Fear Is Not Always Your Friend

Fear has evolved to serve as a device to help protect our survival. The fight or flight theory is to protect us. In adults this mode of protection can become hypersensitive and turn to inhibiting and self-defeating actions. Most people do not have to run away from the tiger hanging outside their front door. But sometimes they need to move to a different work environment and they are afraid to take that first step because of the question. What if?

What do you fear?

I have figured out for me that fear is often the absence of knowledge. The moment you learn information, usually that fear dissipates. There was never anything hiding under your bed when the lights were turned on.

I have been exploring what I fear in life: past, present and future. Creating a list of fears and then going back and exploring each to figure out where those fears originated. I was taught as a child to be afraid of things that were not like me, things that were different. Not that they were necessarily bad but that I needed to mind my own business. I grew up in Indiana so there is not much diversity and fear was placed on all things that were different from us.

When I moved to Chicago this fear followed me. I was afraid of the city. It was big, busy and filled with many different types of people.

But something changed and the fear began to intrigue me and I wanted to learn more and experience everything that I could.

I have learned that the type of fear that was taught to me as a child does not serve me anymore. I no longer have to live my life in fear of the unknown. I do not want to be surrounded by individuals who limit their greatness because of their own insecurities. The ones that subscribe to the philosophy that it’s a big scary world out there… and you should be afraid.

I understand that there are many levels of fear. But why go through life with the fear of the unknown.

My art has challenged me greatly because to create can be scary. In order to create you have to be able and willing to give up control. Walking head high and boldly into what you fear most. This is how you find that tiny little kernel that will allow your art to have a creative soul.

What do you fear?

Why?

I know since I have placed a huge mirror in your hands the time has come that you want to point the reflection back at me. You are wondering what I am most afraid of… I personally have so many things that I want to do with my life. The list seems to go on and on. My greatest fear is that there will not be enough time for me to accomplish all that I want achieve.

As we are facing global economic crisis now, more people are jobless. The biggest hit was in America where several years ago they announced that some kind of Wall Street or Lehman Brothers thing declared bankruptcy, which affects lots of business. Not only America was affected, but also other business firms around the world. Huge companies in America are forced to close down or lay off their employees. Why Kiteboarders Need to Start Thinking Like Athletes

To be a healthy and progressing kiteboarder, you have to think and train like an athlete. You can’t just show up to kiteboard on Sunday morning when the wind is blowing and hope to stay out all day and injury free. Or be able to fully enjoy your kiteboarding vacation. When we are learning to kiteboard on a kiteboarding holiday or already know how to kitesurf, most of us would like to be able to squeeze every last minute out of the wind. But all too often I see people on the beach during their kitesurfing holiday with the look in their eye of wanting to kiteboard more, but they are physically too tired. For this reason, it is important to incorporate some other physical exercise and strength training into your lifestyle to increase your kitesurfing endurance. The goal of this article is not to turn you into athletic machines and to take the fun out of the sport, but to increase your time on the water and reduce the chance of injuries.

As stated, there are several reasons why you want to start training as a kitesurfing athlete. The main reason is that you can increase the amount of time you are on the water riding. No longer will you have to go back to the beach and recover after only one hour of kiteboarding during or after your kiteboarding holiday. Imagine being the envy of your friends because you stayed out for the full 5 hours of wind that blew that day in your local spot. In addition, throughout the day the crowds usually ebb and flow, so now you can have that whole flat section or set of waves to yourself. No more sitting on the beach watching that perfect set because you were too tired.

The other reason you want to increase your level of fitness is to reduce injuries while kiteboarding. As we continue to push ourselves to develop, we go for bigger air, more twists and riskier moves. But the higher we progress up the trick ladder, the bigger the strain we put on our bodies. There is no greater chance of getting injured as going into a trick than when your legs and arms are tired; you will have reduced control thought out the trick and a lesser chance of landing correctly. Though kite equipment has gotten much safer over the years, you still need to have a solid level of fitness as a kitesurfer to pull off tricks.

