Graphology at Home-Lesson 16 – Your Health

Handwriting analysis can often be useful in detecting malfunctions in the body, for there are telltale signs in the ailing person’s writing. We know today that although the conscious mind of an individual may not be aware of any particular disorder, on the subconscious level the brain keeps a record of all that takes place in the body. Just as it dictates the personality, so it reacts to the disorder, for it is always aware when something is amiss. If the disorder is repaired, it is interesting to note how the signs disappear from the writing as well.

But handwriting signs of physical disorder are not so consistent as those for personality traits. Diagnosing illness through handwriting is still in its infancy. If, for example, a man’s left foot is amputated, a gap or blotch may appear in the left side of the lower zone-but only now and then. A normal man would probably not leave gaps there at all, or not with statistically significant frequency. It is this frequency-not a 100-percent consistency-which the graphologist looks for.

Picture handwriting superimposed upon a stick figure. The top part of the upper-zone letters would correspond to the head. If there are tremulous strokes and even a little gap in one of the letters-all in the same area, the left side of the top of the upper-zone letters, we can easily see why this writer should complain of headaches, particularly on the left side.

Imagine gaps in the right side of the upper portion of the upper-zone letters. This represents the head area, but the gap itself is not located at the top of the letters, but is a bit lower down and here represents the eyes. This writer may have lost the sight in his right eye.

Consider gaps in the center of the middle zone, which reflects the area of the stomach and crotch. This type of writing is frequently found among women after sustaining a hysterectomy.

Picture middle-zone gaps in the connecting strokes and in the beginning strokes, (these gaps can occur in the end strokes and have a similar interpretation). This area represents the arms and hands. Writers, whose hands were injured, due to accidents, commonly write this way.

When most of the defects appear in the upper left portion of the upper zone, this may be due to a stroke, which affected the left side of his body.

If someone, apparently in the best of health, were to hand you a handwriting sample, you might be a bit reluctant to say that there was something wrong with him. The graphologist should never be misled by any outside information whatsoever. Besides certain basic information (age, sex, country of origin), he should get all his information from the writing itself. He should not even rely on his own impression; this is not the job of the graphologist. The inexperienced analyst may hear that the subject whom he is analyzing is of a certain type. If he does not uncover this in the writing, he should not make this part of his analysis.

Many times, people make untrue statements in order to deceive the graphologist and because they are skeptical. The experienced graphologist prefers that you not tell him anything (except for the above-mentioned basic information), for he does not want his judgment influenced.

The writer suffered a severe accident when still a child and part of his left ear was severed. This was indicated by the contrast in his writing. The upper left part of the upper zone was considerably lighter than the rest of the writing. Wherever there is a nick or a space or part of the writing in different pressure from the rest, it is a sign from the brain that something in that particular area is different. This particular defect was not noticeable in the writer’s appearance, for his hair was covering it. But his handwriting gave it away.

Imagine there are quite a number of lighter strokes in the middle zone, compared to the rest of the writing. This is often a sign of anemia or low blood pressure-as if the person did not have enough strength to write the word with the proper amount of pressure.

Consider disturbances in the upper right part of the upper zone (reflecting the head) and in two instances a thickening and in one a gap. This person may have lost the hearing in his right ear. Why exactly there should be a thickening and a lightening cannot be determined, only that the brain notes a disturbance of some kind.

Picture heavy pressure in the left lower part of the lower zones (reflecting the feet). This person may suffer from corns on the left foot.

Imagine markedly less pressure (almost blank spaces) in the left side of the lower zone. This writer may have been in a fire and still has the scar.

Consider both the left side and the right side of the lower zone, which show empty spaces, areas that correspond with the feet. This writer’s feet may be deformed.

Picture a writing disturbance that occurs in the lower part of the upper-zone areas (representing the chest-waist area and the back). This writer may have suffered a slipped disk.

If a person who usually writes in a relatively clear manner suddenly begins to write a blotchy, unclear hand, it is a danger signal of possible physical and/or mental illness. Two handwriting samples of German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche authenticated this point. Though Nietzsche’s first writing was clear, the pastose, unclear, blotchy writing of the second sample was written after his physical and mental collapse, in a state of depression.

OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE TRENDS

One characteristic of compulsive neurotics is that they feel an unreasonable need to repeat certain thoughts or acts, often of an apparently harmless and meaningless nature. In handwriting, too, compulsion neurosis betrays itself in such meaningless repetitions.

When asked why she repeated the i-dots, the writer answered that she did not know why, but could not help repeating them.

PERSECUTORY TRENDS

This paranoiac betrayed himself through blurred spots his script. (They look like corrections that do not improve anything, or should I call them smoke screens?) These blurred spots may be interpreted as the visible traces of the writer’s temporary confusion or his unconscious attempt to obliterate his traces. For such blurred words, letters, syllables, figures seem to be produced during a passing loss of consciousness on the part of the writer.

Graphologically, I would interpret the:

…split letter as: indicating a break with tradition, customs, and the socially acceptable–a split in the writer’s intellectual world;

…decayed script as: indicating the undermining of the writer’s image of the real world and the dissolution of his contact and communication with other people;

…wavering lines as: indicating the writer’s confusion between conscious and unconscious, facts and hallucinations.

Oversimplified and incomplete as these interpretations are, they may serve as an invitation to experimental psychiatrists to look into these problems from the standpoint of expressive gestures. As a graphologist, I am not prepared to discuss the complete dynamic and genetic bases for these expressive signs and symptoms.

My Posture Is Terrible

As a practicing chiropractor of 37 years, I have heard many patients say: “I have terrible posture.” Are you aware of your posture? Do you feel as if your head is too far forward and your shoulders are slumped? Do you have neck and upper back pain and suffer from tension headaches? If so, this article is for you. It will describe poor and good posture and simple tips you can employ to improve your posture and health.

Let’s look at posture problems that typically occur:

· Forward head posture. Our heads weigh about as much as a bowling ball. If our head is positioned directly over our upper body, there is very little stress on the neck and upper back. However, if our head is several inches or more in a forward position it places much more stress on our neck and upper back. These areas then must work extra hard to compensate for forward head posture. This results in neck and upper back pain and stress headaches.

· Slumped shoulders. When I observe many peoples standing posture, I note that their hands may be positioned at the front of their thighs. However, when one is standing with good posture their hands should be at the side of the thighs and hips. Ideally, we should look like a soldier standing at attention with the hands at our sides.

In the western world the most common culprit for bad posture can be attributed to the amount of sitting we endure. Most of us sit many hours starting as school students. This gets compounded with sedentary occupations. Human beings are made to stand and walk-not sit!

It is important that we take time to get up and get moving. Taking a daily walk is a must with a sitting job.

When we take a walk, a simple trick can be employed to improve our posture. As we walk, pretend that there is a helium balloon attached by a string to the very top of our head. This automatically pulls us into a more upright, erect posture. We want to try to maintain this through the duration of our walk.

Another tip that we can utilize is to have an adjustable, upright desk where we can perform our work. This type of office equipment allows us to sit or to stand throughout the day. Even if a person stands 10% of their workday, a huge improvement in posture can be made.

When a person comes to my office for treatment, I always evaluate their posture and give them stretching and strengthening exercises they can utilize to improve their posture and their health. There is a term in health lexicon called “Upper Crossed Syndrome.”

By exploring online sources anyone can learn about upper crossed syndrome and consult with an appropriate healthcare specialist as to what exercises would be appropriate in improving their posture.

It’s always fun and rewarding for me to hear someone make a transition from saying: “my posture is terrible” to them saying: “I got a nice complement about my good posture today.”

