said to accompany the lighting of each candle. The reason for the final candle being located in the center is to symbolize that we should keep Christ at the center of our lives and the center of the Christmas celebration.

Based on drawings and paintings, most historians believe that the use of evergreen wreaths at Christmas time spread across Northern Europe, Spain, and Italy during the early 19th century. The greenery was used as a symbol of life persevering through the cold winter months, and the holly berries that were often used as an adornment were a symbol of the blood of Christ.

It is also believed that Europeans also used wreaths on their doors to represent their family identity, much like a family crest. These wreaths were made from products grown in their own gardens, such as grapevines, fresh flowers, or other produce. The crafting of these wreaths was a family ritual that followed the same general pattern year after year.

Today, wreaths are still widely used around the world. In the U.S., wreaths are a traditional decoration for Christmas, as well as many other holidays throughout the year. Wreaths now adorn doors for Halloween, Valentine’s Day, the Fourth of July, and Easter. Furthermore, wreaths are no longer limited to only evergreen branches. Many craft stores, books, and television shows feature unique wreaths made of a variety of unusual materials and decorations for almost any occasion.

The History of the Unity Candle

The candle manufacturers, like any good company, are never ones to turn down a new trend. The advent of Unity Candles into Protestant weddings some 30 or 40 years ago was just such a trend and today has become a booming business for the makers of all things waxy and flammable.

The act itself is packed with symbolism, the creation of a tradition that involves the entirety of both the bride and groom’s in-laws in the act of joining in matrimony. The mothers of both the Bride and Groom will light a candle, and depending on just how symbolic said families are, the grandparents might light those candles for the mothers. The Bride and Groom will then take their freshly lit candles and light the unity candle, a single flame between them to symbolize their union. It usually takes place after the vows are completed.

The origins of the unity candle are still fuzzy, as no one will own up to the initial introduction of the tradition. Born in America within the last 50 years or so, some believe it to have sprouted from the Catholic Church, although the rite itself is not permitted in Catholic weddings now as it’s not part of the wedding Mass.

Like Valentine’s Day and any other candy coated holiday that Hallmark invented, some even believe it to be the result of a marketing guru within the Candle making companies themselves thinking of new ways to spread their product. The truth may never be known, but the history is entertaining nonetheless.

Some will even point to a particular wedding on General Hospital in 1981 in which the symbolic lighting was performed, but there are records of the Unity Candle being lit earlier than that in Protestant ceremonies. The appearance of the candle on a show like General Hospital no doubt didn’t work towards curbing the newly created tradition though.

As for the importance of the ceremony, it’s a symbolic show of unity under God, but also under the eyes of two families coming together. The use of a unity candle is just one more way to show visually how two people feel about each other on the most important day of their relationship. The candle itself means nothing, it’s the act with which it is lit, and that’s more than a good reason why the origin itself isn’t necessarily as important as the thought behind the act.

Numerous Benefits of Using Kitchen Cabinet LED Lighting

Homes are not just about the living rooms and bedrooms, the heart of the home is the kitchen. Instrumental in the preparation of sumptuous fares, kitchens need to be vibrant, safe and bright. Subdued and muted lighting looks good elsewhere but is definitely not the best choice for a kitchen that is intended to be used.

    Modern choice of lighting.

LED, (acronym for Light Emitting Diode) has become one of the preferred lighting mediums globally. Stylish and compact, LED combines the best of appealing designs and the right amount of all round brightness. Kitchen Cabinet LED lights are available in various designs comprising LED Strip & LED Tape Light, LED Panels, LED Triangles & Wedges, LED Plinth Lights, sleek LED Light Bars, LED Puck Lights and LED Swivel Bars and many more. Highest quality in lighting.

