Embossing Techniques For Your Scrapbook Ideas

Embossing is one of the many techniques you can use for your scrapbook ideas. It is a great way of making an image stand out.

Basic heat embossing – ink the stamp that you would like to emboss and press firmly onto your chosen piece of card or scrapbook paper. Sprinkle embossing powder over the stamped image removing any excess embossing powder by lightly tapping the paper or card. Then use a heat gun to melt the powder giving the image a raised effect.

Double embossing – ink your chosen rubber stamp, press onto card or paper and emboss as normal. Use pens, water pencils, chalks or any other craft supplies to color your image. Sponge or brush clear ink onto the colored areas of the image.

Pour clear embossing powder over the entire image and heat with a heat gun.

Over embossing – This technique is used to create a really glossy image.

As before, ink and rubber stamp an image of your choice. Use clear enamel embossing powder and heat from underneath either your scrapbook paper or card rather than from the top. Once the powder has completely melted repeat the process over and over until a smooth shiny surface appears.

Rainbow Embossing – Use a clear ink pad to ink your rubber stamp. Make sure you use ink that stays wet for quite some time as you will be using more than one colour of embossing powder. Rubber stamp your image and pour one colour over part of the image then shake off the excess and use another colour for the rest of the image. Heat with a heat gun for a rainbow effect.

Clear on clear embossing – This type of embossing looks best on darker pieces of card or scrapbook paper. Use a clear ink to rubber stamp your image and emboss with clear embossing powder. This will give you an image that is elegant and will catch your eye with out being too bold.

Embossing is not just used with rubber or clear stamps it can also be a great way of making the edges of a card look totally different. Using a dauber ink or a small ink pad dab ink all around the edge of a card and emboss as normal.

When embossing any handmade cards or scrapbook page layouts always ensure the surface is clean. One tip I have discovered is to wipe a small amount of baby powder over the scrapbook paper or card before you stamp your image and then add the embossing powder. Adding the baby powder ensures the embossing powder only sticks to the inked images and does not stick to the fibres of the card or paper.

You may find when heating your image the piece of card bends. Patience is the key here. Do not add the image to your scrapbook or card project straight away. Use a heavy book to flatten the image before adding it to your card or scrapbook page layout.

A Look At Summer Camps

Variety abounds when it comes to choices in summer camps, where people of all ages are welcome for a host of opportunities to engage in, and learn from others in a chosen field. Children are not the only ones who can benefit from spending time at a camp. Let’s take a look at some of the possibilities for fun, enjoyment, and learning in this type of group setting.

Day camps require daily transportation from home to the campgrounds, but the overnight facilities usually have an agenda which can last from 4 weeks on up. These are the ones which are considered best because there is no disruption from the established goal, and kids or adults can remain on the property, and make use of other features such as libraries and hands on tools and equipment.

Talent and technology have entered into this group setting by providing places where people from young ages on up can attend such specialties as art, photography, computer programming, creative writing, and learn how to create video games. The entire industry of film making and stage performing are also represented at these facilities. Actors, singers, dancers and supporting technicians can learn a lot about their chosen field through this tightly focused means of presentation.

Corporate camps are being used to send employees for extended stay focus of specifics that concern the company. HR personnel might have their own agenda, while tech support people would need more focus on technical equipment, and policies and procedures involved in keeping the customers satisfied. Corporate sales departments might need a place where new sales techniques can be taught and practiced.

Sport teams, and individual athletes, can attend camps which are designed to improve their performance, both on the field and off. Some specialties might include ice climbing, or rowing. EMS personnel could benefit from a facility which is constructed to provide a place that looks like a disaster zone. In these settings, the sense of real urgency is removed, while still providing a means of dealing with the removal of storm debris to find and save potential victims.

There are numerous religious beliefs throughout the world, and each of them have their own type of summer camps. In most cases, these are intended to allow specialized focus on certain aspects of their doctrine, and often include music, and other entertainment. People of all ages attend these, while there are some which have scheduled sessions where only the adults attend.

Some of these retreats are focused on helping people with special needs, such as physically handicapped, or with mental or emotional conditions. At these facilities there is a lower ratio of camper to staff member so that the person attending can achieve greater results from the curriculum. Some of these prepare people for entry into the Special Olympics.

Summer camps can offer a great opportunity to learn, and hone the skills of everyone who attends, while providing an environment to meet new people and network with others in the same area of expertise. People of all ages can benefit from attending the functions of their choice, and learn more about others and themselves.

