It’s often the little things in a flooring project that really finish the job, and that’s where thresholds and transitions come in! These little guys are the separation between one floor and another, or they can top up your tile edge to give it that professional look you want. So, what’s the difference between the threshold and the transition? Good question.

Thresholds are the spaces between one floor to another, normally around 4-6 inches in width. Transitions can be made of many different materials including, but not limited to: marble, granite, and stone. There are many ways to install a transition in the sense that there’s no right or wrong direction or style. What you are doing is separating one floor from another, usually from one room to another.

A good example of this would be a tile floor in a hallway, to another tile floor in a kitchen. You would place the 4-6 inch threshold in the doorway, allowing you to start the tile in the next room in any direction or type you wish. So if you had ceramic tile in the hallway, but wanted porcelain tile in the kitchen, a threshold would allow you to do this while still looking professional. Even if you just wanted to use the same tile in each room, but wanted a different pattern, adding a threshold will work very well.

Transitions are close to the same thing, as they also separate one type of floor from another, though normally these floors are far different from each other. Transitions come in plastic and metal forms, metal being the more expensive, professional choice. There are many different types of transitions, depending on your particular application.

Are you transitioning from tile to carpet? There’s a transition piece for that. From hardwood to tile? There’s a transition piece for that as well. Even if you’re going from tile to tile, you can just use a transition piece instead of a threshold piece, depending on the final look you want.

Make sure you know your height of flooring you will be using or transitioning to, when you’re deciding what’s best for your floor. If you have a floor that’s very thick like hardwood and you want to come down to your existing vinyl floor, choose the piece that has a downward slope that allows your feet to easily slide up or down.

In the end, it’s dependant on you and your particular application and taste. There is no right and wrong decision for this. That being said, don’t put a transition piece down that’s meant for a carpet, when you’re going to tile, or use a ¾” thick stone to threshold beside a ½” ceramic tile. Common sense is important to use as well.

Piece by piece, any situation is a cinch to get over, but like any meat that you have to eat, it has to be cooked right. The meat of a situation is what I am writing about here. Not eating actual frogs and elephants piece by piece. Indeed, I am talking about chief metaphors here, and situations, not actual eating. So, that brings me to a point. I have all three editions of Brian Tracy’s book “Eat That Frog”, and I understand one thing: If it needs to be done, it needs to be done, also here is not any getting around it except to deny it or simply throw the situation away in total disgust and not want to deal with it.

In life there are things we must deal with “full boar” or totally engaged, and bad situations that come up are in that category. Today, I have a plumbing problem at home that I am dealing with that seems like an “elephant” at this time. Although I am at the library writing this article, I am still dealing with it piece by piece calmly, and arranging for repairs. Let me put it this way, writing this article today seems like the “frog to eat” and arranging the repairs seems like the “elephant to eat”, indeed, I am dealing with them both piece by piece in a calm manner, though.

Listen, nothing ultimately is worth getting a panic over or too excited about. Nothing.

Thinking realistically, the more we handle in life without throwing it away or avoiding it in disgust, the better we get at handling life. All we have to do is think, act and generate results like putting the fork to our mouth with the frog or elephant meat, piece by piece. Get it?

When I think of reality, I think not of “beating reality at its own game”, but I think of dealing calmly with it or to repeat the final words in James Allen’s book “As A Man Thinketh”, I simply say to myself “peace, be still” and start working calmly instead of playing the panic game. At the very least, I consider the best case scenario over the worst case scenario, and work on achieving the best thing possible.

You know, dealing with the up moments and down moments of life, I realize that they are just moments that we all have to ride with, and work on while we are in them and that whole group of moments is what we make them over all. So, how we deal with reality is as important as how we deal with all those moments in reality. If we deal with each one in a panic, then over all will be a panic. If we deal with each one calmly, over all will be calm. In short, reality is what we make it through moments and over all. Our choice. We decide how we eat it.

I’m tired and weak… My legs are heavy while I walk the streets to nowhere. Can you tell me where I am? The road is long and my life lost its direction… Can you even see me or hear me? Ah! I don’t think so. I feel so invisible, like I don’t even exist. In the eyes of the righteous, I AM INVISIBLE! Would you dare to pause and think for a second – what I have gone through? What kind of life I had? Please don’t condemn me!

