Everybody Knows What a Gear Tooth Hall Effect Speed Sensor is – So Why Don’t You?

So what on earth is a gear tooth hall effect speed sensor anyway and do you really need to know? The fact is that if you drive a car with anti-lock brakes then you make use of them each and every time you drive your car. This is because they are the very latest technology in electronic speed sensors that are in use in automobiles today.

Magnetic Speed Sensors

Gear tooth hall effect speed sensors is a big mouthful of words to say, so these types of speed sensors are commonly referred to as magnetic speed sensors. They do in fact rely on the use of magnets in their function but it is the effect that the magnets have on electricity in sensor that powers their function.

Anti-Lock Braking Systems

Without electronic anti-lock braking sensors anti-lock braking systems would not be possible. It is the speed and frequency of the actual processes that transpires when anti lock braking systems are activated that requires the use of a high tech electronic sensor of this type.

The Focus on the Teeth in a Gear

Gear tooth hall effect sensors focus on and gage the number of gear teeth that pass by them to function. They use magnets to accomplish this and the information is passed on to a small central computer in the braking system that regulates the brakes in an anti lock braking system.

A Mouthful of Words

This process takes place up to twelve times every second and without this level of speed and accuracy anti-lock braking systems simply couldn’t function correctly. So, the next time that you hear magnetic sensors being mentioned, you will now know that what the person is really talking about is gear tooth hall effect speed sensors.

A Chic City Hall Wedding

There is a growing trend in metropolitan areas towards having small weddings in City Hall. These are not necessarily quickie weddings done on a lunch break, as the old stereotypes implied, however. A City Hall wedding can in fact be very chic, elegant, and modern.

One of the first questions to ask yourself if you are considering being married at City Hall is how many people you hope to have witness your vows. If the answer is more than a few, then you would do well to look into other venues. However, if it is your heart’s desire to have only your very dearest friends or family at your marriage ceremony, then City Hall could be a great option. It is also a good way to restrict your ceremony guest list to a select few without hurting anyone else’s feelings.

The ceremony at a City Hall is generally non-religious and quite brief. This doesn’t mean that you can’t treat the ceremony like the special occasion that it is. The customary ensemble for a City Hall bride was a white suit worn with a little hat and tasteful pearl bridal jewelry. The little hat often had a puff of French net or tulle on it, but the bride would typically not wear a veil. A second time bride would opt for something similar, only her suit was in a pastel color.

The modern version of the City Hall bridal ensemble tends to be a sassy shorter white wedding gown. Retro 1950s styles are very popular for knee-length bridal gowns, and are usually topped off with pearl jewelry and a shortie veil. Brides who prefer a chic city look will love all of the mini length wedding gowns that designers are creating from elegant and flowing silk chiffon and charmeuse. Of course, the perfect accessory for a short wedding dress is a fabulous pair of shoes in white or a metallic color.

Just because you have chosen to have a small ceremony at City Hall does not mean that you cannot have a reception afterwards. Some couples choose to keep the entire event very small, only inviting the witnesses from the ceremony to join them for refreshments afterwards. For such a small group, you would generally just go out to lunch or dinner right after the ceremony in your favorite fancy restaurant. Be sure that there will be Champagne on hand to raise a toast to the newlyweds!

It is also perfectly acceptable to have an expanded group of family and friends that are invited to a reception following the private ceremony. The way to handle this is by having the regular sized invitation be to the reception only, with the following wording: The pleasure of your company / is requested at the wedding reception of / Camilla Anne Talbot / and / Gregory Chase Smith / on Saturday, the eleventh of June / at five o’clock / The Heritage Club / New York City. For the select few that are also being invited to the ceremony, you would enclose a smaller card which says: The pleasure of your company / is requested at the marriage ceremony / at four o’clock / City Hall / New York. It is important to note that while it is acceptable to invite additional people to the reception following a very small ceremony, it is quite rude to invite some people to the ceremony but not the dinner to follow.

Your reception following a City Hall wedding can be any style that appeals to you. Due to their smaller nature, these parties are often held in places like chic little boutique hotels, trendy lofts, or private clubs in the city. These intimate settings are the perfect size and style for a chic City Hall wedding.

