Handwriting Development

Most people do not realize that good handwriting is a direct result from good upper body strength. Crawling is a natural milestone that children need to learn. Crawling develops power in the shoulders, arms, wrists, and hands. Have you heard or personally ever stated “My child skipped crawling and went straight to walking!” While walking skills may be advancing quickly, it is also a good indication that the child will have poor fine motor skills.

Poor fine motor skills will impact a child’s ability to fasten buttons, snaps, zippers, pick up small objects, and especially to have legible handwriting. As a child crawls, his/her grasp will start to mature, allowing for more precise movements later on in development. Thus, good posture and arm strength are critical factors in improving your child’s handwriting. They are also beneficial areas to work on from birth to 5 years, during a child’s prewriting years.

What are good activities that can promote upper body strength? The following are some techniques that you can try at home: crawling through tunnels, wheelbarrow walking (child is walking on hands and adult is holding his/her feet), climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects, kneading dough (play dough), monkey bar play, or moving a scooter board by laying on his/her stomach and pushing through their arms (also can be done up or down ramps).

For those of you who have older children, you may know handwriting lessons are not always the most fun. Prior to having your child participate in a fine motor activity, have him/her perform one of the above upper body strength activities. These activities will stimulate the muscles and encourage good postural control during a handwriting or fine motor activity. Also, it may increase your child’s attention and focus! Do not have your child sit for more than 15-20 minutes, especially if he/she is under 5 years old. Eventually increase his/her time in small increments until you reach the desired practice time. It is important for you to provide a happy handwriting experience! Have fun!

A Perfectly Worn Bridal Lehenga Makes The Bride Look Appealing

Most of us have grown up seeing our aunties and cousins dressed up in a tomato red or pink bridal lehenga on their wedding. Most of the single girls dream of their wedding outfit. After all, the wedding is a lifetime event that every bride wants to make the most of. Nowadays, plenty of designs, cuts and lovely shades are available in the market for the wedding collection.

Though a wedding outfit of any bride makes her feel special and beautiful as never before, but here are some tips for adding more elegance and perfection-

Choose the Right Fabric – This is a significant point that should be kept in mind while buying a wedding lehenga. Yes, the right fabric makes a noticeable difference, so it is very important to pick the fabric according to body type, be it pear, apple, petite or athletic. For instance, the raw silk is the best choice for someone who is petite and georgette for little heavier body.

Go for the Right Sleeves Cuts – Usually, most of the brides don’t take blouse as a priority, but it is super important part of a wedding outfit. After all, the photographer takes most of the shots of the upper half of the bride. Therefore, upper body will be in focus more than lower one. Sleeves that cut off at the upper arms make them look casual and bulky while elbow length sleeves can make the bride look slim.

Lehenga Should be Worn on the Right Spot – The part of the body right above tummy and below the ribs is the perfect spot to wear the bridal lehengas because it is the slimmest part of the girls’ torso. As a bride, if you want to show off your figure, this is the perfect spot to wear lehenga that can make you look slimmer.

Drape Dupatta Perfectly – Perfect dupatta drape makes a big difference as well. If your breasts are little heavier and your face is round shape, avoid draping dupatta on the breasts with thick layers as it will make you look fat. If you want to look slim, drape your dupatta by pinning up on the side and leave it hanging like a saree. While draping dupatta, just bear in mind that it should look fitted, neat and nice that will make look flattering.

Go for Shapewear with Wedding Attire – Shapewears are playing important role in making the women look fit and pretty. A shapewear can really provide help in getting nice fit on the hips of women, especially if it is worn under bridal lehenga or designer saree that are fitted from the top.

Some of you may find that you will arrive at a point where you may desire more resistance from your machine. You can purchase multiple resistance rods for an even more challenging overall body workout. Because there is an additional price for the rods, I gave a slightly lower score on my review. Lastly, I liked that this machine allows you to sit in a comfortable position while getting in shape, in a relatively small work space. Remember, consistent effort will produce amazing results!

