The Biggest Danger for Earth – The Hercolubus (Planet X) Inbound

Insiders from NASA, DoD national military intelligence, SETI, and the CIA speculate 2/3 of the population of the planet could perish during the coming pole-shift caused by the passage of Hercolubus (Planet X). Another 2/3 of those that survive initially could pass away to starvation and exposure to the elements within 6 months.

Most every secretive government agency in the USA is fully aware of what is expected and are readying themselves. The Vatican is fully abreast of what is expected. The public is not being warned and given their chance to prepare.

The volume of leaks from insiders, observatories, and the Vatican is bursting the dam of this disclosure wide open. The most important story on earth in over 3000 years is fast breaking loose from being held back by the controllers of the financial markets and major media for fear of panic and financial collapse.

These controllers put money in higher regard than people. The public can be given a chance to prepare by being informed. Our planet could very well be about to go through massive regular earth changes once again as a result of the passage of Hercolubus through our immediate solar system.

Many areas are now getting a minor preview of these events now because of the plasmatic electromagnetic connection between the planets. They are experiencing unusual weather, storms, volcanism, and seismic activity.

Hercolubus orbits between our sun and its dark twin. A diagram from the 1987-1989 NEW ILLUSTRATED SCIENCE & INVENTION ENCYCLOPEDIA in volume 18 under Space Probes shows our dead twin sun & the 10th planet.

It shows one of the more amusing pieces of evidence for the existence of Hercolubus is a picture from the 1987 New Science and Invention Encyclopedia. In a section on space probes, the encyclopedia shows the paths of the 2 Pioneer probes and illustrates how the probes were used in the search for more planets. It shows the Earth, the Sun, a dead star (at 50 billion miles or 538 AU) and a tenth planet (Hercolubus) (at 4.7 billion miles or 50 AU).

Zecharia Sitchin, the world renowned scholar and archaeologist, does indicate on occasion his knowledge of the return of Nibiru “AT THIS TIME”! To be too public about it, would perhaps prove dangerous because of his weight in the scientific community.

Sitchin also states absolutely & openly: “When Planet X (Hercolubus) returns, it would remove 90% of currently unsatisfactory human beings from the planet!”

A group of scientists in Russia, held several meetings in the year 2000 to discuss the inbound planet, discovered from one of their largest observatories. A 66 year old professor and physicist let it be known that he attended this meeting. This led to the infamous “2003 Problem” from a Reuters news service wire on Sept.13th, 2000. Top Russian government officials called for a commission to study the problem which was said to expect to cause “a string of calamities and a massive population shrinkage.” They openly wondered whether Russia would still even exist as a country afterward.

Andrei Shukshin, said: “What we do know is that Hercolubus (Planet X) is inbound now. Because of the comets tail drag, this factor keeps varying the speed and thus the time of passage can’t be calculated accurately”.

A large observatory in St. Petersburg, Russia admit they have been watching Hercolubus (Planet X) for 3 years and are worried about the substantial damage it may cause to Earth during its passage. The name they gave for Hercolubus was “Raja Sun” or “Great Star”.

A local observatory on Victoria Island, Canada, admits that they have seen Hercolubus but they do not want to speak about the damage it could cause with its passage.

Insiders in NASA & the military privately confirm that many of them are quietly contracting out the building of dome-homes (strongest structure known to man) in the upper USA (one of the said safest areas). These domes can withstand hurricane force winds and earthquakes. If these domes are built in the rolling hills or foothills, well away from the shorelines, major population centers, and flat plains (that are expected to flood with the constant rain and melting poles), they think the chances of survival are good.

But really that is not a safe shelter; the only possibility to survive to the arrival of Hercolubus (Planet X) is to have a minimum conscience level that allows you to pass to the next mankind without contaminate them.

Trusting the pentagon and the government to guard itself & relay needed information to protect you is clearly illogical. Hercolubus is Planet X, Nibiru, Wormwood, or THE MOST REVERED HEAVENLY BODY IN ALL ANTIQUITY. After 3660 years on its regular orbit, our 10th planet will pass again. Hercolubus’s effects on Earth, from prior passings, are recorded in ancient texts and in THE SCIENCE OF GEOLOGY & ARCHEOLOGY.

There are 50 names for Planet X. “The Destroyer” is the latest name from New Zealand.

“WHAT IS APPROACHING US?”

Father Malachi Martin worked in and around the highest echelons of the Catholic Church, had an ear to the pope, and held 3 doctorates. He explained in 1997 that the celestial body approaching us will cause millions to perish during its passage in 5-10 years. He said to look to the skies for a sign of impending doom. The sign will be in the form of a cross and everyone will see it. (Hercolubus is said to look like a red cross in the sky when it first appears)

Also, Malachi Martin has read the “Third Secret of Fatima”, which he would not talk about it with Art Bell on the air. Art did ask him, “Would millions of people perish?” Malachi replied, “It is worse than that, it is worse than you can imagine”.

The Vatican actually owns its’ own telescope named VATT (Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope) which is operated out of the Mt. Graham Observatory, located in SE Arizona.

The purpose for Mt. Graham International Observatory is explained in an interview with Art Bell. The actual time of the clip is April 5th, 1997 at 4:30AM PST. The complete broadcast begins Friday, April 4th, 1997 at 10 PM PST.

Father Malachi Martin’s background: Eminent theologian, expert on the Catholic Church, former Jesuit and professor at the Vatican’s Pontifical Biblical Institute. He was trained in theology at Louvain. There he received his doctorates in Semitic Languages, Archaeology and Oriental History. He subsequently studied at Oxford and at Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

From 1958 to 1964 he served in Rome, where he was a close associate of the renowned Jesuit Cardinal Augustin Bea and Pope John XXIII. Martin passed away late 1999. Some believe his death was a result of his open disclosures of the inbound planet and that the Vatican did not want to reveal that Wormwood (Biblical name for Hercolubus) was also tied to the “Third Secret of Fatima”.