5 Steps to Choosing Your Wedding Reception Hall

After your engagement one of the first things you do is set a date and choose your wedding reception hall. This is a fun process, but is a lot of work. Reception halls vary by size, price, decor and more. You’ll want to find a reception hall that fits your style, guest size and budget. Below are the top five steps you need to take to choose the perfect reception hall:

Step 1

Think about your style – do you like the suburbs prefer the city? Do you like old world charm, or are you fine with a large suburban reception hall that will fit all of your friends and family with ease? Determine the general location you’d like your wedding reception to be in and then determine what type of facility would suit you.

Step 2

Now you want to take a close look at your guest list and how much money you have to spend. This will put certain places off of your list right away if they don’t hold enough people or are out of your budget. You can usually find capacity figures, and sometimes minimum spends, on the reception hall’s website.

Step 3

Make a short list of your top five wedding reception halls and call them for an appointment. This is the fun part, because you can envision all of your reception at each facility. However, it’s not all fun and games – make sure to take a list of questions with you to ask the reception coordinator. It also helps to take a digital camera so you can remember each place and the things you liked about it. After your visits, you should have firm answers on price, food, preferred vendors, cake cutting fees, down payments, capacity, operation times, etc.

Step 4

Now you need to make a decision and call and reserve your date. Wedding reception halls can book up quick, so if you fall in love with a place make sure to call them right away and book. You’ll usually need to pay a down payment so they’ll hold it for you.

Step 5

Now that you have your wedding reception hall, you’ll want to think about how to set it up and decorate it. Think about things like tables, table cloths, table centerpieces, wedding favors for your guests, slide shows or movies, your DJ and more.

Every wedding is different, but if you follow these steps you should be on your way to finding the wedding reception hall of your dreams. Remember, this is a special time in your life, so have fun with it and choose a wedding reception hall you’ll remember for years to come.

Latin Born Baseball Players In The Hall Of Fame

Latin players have made a huge impact on the game of baseball. The first Latin born ball player in the Major Leagues was Luis Castro who played with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1902. Castro was born in Medellin, Columbia.

Since then, many Latin born baseball players have played Major League Baseball. There are approximately 150 Latin players in the Major Leagues today. And many of them are stars and possibly future Hall of Famers.

Albert Pujols, for example was born in the Dominican Republic. Adrian Gonzales of the San Diego Padres is from Mexico. Ivan Rodriguez and Jorge Posada were born in Puerto Rico. David Ortiz and Hanley Ramirez are also from the Dominican Republic. Just to name a few.

There are six Latin born former Major Leaguers that have been inducted into baseball’s Hall Of Fame. Puerto Rican Roberto Clemente was the first Latin elected to the Hall Of Fame in 1973. Roberto was a four time batting champion and a 12 time Gold Glove winner. After he died in a plane crash, Clemente was unanimously elected to the Hall Of Fame. The five year waiting period a player has to wait for entry into the Hall was waived for Roberto. Since this rule was added, he is the only player to have it waived.

Roberto Clemente was also the first Latin player to win a World Series as a starter with the Pirates in 1960. He’s also the first Latin to win a League Most Valuable Player Award which he won in 1966, and to win a World Series MVP in1971.

Pitcher and Dominican Juan Marichal was the second Latin inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1983. Juan was an eleven time All Star and won the All Star game MVP award in 1965. His lifetime earned run average was 2.89. He won 243 games and struck out 2,303.

Cuban born Tony Perez was inducted in 2000. He was most known for his years with Cincinnati’s Big Red Machine. Perez batted.279 with 379 home runs and 1,652 runs batted in.

Rod Carew is from Panama and was elected in 1991. Rod won seven batting titles, finished with a career.328 average and 3,053 hits. In 1972 Carew did something that no player had done before and hasn’t done since. He won the batting title without hitting a single home run. He was the American League’s Rookie Of The Year in 1967 and the Most Valuable Player in 1977.

Born in Puerto Rico, Orlando Cepeda entered the Hall Of Fame in 1999. Cepeda was the National League’s Rookie Of The Year in 1958 and won the Most Valuable Player Award in 1967. He has a career.297 batting average, 379 home runs and 1,365 runs batted in.