Zelli Shoes – Choosing Just the Right Men’s Dress Shoes

Choosing the right pair of dress shoes is an essential part of completing a man’s overall look and Zelli shoes are a great place to start. There are several factors involved in choosing footwear that we should discuss. These factors determine what footwear is appropriate for a particular man’s taste and needs. They include construction, functionality, and comfort. If an individual can find a pair of shoes that satisfies each of these elemental needs they are likely to have found a shoe that they can wear for many years to come.

When it comes to the construction of a shoe there are many variations available. The first consideration is how it is actually built or stitched. We will cover two of the most popular stitch techniques, the Blake stitch and the welt.

The Blake stitch construction involves attaching the upper and insole of the shoe to the last without the use of a ‘welt’, and then gluing the sole on. The final step of the process is to create a single row stitch using a machine to attach the insole, upper, and sole. On Blake stitched shoes you will notice the soles are cut much tighter to the shoe itself because no stitching is required on the edge of the sole. Overall it makes for a lighter shoe versus one that is welted, but it is a shoe that is not nearly as durable or resistant to elements such as water.

Welted shoes are those that have a strip of leather, also known as the welt, which is stitched to the insole of the shoe and the upper. The fact that the insole and upper are stitched together and not glued allows for some very positive effects on the shoe. The first is that the leather retains its durability, the construction allows for good insulation and breathes, the shoe remains flexible, and the shape of the shoe is better retained. Shoes with a Goodyear welt, can be worn for many years as the soles on the shoes can be fairly easily replaced by stitching the new soles in place of the old. Welted shoes typically cost more than similar style Blake stitched shoes because of the additional process involved in the construction.

In addition to the manner in which a shoe is constructed, the actual leathers used in the production of a shoe are extremely important when it comes to choosing the right footwear. The range of leathers offered from designer shoe manufacturers is wide, and includes calfskin, deerskin, suede, exotic leathers such as crocodile and alligator, and cordovan leather. The more exotic or hard to find leathers are of course more expensive, but usually make for a more unique shoe that will allow the discerning man to stand out from the crowd.

Another important factor when choosing the perfect dress shoe is functionality. Shoes that are to be worn daily should be more comfortable, while shoes only worn on special occasions can sacrifice a little comfort for style. Typically dress shoes are produced with either a leather or rubber sole, and in some cases a combination leather and rubber sole. For a more refined and dressy look the leather sole is preferable. The right leather sole with a comfortable shoe insole can be worn all day at work or on the go, but this is not always an easy find. Typically, the more formal the shoe, the more likely it is to have a leather sole. A dress shoe with a rubber sole sacrifices the dressiness of the overall look, but can make up for it in spades with the extra comfort it provides. The right dress shoe with rubber sole can cause you to forget your even wearing shoes at all.

One shoe brand that we’ve found that provides a huge selection of dress shoes that satisfy any functionality needs are Zelli shoes from Italy. Their collection includes a wide range of leather shoes and exotics in both slip on and lace up styles. If you are one of those that appreciates a beautiful genuine exotic leather shoe, then you have to take a look at the Zelli collection. If you need a shoe that is going to be comfortable and last you many years to come, take a look at the Zelli shoes collection. What you get for the price is unmatched in the designer and luxury shoe market.

Can I Get Relief From Headaches Without Medications

Having been a chiropractor for the past 37 years I get many questions from patients. One question I received recently was from a woman in her early 30s who had suffered from tension headaches for nearly a decade. Her headaches were frequent, occurring several times per week. Unless she took an over-the-counter headache medication the discomfort could persist for many hours.

Another patient who spent a lot of his workday at a computer also experienced frequent stress related headaches. When he initially came to my office to be checked he related that he also needed to take anti-inflammatory medication to gain some relief of his condition.

Both these patients sought chiropractic care because they had heard that safe, gentle, treatment by a chiropractor could help them gain relief from headaches, naturally, without the use of medications. Both of them asked me: “Can I get relief from headaches without medications?”

After I had examined both of them, I was pleased to tell them: “Yes, your case will allow me to provide you with chiropractic care that will provide relief of your headaches.”

This article will provide information about a specific type of headache called, tension headaches. It will discuss what causes this condition and how natural chiropractic care can help with relief for this very common health problem.

