Resume Writing For Teachers – A Teachable Moment

A teacher recently contacted me about resume writing for teachers. When I asked how her job hunt was going she related the following story.

“I thought I had a great teacher resume,” she told me. “After sending out over 319 resumes for full time elementary positions I finally got two interviews. The first one called me in, interviewed me, and then sent me an email telling me I was over qualified. The interviewer was a member of the school board and though I was seeking a full time elementary teaching position, he said because of my lack of skills he would only consider me to start as a substitute with a minimum one day a week guarantee. If a substitute was not needed any particular week I could help in the high school library. “

“I was shocked,” she added. “I had been worried about being overqualified for the position and had ‘dumbed down’ my resume. I left off my teaching credentials for science and two workshop certificates for social skills development at the elementary level. I tried to explain that I had these certificates but the gentleman looked skeptical. Then he told me he wished I had included that on my resume because he would be submitting recommended applicant resumes at a board meeting later that day. Needless to say I never heard from him.”

“Do you have any ideas,” she asked.

“Have you considered writing two teacher resumes?” I responded.

“Wouldn’t that be contradictory?” she queried.

Resume writing for teachers often requires listing more credentials and skills than some other types of resumes. Write two resumes. Create a teacher resume that is as relevant as possible to the job and school where you are applying. Tailor the resume as much as possible for the position. Get inside information if possible. Contact the hiring manager or another teacher at the school and ask questions about the school. Get any information you can about the position. Then if you feel you have more to offer that could over qualify create a second resume wit all of your qualifications and have a copy handy when you go to interviews. Make sure the second resume is not contradictory but contains your additional credentials and skills. When you need to hand this resume to an interviewer you will appear prepared and have back up for your claims.

To Be in the Moment Is A Thing of the Past

Once upon a time, around ten to twenty years ago, people believed that it was essential to be in the moment. People actually thought that the closer your lived in the present the more in touch with your senses you were. They truly believed that life was fleeting and therefore to experience life at it’s fullest it was necessary to experience all the sensory stimuli taking place around you.

That quaint notion today is ancient history. Being in the moment is a thing of our past, shelved as impractical and self-defeating. Today the moment is lost to the transformational vagaries of the Blackberry, the IPod and the ubiquitous cell phone. We are typing, talking and otherwise distracted as we proceed with our daily lives. We can neither drink a cup of coffee, nor walk down the street without an electronic device diluting the ambience.

We have stopped paying attention to our surroundings. When you stop paying attention to your surroundings, then you stop paying attention to all the things great and small that make up our lives. We are denying ourselves experience. We no longer fail to live in the moment; arguably it is difficult for most of us to even define what really constitutes that moment and how it affects our lives.

So if this is the case, then how do we define a fulfilling experience? Can we really say we are immersed in our environment if we are text messaging or talking to someone on our cell phone? Not really. Certainly there are important calls and business calls, but aren’t most calls a result of our inability to deal with our solitude?

How did this happen? Is it our love and infatuation with our relatively new electronic devices that drove us to a new dimension of consciousness? Perhaps there is more to it. It may be the pressures of the modern world have built up to unmanageable proportions. It is perhaps the anxiety of silence or the fear of spontaneity that has us clinging to our cell phones. Like ostriches we put our heads in the sand by turning to the predictable security of a familiar voice or text on a screen.

Or maybe there are better reasons than risk aversion. The world is not only a scary place; it also breeds banality and repetition. The last thing most of us need is more banality and repetition, so we dive into our electronics in order to avoid it. But in avoiding the downside of life in the present, we can also deny the magic that happens through observation and interaction. When we turn our backs on fate and serendipity, we exchange the chance of something wonderful happening for a dull and predictable routine. We leave it to the movies to cultivate our fantasies. We believe we will never meet our lover on the street, so why bother looking. It is easier to join an Internet forum or online dating service and call them up by category. It is dull, but it is easy. Why look up, when it is easier to look way?

To assess quality and value means you have to pay attention. You have to study things. But, obviously, when we are busy with your electronic distractions we don’t really pay attention. It is like the people we all know who travel to some exotic locale rich with architectural and cultural wonders, and the best they can do is tell you about the food.

Instead of really understanding the difference between quality and junk, we rely upon marketing and branding. It is through the purchase of labels and not necessary quality that we express our desire for the better things in life. We don’t make choices on what we buy, wear, eat or drive, based on artisan skills and the quality of design and engineering as much as a perceived status and branding. We leave it up to others to tell us what is good or right for us, and then we wonder why we feel frustrated and short changed. Sadly, we often choose our lovers and enter into relationships on the same basis.