It seems that the Catholic Church sponsors and engages in scientific studies and not just to prove biblical history.

As of late there’s been a rash of observatories that have closed their doors for various reasons or have been destroyed. Many will simply not point their equipment for anyone in the direction of the Orion constellation if they do remain open. Some will give an excuse that there is some sort of obstruction in the way or equipment failure.

All at once, renovations are their favorite excuse. Griffith Observatory is the latest of a handful of the nation’s oldest planetariums to undergo major renovations in recent years. Others include the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum in Chicago and the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York. Coincidental or not, there are other observatories in various countries doing the same thing at this time.

Hercolubus (Planet X) has INTENTIONALLY BEEN MADE TO SOUND RIDICULOUS and confusing for several reasons. One of which is to avoid causing panic among the world’s population.

Many websites and articles continue to be written about Hercolubus (Planet X) that spread lies and disinformation.

1.) They say Hercolubus (Planet X) only MAY exist or there’s no evidence for its existence or it comes around only once every few million years if it does exist. This first level of disinformation is widespread.

2.) The second layer of disinformation is for people that have done their homework and absolutely know that Hercolubus (Planet X) does exist. For them, the disinformation artists are saying it will not arrive in our lifetime.

3.) Lastly, for the observatories that are completely aware of Hercolubus (Planet X) and its approximate arrival time, they are saying “keep quiet and don’t worry, nothing will happen during the passage.”

Hercolubus’s MASS, HIGH-PLASMA-CHARGED MAGNETISM, and DENSITY are such that it DISRUPTS the surface of EVERY PLANET IT PASSES. In fact, history shows a few YEARS PRIOR to its passage that its far reaching electromagnetic influence changes Earth’s core flows, TRIGGERING MAJOR WEATHER CHANGES.

VOLCANIC and SEISMIC ACTIVITY start to change 3-4 decades prior to each passage. Since 1996 traditional WEATHER has CHANGED DRAMATICALLY, breaking all time records regularly. The up-tick of QUAKES, VOLCANIC INCIDENTS and changes in ELECTROMAGNETICS are being kept out of the media as much as possible.

Weather alone can falsely be blamed on global warming & sun cycles but not earth’s rumblings and solar system wide changes at the same time.

99% of the universe is made up of charged-plasma at the atomic level. Planets are densely charged plasma spheres. The approach of Hercolubus (Planet X) back into our immediate solar system is sending a tremendous amount of electrically charged plasmatic energy particles in waves to all the planets in our solar system via the filamentary magnetic field lines that criss-cross the universe. The entire Universe is a connected web of electricity and plasma is the conductor.

The media would have you believe that the pollution of our industrial civilization is the cause of the weather changes or has caused global warming over the last few years. Since all planets in our solar system are experiencing dramatic changes, how can any of this be blamed on our irresponsible actions here Earth.

Why do they fail to mention the seismic and volcanic changes occurring simultaneously?

Why would ice cores show regular and dramatic changes in Earths climate from the past?

When you understand how our sun and every other planet in our solar system are being affected by Hercolubus’s approach, you’ll see how ridiculous the media cover-up becomes.

This is the Russian perspective on earth changes. Volcanic and seismic activities have increased 400-500 percent since 1975. All planets are changing, Earth is not singled out. Basically, everything in the solar system is experiencing unusual phenomena, increased activity and unusual weather. Hard facts are going unreported by western media. Dr. Dmitriev’s work shows that the planets themselves are changing.

They are undergoing variations in their atmospheres. For example, the Martian atmosphere is getting sizably thicker and Earth’s moon is growing an atmosphere and according to Dmitriev, there is a 6,000 kilometer deep layer of Natrium that wasn’t there previously. He says that we’re having this kind of change in the upper levels of Earth’s atmosphere where HO gas is forming that wasn’t there before; it simply did not exist in the quantity that it does now. It’s not related to global warming and it’s not related to CFCs or fluorocarbon emissions or any of that stuff. It’s just showing up.

Magnetic fields and brightness of the planets are changing. The planets are experiencing sizable increases in their overall luminosity. Venus for example, is showing us marked elevations in its overall brightness. Jupiter has such a high energetic charge now that there is actually a visible tube of ionizing radiation that has formed between it and its moon. You can actually see the luminous energy tube in photographs that have been taken recently. In addition, the magnetic field strength of each planet has increased.

Uranus and Neptune appear to have had recent pole shifts. When the Voyager 2 space probe flew past Uranus and Neptune, the apparent north and south magnetic poles were sizably offset from where the rotational pole was. In one case, it was 50 degrees off and in the other case the difference was around 40 degrees, both of which are pretty big changes.

The overall changes could essentially be broken down into three categories:

• Energy field changes

• Luminosity changes

• Atmospheric changes

Natural disasters increased 410 percent between 1963 and 1993. This does not take into account the largest increases that have taken place in the last 8-9 years since then! Dr. Dmitriev did a very elaborate calculation of natural disasters, to come up with these figures. Even the Sun’s magnetic field increased by 230 percent since 1901.

So, all in all, what we’re seeing is a lot more than just what they call Earth Changes. Very, very few people are aware of the work that is being done in the Russian National Academy of Sciences in Siberia, specifically in Novosibirsk, where they are doing this research.

