Before we begin, ask Jesus Christ to forgive you of all sins and be your Savior. This is the first and most important step in the process of freedom from demonic spirits. Jesus Christ is the Deliverer, not any man or woman. People are just vessels that Jesus uses. God (not the minister) gets all glory for any freedom from evil spirits that a person receives.
After Salvation, the believer should repent of and renounce all personal and generational connection with evil spirits whether known or unknown. The word renounce just means to “declare your disconnection”. Repentence is “to be sorry for”things that we have done wrong knowingly or unknowingly. We repent and renounce our generational connection due to the fact that the Bible shows that generational lines can be affected by sin up to the tenth generation. The deliverance candidate should repent of and renounce the following (not limited to) list:
1. Occult bondage- This is demonic bondage that comes from the participation in occult practices such as: Astrology, Numerology, Divination/Fortune Telling, Kabala, Automatic Handwriting and Witchcraft.
2. Sins of the Fathers: To include anger, fornication, adultery, drunkenness, anti-christ, rebellion, rejection and others.
3. Repent of and renounce all unforgiveness in your heart: This is also a very important aspect of a complete and thorough deliverance. Our salvation as Christians hinges on “the forgiveness of God”. God expects us to forgive those that have wronged us. Just release them to God and receive your total freedom. If we don’t forgive others, how can we expect God to forgive us?
4. Deuteronomy 28 has a list of curses shown in verse 16 till the end of the chapter. These curses can be read out loud, repented of, broken and renounced in Jesus name. The procedure would include: accepting Jesus Christ as Lord, breaking the powers of occult bondage and sins of the fathers then coming over to Deuteronomy and reading the curses aloud. During this process a Christian can read each curse individually and break them or read them all and break, repent of and renounce them at the end of the reading.
5. Make sure that you are being completely honest with the minister that you have trusted to assist in your deliverance. The power that demons have increase when they are able to remain hidden. In addition, if you walk in agreement with them and do not expose and renounce them, their power will remain over you. Be completely honest with the minister that is assisting in your deliverance. Remember the demons and God already know what issues you have. However, I will make one fact perfectly clear. The demons’ knowledge is limited but God’s knowledge of you is unlimited.
6. Finally, the demons must be cast out. Always pray before you go to any deliverance minister. I encourage you not to go to a minister based on what your friends have told you or who you may think the popular minister is. Once you have entrusted your spirit with one minister, the worst thing that you can do is jump from minister to minister. This switching of ministers is compared to switching from one doctor to the next. If you have sincerely sought the Lord in prayer about the minister you have chosen for yourself or a loved one’s deliverance, allow the Lord to work through that minister. If you go from one minister to the next then each minister does not know where the previous minister left off.
7. Stay away from sin and whatever you were delivered from and be diligent in your study of the Word. Once delivered the only way to remain free is to stay close to the Lord, avoid sin and the things that you were delivered from and to study the Word of God. Stay in touch with the minister that assisted in your deliverance and advise them of any problems that you may encounter. Keep in mind that you may need more than one deliverance session in your quest for spiritual freedom.
God bless you and remember Jesus Christ is your Deliverer.