Despite our best efforts to distract ourselves from living in the present, we can’t avoid actual human contact altogether. We still acknowledge underlying chemistry is at least part of the cause of attraction to others. We speak of pheromones and vibes and our sexual response to certain intangibles. Yet in spite of our instincts we eschew diversity and variety in favor of niche categories. We overlook the fine distinctions that make someone unique. We seek instead the behavior that makes them the same, that makes them easy to define through generic slogans and simple jargon. It makes us comfortable when we can pigeonhole the world and classify our lovers by assigning them to rudimentary categories.

With this as the modern base line as to how we judge things, you have to wonder if you really know the people you are thinking of dating. Of course you know them according to niche and preconception. They told you stuff about themselves, either through email or over the phone, perhaps over coffee or in a speed dating session. They told you about their tastes in food, clothes, fashion and what they do for a living. But do you really know them? Judging by the way we allow ourselves to be distracted from the moment, you probably don’t know them as well as you think.

Reason would stand if you are not really paying attention, then you are missing the tell tale signs of behavior. Tell tale signs can go either way. They can direct you to opportunity or reveal hidden dangers. If it’s opportunity, you miss out. If it’s danger, then you had better look out.

This may be why singles are using background checks to investigate the history of their potential lover. Considering the compressed time for meeting and evaluating, this seems like the smart thing to do. Otherwise, how do you know who you are really meeting on line? Are they really who they say they are? If you are a single parent and dating online or through speed dating services or agencies, you had better be sure Mr. Wonderful doesn’t prefer your children over you.

So, at the very least, protect yourself from your own inattention. Since you really haven’t been paying attention, when you meet someone you find interesting, before you start dating, order a background check. It’s always nice to know whether you are about to date Jumping Jack Flash or Jack the Ripper. A background check won’t tell you everything, but it will help you decide if they really are who they say they are. Hey, just think of it as branding.

The Importance of the Moment of Truth

A typical Friday evening starts with a family dinner in a nice atmosphere. This time we decide to visit one of our favourite restaurants for a light dinner with Sushi. Upon arrival we are amazed. Usually, this place is packed on a Friday evening. Today, more than half of the seats are empty. Therefore, going in and taking a seat at the conveyor belt is very easy. Before the waitress has a chance to approach us we have taken some plates with Sushi already. We tell the waitress that – apart from some drinks – we don’t need to order from the menu.

She confirms “So, you take the buffet for two adults and one teenager?” “You call it buffet? We just want you to count the number of plates as usual.” “Sorry, we don’t offer this anymore. We offer buffet instead. The prices are….”

A bit disappointed and caught in the act we decide to stay and surrender to the new scheme. And, of course, we eat more than intended since we pay for it anyway. Whilst eating and enjoying the Sushi we draw some conclusions: No wonder that this place is half-empty. People definitely don’t like the new scheme. Did you see that half of the self-service screens are broken? So is the product knowledge of the staff.

After finishing more food than originally wished-for we ask the waitress for the bill. Another waitress approaches our table and starts counting the plates. Now, we are very puzzled. “We thought you don’t count plates any longer? Your colleague told us that we have to take the buffet…?” During some forth and back we do not get any answer on our question about what the pricing strategy of the restaurant is. I give up and approach the cashier – still feeling cheated, hoping that they admit their big mishap and compensate us with a rebate or a voucher or so – and apologise. Nothing. I paid the buffet price.

For sure, they will not see us at this place again.

Conclusion

A “Moment of Truth” is the moment that the company interfaces with the buyer. Careful product development, successful marketing and perfect product preparation can easily be shattered by small misfortunes during the moment of truth. Unfortunately, in a restaurant you have a series of these moments, all of which are able to shape the impression of the experience dramatically. Often, this experience is much more important than the price or even the food itself.

The later in the service delivery the Moment of Truth turns bad, the less time remains for a remedy. If the remedy is not applied on the spot, the chance may be gone forever – together with the customer.

Quickie Sex Tips – 5 Ways to Enjoy Spur of the Moment Passion

Foreplay is great and can be the foundation to a great sexual relationship but today, many couples just don’t have the time or when they do, it’s usually after a long day at work and they don’t have the energy. This is where the quickie comes in.

When couples let the pressures of life affect their sex lives then eventually something is going to break like the relationship so it’s important to “let the hair down” on occasions and stop waiting for it to be perfect. Fast love episodes add a little excitement to a relationship and when performed on a regular basis, will strike the right balance between sex with foreplay or simply just enjoying the spur of the moment.

In this article, let’s take a look at several opportunities for quick sex to be utilized.