There are various kinds of headaches that exist. It is estimated that half the population of the United States experiences some type of recurring headache. Experts have determined that approximately 25% of those suffering from this malady have problems with nerves in the upper part of the spine. The spinal bones of the neck are also called the cervical vertebrae. The joints of the cervical vertebrae and the upper sets of spinal nerves in that area can commonly be irritated if there is improper alignment or movement of the cervical vertebrae.

When this happens, it can trigger a tension or stress headache. One of my patients jokingly called them “headache nerves.” If she developed headache discomfort, she would call my office to tell me she was coming in to have her headache nerves taken care of.

To help her, and others who experience tension headaches, I will evaluate the alignment and motion of the upper cervical vertebrae. This is done by using my hands to feel vertebral movement and alignment. Frequently, I will also examine the area by taking some special x-rays to observe the upper vertebrae of the spine.

If there is a problem in this area it is just a matter of providing chiropractic care to treat the problem. The method of treatment a chiropractor utilizes is called manipulation. Manipulation may also be termed the chiropractic adjustment. This is a gentle, safe therapy for managing headache pain. A chiropractic adjustment involves a quick, mild movement of the doctor’s hands to bring about realignment of abnormally positioned cervical vertebrae. It is very safe and typically brings a good deal of pain relief to the patient.

The majority of patients suffering from tension headaches resulting from problems with nerves and joints of the upper cervical spine can obtain headache relief of this common, but very annoying condition with chiropractic care.

Orthodontics – Understanding Orthodontic Treatments

Orthodontics is a type of dentistry that helps to correct crooked teeth or teeth that are not properly aligned. This is in a bid to improve the appearance of the teeth. These specialists use devices such as braces to help correct and align teeth. The treatment is broad and can use a wide variety of devices. This of course depends on your problem. In some cases, teeth have to be removed for the procedure to be successful. If the braces are worn correctly, results are achieved in 18 to 24 months. There are cases that are more complicated, and the treatment process may take longer.

Causes of crooked or misaligned teeth

Problems affecting proper development of teeth often run in the family. This implies that there are particular genes you might inherit that would affect how your teeth will develop. However, in most cases, the cause cannot be attributed to any known factor. In some instances the misalignment is due to an accident or even persistent thumb sucking. To avoid these problems in future, baby teeth need to be taken care of properly and thumb sucking discouraged.

Candidates for orthodontist treatment

Generally, people whose teeth and jaws fail to develop normally are in need of this treatment. The problem with misaligned teeth is that they make it hard for one to maintain proper oral hygiene. In severe cases, this misalignment can affect the face, giving it a disproportional shape. This can result in psychological problems and low self-esteem. This problem is more prevalent in teenagers and should be rectified in good time.

Other teeth problems

There are several common teeth problems that necessitate orthodontic treatment:

Protruding teeth: This mainly affects the upper teeth. It is best to deal with these teeth immediately because they are prone to damage in the event that you fall or for those who practice contact sports.

Crowding: Adult teeth may not grow normally causing overcrowding and teeth to grow in the wrong position.

Asymmetrical teeth: In some cases, you will find that the upper and lower teeth are not aligned. This gives them a crooked appearance that needs to be rectified.

Deep bite: This happens when the lower teeth are covered by the upper ones excessively.

Reverse bite: This occurs when the upper teeth bite into the lower ones.

Impacted teeth: This is when adult teeth fail to come through because they grow in the wrong position.

Open bite: This mostly occurs due to prolonged thumb sucking, causing the lower and upper teeth to fail to meet. Normally, the upper teeth should fall on the lower ones.

When should treatment start?

Orthodontic treatment for kids should be started when all the teeth have developed. For most of them this happens at the age of 12 or 13. There are certain instances when treatment may be necessary before this period. For adults, the procedure can be done at any age, but options are more limited for adults. Fortunately, orthodontic treatment is widely available and a full examination can be performed before administering any treatment.

What Are Oscillators in Technical Analysis?

Oscillators are widely used as a tool of technical analysis, they are popular mainly because of their leading signal generating ability, being as leading indicators they don’t lag behind the price action. They are most profitable in a sideways market, in contrast to trend following indicator like moving average, which is more profitable in a trending market.

