Pole Dancing for Hen Parties and Exercise

Many people might think at first that pole dancing is an activity reserved for strip joints or gentlemen’s clubs. However, as with many female activities, its primary function is not to entertain men. Belly dancing, for instance, began as a celebration of the feminine and was not meant as male entertainment. Over time, it turned into something it was never intended to be.

Pole dancing is something like that. A pole that’s set up from ceiling to floor balances the woman’s body as she performs movements around it. Yes, it is definitely sensuous, but it does not have to be overtly sexual. It shows a woman that it’s wonderful to appreciate her own body and how it works. It honors and celebrates feminine energy. With strong music playing, the woman is encouraged to find the rhythm of the music as well as her own rhythms. She’s invited to be bold and proud, rather than shy and reticent. Sure, this can help her relationship with a man, but it’s primarily intended to help her relationship with herself and to feel pride in her femininity.

Given that, pole dancing makes a great activity for a hen party when women come together for a shower or just to have a girls’ night out. Women can have a great time egging each other on and losing inhibitions. Drinks can help that, but the beauty of pole dancing is that you don’t have to have alcohol to shed the inhibitions that keep women repressed.

Pole dancing is great exercise, too, even if a woman chooses to practice alone. Arm muscles get more defined as she moves in and out from the pole in time to the music. Balance is enhanced. As the woman gets more adept, she finds herself twisting, turning, balancing, and even hanging upside down on the pole, using it for support.

Women who are tired of the same old aerobic or spinning classes might want to open themselves up to this type of exercise. There will be no boredom doing this routine, so they’ll want to get to the gym or studio. It will stretch the muscles, building strength and coordination in ways that other exercises can’t. And, as a byproduct, it just might help a relationship, too.
