Trampoline Replacement Parts for Different Kinds of Trampolines

Size is an extremely important factor when choosing trampoline replacement parts for your trampoline to refurbish. It is always important to follow the measuring instructions provided on the vendor’s website when ordering trampoline parts.

Trampoline guides and manuals often contain inaccurate size information, which is why professionals always recommend that the customer actually conduct the measurements themselves, rather than relying on the manufacturer’s information. Size information is needed for trampoline owners wishing to purchase springs, enclosure parts, a replacement mat or a replacement safety pad.

Dependable trampoline parts providers can be identified through good customer reviews, informative websites, easy to use order forms, competitive pricing and warranties, and a well trained staff. All of these factors should be reviewed when purchasing replacement trampoline equipment. Some suppliers are even willing to match the prices of other competitors, but you must call or email the company for more information on those specials. There are a few trampoline suppliers and manufacturers who also provide free shipping to all of their customers. Companies who cover the shipping expenses for customers can save the customer a lot of money, due to the increasing costs of shipping.

While searching for the best prices available for the trampoline replacement part you are searching for is important, be sure not to focus so much on the price that you overlook the quality of the product. The warranty available with the product is usually a good reflection on the quality of the product. Generally manufacturers who have strong faith in their product will provide a lengthy warranty with the item to prove that they stand behind the quality of their product. Beware of safety pads and mats that only have a 30 to 60 day warranty. Typically these trampoline parts are manufactured with poor quality materials that will deteriorate quickly. Usually the best quality safety pads have a 1-year warranty and mats should have at least a 2-year warranty.

Purchasing a trampoline should be a wise long-term investment if the customer is well informed on what a high quality trampoline consist of. A trampoline should not be thought of as a temporary item for entertainment. Instead it should be viewed as a purchase that will provide many years of bonding experiences and heart-warming memories. It is always beneficial for the customer to be informed on what a high quality trampoline consist of so a smart purchase can be made.

Effective Body Parts To Hit In Self-Defense

Self-defense comes with so many easy to do moves, but the areas that you target with your first moves can make all the difference. If at all you are to manage getting away from your attacker, you must choose body parts where you can inflict the most damage without too much effort. The position of the attacker and proximity to you will of course determine which area you are able to reach and strike, but the good thing is, there are several parts you can strike using your hands, knees or even feet no matter the position.

The eyes – The eyes are some of the most sensitive parts of the body; your attacker will not be able to see anything if you damage the eyes in some way and they therefore are some of the best you can choose to target. Scratch, poke or gouge the attacker’s eyes using your knuckles or fingers and you will leave lots of pain giving you time to escape. Temporarily interfering with vision is amongst the easiest and the most effective ways of dealing with a physical attack and actually getting out of the situation.

The nose – This is a good place to target when the attacker stands in front of you closely. You can use the palm heel to strike up right under the nose throwing your weight into the move so you cause pain and send the attacker off balance releasing their grip on you in the process. The nose also makes an easy but effective target when the attacker is behind you because you can strike with your elbow. When you aim for the nasal bones with all your energy it will do the trick and set you free so you can take cover.

The knees – They are ideal spots for self-defense because they partially incapacitate the attacker. The knees remain vulnerable from any given angle and you can also easily kick at them without the risk of having your foot grabbed. Simply target the side area of the knee to cause injury or incapacitate the attacker. The front part of the knee causes even more injury, but it is not as effective in causing imbalance to the attacker.

The neck – The side area of the neck is the best target because this is where the jugular vein and carotid artery are located. Hold all fingers straight and tightly together thumb tucked and knuckle slightly bent, then drive them right at the side of the neck. This is known as the knife hand strike and it will temporarily stun the attacker, giving you the upper hand.

Learning a few self-defense moves and techniques can save you big time when there is no one else around to come to your rescue. It helps to be ready at all times.

How Many Bug Parts Are in Your Ketchup?

According to the Food and Drug Administration and their guidelines to our food growers, there are probably quite a few insects in your ketchup, and other foods you eat. Tomato worms, flys, beetles, spiders and rat hair are just a few ‘added ingredients’ that you will consume. In fact, it’s guesstimated that the average American eats one to two pounds of bug parts each year, without even knowing it. Of course, there is a simple explanation for this: despite the worlds best pest control regulations and policies, there is no way our growers can keep all bugs out of our food. So the FDA allows a certain amount of bug parts and rat hair into our food supply.