Yes it is blunt, but if you reduce your body weight, not only will you be more agile, but you will also be able to ride in lighter wind. Quit spending more money on larger kites and the latest and greatest lightweight boards; loose some pounds and save money. And think of all that extra money for your kiteboarding holiday.

Thus if you are serious about your kiting and want to keep improving, I suggest two things. Start an endurance sport and start some strength training. The sport could be something like swimming, cycling, running, rowing, aerobics or anything along those lines. The strength training could be a simple whole body routine. There is no need to go join a gym and all that hoopla.

A simple and highly effective routine that I suggest is this: Three or four days a week go for a 20-30 minute jog. Upon finishing take a few minute break and then do some basic strength training. This can include push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups and basic lunges to build some leg strength. The key to all of this is to start easy and gradually build up your pace and number of strength exercises over time. If you rush things, you run the risk of injury. Take it slow is the key.

And last but not least, to stay on the water for your target amount of time, you have to have stay to train to stay on the water kiteboarding for that long. Each week during your riding sessions, try adding 10 to 15 minutes to your session. Gradually you will build up your endurance.

The Kite Life wishes you happy kiting during your weekend or kitesurfing holidays…

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Bitumen Roof Shingles

Bitumen roof shingles are growing in popularity for use on sheds, summerhouses, log cabins and other garden buildings, but what are the advantages and disadvantages of using them?

The Advantages

1. Roof Shingles are Good Looking

Bitumen felt roofing tiles are the George Clooney of roof coverings. They come in a variety of different shapes and colours so you can pick which you prefer. Square tab shingles are the time honoured favourites but other designs such as hexagonal and beaver tail are now catching up quick. The same goes for colours. You can’t go wrong with good old black or green but newer, more earthy tones, are becoming more popular. We have been selling a lot of greys, browns and reds.

2. Roofing Shingles are Quick and Easy to Install

Once you understand the principles of fixing them you should have your building covered and watertight in no time at all. It is a good idea to lay the shingle strips out on the floor first to check you have the pattern right before fixing them down. Some shingle strips have a bitumen layer on the back which heats up in the sun to create an extra protective layer, some just have small dabs of asphalt. Either way, the strips need to be fixed down with large headed clout nails. Roofing is easier and quicker with two workers.

3. Shingles for Roofing are Thicker and Longer Lasting.

Felt roof shingles are 3mm thick and are made from a fibre glass core which is coated in high quality bitumen then covered on top with stone. They are fitted in such as way as they overlap each other to create the required pattern so at most points on your building you will actually have a 6mm covering. They are malleable so you can fit them easily but they will not rip easily like cheap shed felt. Their quality means they are more durable and will last a lot longer than shed felt which has a life expectancy of just 3-5 years.

4. Felt Roofing Tiles are Highly Resistant to Wind

The IKO roofing shingles we supply have been thoroughly tested In wind tunnels to ensure they are quality products. The storms that we have in the UK are nothing for them with movement only occurring in hurricane force winds. If you live in an exposed area then they are definitely a good choice for you.

The Disadvantages

1. Cost

Roof shingles initially cost slightly more than a traditional shed felt. Having said that, when you think about how long they last for and the quality you are getting, over time you can see your purchase as an investment. You will reap the rewards of this investment in the long run.

2. Speed To Fix

Although shingles can be fixed relatively quickly and easily they are not quite as fast to work with as shed felt. Depending on the size of the building you may need to allocate a good proportion on the day for the task instead of the hour or so it might take with felt. Roof shingles are however a lot quicker and easier to work with than some other roofing materials such as slates or cedar wood shingles. We think they are worth a little extra effort.

In summary the advantages of using roof shingles certainly outweigh the disadvantages and the disadvantages are hardly worth mentioning.

