A colleague, Andrew Strom, has just sent me a piece on his visit to Nigeria and permission is granted to reproduce part of it. Why do I do this and why do I want you to read it? Well, it so reminded me of my times in Uganda and Kenya, speaking at Pastors Seminars in the slums and out in the jungles.

We recently got back from our trip to Nigeria – and had a wonderful time. The heat and the never ending cloud of dust, smog and diesel fumes were ever-present, but spiritually it was a fantastic trip.

Three times God arranged it that we appeared on nationwide TV – once while we were preaching and praying for the Goveror of Ogun State (a bit like the Governor of California). Only God could arrange such a thing at the last minute, and we made sure He got all the glory. Thank you for your prayers, my friends!

I know a lot of people on this List have had invitations to Third world countries to minister. They want foreign preachers because they know many people will come to hear a “white man” preach!

I want to encourage you to take these opportunities, my friends, even if you have to pay your own way and that is quite likely because they are so poor.

I have come across many Repentance preachers in the USA and the West who have been frustrated and discouraged here with the lack of response and/or openings. We need to realize that there is a wide world out there that is hungry and desperate for sound preaching and biblical truth.

I remember once hearing David Servant make an analogy of a fisherman with two fishing-holes to choose from. In one fishing hole he caught virtually no fish at all, and the one he did catch jumped up and spat water in his face! In the other fishing hole the fish were so desperate to be caught that they were clinging onto the line and he was hauling them in as fast as he could get his pole back in the water! Which fishing hole should he choose? Of course it was the second one -equating to the Third World.

A lot of us think it is the “spiritual” thing to do, to wait and wait and wait right where we are, but as David Servant points out, Jesus clearly told his disciples that if they were not received in one town, to leave that place and go on until they find a receptive place. This is actually a commandment of God. Otherwise all of God’s servants are left wasting their time in unresponsive environments. Jesus commands us to “GO!”

Personally, for many years now I have focused my attention almost entirely on the West. But God is changing that. In fact, it would not surprise me at all if God calls our family to be based in the Third World sometime in the next few years. Such is the need and the hunger there. Sadly it is the exact opposite of what we so often find in the comfortable apathetic West.

I strongly encourage every preacher who is on this List to consider the Third World – and soon. It may be time to think “outside the box”, my friends. You won’t regret it.

We saw many breakthroughs in the lives of both leaders and people as we spoke on deep repentance and the true message of the CROSS vs. the selfish gospel of gain, etc. A lot of people seemed very surprised and impacted by the messages. There is so much written above with which I can identify. Around 70 to 120 Pastors would walk or cycle 10 to 17 miles to attend the three days Seminars, sleeping on the floor of the church building each night. I would be teaching 3 one and a half hour sessions each day with time for questions. These men of God were so hungry.

Strong positive biblical leadership and teaching is so appreciated!

It was worth all the ‘hassle’ of travel and all the ‘inconvenience’. How often I have found over the years that when we are inconvenienced, that is when Almighty God uses us most of all.

Graviola or Soursop, as it is often connoted is a flowering and fruit bearing tree found in abundance in the rain forests of South America, Africa and even Southeast Asia. The more scientifically would find it interesting that Soursop also has a scientific name: Annona Muricata. Some of the more popular alternative names for this plant are custard apple, guanabana and Brazilian Paw Paw. Soursop and cancer continues to be raging debate in contemporary times which is not surprising considering the therapeutic versatility of the plant.

Traditional medicinal benefits are known to be present in the fruit, stem, leaves, the bark and the roots of this wonder tree. These could well be attributed to the presence of a specific chemical substance known as annonaceous acetogenins. The therapeutic advantage of this rainforest plant is not new considering that South Americans and the Africans have used these extracts to treat conditions such as arthritis, fever, bacterial and parasitic infections and even depression.

Liver and breast cancers are some of the more destructive kinds of disease conditions known to mankind in present times. Soursop is known to be beneficial when used in the right dose and for the right duration. Thus is evident from the fact that it has been utilized to treat these cancers when conventional chemotherapy is ineffective or alternatively when it is not viable to continue with the therapy due to the serious side effects.