Adult Narcissistic Abuse Survivors Defenseless Against Ignorant Judgment

Adult NPD Survivors Further Assaulted By Ignoramuses

When people hear that I have chosen to have no contact with my highly toxic, aged mother and father they always tell me how sorry they feel for my parents. I can only assume that in me they see a happy, well-adjusted adult woman and must decide that I have chosen to afflict some sort of maliciously intended punishment on my poor defenseless parents. They cannot possibly understand how violated I feel hearing them defend the very people who nearly destroyed my life; people who would continue to wreak havoc in it if I chose to allow it.

The judgment handed down by the clearly ignorant strikes a raw nerve and immediately puts me on the defensive. Cases of appalling abusive actions from my supposedly old, frail, innocent parents, some old some new, come spewing out of my mouth one after another in an attempt to justify my position. My breath is wasted. My stance is never validated. I always end up looking cold-blooded and hard-hearted when in truth I am anything but.

I am a strong, confident woman. I have learned to love myself despite all I have been through. Perhaps it is that air of confidence that causes some to side against me. It must be, because everything I stand for in my life demonstrates my compassionate, loving nature, yet all of that seemingly goes right out the window in the eyes of people who do not understand Narcissistic Personality Disorder abuse.

I know that I am not alone in this experience. Due to the covert nature of narcissistic abuse it is one of the perpetual tragedies many survivors of NPD parents endure. The victim is often seen as the perpetrator and the perpetrator seen as the victim. Even when we find the courage to stop the abuse we can never redeem ourselves in the minds of the judgmental ignoramus, professional or otherwise.

As NPD abuse survivors our healing must come entirely from our own courageous resolve. The Narcissistic Personality Disorder parent will never validate our feelings, verify our memories, or allow us our pain. Our friends, co-workers and acquaintances who cannot possibly understand what we go through often say the wrong thing, making us feel even worse. The only possibility of support is an alliance with siblings who have shared our experiences and have likewise abandoned their denial.

I am very fortunate. It took a few years but my sisters both embraced the truth. We are able to emotionally support each other and have formed an ironclad alliance against our toxic parents, but that is uncommon. More often than not, siblings side with parents who are adept at exploiting their victimization and rallying sympathizers around them, alienating their recovering brother or sister even further.

NPD survivors must have a solid support system to keep them from self-destruction. Rationality does not exist in dealings with those who have Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Rational minds cannot make sense of NPD irrational behavior, though that does not stop us from trying to rationalize the confusion we experience. It is that effort that makes us feel as if we are the crazy ones.

It takes a great deal of validation to convince us that we are not crazy. That is why I strongly recommend survivors work with a professional therapist, psychologist or counselor who is highly skilled in working with Narcissistic Personality Disorder abuse until they feel strong and confident enough to stand on their own-however long that takes. That is the formula for success in completely overcoming the pain-for confidently moving forward in our lives.

There will always be issues throughout our lives that challenge us as NPD abuse survivors. Though I counsel other survivors and extensively write, speak and am highly knowledgeable about Narcissistic Personality Disorder, I am not immune to its ugly assaults. However, as a result of the work I have done I am confidant and skilled enough to get through them. The more healing work we do, the stronger we get and the easier those challenges are to deal with.

You have survived one of the most insidious forms of child abuse. Though often invisible, the abuse was real, your pain is real. But never choose to be a victim of your past. Reclaim your power. Start today.

Guide to a Wedding Car Hire

An elegant wedding car makes it possible to create a stylish and sophisticated entrance to and from your wedding venue. Beyond the great look of the wedding car, they are also appreciated for offering a convenient form of transportation that will make sure you arrive at the venue on time. Let’s take a look at the main things involved in organising the perfect transportation:

Make the right choice

The actual process of choosing your wedding car can be quite daunting because there are many different things that need to be carefully considered.

Theme – Firstly, the chosen vehicle should be able to match the theme of the wedding to make sure it doesn’t look out-of-place. The preferred car model can include the modern, modern classic, classic and vintage. Every car will have its charm, but it is still important to base your decision on the all-round theme of the wedding. Also, it is necessary to consider the colour of the vehicle, as well as the decorations, such as the flowers and ribbons.

Size – the preferred size of the wedding car will relate to factors like the number of passengers and the type of bridal dress. It the bride is wearing a big or long dress, it is essential to make sure there is enough interior space. Additionally, it is worth considering the comfort level, especially if travelling for the longer distance.