Luis Aparicio was born in Venezuela and was elected to the Hall in 1984. Luis was the 1956 American League Rookie Of The Year and won nine Gold Gloves. He finished with 2,677 hits and led the American League in stolen bases nine consecutive seasons.

There are three other Latin players in the Hall Of Fame. Martin DiHigo, Cristobal Torriente and Jose Mendez, all from Cuba, were Negro league stars but never played in the Major Leagues.

With all the great Latin players in today’s game, it won’t be long before there are more than seven enshrined at Cooperstown.

Gil Hodges – Does He Belong in the Hall of Fame?

In death, Gil Hodges is almost more influential than he was in life.

The iconic Brooklyn Dodgers first baseman, who died of a heart attack two days shy of his 48th birthday in 1972, has inspired everything from newspaper articles to Facebook groups in recent years calling for his selection to the Hall of Fame.

Hodges fell just short with the Baseball Writers Association of America in his 15th and final year of eligibility in 1983 when he received 63.4 percent of the votes, less than the 75 percent needed for induction. It’s among the most votes any man not in the Hall of Fame has received, and in fact, six players who got fewer votes than Hodges did in 1983 have since been selected to Cooperstown.

Hodges is eligible for selection by the Veterans Committee, and whether he eventually is honored could depend on the following:

Pro

1. Hodges came close with the writers, like recent Veterans Committee selections: In the past 20 years, the Veterans Committee has named 10 modern era Major League Baseball players to the Hall of Fame. The committee’s task is to find overlooked players, but it tends to honor players who garnered significant support with the writers. Recent committee honorees appeared on the writers ballot 13 years apiece, on average, and Jim Bunning and Nellie Fox each came within one percent of the needed votes. Of the remaining eight players, Hodges got a higher percentage of the writers vote than seven.

2. Sentimental appeal: Besides inspiring the newspaper articles and Facebook support, Hodges was mentioned in the 1989 film Field of Dreams as one of the ghost ballplayers, and Roger Kahn wrote of him in The Boys of Summer.

3. Hodges ranks among the finest defensive first basemen of all-time: He won three straight Gold Glove awards from 1957 through 1959 and led all National League first basemen in fielding percentage four times, among other things. Lifetime, Hodges is second in NL history with 1,281 assists and 1,614 double plays.

Con

1. Hodges’ offensive numbers don’t compare to many Hall of Famers: By no means did Hodges put up poor career numbers. His 370 home runs are more than Joe DiMaggio, Ralph Kiner or Johnny Mize. It’s just that little is spectacular about Hodges’ totals, overall, from his.273 batting average to his.487 slugging percentage to his 1,921 career hits. None of the ten players that Baseball Reference lists Hodges most similar to offensively are in Cooperstown.

2. His career was deceptively short: Though Hodges appeared in 18 seasons, he had just 12 with at least 400 plate appearances and was a bench player his final four seasons.

3. Defense is often not a ticket into Cooperstown: For every defensive wizard like Brooks Robinson, Ozzie Smith or Bill Mazeroski in the Hall of Fame, there are many more offensive stalwarts like Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron or Ted Williams. In fact, two of the finest defensive first basemen of all-time, Keith Hernandez and Hal Chase, are not in Cooperstown. Chase was barred from the game for gambling, while Hernandez had well-documented drug problems and, like Hodges, declined rapidly at the end of his career.

4. The Veterans Committee moves slowly and many worthy players could also be considered: It’s not difficult to make a list of the ten best baseball players not in the Hall of Fame. In fact, many former All Stars fell short with the writers and, like Hodges, exhausted their 15 years of eligibility, including Roger Maris, Don Newcombe, Tony Oliva, Maury Wills and Tommy John. Over the last 20 years, the Veterans Committee has honored an average of one modern era player every two years and sometimes waits decades to tab forgotten men. The most recent player selected by the committee, Joe Gordon in 2009, last appeared on the writers ballot in 1970.

Bottom line: Hodges voting totals indicate he may get selected by the Veterans Committee in the next 10 to 15 years, but it’s no sure thing.