Although the mechanism of action of the drug is still unknown, some patients have experienced nerve cell damage and the medication may cross from the bloodstream to the brain. Concurrently the prickly fruit of custard apple is known to selectively destroy cancer cells while sparing the healthy cells. This is arguably a distinct advantage over the more conventional therapy which destroys both the healthy as well as the diseased cells in equal proportions.

Statistics indicate that the Brazilian Paw Paw is 10,000 times more effective than chemotherapy without the associated side effects like hair loss, nausea and weight loss. Thus evidently patients on the Brazilian fruit continue to feel stronger and healthier throughout the treatment regime.

Concurrently the treatment horizon is diverse as is evident from the fact that custard apple is effective in 12 kinds of different malignancies which include the likes of lungs, colon, prostate and even pancreatic variants. Specifically this plant medication is 10,000 times more effective than Adriamycin. The latter is a frontline drug of choice used to treat malignancies.

Soursop and therapeutic benefits are intricately woven and this is one medication which holds potential as it can treat effectively without the disturbing side effects of conventional medications. The critics may well question as to why this line of treatment does not find an extensive market, and the answer is simple: it is all about economics and market profitability. To further elaborate pharmaceutical companies have spent close to seven years trying to research and develop the active ingredient found in this fruit but are still unable to isolate and synthesize the compound.

This makes it more than evident that marketing the product would negatively impact the profitability of these pharmaceutical companies. Soursop and Cancer will continue to be fiercely contested in the years to come and this is not surprising considering that cancer is one disease condition which has begun to threaten the very existence of mankind and the plant holds the key to cure and alleviation. The debate has now begun to reach a logical conclusion as there are findings which continue to surface with every passing year which prove that this plant has some incomparable benefits for cancer patients.

With so many options available to you when picking out arrows, where do you start? Let’s begin with choosing the arrow material. The most popular materials tend to be carbon, wood, and aluminum. Each has their own place in the archery world, but I will explain the advantages and disadvantages to each of them below:

Carbon

Carbon arrows are very lightweight and have the least amount of stiffness between the three. Unlike wooden arrows, these will not break as easily, but be careful because they may splinter. The earliest version of archery arrows belong to the wooden arrows. I don’t know about you, but when I think about wood arrows, my mind immediately goes to Robbin Hood. They are the traditional archery arrow that has been used since the beginning with long bows and recurve bows. Out of the three different types of arrows, wood is the cheapest, because they are less durable and need more attention than the other options. Any shot that hits the ground or glances of an object or targets can cause it to bend or break. Another difference with wood arrows is that they use feather flights instead of plastic veins, which once again makes them less durable. Their weight is determined by the type of wood their shaft is crafted out of.

Now it is up to you to determine which of these arrows will be best suited for your situation. If you are using them for target shooting, you will generally want a lighter arrow that will provide you with distance and a flatter trajectory. If you are preparing for a hunt, a heavier arrow will provide more power into your broadhead and a deeper penetration. Either way, taking your time to find and fine tune your arrows will have a big impact on your success. Head on over to your local archery shop and have some fun!

When it comes to vaginal yeast infection or herpes outbreak the symptoms are usually similar but you should be able to identify which of the disease you are suffering from, whether the former is or the latter. In the case of the first, you will experience itching or irritation, redness in your genitals and yellow discharge too. But for the second, you will have irritation with no discharge. There are two kinds of herpes. Simplex Type 1 which pertains to oral herpes also known as cold sores. Though, herpes don’t have a cure but it can be controlled through drugs.

A content management system is a system that allows users to add, edit, update and delete their website content quickly and easily through the use of an administration section on their website and a database (usually MySQL, MSSQL or Access.) Content management systems use server side scripting languages such as PHP, ASP or ASP.net.

Get the most out of your ski or snowboarding vacation and your lift tickets by skiing smart. Being fit is a good idea too; however, being fit and skiing smart are two different concepts. Even the young and fit crowd will be sore after skiing all day when they are not used to this activity. The older we get and the more out of shape we are makes it even harder to just hit the slopes and ski all day when you haven’t skied for months or even years. So, here are some ideas to keep in mind that will help you get the most out of your ski or snowboarding vacation. One more important note, having modern ski or snowboarding equipment is a must. No need to borrow or use old stuff. You’re spending a fair amount of money to have a great vacation. Don’t short yourself with substandard gear.