How to Analyze Handwriting

Most people have heard of handwriting analysis, also known as graphology. It is a branch of psychology which relates handwriting to personality, emotions and desires. By looking at a sample of a person’s handwriting, a trained graphologist will be able to tell if the person is lying, feeling nervous, has low self esteem, is depressed, is a narcissist, is generous and kind, has an artistic or analytical mind, is highly intelligent, is an introvert or an extrovert, has high libido etc… Handwriting analysis is widely used in forensics to profile suspects and in psychotherapy to delve into a person’s subconscious. What most people do not know is that handwriting analysis is not as complex as you may think and with the right information, anyone can master this art. The following are some tips on how to analyze handwriting:

How to know if the person is stressed: Look at the upper loops of the letters b, d, f, h, l and t (these loops are known as upper zone loops). Normally, the loops will be slightly rounded. If these loops are angular or pointed in shape, then the writer has a predisposition towards stress, tension, anxiety and frustration.

How to spot liars: look at the stems of letters. When writing normally, some retracing of stems will occur, however, if retracing is very frequent, then it indicates that the person is trying to conceal something. This is because the writer knows that he/she is lying, and as a result their writing will be more intense. This tension will manifest itself in the handwriting, and it is generally believed that if over 35% of a person’s upper zone strokes are retraced, most likely they are not telling the truth.

How to spot someone with fragile emotions: look for broken loops. Broken loops occur when the hand leaves the paper and is found in both upper zone loops (e.g. l, h and b) and lower zone loops (e.g. p, g and y). Writing with many broken loops indicates that the writer has a fragile or broken emotional state of mind. Marilyn Monroe’s later handwriting is said to have contained many broken loops.

How to spot well-focused individuals: writing which is neat, well-formed and small indicates that the person has an ability of above average concentration and can focus on a task for long periods. Researchers, scientists, and writers often display this handwriting tendency.

Making a Big Lip Smaller – Plastic Surgery Lip Reduction

Making a small lip bigger is, far and away, the most common cosmetic lip change requested. However, there are some patients, both men and women, that feel their lips are too big and desire that they be smaller. When one’s lips are naturally excessively large, they may functionally interfere with lip competence (coming together and creating a lip seal) as well as being a source of too much attention and embarrassment.

Very large lips, also known as macrocheilia, can develop for multiple reasons. Some people just have them naturally and others develop them from multiple uncommon medical reasons. While large lips have a significant ethnic association, I have also seen a number of Caucasians from various descents who have them as well. In my Indianapolis plastic surgery practice, I have treated as many Caucasians as other ethnic groups for lip reduction surgery.

One lip condition that can be confused with macrocheilia is the double lip which occurs only in the upper lip. This is because the upper lip is too large (too much outer vermilion), it is because there is an extra roll of tissue on the underside (mucosa) of the upper lip. This becomes apparent when one smiles, as this extra roll of mucosa is seen as a horizontal roll of tissue beneath the upper lip. It surgical removal is done slightly different than a large outer upper lip.

The objective of lip reduction surgery is to create lip sizes that are more proportionate to each other as well as the rest of the face. At the least, a patient’s goal is to not have them as the most dominant feature of one’s face that draws the eye right to them.

Lip reduction surgery is uncomplicated to do but the surgical planning (marking) is the key. An initial mark (line) is drawn at the wet-dry junction but may change based on which part of the lip is more prominent, the dry vermilion or the wet mucosa. For some large lips, the dry vermilion is the dominant part to remove. For others, it can be more of the wet vermilion and mucosa. Careful preoperative examination of the lip must be done to make this determination. No matter which part of the upper lip is removed, you do not want the final closure (and subsequent scar) to be evident when the lips are either in rest or smiling positions. A wedge of excess lip is marked out and tapered as it goes into the corners of the mouth to prevent ant tissue excesses. I like to keep the final edge of the cut out away a few millimeters from the corner of the mouth.

Lip reductions can be done under local anesthesia, although more significant anesthesia would be more pleasant. Once anesthetized, the wedge excision removes primarily outer mucosa and the underneath submucosa. (in medical macrocheila the lip tissues removed may be deeper and more extensive) It is not necessary to remove muscle for cosmetic reduction and the labial artery should be preserved. I find that a pinch technique is very useful. By this method, the planned amount of mucosal excision is pinched up with a special instrument until the entire desired amount is in the pinch. This is then cut off with scissors and closed with a resorbable running suture. Only antibiotic ointment or vaseline is applied to the dry vermilion after to keep it moisturized as the lips swells and is prone to cracking and soreness.