Your Pool Hall’s Billiard Supplies

Nothing can be as exciting as owning a pool hall right inside your house where you can keep all of your billiard supplies and collections. It is just like having your own billiard haven. Having one, though, means spending a lot of money, time and effort to get the kind of hall you desire. However, for billiard enthusiasts, building and creating a pool hall is never hard work, rather, it is fun work.

A pool hall should contain almost all billiard supplies necessary for it to be really considered as one. You need to bring in such essential billiard supplies as cue sticks, cue racks, billiard posters and billiard balls other than the billiard table (but of course). If you have been a billiard fan for quite some time, you probably have collected a bunch of stuffs about billiards. These stuffs can be brought into your pool hall to add accent to it and to bring more billiard flavor and flair to the pool hall.

Not only do you need these supplies but you also need proper lighting and some more equipment and items that will maintain your billiard table and other supplies in a good condition.

Perhaps, there are times when you bring in friends, guests in your house to play in your pool hall. They are not expected to bring with them pool supplies of their own. Thus, it is recommended to keep at least 2 or 3 cue sticks that your guests can use during game time. You also need to keep bridge sticks for those hard to reach hits, especially when you have a guest who is a little bit shorter. For a more organized look of the hall, bring in a cue rack to store your cue sticks to prevent them from lying down in every part of the room.

Bernina 830 – A Hall of Fame Sewing Machine

If you were to start a sewing machine Hall of Fame, the first few inductees might include the Singer 221 Featherweight and perhaps a Singer 201, but… it would definitely include a Bernina 830.

This industry and sewing proven machine has a large and dedicated following… and more and more sewists want to join the 830 club. As a result, even though it was only produced from 1972 through 1977, it’s probably more in demand today than it ever has been.

Prices unfortunately reflect this — there’s not a great supply, but there is a great demand. Expect to pay between $350 and $800 for a good used machine! The Bernina 830 is one of those rare and happy mechanical occurrences where the manufacturer simply got everything right (kind of like a 1957 Chevrolet!). These metal and mechanical marvels purr along as smoothly today as when they first left the dealer showroom.

The manuals are long out of print — although copies are easily found on the Internet. There are online support groups as well (like I said, there’s a dedicated following!)

The 830 is a sturdy mechanical machine — no computers or chips. It offers 21 stitches — with 15 of them being decorative. It has 5 different needle positions and you can vary the stitch width and length up to 4mm. You’ve also got a Five Step Buttonhole; this is the same as a four step buttonhole, with a fifth straight securing stitch down one side of the buttonhole stitching.

Controls manage the stitch length (including reverse), the stitch width, and the stitch selection (straight/zig-zag mode or decorative stitch mode). There’s a dial for the 5 step buttonhole as well as selections to drop the feed dogs and to slip into a “slow speed/high torque” mode for extra punch!

Finally, there’s a socket that accepts Bernina’s presser foot lift arm. Nudge it with your right knee to raise the sewing foot (you can also raise it manually with the standard lift arm behind the sewing head.). To really use the knee lift properly, you should use your left foot for the foot control! This takes a tiny bit of getting-used-to, but is nice once you do so.

The 830 is a free arm machine — although there is a sewing “table” that slides and locks onto the free arm — that uses old style Bernina feet. These are bayonet mount feet that pop on and off incredibly easily (that’s what sold me on my first Bernina). The old style foot is a little shorter than the new style.

Once you join the Bernina family, you’ll find yourself in constant foot acquisition mode! There are dozens and dozens of feet — but you can get by with only a few. Standard feet on an original 830 include Zigzag, Embroidery, Overlock, Blindstitch, Buttonhole, Small Darning, Tailor tacking, Hemmer 4mm, Pintuck (7-groove), Lap Hemmer, Zipper, and the low Shank Adaptor.

Bernina “Old Style” feet are readily available. List price tends to be $20 to $30 per foot; used feet may only be a few dollars on Ebay.

I’ve occasionally had bobbin woes on Bernina models — but never on the 830 series. It simply works all the time.

The Bernina 830 is a simple machine — but there’s something special about being simple. If you’re simple and easy-to-use… then you have to be really, really good! The Bernina 830 passes this test easily — as attested by the legion of fond owners. If you get a chance to start your own Hall of Fame, you couldn’t go wrong by including the Bernina 830 as an early member!