Bug parts are a natural part of any harvest

When corn, wheat, vegetables and fruit are harvested, the bugs who happen to be in the field become a natural part of the process. Plus, insects and critters (like rats) find access to stored, harvested food and infest that, too. You can easily understand this if you’ve ever worked your own garden. Despite spraying with the right dose of Ortho, you still find earwigs in your lettuce, flys around your strawberries and tomato worms on your ‘maters’. It’s impossible to keep the little buggers out. So you can easily see how this problem would magnify for our food growers (who do an awesome job for us, by the way).

As far as controlling bug parts in our foods, our food growers and the FDA agree that more pesticides are not a valid option. They believe that it’s reasonable to accept more “natural contaminants’ rather than increase the amount of pesticides. And they’re right. Striving for a balanced bug control policy is their best responsible option, so that’s what they do. Which means you and I are gonna’ eat a couple pounds of bugs a year. Hey, it’s added protein, right?

What bug parts are allowed?

Now, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has created grading standards which protect Americans from bad agriculture. Growers must follow these standards, which set legal limits for spoilage and natural contaminants. Working with the USDA, the FDA has created the ‘Food Defect Action Level’ which lists acceptable levels of contaminant for the harvest of different foods. Now, don’t get to squeamish here, but these bug parts include maggots, insect fragments, mold, rat hair, mammalian feces and squashed bugs. Hmmm… wonder how many spiders are in a can of spinach?

So, what’s in what? For a full listing, you can check out the ‘Food Defect Action Level’, but here are some highlights:

* chocolate – 60 insect fragments per 100 grams, 1 or more rodent hairs per 100 grams.

* macaroni – 225 insect fragments per 225 grams, and/or 4.5 rodent hairs per 225 grams.

* popcorn – 2 rodent hairs per pound, and/or 20 or more gnawed grains per pound

* peanut butter – 30 insect fragments per 100 grams, and/or 1 rodent hair per 100 grams

* coffee – up to 10% of the beans can be infested. (doesn’t say with what)

* potato chips – up to 6% of potatoes may contain rot.

Of course, these are just a few out of a long and extensive bug parts list. But it’s an eye-opener into the food gathering process, and the balanced problem-solving approach employed by our food growers and the FDA. Food is harvested for the masses in the best, most responsible way. Unfortunately, bugs are always going to be a natural nuisance and an unwitting participant in our diets. Hey, no process is perfect. Please pass the ketchup.

Singer 221 Featherweight Interchangeable Parts

Singer in order to make it economical made parts on machines that would work on other machines. I have made a list of some of the parts that can be used on some other machines. Here is what you should know.

1. The difference in voltage actually allows you to trade items from a 220 volt and make it work or interchange with the 110 volt. For example the electric block seems to get broke a lot.

  • Did you know that you can pull the pins out of a 220 Volt, replace them with your pins out of your old 110 volt making this part usable again?

2. The same is true with the foot control on a 220 volt. You can use the foot control cover to replace a broken 110 volt foot control. All parts off the foot control will work on your 110 volt foot control, even the enter workings will work if you take off the extra electric transformers.

3. The price of 220 volt equipment is cheaper and will work fine.

4. The Singer manufactures made foot controls that went in a singer desk. They fit most Singer 221, 301, 15-91 and other models. Parts from the furniture can be helpful when trying to find parts that are high priced or not available.

5. A featherweight machine will use the same brushes as other machine models. This helps in finding brushes if there are problems in finding the correct brushes.

6. This Singer machine will use the same parts from other models that are painted. For instance the 1933 early model scroll faceplate will still fit on models into the 1950’s. The painted faceplate will fit on a regular black singer featherweight.

7. The tension on the machine is used on other models of Singer machines. The tension will fit other featherweight machines for instance 221j tan model.

8. The light bulb from the machine can be used in a model 301, 201-2, singer 15-91 and some other models singer made.

9. The power cord can be used other machines if it is a double lead power cord.

10. It is always good to use new wiring on machines that are being used extensively. Collectors sometimes prefer to have original equipment and in most cases original parts are better quality. The old wiring is not as safe, but it is original for a collector sewing machines.

11. Bobbin case from the Singer 301 can be used in the Singer 221 featherweight. Bobbins for the 301 machines are also fit.

12. Rotary hook assembly or shuttle assembly from the 301 can also be used.

13. Parts from behind the faceplate can be used on other machnes.

14. The bobbin winder actually will fit on other models, but if you are a collector you might want the part that originally came on their Singer 221 featherweight.