The lip will swell considerably, which is normal, and it may take several weeks to appreciate the amount of reduction that has been done. Usually, about 4 to 6mm reduction sometimes more) of actual horizontal lip size can be easily achieved.

Muscles Used in Throwing a Football – Lower Body More Important Than Upper Body

There is a myth in football training, especially among younger athletes, in regards to where the power comes from when throwing a football. Many mistakenly believe that the upper body muscles, those of the shoulders and arm, are the primary muscles used in making a deep, powerful, accurate throw. However, nothing could be further from the truth, as the most powerful quarterbacks in the NFL and college football utilize their lower bodies to become stronger when throwing.

The first muscle group that young players need to be aware of is their thigh muscles. These include the quadriceps, hamstrings, adductors, and abductors, among many others. The calves should not be ignored, either, but the upper thigh muscles are the most important. These muscles are used to plant the foot in the ground and establish a strong base of support for the throw. Force is typically put into the ground to generate a throw, and the leg muscles are what put that force into the ground to begin with. Without strong leg muscles, that force can not be generated.

Once the front foot is planted, the next muscle group involved is the hips. The glutes, primarily the gluteus maximus and the gluteus medius, are used to generate the twisting motion that creates the power to throw the football. The hips are the most dense area of muscle in the body, and can generate tremendous amounts of force, as can easily be seen with world-class sprinters who have extremely developed hip muscles. Football quarterbacks also need that development in order to make a long, powerful throw.

The final area of musculature that young football players must take into consideration is the abdominals. The abdominal muscles are made up primarily of the rectus abdominis, which are located on the front of the body; the obliques, which are located on the sides of the torso; and the transversus abdominis, which crisscross the torso in a diagonal fashion. These muscles are not used to generate force so much as to transfer it, and transfer it mostly in a diagonal manner. This can be seen when a quarterback puts his left foot forward before throwing with his right hand. The legs and hips generate the force, which is transferred through the abdomen and into the chest, shoulder, and arm.

It is the abs that complete the chain from the lower to upper body and make for a powerful throw of the football. Unfortunately, many football strength and conditioning programs spend far too much time focusing on the chest and triceps, in particular. While these muscles are important when throwing, they are used mostly for stability and accuracy, rather than power and speed. A throw that is accurate, stable, and slow is more likely to be intercepted than one that is powerful, accurate, stable, and fast.

Upper Back Pain – Causes and Treatment

It is true that the majority of people suffer from lower back pain, but it is also true that the number of people suffering from upper back pain is increasing rapidly.

There are several causes for this problem.

1. Stressful life

People sit in the chairs for longer hours due to the increased pressure of work. They can spare less time for rest and relaxation. This leads to higher pressure on the upper back. The muscles and joints located here are small and delicate. They cannot withstand the long and sustained pressure. Therefore, they become tight and cause pain.

2. Pressure of the head

Our head is the heaviest part of the body and the upper back has to carry its weight all the time. When a person sits to work, he tends to bend his head forward. This, in turn, causes huge pressure on it. It also reduces the supply of blood to the muscles which become weak and tight. They, therefore, get easily tired and cause pain.

3. Dysfunction of the joints

Our spinal cord consists of several small bones. Extra pressure on the joints causes discomfort and prevents them from working smoothly.

4. Pressure upon soft tissues

The soft tissues in the spinal cord play an important role. They hold the vertebrae together and make it flexible. Overuse of this area due to increased amount of work especially on computers tires and stiffens the soft tissues and results in injury and pain.

5. The effect of the lower back

When we walk we not only move our legs and arms, we also move our spinal cord, which is spread across both the upper and lower parts of the back. It means that the joints and muscles of both the lower and the upper back work together. Therefore, when the joints and muscles of the lower back get tired they affect the upper back also.

Treatment

It is recommended that when you treat the upper back pain, you must address the tension and imbalance in the lower back also in order to ensure a complete treatment.