Part of Dr. Dmitriev’s research shows that the glowing plasma at the edge of our Solar System has recently increased 1000 percent. Higher-charged energy is in turn exciting the plasma and causing more of it to form, so you see more luminosity, more brightness. This energy is then flowing into the Sun, which in turn emits the energy and spreads it out along its equatorial plane, which is called the Ecliptic.

All this is happening all at the same time and it’s all working up to a crescendo where there is going to be a sudden shift.

The Law of Attraction – Why Do Scientists Refuse to Believe in It?

As far as general scientists are concerned, The Law of Attraction is deemed ‘impossible.’ I use the term ‘general scientists,’ as opposed to the great scientific minds of today, Theoretical Physicists like Dr. Michio Kaku. Now frankly, I have no idea what his feelings are on the Law of Attraction, but I’m quite sure he doesn’t deny it out of hand. It’s accepted that the Universe and everything in it, all the suns, planets, solar systems, the Earth, humans, flora and fauna are all energy. As Herman von Helmholtz established, all forms of energy are equivalent. One form of energy may disappear, but another form will appear to take its place. So therefore energy continues unabated and undiminished.

If you and I are made of the same energy as the Universe, and like attracts like, then the Law of Attraction must be steeped in Truth. How do scientists explain such phenomena as Astral Projection? How do they view the experiments of the Russians and the CIA in particular, where not too long ago, an Army Ranger was recruited to carry out mind experiments where he actually visited places like Russia and entered rocket silos, all with his mind. After a year, he had to be pulled out of the programme, because the strain on his mind was such that he risked serious mental illness if he’d been allowed to continue.

The truth is, scientists don’t. They can’t. There is no cogent explanation, something that follows a Reason One, Reason Two, Reason Three system. But believe in the Law of Attraction? Good Lord, no. Load of rubbish! And yet, the whole concept is so basically simple. Different emotions emit different frequencies. For instance, have you ever known a wealthy person who was a pessimist? Oh, there have been unhappy millionaires. The first Astor was one. I don’t think he was a downright unpleasant man; just not very happy. But not being cheerful doesn’t cause his mind to be plagued by doubts as to his ability to make money. Even he, unhappy though he may have been, wouldn’t have allowed any thought of failure cross his mind.

Being unhappy and being pessimistic are not one and the same. When I served my apprenticeship, I became very friendly with a lad who seemed he had the Midas touch. We were both seventeen or eighteen at the time, and he decided he wanted to trade in second hand cars. Obviously, this was way before I’d heard of the Law of Attraction, Napoleon Hill or Wallace Wattles. But I studied him. Where I’d have been too nervous to enter into an enterprise, he knew no fear. Failure never crossed his mind. Whether he was convinced of success, I don’t know, but he simply carried on with his business and became quite successful.

I went away for two years abroad, and when I returned he’d opened a very smart car dealership in a nearby town. We lost touch, so what happened to him, I don’t know, but he was a classic example of never allowing fear of failure to cross his mind. Like the old story about the man who succeeded mightily in business and when someone asked him how he’d managed it, he replied; “Well, no-one ever told me I couldn’t.” I do think it’s important to be grateful for everything you have now and then make your affirmation about wanting wealth. You make up your mind how much you want, then simply visualize. The when and the how are dictated by the Universe.

The Egypt Economic Fiasco – Be Careful What You Humans Wish For!

For some reason, the United States media and the Obama Administration find that it is a good thing when mass mobs of humans go and protest, march, and create riots with civil unrest, and violence with local police forces. The reality is we wouldn’t allow that in our own country, so it’s hard to say why we are promoting it in another. When it comes to nations like Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Bolivia, or Venezuela it might make sense for national interests.

However, if we really want stability and peace in the world that’s the last thing we should be promoting on the African continent, or in the Middle East. Most of the people in the Middle East who are rioting in their “day of rage” protests are not all that peaceful and they are doing so because they want higher wages, more money spent on social causes, and lower prices for their necessities such as food. When the price of wheat went up 70% in the last year that caused civil unrest in many countries because the price of bread also increased, but why did that happen?

Well, the price of wheat went up because Russia decided it would not export its wheat after the fires they had, because they didn’t have enough in their own country. In the United States we have planted a lot of corn for biofuel, which takes land, water, and resources away from agriculture for food. Also it’s very hard to get our extra wheat to the world markets quickly and into the hands of those that normally buy their wheat from other markets in the world when they’ve set up their distribution channels a different way. Further, when the world price goes up and scarcity sets in, it’s too late.

Of course, that is only one problem they had in Egypt, there were many more and they all came due about the same time. For US diplomatic officials, the CIA, and the State Department to tell our citizens that they had no idea that Egypt or other nation-states were going to have such a terrible problem is complete nonsense. They saw it coming a mile away (Wall Street and Chicago Commodity Market surely did) and things were getting progressively worse.

What may people don’t understand is many of the free market changes which were made by the President of Egypt, Hosni Mubarek over the last decade have been quite good for their economy. They provided higher-paying jobs, more tourism, and some real industries.

In fact, hundreds of billions of dollars of foreign capital has been invested into their manufacturing sectors there. Therefore raising wages, more jobs, and it was helping the people come out of poverty. Of course with all the civil unrest, all is lost. There is now in its place; class warfare, and if you are wealthy from running a business, you are considered evil by the very people who demand higher wages, jobs, lower taxes, free food, and more social spending. You can’t have one without the other.

What happened could be considered anarchy, and a socialist movement. Some people might say “Power to the People,” but for the people to have real power they need to have real jobs, real lives, and real opportunity – unfortunately all that has now been destroyed.