15. Bobbin tensions or thread guides as some are called will fit on other machines.

If you buy a new part for your featherweight sewing machine you should look at returning your old part to a website or dealer that is trying to keep these parts in circulation. When you need a Singer 221 featherweight rotary hook assembly others might be able to get use out of screws or other parts from your old rotary hook. This is true of all parts that are of no use to you any more. We are willing to pay postage just to keep these old original parts in circulation. You can help if you need a new part try to send your old part back. You might even get some money back.

Diagnosing Repair Parts on the NSS Stallion 8SC Carpet Extractor

The NSS Stallion 8SC carpet extractor by National Super Service is one of the best carpet extractors sold in the United States. This extractor is easy to use and is extremely portable and lightweight. Over time small issues might arise with this unit and it may need to be repaired. The extractor itself has four likely areas where things could go wrong and parts need to be fixed. It is important to use OEM NSS parts when repairing this extractor to ensure trouble-free use down the road. The four major areas that could go wrong are the vacuum motor, brush motor, pump and brush assembly. NSS parts are readily available through online National Super Service parts dealers and local NSS dealers.

A common problem with this carpet extractor is that the brush bearings tend to go back prematurely. One of the main reasons for this is that some extractors sit for extended periods of time and the bearings start to rust because water was left in the brush assembly and it was not given time to dry out. There are two ways that bearings can be replaced. The first way is to disassemble the main brush remove the bearings, remove the axle, and replace with new NSS bearings. The second and easiest solution to this problem is to purchase a whole new brush assembly which includes the brush, bearings, axle and bearing clips. There are two screws on the outer housing of the brush assembly, remove the screws in the brush should drop from the machine. Remove the belt from the brush and pull the brush away from the machine. To install the new brush wrap the belt around the pulley, but the brush into the machine and screw in the two outside screws. This is an easy fix to the most common problem with Stallion 8SC has. A great way to ensure that bearings within the brush not go bad is to let air circulate around the brush when the machine is not in use. This will prevent the bearings from rusting and seizing up over time.

The next component that is most likely to fail is the brush motor. Before placing the brush motor check to see that the belt is in good condition and has not snapped. Many people assume that the brush motor is bad and do not check the belt first. This NSS belt is extremely inexpensive and easy to replace. On the lower housing of the machine there are screws which need to be removed to access the brush motor and belt. When replacing the belt make sure to check that the brush motor sprints freely and that the pulley on the brush spins freely. A common reason that brush motors go bad is that the bearings on the brush seize up and this will either snap the belt or put an excessive load on the motor causing it to burnout.

When you notice your machine is losing suction it could be that your vacuum motor is starting to wear out. A good thing to do before replacing the vacuum motor is to check all seals especially on the dome and check the dome gasket. Leaks here will cause loss of suction and prevent carpets from being cleaned properly. To access the vacuum motor there are two screws on the back of the unit undo the screws and the top of the unit will flip forward exposing all the internal components. When doing this make sure that the machine is empty in both the solution and recovery tanks. If the machine is not empty water will spill from these tanks onto the floor. To replace the vacuum motor undo the hold down screws and remove the air outlet from the vacuum motor. Repeat the steps to replace the unit.

The last area that can be problematic on the NSS Stallion 8SC is the pump. On the user control panel there is a red button, when pressed this will cause the pump to start and water will be released from the jets on the lower unit. Before replacing the pump check the jets to see if they are clogged. It is common for water not to come out of the unit when these jets are clogged. The easiest way to clean jets is to soak them in a delimer product. Over time calcium from hard water can build up and plug the tiny holes causing them not to release water. After the jets have been soaked do not try to clean the jet holes with anything sharp. The optimal way to clean these jets is to blow compressed air through the top of the jet, this will release debris and free up the whole. If you’re jets are clean and there still is no solution coming out of your machine then you might have a bad pump. To replace the pump under the two screws from the back of the machine until the top of the machine forward exposing the internal parts. Remove the pump and replace with a genuine NSS Stallion 8SC pump. It is important to use only National Super Service parts to ensure extra longevity of your machine.

When working on the NSS Stallion 8SC is important that the power cord be unplugged from the wall and that no power is running to the unit. The Stallion 8SC has now been replaced with the Stallion 818 SC. The major difference between these two carpet extractors is that the Stallion 818 SC has a 18 inch cleaning path instead of a 16 inch cleaning path in the older unit. Some parts for the Stallion 818 SC are interchangeable with the older Stallion 8SC but not all. The main part that is not interchangeable is the brush assembly, so when ordering parts it is important that you order the correct part for the correct machine.