The best way to treat the problem is to do some stretching exercises regularly and keep the right posture. You may also take over-the-counter muscle relaxants and pain killers.

You should consult a specialist if the pain does not respond to conventional methods of treatment.

Girls Hairy Thighs Are a Big Turn Off

Upper legs hair is generally thinner than the hair that grows on the lower parts of the leg, and the inner thigh skin is usually a more sensitive skin than the lower calves and legs. This means that the hair removal process can be similar as you know it, but has some big differences you can’t afford to over look.

1. Shaving upper thighs – Shaving the inner thigh, can leave some unwanted effects. The hair that was shaved by the razor (which probably had a soft hair texture) will grow in a few days as new stumps, more thick than the hair shaved. Because of the sensitive area, where the jeans are tighter on the legs, the rough feeling can be very annoying. You can expect some red bumps and rash after a shaving, and thighs will turn reddish and sore.

2. Waxing inner thighs – Waxing leave the skin smoother than shaving and smoother for a longer period of time. The main thing you must consider before waxing the upper leg, is that the thighs are very close to the gentiles and the sex organs. Burns can occur when hot wax is placed on the legs. Be careful especially at the inner thighs where the skin is more sensitive.

3. Depilatory creams for the thigh – The depilatory creams are severe chemicals that dissolve the hair itself; they can cause an allergic reaction, especially at the sensitive upper thighs. The best advice would be to buy depilatory which is safe on pubic hair, read product labels to find one that says it’s safe to use on the “bikini” area or genitals.

4. Epilators for upper thigh- Epilator machines pluck hair in groups. You need to know the pain is surprisingly less at the upper inner thigh because the hair are thinner and can be more easily pulled away. Epilating can cause ingrown of hairs, while the hairs are pulled together some can well indeed break inside the follicle. Do not try to use epilator on the gentiles skin it’s too soft and the skin will be painfully pulled too, not allowing the hair to be plucked.

5. Electrolysis hair removal for the thighs – Electrolysis is when an electric current is sent to the hair root, killing it. Since every hair has to be dealt with at a time, electrolysis is a very slow procedure, usually done for small specific hair removal. For example Electrolysis for the armpits can take hours! So Electrolysis on the inner thighs will need multiple sessions which mean a very expensive costly side effect. One thing important to say is electrolysis is the true permanent hair removal procedure.

6. Laser hair removal for the thighs – Laser hair removal for the thighs is probably the most suitable removal solution for many. Laser treatment can be done on larger skin areas, more quickly than electrolysis, less painful than epilators, and more permanent than waxing. It might be a bit painful because the skin is sensitive as you go up the thigh till the genitals. The laser removal treatments are safe but cost a few hundred dollars for each session, and in some cases a maintenance sessions are needed every year or so.

So take the time to examine which of the removal methods is the best one for you, do you have the spare money for laser or electrolysis, can you stand the pain of epilators. Can you risk waxing so close to the bikini line? Maybe after all shaving every other day, is the best way for you.

How to Become Wealthy – What the Rich Know About Trading That Gives Them the Upper Hand

“I don’t have much money now but someday I will have my picture in the paper”

– Warren Buffet –

Warren Buffet is a self-made billionaire; he is the 3rd wealthiest man in the world and he has been for many years now. In my opinion this proves that trading is a great alternative to create huge wealth. Of course when you do it in the right way.

In this article I am going to reveal what in my experience is the single biggest reason some people can’t make money in the market, and what the rich know that gives them the upper hand.

Markets move when they want to move

“Good profits simply are not inconsistent with good behavior”

– Warren Buffet –

Yes, you can trade to become a millionaire, but you need to have financial freedom before you even consider starting a career as a trader.

Having financial freedom means you have a reserve of money that will allow you to pay your bills no matter what. It also means that you don’t carry any debt.

The single biggest reason people lose money in the market is because they don’t trade with a clear mind. They have bills to pay, and the money they use to pay those bills depend on the profits they make through their trading. This forces them to take excessive risks, and to trade with bad timing.