Heal Both Yourself and the Earth

Our own health and our earth’s health are connected. By limiting your exposure to toxins, you’ll also be helping to save the environment. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported that we’re all contaminated by a stew of pesticides, solvents, plastics and metals. There are many ways a person can limit their exposure to toxins and protect the earth at the same time….

Eating organic, locally-grown food will reduce your exposure to pesticides and provide you with more nutrients in your fruits and vegetables (50 to 60% more antioxidants according to several research studies). While you’re saving your body from having to detox from toxic pesticides and unhealthy additives in your food, you’ll also be eliminating the fuel spent on transporting fruits and vegetables and the waste of extra packaging. You’ll be supporting sustainable agriculture on your area and closing your wallet to corporate growers who poison the groundwater, wildlife and everyone downwind of pesticide spraying.

What you put on your body is as important as what you put in it, so opt for natural, fragrance-free personal care products. 95% of the chemicals used to make products “fragrant” are derived from scarce petroleum and are neurotoxins and endocrine disrupters. Fewer synthetic chemicals in your products equals fewer synthetic chemicals that can end up in our ecosystems.

The use of chemicals to clean your home or workplace can be a source of indoor air pollution that is worse than any we experience outside. The commercial cleaners under the sink often contain concoctions of chemicals, many of which are toxic to our bodies and then to the environment once they’ve gone down the drain. Almost all of them have added synthetic fragrances or chlorine (which forms dangerous compounds that store in fat cells and breast tissue).

For instance, your dish and laundry cleaners are often detergents, not soaps, and are derived from petroleum, are non-biodegradable, and contain phosphates that pollute our groundwater and ocean. A safer choice are those non-toxic cleaning standbys of your grandmother such as vinegar, baking soda, Borax and Bon Ami, or the latest chemical-free alternatives, like the Seventh Generation brand.

When doing your laundry, be aware that dryer sheets contain chloroform, camphor, ethylacetate and other hazardous ingredients. Instead, add a little baking soda to your wash water to soften and deodorize your clothes. Want a fresher-smelling bathroom, kitchen or car? Commercial air “fresheners” actually add to indoor air pollution, coating nasal passages with nerve-deadening agents and impairing our sense of smell. It makes more sense to open a window or turn on the fan, put out tropical flowers with a natural scent or a bowl of baking soda or vinegar to absorb nasty smells.

If you’re remodeling at home or work, avoid the fumes of volatile organic chemicals (VOC’s) as they are toxic and flammable. Luckily, many stores now carry low-VOC paint and other remodeling materials that will cause fewer headaches, dizzy spells and respiratory problems for your family or business associates and fewer chemicals damaging the environment.

Here’s to a healthier New Year for our bodies and our planet.

How to Grow Cucumbers of Different Varieties and How to Plant Cucumbers Successfully

Many people are noting that it is rather straightforward to grow cucumbers. This is especially when you see them as climbing vines. Before one can learn how to plant cucumbers, more information about them is necessary in order to ensure successful growth.

Cucumbers are members of the cucurbitaceae family like squashes and melons. There are slicing varieties and pickling varieties. The slicing varieties can be eaten fresh and they can grow to around 35 centimeters while the pickling varieties are often pickled and they can grow to about 10 centimeters long. They are especially adored for the beneficial nutrients they can give to our nails, hair and skin. It is the Burpless variety that is known for their good flavor and easy to digest properties.

When preparing to grow cucumbers, you need to dig fair amounts of organic compost in the soil. It should be about the depth of a spade.

You can plant cucumbers indoors. You do this by sowing them in biodegradable seedling pots. This ensures undamaged roots. You can only plant them prior to the last frost.

Make sure there’s a gap of about 40 centimeters between the seedlings. If you choose to grow from seed, group sowing is recommendable. You can sow three seeds in a single hole as this can increase chances of germination. The seeds should also be planted about 2.5 centimeters deep.