For those who are in really great shape but don’t have much skiing experience, preparing yourself physically won’t be too hard. For the rest of us, it is best to work in some fitness time before your vacation. Skiing really works the quadriceps and tests your balance. It’s a good idea to include some strength and balance exercises into your normal fitness routine at least 6 – 8 weeks before your vacation. No need to go crazy getting ready for your ski vacation, just try to be consistent with a work out program.

Skiing and snowboard is a lot of fun and it is easy to get charged when you begin to feel this exhilaration. Remember that you have all week to ski and you are not used to skiing hard all day long. There is no need to wear yourself out in the first two hours. All ability levels will benefit from warming up on easy runs and getting comfortable with your technique. When you are ready move on to more challenging run, find something that appeals to you. Limit pushing your ability level. Allow yourself to be challenged but recognize that you are challenging yourself. Each run that you take should not be an even bigger challenge then the last. Try to plan each day around when you will be “pushing your limits”. Don’t think that you will be able to maintain that threshold all day for every day of your vacation. That is unrealistic and not smart. So, in a nut shell, take your time warming up. Think about what challenging runs you would like to tackle that day. Once you feel ready to move on, go for your personal challenge and then return to easier runs. If you don’t ski to your expectations, pushing yourself over and over again is not going to necessarily make it happen. You will do better by backing off and coming back in a day or two. Take plenty of breaks and enjoy your social time. These little breaks will provide physical recovery; recovery that will allow you to ski better and last the whole day.

Consider that your muscles are not conditioned for skiing as they are for your other activities. If you are on a week skiing vacation, take at least two days off. For those who are not in very good physical condition, you will be skiing even less. Perhaps purchasing half-day tickets is the way to go. You need to be realistic about how much you really can ski and space out your days on the slope. You will get the highest quality ski time this way. Try fitting in some physical recovery time too. Do some walking. Even a walk around the shops will help your circulation and reduce soreness. If you have access to a bicycle trainer or a swimming pool, some light aerobic exercise will do wonders. Try stretching before and after you ski, even 15 minutes can make a difference. For those with some aching going on, try taking a normal dose of your favorite anti-inflammatory with breakfast and again before bed.

Skis and snowboards have really revolutionized over the past few years. Don’t even bother borrowing old equipment to save a few bucks. No amount of FREE with old equipment is going to improve your skiing or over all vacation experience. The best way to improve your skiing ability and over-all “fun factor” is to demo or rent modern ski or snowboarding equipment.

Be smart and have a great vacation. Spend a little time incorporating strength and balance exercises into your normal fitness routine a month or two in advance. Realize when you plan your vacation that you want to take a day or two off from skiing. This time off between ski days will help you ski better. Rent ski or snowboarding gear if you don’t have modern equipment. Ski smart by limiting how hard you will challenge yourself. Spend plenty of time warming up on easy runs and return to these runs to avoid fatigue. Take plenty of breaks. Consider doing some light aerobic recover exercises after skiing. A good motto to follow is to always check in with yourself. There is no need to be way outside of your comfort zone. Get the most out of your ski or snowboarding vacation by being smart. A little bit of smarts can go along way.

The lost city of Atlantis was a story by Plato in 355 BC which stated that Poseidon was the sea-god who made the city of Atlantis. This city boasted of hot and cold water fountains, city-walls, and irrigation system for cultivation outside the city. The attraction was a temple in the centre of the city atop a hill which had a statue of Poseidon in a chariot pulled by horses with wings. Some supported this imagination while others argued it as untrue.

In 1800, Ignatius Donnelly supported this story by stating in his book titled ‘Antediluvian World’ that such a city existed in the center of the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantian civilization therein was the earliest civilization which later spread to other colonies. This city was believed to have been ruined by a disaster of nature.

Counter theories were that since the sediments at the ocean bed could not have covered the city entirely considering the period of its existence, this theory was untrue.