Buy Aftermarket Auto Parts Online and Save!

The internet has proven itself over and over again to be a great source for comparative shoppers looking to save money. The newest internet opportunity to saving your valuable dollars is on costly truck and car repairs. Auto repair savings has historically been limited to the Do it Yourselfer or the backyard mechanic – ultimately the savings came in the form of labor. Thankfully, those days are over, as more individuals are utilizing the internet to source and purchase the auto parts they need online and then bringing them to a local garage or backyard mechanic have them installed. The internet provides bumper to bumper coverage of virtually any and all truck and car parts and can offer significant savings over the local auto parts store. I have heard of savings of over 70% on some aftermarket parts. If you take the old standard calculation of car repair costs into consideration (50% parts + 50% labor) the overall savings could be as high as 35%.

Let’s take a typical 4 wheel brake job as an example. The vehicle I used was a 2001 Chevy Cavalier – 2.4 litre engine with front disc brakes and rear drums. I made a few calls to local auto parts stores (I purposely avoided dealerships and OEM parts to generate a better price comparison). I did not include calipers.

I was able to source front semi-metallic brake pads, front rotors, rear brake drums, rear brake shoes and new brake hardware online for $101.40 which included shipping and any and all applicable taxes – delivered to my door! The same brake parts (I specifically did not select any parts they classified as “Premium” level parts) from a local auto parts store came in at $345.47. To be honest I was a little shocked by the fact that I could save over 70% on aftermarket brake parts. I thought a 70% savings would be specific to parts that were normally “dealer” specific.

Couple of other things to take into consideration, I have heard that garages are starting to charge a higher hourly rate if you bring in your own parts, a corking fee if you will. Not unusual as they typically mark up auto parts that they purchase for you by at least 20%. The overall extra cost to you however is minimal as they usually receive a garage discount from the auto part store.

Another important consideration is to make sure you purchase the right auto parts online – determining with 100% accuracy which auto part fits your vehicle can be very difficult. Most online stores offer toll free numbers and friendly knowledgeable staff that will cross reference your vehicle to ensure you get the right parts. You don’t want to end up with parts you can’t use and have to potentially ship back at your expense (some online stores also charge a re-stocking fee). Another option is to contact a dealer to confirm the part numbers you need before you go online to purchase. Dealerships can use your VIN # and provide another level of accuracy when it comes to identifying the right part for the right vehicle.

Bottom-line, there are significant savings available online for auto parts. The days when the only way to save money on auto repairs was to do it yourself or hire the local backyard mechanic are gone.

Performance Parts 101

In the automotive industry, the term ‘performance parts’ is used for a variety of car and truck parts or accessories, that are designed to enhance a vehicle’s performance. The term is generally tied to the aftermarket industry which makes sense considering that car or truck enhancement parts or accessories are typically purchased after the original purchase. This is not to say that O.E.M. manufacturers won’t create performance parts, because they often do.

Products such as Borla Exhausts, K&N Air Intake filters, ReadyLift Suspension Kits, or Bilstein shocks are considered performance parts because they are created to enhance car or truck performance. On the other hand, the O.E.M. exhaust, intake filter, suspension kit, or shocks that come with the newly purchased vehicles are generally stock parts designed to meet standards at a reasonable price. Someone looking to boost their car or truck’s performance will then purchase an aftermarket part designed to boost performance.

Strictly being aftermarket however, does not categorize a car or truck part or accessory as a performance part. Aftermarket products may include seat covers, car covers, bumpers, sun visors, make-specific paraphernalia (such as TRD’s line of Toyota® accessories), and steering wheel covers. These products are based on aesthetics, comfort, or brand loyalty, not performance. This would make them a car or truck accessory, but not a performance part.

Performance Parts may also play slightly different but overlapping roles from one car or truck to another. For example, K&N’s quality oil and air filtration products are available for virtually every modern vehicle under the sun. However, while lift kits tend to be popular among Ford®, Chevy®, Dodge® and Toyota® truck owners, you are unlikely to see a demand from Mercedes-Benz® or Porsche® owners. This isn’t to say that popular Porsche® and Mercedes® parts (aftermarket at least) are always different from the more popular truck performance parts. Manufacturers are starting to notice and react to new consumer demands. For example, Borla, known for its quality SUV and Truck exhausts, made the cross over and began to offer exhaust systems for Porsche® and Corvette® a few years ago.