Let’s follow the lead of the greatest investor of all times. Even though Warren Buffet is a billionaire he lives in the same house he bought for $31,500 dollars in 1958. He drives the same car he bought ten years ago, and his annual paycheck is 100,000 dollars.

This means that even if he loses billions his lifestyle will not be in jeopardy. This gives him a clear mind to trade. And this mindset allows him to find opportunities that those traders who have their emotions tied to the market will never see.

Markets move when they want to move, and you need patience to make money in this business. Good profits are not inconsistent with good behavior. So, as long as you have a system with positive expectancy, in other words a system that makes more money than the money it loses, and you trade it consistently, you will succeed in this business.

One final piece of advice…

If you want to become a full time trader, first you need to learn to spend your money wisely. This will allow you to reach financial freedom very fast, and give you a solid ground to amass a huge fortune.

Back Pain When Breathing

Back pain when breathing is usually the result of a muscular problem in the upper back. Back muscles are situated very close to the lungs; when we inhale, the lungs expand, forcing the muscles in the upper back and chest to move. A muscle strain in the upper back can cause this movement to result in sharp pain or aching.

The muscles of the upper back – the latissimus dorsi, stretching from the mid-back to beneath the armpit, the rhomboids, stretching from the shoulder blade to just below the neck, and the trapezius, stretching from mid-spine to the shoulder and neck – can cause pain while breathing when they are strained. These muscles become strained either by injury or prolonged poor posture.

Rigorous sports or poor body mechanics can leave you with an injured upper back muscle. These muscles, used mostly in pushing and pulling efforts, may become strained if the work you are attempting to do outweighs your muscles’ strength.

To correct back pain when breathing caused by an injury, you must allow the injured muscle to repair itself by avoiding activities that stress the muscle. Once the muscle is healed, you can gradually recondition your upper back to be strong and capable.

Poor posture is likely a more widespread cause of back pain when breathing than back injury. Slouching, that classic example of poor posture, causes the pectoral muscles in the chest and the teres minor muscle in the armpit to shorten in length, since the upper back is hunched over and the shoulders are stooped in this position. These muscles become chronically tense, exerting a pull on the shoulders and back. As the upper back muscles are overstretched and strained, they grow weaker.

Strained muscles cause pain when we attempt to use them. With every breath, back muscles are being moved. This constant employment of weak muscles can lead to chronic upper back pain, noticeably triggered by every breath.

The situation worsens when back muscles begin to spasm. To begin with, strained muscles have a difficult time receiving a healthy amount of fresh blood flow. Blood is pumped in and out of muscles during a relaxation/contraction cycle. Since strained muscles cannot properly relax or contract, they are not receiving the proper amount of nutrients and oxygen from blood. Oxygen-deprived muscles go into spasms, or forced contraction; this is the body’s way of trying to end pain and protect the muscle by limiting motion. Yet upper back muscles must move in order for us to breathe; when they are in spasm, the motion can cause severe pain. The risk of back spasm in this situation is increased by the fact that the hunched posture constricts the lungs and limits the amount of oxygen circulating through the body.

If poor posture is the cause of your pain, then retraining your body to improve posture will be necessary for treatment. First, the tight muscles in the chest must be restored to their natural length. This is best done with the use of a foam roller in a technique called self-myofascial reslease. Once the muscles of the chest have been elongated, the upper back muscles can be conditioned to hold the head upright. Refer to http://www.everydayhealth.com/back-pain/upper-back-exercises.aspx for a list of exercises anyone can do to strengthen their upper backs.

Practicing proper posture is about more than having enough strength; since your body has learned the old pattern, it will take focus and possibly the assistance of ergonomic accessories like lumbar supports, cushions and foot rests to encourage proper posture. If the damage done by your previous posture is severe, you may need a physical therapist or other professional to guide you through exercises and stretches for many of your body’s muscles.

Back pain when breathing is rarely the sign of a serious condition affecting your lungs. If you have chest pain with back pain, it is wise to see a doctor. Otherwise, your pain is likely a sign that your back muscles are unhealthy and need attention. Breathing shouldn’t be a pain; begin your back pain management plan sooner rather than later.