To successfully grow cucumbers, the location is very important. They need good amounts of warmth and sunshine everyday. This is why greenhouses are favored for cucumbers. Make sure also that there are adequate spaces between each cucumber as they can rapidly grow to around 6 feet. If space is limited, you can also train the plant to grow against a stake, wall or trellis.

Soil variety, of course, is also vital. A well-drained soil is what cucumbers need. You can also plant them in raised beds that are around 6 inches high. They also thrive in sandy loam soils. You just need to ensure that the soil contains good amounts of organic matter as manure can guarantee nutrients for the plants.

When tending to your cucumbers, you need to regularly weed them. Just make sure you don’t go below s few centimeters because there’s a risk that you’ll damage the root system. This can damage the growth of the plant.

You need to water the cucumbers every week if you want them to grow firm and juicy. Matter of fact, cucumbers are known to have very high water content.

Cucumber plants possess both female and male flowers. Amongst the two, the female flowers are the ones that produce cucumbers. You can also aid in the pollination process to increase fruit count. You can use a cotton bud in transferring pollen from male flowers to the center of you female flowers. You can distinguish the females from the males as they feature tiny cucumbers by the base.

Cucumbers are harvestable already when they reach a suitable size. The usual timeframe is 50 to 60 days subsequent to planting. You’ll notice their skin turning dark green. Once hey turn yellow, they’re already over ripe.

Take out the cucumbers by twisting them off the plant. Another option is to cut the stalks over the cucumber tips.

Ayurveda’s Longevity Secrets

Eternal youth is a subject that has intrigued mankind through the ages.

Nowadays scientists seek ways of achieving eternal youth by studying ageing. The processes that accompany, or cause, ageing are called the “markers of ageing”.

Here are some important markers:

  • Oxidative Stress – Toxins, radiation, stress and even the body’s metabolism create free radicals, which break down other molecules. Normally, the body mops up the free radicals and balance is kept. But when the body is unable to cope, oxidative stress spreads like wildfire, causing rapid ageing – like a cut apple turning brown and wrinkled.
  • Inflammation – Normally involves pain, redness, swelling and heat as the body attempts to repair damage and eliminate invaders. As we age, there is increased tendency for the body to overreact, going into inflammatory overdrive, and causing diseases like atherosclerosis, arthritis, allergies and auto-inflammation – when the body turns on itself.
  • Cell proliferation – Cells are programmed to live under certain rules, and then die when their time is up. When cells break the rules, refuse to die, and instead start dividing into more rogue cells this can be dangerous. Normally the body recognises rogue cells and destroys them. However, as we age, our immune system becomes compromised, and these rogue cells can become cancer.
  • Reduced stress adaptation – Age is characterised by reduced ability to deal with stress and its consequences – high blood pressure and blood sugar, weakened digestion, compromised immunity, reduced sexual performance.

Finding the solution

Mankind has studied the problem of ageing for thousands of years. Ayurvedic medicine from India was devoted to keeping people healthy so they could live a full term of 100 years or more. And a whole branch of Ayurveda dealt with Rasayana – the science of longevity.

Longevity herbs

The writers of the first Ayurvedic textbooks extolled the youth-preserving virtues of a number of herbs with interesting names such as haritaki, amalaki, guduchi, ashvagandha, shatavari, pippali, shilajit. Recipes were given to make jams, wines, tablets and other life-promoting preparations which are still in use today.

Modern research on rasayana herbs has brought fascinating results – all these herbs have a combination of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and anti-stress properties! They reverse the markers of ageing!

Ayurveda recommends rasayana herbs for couples planning conception, for pregnant mothers, for newborn babies, children and adults – and for those in their mature years. Ayurvedic practitioners can tailor a lifetime rasayana programme to suit your age, body type, genetic weaknesses, and health history.

Panchakarma

However, for these herbs to work optimally, it was considered that the body must be cleansed of toxins. Just as it is hopeless to replace a car’s oil without ensuring a clean oil filter, the body’s cells cannot effectively absorb rejuvenative herbs without first eliminating clogging wastes and toxins.