There was an interesting article the Wall Street Journal on March 31, 2011, titled “Cairo Revolution Finds New Target: Free-Market” by Yaroslav Trofimov and Matt Bradely – in this article they stated that The Muslim Brotherhood and other groups with political influence were attacking the very free markets and free enterprise system which has brought in Egypt economy is far, something the US should be supporting.

Thus, it’s all downhill from here. What transpired should not inspire, because what has happened is disgusting, anti-capitalist, and will hurt real people and end up economically enslaving another future generation – thanks for nothing!? Indeed I hope you please consider all this.

Lance Krall Crawls to the Top in Hollywood

Although no one will ever match Sid Caesar’s portrayal of hundreds of comedic characters that he created on his sketch-comedy show with Imogene Coca in the 1950s, Lance Krall comes mighty close. And just as TV hailed Caesar with his own show, so it does for Krall, as Vh1 launches the second season of “Free Radio,” which will run eight consecutive Thursdays at 11 p.m. beginning April 2.

Although in “Free Radio” Krall sticks to one character, versus the hundreds of them that he easily slides into in a heartbeat during an improv performance, you never know what his character will do. Playing a moronic morning radio host who interviews A-list celebrities, such as Kiefer Sutherland, Tony Shalhoub and Ray Romano, he and his guest improvise the entire show.

Krall started his acting career in Atlanta at Whole World Theater, an improvisation troupe he co-founded a year before graduating in 1995 with a B.A. in Film and Theater from Georgia State University. As a student at Whole World, I saw his versions of characters that seemed as real as anyone you’ve seen at home, at a mall or at a park. Not only could he mimic a person’s voice, facial movements and postures, he put his wide variety of characters in uncanny situations, gave them certain ticks, and made them say and do things that were hilarious.

I wasn’t the only one gushing over his talent at Whole World. After a Hollywood talent agent spotted him there and suggested he move to L.A., he did in 2000, and landed his first acting job in an NBC sketch-comedy show produced by Steve Martin called “The Downer Channel.” It was a downer, and lasted only four episodes. From there, Krall portrayed “Kip the Gay Guy” on “The Joe Schmo Show,” a faux-reality show on Spike TV, and then created his own show, “The Lance Krall Show,” which also ran on Spike.

Krall has been acting and writing since he landed in Hollywood. If you want to laugh really hard, click visit YouTube and type in “Lance Krall” to see his crank phone calls and his appearance on Conan O’Brien explaining why the CIA shut down three airports to look for him. It really is a true story.

The Psychology of Torture

There is one place in which one’s privacy, intimacy, integrity and inviolability are guaranteed – one’s body, a unique temple and a familiar territory of sensa and personal history. The torturer invades, defiles and desecrates this shrine. He does so publicly, deliberately, repeatedly and, often, sadistically and sexually, with undisguised pleasure. Hence the all-pervasive, long-lasting, and, frequently, irreversible effects and outcomes of torture.

In a way, the torture victim’s own body is rendered his worse enemy. It is corporeal agony that compels the sufferer to mutate, his identity to fragment, his ideals and principles to crumble. The body becomes an accomplice of the tormentor, an uninterruptible channel of communication, a treasonous, poisoned territory.

It fosters a humiliating dependency of the abused on the perpetrator. Bodily needs denied – sleep, toilet, food, water – are wrongly perceived by the victim as the direct causes of his degradation and dehumanization. As he sees it, he is rendered bestial not by the sadistic bullies around him but by his own flesh.

The concept of “body” can easily be extended to “family”, or “home”. Torture is often applied to kin and kith, compatriots, or colleagues. This intends to disrupt the continuity of “surroundings, habits, appearance, relations with others”, as the CIA put it in one of its manuals. A sense of cohesive self-identity depends crucially on the familiar and the continuous. By attacking both one’s biological body and one’s “social body”, the victim’s psyche is strained to the point of dissociation.

Beatrice Patsalides describes this transmogrification thus in “Ethics of the unspeakable: Torture survivors in psychoanalytic treatment”:

“As the gap between the ‘I’ and the ‘me’ deepens, dissociation and alienation increase. The subject that, under torture, was forced into the position of pure object has lost his or her sense of interiority, intimacy, and privacy. Time is experienced now, in the present only, and perspective – that which allows for a sense of relativity – is foreclosed. Thoughts and dreams attack the mind and invade the body as if the protective skin that normally contains our thoughts, gives us space to breathe in between the thought and the thing being thought about, and separates between inside and outside, past and present, me and you, was lost.”

Torture robs the victim of the most basic modes of relating to reality and, thus, is the equivalent of cognitive death. Space and time are warped by sleep deprivation. The self (“I”) is shattered. The tortured have nothing familiar to hold on to: family, home, personal belongings, loved ones, language, name. Gradually, they lose their mental resilience and sense of freedom. They feel alien – unable to communicate, relate, attach, or empathize with others.

Torture splinters early childhood grandiose narcissistic fantasies of uniqueness, omnipotence, invulnerability, and impenetrability. But it enhances the fantasy of merger with an idealized and omnipotent (though not benign) other – the inflicter of agony. The twin processes of individuation and separation are reversed.

Torture is the ultimate act of perverted intimacy. The torturer invades the victim’s body, pervades his psyche, and possesses his mind. Deprived of contact with others and starved for human interactions, the prey bonds with the predator. “Traumatic bonding”, akin to the Stockholm syndrome, is about hope and the search for meaning in the brutal and indifferent and nightmarish universe of the torture cell.

The abuser becomes the black hole at the center of the victim’s surrealistic galaxy, sucking in the sufferer’s universal need for solace. The victim tries to “control” his tormentor by becoming one with him (introjecting him) and by appealing to the monster’s presumably dormant humanity and empathy.