Oscillators take the form of lines drawn below the price plot and usually move in a pre-defined range and they are often similar in structure. Oscillators are used for generating trading signals by using the direction and value of oscillators. The value of the oscillators indicates the strength of trend. If the value of oscillator rises, the price increases and it gains momentum. Oscillators are also used to find out the overbought and oversold zone, if the price rises too quickly the oscillator reaches to a level at which it is considered overbought. Conversely, if the prices decreases too sharply, the oscillator reaches to a level at which it is considered oversold.

General Rules for Interpretation

As a general rule, when the oscillator reaches an extreme value in either the upper or lower end of the band, this suggests that the current price move may have gone too far too fast and is due for a correction or consolidation of some type. As another general rule, the trader should be buying when the oscillator line is in the lower end of the band and selling in the upper end. The crossing of the midpoint line is often used to generate buy and sell signals. We’ll see how these general rules are applied as we deal with the various types of oscillators.

The Three Most Important Uses for the Oscillator

There are three situations when the oscillator is most useful. You’ll see that these three situations are common to most types of oscillators that are used.

1. The oscillator is most useful when its value reaches an extreme reading near the upper or lower end of its boundaries. The market is said to be overbought when it is near the upper extreme and oversold when it is near the lower extreme. This warns that the price trend is overextended and vulnerable.

2. A divergence between the oscillator and the price action when the oscillator is in an extreme position is usually an important warning.

3. The crossing of the zero (or midpoint) line can give important trading signals in the direction of the price trend.

Oscillator classification

1. Absolute price oscillator (APO), because it deals with the actual prices rather than percentage changes.

2. A percentage price oscillator (PPO), on the other hand, computes the difference between two prices.

3. A third member of the price oscillator family is the DE trended price oscillator (DPO), which ignores long term trends while emphasizing short term patterns.

While an APO will show greater levels for higher priced securities and smaller levels for lower priced securities, a PPO calculates changes relative to price. Subsequently, a PPO is preferred when: comparing oscillator values between different securities, especially those with substantially different prices; or comparing oscillator values for the same security at significantly different times, especially a security whose value has changed greatly.

The most common oscillators are MACD, RSI, ROC, CCI.

Three Adverse Effects of Aesthetic Forehead Deanimation

The injectable aesthetic drugs, Botox and Dysport, are the single most effective non-surgical treatments for unwanted forehead wrinkles. They are simple to inject and generally work very well. But adverse effects from their use do occur and it is usually that of unpredicted or undesired aesthetic effects.

The most dreaded and well known complication of injectable neuromuscular facial treatments is upper eyelid drooping, known as ptosis. This occurs when the toxin diffuses or migrates from an injection site in or around the eyebrows down into the upper eyelid. The position of the upper eyelid margin drops down, covering some portion of the iris. This is easily seen by all and no patient wants to walk around for months with an eyelid at ‘half-mast’. This results from injecting too close to the eyebrow or putting in large volume in an injection site near the eyebrow. Fortunately, eyelid ptosis is very uncommon as there is no known reversal or antidote to this problem other than letting it wear off.

One of the more frequently seen adverse effects is an unusual or unnatural looking forehead movements. When the area between the eyebrows (glabella) is treated, those pesky vertical lines and furrows will go away but the rest of the forehead is unaffected. For those with very active forehead movements, this can result in a central zone of paralysis amidst a sea of moving forehead areas. This may also make the eyebrows lift up in its mid- to lateral parts but not in the brow area closest to the nose. (known as a ‘Spock’ brow) These abnormal forehead movements can be easily managed by the judicious placement of injections in other areas of the forehead to soften those movements and create a less active but more symmetric movement of the forehead and brows.

The last adverse forehead effect is an undesired lowering of the eyebrows, also known as ptosis. When too many injections are done above the brow and across the forehead, the eyebrow may feel heavy and actually drop a little bit. The arch of the eyebrow may change as well. In some cases, placing injections high up along the scalp line may cause the eyebrow to raise although this is not always successful.