Panchakarma is ayurveda’s powerful method of detoxifying the body – even (research has found) environmental toxins lodged in the fatty tissues for dozens of years. A panchakarma treatment is traditionally recommended twice a year, at the change of seasons. This is followed by a rasayana programme of rejuvenative herbs and nourishing diet.

Diet

Ayurveda recommends a diet that is easily digestible yet nourishing. Most foods are cooked to increase digestibility, so raw foods form only a minor part of a healthy diet. Spices are used to improve digestibility.

How you eat is even more important than what you eat! According to Ayurveda, relaxation during meals is essential for proper digestion, and for proper tissue formation.

A range of good quality fats is needed for health, especially to reduce excessive inflammation. Not only do we need omega-3 oils to balance the omega-6, but we need saturated fats as well. Every traditional society has used saturated fats, even in India – ghee (clarified butter) in the North, and coconut oil in the South.

Eat foods that are high in antioxidants, such as colourful vegetables and fruits. Use spices like ginger, turmeric, cloves, cinnamon and tamarind. Clove oil is one of the most powerful antioxidants known. Prunes, raisins, pomegranates and the berries are rich in antioxidant agents.

Ayurvedic diet advice does not make rules or contradict modern nutritional advice; a qualified practitioner will help you integrate the knowledge to suit your personal constitution and needs.

Lifestyle

Manage your stress to avoid the damage it can cause through free radical formation, poor digestion and a weakened immune system. Learn and use relaxation tools daily, such as yogic breathing.

Breathing and relaxation help the body to attain states in which it can repair and balance itself. They also increase the prana, or organising life force – and this increases energy and the body’s ability to handle stress.

Harnessing the mind

Avoid anger, anxiety, jealousy, envy and other negative emotions and thoughts. Every negative thought triggers a cascade of stress chemicals in the body, resulting in physical damage. Cultivate self-awareness, and shift to more positive thoughts and emotions if you want to stay young.

Ayurveda says that illness is often caused by “faulty intellect” – muddled thinking in which we make unhealthy diet and lifestyle choices. Controlling stressful thoughts brings clarity of mind, in which we make intuitive choices that are appropriate for health.

Traditional Yoga can provide you with a systematic way to manage stress and achieve greater mental clarity and self-awareness.

Physical activity without stress

Moderate physical activity such as Yoga keeps the body functioning well, strengthening the immune system and the body’s adaptability to stress. However, excessive exercise increases free radical formation and degenerative disorders. Ayurveda recommends exercising to slightly increased breathing and a slight sweat.

Act young to stay young

Maintain a youthful attitude. What do children and youths do most of the time? They play!

Find ways to become playful and childlike, and this will entrain the body to remain youthful too. Studies have found that people who feel young have a lower biological age than people who feel old – even though they are of the same chronological age.

Realigning with natural rhythms

Finally, take time to realign yourself with nature. Being in nature has a way of reminding us of the flow of life, of the perpetual cycle of growth. When we feel once again part of the natural cycles of growth, we relax and allow our body to function at its best, and to mature gracefully in its own natural time.

So is longevity for real?

The real meaning of “longevity” is the optimum functioning of the tissues and the processes of life – throughout our lifetime. The sciences of Ayurveda and Yoga offer possibly the most comprehensive system of optimising health and slowing aging. I believe this offers tremendous potential for human quality of life, and deserves further investigation and research.

There is no single “one-size-fits-all” solution. Ayurveda recognises that everyone has unique needs; and therefore building a relationship with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner is the suggested way if you are serious about excellent health and longevity.

How to Build a Chicken Coop – 6 Crucial Elements on Building a Chicken House

When building a chicken coop, it is suggested that you follow the guidelines below for a successful endeavor.