This bonding is especially strong when the torturer and the tortured form a dyad and “collaborate” in the rituals and acts of torture (for instance, when the victim is coerced into selecting the torture implements and the types of torment to be inflicted, or to choose between two evils).

The psychologist Shirley Spitz offers this powerful overview of the contradictory nature of torture in a seminar titled “The Psychology of Torture” (1989):

“Torture is an obscenity in that it joins what is most private with what is most public. Torture entails all the isolation and extreme solitude of privacy with none of the usual security embodied therein … Torture entails at the same time all the self exposure of the utterly public with none of its possibilities for camaraderie or shared experience. (The presence of an all powerful other with whom to merge, without the security of the other’s benign intentions.)

A further obscenity of torture is the inversion it makes of intimate human relationships. The interrogation is a form of social encounter in which the normal rules of communicating, of relating, of intimacy are manipulated. Dependency needs are elicited by the interrogator, but not so they may be met as in close relationships, but to weaken and confuse. Independence that is offered in return for ‘betrayal’ is a lie. Silence is intentionally misinterpreted either as confirmation of information or as guilt for ‘complicity’.

Torture combines complete humiliating exposure with utter devastating isolation. The final products and outcome of torture are a scarred and often shattered victim and an empty display of the fiction of power.”

Obsessed by endless ruminations, demented by pain and a continuum of sleeplessness – the victim regresses, shedding all but the most primitive defense mechanisms: splitting, narcissism, dissociation, projective identification, introjection, and cognitive dissonance. The victim constructs an alternative world, often suffering from depersonalization and derealization, hallucinations, ideas of reference, delusions, and psychotic episodes.

Sometimes the victim comes to crave pain – very much as self-mutilators do – because it is a proof and a reminder of his individuated existence otherwise blurred by the incessant torture. Pain shields the sufferer from disintegration and capitulation. It preserves the veracity of his unthinkable and unspeakable experiences.

This dual process of the victim’s alienation and addiction to anguish complements the perpetrator’s view of his quarry as “inhuman”, or “subhuman”. The torturer assumes the position of the sole authority, the exclusive fount of meaning and interpretation, the source of both evil and good.

Torture is about reprogramming the victim to succumb to an alternative exegesis of the world, proffered by the abuser. It is an act of deep, indelible, traumatic indoctrination. The abused also swallows whole and assimilates the torturer’s negative view of him and often, as a result, is rendered suicidal, self-destructive, or self-defeating.

Thus, torture has no cut-off date. The sounds, the voices, the smells, the sensations reverberate long after the episode has ended – both in nightmares and in waking moments. The victim’s ability to trust other people – i.e., to assume that their motives are at least rational, if not necessarily benign – has been irrevocably undermined. Social institutions are perceived as precariously poised on the verge of an ominous, Kafkaesque mutation. Nothing is either safe, or credible anymore.

Victims typically react by undulating between emotional numbing and increased arousal: insomnia, irritability, restlessness, and attention deficits. Recollections of the traumatic events intrude in the form of dreams, night terrors, flashbacks, and distressing associations.

The tortured develop compulsive rituals to fend off obsessive thoughts. Other psychological sequelae reported include cognitive impairment, reduced capacity to learn, memory disorders, sexual dysfunction, social withdrawal, inability to maintain long-term relationships, or even mere intimacy, phobias, ideas of reference and superstitions, delusions, hallucinations, psychotic microepisodes, and emotional flatness.

Depression and anxiety are very common. These are forms and manifestations of self-directed aggression. The sufferer rages at his own victimhood and resulting multiple dysfunction. He feels shamed by his new disabilities and responsible, or even guilty, somehow, for his predicament and the dire consequences borne by his nearest and dearest. His sense of self-worth and self-esteem are crippled.

In a nutshell, torture victims suffer from a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Their strong feelings of anxiety, guilt, and shame are also typical of victims of childhood abuse, domestic violence, and rape. They feel anxious because the perpetrator’s behavior is seemingly arbitrary and unpredictable – or mechanically and inhumanly regular.

They feel guilty and disgraced because, to restore a semblance of order to their shattered world and a modicum of dominion over their chaotic life, they need to transform themselves into the cause of their own degradation and the accomplices of their tormentors.

The CIA, in its “Human Resource Exploitation Training Manual – 1983” (reprinted in the April 1997 issue of Harper’s Magazine), summed up the theory of coercion thus:

“The purpose of all coercive techniques is to induce psychological regression in the subject by bringing a superior outside force to bear on his will to resist. Regression is basically a loss of autonomy, a reversion to an earlier behavioral level. As the subject regresses, his learned personality traits fall away in reverse chronological order. He begins to lose the capacity to carry out the highest creative activities, to deal with complex situations, or to cope with stressful interpersonal relationships or repeated frustrations.”

Inevitably, in the aftermath of torture, its victims feel helpless and powerless. This loss of control over one’s life and body is manifested physically in impotence, attention deficits, and insomnia. This is often exacerbated by the disbelief many torture victims encounter, especially if they are unable to produce scars, or other “objective” proof of their ordeal. Language cannot communicate such an intensely private experience as pain.

Spitz makes the following observation:

“Pain is also unsharable in that it is resistant to language … All our interior states of consciousness: emotional, perceptual, cognitive and somatic can be described as having an object in the external world … This affirms our capacity to move beyond the boundaries of our body into the external, sharable world. This is the space in which we interact and communicate with our environment. But when we explore the interior state of physical pain we find that there is no object ‘out there’ – no external, referential content. Pain is not of, or for, anything. Pain is. And it draws us away from the space of interaction, the sharable world, inwards. It draws us into the boundaries of our body.”