LED Cabinet Lights offer the highest quality when compared to traditional fittings with halogen or fluorescent bulbs. LED Cabinet Lights emit undeviating light to the surface below. One of the greatest advantages of LED Lights is the fact that LED Lights do not throw heavy shadows. The bright light helps to see clearly when chopping or reading recipes that may have been scribbled on a scrap of paper or available in a worn-out book. LED Lights do not produce heat with light (which is why they save you so much money). Kitchens are mini hotplates and adding to the heat would only make it worse.

High durability with increased life span.

LED Bulbs have legendary longevity and last much longer than Traditional Bulbs. Some LED Bulbs are expected to offer a lifespan of around 50,000 working hours, which is astounding, paling the performance of Incandescent Bulbs that can’t compete by way of comparison. The high durability of LED Bulbs offers economy, and saves you precious time on maintenance.

    Contemporary and snazzy styles.

Kitchens are ideally dream kitchens, and a lot of effort goes into styling kitchens and outfitting them. It is important to choose the right lighting to not only spruce up the kitchen but also to improve the ambience. A well-positioned light can improve not just brightness in the kitchen, but also elevate the appeal and overall looks of the kitchen. Chests that swell in pride as visitors see a stunning décor in kitchen, is not vanity; it’s justified praise for efforts at designing. LED is an extremely efficient lighting solution, consuming much less power, requiring much less maintenance and being available in elegant and snazzy designs to improve appearance.

It is common that the installation CD is misplaced and is not available at the time of need. So, what can be done? It’s simple. You can manually setup your wireless device without any trouble. See the instructions below:

    Manual Setup Guide:

    • Power off your computer as well as the internet modem and disconnect their power cords from the electricity outlet.
    • Find the Ethernet cable that connects your computer to the modem and unplug its end from the computer.
    • Plug the taken out end into the Ethernet port at the back of your router.
    • Plug one end of the Ethernet wire (which came with the router) into the ‘LAN 1’ port at the back of your router. Now plug the second end into the Ethernet port at the back of your computer. It is the same port from which you initially ran an Ethernet cable to the internet modem.
    • Connect the power cord back to the modem and power it on. Wait for 2 or 3 minutes for the modem to turn on fully.
    • Connect the router’s power cord to the outlet and power it on. Again, wait for 2-3 minutes for it to turn on fully and detect the modem.

    Channel Letter Signs

Channel letter signs, which are also referred to as halo lit letter signs or back lit letter signs, are signs that are typically illuminated with Neon.

Channel letter signs are often used by business owners to display information to their customers. One type of channel letter sign is the raceway mounted channel letter sign. The letters on these signs are attached to a box called a raceway, which is a long rectangular box. This box helps with mounting the letters and also serves as a housing for all of the wiring, electrical components, and transformers needed to make the light function.

Channel letters within a raceway are generally easier to install in a sign than those letters that are individually mounted. In addition, channel letters are easier to wire inside of wall because it only requires pushing a few wires through rather than several.

Channel letters can also be mounted directly onto the wall. Most people prefer the way individually mounted letters look better than those that are on the raceway. When mounting these letters individually, the person hanging the letters must lay out a mounting pattern directly on the wall where it is to be added. Then, holes are drilled for the letters and for the electrical components. Since this process takes a bit longer, it is usually more expensive than those installed with a raceway.

Another type of channel letter sign is the open face channel letter sign. These signs are built in a manner similar to standard channel letters, though they can be mounted either on a raceway or individually. Open channel letters are not actually “open.” Rather, these letters have a clear face rather than a colored plastic face.

By having a clear face, this type of channel letter sign allows the neon tubing to show through. This makes the sign even more noticeable and nighttime. Channel letters with a colored face tend to overshadow the brightness of the neon light.

Channel letters can also be reverse. Reverse channel letters have metal faces as well as returns on the sides of the letters. These channel letters also have a clear plastic backing and are designed for mounting just an inch or so away from a wall. As a result, these channel letters tend to have a halo-lit look at night.

Regardless of the method used, channel letter signs are an effective means of advertising and catching a potential customer’s eye.