Botox and Dysport have a very profound reducing effect on facial muscle movements where they are injected. But forehead movements, eyebrow and eyelid positions all may be adversely effected by these injections and sometimes it is possible to have too much of a good thing. In some cases, additional ‘balancing’ injections can be done to counteract how the muscle movements have been affected. When in doubt as to whether more injections can be effective, I prefer in my Indianapolis plastic surgery practice to first use a local anesthetic that lasts for 24 hours or so and see if the patient finds it helpful…before proceeding with the longer acting injections. Upper eyelid ptosis, however, is largely irreversible and must await the tincture of time.

Prime Movers and Stabilizers – What They Are and Why They Matter

People frequently write or talk about the physiological differences between muscle fibers (fast twitch vs. slow twitch, oxidative capacity, etc.), but this information is generally not very useful to the typical health and fitness enthusiast. Some understanding of how your muscles work is certainly important, but most people don’t need to know all the in-depth physiology. Instead, I believe that understanding the basic functional differences between muscles provides more practical information than you would get by learning a lot of the muscle physiology.

When looking at the functional differences between muscles you can certainly go into great depth and examine how all the various muscles function at every single joint, but in the end, muscles generally fall into two different functional categories: prime movers and stabilizers. Prime movers are the muscles that actively create movement, while stabilizers provide balance and support to your body.

Prime movers are typically the larger muscles in your body and include muscle groups such as your quads and hamstrings (upper thigh), pecs (chest), lats (back), biceps and triceps (arms), etc. They connect to your bones (by tendons) and create movement around a joint. For example, your bicep connects your upper arm to your lower arm (forearm), crossing the elbow joint, and when the bicep contracts it brings your forearm closer to your upper arm. Since the bicep contraction creates this movement, it is considered a prime mover.

Stabilizers, as their name implies, have more to do with stabilizing your body than actually creating movement. Stabilizers are smaller muscles and in many cases they are not really even visible, because they are either so small or deep under your surface muscles. These muscles help to keep your bones, joints, and muscles correctly aligned both during movement and while you are stationary.

Stabilizer muscles are also essential for maintaining good posture throughout your life. For example, the stabilizer muscles in your mid and upper back, work to keep your shoulders back and in line with the rest of your body. If those muscles become too weak or your chest and front shoulder muscles become proportionally too strong or tight, your shoulders will begin to round forward. If the stabilizer muscles are not strengthened to the point where they can reverse this change, then the shoulder rounding will progress and your posture will become worse over time, leading to additional problems.

Prime movers and stabilizers both play valuable roles in your body and any well-rounded training program will include exercises or workouts to improve both types of muscles. It is also important to note that since prime movers and stabilizers have different functions and muscular demands, they should be trained differently. Unfortunately, a lot of people try to train stabilizers as if they are prime movers and possibly an ever greater number of people don’t realize stabilizers need to be trained at all.

Really this is not surprising, because most people in the fitness industry and the media still focus on using exercise to improve how your body looks and rarely spend time explaining how training can improve the way your body functions. It is a common assumption that training will always improve the way your body functions, but this is only partially true. A well-balanced program will improve how your body functions, but many programs are imbalanced or ignore important aspects that actually lead to physical dysfunction.

Improving stabilizer muscles is as example of something that is often left out of the average training program. Since stabilizers are so small, training them usually does not cause any dramatic change to how your body looks, so they don’t get much attention and are often completely ignored. It is very tempting to only train prime movers, because they are responsible for the most calorie burning and physical change. While the majority of your training time can be spent on prime movers, at least some stabilization training should be included as well.

When resistance training (lifting weights, using exercise bands, etc.), prime movers are generally trained by performing sets of exercises where each set contains typically contains between 3 and 15 reps, depending your training goals. In general, lower reps and higher weight result in more strength gains, while higher reps and lower weight results in more local muscular endurance. However, in both cases, the muscles are trained for a certain number of reps, usually until they become fatigued, and then there is a period of rest so they can recover for the next set.

This type of training is effective, because prime movers usually only work for shorter durations (with the exception of long endurance events), but stabilizers frequently have to contract for hours every day. The difference is that stabilizers muscles are designed to produce small and sustained contractions for prolonged stabilization as opposed to the strong and brief contractions of the prime movers. As a result, stabilizer muscles do not need to be trained to produce greater amounts of force for a short period of time.