Maintenance – make sure to only use a service that regularly maintains and services their fleet of vehicles. This will help to avoid the disappointment of a breakdown on the way to the wedding venue.

Budget – the cost of booking the chosen car will depend on a variety of factors. The cost is influenced by factors like the type and class, time of year, and extra packages ordered. Also, the overall distance to reach the wedding venue and reception will have an impact on the total cost.

How to book?

The process of booking your wedding car isn’t something that can be left until the last-minute because there are many things that need your attention.

Cars available – any decent company will have a decent size fleet of vehicles to choose from. It can help to see the various cars in person to avoid any disappointment at a later date. Also, if you do make the arrangements in person, this may make to easier to specify your needs to make sure you are getting what you really want.

Early booking – ideally, the wedding car should be booked as early as possible. For the busy summer period, the can be as early as six months before the date of the wedding. Also, the early booking is important when looking to book the vintage car because there is a limited supply of these vehicles. There is likely to be more flexibility if you intend to book a standard limousine, Mercedes or town car.

Weather – the chosen car should match the expected weather for the time of the year. While it can be tempting to book a convertible there is the risk of unexpected showers on the day, or gusty winds that will ruin the bride’s hairstyle. A soft-top convertible can make a practical compromise to minimize the potential issues.

Overall, it is essential to use a company that is well established, very reliable and offers the affordable prices. If you take the time to do your due diligence on the available options, you shouldn’t have too much difficulty finding a wedding car that matches the specific needs.

Website Traffic Avalanche – The Place Of Keyword Focused Pages

If you want to build massive traffic from the search engines, you’ll do well to make sure your pages are keyword focused.

Yes, you have chosen the perfect domain name, you have chosen a niche you’re passionate about, you have researched your niche well — Boy, do you know all the great key phrases to use?

Now, you can mess that whole work if you build your pages without laser focusing on a primary keyword.

Some folks still have too many keywords in their meta tag. That is wrong. You should make sure each page is related to your site’s main theme but totally focused on a particular keyword.

You must have a primary keyword per page and not more than two other closely related supporting keywords. Believe me, you’ll do a lot better that way than if you have too many keywords.

While writing, make sure your page addresses the needs raised by such a keyword.

If your page’s primary keyword is “ipod car kits” make sure you address the issue. Don’t talk about ipod home accessories. Those who searched with that phrase need information on ipod car kits.

And don’t just give average information on your keyword. Strive to give your very best. If you can, make yours the best page on the subject matter. Yes, quality does count so much.

If you do this well, you’ll discover that your site will deliver what makes any site do well on the long run: Great visitor experience with the consequent avalanche of website traffic.

The Tattoo Encyclopedia – Terisa Green

I chose to review this book from my collection first, in relation to the other articles published and purely because it is a fantastic book to begin learning about the vast array of tattoo imagery that plasters tattoo studios. For those that opt for a ‘flash’ design (i.e. a design that has already been drawn, printed, laminated, sold and displayed for tattooists to use as a means of a ready, ‘instant’ design that does not necessarily need altering) – this book is a useful tool in helping to choose a design, and even giving a small amount of information about the history, relation and common reason for choosing the particular image etc.

The book has been well laid out, in a handy A-Z format, also cross-referenced, indexed, and illustrated with three hundred examples of tattoo line art. Although the images themselves are not particularly useful towards ‘solid’ images to be picked for an actual tattoo, either for the consumer or tattooist – they are subtle enough to get a general idea of the design they are representing. And with the added bonus of being able to study this in your own home, it can even help some to feel more confident when they walk into their chosen tattoo studio – having more knowledge and a better idea about the tattoo they are about to choose from the wall.

The Tattoo Encyclopedia is an extremely good reference book – even for looking up information on a tattoo you may already have chosen to live with, but weren’t necessarily fully educated on its true meaning and historical links and values. The included examples of tattoo imagery range from the anchors sported by sailors, to the Harley-Davidson tattoos inked on bikers, right up to the tigers that so many people choose to have as their permanent body art. It also includes a welcome range of religious-themed tattoos, which many people do not seem to research properly before choosing as a new piece of ink – including Chinese, Buddhist, Christian and also some tribal and pagan examples.