To Know Its Parts Is to Know a Cherry Picker!

The cherry picker, also known as a bucket truck, is one of the best pieces of equipment that has ever happened to the telecommunication and electric line industries. It has made the work of line personnel much safer and highly efficient. The cherry picker is not just for use exclusively by these industries; various other businesses that perform aerial jobs on a regular basis can benefit from them as well. Before deciding to purchase this machine from a dealer or an equipment auction, it is important to learn the uses of this equipment as well as its major parts.

Cherry Picker Uses

A cherry picker is used for lifting workers and material to certain tall heights, which is usually accomplished through an adjustable mechanical arm called a boom. The base of this component varies depending on the application; for industries that require the equipment to work at different locations, it is mounted on the rear end of a truck frame.

Major Components

It is also important to know more specific information about the various parts of this vehicle to be sure that any possible purchase includes exactly what is needed for specific tasks.

  • Boom – This is the most predominant feature of the cherry picker. It is a steel support that connects the base support of the equipment and the platform where the worker is situated. Its length can be adjusted depending upon the required working height and there are two design variations for this component. The first one is the telescopic boom which can change lengths by extending subsequent sections within the main one in a manner similar to a telescope. The second design is an articulated boom, which can be adjusted by folding and extending the sections of the boom in a knuckle-like fashion.
  • Bucket – The bucket is a pod made from non-conductive material such as fiberglass. Like the name implies, this component closely resembles an oversized bucket and is usually at the waist height of an average-sized worker. It is attached directly to the top end of the boom and serves as a safe platform from which workers can operate.
  • Turret – A turret connects the lowest end of the boom and the chassis of the truck together. It can rotate at a 360 degree angle horizontally for adjusting the direction of this component. It is also equipped with a joint to allow vertical movement of the boom.
  • Base – In most outdoor cherry picker applications, the boom is mounted on a truck. This allows mobility of the equipment since these vehicles can operate effectively in both off-road and paved road conditions. The engine of the base truck also provides the power to drive all the hydraulic components of the equipment.
  • Outriggers – The size and weight of the boom is massive; because it can move towards any side of the truck, it can cause the equipment to lose balance and tip over. The purpose of outriggers is to provide additional support and increase the base of the truck to prevent tipping. Most cherry pickers have two sets of outriggers, one behind the cab and another set at the rear end of the truck bed.
  • Hydraulic System – Another important component of this equipment is the hydraulic system which is composed of a pump, lines, and rams. Basically these three sub-components converts the power from the engine via PTO to the actual movement of the boom as well as the outriggers.

Knowing the individual components of a bucket truck is important, especially before purchasing one. The specifications of the components, as well as the model of the truck, varies from one manufacturer to another; some applications may require particular specifications. To be sure to purchase the right cherry picker, it is vital to first learn and know about its different parts!

Many Kirby Vacuum Cleaner Parts Are Interchangeable

Replacement bags for Kirby Generation 3 models will also fit Kirby’s Heritage II, Legend, and Legend II vacuum cleaner bags. Available in fiber, these are also manufactured with an allergy reduction filter that has been electrostatically charged to capture microscopic particles and reduce the level of allergens in the home. Kirby G5 vacuum cleaner bags are also sized to fit the G5 models as well. The two model series share replacement parts as well as bags; the belts, bag/tube tie, and bag clamp, as examples, fit both series.

Only the G4 cloth bag is sized so as to exclude the G5 model line, and the G4 vacuum cleaner hose, dust brush, upholstery nozzle, wall-ceiling brush, and surface nozzle fit only the appliances in that series. As for the Kirby G5, it shares a number of spare parts with the succeeding GSix model line. Shared parts include the replacement vacuum cleaner brush roll with a magnet; the vacuum cleaner fan fits the entire line of Generation 3, G4, G5 and GSix models; and the fill tube fits not only the GSix models but also the Legend, Heritage 1HD, Heritage 2HD, Generation 3, G4, and G5.

Just as Kirby’s GSix, Ultimate G and G2000 share vacuum cleaner bags and latches designed to identical specifications, so too do these three product lines share interchangeable hoses, tools, wands, brushes and attachments. The same vacuum cleaner hose, crevice tool, extension wand, and dust brush fit all these successive models. These series also share the same spare parts. The GSix vacuum cleaner belt is designed as a generic to fit all models; as are the replacement fan, fill tube, rug plate, and shampoo brush roll.