#1. Friend gatherings are synonymous with quick temptation sex. A couple may be at a friend’s BBQ gathering and suddenly the urge is there. Ask your friends to look after the kids while you head home for a short time to pick up a couple of items you forgot.

#2. Mornings are perfect for quickie sex simply because most people are rushed. Men usually are ready first thing in the morning so guys, kiss your wife on the cheek and tell her good morning honey and at the same time press yourself against her. If she’s alert she’ll no where it’s going.

#3. Still on the mornings, if you both get up at a similar time to prepare to go to work, wake up a little earlier and meet in the shower. It’s a perfect spot as you both are satisfied sexually and get showered as well.

#4. Formal social gatherings can be a real bore and are an ideal scenario for some quickie sex. Either find a quiet spot at the function or leave early and go parking on the way home. It could prove to be the highlight of your week.

#5. How about the office. You and your partner will know where and when you can fit it in and get away with it without creating suspicion. Okay, we’re not suggesting the office but more like meeting each other at home for lunch especially if you work within reasonable commuting distance to your home.

Advantages Of Employing Food Packaging At The Moment

Food packaging is packaging done for food. It requires safeguarding, tampering resistance and distinct chemical or physical needs. It also shows the merchandise that is labeled to show any diet information about the nutrients being expended. Packaging should protect items from peripheral factors such as dust, microbes and interfering. Packaging makes it safer and less susceptible to contagion. Diet stays renewed longer when it is packed effectively.

The principal roles of this wrapping are to protect food products from outside influences and damage, to contain the diet, and to provide consumers with component and nutritional material. The main goal is to contain nutriment in an economical way that satisfies industry requirements and consumer desires, maintains safety, and minimizes environmental impact. It can slow product deterioration, maintain the useful effects of processing, lengthen its durability, and maintain or increase the quality and safety of nutrients. In doing so, it provides protection from the3 major classes of external inducements: chemical, biological and physical.

This fortification however accounts for utmost waste in the United States. Though some of it is recyclable it is demanding to improve the efficacy of its cost. It aids in diffusion of sustenance. Nutrition can be packed in flexible and aluminum cans, cardboard and plastic bags. Tools that have habitually been used include glass, metals, paper and paper boards, and plastics.

Aluminum cans may reserve sustenance for a very long time. They nevertheless require a can opener to open since opening them can be quite a challenge. It ensures physical protection, barrier protection, containment or agglomeration (powders), marketing, security, convenience for distribution and handling and portion control (especially for bulk commodities).

Principal wrapping is the main compendium that holds the processed fare. Reduced covering and sustainable wrapping are however becoming more frequent. This is basically from government regulations, consumer pressure, retailer pressure, and cost control. Package design and construction play a significant role in determining the shelf life of a nutrition product. The right assortment of wrapping materials and expertise maintains merchandise quality and freshness during circulation and stowing.

Today’s packages often combine several materials to exploit each materials functional or aesthetic properties. As research to improve sustenance wrapping continues, advances in the field may have alarming impacts to its environment. Plastic has become the most- used commodity due to its malleability and durability. In addition, a wider variety of plastics have been offered in both rigid and flexible shapes.

Plastic vessels are ideal for serving ready-made sustenance. The tough plastic offers an excellent seal against discharges and prevents diet from withering out. Paper diet bags are an ideal alternative to plastic bags or expensive boxes. The paper allows aeration and prevents dry sustenance from becoming damp with steam from the hot commodities. Environmentally friendly biodegradable ampules are ideal for eco minded sellers and consumers alike. They are suitable for engagements and commemorations where clutter may be ignored. Pallet wrap is perfect for casing pallets to safeguard from dirt or light marks. Permeable pads are used to protect embalmed products from micro-bacterial decay by absorbing surplus fluids from meat or fish.

Any valuation of food packagings effect on the environment must consider the positive benefits of reduced diet waste throughout the supply chain. Significant nutrient wastage has been reported in many countries, ranging from twenty five percent for food grain to fifty percent for fruits and vegetables. Inadequate preservation/protection, storage, and transportation have been cited as causes of food waste. Good packaging reduces total waste by extending the durability of foods, thereby prolonging their usability.

Humanistic Sandtray Therapy in the Moment

Unlike other approaches to sandtray therapy, the humanistic approach emphasizes the here-and-now. After the client creates the scene, the therapist’s main goal with the client in the processing phase of sandtray therapy is to facilitate a process of exploration, expression, awareness and discovery. The focus is on the moment and this focus guides the therapist’s responses to the client. Awareness is emphasized over insight because awareness is about experiencing.