Another professor in history, K.T. Frost, believed that the city did exist, but it was located on Crete Island, which was home to the Minoan civilization. He stated that this civilization was indeed prosperous wherein an efficient navy was in force. Due to the eruption of a volcano 10 miles away from this island, the entire civilization with the empire suddenly vanished. There was semblance in this story with that proposed by Plato. In fact, most people believe that the legendary city was actually located on Crete. The tussle between this story being a fact or fiction still continues.

Explaining “Cookies” (the non caloric ones that reside in your computer!)

You can’t talk about all those nasty ‘things’ that can ‘attack’ your computer while you are surfing the Internet, like viruses or spyware, without talking about ‘Cookies’. But what are they and are they really bad for my computer?

Ok, first let’s define the term, and then we’ll explain the good and the bad about it.

Cookie(s):

A small data (text and numbers) file (piece of information) created by a Web server (large computer that stores web sites) that is stored on your computer either temporarily for that session only (the time that you spend on a web site) or permanently on the hard disk (persistent cookie). Cookies provide a way for the Web site that you visit and go back to visit again, to identify users and keep track of their preferences. Amazon and Barnes and Noble online are very creative in the use of their cookies that get generated when you visit.

Here’s an example from my computer from visiting the Disney.com website:

Notice that the only thing in that string of text and numbers that you can recognize is the name of the website. The rest of the information is simply a set of numbers that only a computer can understand.

Why are cookies important to you? Well, you would not be able to browse through the Web as you are currently used to if you had cookies restricted on your computer.

The Good “Cookies” (non calorie type)

Cookies are commonly used to “maintain the state” (the current or last-known status) of the session (time that you spend on a site) as a user browses around on the site. For example, if you filled out a form and decided to leave that for a moment to view another page, when you come back to that form, the information that you already filled in would still be there. Without cookies, the site would not know who you were.

On the 2 web sites that I mentioned, Amazon and Barnes and Noble, they both use a combination of cookies and online database to recognize you when you return to the site as well as “remember” your earlier choices and from those choices recommend possible book or music choices for you on your current visit.

Imagine, if you will, walking into a local Barnes and Noble store where a clerk immediately recognizes you, walks up to you as she calls you by name and walks you over to your own table of books and music. You see that they have put all of your favorite kinds of books and musicians on the table, both new and old works, all laid out for your quick viewing pleasure!

And, on the next table, is a sign saying “Other people who bought these items also purchased these items” so that you may find interesting items that you may never have seen but might find interesting. Wouldn’t that make shopping a great experience?

Well, that is exactly what it is like to shop online with a sophisticated shopping web site like Barnes and Noble and Amazon! And it’s only because of cookies remembering who you are that allows this type of service to occur.

The Bad Side of Cookies

Actually, as you have just seen, cookies on your computer are not a bad thing; it’s just that the information that they contain can be quite enticing to unscrupulous people. Quite a bit of personal data may reside in the cookie files in your computer, such as ID and Password information. As a result, this storehouse of private information is sometimes the object of attack, which is what happens with some types of spyware.

The default (Default refers to a value automatically assigned to a computer program or device), settings in your Web browser typically allow “first-party” cookies that do not contain any personal information, but not “third-party” cookies.

First-party cookies are ones that are created by the Web site you are visiting. Third-party cookies are created by a Web site other than the one you are currently visiting; for example, by a third-party advertiser on that site (pop-up or banner). The purpose of such cookies is usually to track your surfing habits, which is why third-party cookies are considered an invasion of privacy and riskier than first-party cookies. In some instances cookies are used to consolidate and track user behavior across different sites, which provide marketers with private information about you without your knowledge. These are what are referred to as Tracking Cookies.

Aha, now we’re getting somewhere!

Because, a Tracking Cookie is a somewhat new term for a cookie that has been design by the above mentioned ‘unscrupulous’ people that do business on the Web. It is part of the unfortunate phenomenon known as Spyware! But, that’s a topic for another whole article!

Although windshield chips or cracks don’t happen that often, they can be a real problem. Unlike high-end glass, lightweight glass is used more often in order to get better mileage. In this article, we are going to give you a few tips to help you fix the damaged windshield.

1. Find out how bad the chips is

First of all, you shouldn’t ignore the chip. According to many studies, 90% of chips tend to grow into large cracks. This happens when you least expect this situation to happen. Cracked auto glass can be a source of distraction for you, which can be a real danger.