Hall of Supreme Harmony: The Highest Class Palace in The Forbidden City

History

The Hall of Supreme Harmony was built in the Ming Dynasty and it is was in ruins at the end of the Ming dynasty.

The hall has received its present name after it was built in the years of Qing Emperor Shunzhi. In 1669, it was renovated and later, large scale reconstruction was done in 1695. The hall’s 9-rooms width was modified to an 11-room width, but the main hall kept its original design, so as to demonstrated the relationship of the number 9 and 5 which refer to the emperor. The floor space of the Hall of Supreme Harmony covers 2,377 square meters and its height is 35.05 meters high. It is the tallest and largest hall among the palatial complexes of China.

Function

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties the hall was where grand court ceremonies were held. The grand occasion of Chinese Lunar New Year, the Emperor’s birthday, the emperors enthronement, imperial wedding, the dispatch of generals to battle and the declaration of successful candidates of the imperial examination ceremonies were all held at the Hall of Supreme Harmony. One day before the emperor went to pray in the Temple of Heaven for rainfall, a good harvest as well as for worshipping heaven, he was required to read the sacrificial writings in the hall.

Construction Pattern

Roof of the Hall

The Hall Supreme Harmony is an example of the highest class of the palace architecture with a double-eave hip-roof style. On both ends of its front ridge are glazed ornaments called dragon mouths which can quench fire. The ornaments are not only decorations; these also have the added function of stabilizing the ridge and preventing rain from leaking into the building. The Hall has the largest dragon mouth existing from imperial times. A dragon month was considered to have magic power. When one was made, the emperor would send first rank officials to greet it at the kiln; when it was installed, a table was placed at the location for burning incense so as to show respect to it. On the upturned eaves of the building, there are two rows of glazed nails where an immortal riding on the phoenix and 10 other mythical animals are placed. According to their traditional order, the ten animals are the dragon, phoenix, lion, sea horse, heavenly horse, Yaya, Suanni, Douniu and Hangshi. The animals and nails are not only decorations;they also stabilize the glazed tiles on the roof. You can find the immortal riding on a phoenix on every upturned eave in the Forbidden City, but the numbers of the animals are different according to the class of the architecture. The animals are added starting from the end of the row according to traditional order and are always odd in number. For example, there is one animal for the Gate of Mental Cultivation; three for the watchtowers of the Forbidden City; five for the Palace of Gathering Excellence; seven for the Hall of Middle Harmony and nine for the Hall of Preserving Harmony. Ten animals were only for buildings of the highest rank:The Hall of Supreme Harmony.

Pillars

The Hall of Supreme Harmony is supported by 72 pillars with 66 red pillars scattered on two sides. Six gold gilded pillars with coiling dragons are placed on both sides of the precious throne.

Caisson

The caisson is also called the Heavenly Well or Dragon Well. The one is the Hall of Supreme Harmony is circular at the top and square towards the bottom. Being 1.8 meters in depth, it is composed of upper, middle and lower sections. The lowest section is a square well. The middle is octagonal while the upper section is circular. In the center of the caisson is a coiling dragon holding a precious mirror in the month. The mirror hanging high up inside the Hall of Supreme Harmony represents the present emperor.

Setting a caisson on the ceiling implies the dignity of the emperor. Apart from the Hall of Supreme Harmony, there are caissons inside the most important structures of the Forbidden City, such as the Palace of Heavenly Purity and the Hall of Mental Cultivation. Placement of caissons inside public altars and temples used to show the great power of the Buddha and immortals. In addition, the caisson also has the meaning of conquering fire.

Emperor’s Throne

The main exhibit in the Hall of Supreme Harmony is the throne of the emperor. The whole throne is covered with Golden Dragons. Behind it stands seven screens carved with dragons and painted in golden paint. Above the throne is square caisson with a dragon facing downwards. Six dragons carved on the six golden painted pillars on both sides of the throne. The dragons face the throne, showcasing imperial dignity. The throne is on an upraised platform, surrounded by a palace fan, incense burners and cranes.

The throne was left behind by the Ming and successively used in the Qing. When Yuan Shikai restored feudal rule, the throne was removed and substituted with a sofa of an indistinct style. During early time after the liberation, experts on the Forbidden City discovered the original throne in a furniture warehouse. After a year’s repair, the throne was restored to its original condition.