Bystanders resent the tortured because they make them feel guilty and ashamed for having done nothing to prevent the atrocity. The victims threaten their sense of security and their much-needed belief in predictability, justice, and rule of law. The victims, on their part, do not believe that it is possible to effectively communicate to “outsiders” what they have been through. The torture chambers are “another galaxy”. This is how Auschwitz was described by the author K. Zetnik in his testimony in the Eichmann trial in Jerusalem in 1961.

Kenneth Pope in “Torture”, a chapter he wrote for the “Encyclopedia of Women and Gender: Sex Similarities and Differences and the Impact of Society on Gender”, quotes Harvard psychiatrist Judith Herman:

“It is very tempting to take the side of the perpetrator. All the perpetrator asks is that the bystander do nothing. He appeals to the universal desire to see, hear, and speak no evil. The victim, on the contrary, asks the bystander to share the burden of pain. The victim demands action, engagement, and remembering.”

But, more often, continued attempts to repress fearful memories result in psychosomatic illnesses (conversion). The victim wishes to forget the torture, to avoid re-experiencing the often life threatening abuse and to shield his human environment from the horrors. In conjunction with the victim’s pervasive distrust, this is frequently interpreted as hypervigilance, or even paranoia. It seems that the victims can’t win. Torture is forever.

Squash Ball Random Sequence Generator Considered

Well, I don’t care what anyone else says, humans are cool. Why you ask, well because they are so darned random at times, almost like a squash ball in full battle play. Let me explain what I mean by all that because I have a concept that could help us generate random sequences while enjoying one of the most fun and fastest paced sports; squash. Perhaps you have heard, or maybe you haven’t that generating a totally random set of numbers is very hard to do.

Mathematicians, many who play sports, and most that don’t have tried to conceive a way to come up with mathematics which would constantly generate random sequence numbers. This turns out to be very hard to do. Sure, there are numbers like pi which are seemingly random even when taken out tens of thousands of digits behind the decimal point, but because these numbers are so random, or appear to be, and because everyone already knows all the numbers of pi, we can’t use those. So then, I propose that we use a squash ball during play to give us random numbers.

What I propose is that we take the entire court and make it into a three-dimensional grid. Every time the ball hits a certain square that is recorded. The ball itself will also have a grid on it and will only record the specific grid on the ball that hit the specific grid on one of the walls of the court. Meanwhile the people who are playing the game of squash have a grid on their racket. Depending on where the ball hits on the racket and the specific grid on the ball which touches the racket at that point would record another number.

As the ball is played you would have total randomness. All this could be done by humans. If we had many courts being played in let’s say in Washington DC, making all the bureaucrats workout playing squash so they didn’t get too overweight, then the NSA and the military, along with the CIA could have tons of randomly generated numbers to help them protect their data in their computers systems. Corporations might do the same thing by allowing their workers during lunch to go play squash.

If everyone was playing squash everyone would be healthy because it is a superior cardiovascular workout. That would also drive our healthcare insurance premiums down and keep Americans fit and trim. Now that’s a random thought indeed. Please consider all this and think on it.

Review: Author Charle Boyle’s Shuttle Rising: To Rendezvous With A Rumor

Charles Boyle’s absorbing tale, Shuttle Rising: To Rendezvous With A Rumor makes excellent use of his profound knowledge of space research and technology resulting in some very imaginative plot twists. Boyle’s writing has appeared in Science and Omni magazines and he has served as space flight editor for the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology. He was also the Educational Programs Manager for Earth Sciences at the Goddard Space Flight Center.

The narrative opens when the Technical Director of the CIA, Mike Benson, is informed by a doctoral candidate of a mysterious signal that has been detected from a listening scan of the night sky.

After some speculation, it is deduced that a Russian satellite, (given the name Ivan), is a remnant from the last century and seems to be calling somebody. However, it is not known who, how or why? In addition, it is believed that there is a timer set to go off once a year on the fourth of July, only over the continental USA, and in the hydrogen wavelength.

Due to the Soviet’s practice of secrecy and their total absence of confessing to any shortcomings, you never knew when their space ventures succeeded or failed. Could it be the unthinkable that Ivan was one of their failures? That a Russian cosmonaut was used as fodder for their space experimentations and is dead in orbit?

Meanwhile, as the plot unfolds, the United Nations is presented with a resolution pertaining to the”Open Lands Treaty,” whereby all nations would vote to eliminate nuclear weapons. If passed, it would mean that each nation would consent to having inspectors on its own soil in order to confirm that the treaty is honored. The Russians are appalled at such a requirement and refuse to go along with the proposal stating that it would be placing spies in their midst.

This now sets the stage for the USA to try and prove that the Russians are in fact trying to hide something and that one of their cosmonauts has been lost in space. Once this is accomplished, the Russians will come back and sign the treaty.

One of America’s leading astronauts, Distinguished Service Award winner, Adam MacGregor along with his side kick Tim Carver are called upon to seize and retrieve Ivan and bring it back to earth. Perhaps, they will even succeed in showing evidence that it contains a dead cosmonaut?

The Russians are apprised as to what is transpiring through information they obtained from a mole they have placed within the American space agency. All hell breaks loose and they accuse the Americans of piracy and imperialistic interference in the internal affairs of other nations.

All of this leads to some some extremely dangerous shenanigans between the Russians and the Americans. There is also the possibility that Russian astronauts have been left in hibernation-like states, known as suspended animation, as is sometimes depicted in science fiction films.

This is a gripping novel narrated with great verve, as its sweeps its readers into the world of space research and adventure.