Life has been beautiful, but it was my choice why life has been hard to me. Years ago, we were rich. I lived a life full of chances – chances to succeed and build a future out of my parents’ hard work. But what did I do? I was so stupid to set aside my dreams and just focused on enjoying life. It started out as fun, fun, fun!!! Little did I know – I was getting hooked into drugs. Yes! I became an addict at an early age and I let it consume me till the end of my days.. The thing is… I allowed to be enslaved by drugs and it was so difficult to break the hold that the drug had on me. My urge was so strong that I can’t control myself to the point of betraying my loved ones just to acquire it. Yes I was a sinner… and all my miseries and tribulations are outcome of my wrong choice. My heart broke as I saw my weeping parents slowly pulling away from me… Little by little, I realized I was losing the most important people in my life.

I can feel my body slowly deteriorating. Oh God! Please help me get through this struggle! Forgive me for being a failure to the people I love most – for striking their hearts with my wicked ways… I am unforgivable! Yes… I admit, I tortured my family every time they saw me drowning in my shameful addiction. But nevertheless, my parents decided to bring me to rehab. It was a stormy night I can never forget. On our way, we had a tragic car accident that took my parents away from me. I wish I was the one who died instead of them!!! To call an armor ring a piece of jewelry, whilst correct in its description is almost an insult because to be honest I have never seen anything quite like them before. Contemporary furniture is never labelled homogenous or humdrum, but rather eye-catching, captivating and thought provoking. A fascinating combination of bold adventurous designs, geometric sculptured shapes, plump leather upholsteries and bright colour palettes have given us some of the most iconic furniture of the 20th century.

One particularly prolific designer, often regarded as the founder of contemporary furniture, was George Nelson. He consistently worked exceptionally well with vivid colour and flamboyant shapes. Apparently, always very disparaging about himself, he viewed his design career as ‘lucky’, being in the right place at the right time. There’s still an on-going debate as to whether it was Nelson or his co-designer, Irving Harper, who was really the brains and creative contemporary furniture genius and ultimately deserving of the credit for these iconic furniture items.

In 1948, some eight years before the Marshmallow creation, an unforgettable classic from George Nelson’s studio was conceived; the quirky and kaleidoscopic Ball Clock. Vitra, the only company licensed to sell the original clock design, still produce them according to the letter, but have incorporated a high-grade quartz movement.

Checkmate is the goal of the game of chess and the only way to win the game. Checkmate is when a king is placed under attack, and has no means to move out of check, any pieces to block the attack, or any pieces to capture the opposing piece threatening the King’s capture.

Basic Strategies Of Chess:

There are many strategies in the game of chess, but for those who are beginners and learning the basics, here a few general strategies most chess players follow:

1. Protect Your King

The purpose of the game of chess is to capture the King. This means without a King, there is no game. Be sure to keep your King in a position of safety throughout the game.

2. Control the Center

A common expression in the game of chess is “Whoever controls the center controls the game.”

While this does not mean if you do not have pieces in the center of the board you will lose the chess match, it does mean it’s more desirable to have the majority of your pieces in the center of the board.

You need to pull the drain apart to get the sheetrock piece out, or at least break it up into smaller pieces if it cant be reached with a wire coat hanger.

First of all, put a bucket underneath the drain to catch any excess water while taking the drain apart.

Second, take a pair of channel lock pliers and loosen the drain pipe nuts where the u curve is on the drain pipe. There are 2 drain pipe nuts, one on each side of the u.

After taking the u shaped pipe off, look if you can see the piece of sheetrock on either side of the drain pipe.

If you can see it, try to get it with a pair of needle nose pliers or other tool that can grab it to lessen the chance of it being jammed further into the pipe.

If you cant see it, use a wire coat hanger and feel for its position. If you can feel it with the coat hanger try to fish it out. If not, try breaking it up with the coat hanger being careful not to jam it further into the pipe.

After your efforts, if you are unsuccessful at removing the piece of sheetrock or breaking it up enough to flush it out, you may need to rent a drain snake.

In this case, you don’t want to make the mistake of moving the wooden piece.

Overburn

Since branding irons tend to get really hot, you are more likely to burn the piece. But there is an easy fix. You can sand the piece based on the level of overburn.

Uneven Burns

It’s difficult to address uneven burns. If you have a jig or drill-press system, you can make necessary adjustments in case of an uneven burn. If you want to fix it, an easy way out is to reapply the brand. On the other hand, if the piece is flat, the same technique can help fix the problem. The other part may be overburned and it can be fixed by sanding.

Lastly, if you use branding irons, you will be in need of proper artwork, such as vector images. For this, you can get help from a graphic designer.