Billiard Supplies You’ll Need in Setting Up a Pool Hall

Owning a pool hall requires a lot of effort, time and money. But if you are passionate about this indoor sport then all those mentioned can be simply brushed aside. Setting up a hall requires careful planning. You have to purchase the basic billiard equipment that is composed of billiard tables, cue sticks and billiard balls. Apart from acquiring these basic items you also have to purchase some more billiard supplies for organization, lighting and maintenance.

The sport of billiards utilizes a number of items. You have to provide the players in your hall with cue sticks of varying lengths that would be suitable to your player’s height. You also have to equip your pool hall with mechanical bridges to extend your player’s reach. All these cue sticks and bridges have to be placed in cue racks for proper storage and easy access. The cue racks also have hooks and shelves so you can also store billiards supplies like triangles, pool balls, chalk, and talc powders.

Proper lighting is also important. Billiards is a precision game so the playing surface should be well lite. Pool table lights come in different designs so you can choose ones that compliment your theme for your pool hall.

Maintenance is crucial so that your billiard equipment and supplies last for a long time. You have to equip your hall with table brushes, cloths, ball cleaners, table covers and cue cases. These items will protect, clean and maintain your pool hall equipment in good condition. Completing all these billiards supplies will get you ready to open your pool hall to fellow billiard fanatics.

Qivana – The Secret Derek Hall of Qivana

Qivana is another new MLM startup that has thrown its hat into the health and wellness arena. What helps set Qivana apart is the unique approach to the health products they market. The company concentrates on detoxification and cleansing of the body first, while implementing a Chinese herb and mineral regimen later, after the body has regained its ability to absorb the nutrients.

Qivana is the brainchild of Derek Hall even though he shares the spotlight with co-founders Rodney James, Devin Glazier and Justin Banner, all of which have extensive backgrounds in the health and wellness industry.

Derek Hall is quite the impressive success story considering he emigrated at 15 from England. He began his working life at McKesson Corp as a truck driver of all things. Some would say that starting his career working for a pharmaceutical company and continuing there for 26 yrs really molded him for his success in the natural supplements business. He actually spent the last 10 yrs at McKesson as Senior V.P. in San Francisco at their corporate offices.

Literally every company that Derek Hall has touched, has experienced tremendous growth and prosperity.

At McKesson, sales revenues grew from 10 to 22 billion with Derek at the helm. As Chief Executive Officer of Oasis Life Sciences, annual sales ballooned from $18,000,000 to 76,000,000 in just over 2 yrs. As President and Chief Executive Officer of Botanicals Int’l, annual sales exploded to 42 million from 26 million in 2 yrs.

Seems everything Derek Hall touches simply turns to gold, and with good reason. He seems to have a unique vision for the future of natural products in the respective industry.

The fact that Derek also owned 3 businesses and founded Integrated Therapeutics, an alternative care company, helps give him a different perspective. One that can only help in his quest for the success of Qivana and the Independent Business Owner (IBO).

There are some in the industry that might say that Qivana is troubled right out of the gate, considering Derek Hall has been sued by UniVera Sciences, a company in which he served as the chief Executive Officer.

I personally have never been one to really believe in any type of non compete agreements and that is basically what the Qivana lawsuit is really about.

Realistically, how could anyone in their right mind expect someone like Derek Hall, who has spent 40 yrs. in this industry, not to re-enter if after taking a couple of yrs off after resigning from UniVera? It would be a totally different situation if he had stolen top secret, proprietary company research documents. If you read the petition, it’s more about him starting Qivana than anything else.

I guess it will depend on the way in which his contract with UniVera Sciences was written, oh, and of course the mood of the judge on any given day.

At the end of the day, with the unique and distinctive product line, and the top notch executive team Qivana has assembled, one would have to say they get an A+ in the areas of product development and industry experience, but a C- in regards to the online marketing training their IBO’s receive. Anyone that is anyone online knows you must drive huge amounts of very targeted traffic to sites and systems (that you own), and your blogs if you want to be successful in the long term.

Everyone runs out of friends, family and neighbors eventually.