The good news is that you can actually train stabilizer and prime mover muscles at the same time, depending on the exercises you use. For example, using machines to work your leg muscles (leg press, leg extension, etc.) provides little benefit to your leg stabilizers, but exercises performed standing in a split stance (one leg forward and one leg back), on one leg, or on balance devices (Bosu, inflated discs, etc.) will challenge the stabilizer muscles along with the prime movers.

One thing to note is that when performing exercises that challenge your stabilizers, your prime movers will not be challenged as much, because you will not be able to use as much weight or perform as many reps as when your stabilizers are not used. This is because energy that would be used to contract your prime movers is spent on stabilization and control of the movement. In addition, your stabilizers may give out before your prime movers, if the stabilization demand of the exercise is high enough.

However, for most people, the benefits of including stabilization training far outweigh the negative of having a little less improvement in the prime movers. Unfortunately, there is not much incentive for people to include stabilization exercises, because they often don’t realize how important stabilizer muscles are, at least not until after they start experiencing problems associated with poorly functioning stabilizers. Also, these problems typically do not start to occur until the mid to late stages of life and they are frequently thought of as normal parts of aging, instead of preventable or reversible muscle and joint problems.

For instance, let’s go back to my earlier example of a person who has rounded shoulders. It is common for elderly individuals to have forward rounding shoulders along with excessive curvature in their upper back and spine. In most cases, this is not a normal part of aging and it is actually caused by a combination poor stabilizer muscle function, lack of flexibility, general lack of muscle use, and the postural changes that result from these issues.

When people make a point of staying active, maintaining their flexibility, and practicing good posture throughout their life, the rounding of the shoulders and other postural changes can usually be avoided. Fortunately, if you have not done everything you should have when you were younger, there is still hope. A well-rounded training program, including stabilization training that focuses on your problem areas can go a long way in reversing and preventing many of the muscle, bone, and joint problems typically associated with aging.

Half Sleeve Tattoos – General Things You Should Know

As a part of arm tattoos category, half sleeve tattoos are very popular in tattoos market. Not just because they cover a large place on arm which makes them very powerful, but because they offer a great deal of creativity to its future wearer. Its size is a real ground for that matter.

Most of the time, people tend to think that half sleeve tattoos are only those tattoos that are wrapped around upper arm – from shoulder to the elbow. But, believe it or not, we have another half piece of arm below this area, also called lower arm! Tattoos that cover this place are also considered to be half sleeve tattoos. So, when talking about them, we should not forget this lower arm area between elbows and a wrist.

People who really like sleeve tattoo designs but who work at the places where work ethic doesn’t approve tattoos – most of the time they use their upper arm for placing their half sleeve design. The reason for that is really simple. Such tattoo is much easier to hide than the one on lower arm. Interesting thing here is that for this reason people tend to choose softer designs for lower arm and more aggressive designs for upper arm. When deciding which half of arm to ink with a half sleeve design, consideration of various factors like a nature of their job, might be a crucial thing in making that decision.

Usually, these tattoos can be made in two ways. First, person can made a whole project from the scratch by having a big design wrapped around their upper or lower arm. Second, they can try to gather all small designs on arm from the past to one big unique half sleeve tattoo – either by adding additional designs or by implementing a few smooth artistic moves so that all those designs would really look like a one whole. Latter way of gathering many small tattoos to one whole is usually taken when person is not satisfied with how designs from the past look on their arm.

One important thing considering getting tattoos in general is money. But getting a half sleeve tattoo is everything but cheap. In dependency on design complexity it could get from one thousand to two thousand dollars, or even more than that. So, the budget is definitely one thing which can direct person’s decision in this, or that way, when it comes to having or not having a half sleeve tattoo.

A future wearer of this tattoo kind should be aware that the inking process itself is not a one day job, after which they can go home happy knowing they got a great new tattoo on their half arm. Since it covers a large skin area on person’s arm and due to amount of pain person can hold on at one time, around fifteen sessions in average are predicted for this kind of work. One per week is preferable. Yes, getting half sleeve tattoos is not easy to do.