As the pieces slowly fall into place, readers realize that there is much more to this novel than just recovering a lost Russian spaceship. Working several threads within the principal plot, Boyle provokes a great deal of thought and speculation pertaining to space research and “what if” scenarios. However, from time to time the excessive use of technical jargon, as well as the questionable relevance of some of the scenes, particularly between McGregor and the Russian astronaut Ylena, somewhat hinders the pace of the narrative.

Notwithstanding this shortcoming, the novel still leaves us sated, yet desiring more. It is a thriller that delivers a great deal of action, but perhaps, to those of us who are not very knowledgeable about space, little plausibility-nonetheless we love the suspense!

Should We Put Small Strakes and Vortex Flow Tabs on the Upper Wings of Stealth UAVs?

Up until now, most of the adversaries that the US military, and CIA have been flying their drones against do not have the anti-aircraft missiles needed to shoot them down. This is good for us, especially considering the tens of millions of dollars that these UAVs or unmanned aerial vehicles cost the US taxpayer. However, I would submit to you that in the future that will all change. Indeed, I have a number of reasons for believing this, and if you have a few moments I’d like to discuss with you.

First, after Libya’s Khadafy was taken out of power, thousands of shoulder fired anti-aircraft missiles came up missing. It is thought that some elements of Al Qaeda had purchased these, and that some made their way into sub-Saharan Africa. Other intelligence officials believe that these anti-aircraft missiles will later be used against soft targets such as airliners, and attack aircraft and helicopters in the Middle East.

It would not surprise me if the shoulder launched missiles were used near US UAV bases, as these aircraft take off or land while they are at a low altitude and susceptible to such missiles. Generally these missiles only have an altitude range of about three or 4000 feet. Further, in the future we will be using these UAVs against adversaries who have more advanced weaponry, and will be able to shoot down our UAVs, rogue nation-states such as Iran for instance. In fact, that Islamic Republic has already claimed in the global media to have shot down one of our UAVs.

This means in the future we will need stealthy unmanned aerial vehicles which cannot be seen by radar, and therefore cannot be targeted by radar guided, anti-aircraft missiles. Now then, because we will wish to keep these unmanned aerial vehicles hidden from radar, this limits us to the types of weapons we can put underneath the wings. It also means that the missiles will have to be within the body of the UAV, inside of bomb bays.

Now then, I propose that we use small strakes on top of the wings of these stealthy UAVs to increase the vortex flow therefore increasing the lift so they can carry more weaponry and increase the performance. By putting the strakes on top of the wings, they will not give away the aircraft to ground radar. Perhaps this is something that aerospace engineers along with military equipment analysts might wish to think about.

Of course, if our enemy also has aircraft in the air or UAVs, these extra strakes will provide a greater radar signature unfortunately. Therefore it is a trade-off, and the decision to use these aerodynamic techniques will need to be considered based on the type of adversaries we expect in the near future. Perhaps, we need these strakes in removable strips? Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

Q and A With Bestselling Novelist Barry Eisler: Why He Turned Down $500,000 to Self-Publish

If you haven’t heard of bestselling thriller novelist, Barry Eisler, it’s time you have. Former CIA operative and technology lawyer, Barry is now the bestselling author of the insanely popular John Rain series of thriller novels.

In this Q&A, Barry discusses his latest title, “The Detachment,” the writing life & the three reasons he turned down a $500,000 advance from a mainstream publisher, to self-publish.

SO MANY OF US HAVE BEEN EAGER FOR THE RELEASE OF “THE DETACHMENT.” CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT IT?

“The Detachment” marks the return of my half-Japanese, half-American assassin John Rain, who took a little time off to try to get his life together after the sixth book in the Rain series, “Requiem For An Assassin.”

His on-again, off-again romance with Mossad agent Delilah didn’t end happily (find out more in my short story, “Paris Is A Bitch”), and in The Detachment, he finds himself on the wrong side of an attempted American coup, up against rolling terror attacks, presidential hit teams, and a national security state as obsessed with guarding its own secrets as it is with invading the privacy of the populace.

WHAT ASPECTS OF “THE DETACHMENT” ARE YOU PROUDEST OF?

Well, it was a blast bringing together the two series universes I’ve created – that of the Rain books, and that of black ops soldier Ben Treven, who readers met in “Fault Line” and “Inside Out.” Putting together Rain, Dox, Treven and Larison, and forcing them to manage their alpha-male, lone-wolf instincts to survive the forces arrayed against them, was great.

But proudest? Probably the realism and timeliness of the backstory and the plot.

Since the end of the Cold War, there’s been much whether the thriller, at least the contemporary version, is still a viable form. Despite then Director of Central Intelligence James Woolsey’s admonition that “We have slain a mighty dragon, but now find ourselves in a jungle filled with snakes,” villains seemed scarce during the “peace dividend” years of the Clinton administration. Nine-eleven and the explosion of al Qaeda in the popular consciousness, of course, changed all that, and Islamic fundamentalism provided a new treasure trove of contemporary villains and plot lines.

For thriller writers interested in realism, though, the familiar “Islamic Terrorist Villain” plotline has a serious shortcoming: terrorism, of whatever stripe, poses far less danger to America than does America’s own overreaction to the fear of terrorism. To put it another way, America has a significantly greater capacity for national suicide than any non-state actor has for national murder. If thrillers are built on large-scale danger, therefore, and if a thriller novelist wants to convincingly portray the largest dangers possible, the novelist has to grapple not so much with the possibility of a terror attack, as with the reality of the massive, unaccountable national security state that has metastasized in response to that possibility.