I bought this book approximately three years ago, purely as a way of helping people to realize what their particular chosen tattoo represents and its links. I was also looking for more material that included some tattoo history write-ups – a ‘very brief history of tattooing’ is included in this encyclopedia, followed by a small amount on symbolism, which both served well towards my own studies, reports and papers. There is also a small section on ‘how to use this book’ – with a small ‘disclaimer’ that I just have to agree with 100% – “It is important to note that the nature of a tattoo symbol is sometimes so personal that the only definitive interpretation can come from the bearer of the tattoo. No matter the established meaning in one culture, the obvious meaning derived from a historical fact, or the original source of a particular image, people will and do ascribe their own meanings to their designs.” Which urges you to remember not to take this book as ‘gospel’, to still withhold your own intended meaning and interpretation of your tattoo, but simply to gain a little more knowledge about your design from this book, and use this knowledge as you so wish. Disregard it, argue against it, completely trash it, or take it as it is; a little piece of information that you may not have known or even considered before.

Either way, this book is still worth having, even if just for the coffee-table or as a good conversation starter. Terisa Green writes in a very easy-to-read manner, informative and educational but not too formal. A pleasing read all-round.

Dwarf Hamster Breeding – Playing the Matchmaker

So you’ve chosen your lucky couple. You’ve followed all the guidelines. The mother and father are at a healthy mating age, you’ve researched the family history, and you’ve laid out all the other preliminary groundwork for dwarf hamster breeding. So now that you’ve chosen the perfect couple, the perfect parents to be of a new litter of baby hamsters, what’s next?

The next step is introducing them. When you do this, you need to be careful how you go about things. Dwarf hamsters, the darling little things they are, do have some territorial issues. And when you’re breeding them, you’re going to need to respect them (even if you don’t understand them!). Also, if you’ve been keeping the boys and girls separated it will be their first meeting (yes, a blind date!) and we all know what blind dates do to our nerves.

When choreographing the meeting, you can take the female and place her in the male’s cage. Or you can place the couple together on some neutral territory. But don’t place the male in the female’s cage. If things go smoothly, your couple will take it from there. They’ll sniff each other and the entire mating dance will take some time. You’ll notice (if you must watch!) the female freezes in a distinctive position with her tail in the air.

Unfortunately dwarf hamster breeding doesn’t always go smoothly. If the male hamster hasn’t mated before, he may get a little confused at this point. They won’t know exactly what side to approach their potential mate from. The male will figure it out, even if his first several attempts fail and frustrate the waiting female. Curiously, a “virgin” female is much less tolerant of a “virgin” male than a female who has mated prior to this. If the female is not receptive, then one of the two hamsters should be removed from the cage. And you’ll know if the female isn’t receptive, because they’ll probably end up in a serious scuffle. If things don’t go well at first, the female was probably just not be in the mood and with the proper follow up techniques you’ll still have a dwarf hamster family in no time.

Matchmaking may be an important step in dwarf hamster breeding, but it is just the beginning. After mating you still have a few roles to play including marriage counselor and maybe even divorce attorney.

How to Prepare Your Home For Replacement Windows

If you are reading this article, chances are you’ve made the decision to have your windows replaced, or you are at least considering it. Good decision! Your home will look great and feel comfortable with your new windows installed, and you’ll even save money on your energy bills if you’ve chosen to replace your old windows with energy efficient models. Here are some tips to make sure the installation process goes smoothly.

Clear the windows. Take down all curtains, blinds, and any other window treatments, and check your yard for any plants or bushes that may need to be trimmed away from the windows. The replacement crew will need about two feet of space in front of each window, so go ahead and prepare this area for them. This will reduce the amount of time it takes the workers to install your windows, which will also save you money if you are being charged by the hour.

Call off security. Remove any security sensors from the windows, and turn off your security system. Contact your security company to inform them that you are installing new windows and will need them to reconnect the alarms once the windows are installed.

Clear a path. Make sure that the workers have a clear path from their truck to the windows and enough space by the windows to bring in their equipment. Anything that might get in their way should be moved aside, whether it is as large as a sofa or as small as a rug. Also, if you have any pets, make sure they are secured while the workers are present.

Cover up. A good replacement window company will clean up a worksite after the installation, but it doesn’t hurt to take some precautions just in case. After all, old window sashes are often very dirty. Cover up your furniture, and ask the workers to bring a tarp or drop cloth to protect the floor.

If you have done your homework and chosen a good replacement window company, these tips should help the installation go off without a hitch. Enjoy your new windows!