Imagine that your adult client is struggling in her marriage. You have asked her to create a sandtray scene of her marriage. In her scene, she positions the miniature representing her husband on one end of the tray and her figure on the other end. As she is processing the scene, she says, “I don’t love him anymore, but I’m afraid to leave him.” If you have ever worked with couples or clients who are struggling with their marriage, I am sure that you’ve heard something similar to this statement. In this approach to therapy, we call this kind of statement a polarity. A polarity contains two parts; part of this client does not love her husband and wants more out of life. She may experience this lack of love as deeply painful and lonely. The other part of her is afraid. She may be afraid for financial reasons. She may be afraid of losing the familiar. She may be afraid that she cannot live on her own. Have you ever noticed how reluctant we are to part with the familiar? She may have children and be afraid of how her decision to leave will impact them.

There are countless responses that a therapist could make to this statement from the client. How would you respond? If you wanted the client to go deeper into her awareness, what you would not want to do is have her analyze her feelings. Clients cannot analyze a feeling and experience it at the same time. Let me say that again. Clients cannot analyze a feeling and experience it at the same time. Most of us like to know why we feel the way that we do and many of us are quite good at analyzing our feelings. However, knowing why you feel the way that you do may not change anything. Analyzing feelings is a cognitive process. As Yalom (1995) noted, reflection and analysis are helpful after an experience, not during the experience. In this approach to sandtray therapy, the time for reflection and analysis is after clients have done the hard work of staying with an issue or experience.

Let’s look at some possible options for responding to the client who does not love her husband. It is critical to notice the polarity in the client’s statement. One option for the therapist would be to ask the client which of the two parts (part 1-do not love him, part 2-afraid to leave him) she is more aware of now. I might say, “Right now, are you more aware of the part of you that doesn’t love him or the part that is afraid to leave?” Let us say that she says she is more aware of the part of her that is afraid. I might ask, “Do you feel the fear right now?” If she says yes, I might say, “What is the fear like? Describe it to me.”

Something that is assumed in the humanistic approach with clients is the sandtray therapist works to keep the client focused on a feeling or issue. One of the advantages of sandtray is that the arrangement of the miniatures and the sandtray tend to catalyze the client’s awareness and keep the client more focused on her issues. Many clients will bring up an issue and do everything that they can to avoid experiencing feelings related to the issue. Why do clients do this? One possible explanation for this tendency is that clients were polarized about the issue in the first place. They wanted to bring up the issue and resolve it but they did not want to experience the pain, fear, or other feelings associated with the issue.

By focusing on feelings in the present, humanistic sandtray therapists optimize the exploratory experience for clients and facilitate an in-depth awareness that is not possible when therapists focus on the past. The past is relevant but unless clients have feelings about the past, the skilled therapist will have more success facilitating growth by keeping the focus on the present.

Every Moment Can Be A Beginning

Nothing in life is trivial. Every moment can be a beginning. Sometimes, we feel that life is empty even if nothing is missing. All the ingredients for a good life are just within reach. Still, it’s not enough.

We are eaten by our negative thoughts. We failed to realize that we cannot control everything that happens to us;. We can only control the way we respond to what happens. We need to change our mindset to grow. If we don’t grow, we aren’t really living.

We choose the life we live. If we don’t like it, it’s up to us to change it because no one else is going to do it for us. It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless we live so cautiously. But life doesn’t require us to be the best, only that if try our best.

Either good things or bad things happen, we need to embrace them as part of our life. This only means one thing, we are alive and kicking in wide world. Remember, nobody who ever gave his or her best regretted it.

In the long run, the sharpest weapon of all is a kind and gentle spirit. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too. We make a choice when we decide how we will react to any given situation. If we choose to complain and think negatively, our natural reaction will be to dwell on the negative side of every situation.

When we actively choose to think positively, we can turn the situation into an opportunity for growth, helping us become a better person. After reframing our mindset to think positively about problems, we feel motivated, inspired, and empowered to take on any challenge that comes our way.

We must let our positivity and optimism inspire us and lead us to success. In fact, all our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them. It is the courage to continue that counts not how many times we fail in life.

Our life only changes when we decide to change. It may not be that comfortable or easy at first, but it sure is worth it. Although, our fear is very strong and keeps us from doing things that may harm us. But sometimes, the real harm comes from our inability to take action because of our fear for failure. In fact, we generate fears in doing nothing. We overcome them by taking action.