This is of course a challenge, because unaccountable bureaucracies-what Hannah Arendt called “Rule by Nobody”-make for less obvious villains than do lone, bearded zealots seeking to destroy the Great Satan, etc., etc. The trick, I think, is to create an antagonist who is part of the ruling power structure but who also maintains an outsider’s perspective-who personifies and animates an entity that, destructive and oppressive though it is, is itself is too large and cumbersome to ever really be sentient. This is Colonel Horton, probably the most ambiguous villain I’ve ever created (and therefore probably the most compelling).

And thus, The Detachment: a small team of lone wolf, deniable irregulars, each with ambiguous motives and conflicting loyalties, pitted against the relentless, pervasive, grinding force of an American national security state gone mad. It’s real, it’s timely, and it’s built on an unnervingly possible premise, and I’m exceptionally proud of that.

WHEN WE SPOKE LAST, YOU SAID THAT IT TOOK YOU 4-5 MONTHS TO COMPLETE THE FIRST DRAFT OF A NOVEL. OVER THE YEARS, HAS YOUR DRAFTING PROCESSED CHANGED?

Not that much. Still about a month or two of thinking things through followed by about four months of feverish writing. All, alas, with lots of interruptions, but somehow it all gets done.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO FORGO THE $500,000 ADVANCE YOU WERE OFFERED TO INSTEAD STRIKE OUT ON YOUR OWN AND SELF-PUBLISH?

The first reason is the digital split. A legacy publisher offers authors 17.5% of the retail price of a digital title; a self-published author keeps 70%. That’s a lot of volume the legacy publisher has to move to make up for the deficit, and I decided that, over time, I could move enough on my own to come out ahead.

The second reason, though I supposed it’s really so separate from the first, is control over pricing and timing. The current business imperative of legacy publishing is to preserve the position of paper and retard the growth of digital.

Legacy publishers try to accomplish this objective by charging too much for paper books and by slaving the digital release to the paper. I believe my sweet spot per-unit price (the per-unit price that, multiplied by volume, results in maximum revenues) is around five dollars, and legacy publishers won’t price new digital titles that low (in fact, they went to war with Amazon over Amazon’s $9.99 price point, which they judged too low).

I also want to release the digital version as soon as it’s ready and the paper version afterward because a paper book takes longer to get to market (you have to glue it, ship it, etc), and legacy publishers insist on holding back the digital version until the paper version is ready. That costs me money, because until my books are available for sale, they don’t earn anything.

Anyway, in short, my second reason was that my philosophy on price and timing is antithetical to the price and timing philosophy of legacy publishers, and theirs to mine.

A third reason, by the way, was control over packaging decisions. I’ve lost too many sales to lazy, ill-conceived covers, and prefer to be in charge of such matters.

IN REGARDS TO SELF-PUBLISHING, WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL SEPARATE THE TRULY TALENTED AUTHORS WITH NOVELS THAT HAVE LEGITIMATE COMMERCIAL APPEAL FROM THE REST OF THE PACK?

Hard work and luck – same as always.

WHEN I SPOKE WITH YOU LAST, YOU DIDN’T ADHERE TO A WRITING SCHEDULE. STILL NO WRITING SCHEDULE?

Still trying to find one! So many interruptions. But I think digital will be good to me. I’ve written two short stories (“The Lost Coast” and “Paris Is A Bitch”) and they’re selling well, and the immediate gratification I get from writing a short story and making it available the very day it’s done is a huge incentive to avoid distractions.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT RESEARCHING, WRITING OR PROMOTING?

I write about politics and language at my syndicated blog, Heart of the Matter, and work out, and, when I’m very lucky, get to take a quiet walk at night.

And there’s nothing like a good book and a fine single-malt Scotch.

DESCRIBE YOUR WRITING ENVIRONMENT.

A quiet office, good light, Mac 24-inch monitor, and appallingly comfortable sweatpants and a tee-shirt. Ordinarily with green tea; as the deadline approaches, with a pot of coffee.

DESCRIBE A TYPICAL EVENING IN THE LIFE OF BARRY EISLER.

Hah. You’re looking at one right now.

A TYPICAL WEEKEND?

Not so different, alas. I work too much.

I JUST FINISHED JOHN LOCKE’S “HOW I SOLD A MILLION EBOOKS IN 5 MONTHS.” IT SEEMS AS THOUGH HE SPENDS A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF TIME ON SOCIAL MEDIA. ESPECIALLY ON TWITTER. IN YOUR EXPERIENCE, HOW IMPORTANT IS THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA FOR SELLING BOOKS & HOW DO YOU STOP YOURSELF FROM GOING OVERBOARD TIME-WISE? OR, DO YOU?

I’m not sure I do stop myself. Everyone has to answer this one for herself because the answer will depend on how much you like or dislike social media and what you’re trying to get out of it.

For commercial purposes, I think a strong online presence is important. I can see that just from how high my short story sales pop when I announce them on Facebook, Twitter, and my blog.

ANY OTHER WORDS OF ADVICE CONCERNING SOCIAL MEDIA?

The main thing is to use social media to build relationships, not to sell books. If you offer people value – entertainment, information – you’ll build relationships, and the sales will follow naturally. If you just try to sell, people will flee screaming in horror.

But I think digital self-publishing has shifted the value of an author’s time back to writing. I think the best marketing use of an author’s time lies in writing more stories. Not that social media and advertising aren’t useful; they certainly are. But nothing is as effective in selling a book as writing and publishing a new one.

HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?

Finding a way to get people to pay you to do what you would pay to do.

IS IT TOO EARLY FOR ME TO ASK WHAT FANS CAN EXPECT NEXT?

Next up is a Dox short story, a Delilah short story, and probably a Rain prequel novel. A lot to look forward to.