Element #1. – Appearance and Design:

Sketch out your design on a sheet of paper before you do anything else. Think of the colors you will paint the roof and chicken coop walls. Always keep in mind that if your chicken coop is clearly visible to your neighbors, (unless you live in a farm it will most likely be visible to your entire neighborhood,) it shouldn’t ever serve as a distraction or defacement of its utmost surroundings. So make sure to design an aesthetically looking chicken coop so that your neighbors do not complain of its detracting appearance. Once finished, always remember to remove and dispose of any types of garbage or weeds from around your chicken coop. Try to maintain an appealing landscape around it to enhance its overall appearance.

Element #2. – Using Sound Judgment:

When designing your chicken coop structure, you must use sound judgment in almost every aspect of the way.

For instance, you want to use building materials in which the cleaning and disinfecting procedures will be quick and easy. The doors you install should open inwards, not outwards. You don’t want your chickens roosting on your windows, so it is best to install sliding windows.

A question many people ask is how to build a chicken coop who’s floors are easy to hose and spray down without much puddling? Well the secret to that is to slightly slope the flooring toward the door. This way, when you spray out the chicken coop, the water will flow out, hence solving your puddling problem.

Element # 3. – Protection from Hazardous Elements:

So you want to learn how to build a chicken coop with maximum protection?

Then listen up.

As you may know, a well built chicken coop will protect your chickens from hazardous elements such as bad weather (heavy rain, wind, hale, snow, cold climates, etc,) but they will also protect them from hungry predators, theft and injury.

So how do we accomplish that?

Easy. You want to build a draft free chicken house with windows and doors that can be opened and closed as needed. Make sure the windows and doors both have proper screening systems installed in them such as a heavy gage mesh wire. Building the chicken coop on a high yet well drained area with ensure the least amount of dampness of the coop. Be sure to build your chicken coop in an area that faces the sun which will help warm and dry the soil and coop itself after it rains.

To protect your chickens from predators, the best thing to do is to bury your outside runs with chicken wire all around the coop about 1 foot deep. This will prevent some very hungry predators such as raccoons, cats and even dogs from digging underneath it.

Strategy # 4. – Coop Ventilation:

You may be wondering how to build a chicken coop that will not only keep your chickens locked up and protected from bad weather and predators yet receive the proper ventilation it requires. If so, then you already understand the importance of draft free air movement from within the coop. Chickens, much like humans, need fresh air and oxygen. The same goes for the removal of unwanted excessive moisture and carbon dioxide. A chicken coop with ample air movement and proper ventilation will help remove the ammonia build up and dampness that may grow inside its walls.

Speaking of walls, the chicken coop walls should have proper insulation installed which will help keep the chickens dry. As long as chickens are dry, they can handle cold climates very well, but humidity plus cold weather will cause health issues for your poultry. Therefore, insulated walls are a must!

Strategy # 5. – Light Source:

If you want a good source of light and warmth for your chickens during the cold months of the year and a solid source of ventilation during the hot months, then be sure to install the chicken coop windows facing the southside where they will receive direct sunlight throughout the day.

On another note, if your goal is to raise chickens that will produce great eggs all year round, then you should look into an electrical source of light. You should be able to easily install an electrical light at the height of the chicken coop’s ceiling which will help keep your chickens warm and help them lay better chicken eggs throughout the year. One ceiling light should be enough for a small scale chicken coop, for larger chicken coops though, try to install one electrical ceiling light per every 30 – 40 feet.

Strategy # 6. – Conveniently placed Wateres and Chicken Feeders:

Chicken feeders and waterers should be placed where your flock will have easy access to them. However, you have to becareful where you place them because chickens like to make a mess of everything they eat due to their chicken scratching instincts. I’m sure you don’t want to see your chicken feed mix all over the coop floors so, to avoid this, place the chicken feeders at the height of the chicken’s back. This way they will have to stretch their necks up to eat but won’t reach the feeders with their feet. Same goes for the waterers. Just make sure to keep the waterers full of fresh clean water throughout the day.

There you have it folks. 6 quick and easy strategies that will show you how to build a chicken coop fast and efficiently. Whether you’re building a large scale chicken coop or a small one, these tips should get you moving in the right direction.