Cherish The Present Moment

Have you ever caught yourself in the middle of a perfectly wonderful moment thinking about what you’re going to do next? We all do it and it’s something that most of us have to make a conscious effort to correct. What’s so bad about letting your mind wander off to the next big thing or the memories you hold on to from years ago? You miss out on all of the things happening around you right now. The next thing you know, you’re living that moment you were thinking about so longingly yesterday, but your mind has moved on to tomorrow or is stuck in a moment from two weeks ago. Challenge yourself to start living in the present, starting now.

Stop Living in the Future

During our younger years we tend to spend a lot of time wishing for the future. We see all of the privileges that come with growing up and we wish our time away. We wish for the day we get our driver’s license, we can’t wait to move away to college, and then finally, to graduate into the “real world.” All of a sudden, our college days are over and we wish we could go back to those days. The wisdom to appreciate these years is not commonly found in teenagers and young adults, but it’s important to slow down and cherish these moments now before they are gone.

Stop Living in the Past

After you lose a loved one to death, it’s common to find yourself living in the past. You think about how great your life was when the person you lost was still a part of it. There’s a difference between keeping the memories of your departed loved one alive and missing out on your life now because you’re stuck in the past. Even though your loved one is gone, there are people in your life now who care about you very much and who want to see you happy. Don’t miss out on that love and happiness that is all around you now because you can’t stop thinking about the way your life used to be.

We all have one life to live. Live your life in the present and try to cherish each moment as it happens. We’re only human, so you’re bound to find yourself longing for a different time every now and then. It’s okay to hold onto your memories and to get excited about the future, but don’t let those past and future moments keep you from cherishing the moment that is happening right in front of you.

The Law of Attraction in the Present Moment of Now

Everything you create in your life is being created in the present moment of now through the process of the law of attraction. You put your attention on your desires in the present moment of now and the law of attraction brings them to you in the present moment of now.

This truly requires your conscious effort, so you need to be awake and aware of the process to receive the benefit but isn’t the reward worth the minor effort of the attention it takes?

Once again, it is in the understanding of the process that you will be able to seek and find this present moment awareness.

Try it right now. Think of one of your desires, imagine the feeling you will have when that desire is attained and then be that feeling and know that what you desire is attained. Hold that feeling. Feel it, be it, right now. Don’t just think that you are playing a game or just doing an exercise. Be it. Own it. Know that it is yours right now. Hold that image, that feeling, and smile because you are such a powerful creator.

Guess what. Right now, in this very present moment of now, you do possess the object of your desire. The seen or unseen desire that you chose to bring into your reality is right now in your present reality.

Can you feel it? If you can’t then you are not being it. Relax, enjoy and don’t get uptight about it. This isn’t a contest. This is you being what you truly are, a creating machine. You are just plugging into the process, except you are plugging into it consciously.

Nice and easy now, be and feel that which you desire. Let the feeling flow over you and rejoice about what you are being because you now possess this desire. Wow, doesn’t that feel good? Stay with it and know that it is yours. The longer you are able to keep this feeling, in the present moment of now, the longer you possess your desire. If you could consciously hold that being and feeling several times a day, you will begin to know that your desire is moving to you.

The universe is at work and because of this concept we call “time” there is a “time lag” between when we put our intentions out (or in) and when they show up in physical reality. The more you stay in the present moment, the more you help the universe in bringing you your desires.

The only thing required of you during this time lag between the time that you put your intentions or desire out (or in) there and the time that it is delivered to you is this concept called faith. Faith tells you that you trust the process, and faith combined with gratitude sends a very powerful message to the universe about your understanding and acceptance of the authentic creative abilities you possess.

Consciously being in the present moment improves your awareness of what is actually showing up in your life. You have many desires out there (or in here) and they are all jockeying for position to manifest for you. Sometimes they show up at the oddest times and you don’t even realize they are there.

When you can stay more fully in the present moment, you are able to see your desires when they show up. This present moment awareness is a consciousness level that is just more aware than your normal daily routine level of consciousness.

We live at many levels of consciousness as we travel in this human form. By purposely plugging in to this higher level of consciousness that you achieve when you maintain present moment awareness, you remove the filters of judgment, limits, labels, doubt, suspicion and distrust. Being fully present in the now opens you to the higher levels of consciousness and awareness and allows the creative process to unfold before you as you actively acknowledge that what you are being now is what is so.

What is so in each and every present moment of now is spirit. Pure spirit resides in the now as the ego resides in the past and the future. The more you stay in the present moment, the more you align with spirit The more you align with spirit, the clearer life becomes to you because spirit is truth and truth is joy and joy is love and love is who you really are.

Celebrate the love that you truly are by a conscious effort to hold that space of being in the present moment as much as you can and your understanding of the process of life will blossom to reveal the awesome beauty of your beingness. Hold that feeling but don’t be attached to it.