Folks, did you know that the average american spends about $300 to build a chicken coop? Strategies To Find Job Search Success in the New Economy

I read in the news that Apple announced it has sold over five million of its new iPhone 5, just three days after its launch and to sweeten Apple’s products demand, more than 100 million of Apple’s latest operating systems devices have been updated.

Apple’s success is an important indication that the Internet has taken over the new economy. The latest trend of using social media to find job has moved to a dynamic speed. Savvy job seekers knows that they cannot solely rely on traditional means in looking for jobs.

Traditional job search includes strategies such as looking in the newspaper classified advertisements, searching through ‘help wanted’ notices on bulletin boards, going to recruitment or job agencies, and write in for jobs opportunities directly to the companies. All these traditional ways of job search involve an individual reacting to a job that has already been publicly offered.

Although, traditional methods are still necessary, creative, well-informed and socially Internet savvy job seekers will take a step further to stay ahead of their competition by creating an online presence to reach out to more prospective employers. That is because they know that more and more recruiters use the web as a place to search for talent and conduct employment background searches. This trend will set to increase over the years.

Here are 3 ways you can use social media to enhance your job search success:

1) Build your online presence on social network sites.

Make employers find you easily online and thus open doors to more job opportunities. Without an online presence, you will not appear to be as relevant as those who has and you will be passed over for more savvy applicants that have online visibility. Creating online presence include

  • LinkedIn- A networking tool for professional connections. Also used to recommend job candidates, industry experts and business partners. Employers use LinkedIn as a search tool to find talent, and job seekers use it to leverage their network in support of their search.
  • Twitter – Social networking and instant messaging that allows users to post 140- character updates. Employer can use Twitter to post for job opportunities.
  • Facebook – A social network that connects people, to keep up with friends and share ideas. Depending on their privacy level, some job seekers have successfully secured a job through their Facebook network.

2) Create a blog to demonstrate your expertise

Another good way to further boost your image and demonstrate your experience, expertise and passion in a particular field is to create an updated blog. Keep it professional, creative and update it with value add contents for readers. The articles that you post may include tips and advice on issues in your area of expertise, also be mindful that everything you write and post online is up for judgement.

3) YouTube and Pinterest Marketing

Internet savvy job seekers are making use of video marketing to promote themselves. This is a creative approach to job hunting that has become increasingly common in the social media arena. You could create a video resume, such as a short and traditional video that include a general rundown of your work experience, educational background and skills.

While Pinterest is not a networking platform, as it does not allow direct communication, it is becoming increasingly popular with businesses. It is a powerful tool to demonstrate your knowledge, organisational skills, and creativity to prospective employers. You can create boards which relate to specific skills-sets you have and use it as a portal to link to work you want to showcase – like an online portfolio.

4) Online Resume

In the new economy, it has changed the way employers review resumes, the Internet has also made it possible for job seekers to post their resumes online, on their own hosted web sites. This change is particular helpful to those persons whose resume presentation will be greatly enhanced by being able to take advantage of the graphics and interactive capabilities that an online resume on a personal web site can provide.

In a nutshell, in these times, a paper resume is not enough. It is essential to be creative and a well-designed electronic, or online version of your resume combined and linked to a strong social media profile, is usually ideal for a successful job search.

Options for Getting Around in Cyprus

Most people who visit Cyprus land at the Hermes Larnaca International Airport, through which more than five million travelers pass each year. But there is so much to see in Cyprus that those wanting to fully appreciate what this beautiful island has to offer need to know their options for getting from place to place. Taxi and chauffeur driven services are ideal for many travelers.

Since it became part of the European Union, Cyprus has experienced a large increase in tourism and has had to expand the Larnaca Airport more than once to accommodate the increased numbers of visitors. However, even though Cyprus’ road infrastructure is good and is improving all the time, Cyprus has some catching up to do in terms of public transport, though it is making progress.
